Rajab Butt is a renowned Pakistani digital creator known for his bold content and controversial personal and professional life. He has 9 million subscribers on YouTube, 3 million on Instagram, and around one million on TikTok. Nowadays, he is quite active on TikTok Live sessions with digital creators.
He recently faced severe public backlash for an insensitive joke about children on TikTok Live with Zaid Ali T. During a live broadcast with Zaid Ali, he commented on Zaid’s flat facial expression, saying that Zaid looked like a child who had been molested without even being offered money by the molester. The clip was then shared online by almost every digital creator, sparking widespread outrage.
Now, Rajab Butt has issued an apology in this regard. He has also admitted that the words he used were wrong and that he should have avoided them.
Taking to his Instagram story, Rajab Butt wrote, “Over the past few days, a video of mine has been circulating in which I said something that was extremely inappropriate and, regardless of my intentions or the situation at the time, completely below the belt. A joke like that is never, ever okay. Jokes like these have unfortunately been normalised in our society, particularly in gatherings among boys, but that does not and will never make them acceptable. Knowing how grave and painful the situation in our country is when it comes to this particular issue, I should have been more sensitive. Even beyond that, it is something that should never have been made a joke about in the first place. From the bottom of my heart, I apologise to everyone whose sentiments I have hurt, whose traumas I may have triggered, and who I have made uncomfortable through my words. This is an old video, but I understand that its age does not excuse what was said. I am trying to learn, unlearn, and become more mindful and responsible about the things I say and the impact they can have. I am genuinely sorry. Thank you.” Read here.
