Aagha Ali is one talented leading man of the Pakistani entertainment industry. He has worked in dramas and he has also successfully tried his hand at singing. His songs were loved by the audience and he is a star as he is loved on screen as well. Aagha Ali comes from a very talented family but he has worked really hard to reach this point in his career.
He was a guest on Hasna Mana hai and he revealed that during the 2016-2017 era, actresses seemed to refuse to work with him. The producers would tell him that the fiances of those well-known actresses are asking them to not work with you as he had a very playboy reputation. Aagha Ali actually talked to an actress’ fiance to let her work with him as those are all rumours.
He also talked about how he struggled in the beginning of his career. He used to cry and that is when he decided to move to Karachi. His mother permitted him. He washed his mothers’ feet, drank that water and asked her to pay for him and those prayers eventually worked for the actor as he kept struggling to do better work.

Yesterday’s episode of Jaan-e-Jahan left me uncertain about continuing with the drama, given the high expectations I had. However, I am glad I decided to tune in for the latest installment. Ayeza Khan and Hamza Ali Abbasi’s on-screen chemistry proved to be the highlight of this episode, injecting a much-needed breath of fresh air into the storyline. Additionally, Mahnoor’s positive energy played a pivotal role in infusing life into Shehram’s otherwise stagnant world. This also gave Hamza Ali Abbasi the opportunity to smile! He does not have enough to work with at the moment because in the previous 3 episodes, his scenes have been more or less the same. It is clear by now that Mahnoor’s determination will serve as the main driving force for character development and plot progression. That is why the writer has relegated all the other important supporting characters to the background for now. Although I still feel that the script overall is too plain given the serious nature of the storyline in comparison to the lackluster quality of the preceding two episodes, this one was better.
Tonight’s episode opened with Zeenat, the ‘chamak challo’ (thank you ‘Urs’) trying to woo Shehram yet again while he turned her away politely for the 10th time! These scenes are as typical as they get and I honestly feel that there was no need to add this character to this narrative since Kishwar is already poisoning Shehram! If she is eventually planning to kill him, mentally cripple him, or anything along these lines then what is the point of marrying him off to someone? The apparent contradiction in Kishwar’s actions is one of the many loopholes in the plot. Zeenat’s presence not only lacks significance but also proves to be a source of irritation. The inclusion of a comical element in a drama centered on a serious issue feels unnecessary. While Zeenat, is scheming and executing evil plans, the juxtaposition of another attempting to be excessively cute creates a tonal imbalance that detracts from the overall gravity of the narrative. Zeenat, your attempts at being cute are neither endearing nor amusing; kindly step aside.
The dinner table scene adeptly highlighted Kishwar’s strategic moves, emphasizing the ease with which she is advancing her agenda. Shehram’s evident trust in her becomes relatable, considering the prevailing circumstances. The fact that Shehram uttered Mahnoor’s name upon regaining consciousness implied that their conversation served as a catalyst, providing him with the motivation to end the self-imposed isolation and actively engage in addressing school-related matters and other concerns.
Tabraiz’s scenes showed how he was pursuing the worker at the factory and wasting his time playing games while he was at work. Despite receiving a considerable amount of screen time today, these scenes failed to introduce any novel elements, leaving them devoid of fresh or engaging content. In fact both the sons are few of the many unappealing and half-baked supporting characters, lacking the ability to contribute significantly to the overall narrative.
Mahnoor is evolving as the only character with inherent appeal, with Ayeza Khan’s performance elevating the impact of this particular track. I do feel, however, that Mahnoor’s track also lacks depth and intensity, especially given her circumstances. The concluding scene between Mahnoor and Shehram proved to be the episode’s highlight, offering a refreshing respite from the prevailing toxicity within Shehram’s household. Mahnoor undeniably took center stage once again. I am anxiously waiting for Shehram’s character to evolve and fulfill his promise, given the weight of expectations placed on him by his father. While Mahnoor’s daily visits may provide some solace to Shehram, addressing the impact of whatever his stepmother is administering him is far more important.
