Even after the last episode of the drama has aired, the craze for Meray Paas Tum Ho doesn’t seem to die down. It feels like the end, with Danish’s death, wasn’t really the end, because the audience still wants to see Mehwish suffer for what she did.
And perhaps, their wish might be granted because recently, while speaking on ARY News’ morning show Bakhabar Savera, the writer, Khalil ur Rehman Qamar said that a sequel for Meray Paas Tum Ho could come in the foreseeable future.
“I normally do not write sequels for my dramas, but I may think of a sequel for this one,” Khalil said.
Considering how the audience was majorly unsatisfied with the abrupt ending of the drama, a sequel might do good to satisfy our interest in what happened to Mehwish after Danish died. However, the sensation that Meray Paas Tum Ho became, it will be very hard and pressurizing for the makers to keep the sequel up to the mark, if it happens in the future.

Khalil-ur-Rehman always ends his drama on not so happy note. The writer of super-hit drama Mere Paas Tum Ho has been criticized for killing the protagonist Danish played by Humayun Saeed. The fans were completely devasted when Danish died and many people cried badly.
Khalil-ur-Rehman in an interview talked about why he killed Danish at the end. He revealed, “She(Mehwish) should not die, she must live and regret her whole life that’s the biggest lesson for her.”
Qamar also talked about Danish and said, “He is free after death. He could not go to another woman that’s why he died.”

Tonight’s episode of Ehd-e-Wafa was more of a transition episode with which the story moved forward to the next phase. The good aspect of Ehd-e-Wafa right now is that all the boys are being given equal screen time. Dua and Saad’s scenes in the previous few episodes were truly impactful therefore I was waiting to see more of them. Saad it seems is giving Dua the time she needs to concentrate on her studies but it would have been good to see a little more interaction between the two. So far the biggest takeaway from this drama is how youngsters from opposite genders can help each other grow. We have at least 6 youngsters in this drama who are career oriented which is definitely a first for a Pakistani drama! At first just like everyone else I was also disappointed that all these friends were not going to join the army together but now it is good to see how different professions are being covered through their journeys. The new OST has definitely been a refreshing and much needed addition to Ehd-e-Wafa.
Different Journeys
This latest episode of Ehd-e-Wafa focused on the ugly side of politics and I must say that Shahzain did not take long to act on the advices given to him by his ‘mentor’. Saad continued to be the leader who would do anything to make sure that his team won. Shariq’s scene was confusing since he did exactly what he had been doing right from the start of his career. Ramsha has been working with him for such a long time yet she was surprised when he was not willing to take dictation. This development did not make a lot of sense since I didn’t feel that he was being personal but he asked valid questions regarding Shahzain’s academic qualifications. This entire development however showed that Shahzain was going to be the backstabber since he was told that would help him further his career. I must say that everything that Shahzain’s mentor said to him was written exceptionally well – meaningful dialogues which showed the dark side of politics.
When Shehryar called Saad to tell him about the talk show for the first time it seemed like Shehryar was looking forward to a face off between Shariq and Shahzain yet later on his reaction suggested something entirely different. I must say that for a second even I felt for Shahzain because this was such a big insult and was left wondering if he deserved it. Later on however, he himself proved that he did not deserve to be friends with people like Shariq and Shehryar. These developments were definitely surprising and changed my opinions about these characters as the story progressed.
Saad and Gulzar’s scenes showed their fun sides yet again. It is always good to see that these two are still in touch and share their triumphs with each other. Saad and Dua’s scene in this episode was brief but it was meaningful. Although Saad and his father did not have a lot of screen time together yet the on-screen chemistry between these actors is simply remarkable – definitely one of a kind. The fact that their expressions are always on point whenever they either talk about each other or are together adds to the emotional value of their scenes. When Saad talked to Dua about his father, his concerns and feeling were easy to relate to. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance has been exceptional throughout even though in the firing practice scene his contouring and highlighting was a little too obvious. Saad is turning out to be my favorite character and at the same time I find myself rooting for Shariq and Shehryar. Rani also deserved someone better than Shahzain, his dark side is really off-putting and it seems like his political career is only going to make it worse.
The Preview
The preview of the next episode suggested that Saad will leave for his first real mission and before going his dialogues suggested that something tragic might happen. Although I would love to see a happy ending to Dua and Saad’s love story but so far Saad’s leadership qualities suggest that he will take any kind of risk to make sure that he accomplishes his mission. The leaked BTS pictures of course suggested something different but right now it seems it could be a way to perhaps mislead the viewers. Shehryar it seems will clear the CSS exams and interview. The look on Shehryar’s face when Shahzain told him that he ‘helped’ him pass the exam broke my heart – I am pretty sure though that he is lying once again! Seems like Shahzain is going to practice everything he has been ‘taught’ on his friends even before he starts his active political career.
Final Remarks
Even though this episode was not as impactful as the previous two but overall it was the kind of episode which makes you look forward to more. What does the future hold for Saad? Will Shehryar believe Shahzain? Shariq has made it big in the media and it was great watching him get a better slot. It has been great watching these boys grow. Is there hope for Shahzain? It seems highly unlikely at the moment. Tonight’s episode was executed well and some of the dialogues were really powerful.

