Record income tax returns and more than 63% tax collected, FBR

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has said that after extending the date for filing income tax returns, record income tax returns have been filed till the last date.

According to the FBR statement, the highest income tax was collected for the first time during the filing on the last date after the extension. About 1.8 million income tax returns were filed till the last date and income tax of Rs 22 billion was collected.

According to a statement issued by the FBR, 1,730,000 returns were filed during the same period last year and an income tax of Rs 13.5 billion was collected.

According to a statement issued by the Federal Board of Revenue, more than 4% of income tax returns were filed this year and more than 63% of taxes were collected.

It is may be recalled that the FBR had extended the date for filing income tax returns to increase the number of tax filers.

According to the News, the number of income tax filers had reached 3 million in the financial year 2018-19. In the financial year 2017-18, the number of income tax filers was 2.76 million.