This episode was relatively better as there was some progress in the storyline. The plainness of the script, in my view, detracts from the potential depth the storyline could achieve. The smooth direction, top-notch sound quality, and meticulous camerawork stood out in this particular episode. While the captivating visuals and Mahnoor’s character contribute significantly to the show’s appeal, their impact alone may not be sufficient to entirely salvage the overall narrative. Can these visuals and Mahnoor’s character alone save the day? The success of the drama ultimately depends on a well-crafted and cohesive storyline that effectively weaves together various elements, ensuring a compelling and satisfying viewing experience. So far, there have been more lows rather than highs, reflecting shortcomings in the story writing.
Fawad Khan is a brilliant Pakistani television and film actor and a former vocalist of the famous old band EP. He rose to fame through his block buster serial Humsafar. He has also worked in Ashk and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. Lately, Fawad Khan’s hit movie The Legend of Maula Jatt created a buzz. The movie was an international hit and all the actors were loved across the globe.
In the podcast, Excuse Me with Ahmed Ali Butt, Fawad Khan replied to the questions of Ahmed Ali Butt about the success and stardom of Pakistani actors in India. He also talked about Pakistani actors being a threat for Indian actors.
To the question, “were Pakistani actors a threat to Indian actors?” Fawad Khan said, “It is a difficult question because I got a lot of love from India, also, I think that politics is everywhere but you can combat it better in your own country. I am not saying that it is unheard of, but I am the one who urged my PR team in India to remove my name from the places and not to put me on the map. I am quite a different person. I don’t agree with the fact that if you have a huge following on social media, you are loved; I believe, if you are exclusive, you will be loved more”
In the show he also talked about fetching the famous Indian film Khoobsurat with Sonam Kapoor. Talking about it, he said, “Yes, I gave a screen test for Khoobsurat, obviously, it happened because of Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. I was open to grab that opportunity. I was not prepared for it, I just went with the flow. In all honesty, I was all open for any good opportunity that was coming my way. I enjoy the process of doing a project, if you enjoy the process the audience will see the project shining. I was not thinking about anything like Khoobsurat but I was just riding the waves. I really enjoyed working with the cast of Khoobsurat. It was a great experience. I have all positive things to talk about it.”
Talking about working in the film Kapoor and Sons, Fawad Khan said, “Kapoor and Sons was again very close project to my heart because of the same reason that the team was so good. Kapoor and Sons is a big film. Also, it offers you a great storytelling. I don’t get bored watching Kapoor and Sons, otherwise, I am the person who gets bored of watching his own projects”

Lately, the singer appeared in Nadir Ali’s podcast where he shared his heartwarming experience in Masjid E Nabwi.
Talking about it, Sheraz Upal said, “I went for Umrah twice in 2017 and 2019. At that time, I was feeling quite unwell, I had a foot injury and it was difficult for me to reach Riaz Ul Jannah because there were a lot of people lined up in the queue. I prayed to Allah, ‘Oh Allah, help me out to reach Riaz Ul Jannah’, soon after my prayer, a religious man came to me, he recognized me and took me to Riaz Ul Jannah. The same happened with me twice. I think that Tu Kuja Man Kuja had been accepted “.
Aina Asif is a young and talented emerging Pakistani actress. She has gained huge popularity and fame in a very short span. Her hit dramas played a vital role in her success. Aina got recognition through daily soap serials like “Mayi Ri,” and “Baby Baji.” She has also appeared in notable drama serials such as “Pehli Si Muhabbat,” “Badnaseeb,” “Hum Tum,” “Pehchan,” and “Pinjra. In drama serial Baby Baji and Mayi Ri, Aina Asif portrayed a romantic character. Aina Asif’s portrayal of Ainie in “Mayi Ri” resonated with many Pakistani girls who got married at a very young age.
