Eyes can do all the magic when it comes to acting. A single flick of the eye can make or break a scene. Sometimes the impact of a whole scene comes simply with the expessions in the eyes and the audience will be able to relate to the character being potrayed on their screens only if the character smiles and cries through their eyes. We have some highly talented actresses who can make us laugh and cry with them and it is their eyes which bind us to their characters and make some memorable dramas. Though we have a large pool of starlets who always manage to win our hearts, here are a few whose power just cannot be denied:
Sajal Aly:
Sajal Aly is eye expression royalty. From bringing mischievousness to romance and anger to hatred, Sajal Aly knows how to make her eyes talk. Those who have seen it can testify that her character Chammi stood out in Aangan just because she would use her eyes to bring the character to life. The obsessive nature of Sassi that she portrayed in O Rangreza is also a testament to how beautifully she uses her eyes and brings characters from paper to screen like a miracle.
Yumna Zaidi:
If you have seen dar Si Jati Hai Sila, you would know the power Yumna Zaidi’s eyes hold. Even in Tere Bin, the audience could not relate to the change in script at the last moment because Yumna managed to portray the anguish of a victim on screen so precisely. The bewilderment in her eyes was telling a whole other story than we were being shown via dialogues.
Saba Qamar:
The literal queen in making her eyes talk. Saba Qamar’s versatility knows no bounds and she can just make you believe in anything just through the expressions in her eyes. The way she portrayed the pain, anguish and sense of betrayal in her last scene in Baaghi is one such example.
Sonya Hussyn:
Sonya Hussyn is quite underrated with respect to the talent she possesses. The actress nailed mental illness with the confusion she showed in her eyes in Saraab as well as the greed she showed in Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida. She was great in Dadal as well and more is yet to come from her.
Atiqa Odho:
Atiqa Odho has always been known for her beautiful eyes and her power to emote through them. Humsafar fans know that you knew how evil she was just by the way she looked at Khirad, just Ashar was too blind to see it. For those familiar with old PTV gems, a long play Zikar Hai Kai Saal Ka will show you how powerful Atiqa Odho’s eyes are.
Sania Saeed:
The versatile actress knows how to impress, how to portray helplessness and how to inculcate the fear of God in one’s heart with one movement of her eyes. Those who are living under a rock and not familiar with the power she holds need to watch Sang e Mah.
Savera Nadeem:
If you have seen Janjalpura, you will know the innocence she brought to the screens. If you have seen Bari Aapa you will be able to experience fear and pressure just from the way she looks at someone and with Wehem she portrayed intrigue with precision. Her one expression in Mere Paas Tum Ho was enough to take the drama to another level. She needs to work more as her fans are always waiting for her projects.
Ayeza Khan:
As we just spoke about Mere Paas Tum Ho, so how can we forget the greed, hatred and betrayal Ayeza Khan brought on the show. She can be the straight forward Farah of Pyare Afzal, the deceiver Mehwish of Mere Paas Tum Ho and who can forget her mischievousness in Chupke Chupke which took the show to another level. Ayeza is one confident queen of the eyes and she knows it.
Iqra Aziz:
Iqra Aziz is a very gifted actress and she knows how to use her eyes to bring the best of her characters on screen. Yes we know how famous Bhola got but the confidence which Noori exuded made the drama what it was. She also floored everyone with a grey character in Raqeeb Se and Iqra truly knows what she is doing.
Honourable mention for new contenders on the block:
Sabeena Farooq:
The whole world just showed their hatred for how Haya used to look at Meerab and hats off to Sabeena Farooq for pulling it off so seamlessly. Her obsession for Murtasim was visible in her eyes and that made all the impact one needed. She is right now mesmerizing everyone with her Ankhain in Kabli Pulao and she is the one to watch out for. Sabeena Farooq is a great addition to the industry and her potential should be realized.
Rabya Kulsoom:
Though a new entrant in the industry, Rabya Kulsoom has been able to catch everyone’s attention. She is so good that she has the ability to make supporting characters memorable in Pakistani dramas where they have nearly no role to play in the long run. She was able to hold her own while working with stars like Saba Qamar and Wahaj Ali and this potential must be nurtured.
