Pakistani Documentaries ‘Girl in the River’ And ‘Among The Believers’ Nominated For Emmy Awards

The documentaries of Pakistani filmmakers Sharmeen Obaid Chinoy and Mohammad Ali Naqvi, have been nominated for the 38th annual news and documentary Emmy Awards.

Sharmeen Obaid’s documentary ‘Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness’, who had already bagged an Oscar has now earned three nominations in Emmy’s. It is nominated in the categories of Best Documentary, Outstanding Short Documentary and Outstanding Music and Sound.

Sharmeen has also expressed her pleasure for getting nominations for ‘Girl in the River’ in Emmy Awards and have also thanked the team in her following tweet:

Sharmeen Obaid,  previously won an Emmy for her documentary ‘Children of Taliban’ and two Emmy for ‘Saving Face’. She has also bagged an Oscar for ‘Saving Face’.

Mohammad Ali Naqvi’s ‘Among The Believers’ has been nominated in the category of Outstanding Politics and Government Documentary. The documentary has already won two awards at Doc Edge, an international documentary film festival in New Zealand.

The News & Documentary Emmy Awards will be presented on Oct 5th in New York.
