Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan formally inaugurated the Kartarpur Corridor on Saturday 9th November 2019. The corridor now connects the Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India’s Punjab with Darbar Sahib at Kartarpur, just 4 Km from the International Border, located at Narowal district of Pakistan’s Punjab province. The historic act has now paved the way for Indian Sikh pilgrims to visit one of their religion’s holiest sites in Pakistan without needing a visa.
Alongside a historic number of Sikh Pilgrims the inaugration of the Kartarpur Corridor was also attended by former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu, actor Sunny Deol and ex PM India Manmohan Singh as well.
Following the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor, Imran Khan has received immense praise from not only the world over but from the entire nation of Pakistan as well. Celebrities in Pakistan have been tweeting congratulating Imran Khan and drawing a vast comparison between Pakistan and India, where the Supreme Court, passed another historic verdict allowing Babri Masjid to be demolished and built into a temple in India.
