In April 2026, Somali armed pirates hijacked the oil tanker MT Honour 25, carrying around 10–11 Pakistani nationals. The abducted Pakistanis and their families appealed to the Pakistani government to save their lives, while the Somali pirates demanded a hefty amount. Unfortunately, the Pakistani government did not do anything for the families, and three of the 10 Pakistanis have reportedly been killed.
Now, the families of the deceased are asking for their bodies. Family members are making appeals to Shehbaz Sharif and other authorities to at least bring back the dead bodies.
Ansar Burney, head of Ansar Burney Trust International, also expressed grief over the loss of lives among the crew of MT Honour 25, stating that his organization had been warning relevant authorities for months regarding the life-threatening risks faced by the abducted crew and appealing for immediate action. Ansar Burney said that today there is mourning in the homes of the affected families, and the priority now should be the safe return of the injured crew and the prompt delivery of the bodies of the deceased to their families.
The deceased engineer’s son said, “How will we spend our lives without our father? I have sisters. How will we be able to get their dead bodies back?”
One deceased man’s mother said, “All I want to say to the Minister is that you didn’t save our children’s lives. Now, for God’s sake, bring back his body so we can at least see our child’s face. We pleaded and screamed many times, but the government didn’t pay any heed.”
