Saad’s track, of course, was the most emotional element of this last episode of Ehd-e-Wafa. All the scenes covering Saad’s operation were shot, written and performed so well. I am sure I am not the only one who cried with Saad’s family and friends, completely forgetting that I was watching a drama. Ehd-e-Wafa’s ending was powerful and meaningful in so many ways. After a long time, I watched a last episode which was very well put together. This had to be the most impactful ending which will stay with us for a long time.

Must Watch

Many people criticized Ehd-e-Wafa for giving politicians a bad name, even BBC published an article on it. I always felt that this criticism was baseless and biased. I would love to hear from all those people today if they watched this last episode and if they haven’t I suggest that they watch it with an open mind. Shahzain’s conversation with Shariq and Shehryar summed up the importance of politicians and the significant role they play on the political front. In this last episode, the writer showed impeccably how the politicians, military, bureaucracy, and civilians play their respective roles. This last episode highlighted the importance of a few good individuals and how they can make a difference by using the authority they have in the right way. More than anything else, Ehd-e-Wafa’s last episode showed that even the most dedicated soldiers like Saad have a difficult time saying goodbyes. The way a rough and tough soldier was humanized throughout in this drama was one of the best part of Saad’s track. Very often, we forget just how much such military men are putting on stake and how many lives are attached to them.Ehd-e-Wafa Last Episode Story Review - Fantastic Surprise

Shahzain and Rani’s scenes were once again humorous and I am actually glad that this apology was not covered too seriously. It was also good to see Shahzain redeeming himself and changing for good. Humayun Saeed’s guest performance was a good addition to this last episode. I absolutely loved the Indian talk show scene, very well done indeed! The last few scenes shown when the credits were rolling were also remarkable, a perfect mix of old and present-day scenes which showed how far these boys had come. I would have loved to see more of Masooma.

Final Remarks

Ehd-e-Wafa turned out to be an emotional roller coaster ride in the true sense of the word. The promos were exciting and I had huge expectations from it. The first few episodes were hilarious and entertaining but once SSG fell out, things turned bitter and the writer did not do justice to all the tracks. The fact that most of the episodes were written later on probably gave the writer more of an insight into what the viewers wanted to see and as a result of that the drama truly took off starting from episode 14. There was no turning back after that. The story moved forward convincingly from here on. Ehd-e-Wafa was one of those dramas which took off a little late therefore this last episode it seems came a little too soon. Unlike many other dramas, it did not drag towards the end. It was a wholesome and entertaining journey overall which will be remembered for all the right reasons.Ehd-e-Wafa Last Episode Story Review - Fantastic Surprise

The best aspect of Ehd-e-Wafa was that it reinforced so many important and positive messages. There are hardly any Pakistani dramas that focus on young people. Ehd-e-Wafa’s different tracks provided inspiration and guidance for the youth which was refreshing and much-needed. Apart from that, the strong female characters were the highlight of Ehd-e-Wafa. We got to see working women on our television screens after a long time. This was a breakthrough because women are stereotyped in Pakistani dramas on a regular basis.

Script, Direction and Performances

The writer Mustafa Afridi penned down an excellent script that did not go off track. He will be remembered for giving us some of the best female leads this year. Saife Hassan’s skillful direction showed in every scene even when there were some shortcomings in the script. Saife Hassan did exceptionally well while shooting the outdoor scenes. I respect him a lot for introducing some of the best actors in the television industry. He does not shy away from working with new actors.Ehd-e-Wafa Last Episode Story Review - Fantastic Surprise

Ahad Raza Mir gave yet another outstanding performance in Ehd-e-Wafa. He never seizes to impress with his organic performances in roles which are anything but simple. The tears in his eyes today when he said goodbye to his friends and when he was going for the operation were priceless. Ahmed Ali Akbar truly outshone in his role, he made sure that he looked and acted according to the situation. Some of the expressions he gave in Ehd-e-Wafa alone were enough to make the viewers emotional. He proved that he is an exceptional actor. Wahaj Ali was equally convincing and likable throughout. These brilliant performances definitely added to the impact and entertainment value of this drama. The new actors Adnan Samad Khan, Naeema Butt and Muhammad Hunbal performed exceptionally well. The fact that these actors have already performed in theatre definitely gave them an edge but this was their first appearance on television, therefore, they deserve all the praise for giving some really good performances.

Zara Noor Abbas was entertaining as the fun and carefree Rani and later on Rani’s transition too was shown convincingly. Once Dua’s character came into its own, Alizeh Shah too gave a decent performance. Hajra Yamin was likable as the independent and wise young lady. It was an absolute treat watching Faraz Inam on screen after such a long time. Although his screen time was limited but every time he appeared on screen, he made his presence felt. Vaneeza Ahmed nailed the poised and intelligent side of her character. Saad and his parents’ relationship was one of the best aspects of the drama, really meaningful and poignant. I absolutely loved Khalifa Sajeer Uddin as Firdous sahab, what an exceptional actor and what an emotional journey. Anjum Habibi (Shehryar’s father) made me cry in every emotional scene, he is an exceptionally talented actor who should be seen on-screen more often. Syed Muhammad Ahmed is one of my favorite actors, it was good to see him in a different role and it is especially great watching him being part of so many dramas lately. I really liked Momina Iqbal as Masooma and it would have been great if she had been given more screen time.

Ehd-e-Wafa Last Episode Story Review - Fantastic Surprise

Last but not least special thanks to ISPR and MD Productions for giving us a drama which was extraordinary in so many ways – exceptional content and progressive female leads. Ehd-e-Wafa also for a change showed men and women as partners, that was truly delightful.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching and reviewing this play for the past 12 weeks or so in particular. I am glad, I did not give up on it. All of you who gave up on this drama after a few episodes should definitely give it a go now, it deserves to be watched and appreciated.

I would like to thank all those amazing readers who read the reviews every week and shared their opinions, without these discussions I wouldn’t have enjoyed watching Ehd-e-Wafa as much as I did. Keep reading and commenting, I look forward to your feedback.

Ehd-e-Wafa will be missed. I will definitely be watching some of the episodes again.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 9 Story Review – Interesting Developments

This was another interesting episode of Ehd-e-Wafa, the story is moving forward smoothly with all the boys being given equal screen time. All the tracks have finally taken off which makes Ehd-e-Wafa a drama which offers a little bit of everything; suspense, romance and comedy. In this episode, the background score was used effectively and some of the developments were completely unexpected. Shariq’s track is getting more serious with every passing episode and Shehryar continues to be one of the most likable characters in the play. Dua and Saad’s romantic scenes in this episode were cute and comic. Gulzar and Saad’s friendship is heart-warming . Shahzain is back to being his normal self! Shehryar helped him see things from a different perspective and he was back to being his old self which made me wonder why the negative side of his personality was shown in so many episodes. It was unnecessary to give so much screen time to his ‘evil’ side if things were eventually going to go in this direction. Looking forward to the boys being a ‘gang’.

Important Developments

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa opened with Shehryar making a trip to Shahzain’s haveli so that he could talk to him face-to-face. Ahmed Ali Akbar is extremely likable as Shehryar. Although the character itself is a pleasant one but Ahmed Ali Akbar’s performance definitely adds to the appeal. It took Shehryar only a few minutes to change Shahzain’s perspective, which was definitely a relief and something which made it quite clear that he was after all only angry! Shehryar said everything which the viewers had been thinking and talking about all these weeks. The change in Shahzain’s personality and the dark side of his character was just as difficult for Shehryar to accept as it was for the viewers! Looks like Shahzain’s track is going to take a completely different turn from here on. Osman Khalid Butt’s acting left a lot to be desired even tonight. Now that Shahzain is ‘over’ Dua, he will focus more on Raani which will give viewers few light hearted scenes in the upcoming episodes. Raani is already keen on meeting Shahzain since she likes him a lot. Zara Noor Abbas owns her character and her scenes are always enjoyable.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 9 Story Review - Interesting Developments

Shariq’s track tonight took a serious turn and some of the developments were surprising. I am sure I am not the only one who thought that Shariq was finally at the right place where he would get his big break but then the owner of the channel did something which showed that he too wanted to protect the criminal. This entire development was frustrating to watch and I couldn’t help but wonder what Jajji was going to do to Shariq after this. It was however good to see Shariq’s resilience and his determination. All of these traits went well with his age and the way Wahaj Ali translated this character on screen made it easier to connect to him.

Ramsha seems like a fun and easy going young lady who does not quite understand that her channel’s owner is backing the criminal she wants should be in prison. Ramsha and Shariq’s scenes were interesting, both of them have tons of potential and energy, I really hope that this track is handled well and we see both of them working together perhaps independently. Hajra Yamin is a phenomenal actress and her scenes were a treat to watch.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 9 Story Review - Interesting Developments

Gulzar and Saad’s scenes at the PMA were sweet and funny as usual. Ahad Raza Mir and Adnan Samad Khan’s on-screen chemistry makes this bromance more believable. Some of their dialogues were hilarious and the situations were fun to watch as well. I would have liked to see Saad telling Gulzar about the bhabhi but that scene ended too quickly. It was good to hear that Gulzar finally passed and got the holiday he desperately wanted. Both these actors have been performing really well. Ahad Raza Mir’s acting in some of the scenes was exceptional, especially his expressions were on point.

Final Remarks

It would have been good if the viewers were shown at least one scene covering Saad’s interaction with his father while he was home. The main focus of this visit seemed to be Dua and Saad’s friends, the family was almost missing from it which was rather off. The first telephonic conversation between Dua and Saad was well written and acted out, an enjoyable scene to start the episode with.

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa had a little bit of everything which made it an entertaining one, overall. These latest episodes have given me hope that this drama will get more interesting as the story moves forward.

The preview of the next episode was quite interesting. Shariq’s track is keeping me on the edge and Shahzain and Shehryar’s love story will start next week.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 8 Story Review – Engaging & Impactful

This had to be one of the best episodes of Ehd-e-Wafa. It was entertaining as well as fast paced and all the tracks were covered really well in this episode. The screenplay and direction was on point and with the exception of the actor playing Shariq’s friend’s role, all the actors performed brilliantly. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali’s performances continue to be superb, Adnan Samad Khan (Gulzar) has a definite screen presence and his track has so much to offer. The change in Saad’s behavior was a refreshing development and it revealed a great deal about his character. Some of the dialogues and scenes tonight were few of the best we have heard and seen so far.