Urwa Hocane showed up in a silver gown. It was sparkly, it was beautiful and sat well on Urwa’s petite frame. She let the outfit do the talking which was partly off shoulder with one full sleeve. A long tail and a belt also amped up the gorgeous gown. Urwa kept her hairstyle simple but her makeup was vibrant and made her look fresh. She paired it with silver earrings and voila. Super pretty and definitely well-dressed! Farhaan Saeed and Urwa are known for color coordinating, which is not only sweet but a beautiful statement that they make as a couple. This event was no different. Farhan wore the shade of grey which beautifully complemented Urwa’s silver gown. His suit was simple and elegant and hairstyle was perfect. They were a best dressed couple undoubtedly.
Adnan Siddique
Adnan Siddique looked suave and charming. His choice of suit was brilliant and the colors that he played with complimented his grey hair beautifully. Adnan wore a navy blue turtleneck underneath a charcoal grey suit. He wore glasses as an accessory and and kept his hairstyle neat. The grey hair suit Adnan Siddique and give him a very graceful look. No doubt, he was dressed to impress.
Zara Noor Abbas
Zara Noor Abbas takes her clothing and styling seriously. She has been paying a lot of attention to her outfits and makes sure to make a statement, this is the reason her instagram feed is filled with gorgeous pictures of Zara looking beautiful. Her look at Hum Style Awards was simple, fresh and beautiful. Zara kept her hair and makeup simple to let the beautiful Asim Jofa gown do the talking. It was a gorgeous shade of plum which complimented Zara’s beautiful complexion and made it shine a lot more. Zara’s overall look was effortless and minimal, but she still looked gorgeous. Simple pink toned makeup, loose curls were what completed her look. The dress was a beautiful net gown with heavy body and tail. It accentuated Zara’s slim waistline a lot more and sat well on her frame.
Hira Hussain
Hira Hussain collaborated with TUC and she was there to host for them, this is why she wore a yellow dress which was different from the rest but definitely made a statement. She looked feminine, cute and vibrant. The dress was sleeveless gown in a beautiful vibrant shade of yellow. Hira kept her styling simple with her short hair parted sideways, a bangle in her wrist, a colorful clutch and sleek dangling earrings. It was not an elaborate look but it was different from what has been seen on the red carpets, however it worked and Hira carried this dress confidently.
Ali Rehman
Ali Rehman is one such celebrity who always loves to incorporate something traditional in his attire. This the reason the coat that he wore was no different. It was inspired by truck art with some inspiration also taken from Ajrak print and it most certainly worked. It was quirky and graceful at the same time. Ali Rehman kept his styling simple with gel back hair and a few rings in his fingers. Finally, it is good to see Ali making a style statement after disappointing at quite a few events held previously.
Fouzia Amaan
Fouzia Amaan showed up in a sleek partly off shoulder gown and she made quite a statement. She showed keeping styling simple and classy always works. Her velvet gown was a beautiful shade of blue and it fitted her tall and slim frame beautifully. Fauzia Aman went for a gel back sleek hairstyle and glowy makeup with brown smokey eyes. She wore a gorgeous set of silver necklace and earrings. She complimented the jewellery with a matching silver clutch. Simple, elegant and classy are a few adjectives that can best describe Fauzia’s red carpet look.
Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir
People could not take their eyes of the Sahad couple and what acted as a cherry on top was their color coordination. Sajal and Ahad showed up in black outfits where Ahad wore a simple black suit paired with white dress shirt – effortless and classy. Sajal Aly wore an off-shoulder gown and wrapped a ruffled net veil around her arms. Sajal straightened her hair and parted them from the center. Understated was the vibe that they went for and they ended up making quite a statement. Not calling for too much attention, still getting so much of it. They surely were best dressed celebrities at the event.
Hania Amir
Hania Amir made quite a statement with solid colored orange outfit. She wore a shimmery embellished blouse underneath, went for Hollywood waves hairstyle parted from the side, a glamorous makeup look and an orange fitted gown that had a formal look to it. Hania Amir’s choices have always been unique and she picks up such colors that add more beauty to her complexion and compliment it. She is young and that is why it is nice to see her experimenting and wearing the kind of outfits and such looks that suit her age. This was definitely one of them.
Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas
There’s no denying to the fact that both the sisters have not only aged gracefully but surely know what looks good on them. Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas chose to wear Sarees to Hum Style Awards and they both looked graceful and beautiful. Bushra Ansari’s Saree was traditional in a gorgeous shade of purple. Her hairdo was classy which goes well with the saree. A handful of glass bangles, a dangling pouch and earrings. Bushra Ansari’s look was timeless and elegant. Asma Abbas wore a beautiful beige silk saree, her look was modern and glamorous as well. It was a self printed silk saree. Asma Abbas also carried her hair in an updo, went for bright orange lipstick and some gold accessories. A gold purse and she was event ready. Bushra Ansari and Asma Abbas, both the sisters were definitely best dressed last night.
Mushk Kaleem
Mushk Kaleem wore two outfits, one for the red carpet and the other for the main event. The second outfit was indeed beautiful. It was a black and white gown with a slit and a huge bow at the back. The black fabric was shimmery whereas the white was a beautiful satin. The entire outfit was wrapped around Mushk Kaleem’s slim frame like a dream and she looked like a diva. Probably Mushk is the only one who did justice to this elaborate and appropriate award function dress. She wore her hair back and gave it a messy look. Her makeup look was grungy yet it complimented her outfit and amped it up. This quirky outfit worked and it makes a statement that those who can carry such dresses should wear them more often.
Usman Mukhtar
Usman Mukhtar succeeded in looking well-dressed at the event. He wore two different outfits throughout the function. A white coat and a bow tie during the red carpet and a maroon velvet blazer during his hosting session alongside Amina Sheikh. He looked at his absolute best and those big bold specs gave him a geek look in a nice way.
Maira Khan
Maira Khan wore the kind of outfit which is not usually seen on the red carpet but guess what, she made it work and dazzled in it. It was a gorgeous chiffon frock with stars spread all over. She also wore a golden shiny bustier underneath which peeked through the sheer chiffon material of her frock. Maira Khan’s choice was different and unique and without trying to call for a lot of attention, she ended up looking well dressed. She showed that different choices can also be sported at such an event and she carried it gracefully. She paired it with green stilettos and wore a belt. Her hair and makeup were simple and effortless. Not your typical over the top glamorous award function look but it definitely works.

