So, this wonderful journey named ‘Kaneez’ came to an end. In the last scene we saw Peer Bakht with his 2 wives and their naya nawela waaris.. I really loved the show but the ending? NA, not so! Maybe it was the sudden unrealistic change in Bibi Murshed’s behaviour or the ressemblace with Doosri Biwi’s end, but I just don’t think the end did justice to the drama. Anyhow, before I discuss that let’s take a look at what the last few episodes had to offer.
What I really loved about Kaneez were the realistic & dynamic characters. One of my most favourites was that of Peer Saleh, a typical bigra hua peer and how he changed from that into a perfect human being. This dialogue describes the change in Saleh’s personality in a perfect way “mere parwardigar ne mujh gunehgaar per khas rehm kiya or mujhe wahan bheejdiya. Khaas inayat hai mere rab ki mujh per, haadsaat ke baad haadsaat ne mujhe hila kar rakh diya. Meri shaan ko thikane laga diya. Mere dimaagh me takkabur ki sari chah nikal gayi. Bacha to, eek khali khuli khokla, peer Saleh.
Another significant change was that of Meherbano. She always lived in envy for her sister, deprived of love and had some extreme superiority feelings. But her daughter’s marriage & death changed all of that. At first, she wasn’t ready to accept her husband’s long lost wife and daughter but eventually gave in and accepted Saadiqa and Tahira with open arms. I really liked the fall of her ego & the scene where she hugged Saadiqa was very well written, acted and directed.
