Recently, Mathira appeared in The Night Show with Ayaz Samoo where she talked about the restrictions and rejections she had to face while entering main stream media. Ayaz Samoo asked, ‘Were you rejected on television and producers said to you that you are not television material?, replying to it, she said, “Yes, I was told by the industry people that I’m not a TV material, I was rejected when I badly needed the job, I was going through a rough time in my life, I just got divorced, at that time people said that you are dark, had you been a little fairer you could look innocent, I said to them, ‘okay, I am bad, now tell?’. She further said, “Yes, producers are reluctant to cast me in the projects, it’s true and I still don’t know why they are reluctant to cast me, also, I don’t give any tough time to producers. I don’t know why I’m an alien to this society and industry, if others wear short dresses they are considered to be cool, like many other top actresses, but when I wear short dresses, I get trolled.