With the success of Pakistani showbiz industry, these award functions have taken a different route where they are now conducted on a large scale, both locally as well as internationally. Award functions not only help in celebrating the noticeable work that the entire industry has done but it also opens domains for costume designers, makeup artists, hair stylists as well as photographers to join hands and create looks for the stars and celebrities. Over the period of time, Pakistani celebrities have started paying more attention to their red carpet and award functions looks. Hum Style Awards were conducted in Karachi, on January 25, 2020. Just like every award function, this one was no different because every single celebrity showed up trying to look their absolute best. Sana Fakhar
What was she thinking?
We love Sana Fakhar for a lot of reasons but unfortunately, this look isn’t one of them. Sana Fakhar has worked a lot on herself and no wonder why she looks fit and fab than ever. However, her choices have left us wondering what was she thinking? The only work that comes to mind when taken a detailed look at Sana Fakhar red carpet look is tacky. Her tightly curled hair look unkempt, the bronzed makeup is making her look tired. Her entire makeup is done with similar shade of browns which make her look washed out. Coming to her dress, if she had styled it properly, it might have worked but the overall look is just meh. The stockings are a wrong color, her heels are not at all going with her outfit and the Chanel clutch that she is carrying seems to be a desperate attempt to show that she is carrying a designer item. Momina Mustehsan
Red is not your color Momina!
Momina Mustehsan seems to be a red color lover. Be it in the form of her hair color or an accessory or her entire dress, she has to incorporate red color in her styling one way or the other. We have seen red working at any given occasion but not sure what is it about Momina Mustehsan that it just doesn’t seem to work at all. Momina has definitely changed her hair color probably after 5 years of being in the industry which must’ve been a good change for her fans, however, it seems she is not ready to let go of the color red just yet. The gown that she has worn is too gaudy. A straight silk gown with flared detailing on the sides is not flattering at all. As if that wasn’t enough, the tassels on her shoulders are another unnecessary detail in this poorly made dress. Her hair and makeup is also pretty unimpressive. She has gone heavy handed on the bronzing, but it still doesn’t seem to work because her hair color is washing her out. Better luck next time Momina!
Nausheen Shah
Boss lady gone wrong
Nausheen Shah is known for her quirky choices. Usually she is able to stand out and look at her best because she knows how to make things work but this red carpet look is going to be remembered for all the wrong reasons. There is absolutely nothing about this punk look; be it her hair, her makeup, her jewellery or her entire outfit that is working. It looks like Nausheen Shah got the invitation at the last moment, therefore she did not have much time to think things through or contact someone reliable. Nausheen Shah can definitely rock the dark smokey eye makeup look but in this case it doesn’t help at all. We are sure that people won’t be able to look past her hairstyle. Eeshal Fayyaz
Old dress from her closet
Eeshal Fayyaz is a model, therefore it isn’t too much to expect from her to have amazing styling sense and great choice. However, she proved that she didn’t want to showcase too much of her skills on the occasion of Hum Style Awards. May be she missed the point that word Style is a part of the event. She showed up wearing a net nighty. We are all unique and quirky choices but this one is a major fail. The red embroidery on the net poncho, followed by a similar pattern on the dress she is wearing underneath is not a pretty look. The shade of black that she has worn makes this dress look old as if it were hanging in her closet for a couple of years. Her hair and makeup is definitely nice but the dress is what we are not too happy about. Better luck next time Eshal!

So much is happening but nothing is right
Mansha Pasha has made it to this list in the past and guess what, she proudly landed herself in yet another list this year. What is Mansha wearing, seriously? A traditional embellishment on the sleeve, off shoulder formal dress on the other, a slit, some buttons, a cut on the bust, sheer tights and court shoes heels. This dress seems to be a result of someone’s confusion. It seems Mansha had some scattered ideas in her mind, therefore when she saw all of that happening in one dress, she picked it up and decided to make a statement. Well, you do make a statement but it isn’t a good one. The shade of pink is lovely for sure but the styling and making of this dress is in poor taste. Mansha decided to go for a sleek look, she kept her hair simple and makeup a little smudged smokey in plum tones. We are wondering when will be the event when Mansha will wow us. Hopefully soon. Kareena Kapoor at Veere Di Wedding Promotion, oh no, Mira Sethi at Hum Style Awards
Mira Sethi was seen trying very hard to make a statement. The shade of blue is gorgeous but the outfit most certainly is not. Skirt paired with a skimpy blouse & topped with a coat. Is this a dress suitable for interview, corporate event or midwifery? Too much is happening in a solid colored dress, but still it is not really making much sense. Mira is one of those celebrities who do not do much when it comes to hair and makeup, but for an award function, this look isn’t too appealing. Her hair look greasy and earrings seem to be picked at the very last minute, probably the only thing she had in her sight so she decided to wear them. Oh, it is just us or there are striking similarities in the outfits as seen in the picture shared below? Better luck next time Mira!

How much is too much
Ghana Ali has a very pretty face but her clothing choices are mostly hideous. This one falls in the similar category. Ghana Ali tried to present a modernized version of herself, but it ended up looking too much and too bad. The blouse is not doing her any favors. Yes, we can see that she is proud of her weight loss, however this blouse fails to sit on her properly. Ruffled detailing on the shoulder as well as the blouse make this dress look uncomfortable. The plain skirt is probably the only good thing about this outfit. Her hair is sleek, makeup is a bit too exaggerated and graphic, which is not doing justice to Ghana’s beauty. We are also not sure if such dangling earrings are the right choice to go with this kind of western outfit. There may not be any rules but things have to make sense at least, don’t they? Ayesha Omar has made it a ritual to be all out on the award functions, whether her dresses look good or not. This dress of Ayesha Omar was no different and left us confused about what was happening around Ayesha Omar’s petite frame. So many layers, a belt, pleated skirt, a slit on the inner skirt, satin, nets, a ribbon on her waist, underwired bustier, a ribbon wrapped around her shoulder – can someone please explain how many ribbons were stitched together to form this dress? We are ready to put everything aside, only to understand the concept of leather gloves and how are they complimenting her dress? Yes, we are aware of the fact that the city of lights Karachi has witnessed one of the coldest winters in history, therefore Ayesha must’ve been trying to protect her hands but what about her shoulders? *shivers*. Sonya Hussyn
Curtain raiser
Sonya Hussyn definitely is a stylish celebrity of Pakistani drama industry. She is not only pretty but knows how to carry herself in different attires, however we are not sure what goes wrong when she shows up on award functions. Sonya wore a classic white silk saree with embellished sleeveless blouse. Saree itself is a timeless classic dress which needs no alteration. The ruffled veil that she decided to wrap around her arms made it look like Sonya was trying to protect herself from Karachi’s cold weather but because she had to look glamorous, this was the only way to make things work. It looks like she snatched a curtain from the railing of her home and draped it around. Her hair and makeup is not too impressive as well. There was a time when Sonya would rock full glam looks to perfection but lately it looks like she is trying to explore the minimal makeup look route, which makes her look tired and sleepy. When she can most certainly carry the heavier looks, she should. She had a margin especially now when she wore a white saree and a curtain. Better luck next time Sonya!

Iffat Omar is a timeless beauty of showbiz industry. She has been an icon and has always made everything look good on her but we are afraid to say, this look wasn’t one of them. It looks like Iffat Omar has been stuffed inside this ruffled blouse without her consent. Her hair and makeup is elaborate which is perfect for the occasion but her outfit is not working at all. It seems too casual and just not the right look for the night. She has paired this blouse with a flared palazzo. Too black, too basic and probably too boring. Better luck next time Iffat!

Kubra Khan is one of the most beautiful faces of Pakistani drama industry. She is a find of the industry and she always makes everything work. However, when it comes to award functions, not sure why she picks up such outfits which bring attention to her for the wrong reasons. Black seems to be Kubra’s favorite and go to color for most of the events, which is a perfect choice but that’s where it ends.. This time around too she wore a black frock. A frock is fine but we are not sure about the patchwork detail at the bottom of her dress. Orange heels are definitely eye catching but that’s where it stops. She looks beautiful in simple makeup and basic hairstyle as well but the dress is definitely a wrong choice. It looks like she fitted herself into a car wash spinning brush and tried to make it look like an outfit. Better luck next time Kubra!
Mahnoor Baloch
Call for attention
Mahnoor Baloch is a timeless beauty. It is a fact that she refuses to age, which is commendable. However, this was definitely not the night for her. Mahnoor Baloch chose to wear a saree, she could have looked elegant if her blouse was not that skimpy. The sarree was a basic silk material with gradient shades of blues and greens, nothing new there as well. The blouse was blue velvet which was pretty much not helping the overall look of the saree. Mahnoor Baloch already gets a lot of attention for her beauty, but this one seemed like a serious attempt of grabbing more attention that she usually gets. Hair was basic and makeup not too impressive either. Better luck next time Mahnoor!
Asim Azhar
Taking wildlife on a ride
We love Asim Azhar for all his fun and unique choices but unfortunately, this one was unimpressive and did not work at all. Wearing a tiger faced coat was a wrong choice and left us wondering what was the point that he was trying to prove. It’s obviously just clothes & there’s always a change awaiting by the end of an event but pictures are always going to stay forever. We can not unsee and undo bitter memories. Asim paired this coat with light colored shirt and trousers which was again a wrong choice. We have heard that animal prints in clothing never go out of fashion but to take it to another level and wear tiger face all around must’ve been uncomfortable. He is definitely a very stylish singer but this look was definitely unimpressive. Better luck next time Asim.
Amina Sheikh
Cheongsam should remain untouched
Amina Sheikh always goes out of the way to create her event looks. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don’t. Amina Sheikh is a model and someone who has worked with so many leading designers and stylists, therefore it is hard to believe that she chose to wear a gown with unflattering fitting. The gown seemed to have been inspired by Chinese Cheongsam but was more of a modern version of it. The color was beautiful and looked good on Amina but the overall dress as well as the styling didn’t do Amina any favors. Her hairstyle also did not suit her at all and seemed as if she was running out of time so decided to tie them whatever way she could. Her makeup wasn’t too glamorous and nicely done either. Amina Sheikh did change into another outfit while hosting the show, which was definitely a far better look than the one she graced the red carpet with. Better luck next time Amina!

