Wasim Akram is a legend of cricket. He has made many records for Pakistan in the game and he was also a part of the World Cup winning eleven in the year 1992. Wasim Akram is also known as the Sultan of Swing and he is still one of the greats of the game and mentors youngsters. Wasim was a guest on Fakhar e Aalam’s show and he opened up about how he lost his first wife Huma Wasim in a medical tragedy.
Wasim Akram shared that he met Huma when she was only 18 and he was 20. He has earlier talked about how she was the one who managed everything about the family and how she stood with him when he was going through his addiction issues. The time that he realized that he needs to change himself, Wasim lost Huma. Talking about her disease, he shared that she only got a sore throat along with the kids when they came back to Lahore from a vacation in Karachi. The children recovered but she didn’t.
Wasim broke into tears as he shared that his wife never got properly diagnosed and the family got dragged from one hospital to another. He finally had to take her in an air ambulance to Singapore but she collapsed while they were refuelling in India. That is where she was taken to the ICU and finally left this mortal world.