Lately, she appeared on the show ‘Had Kardi,’ hosted by Momin Saqib. During the show, she discussed how her fame and success changed her. When asked whether fame had changed her, Aina Asif replied, ‘Fame has changed one thing in me: now, I don’t go outside in my regular clothes. I always get ready before going out. Fame has taught me that one can’t simply wear normal clothes when going out; you have to maintain a certain appearance because people recognize you.’ Here is the link to the video:
Replying to the question, “Who Would you give the credit of your success?”. Aina Asif said, “the credit of my success only goes to Allah Ta’ala, he has given me the all success. I think there is no part of looks in my success. I want people to recognize through my work, and some people might still be of the view that I am not pretty, so, I think, the importance of hard work always stays relevant”. Pakistani artists have been through several incidents of violence throughout history. We have seen singers, dancers, actors and theatre performers getting targeted at different times and many have lost their lives. Sultan Rahi, the biggest superstar of the Pakistani film industry also got murdered and the industry still mourns his loss. We have heard several incidents of violence in KPK also where artists were targeted. So, this is a serious problem that artists have faced.
The recent actress to fall into this problem is Beena Chaudhry who has been a part of many dramas. She is recently seen in the drama Dooriyan on Hum TV starring Sami Khan. The actress is facing serious trouble and she took to her social media to share what she is going through with the world.
She shared that she is facing life threats. Beena added that she has been very vocal and she has received threats as a result. Affan Waheed is a hearththrob and he has a very loyal fan base. People love to watch his dramas and he has done a variety of characters in his career. His drama Pardes with Durefishan Saleem was a big hit and it was Durefishan’s first big break. She has grown a lot since then and she has given several hits. Affan and Durefishan’s pairing in Pardes was an instant hit and people were rooting for both the actors when the drama aired.
They also ended up doing a wedding shoot and many fans thought they were probably getting married. Random YouTube videos added fuel to the fire and the rumour spread a lot. Affan Waheed was a guest on Hasna Mana Hai where he was asked about this and he answered it very frankly.
He said that once you do a wedding shoot with a hit on-screen couple, such rumours spread and become fake news and that is all that was. Here is what he said:
He is an introvert and he has only a few friends in the industry. He shared that all his friends must have a few qualities. He wants them to be able to handle his mood swings and not take them personally and also they should be good listeners who can listen to you even if you are in the wrong and not judge you.
Aymen Saleem is a diva who managed to win hearts from the very first appearance she made on mainstream television. The actress became a household name when she played Mishi in Chupke Chupke. Jaan-e-Jahan has unfortunately witnessed a decline with each passing episode. The initial two episodes set a high standard, the third was satisfactory, but the fourth left much to be desired. The latest episode, however, presented numerous issues, making it challenging to take the storyline seriously. Shehram’s beard underwent more transformations in this episode than his state of mind, and the factory scene was poorly executed. Does the lady in question have short-term memory loss? The dialogues throughout the episode lacked the necessary impact, and the execution fell short of achieving the intended emotional depth. The only redeeming factor in this episode was Mahnoor’s genuine feelings for Shehram and the commendable on-screen chemistry between Hamza Ali Abbasi and Ayeza Khan, providing a glimmer of hope.
Additionally, it is worth mentioning that Shehram’s support system appears to be the weakest link in the drama. The employee (Aslam Sheikh), responsible for his well-being and who also had a close association with his father, appears surprisingly oblivious to the evident situation. Both the doctor and lawyer friend exhibit a sheepish attitude, and it appears that Murad Shah took all his wisdom with him.
Most of the scenes revolving around Shehram’s storyline felt repetitive and lacked the necessary depth. Particularly, the meeting between Shehram and Shehbaz could have been presented in a far more impactful manner, as it appeared too straightforward and lacked significant meaning. The portrayal of this crucial meeting offered only the bare minimum, failing to evoke the desired emotions. A notable aspect that could not be overlooked was the demeanor of the actor playing Shehbaz’s role during the meeting. Given the circumstances, a character of his stature should have been depicted with more grace and poise. His look and body language did not go well with his character arc. The overall execution fell short of capturing the intensity and significance of such a pivotal moment in the narrative. The dialogues were also plain and simple giving little clarity. Surely a lawyer whom Murad Shah trusted blindly had more to offer than what Shehbaz offered in this meeting. Also, the explanation he gave for not being able to reach out to Shehram was not convincing enough. Does Shehram not own a phone? And if not then maybe chacha should have advised him to keep one so that he is more accessible.
We found out today that Kishwar has not only given drugs to Shehram to consume on his own but she is also drugging his food! Well, this does explain Shehram’s state of mind but the fact that the doctor was not able to pick that up was an utter disappointment – were these the kind of incompetent people Murad Shah trusted with his life? Definitely not believable! Regrettably, the narrative has taken the predictable route of diminishing the intelligence of other characters, allowing the negative character to manipulate the situation.
The factory scene left me utterly perplexed. It seemed implausible that the factory worker could simply forget the traumatic incident involving Tabraiz that occurred just a few days ago. Her portrayal suggested a complete lack of recollection as if the incident had never taken place. What was even more baffling was her demeanor – turning back and casting a seemingly ‘inviting’ glance at Tabraiz. This particular moment felt poorly conceived and stood out as the most poorly executed scene in the entire episode. Also, Nawal Saeed’s makeover does not align with the role she is playing. Tabraiz’s scenes contribute little to the narrative; they embody the epitome of a typical and stereotypical brat role. The character’s lack of intelligence further diminishes its appeal.
The only impactful moments in this episode revolved around the interactions between Mahnoor and Shehram. Additionally, the dream sequence featuring Shehram’s mother stood out, delivering meaningful dialogue that had the potential to significantly influence his state of mind. Mahnoor could decipher more about Shehram’s state of mind in these two short meetings than his ‘well-wishers’ did in this episode! She is already worried for Shehram and is clearly all set to play the role of the ‘savior’. I appreciate the refreshing twist where, for a change, the woman takes on the role of the rescuer, reversing traditional gender roles. However, I did not like the way Mahnoor referred to Shehram in her conversations with her family. There was no ‘sahab’ involved; she talked about him too casually, almost implying a lack of respect. It also struck me as odd that she made no mention of his father’s promise to hers, concentrating solely on the teaching aspect and overlooking the pledged commitment.
This episode left much to be desired, both in terms of its writing and direction. Unfortunately, the writer has opted for a predictable course by downplaying the intelligence of positive supporting characters, thereby enabling the negative character to completely take over. Despite these shortcomings, Mahnoor’s ambitions and the chemistry between the lead actors offer some optimism for future episodes. Given Shehram’s vulnerabilities, Kishwar’s negativity, and the naivety and helplessness of Shehram’s support system, there is little hope. However, my curiosity is piqued to discover how Mahnoor will eventually ‘rescue’ Shehram!

Writer: Amna Mufti Director: Mohammad Saqib Khan Producer: Momina Duraid Productions Schedule: Tuesday 8 pm on Hum
I was initially drawn to Khushbo Mein Basay Khat due to the talented scriptwriter Amna Mufti. Known for crafting impactful stories with a touch of novelty, Amna Mufti’s work has always been impressive. As I watched each episode, I was pleasantly surprised by the engagement value of the drama. The top-notch execution of the storyline added an extra layer of excellence, proving to be a delightful bonus. So far, Khushbo Mein Basay Khat has not only lived up to my expectations set by Amna Mufti’s reputation but also surpassed them, offering a compelling and refreshing viewing experience. This drama also serves as a fitting canvas for many of the talented actors of the Pakistani drama industry to display their excellent acting skills.
