You all know how orthodox the tableeghi jamaats and Islamic groups are. Now, coming to the main point—not only did he leave music, but he also held a press conference announcing that he was leaving music because it is haram (forbidden in Islam), and he wanted all his friends to leave it too. One of our producer friends, Mohsin Jaffar from PTV, asked him, ‘You have earned your entire life from music, built properties, and even opened the clothing business J. from music money, and now you are saying it is haram?’ Junaid was speechless. His face turned red, he got angry and said that he had taken a fatwa stating that once you repent, it becomes halal. Now people call him a hero because he left music, but at the same time, they still listen to his songs which can be sinful for Junaid Jamshed. So, one should not be so rigid with religious beliefs.