Latest Developments

Tonight’s episode opened with Shehryar meeting Saad, this meeting was covered so well. For a second it seemed like Saad actually did get into a fight with Shehryar but thankfully that was not the case! The actual meeting showed that Saad was no longer angry and perhaps ‘insecure’. Saad was more than eager to get together with his old friends which was a good way to start this episode. After a long time the viewers got to see the friends we fell in love in the same frame enjoying a good time together. Now that Saad and Dua are friends and Saad knows that Dua likes him, he is no longer angry. He thought he had lost Dua because of his friends and found it impossible to forgive but now he has no reason to be angry. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s solid performance tonight made me like his character even more.

Saad assumed that his mother must have gone to Dua’s house with the proposal but that misunderstanding was cleared quickly. I liked how quickly all of this was covered. Saad and his mother’s scenes were sweet but his father was not even shown tonight, which was odd. By the end of this episode Saad found out the truth, waiting to see what he is going to do next.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 8 Story Review - Engaging & Impactful

The turn Shariq’s track took tonight was quite interesting. Shariq’s commitment and enthusiasm was the best part of this particular track. Shariq’s friend’s dialogues were written so well but the actor playing the role did not perform well. Thankfully Shariq survived and it seems like his track has a lot to offer.

Shehryar met Masooma in this episode and Hajra Yamin was also introduced tonight. After so many slow episodes, this one all of a sudden showed so much. Shehryar did not tell Saad what Shahzain was planning. Shahzain pretty much has a one track mind at the moment and he is clearly the most dull character right now. Raani passed the exams finally only after bribing the invigilators! Raani is quite eager to get married to Shahzain and hopefully at some point Shahzain too will stop pursuing Dua.

The Best Scene

Gulzar’s scene in this episode was the best. He was shown dreading the passing out parade and failed at it once again. The writer has shown that he lacks confidence and isn’t sure that he will make it. The conversation with his officer suggested just that. In few of his previous conversations with Saad too he kept on telling him how easy all of this must be for him because his father was an ex-army officer. The officer who called him in his office definitely proved to be a true mentor when he showed him his parents’ picture and narrated his success story. This conversation gave me goosebumps, it was so well written and acted out. Gulzar’s expressions were priceless and this surely will turn out to be a turning point for him. The flashback scene too was used intelligently in this scene. Adnan Samad Khan has played Gulzar’s role so well, he is definitely a natural performer.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 8 Story Review - Engaging & Impactful

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was a must watch and most of the scenes were impactful. It had a lot of important developments as well. I hope that the writer will be able to keep the momentum by making sure that all the boys get enough screen time in every episode since their tracks have enough to offer. Faraz should also have been part of this episode. Overall however, this episode had some delightful and emotional scenes.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 7 Story Review – The Journeys

Finally an episode which covered the journeys of all the Ehd-e-Wafa boys and promised a reunion which might not be all pleasant but it will be good to see at least 3 of them in the same frame again. The PMA scenes were covered in detail and the director Saife Hasan did exceptionally well in capturing the drilling of the cadets. A strict discipline being on top of the agenda. Shahzain’s meeting with Raani did not change anything and even dada gave in to the pressure. This episode definitely had a lot more to offer than the previous one – Dua and Saad’s meeting, Shehryar, the topper playing the band (somewhat sad) but it was good to see him being a responsible son and Shariq trying to get somewhere in life. The last scene and the preview of the next episode definitely gave me a reason to look forward to the next episode. Gulzar is an interesting addition to the drama and ironically Saad yet again has another friend because of whom he keeps on getting into trouble! One thing is for sure, Dua means more to Saad than any of his friends ever did and the OST in the background suggested that this was the bond he valued the most even though he never really talked to Dua up until now.

Raani and Shahzain

This was yet another episode of Ehd-e-Wafa which opened with Raani and Shahzain’s scenes. Shahzain’s reaction when he saw Raani suggested that he liked her but then he went on with telling her why they couldn’t get married. Raani putting on that lipstick was the most funny bit. Some of the dialogues were funny while others were not witty enough. This was probably the first time that Shahzain looked nervous, a rare sight for sure! I didn’t quite understand why all of a sudden Shahzain felt that way since otherwise he is always in control of the situation. Zara Noor Abbas definitely took the lead in these scenes. The scene covering Raani and her friend was slightly long and not too amusing. I was hoping that Shahzain would fall for Raani and decide to marry her but so far this is a case of one-sided ‘love’.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 7 Story Review - The Journeys

Saad and Gulzar

Saad and Gulzar’s scenes covered few weeks of the boys in the PMA and their first real ‘test’. While Saad passed with flying colors, Gulzar failed badly but the good thing was that his sense of humor and vibrant personality was not affected by this failure. Saad was shown as a disciplined and dedicated cadet in this episode as well. The way their training was covered showed exactly what the boys go through in the academy. There were strict rules and anyone who did not abide by them got the most severe punishment. Saad seemed extremely focused throughout and there were times when he was a little too serious. It was therefore good to see a different side of him when he was with Dua. Ahad Raza Mir looked a lot like the young Asif Raza Mir in his new look. The actor playing Gulzar’s role owns his character completely, he is a natural. I loved the dialogues of the ‘staff’ and he gave a solid performance.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 7 Story Review - The Journeys

Saad and Dua

It won’t be wrong to say that Saad is a completely different person when he is around Dua. Saad comes across as an introvert sometimes who only opens up when he wants to. Dua and Saad’s interactions were cute since Dua finally warmed up to him. I am wondering if they will be exchanging numbers anytime soon since these chance meetings scenario is getting repetitive. This meeting ended with Dua telling him about the proposal, waiting to see how Saad will respond once he finds out that Shahzain sent that proposal. Ahad Raza Mir has done a good job of transitioning from a more focused serious Saad to a playful and candid one.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 7 Story Review - The Journeys

Shariq and Shehryar

Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali performed brilliantly tonight. Their superb performances are one of the main reasons why I would like to see them on screen more often. Ahmed Ali Akbar’s expressions when he was sitting in that van were priceless and so meaningful! I felt for Shehryar, he deserves a better and brighter future. Shariq on the other hand was shown trying hard to get somewhere and it seems like he eventually found a way but the preview of the next episode suggested that he might have to play a big price for taking this road. Both these boys are intelligent, driven and dedicated. They have clearly come a long way in terms of taking responsibilities therefore I am hoping that the viewers will eventually see them making it big.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 7 Story Review - The Journeys

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa covered a great deal and I am hoping that the writer will keep all the boys in the picture in the future too. I must say however that I couldn’t help but wonder how amazing it would have been if Shariq and Shehryar too were in the PMA with Saad. Will Shehryar knock some sense in to Shahzain? Waiting to find out!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 6 Story Review – Below Expectations

After watching yet another episode of Ehd-e-Wafa which failed to hold my interest, I actually sat down and tried to figure out exactly why a drama I had so many hopes and expectations from did not turn out to be as interesting as I was hoping it would be. This episode wasn’t all bad, it had some cute moments and some funny scenes but lately I have been having a really difficult time connecting to the characters on a deeper level. So far, the reason for this is that Ehd-e-Wafa was promoted as a story of friendship “dil ka dil se hua hei Ehd-e-Wafa” yet the friendship between these boys ended so bitterly. Also, just like many other viewers out there I was expecting all the four boys to be the focus of attention yet clearly Saad and Shahzain are taking the lead. The connection which was established with these four boys was based on their friendship and love for each other yet that is one part of their lives which is clearly over for now. Also, I was expecting this drama to be more like Alpha Bravo Charlie in which the entire focus was on the training and the journeys of the boys as part of the armed forces but it seems like the writer is going to show their journeys in different fields of life. All of these changes would have been great if the story was not all over the place and if the relationship of all these boys with their families was explored a little more.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 6 Story Review - Below Expectations

Ehd-e-Wafa has the same issue which Aangan had – the screen time has not been divided properly and the story definitely does not have the flow which keeps you looking forward to more. Shahzain’s track is putting me to sleep – it is neither entertaining nor meaningful. Saad’s track is interesting but it leaves a lot to be desired. This track gives you a few emotional moments and is the only reason why I tune into this show now. Zara Noor Abbas as Raani is cute but her scenes too are getting repetitive.

Latest Developments

Shahzain did not change his mind after all and was seen convincing his mother to go to Dua’s house with his proposal. Shahzain’s way of getting back at Saad shows his narrow-mindedness but thankfully he will soon change his mind after he falls for the vibrant and witty Raani. There were some words from Shahzain’s dialogues which were censored in this episode and there were quite a few conversations which focused entirely on Shahzain’s plans to marry Dua. Raani on the other hand likes Shahzain and will most probably win him over soon. Shahzain is definitely not a likable character and so far his track has been more confusing than anything else.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 6 Story Review - Below Expectations

Saad told his mother about Dua and although their conversations for the most part were written well but Vaneeza Ahmad’s performance was strictly okay. Her dialogue delivery was quite plain whereas Ahad Raza Mir acted really well in these scenes. It was however good to see a few scenes covering their bond. Dua too came to the park hoping she would get to meet Saad which means that she likes him now. It would have been nice to see Dua and Saad meeting a few times before Saad left for the Academy. Saad joined the military academy and contrary to expectations he was actually ready for all the drilling. Saad’s scene with his father was sweet, he finally got the hug and the ‘approval’ he was looking for. When Saad was with his friends, he went along with everything they did and enjoyed it too. His scenes in this episode however showed that he took life more seriously now. That incident at the college changed Saad more than anyone else since he is clearly afraid of upsetting his father more than ever now…which makes me wonder if Saad was always a ‘good boy’ with a bad company! Perhaps that is why it was easier for him to cut all ties with his friends.

Some of the scenes at the academy were funny and others made me feel for the boys. Some of these scenes also had been-there-seen-that written all over them. My favorite scene from this episode came at the end since I was wondering why these boys were being forced to speak in English. I liked the officer’s dialogue about how life will change for these boys after a few years. Saad’s new friend has an interesting background, his acting is organic and it seems like he might form a special bond with Saad in the upcoming episodes. This track definitely needs more emotional moments to make it more relatable.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 6 Story Review - Below Expectations

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa just like the previous one had its high and low moments. The visuals and the locations were stunning as usual but the story so far is not taking off. Overall, this episode of Ehd-e-Wafa failed to impress. I am highly disappointed by the fact that two of the boys are the chosen ones especially because Shehryar and Shariq had such interesting personalities. Their backgrounds too made me inquisitive, I definitely was looking forward to seeing more of them. Shehryar will make an appearance in the upcoming episode and Shariq it seems will be shown only after he gets somewhere in life.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 5 Story Review – Highs and Lows

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was much better than last week’s episode but Shahzain got excessive screen time while Shariq was missing even in this episode. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali performed exceptionally well in all the episodes therefore there is no reason why they shouldn’t be given equal screen time. Also, Shariq and Shehryar’s situations were definitely more touching than that of Shahzain and even Saad. Saad’s scenes were not stretched since each one of these scenes showed tangible progress in the track whereas Shahzain’s scenes were a little too detailed. Saad and Dua’s meeting in this episode was actually quite cute. Raani’s scenes were entertaining and it was good to see Shahzain’s dada giving him a sensible advice in the end. Tonight’s episode was directed beautifully and the visuals were appealing as usual. The friendship between the boys it seems is over for good and their bromance is a thing of the past.

Latest Developments

After showing the angry and irrational side of Shahzain, the writer focused more on presenting the caring, sensitive and sensible aspect of his personality especially in the first few scenes of this episode. Shahzain is being groomed by his dada to take his place one day and he has taken up the role with the same confidence with which he lead SSG. He also has a big ego and he is used to having his way. Some of the conversations between the chaudhries however could easily have been chopped down. Raani continued to fool her parents and she focused on everything else except her studies. Zara Noor Abbas has simply nailed this character and some of Raani’s dialogues were hilarious. The energy with which she translates this character on screen makes it even more interesting. I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of her.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 5 Story Review - Highs and Lows

It wasn’t difficult for Saad to explain to his father why he decided not to get his forms submitted. His father’s nod of approval and his strict attitude with Saad was also explained in this episode through the conversation he had with Saad’s mother. It was good to see Saad remembering the times he had spent with his friends but the flashback scenes were not needed since these events took place only recently. The way Saad told Shahzain and Shehryar off yet again showed that he was not going to let this thing go easily. Also, Saad is really different from these two boys since he is constantly shown feeling bad for what he did. Ahad Raza Mir’s acting has been brilliant throughout. He has translated the shyness and docile side of Saad’s character so well on screen. Ahad Raza Mir has also excelled in giving the right expressions when he is angry or disgusted. There are different sides to his personality which makes this character well-balanced and interesting.

After being told off by Saad, Shahzain got another reality check from Shehryar’s father. This was one of my favorite scenes since the way Shehryar’s father made sure that Shahzain was out of the picture for good was quite relatable and in line with the father’s personality. The writer through all these scenes showed the reasons why all these boys could no longer be friends. The careless days of college are gone for sure and it is time for these boys to grow up. The elders have played a major role in ensuring that no one stands in the way of their children. Shahzain is considered a bad influence by all the parents therefore he was the one who faced the worst rejection.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 5 Story Review - Highs and Lows

Dua and Saad finally had a ‘normal’ conversation tonight. This entire scene was wonderfully shot and acted out. Dua also apologized for something (for a change), I do feel that every time we see a different side of Dua’s personality. Alizeh Shah acted well in this episode and both these actors looked good together.

My favorite dialogues tonight were the ones from the last scene. For a change Shahzain’s dada said something which made a lot of sense. Hopefully, Shahzain will understand what he means and he will change his mind – not that Dua’s family will get her married to someone like him!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 5 Story Review - Highs and Lows

Final Remarks

Saad’s mother’s nominal role has been a major disappointment especially because Saad is one of the characters getting the most screen time in all the episodes. Except for the scene in which Shahzain cries when he is driving back to his village, Shahzain’s scenes did not hold my interest at all. Osman Khalid Butt’s performance once again was shaky throughout, he did well in some scenes but mostly his acting was quite wooden. Still wondering if we will ever get to see Shariq again! Tonight’s episode had high and low points – scenes that had an impact and also those which could easily be forwarded. Raani provided the much-needed comic relief.

The preview of the upcoming episode showed that Saad will join the army in the next episode – definitely looking forward to that.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 4 Story Review – Too Serious and Upsetting

Tonight’s episode for the most part was a little too serious and slightly upsetting as well. This episode also lacked the impact and flow which was much needed at this time. While SSG’s break up was expected, the turn Shahzain and Saad’s track took was more upsetting than anticipated. Later on, the scenes covering the boys’ life once they left the college were somewhat rushed. Some of the scenes were emotional with Wahaj Ali and Ahad Raza Mir taking the lead in this particular aspect. The scene showing Shahzain shooting the horse was seriously disturbing, I am wondering why would the makers even expect viewers to laugh at his jokes in the upcoming episodes after this! While rest of the boys acted convincingly throughout Osman Khalid Butt’s performance was extremely disappointing in this episode and the turn his character took was even worse. Dua’s character so far has absolutely nothing to offer and the actors playing the cousins’ role are too stiff and their dialogue delivery leaves a lot to be desired. Although Shahzain’s grandfather is funny but he got too much screen time in this episode while Saad’s mother hardly got any! There wasn’t a single meaningful scene covering Saad’s relationship with his mother or sister, definitely an opportunity lost.Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 4 Story Review - Too Serious and Upsetting

Recent Developments

Tonight’s episode opened with the boys being expelled from the hostel. The understanding approach of the principal was beyond me and I found it highly unrealistic, especially the way he tolerated Shahzain’s grandfather. Dua decided to leave after telling Raheel off, Raheel’s bad acting was the worst part of this scene. While it was good to see Dua showing her anger in this scene, later on her attitude when she saw Saad in the university went to show that Dua’s character probably wouldn’t have much to offer. So far, there are no strong female leads in this drama.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 4 Story Review - Too Serious and Upsetting

The scenes covering the boys’ exit from the hostel were emotional and quite unexpected in some ways. I must say that Shahzain deserved that slap since he was the one who planned everything and it was his overconfidence which got everyone in trouble. Wahaj Ali was amazing in all the scenes, definitely the character I feel for the most. Saad’s farewell meeting with Khurshid was also touching but it was unpleasant watching Saad stay upset for so long. Shahzain was the only one who did not sit for the exams because his grandfather was convinced that he did not need to study. His antics later on showed that his grandfather had managed to make him the chaudhry he wanted to see him become.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 4 Story Review - Too Serious and Upsetting
The introduction to Saad’s mother’s character was one of the worst aspects of this episode. It was almost as if Vaneeza Ahmad did not have enough time to shoot too many scenes. After all this was the mother of one of the leading characters, why was she introduced in such a casual way after three episodes? Saad’s relationship with his father was also well established in this episode and unlike before there wasn’t any warmth there, it was like a boss interacting with his subordinate. Ahad Raza Mir however was convincing as the docile and obedient son. Faraz Yahya also translated his character impressively on screen even though the character itself seems quite clichéd.

The seating order when the boys were in the examination hall did not make sense at all since all of us who have given board exams know that your friends are nowhere near you during these exams. Saad decided to give up medical studies so that Dua could get an admission. Seems like that is how he will eventually end up in the army.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa covered a great deal from SSG’s sad end to new beginnings for all the boys. Unfortunately, not all these developments had an impact. While Shahzain and Saad got so much screen time, Shariq’s character didn’t get any in the last few minutes. The preview of the next episode suggested that Shahzain’s character might take a negative turn but I am hoping that this is going to be his way of redeeming himself since the story after all is about friendship! Except for a few scenes covering the boys’ exit from the hostel, tonight’s episode did not work for me. I am hoping that the writer will be able to do justice to all these tracks in the upcoming episodes.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 3 Story Review – Caught Red-Handed

Tonight’s episode had the most unexpected developments since I was not expecting the story to take a serious turn so soon. I was also looking forward to meeting the boys’ families and I must say that they were introduced in the best way possible. Tonight’s episode was emotional but at the same time the writer kept the comic element of the play alive. With this episode it seems all the boys are going to move to the next phase of their lives. These 3 episodes which covered the fun filled reckless adventures of the SSG boys were a fun ride. The personalities and the circumstances of all the leading characters have been well established in these 3 weeks. Tonight’s episode in particular showed how people from completely different backgrounds can sometimes come together as friends and make bittersweet memories. This was another episode which might have reminded many viewers out there of their college friends and the times when they got into trouble. The director Saife Hasan deserves due credit for translating every single scene flawlessly on screen. Acting wise, this was the best episode of Ehd-e-Wafa since everyone performed really well.

Caught Red-Handed

In the past two weeks the viewers saw the boys planning one escape after the other without considering the fact that their adventures could have serious consequences. This time around too Shahzain was the one who took the lead. The scenes covering the boys’ antics when they teased Saad and Shahzain’s confidence when he went to talk to Dua were brilliantly acted out. Through these scenes, the writer in an intelligent manner showed different sides of their personalities once again. Shahzain continued to be the reckless yet extremely confident leader. Sheharyar and Shariq both have more or less the same personalities and as it turns out their backgrounds are similar too. Saad is the only one who has continuously been shown as the reluctant partner. He goes along with whatever the boys want to do because he knows he doesn’t have a choice but he has always been the one who worried the most about the consequences. Therefore, it was ironic that he got caught tonight but eventually everyone except Shahzain got into serious trouble. Saad’s love story too reflected the shyness in his personality which was translated on screen impeccably by Ahad Raza Mir. Wahaj Ali and Ahmed Ali Akbar’s solid performances have been the highlight of every episode. All these actors also have amazing on-screen chemistry which makes their bromance come alive on screen.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 3 Story Review - Caught Red-Handed

The Girls

Zara Noor Abbas nailed her scenes yet again in this episode. She has given her character the right treatment because of which Raani is fun to watch and she isn’t annoying. Even though some of the dialogues were not that funny but Zara’s acting made all the scenes covering Noori’s nalaiki a treat to watch. The viewers also found out in this episode that Raani and Shahzain indeed are connected in some way, the families know each other and sooner or later these two will meet. I am really looking forward to this meeting for obvious reasons!

Dua’s cousin definitely likes her but she seems to have a soft corner for Saad. When her cousin mentioned Saad, she complimented his looks and she did not like the way the chance meeting ended. While Noori is fun, Dua’s character so far is quite plain. I was hoping she would say something to the boys tonight but she sat there and listened to everything. Dua and Saad’s first actual meeting had the worst ending. Now with the families involved I am wondering how and when they will meet again. With Saad’s lack of confidence, this love story isn’t going anywhere any time soon!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 3 Story Review - Caught Red-Handed

Meet The Parents

Saad’s family was already partially introduced in the first episode and in this episode the background and basic family dynamics of all the boys were covered. Sheharyar and Shariq don’t come from affluent backgrounds therefore Sheharyar’s father and Shariq’s bhabhi had the most emotional reactions to the news. Saad himself is quite conscious about his impression therefore even though his father told him off in a rather subtle manner but this was enough to make him feel responsible and the way he cried showed how ashamed he was. Malik Allah Yaar’s (Muhammad Ahmed) reaction was completely different from that of all the other parents. His attitude showed why Shahzain was so careless – he had nothing to lose and he was brought up in a completely different household. Even though Shahzain’s father celebrated the occasion but he himself wasn’t too happy about it because he knew his friends were in trouble. All the reactions and the outcomes were covered flawlessly. The acting and the execution of these scenes couldn’t have been better. Saad and Shariq’s scenes were my favorite since they were extremely emotional.

Final Remarks

I have warmed up to the characters in this drama so much that I am actually worried about these boys after watching this latest episode! I felt for Saad, Shariq and Sheharyar while watching the last few scenes. This, in my opinion is the real success of any drama. The preview of the next episode suggested that the boys will be expelled from college and Shahzain and Saad will have a confrontation. I hope they continue to be friends even if they no longer stay in the college. I am really looking forward to finding out what turn the story will take from here.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 24 Story Review – Change of Heart

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa had quite a few emotional scenes. This episode focused on Shahzain more than any other character. Shahzain has finally decided to change his ways. I was looking forward to Shehryar and Masooma’s story moving forward with this episode but seems like we will have to wait another week for that. Shehryar’s character continues to be the most balanced and likable character in the show. Ahmed Ali Akbar never fails to impress. Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh Shah were superb tonight. Ahad Raza Mir deserves all the credit for a performance which has been beyond brilliant. Some of the dialogues tonight were really well written and the director Saife Hassan made sure that every single emotion was captured on screen which made some of the scenes more impactful.

Shahzain’s Track

Shahzain’s track in this episode was penned down convincingly but Osman Khalid Butt’s performance was yet again not up to the mark. His sad expressions did not work for me at all. In the hospital scenes too there were too many expressions on his face. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali on the other hand, performed brilliantly. It was quite apparent last week that Shahzain had planned this attack therefore this development was not surprising. But it was good to see Shahzain finally realizing he was going to lose his friends and relatives if he continued being so selfish. He has apologized so many times that Shehryar’s reaction to this apology made perfect sense! Rani was the one who deserved an apology more than anyone else yet she was not shown in this episode after the opening scene. The hug in the end was emotional even though we have seen so many such hugs before too in Ehd-e-Wafa.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 24 Story Review - Change of Heart

I am glad that the writer showed that Shahzain’s dada advised him to stay in politics and work for the betterment of the people. Had he left politics, it would have sent the wrong message. Now, he can actually be shown as a politician who is trying to make a difference.

Shariq’s Track

Shariq’s success was covered in one scene and through this scene the viewers were also informed that Shariq and Ramsha were getting married. This scene also showed there were good people in the media industry as well since Shariq’s boss did not only applaud his honesty but also gave his staff monetary incentive. I did feel however that the boss came across as a little too generous! It is great watching Ramsha and Shariq succeeding as a team. They make a cute and unconventional on-screen couple.

Best Scene

Dua and Saad’s scene was the highlight of this episode. Saad’s surprise was so good that for a while it seemed like Dua was perhaps imagining that he was there. Ahad Raza Mir and Alizeh Shah’s performances were on point. The best thing about this scene was that although it was short but it covered the sentiments of both these characters in the most apt manner. Dua was not the only one who was scared but leaving Dua and going for this mission was also difficult for Saad. I am glad that Saad hasn’t been shown as the rough and tough military man and there is a sensitive side to him as well. It basically showed that even with all the commitment and dedication, it is difficult for an army man to leave his family behind and go on a mission from which he might never come back. This scene was also directed flawlessly, the use of the background music made it even more emotional. Since Saad came to see Dua and left her with all those letters, it is more likely than ever that he might not return. I would however love to see Saad come back from this mission after achieving great success. Ahad Raza Mir definitely deserves an award this year for breathing tangible life into every single scene whether it is in Ehd-e-Wafa or Yeh Dil Mera, he has been exceptional throughout.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 24 Story Review - Change of Heart

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode had a few surprises and even though Osman Khalid Butt’s acting left a lot to be desired, it is good to know that Shahzain is finally on the right track. Shahzain’s conversation with his dada was written well and so were Shehryar’s dialogues when he confronted Shahzain. The most emotional scene of this episode was Saad and Dua’s meeting. Looking forward to the second last episode of Ehd-e-Wafa and hoping that Saad will come back alive. I am not too happy about the fact that the last episode will be shown in cinemas a day before it airs on television. Although, that is an intelligent move by the producers since fans are more likely to watch it in the cinemas this way but the ending will be spoiled for those of us watching it on television.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 23 Story Review – Love & Friendship

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa focused more on Shahzain but just like all the recent episodes, all the tracks were taken forward. The preview of this episode had suggested that there would be a serious threat to Shahzain’s life but it appears to be that this is yet another tactic by him to win the elections. He continues to be the least likeable character and it would have been so much better if just like all the other boys, he too was trying to make a difference. This recent episode was just engaging as the previous few. Shehryar and Shariq’s scene was the most emotional tonight. This episode of Ehd-e-Wafa yet again highlighted how precious true friendships are.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 23 Story Review - Love & Friendship

The Friends

Shariq and Shehryar’s conversation in the beginning showed that Shehryar didn’t completely trust Shahzain. His observations about Shahzain’s constant attempts to take control made perfect sense. Shariq however has always been the one who has given Shahzain the benefit of the doubt. Shehryar continues to be the most level-headed character in the play but his emotional side takes over every now and then. While handling Shahzain’s case, he was completely blinded by his association with him and did not look at things objectively. His final decision was based on whatever he heard everyone saying as opposed to gathering concrete evidence and deriving conclusions from there. Saad called to ask about Shahzain even though he too had a lot to deal with at that time. Basically all the scenes covering their friendship went to show how special their bond was. It was sad to see that Shahzain was taking advantage of the situation. While talking to Waqar and his father, he made it quite clear that Shehryar had his back. Although he knew only too well that Shehryar would never do him such favors. At the same time, he used Shariq to give him the media attention he needed. All the conversations clearly showed that Shahzain had failed as a politician but was bent on contesting another election.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 23 Story Review - Love & Friendship

Shariq and Shehryar’s scene was the best tonight. Through this scene, the viewers found out how their friendship started and how far they had come. Shehryar for the first time talked about Masooma and the viewers found out how guilty he felt. Although, it was apparent that he felt guilty the day after he told Masooma off but this track was not given enough screen time until now. Ahmed Ali Akbar yet again performed exceptionally well and Wahaj Ali was equally convincing in all the scenes.

The Love Stories

Saad and Dua’s love story has taken a new turn after marriage. Dua has to be the brave and patient wife who will have to endure a lot since she married an army officer. Dua is also expecting her first baby, a development which confused me about the timeline. I find myself rooting for this couple and would like to see Saad and Dua together till the end. Raani’s love for Shahzain has only grown and even though he has his flaws but clearly Raani accepts and loves him for who he is. Raani has always been shown as a strong and confident woman and now she is using her strength to protect her husband. Shahzain it seems is not only fooling his friends but he is lying to Raani too and in a way using her!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 23 Story Review - Love & Friendship

Shariq and Ramsha are going to get married soon! This definitely came as a surprise since they always came across as good friends and there hasn’t been a single romantic moment which covered this love story. Shehryar finally told Shariq about Masooma and the preview of the next episode showed that Shariq is going to help them get together…definitely waiting for that to happen.

Final Remarks

With Shahzain’s latest plan, the story yet again has taken a turn which could lead to SSG’s break up one more time! If Shahzain really is lying and he planned all this to get the voters’ sympathy and to make sure that Waqar and his father supported him then he truly does not deserve good friends or a wife like Raani! The scenes covering Saad and Dua’s track in the preview were well put together since it was difficult to figure out what is going to happen next. There have been so many dialogues which suggested that Saad will get martyred but I really hope that does not happen. Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa laid the foundations for what is coming ahead, I am waiting to see where Shahzain’s track is headed.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 22 Story Review – The Reunion

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was fast-paced and thoroughly entertaining. The writer Mustafa Afridi has been making sure that every episode has enough emotional and meaningful scenes to keep the viewers connected to the characters. For the past few weeks every episode of Ehd-e-Wafa has been impactful and it continues to deliver. This recent episode covered a great deal. In fact all these developments could have been covered in more than one episode but it is good to watch a play which actually is taking off towards the end as opposed to slowing down because that is what generally happens. Usually by 22 weeks, the viewers are waiting for a drama to wrap up but Ehd-e-Wafa still has a great deal to offer. Tonight’s episode was directed brilliantly too. The wedding was covered quickly but convincingly and it was good to see that the focus was on the journeys of the main characters. I am still waiting for Shehryar to get in touch with Masooma, hopefully soon. The best part of this episode was Dua’s surprise and SSG’s reunion.

SSG Reunited

It was great watching all the boys together again. Their scenes together reminded me of the scenes we watched in the first few weeks. Even though they have come a long way in terms of their careers but when these 4 are together, they are still fun and adventurous. These scenes were so well written and beautifully executed. All those viewers who have crazy friends like these 4, must have been able to relate to these scenes. These grown up men who are actually quite serious and practical otherwise, turned into teenagers when they were with each other – that is the beauty of friendship. For a change Shahzain too was quite likeable in this episode and Osman Khalid Butt’s energy went well with the turn his character has taken. Saad too didn’t take the jokes seriously for a change and after a long time, these friends were back together like they were in college days.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 22 Story Review - The Reunion

The scene covering Firdous sahab’s meeting with the SSG boys after all these years was heart-warming. The respect these boys have given to their teacher and whatever they did to help him has been another inspiring element of the drama. Although, their relationship with Firdous sahab wasn’t ideal but it was that punishment they got in college which turned their lives around in a way. All of them needed such a shock so that they could get back on track. In a way Firdous sahab shaped up their lives with his discipline and strictness.

The Power of Media

Through Shariq’s scenes, the writer showed the power of media. All those people who were criticizing Ehd-e-Wafa for showing the corrupt element of all the institutions and organizations, must watch this episode since it clearly showed that there were people in the media like Shariq and his boss who were doing their job right. It was Shariq’s video that ultimately made all the difference and that is how Firdous sahab got his land back. Later on, Shehryar was ‘punished’ for his role in all this but that did not seem to make much of a difference to him.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 22 Story Review - The Reunion

The Wedding

Saad and Dua’s wedding was the most sweet and fun part of tonight’s episode. Right from the moment the SSG got together to the scene when Dua enters the marriage hall, the entire wedding was covered brilliantly. Dua gave Saad a big surprise on their wedding day and I absolutely loved Alizeh Shah and Ahad Raza Mir’s expressions in these scenes.

All of Saad and Dua’s scenes tonight were short but really cute. I loved the dialogues and the performances as well. The romance between Saad and Dua has always been sweet and not too cheesy. The credit khane ki machine dialogue was the best! Ahad Raza Mir is a brilliant actor who translates every single emotion superbly on screen.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 22 Story Review - The Reunion

Shehryar and Shahzain

Shehryar was transferred to Shahzain’s constituency and the welcome scene was one of my favorites tonight. Shehryar’s conversation with Laal Hussain resonated because his father too was in the same profession. Shehryar values people and their occupations in general but this profession is specifically close to his heart because of obvious reasons.

Shahzain’s political and family feuds got a lot of screen time tonight. The writer through these scenes, laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. Will Shahzain die? The story will once again take a more serious turn in the next episode when Shahzain gets injured and Saad goes away for his next mission. All of these boys are fighting some really serious battles and anyone of them can have a tragic ending. It would however be good if all of them stay alive till the end and then perhaps we can watch a sequel in the next few years!

Final Remarks

This was another episode of Ehd-e-Wafa with remarkable performances to its credit. There were so many small gestures shown in this episode which suggested how these characters were supporting each other. Whether it was Ramsha and Shariq, Dua and Saad, Dua and Saad’s parents or Shehryar and Firdous sahab – all these characters in some way or the other are proving to be a viable support system for each other. It was also good to see Gulzar there on the stage with Saad on his wedding. Overall, tonight’s episode was engaging and heart-warming.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 21 Story Review – The Best

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was extremely emotional and simply beautiful in every way. This was the kind of episode which makes your cry and laugh at the same time. The director Saife Hassan did complete justice to all the beautiful, moving scenes. The actors too did a commendable job of translating these priceless emotions on screen. Ehd-e-Wafa gets more emotional and impactful with every passing episode. Last week after the episode went on air there were so many twitter users who criticized the writer for suggesting that politicians can influence the people who selected higher ranking officers after candidates pass the CSS exams. It seriously infuriates me how ill-informed such tweets are since it was made quite clear in the previous two episodes that Shahzain was lying and he had nothing to do with Shehryar’s selection. People of course are free to discuss the bureaucracy and politics whichever way they want but why do it with #Ehd-e-Wafa when the writer is not implying anything like that! I feel that there are so many people nowadays who rely on social media when it comes to figuring out what a drama stands for or is conveying. My request to all such people is to at least watch the entire drama before drawing conclusions!

Most Emotional Opening Scenes

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa had the most emotional opening scenes which were yet again filled with positive and impactful messages. Saad’s parents conversation about his wedding was truly refreshing. After watching so many dramas which revolve around yeh shadi nahi ho sakti scenarios, Ehd-e-Wafa is truly a treat to watch in which the consent of the parents is the least of the children’s worries! It is truly amazing how the parents and children in this drama have been shown as partners. This partnership is the reason why Dua and Saad were able to focus on their education and their careers. They knew that their parents will support them whenever they decided to get married.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 21 Story Review - The Best

Saad’s mother’s constant support and her wise approach towards everything had been shown through a few scenes in the past few weeks and tonight we also saw his father being really cool about the whole thing! This was such a good way of showing that there was nothing wrong with children wanting to get married out of their own choice. Dua’s mother’s attitude was the same too. The open-minded and wise approach of the parents is definitely something we need to see in dramas more often. I absolutely loved how this entire track has been covered throughout. While the writer has quite a few inspiring scenarios for the young people in this drama, at the same time there are a few tips for the parents too! Saad and his father’s scenes were acted out so well by both these actors. It is almost as if they are actually related, their performances and the chemistry these two share has been simply remarkable.

Shehryar and Firdous sahab’s scene was extremely emotional as well. The way Shehryar took Firdous sahab to his office and made him sit on his seat was such a nice gesture to show just how much he valued and respected him. The writer intelligently added Firdous sahab in this present scenario since the viewers already had emotional attachment with him and his son. Later on, everything was covered realistically because surely it wasn’t going to be easy for Shehryar to deal with a land mafia which was well connected. In this way the writer Mustafa Afridi yet again highlighted another corrupt element of the system. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Khalifa Shajeer Uddin’s performances in these scenes were absolutely brilliant. Ahmed Ali Akbar is such a phenomenal actor, I  am eagerly waiting to see more of him.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 21 Story Review - The Best

Saad and Dua

The way Saad and Dua’s track was taken forward was yet another impactful and emotional element of this episode. Saad and Dua clearly are partners as well. Alizeh Shah and Ahad Raza Mir looked great together in this episode and their love story is my favorite at the moment. It is the perfect example of a healthy relationship and how partners should support each other. At the same time, they have fun with one another and there is enough romance to make it cute and entertaining. Their scenes are not too plain or too cheesy. Dua’s dialogues about how Saad’s family made her feel were so easy to connect to because the viewers got to see just how welcoming they all were. Saad’s father opened the car door for Dua which was such a wonderful way of welcoming her. Saad’s parents acceptance of Dua and Saad’s support for her was the best part of this track tonight. Dua’s comment about the ring size and the other candid conversations were truly delightful to watch. Few weeks back I couldn’t even have imagined that I would find their scenes together so sweet and heart-warming.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 21 Story Review - The Best

Saad and Shahzain

Saad and Shahzain’s scene tonight showed just how far Saad had come. All this time we had all been waiting for Saad to be the leader, the bigger person with Shahzain which he had been with his peers in the PMA. Tonight, he did just that. Even Shahzain seemed like a vulnerable individual who was in need of love and attention. Their conversation was written really well and I am honestly relieved that these two are finally back to being friends after so many years.

Final Remarks

The timeline in this drama can be confusing at times but other than that Ehd-e-Wafa has taken off for sure. Tonight’s episode was a complete package, it was emotional, entertaining and well paced. It was written and directed exceptionally well. Ahad Raza Mir and Ahmed Ali Akbar are remarkably brilliant actors who never cease to impress. They are both so good at translating varying emotions impeccably on screen. Aadi Khan was cute as the over-smart Malik Shahzaib. I hope that Firdous sahab’s track will be handled well in the upcoming episode. The preview of the next episode showed that all these friends will finally get together on Saad’s wedding and it seems like Dua’s inclusion in the armed forces will perhaps be a surprise for Saad. Really looking forward to the next episode of Ehd-e-Wafa already.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 20 Story Review – Emotional and Engaging

This latest episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was yet again entertaining as well as emotional. It was well written, beautifully directed and most of the performances were truly impressive. All the actors are playing their roles exceptionally well and for now Osman Khalid Butt’s wooden acting suits the role he is playing. All the boys, with the exception of Shahzain, are on the right track and watching them go ahead with such confidence has been heart-warming.

Saad’s Track

Tonight’s episode opened with Saad and Dua’s conversation which was both romantic and meaningful. Ahad Raza Mir has been performing remarkably well throughout but now Alizeh Shah too is quite likable in this role. Dua’s character in the beginning didn’t have a lot to offer and it kept the viewers confused as well. The fact that both these characters have much more going for them than the relationship they have is definitely the best part. It is great watching a drama which shows that young people can be in love and focused on their studies and careers at the same time too. I however was waiting to see a conversation between Dua and Saad before he left for Waziristan. There were a few scenes which suggested that Saad might not survive the mission but I do feel that it is too early to show something like that. Honestly speaking, I would love to see Saad as a ghazi in the end. After all ghazis are also heroes.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 20 Story Review - Emotional and Engaging

This episode of Ehd-e-Wafa didn’t just have one but two really touching scenes covering Saad’s relationship with his father. The on-screen chemistry both these actors share is remarkable and their scenes always leave an impact in some way or the other. In the first scene Saad’s father showed him who was the boss even though Saad was quite confident. And in the second scene, he made sure his son knew that he was lucky to be given such a good opportunity at such an early stage in his career. Saad’s mother’s reaction and their scenes together were even more emotional. Ahad Raza Mir’s expressions in all these scenes were beyond impressive. Their dialogues were also written really well.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 20 Story Review - Emotional and Engaging

Shehryar’s Success

Shehryar and his father’s scene was directed and acted-out beautifully. It was the most sweet and emotional scene in this entire episode. Right from the beginning Shehryar’s track has been extremely emotional. He has not only been the most level-headed and likable character in the play but his circumstances have been such that the viewers have been rooting for him for a long time. Therefore watching him get this far and then watching him present his success as a surprise to his parents was an absolute treat to watch. The way his father saluted him was the best part of this scene. Later on, when Shahzain told Shehryar that without him, he couldn’t have made it to where he was today, it was really good to see Shehryar not falling for this lie. On the other hand, Shahzain succeeded in fooling Shariq completely. Shahzain still feels the need to dominate his friends. He knows he cannot do that, the way he used to because all of them have made it quite clear to him that they won’t be taking dictation from him therefore now he is doing so by making them feel like he has been doing them favors which were crucial to their careers. It was really nice watching Shehryar take a stand for Saad, he is a wise young man!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 20 Story Review - Emotional and Engaging

Shariq’s scenes clearly showed that he had managed to make a big name for himself. Even though he is an intelligent man who has carved his own path yet he let someone like Shahzain fool him, that particular aspect did not work for me. Other than that watching the channel owner giving him all the liberty and so much respect was something easy to connect to since there are a lot of such media persons who have made a big name for themselves and even if they switch channels, they retain their viewership.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 20 Story Review - Emotional and Engaging

Final Remarks

If you stopped watching Ehd-e-Wafa because it did not come up to your expectations then it is time to catch up because Ehd-e-Wafa surely is delivering what it promised. The script is turning out to be a meaningful one and this drama definitely offers the kind of entertainment we don’t get to see on our screens very often. Apart from Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar has given a phenomenal performance right from the get-go. I would love to see more of him on screen in other dramas as well. There will be yet another reunion in the next episode, impatiently waiting to watch that scene.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 2 Story Review – Another Escape

The second episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was just as entertaining and lively as the first one but it ended too soon. This episode too focused on the adventures of the SSG boys with Saad and Shahzain taking the lead. It is truly refreshing to finally watch a play which is going to cover the journey of a group of young people. The reckless attitude of these boys makes me look forward to this journey even more. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance tonight was phenomenal, he owns his role completely. Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali didn’t have a lot of dialogues tonight either although they are just as actively involved in the group’s activity as the other two boys. Shahzain has been getting more screen time than all the other boys and I feel this could have easily been avoided. Having said that, all the boys have a definite screen presence and their performances have been on point.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 2 Story Review - Another Escape

Once again all the scenes tonight showed how the boys were completely focused on having a good time without giving a lot of consideration to the consequences. The quirkiness of the boys coupled with quite a few dialogues which were absolutely hilarious made this episode a good watch. This episode was also directed brilliantly throughout; the scene covering SSG’s meeting with the headmaster was my favorite since it was executed so well. The energy, enthusiasm and naivety of the young age has been translated faultlessly on screen by all the actors. Shahzain is more sure about himself and his plans than anyone else, he is the leader who isn’t the best student but he has tons of confidence, a trait which is more conspicuous than any other.

Enjoyable and Light-Hearted

Tonight’s episode opened with Raani telling her mother her ‘tragic’ story which was packed with lies! Raani is the female version of Shahzain, her confidence gets her in to trouble but that doesn’t stop her from trying to be in control of things, continuously. Zara Noor Abbas has given this character the right treatment which makes her scenes thoroughly entertaining. She has definitely breathed life in to this character in the best way possible. This scene was followed by the assembly scene in which the boys thought they were going to get a beating and were fully prepared to deal with the situation. Khurshid ended up getting the beating and I must say that I felt for him. This was another scene which showed the ‘worries’ and concerns of student life especially when you are a student who is constantly putting himself in danger. All these situations reflected just that which made these scenes enjoyable.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 2 Story Review - Another Escape

The azad and khudmukhtar inquiry speech was hilarious. The warden and the headmaster both are well-suited for the characters they are playing. “Iqbal ke shaheeno yani ke in charu kaminu” and other dialogues like this one made warden’s dialogues one of the best tonight. The body language of the boy who came to call the SSG boys was superb; an exemplary student who was very proud of escorting these ‘nalaiks’ to the headmaster’s office. The yateemi and massomiyat ka mask didn’t get the boys out of trouble this time around but that did not stop them from planning another escape.

The Love Story

Saad and Dua’s first chance meeting was covered in this episode but it was not a case of love at first sight (thankfully!). Saad has already seen Dua before and is completely smitten by her. While Alizeh Shah‘s performance and her character has not been too appealing, Ahad Raza Mir’s performance in this scene as well was phenomenal. He truly looked like someone who was head over heels in love but didn’t have the confidence to approach Dua. Later on in the taxi too Shahzain took the lead while Saad wasn’t sure that all of this was a good idea. This meeting was also translated exceptionally well on screen, except for the part where the boys looked directly at the girls for such a long time without Dua snapping at them. The entire atmosphere however was perfect.

Final Remarks

Fun, witty and enjoyable, this second episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was just as engaging as the previous one with the boys stealing the limelight completely. This drama transfers you to another world and the credit for that goes to the entire team. I was looking forward to Saad’s meeting with his father but it seems like we will have to wait another week for that. The preview of the next episode showed that Saad’s love life will be given more screen time and this time around the boys will get away with their escape, that explains why they are so ‘confident’. The background score in this episode was perfect for every scene and I love the energy with which all the boys and Zara Noor Abbas have translated their characters on screen. Waiting for more exciting episodes in the upcoming weeks and wondering how the personalities of these boys will shape up once they get enrolled in the military. So much to look forward, eagerly waiting to watch the next episode.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 19 Story Review – The Next Phase

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was more of a transition episode with which the story moved forward to the next phase. The good aspect of Ehd-e-Wafa right now is that all the boys are being given equal screen time. Dua and Saad’s scenes in the previous few episodes were truly impactful therefore I was waiting to see more of them. Saad it seems is giving Dua the time she needs to concentrate on her studies but it would have been good to see a little more interaction between the two. So far the biggest takeaway from this drama is how youngsters from opposite genders can help each other grow. We have at least 6 youngsters in this drama who are career oriented which is definitely a first for a Pakistani drama! At first just like everyone else I was also disappointed that all these friends were not going to join the army together but now it is good to see how different professions are being covered through their journeys. The new OST has definitely been a refreshing and much needed addition to Ehd-e-Wafa.

Different Journeys

This latest episode of Ehd-e-Wafa focused on the ugly side of politics and I must say that Shahzain did not take long to act on the advices given to him by his ‘mentor’. Saad continued to be the leader who would do anything to make sure that his team won. Shariq’s scene was confusing since he did exactly what he had been doing right from the start of his career. Ramsha has been working with him for such a long time yet she was surprised when he was not willing to take dictation. This development did not make a lot of sense since I didn’t feel that he was being personal but he asked valid questions regarding Shahzain’s academic qualifications. This entire development however showed that Shahzain was going to be the backstabber since he was told that would help him further his career. I must say that everything that Shahzain’s mentor said to him was written exceptionally well – meaningful dialogues which showed the dark side of politics.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 19 Story Review - The Next Phase

When Shehryar called Saad to tell him about the talk show for the first time it seemed like Shehryar was looking forward to a face off between Shariq and Shahzain yet later on his reaction suggested something entirely different. I must say that for a second even I felt for Shahzain because this was such a big insult and was left wondering if he deserved it. Later on however, he himself proved that he did not deserve to be friends with people like Shariq and Shehryar. These developments were definitely surprising and changed my opinions about these characters as the story progressed.

Saad and Gulzar’s scenes showed their fun sides yet again. It is always good to see that these two are still in touch and share their triumphs with each other. Saad and Dua’s scene in this episode was brief but it was meaningful. Although Saad and his father did not have a lot of screen time together yet the on-screen chemistry between these actors is simply remarkable – definitely one of a kind. The fact that their expressions are always on point whenever they either talk about each other or are together adds to the emotional value of their scenes. When Saad talked to Dua about his father, his concerns and feeling were easy to relate to. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance has been exceptional throughout even though in the firing practice scene his contouring and highlighting was a little too obvious. Saad is turning out to be my favorite character and at the same time I find myself rooting for Shariq and Shehryar. Rani also deserved someone better than Shahzain, his dark side is really off-putting and it seems like his political career is only going to make it worse.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 19 Story Review - The Next Phase

The Preview

The preview of the next episode suggested that Saad will leave for his first real mission and before going his dialogues suggested that something tragic might happen. Although I would love to see a happy ending to Dua and Saad’s love story but so far Saad’s leadership qualities suggest that he will take any kind of risk to make sure that he accomplishes his mission. The leaked BTS pictures of course suggested something different but right now it seems it could be a way to perhaps mislead the viewers. Shehryar it seems will clear the CSS exams and interview. The look on Shehryar’s face when Shahzain told him that he ‘helped’ him pass the exam broke my heart – I am pretty sure though that he is lying once again! Seems like Shahzain is going to practice everything he has been ‘taught’ on his friends even before he starts his active political career.

Final Remarks

Even though this episode was not as impactful as the previous two but overall it was the kind of episode which makes you look forward to more. What does the future hold for Saad? Will Shehryar believe Shahzain? Shariq has made it big in the media and it was great watching him get a better slot. It has been great watching these boys grow. Is there hope for Shahzain? It seems highly unlikely at the moment. Tonight’s episode was executed well and some of the dialogues were really powerful.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 18 Story Review – Positive & Inspiring

This was yet another beautiful and thoughtful episode of Ehd-e-Wafa. The meaningful dialogues, superb performances by all the actors involved and the fact that the outdoor scenes in particular were shot so well made this episode a treat to watch. The pace of the drama and the screenplay is much more engaging now than it was few weeks back. Ehd-e-Wafa is refreshing, original and entertaining.

Latest Developments

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa opened with Saad finding out that his seniors were actually playing a prank on him and later on the viewers were shown how Saad continued to show his leadership skills. Saad and Gulzar’s conversations were entertaining and enlightening at the same time. In a fun way the viewers got to see different ways in which the soldiers are trained. This episode also had a short but meaningful scene which showed the special relationship Saad had with his mother. She is the first one he shares his achievements and fears with.

Raani’s scenes tonight were hilarious. Raani and Shahzain have not changed at all, their essential nature is the same as it was in the beginning. Raani was shown fooling the women so that they would vote for her husband. It was amusing watching Raani tell these women the importance of education. Raani’s dialogues about how politicians use fake promises to get votes were sadly a true reflection of our political system. It was however good to see Shahzain telling her not to do that but at the same time he does not really qualify for the seat he is contesting from. The preview of the next episode also suggested that Shahzain is just as arrogant today as he was so many years back.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 18 Story Review - Positive & Inspiring

Shariq was always focused but now he has a definite direction in life which has given him so much confidence. The relationship between Ramsha and Shariq is truly refreshing. Both these actors have amazing on-screen chemistry and their performances have been on point right from the start. The way Shariq managed to have his own way and wasn’t willing to work without Ramsha was likable. At the same time Ramsha was more than happy with Shariq going ahead with this position without her. I have said this before but I feel the need to say it again – I don’t remember the last time we saw such a healthy and positive friendship between a man and a woman in a Pakistani drama. The writer deserves full marks for this realistic representation of so many young men and women who help each other grow as friends.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 18 Story Review - Positive & Inspiring

Similarly, Shehryar too wants Masooma to study and the idea of marriage doesn’t appeal to him just yet. Just like all the other youngsters in the drama he too wants to focus on his studies which he knows that is the only way to get a good job and improve his living conditions. Having said that, I truly felt for poor Masooma. It is definitely great watching men who expect more from women than chai and roti! Masooma has a completely different mindset and I do think that there is nothing wrong with that. A lot of women are housewives and they also contribute in their own way. It was good to see Shehryar re-evaluating his actions later on and heading back home to perhaps apologize to Masooma. I am wondering if Shehryar telling Masooma off will give her the motivation she needs to change the way she perceives her future. Through Shehryar, Gulzar and Shariq’s track, the writer has aptly shown how young people can change their destiny by setting certain goals for themselves and working hard to achieve these goals.

Final Remarks

All the actors performed absolutely remarkably tonight and I love how the writer has represented the youth in this drama. The variations in the characters and their journeys has made Ehd-e-Wafa a must watch. The preview of the next episode was brilliant – Shariq’s confidence and conviction on one side and Shahzain’s arrogance on the other! Also, looking forward to Dua and Saad’s conversation. Ehd-e-Wafa has taken off for good and it seems like it will only get even better from here on.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 16 Story Review – Engaging and Emotional

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa yet again had quite a few social and powerful messages. It was written, directed and acted-out superbly. This episode of Ehd-e-Wafa also had some emotional scenes which showed the mature and sensible side of the leading characters. Just like every other episode of this drama, this one too showed a different side of the military training. The punishment was shown in detail in the PMA and the primary rules were also spelled out. These rules made perfect sense and such scenes showed how important character building was during this training. The addition of the new OST in the show is definitely one which was much needed since the original OST did not go well with most situations. This was definitely one of the best episodes of Ehd-e-Wafa even though it did not involve all the leading characters but Saad and Dua’s tracks were covered so well. While most dramas show how desperate young people are to get married to the people they love, it is definitely refreshing to watch a play which focuses on career-oriented and intelligent young people who make their parents proud.

Strong Women, Intelligent Decisions

Dua’s scenes tonight were endearing. The way she embraced the truth showed her practical and sensitive side was inspiring. Instead of getting bitter or angry, she actually felt bad that her father lived with the fear that she might find out the truth some day. Alizeh Shah gave a solid performance tonight which made Dua’s scenes more impactful. The way the director and the writer established Dua’s heart-warming relationship with her father in the past two weeks was great since without it the situations now wouldn’t have been as emotional as they were tonight. Her father in particular gave her enough strength to cope with the most difficult situations. Through this track the writer showed intelligently that women can choose not to become victims.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 16 Story Review - Engaging and Emotional

Dua proved just that by making a wise decision when Raheel saw her with Saad in the past and now too her approach was mature. Raheel turned out to be even more negative and manipulative than expected. After finding out that Dua was adopted he actually did his ‘homework’ before threatening Dua. This track was handled tactfully by the writer and it also highlighted the legal aspect of the entire situation. It is great how the writer presented us with a solution as well. Even though the conversations between Dua and her mother suggested that she might get married to Raheel but it was so good to see that these strong women came up with a solution instead of getting blackmailed. This track was truly refreshing because we are so used to watching women rely on men in our dramas.

The Proud Parents

Saad’s growth has been shown convincingly in the past few weeks. Tonight too, his track opened with showing a really positive side of his personality. His focused approach, positive mindset and leadership qualities were highlighted in the past few episodes as well therefore it did not come as a surprise at all that he won the sword of honor. The emotional conversation between Saad and his father was totally worth the wait! I had been waiting to see them together and this time around Saad’s father was more sure about his son’s capabilities than he ever was before. Saad always wanted to prove himself to his father therefore for him the biggest reward was that his father acknowledged and appreciated his efforts. Ahad Raza Mir’s exceptional performance throughout has been the best part of this drama. His expressions are always on point no matter what the situation. Faraz Inam has his own unique acting style and it is extremely likable. This was definitely the kind of scene which you can watch over and over again. The connection between these two characters in this particular scene was simply amazing.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 16 Story Review - Engaging and Emotional

Saad’s mother has to be the coolest and most intelligent woman we have seen yet in dramas. Usually the ‘cool’ mothers are only cool and not too sensible therefore watching someone with this combo is definitely great. Saad finally called Dua and his expressions were priceless. Eagerly looking forward to Dua and Saad’s meeting, they are two exceptionally intelligent people who will make a wonderful on-screen couple. Saad’s sister’s achievements too were an interesting addition to this entire development – these are the kind of youngsters we need to see in dramas.

Gulzar’s scene with his parents was equally emotional. This man has come a long way!! He is another great example of resilience. Gulzar’s parents were absolutely adorable, the actors chosen for the purpose were perfect for playing these roles. Their innocence and sense of pride was translated on screen so well. And this was such a good way of showing that how people from different backgrounds are polished in the PMA and if they work hard enough, they eventually get what they deserve. Gulzar had the viewers rooting for him right from the start. A brilliant performance by Adnan Samad Khan yet again tonight, hopefully we will get to see more of him in the future too.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 16 Story Review - Engaging and Emotional

Final Remarks

I absolutely loved this latest episode of Ehd-e-Wafa, it was extremely emotional, entertaining and refreshing. Saife Hassan did exceptionally well while covering the scenes at PMA. Mustafa Afridi covered Saad and Dua’s scene so well, they were entertaining and impactful. These two characters won me over completely. Can’t wait to watch the next episode.

Did you watch tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa? Waiting to know whether you guys liked it as much as I did.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 15 Story Review – Important Developments

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa had a lot of important developments to its credit. Some of the scenes were extremely emotional. The story is moving forward at a faster pace now and this time around some of the developments were completely unpredictable. Saad’s track was the highlight of this recent episode. Watching him grow into this responsible young man who looks out for others has been endearing. Dua’s track took an unexpected turn and the surprise was worth the wait after all.

The Tragic Death

Dua’s scene with her father was the most emotional and meaningful scene in the previous episode. Dua’s parents conversation on the dinner table and in the car tonight made much more sense after knowing that Dua was indeed adopted. Dua’s mother was always all for telling her the truth but her husband always stopped her from doing so. Dua’s father once again took a stand for his daughter but this time around it wasn’t easy for him to live with the guilt. His state of mind after the visit to his brother’s house and the accident was executed really well. With Dua’s father gone, the family dynamics changed completely. On the one hand we saw a much stronger side of Dua’s mother and on the other hand we saw her revealing an ugly truth to her at a time which wasn’t exactly ideal. Alizeh Shah‘s performance tonight was superb throughout. Right from the time when she saw her father’s dead body to the moment when her mother told her the ugly truth, Alizeh Shah translated Dua’s feelings brilliantly on screen. I especially liked Dua’s reaction when she saw her father’s dead body, it was extremely emotional and powerful.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 15 Story Review - Important Developments

Saad’s Growth

Saad’s growth as an individual and a professional has been the highlight of this drama. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance has definitely added to the overall impact this character has. In every episode the viewers get to see Saad helping someone out in some way or the other. Most of the times he is shown taking the lead while the other boys follow. Back in the college days he was shown as a shy individual who always found it difficult to take initiative. Saad moving into Sher Khan Shaheed’s room was a great way of showing just how far he had come. This was one of the most emotional scenes in tonight’s episode. Gulzar and Saad’s conversations in tonight’s episode also showed how much they understood each other now. Adnan Samad Khan too has changed his style a little which went well with the changes in his character. Gulzar is slightly more groomed now but he is still the same person he was so many years back. Gulzar giving the young cadet punishment for not knowing who was Attaullah Esakhelwi was hilarious.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 15 Story Review - Important Developments

Other Tracks

Shahzain and Raani’s scenes were once again comic. This scene came right after Dua’s heartbreaking scene and I felt that the timing of these scenes wasn’t perfect. Shariq and Ramsha’s scenes were cute. Ramsha’s personality has been appealing right from the start. Hajra Yamin’s performance is equally energetic. The idea she gave Shariq was perfect and this could be the start of a wonderful career plan. Shariq’s life is finally headed towards a direction which guarantees that all his dreams will eventually come true. Shehryar was missing from this episode but rest of the tracks were covered well.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 15 Story Review - Important Developments

Final Remarks

The preview of the next episode suggested that Dua will decide to marry Raheel after finding out the truth. Shahzain’s political career will also start from the upcoming episode. Tonight’s episode was well-put-together, emotional and a must watch. Except for Shahzain’s track, all the other tracks are keeping my interest alive at this point. Saad is a dependable, responsible and smart young man, it would be great if Dua and Saad together in the end. Raheel definitely does not deserve a decent girl like Dua. Everything that Dua’s mother said about Raheel tonight was extremely gratifying!

