The Legend of Maula Jatt is not just a film, it is a phenomenon. After hanging in the balance for several years, the film was finally released in 2022 and it has become the first ever [Pakistani film to cross 200 crores, breaking several records for South Asian films abroad and still shows no signs of slowing down. Fawad Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi starrer magnum opus brought back Bilal Lashari’s magic to big screens and people are simple in love.
The film is still ruling the Pakistani cinemas and was a massive hit in several European markets as well as the UK. The hype made the film’s release a demand in India but Pakistani films are banned from releasing there while Indian films are banned from largely releasing in Pakistan. There have been a few exceptions as a few films from Indian Punjab have released here and now The Legend of Maula Jatt is going to release in Indian Punjab and Delhi despite the bans.
This is definitely a treat for all Fawad Khan fans across the border who was banned from working there by Hindu extremists a few years ago. A recent order by Delhi court has for the time being suspended the release of the film in the capital though.
