Khalil ur Rehman Qamar is one of Pakistan’s most celebrated writers, known for his powerful dialogues and intense storytelling. He has written several blockbuster dramas including Pyaray Afzal, Sadqay Tumhare, Bunty I Love You, Laal Ishq, Mere Paas Tum Ho, Main Mar Gai Shaukat Ali and Landa Bazar. His latest drama, Main Manto Nahi Hoon, is currently making waves among viewers. The show is receiving solid viewership and impressive TRPs. While the audience is praising its strong script and performances, critics are divided over its controversial themes.

Khalil-ur-Rehman recently appeared in Next Gen Podcast, where he responded to the criticism on Main Manto Nahi Hoon for showing student teacher romantic story. He also bashed feminists for not shaming women who date married men.

Talking about the criticism on Main Manto Nahi Hoon, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said, “Did this student-teacher love never happen before? Haven’t students ever married their teachers? There are real-life instances where students have married their married teachers. I have shown an unmarried man — don’t deprive him of his marital rights. He didn’t date the girl; he simply proposed to her when he gathered the courage to do so. You are calling this decency an affair. Affairs are when women date married men. Love rarely happens, and only to a few lucky individuals. You can’t call every affair love — love is all about loyalty.”
Khalil ur Rehman Qamar further bashed the feminist for their selective calling out. Talking about married men involved in affairs, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said, “Whom are men having affairs with — each other? Have you ever caught those girls who are involved with married men? Have you ever protested against them or written placards against such women? You are only focused on criticizing men; that’s why you can’t see the women. Why do women go after married men? Why can’t they catch married men’s lies? In our times, marrying a working woman was considered a taboo because it was a man’s responsibility to spend on his woman.”
He further added, “You should penalize those characterless women who run after men. Who are they having affairs with? The ones who get pick and drop in a Prado? The women who truly deserve our respect are those who take buses early in the morning to earn a halal living for themselves and their families — such women are our pride. You have been taught that your respect lies in degrading the men of society. Don’t make men a bigger entity.”
