Talking about his media background, Tehseen Wajahat Chishti said, “My grandfather was the Naat Khuwan. His name was Muhammad Aalam Christi. He was one of the first Naat Khuwans at PTV. We have seen Farida Khanam, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan, and others at our home. Farida Khanam used to come for her singing practice. I was surprised to know that she was a big singer and was my grandfather’s friend. I had multiple interactions with her, but at that time I was unaware of her stature”. Here is the link to the video:
Talking about getting the first opportunity, he said, “I got my first opportunity in a sitcom, College Jeans, that used to air on PTV. They needed actors so we were selected. Ali Zafar was passing out from NCA; Ayesha Omar also was part of College Jeans. Although, I was not one of the main actors, but at least we got the show. After a while, Mani and I became the main characters of the College Jeans and did it for 6 months. Then, I got a Sarmad Khoosat play for Geo. I did another Geo and APlus drama and quit acting. I left acting due to payment issues. Now I am back with Fairy Tale”.
He further added, “It is difficult for outsiders to get work, or survive in the industry, especially if their family is conservative too. My family was quite supportive and thankfully I didn’t face any difficulties. My journey is so far smooth. Sometimes, you get a tough time from celebrities; I rarely faced it, which was before Fairy Tale; now, there is no such discrimination. I still feel that a few senior actors don’t bother to give cues, but I try to get the cues”. Here is what he said:
