Shafqat Cheema is a legendary Pakistani film actor and producer, best known for portraying negative characters in most Lollywood films during the 1990s. He worked in the film industry for around 35 years, and his popular films include Kalay Chor, Godfather, Munda Bigra Jaye, Choorian, Haathi Mera Saathi, and many other blockbuster movies. He also appeared in several Pakistani dramas, including Khuda Aur Mohabbat, Ashk, and Heer Ranjha. Last year, the actor suffered a stroke that left him paralyzed.

Recently, Shafqat Cheema’s son gave an interview to Neo Digital, where he revealed the reason behind keeping his father’s illness away from the media.

Talking about it, he said, “Our father means everything to us. When he got sick, one of my sisters came from Manchester and the other from the USA on the first available flights. They also asked us not to show him in the media. The reason we didn’t do that is because people see him as a lion — we didn’t want his fans to see him in a weak state since they have a strong image of him in their minds.”
He further said, “Artists in the industry should always prioritize their families because, in the end, it’s your family who stands by you in difficult times. Make your family strong because it’s your real asset — don’t look outside for support. We gave our father so much love that he forgot everything else, but Reema was the one who truly stood by us. She came with her husband, and she always called to ask about him.”
