Salman Ahmad Defends Sayonee

Sayonee’s remake of the Coke Studio was one of the biggest flops in Pakistani musical history. The video of Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Ali Noor’s song gained a lot of views on youtube, however, the reason that it did so is not good at all. Coke Studio’s Sayonee became the talk of the town for all the wrong reasons. Word spread on how bad it is and of course we all had to listen to the disaster from our own years to be sure.

The music director of the song, Salman Ahmad, however doesn’t believe what every media agency is saying- that Sayonee’s remake was a flat out disappointment. He used the twitter platform to defend the awful rendition of the song that Junoon sang in 1997. He pointed out the number of hits on the song and said that they show how successful the song’s rendition is. It seems like he decided to totally decided to ignore the hundreds of memes that were also generated in the song’s ‘honour’. Here are his defensive tweets:
