I had to maintain strictness in the house, which led to the conflict, but everything is fine now. We fought as part of the game; there are no personal issues. You don’t invade others’ privacy or interfere while they’re doing their job. Let them be, let them have fun, and just be yourself.”

Talking about financial independence, she said, “Economic independence is very important for women — there’s no question about it. It means that women should have a talent or skill that can be monetized. When you look at the structure and fabric of society, decision-making power stems from financial independence. In the case of an accident or any mishap, a financially independent woman can stand on her own. But when she is dependent, the power to make decisions slips from her hands — she can’t even make choices for her own children. Economic independence brings knowledge and decision-making power because when you go out and meet people, you learn and grow. Women are complete, functioning human beings with abilities that need to be utilized — but instead, we keep them confined at home and because of this many women outside are facing problems, like on Afghanistan, there are no female doctors to serve.”

Pakistan Idol is the newly launched musical reality show based on the format of American Idol which is the world’s most famous musical reality show. Previously, season 1 of Pakistan Idol aired around 11 years ago. The show airs on multiple channels including Green Entertainment, Geo and PTV Home. Zahid Ahmed was blunt when he said that he cannot believe that a vulgar show like Lazawal Ishq was made for Pakistan. He said that he will never become a part of a show which promotes vulgarity. He added that he has tried to know who is the producer of this show. This was a person who took Pakistani contestants and a Pakistani host but released it on YouTube in order to avoid PEMRA regulations. He added that he has not directly asked Ayesha Omer as they are not friends. He stated that such shows have a specific evil agenda and they are being released in order to propagate a certain thought.

Talking about his controversial statement regarding Hijab, he said, “Regarding Hijab, I agree with Javed Ahmed Ghamdi. Recently, people misquoted me, saying I spoke against the Quran. I quoted Ghamdi Sahib, who said: ‘In the Quran, there are three instances where women’s clothing is discussed. On two occasions in Surah Al-Ahzab, there are no permanent commandments regarding Hijab. There was one occasion when a command was given concerning the wives of the Prophet (S.A.W.W.), as they were being harassed and slandered by the disbelievers. Because of that, Allah sent a message specifically for the Prophet’s wives, instructing them to speak strictly with non-mahrams, to remain covered and dignified, and they were not allowed to remarry. Later, this command was extended to all Muslim women because Kufars started mistreating Muslim women. Then Allah said, ‘O Prophet, tell your wives and the believing women to draw their shawls (chaddar) over themselves.’ These were exceptional circumstances where Parda was commanded. In Surah An-Noor, Allah gave a permanent command in which He instructed both Muslim men and women to lower their gaze, guard their modesty, and not display their beauty publicly, but to cover their chests.’”
