Yesterday, heartbreaking news of an 18-month-old baby girl’s tragedy broke the internet. A minor, 18 months old, was allegedly raped by a 17-year-old in Qayyumabad, Karachi. The young boy, who was a relative, allegedly took the child outside on the pretext of taking her for a walk and sexually assaulted her. The child was brought back in deteriorating condition, after which the little girl lost her life during treatment. According to the medical report, she had allegedly been subjected to sexual assault. Police arrested the suspect from his home, and further investigation is underway.
Today, the little baby girl’s mother shared the heartbreaking details of what happened to her child while crying.
The mother said, “I just came from my job at 3, after which I took my daughter to the market. She ate food, after which I had to go to the neighbour for something important. This guy, Manan, who is the grandson of my Phupho and has no father or mother, also used to come to our house for around 1.5 years. I used to trust him because he used to care for my kid too. He came and took my daughter for a walk, as he used to do that. After he brought my child back to her Khala, she was unconscious. When I reached home, my sister told me that Aizal was vomiting. I took her to a clinic. The doctor said she had been vomiting, maybe because she ate stale milk. I came home and gave her ORS, after which she slept. When I changed her diaper, she was bleeding. She was not responding, and her heartbeat had stopped, her lips turned black. I told everyone to take her to the hospital, but no one came to her. I took her hospital by myself, I don’t live with my husband. No one came to the janaza. My Phupho didn’t come. She was just 1.5 years old. She had a post-mortem, and her bones were broken.
