Samina Ahmed is a senior PTV actress who has been working in the entertainment industry for around 50 years. She gained recognition through her famous PTV classics. Her most popular shows include Waris, Lagan Apni Apni, Family Front, Suno Chanda, Ghisi Pitti Muhabbat, Aahat, Aangan, Baby Baji, and Mere Humsafar. Samina Ahmed’s recent blockbuster show was the saas-bahu drama Baby Baji, which broke popularity records, and its death sequence received huge public praise.
Recently, Samina Ahmed gave an interview to Beyond with Behjat. In the interview, she defended the unique storylines of currently airing Pakistani dramas.
Talking about it, Samina Ahmed said, “Some dramas are purely for entertainment. We have a trend of telling household stories like saas-bahu conflicts and domestic issues, but besides this, we also tell issue-oriented stories like child marriage, watta satta (exchange marriages), rape, child molestation, and women empowerment. We make all such dramas. Yes, we don’t discuss serious issues in every drama because we produce countless dramas that offer different kinds of content. Some are made purely for entertainment, while others are issue-based. If we are making 50 dramas a day, not all 50 will be good, but some stand out and receive international recognition. Nowadays, we are creating diversified content. We are also making tribal stories that portray violence and revenge. Like society, we are evolving, and we can’t stick to one type of story.” Watch here.
