Zanjabeel Asim Shah is a star writer who has given some of the biggest hit dramas in the last decade. Pyar Ke Sadqay, Noor Jahan, Sher, Bismil and the currently on-air Pamaal are all written by her. She is known to understand the audience and she writes dramas and stories that always resonate with the audience.
Zanjabeel Asim Shah sat down with Aamna Haider Isani and she spoke about her life, marriage and how she became who she is today. The writer revealed that she hails from Hyderabad and she had a bit of a complicated upbringing as her father passed away when she was young and a relative of hers whom she calls Amma brought her up. She grew up around a big family and she had to adjust after she entered her teenage years as she had to move back with her own mother. She also revealed that she used to be a lazy student till 8th standard as her adoptive family treated her like a princess. She started becoming serious about studies after she passed 8th standard.

Zanjabeel Asim Shah got married at the age of 21. She appreciated her husband and the warmth and confidence he brought into her life. She added that looking back she sees how she was really young. Today you cannot even think about marrying a 21 year old. She revealed that after 12 years of marriage and two daughters, her husband was diagnosed with cancer and he passed away soon after. He empowered her and taught her how to fight the world in his last days.

Zanjabeel also revealed how her husband empowered her. He taught her how to drive, how to repair the generator and how to write cheques. After his diagnosis, she one day came home after having a bad encounter with a male driver on the road. She told her husband how he was staring at her. Her husband taught her to stare back. He told her to never back down and stand her ground, whatever the circumstances may be.
