Talking about it, he said, “I would like to give credit of old PTV dramas to those makers who are no longer with us, they were so disciplined and professional in their world. We were lucky to have worked with Ashfaq Ahmed who used to sit with us and correct us. Yawar Hayat, Muhammad Nisar Hussain, they used to monitor our rehearsals which were very strict, we weren’t even allowed to talk. Nowadays, there are no rehearsals. They are following shortcuts now. The girls today spend two hours in make-up. I often say to them, ‘Do you have this much patience to spend hours in make-up? If they prepare for the script, their work will shine. Now, the associate director gives them a page right before the shot. Also, many girls are busy calling friends and replying to them on phone like, ‘Oh, ok! The main purpose of live transmissions is to educate viewers, and give them Ramadan related entertainment. This year every channel is airing live transmissions hosted by multiple famous actors. Sometimes, these actors/hosts are directed to catch the audiences’ attention through over the top actions and segments in order to grab ratings and views. My Dear Cinderella is a new Ramadan drama that started airing on Hum TV. The Rmadan show has a family story with the ever present rom-com themes. The show is lead by Khaqan Shahnawaz and Zara Peerzada. Other cast members include Juggan Kazim, Tara Mehmood and Seemi Pasha who are playing the other main characters. The drama is written by Hassan Imam and directed by Mohsin Talat.

The drama started as a typical loud story with Zara Peerzada playing the titular Cinderella in the show. Zara Peerzada is playing the main lead but her expressions looked frozen in each frame. Her presence was robotic. This is her first show and she is otherwise a supermodel thus the change in camera was felt. Khaqan Shahnawaz did not get much screen time but he looked like he does in his social media content. He is playing a Pashtoon character and things may change with more episodes.

My Dear Cinderella once again failed in what most Pakistani comedy shows fail. The jokes were once again stereotyping both Punjabis and Pashtoons. Pashtoons with their lightly spiced food while a Punjabi was shown sleeping in red lipstick. The jokes were loud but not impactful and the writing of the script could have been better.

Viewers also felt that casting for the lead actress could have been changed as Zara looked very robotic in all the scenes. Others felt that this is another miss for Ramadan shows. This is what they had to say:

Mere Paas Tum Ho is a cult classic. A drama that changed the dynamics of Pakistani men shown on television and it became a blockbuster hit globally. The finale was shown in cinemas and fans were dying for the ending to telecast. A drama which left a lasting impact on the audience and Danish’s death is still commemorated by fans. Another character that was loved by millions was Rumi played by Shees Sajjad Gul in the show.

Rumi was one of the main characters in the Mere Paas Tum Ho and it left an impact with how he witnessed Danish’s death. Shees Sajjad Gul became a household name with the role though he was just a young child. He had worked hard on the show and now he is growing up and he has worked in other projects.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan has become a staple on all the morning shows where she shares her expertise. She has become famous recently for her very blunt statements and she does not care about how people will receive her. She says what is on her mind. She was a guest on the Samaa podcast and she finally addressed her own marriage situation and revealed if she is single or not.

Dr Nabiha Ali Khan opened up abbout her own married life. She said that she wanted to be an actress and went for a role where she met her husband who used to be a producer. He was way older than her and told her that she is still young and she can come back in 10 years if she wants to be a heroine but he can make her his wife. The age gap was too big but he did a hunger strike for two days in front of her house and her mother finally said yes. They both got married and had a son.

Her husband passed away when her son was only 3 and she has still not told him that his father is dead. She believes in love because of her husband and as he never wanted her to have anyone else in her life. She has remained single even after his death. She has seen many hardships after she became a widow but she has persevered.
