It was last year in November when actor, Hamza Ali Abbasi announced his exit from social media. Hamza shared how he had embarked on a spiritual journey and would spend the rest of his life spreading the message of Allah and Islam.
In his announcement, Hamza Ali Abbasi had also stated that he would focus on creating meaningful content that would further spread the message of Islam in the world and it seems, he has found his template for that with his drama serial Alif.
Talking to fellow Muslims at the East Plano Islamic Centre (EPIC) in Dallas , Hamza Ali Abbasi who was surprised by the popularity of Alif, stated, “I had thought Maula Jatt would be my last project but there were things I had to do. I had taken the decision to dedicate my life to spreading the message of Islam and Alif is the first step in that because it has the message of Allah.”
Sharing how he had his expertise in film making and that he’d put them to use Hamza added that he would definitely make some similar content to Alif in the future.
Upon signing Alif, Hamza Ali Abbasi had shared that the project had been very close to his hearts, perhaps reflecting his own journey of self discovery and love for his Creator.
“Me as Momin in #Alif & the shoot has finally started. Its not just a drama serial for me but a passion project with a message which is very close to my heart. Coming soon,” Hamza had written on his social media while presenting the teaser.

Alif, based on a novel by Umera Ahmed, is a drama that airs on Geo Entertainment. The drama stars Hamza Ali Abbasi and Sajal Aly in the lead while Kubra Khan, Manzar Sehbai and Ahsan Khan play pivotal roles. Alif follows the spiritual journey of a filmmaker on path of self discovery and getting closer to his Creator while living his worldly life. Exceptionally directed by Haseeb Hassan, Alif is one of the best drama serials on air these days.
