Sania Saeed is a senior Pakistani television actress known for her versatile acting and powerful performances. She began her career in the late 1980s with theatre. Her notable dramas include Aahat, Sitara Aur Mehrunissa, Zaibunnissa, Sang-e-Mar Mar, Shanakht, Raqeeb Se, Meri Guriya, Sang-e-Mah, Ae Dil, and others. Sania was married to director Shahid Shafaat, but they have reportedly parted ways. The senior actor is quite vocal about various social and political issues.

Recently, Sania Saeed appeared on Amna Haider Isani’s talk show, where she opened up about the lack of representation of minorities in Pakistani dramas, as if they do not exist in Pakistan.

Talking about it, Sania Saeed said, “On our television, when do we show other religions in dramas? We don’t see other communities as if they don’t exist. We did a serial Meherposh; although it wasn’t in the script, our director Mazhar Moin added a Hindu character. He showed that Ayeza Khan’s childhood friend was Hindu. Mazhar Moin does such experiments from his perspective, and we were reading the comments on Meherposh and were shocked to see our audience’s mindset, and how you are so hell-bent on catering to them. They were objecting to the Hindu portrayal, saying, ‘Who are they? Why was a Hindu shown in the drama? Is Star Plus being aired here?’ They behave as if no Hindus live in Pakistan. Pakistani ideology is prejudiced.” Watch here:
