Pakistani dramas keep getting into ridiculous trends and if one gets ratings, all the others are seen doing a similar thing. Director Misbah Khalid is a veteran in the industry and she was a guest on Samaa TV at Madeha Naqvi’s morning show. She criticized the latest trends in dramas that are not making any sense. She pin pointed how all our dramas have daughters who are thrown out of the house in the middle of the night and no one is questioning this absurdity.

We recently saw this in dramas like Mere Humsafar, Jaan Nisar and Hasrat where families throw their daughters out and do not even check on them in many cases:

She further pointed out how in a very popular drama Ishq Murshid they showed the hero becoming a killer and then going back to be the much loved lover boy while no one batted an eye.

Zard Patton Ka Bunn is a drama made with collaboration with Kashf Foundation. It stars Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail in the lead and the drama is dealing with many issues of our society including overpopulation, lack of medical facilities and girls education. Sajal Aly is playing Meenu, a determind girl from Kesar Kallan who wants to become a doctor one day and she fights her brothers and patriarchy to pursue her dream. Zard Patton Ka Bunn is realistic and hard-hitting but at the same time easy to digest.

The latest episode showed how determined Meenu is. From getting a free cycle to making schemes for converting it into a motorcycle, she does everything. Meenu also tries to rescue her pregnant friend and that track shows how bad medical facilities are in our rural areas. Meenu’s determination was a motivating force for the viewers this week and everyone felt it deeply.

The T20 Cricket World Cup 2024 is taking place in the USA this year and Pakistan is also playing and representing their side. The start of this world cup has been sad for the Pakistani side as too much political involvement, wrong appointments in administration and wrong team selections have destroyed the morale of the players while fans do not have too many hopes either. Yesterday marked the biggest match of the tournament i.e. India vs Pakistan that was played in New York.

The whole team played in the worst way possible. Imad Wasim and Amir who were given extraordinary support from the board, Iftikhar who was dubbed as the finisher, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan who “used” to be the golden openers all failed in their respective fields. The only man who stood and fought till the end was Naseem Shah who not only bowled his best spell but also was the most impactful player with the bat. He was therefore in tears when the team was humiliated once again on an international platform. Indian players also came forward and appreciated him.

Though cricket fans do not have a lot of hopes from this team, it was still heart-breaking and they bucked up Naseem Shah. Naseem got support on social media for his effort and trying to actually win the game. Here is what they are saying:

Pakistani players could not even chase a modest target of 120. Despite having wickets in hand, the team couldn’t reach the target, and India won comfortably. Famous PTV news caster Taskeen Zafar passed away. Taskeen Zafar was a prominent Pakistani Urdu news caster and Radio announcer. She was born in Rawalpindi and in 1957, Taskeen Zafar’s broadcasting career spanned over four decades. She served PTV and Radio Pakistan for many years. In her superb career, Taskeen Zafar hosted multiple programs on Radio Pakistan and remained associated with Pakistan Television. She also conducted multiple current affair shows.

Today, the brilliant news caster passed away in Rawalpindi after a short term illness. Taskeen Zafar was 67 years old. The news of her passing was shared by Radio Pakistan and Pakistan Television Network. Her Namaz-e-Janaza will be offered at 4:30 pm at Eidgah, Lalkurti in Rawalpindi this afternoon.

The news caster joined Pakistan Television Network as an announcer in 1980. Taskeen Zafar was also presented with the Presidential award last year. Death of an experienced news caster is a big loss for Pakistan Television Network and Radio Pakistan. May Allah grant her higher ranks. Ameen.

Danish Taimoor’s drama serial Teri Chhaon Mein recently started airing on Hum TV. The drama has been written by Radain Shah. It has been directed by Abdullah Badini. Teri Chhaon Mein is produced by Momina Duraid Productions. The cast also features Laiba Khurram, Tara Mehmood, Sohail Sameer, Behroze Sabzwari and others. The story of the drama revolves around an obsessed stalker boy Salaar who falls in love with a girl Wadeema after seeing her on the roadside.

Well, a much talked-about scene of the drama is doing rounds on social media because of its uncanny resemblance with Bollywood’s film Tere Naam’ scene. In the scene, Salaar saw Wadeema for the first time on the road and fell in love with her, he chased her and also expressed his love for her. Not only this, he weirdly reacted to Wadeema’s speech in the university auditorium and made her feel awkward. This was also criticized by Yasir Hussain, who shared the scene with the caption, “What’s happening man? Who is the director of the drama serial?”. See the video:

Fans are super angry on Danish Taimoor’s drama serial that is being blatantly copied by Bollywood and is offering the same toxic storyline. A social media user wrote, “Why Danish Taimoor didn’t read the script before signing it”. A social media user said that she instantly recognised Tere Naam scenes in the first episode of Teri Chhaon Mein. A fan wrote, “Danish Taimoor should be ashamed while signing such scripts”. Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail are shining right now in Zard Patton Ka Bunn streaming on Hum TV. The drama is getting good feedback though it is only three episodes in and the stars have been promoting the show. Sajal Aly and Hamza Sohail are a new pairing for the screen and fans love to watch fresh pairings in dramas. The duo has impressed with their performances as well as on their press tour.

Talking to Express Tribune, both stars shared their thoughts and desires to work in Bollywood. Sajal Aly said that she would love to work with director Imtiaz Ali and her wish to work with Ranbir Kapoor if she gets a chance to star in Bollywood again. On the other hand Hamza Sohail said that there are many great actresses in Pakistan and he would love to worj with thwm first.

Gentleman is the new drama that marked the comeback of Humayun Saeed on television after 4 long years. Humayun Saeed is playing Iqbal Munna in the show who is a local goon but with a naive bent. He is cute and loves action who is falling for the lovely Zarnab played by Yumna Zaidi.

Another very famous goon who everyone loves due to his cuteness, sense of justice and fun is Munna Bhai MBBS played by Sanjay Dutt in the 2003 Bollywood film of the same name. He did great in the role and revived his career. Sanjay Dutt’s character is a part of pop culture and we all love to watch the movie and make memes out of it.

In an interview with Something Haute, Humayun revealed that he felt that the character might be inspired by Munna Bhai. He spoke to Khalil ur Rehman Qamar who said that it’s okay if he feels that way as the story will totally change in future and after a bit they started feeling that way too.

T20 World Cup 2024 is here and it is being played in the USA this time around. The Pakistan Cricket Team has been constantly disappointing their fans for the past some time. Not only on-field but off-field politics and conspiracies have put off the fans a lot.