Khushbo Mein Basay Khat’s engaging narrative serves as a testament to the fact that the portrayal of characters holds immense significance, at times transcending the storyline itself. In a landscape saturated with stories of oppressive husbands and the plight of their wives, Khushbo Mein Basay Khat is a unique and innovative take on this familiar theme. It goes beyond simply telling a story, emphasizing the value of exploring the depth and nuances of each character. The various dimensions of these characters are the main attraction of the drama. While many such stories tend to center predominantly on the protagonists, relegating side characters to stereotypical roles, Khushbo Mein Basay Khat defies this convention by presenting supporting characters that are far from typical.
As I watched each episode, I found it interesting how the writer has integrated characters from various age groups into the storyline. The viewers get to see the story unfold from different perspectives through these characters. Khushbo Mein Basay Khat’s distinctiveness not only hinges on its well-crafted characterizations but is further accentuated by impeccable casting choices. Every actor flawlessly embodies the role assigned to them, showcasing a remarkable level of precision and skill. Also, the treatment given to the script truly makes this drama stand out. The scenes are to the point, with the director skillfully preserving every emotional detail for the viewers to absorb. The adept utilization of natural lighting in every scene elevates the overall quality of each frame, brilliantly highlighting the colors and turning every scene into a visual treat.
Khushbo Mein Basay Khat Characters
At the heart of Khushbo Mein Basay Khat is its central protagonist, Ahmed Zaryab, portrayed with impeccable skill by Adnan Siddiqui. Following his compelling portrayal as Shehwar in Mere Pass Tum Ho, Adnan Siddiqui once again impresses with his nuanced performance in this particular drama. While there are similarities between the characters of Ahmed Zaryab and Shehwar, they are two completely different characters in their own right. Ahmed Zaryab, a dil phenk poet, exists in a world orbiting around his self. His fascination with women is a matter he approaches with utmost seriousness, displaying a remarkable lack of reservation even in conversations with his wife. He embodies the quintessential narcissist, prioritizing his desires and identity above all else, with an ego inflated to significant proportions.
What sets Ahmed Zaryab’s character apart from other such characters and makes it interesting are the concealed insecurities that lurk beneath his exterior. His response to Husna mentioning his age and the way he reacted to his wife’s innocent conversation with his friend unveiled vulnerability not apparent in his confident facade. These instances expose a side of him that contradicts the outward projection of security, revealing a complex and multifaceted personality. One can’t help but wonder whether Ahmed Zaryab’s habit of surrounding himself with beautiful women and belittling his wife is a compensatory mechanism rooted in his underlying insecurities, possibly stemming from concerns about his age. However, through his wife’s discussions with her mother, we discover that he has consistently exhibited such behavior.
Ahmed Zaryab’s attraction towards women and girls is not one-sided; his charismatic persona also resonates with women across various age groups. This fact is substantiated through different scenes across the first four episodes. The contrast between Ahmed Zaryab’s appealing public persona and the troubling aspects of his private life, especially concerning his wife and children, strongly emphasizes the enduring wisdom encapsulated in the saying: “All that glitters is not gold.” This also emphasizes how appearances can be deceiving.
Adeela played beautifully by Nadia Jamil is Ahmed Zaryab’s wife who has a heart of gold and is the complete opposite of her husband. She is a dedicated heart surgeon who seamlessly juggles the roles of a nurturing mother and a committed wife. She fell for Ahmed Zaryab’s charismatic personality and has remained steadfastly accepting and patient throughout the years. Their marriage, however, is marred by toxicity, leaving Adeela profoundly unhappy. Despite the evident strain, she chooses to ‘overlook’ Ahmed Zaryab’s toxic behavior and personality and even continues loving him. She sees the ‘differences’ between them as a compatibility issue more than anything else. Even when her mother highlights Ahmed’s toxic behavior, Adeela opts for silence. There are certainly moments when her patience becomes challenging to comprehend. Adeela epitomizes the women who, in the pursuit of sustaining a marriage, uphold an unwavering commitment, often at the cost of their mental well-being. Nadia Jamil portrays this character with exquisite finesse, shedding light on Adeela’s underlying heartbreak, her annoyance as well as her enduring love for her family.