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 14 Story Review – Fast Paced

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa covered a great deal. The story finally moved forward to the next phase. The friendship between the boys it seems is officially over. We all have to contend with the fact that the drama is not about the friendship of the SSG boys but it is about their individual journeys. The OST is seriously misleading since it suggests that the plot essentially would revolve around friendship. Having said that, I am glad that every episode of Ehd-e-Wafa has an important message put forward in an entertaining way. Ahad Raza Mir’s acting tonight was remarkable. The role reversal in the end was the most entertaining part of this episode. The writer has clearly not been able to give equal screen time to all the boys and all the tracks have not been covered with precision. The highlight of this episode was the role Dua and Saad’s parents played in a situation which was quite tricky. Ehd-e-Wafa provides light entertainment with some important messages and there are times when you miss the emotional element. The good thing is that they are no glaring flaws in the drama, the director Saife Hasan has definitely done a great job and most of the actors too have played their part well. Tonight’s episode focused more on Saad and thankfully Shahzain did not get a lot of screen time.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 14 Story Review - Fast Paced

The Role of Parents

The ‘secret’ was finally revealed in this episode and I must say that it was a huge disappointment. The way Dua’s parents were discussing this ‘issue’ made it look like it was something really serious. Raheel has to be the most annoying character in this drama and it was good to see Dua telling him off. Dua’s father’s role in all of this was extremely likable. The way her father dealt with the situation showed his faith in her and there were no clichés there, which was refreshing. This however made me wonder why Dua’s sensible father couldn’t talk to her earlier about this proposal? He could have easily taken Dua into confidence considering he has such a good relationship with his daughter.

Saad’s mother is like a wise friend to him, who guides him without judging. The way she listened to Saad and made him understand Dua’s point of view was another refreshing element of this episode. The writer by showing all of this clearly sent out the message that you cannot force your grown up children to do things a certain way. Saad and Dua both had faith in their parents which is why they shared all the details with them. Instead of relying on a friend or a cousin, they relied on their parents who gave them the best advice. The way Saad and Dua’s relationship was ‘paused’ was novel and interesting to watch. I miss watching Saad’s father and I feel that is a big reason why at times I find it really hard to connect to the characters at a deeper level.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 14 Story Review - Fast Paced

The story was fast forwarded a few years and that is when the viewers were shown a very different side of Gulzar and Saad. It was interesting watching this role reversal. This entire situation showed how far the boys had come. Shariq was once again shown pursuing his dreams and Shehryar continued to juggle work and his studies with the same commitment. I am definitely waiting to see what the future holds for Shehryar. Shehryar and Masooma’s track is cute but was it really needed?

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 14 Story Review - Fast Paced

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode was fast paced and the performances were on point. However, this drama unfortunately lacks flow because the screen time has not been divided properly. There is too much going on and some of the developments especially in Shariq’s life have been quite haphazard right from the time these boys left college. The fact that Saad’s father has not made an appearance for the longest time is also strange. Other than that, Ehd-e-Wafa is a decent watch primarily because of the cast. There is always something likable about every episode which makes me tune in to this play every week.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 13 Story Review – Different Journeys

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa covered the end of a friendship which is losing its emotional value with every passing episode. Although, all the boys clearly want to be together but the anger and resentment seems to be growing with every passing episode. Saad’s track was relatively more interesting tonight. The opening scene of this latest episode of Ehd-e-Wafa suggested that Saad might rethink his decision but right now, this particular track is clearly going around in circles. Sometimes, it seems like these boys bring out the worst in each other – definitely not an ideal situation! Some of the scenes tonight were meaningful and then there were so many other conversations which could have been chopped down. I haven’t warmed up to Shahzain’s character at all therefore his internal turmoil and ‘tantrums’ only make his character even more annoying. Watching a grown up man act like a spoiled brat isn’t the least bit interesting! Shehryar continues to be the only level-headed character without any issues.

Shahzain’s Ego and Yet Another Fight

Every time these friends have met ever since they left college, their meetings always end with a fight. Even then they continue to meet each other hoping that they will be able to relive the friendship they had in college. Shahzain’s ego and immature approach towards everything continues to be the main reason why the issues between them are not resolved. Until now Shehryar was the voice of reason. He could see that Shahzain was wrong even before but he did not voice his opinion before. Tonight it was good to see Shehryar confronting Shahzain. Ahmed Ali Akbar has nailed his character. His journey too has been quite inspiring. Shahzain is too used to playing the leader, he does not like to be told that he has done something wrong. Shahzain’s reaction tonight once again showed a really negative side of his character. Later on however when his dada gave him the option of getting married to Dua, he did not agree to the plan. While Shahzain’s character is easy to understand, it isn’t appealing in any way and right from the beginning he has been the centre of attention for some reason.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 13 Story Review - Different Journeys

Shahzain is clearly an expert at holding grudges and holding other people accountable. He does not like taking responsibility for his own actions even though he too does not want to end this friendship. After the fight, he blamed Shehryar for ruining his image in front of his dada. The friendship between the boys was the highlight of the first few episodes but once they left college, there has been a little too much bitterness between them and the misunderstandings are never ending – definitely not enjoying watching this track. The individual tracks of the boys are much more interesting to watch.

Saad’s Track

Saad’s track and the scenes shot at the PMA have been the highlight of this drama for the past few weeks. Unlike Shahzain’s track, these scenes were more meaningful and they showed character growth. Saad once again showed how mature he was in his approach while interacting with his friends at the PMA. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance continues to be faultless. His expressions tonight were yet again on point. In the opening scene it was quite clear that he missed the friendship he had with the boys. At the same time he once again was shown giving Gulzar the confidence he needed to prepare for the big exam. The actor playing Harris’ role is also playing his part really well. The preview of the next episode also suggested that Saad will give up his place so that Harris can get a chance to go get the international training. We definitely get to see a really different and more likable side of Saad’s personality when he is at the academy or when he is not around his old friends, especially Shahzain.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 13 Story Review - Different Journeys

Final Remarks

Although this episode was strictly okay primarily because of Shahzain’s tantrums but the preview of the next episode suggested that we will get to see more of Shehryar in his own house in the upcoming episode, which is definitely something I am looking forward to seeing. Dua and Saad will finally meet and the cousin will yet again make an appearance which makes me wonder if there is a reason why Dua’s cousin is so possessive about her.

My favorite scene from this episode was the one in which Shehryar hugs the singer after Shahzain breaks his accordion. This was such a meaningful scene since no one could have understood this man’s pain better than Shehryar.

Ehd-e-Wafa Episode 12 Story Review – Building Relationships

Tonight’s episode was Ehd-e-Wafa wasn’t as intense as last week’s episode. It was an entertaining episode with a few important developments. It was good to see Faraz after weeks of disappearance in tonight’s episode. Ehd-e-Wafa is a mix of emotions, social messages and mostly light entertainment. It is turning out to be an interesting play. I hope that the writer will be able to do justice to all the tracks since there are so many of them. Raani and Shahzain’s scenes tonight could have been chopped down. Rest of the tracks are definitely more meaningful. The most interesting element of Ehd-e-Wafa has been that in every episode we see a different side of Saad’s character. Shahzain too keeps you guessing. Saad’s character is somewhat complex and is quite like some of the other characters Ahad Raza Mir has played recently. Ahad Raza Mir has done justice to all the different shades of his character which makes it easier to connect to his happy and sad times. Saad’s scenes at the PMA were the highlight of this episode thanks to the director and all the actors involved. These scenes are always emotional and entertaining.

Building Relationships

Saad’s scene at the academy once again showed how he was helping others around him and in the process he was building relationships. While things with his college friend Shahzain were not sorted in the previous episode, he seems to be doing great when it comes to helping his friends at the PMA. Once again his scenes at the academy clearly showed that he wasn’t just a positive influence on others around him but also went out of his way to ensure that whatever he did was in line with the teachings of the academy. This episode focused completely on Saad’s friends at the PMA, the training and that one scene with his father. That conversation Saad had with his father was sweet as usual but it made me wonder if something tragic was in store – I really hope not!

Gulzar’s energetic presence yet again made him the centre of attention. Adnan Samad Khan’s organic performance makes his scenes an absolute treat to watch. He brings out the best in his character. All the other boys at the academy were equally convincing in this episode. Saad’s new friend and his relationship with Saad was heart warming as well. The role the seniors played in bringing this family together came as a complete surprise but this was another aspect of the kind of intervention which goes on in the PMA which most of us were quite unaware of. This entire track had a happy ending and that is how Saad won yet another friend who knows he can depend on him. Exceptional performances by all the actors involved made these scenes few of the best in this episode. Ahad Raza Mir’s expressions in all the scenes were priceless. He also shares great on-screen chemistry with all his co-actors. His expressions when he was talking to Faraz were exceptional – spontaneous and on point.

The Other Tracks

This was yet another episode of Ehd-e-Wafa which opened with Raani and Shahzain’s scenes. Raani made a plan which eventually worked in her favor. She might not be a good student but otherwise she is a really smart young lady who knows how to get her way. Zara Noor Abbas gave another brilliant performance tonight but Osman Khalid Butt was as stiff as ever! Raani’s scenes add color and fun to each episode. Some of her dialogues tonight were hilarious but this track was once again given more screen time than necessary. It would have been good if Shariq’s family was shown instead since that particular track was extremely powerful last week.

Shariq and Shehryar’s conversation showed how fed up Shehryar was of the fight between Saad and Shahzain. While Shariq has just found out about this, Shehryar already knew about it and had also talked to Shahzain earlier. I missed watching Shehryar and Masooma’s scenes tonight.

Dua’s track was covered in a single scene which suggested that Dua’s parents were hiding something from her. Is she adopted? It certainly seemed like it was something more serious than a bachpan ki mangni.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was interesting overall. The preview of the next episode suggested that Shahzain will show his dark side yet again – definitely not something I am looking forward to. This time around Shehryar will tell Shahzain off – still wondering where this track is headed!
