Naeem Abbas Rufi is a classical Pakistani singer who rose to fame after signing popular Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan songs in concerts. He does concerts across the world and sings live for long hours. Ayaa Laariye was his famous Coke Studio song. Recently, he appeared in Nadir Ali’s podcast where he revealed that singers use to have hash and drinks inorder to improve voice. He refered alcohol as water. He further revealed that water (alcohol) is common in actors as well.

Talking about Pakistani singers who consume drugs for improving voice, he said, “some singers use to consume drugs (hash) for improving voice but it’s their misconception that it helps improve the throat, those singers are following a few big singers (from past) who used to have hash, but those big singers had a proper diet regime. It’s not like they used drugs without a solid diet. Also, the hash isn’t good as it dries up the throat. The other thing that singers use is good for throat and voice, it’s okay for the singers to drink water (alcohol), it helps in improving voice.
