Singers and Actors from KP demand fair treatment and security from the government

Singers and actors from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have asked the government to work more efficiently on its cultural policy in order to ensure their safety.

These demands were brought forward during an event at Peshawar Press Club on Friday celebrating Music Freedom Day.Around 50 events were held across KP and Fata, including Swat, Buner, Mardan, Nowshera, DI Khan, Lakki Marwat and Bannu, to mark the day.

Almost 300 local performers and musicians were at the event.The Cultural Journalists Forum and Peshawar Press Club’s culture committee conducted the function together. The theme for this year was ‘music for peace.’

Resolutions were passed about welfare and providing health facilities to the singers and actors. Free Medical treatment for Hidayatullah, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, Sidra Ali and Akbar Hussain Ustad was demanded.

A musical concert was also held at the event in which Dilraj, Malala Gul, Sitara Younas, Meena Gul, Hashmat Sahar and Arshad Akbar performed. Gulabkhel Afridi, a Rabab player, kept the audience entertained by playing charming tunes.