Husna is another one of the prominent leading characters in the drama played with precision by Kinza Hashmi. Perhaps for the first time, I feel that Kinza is playing a role that has room for performance and she seems to be enjoying that. Husna comes from a suffocated lower middle-class family and was raised by her stepmother. She opted for Urdu as a major in the University only because she did not qualify for any of the other subjects. Additionally, attending university provided her with a vital escape from the stifling environment of her household. Husna’s character diverges from the typical narrative of a girl hailing from a similar background with ambitious aspirations. She possesses a distinctive and robust personality that makes this character interesting as well as different. Husna might not be academically brilliant and she is not even street smart but she has a sense of adventure which most girls her age have and she knows how to get what she wants. What sets her apart is her charming innocence and cuteness, creating a character that resonates uniquely and refreshingly compared to the countless similar portrayals we have witnessed on-screen.
Alee Hassan Shah’s portrayal of Parvez in the drama is just as interesting as that of Husna. As Husna’s cousin who is smitten by her, his character is uniquely written and stands out from other such supporting characters in usual dramas. Parvez’s affection for Husna adds an amusing and endearing touch, contributing to the overall charm of this track. Similarly, there is an inherent charm and cuteness to Parvez’s character, mirroring the likable qualities found in Husna. These qualities align seamlessly with the age group that both Husna and Parvez represent.
Penny played by Sidra Niazi is a married woman and the only female poet in the drama who is unhappy with her married life and romantically involved with Ahmed Zaryab. This character also has an appeal just like the other supporting characters. The writer and the director have ensured that none of Penny’s antics go unnoticed. Shehryar (Saleem Mairaj) and Afaqi’s (Rashid Farooqi) scenes with her and their conversations with each other have been effectively used by the writer to give the viewers all the information they need about Penny’s mindset and her present circumstances. These two supporting characters help build up the right atmosphere and also help the viewers understand different facets of the personalities of others around them. Saleem Mairaj and Rashid Farooqi, both remarkable actors, display an incredible on-screen chemistry that brings their scenes to life. As the closest male friends to Ahmed Zaryab, they possess an in-depth understanding of his character. While not necessarily holding Zaryab in high regard, they exhibit a sense of loyalty, often functioning as enablers.
Wania Nadeem plays the role of Jahan Ara, who is Husna’s friend and class fellow. Jahan Ara’s story is different from that of Husna since her mother is the main reason why she ended up taking Urdu as a major and she has the pressure to make her mother’s dreams come true. Her personality is rather plain when compared to Husna but I have a feeling that we will be seeing a lot of character development as the story progresses. Miss Tabinda is another interesting supporting character in the drama who made her presence felt right from the beginning as the Urdu teacher who knows her students inside out. I find this character intriguing since her constant reminders to Husna about Ahmed Zaryab suggest that she might have had a similar experience with him. Also, it was rather interesting the way she looked at him with reverence when he came to the University.
Faiza Gillani is another exceptional actress who plays the role of Husna’s phupo. This is another strong character in the drama that keeps my interest alive. Moreover, the unexpected twist in the plot, where Husna’s father (Shahnawaz Zaidi) surprises the audience by lying for her and supporting her aspirations, adds a layer of complexity and unpredictability to the narrative, further enhancing the overall interest and appeal of the drama. Husna’s stepmother (Nazlin Mirza) has been shown as an excessively overprotective parent who is constantly scared of going wrong. Even though she does not completely trust Husna, the relationship that these two share is not toxic in a stereotypical manner.
Khushbo Mein Basay Khat is off to a strong start, setting the stage for an engaging narrative. So far, it stands as a complete package seamlessly integrating various facets of commercial appeal and high-quality content. It is worth watching! Apart from the excessive smoking in the drama with the persistent cautionary notes on the hazards of smoking, everything else has been on point.