Too Kaftan, too Kasual
Meera Jee looked like she was gone to Middle East on a vacation, therefore she purchased a lot of Kaftans and when she couldn’t find a decent outfit, she chose to wear a Kaftan and be at her utmost comfort. The silk Kaftan dress was not a right choice for the night. It was too plain, too basic and didn’t do much for Meera Jee’s exuberant personality. Meera Jee is very much capable of rocking bold and glamorous outfits as well as looks, this one was too plain to make a statement. Better luck next time Meera Jee.
Hina Ashfaq
Bun is not so fun!
Hina Ashfaq is a gorgeous model. She has groomed herself a lot and has definitely come a long way. Her photoshoots and overall personal styling is always on fleek and she actually knows what looks good on her. However, not sure what went wrong last night because the choices she made were anything but flattering. The bun and heavy fringe which covered half of her face, loud red lipstick which looked OTT. When you look at her, the first thing you notice is the weave she is wearing, which makes it look like that’s the actual outfit that she is wearing. The glittery dress which flowed around her was not a decent look either and seemed cheaply made. Better luck next time Hina!

Hangout with friends at an award function?
Looking at a frock that Zarmeena Ikram chose to wear on a glamorous night of Hum Style Awards make us wonder whether she got the right brief about it being an award function and not her best friend’s baby shower? She wore such a casual floral dress and probably thought she was making it work but no, it was a poor choice and way too casual for an award function. These kinds of dresses are suited for a luncheon with friends or just a casual get together but this attire is a no no at a formal event. She also wore leather boots, may be keeping the cold weather of Karachi in her mind but oh well!!!

Well, the show has finally come to an end and everyone waited for the last episode eagerly. There were many fan theories and one of them was Danish will die which actually happened and left everyone heartbroken.
In the last episode, Danish returned to have a conversation with his wife Mehwish but his old house reminded him of all memories of the past when she left him for rich businessmen Shahwaar.
Fans of Mere Paas Tum Ho are in utter shock as the finale revealed the death of Danish who died from a heart attack. The audience could not control their emotions and cried out loud while watching the end in cinemas and at their homes.

Ohkay so, this soulful episode of Alif covered different aspects of the story in a lot of detail. What I feel is the best part about all the episodes of Alif is that although they might come across slow-paced, but when taking a closer look, so much happens & they give us an insight into every character’s thoughts & emotions, which is absolutely brilliant. This episode was no different; from emotional struggles to professional life, unveiling of secrets to coming to terms with the past, all the fronts were covered beautifully which has left me in awe of how brilliantly the story of Alif is being told. Strong direction, stronger script-writing & acting, everything works in perfect harmony to give Alif the status of a masterpiece.
The Deal
Momina was not only doing Momin a favor, she was doing herself a favor too. Being someone who knew exactly what the status of Abdul Ala & his art was, she could not see it being sold to anyone. The deal that Momin & Momina made was heart-warming. Momin made a promise to himself that he will get those paintings back & Momina felt relieved because she knew she succeeded in saving those artworks.
Highlight of This Episode
For me, the best part of this episode was Momin’s emotional transition & how they showed his attachment to the artwork done by his grandfather. It was not like one fine day Momin woke up & realized he could not part with the paintings. I am so glad they showed us in great detail about all the things that ran through Momin’s mind. Each & every painting had a story, a memory, a conversation behind it which was now helping Momin put things into perspective. It was not just the gifts that Abdul Ala gave to Qalb e Momin, in fact they all had a lesson, a food for thought, something that would help Momin reflect & introspect when he will try to mend his ways & this is exactly what was happening now. How realistically they have shown that when someone leaves, you are reminded of all the moments you have shared with them. This is what is happening with Momin too. Ever since Abdul Ala’s death, he has not been able to get him out of his mind & as a result, he is reminded of all the meaningful & soul-stirring conversations he has had with him.
It was a brilliant execution of Momin’s journey in those few scenes, which started of with him stepping into the industry, then getting the fame & success, but all this while Abdul Ala was there, trying to guide him, trying to keep him grounded & doing everything he could to keep him in touch with his roots. As Momin started achieving the success, the change in his attitude was not only obvious, but phenomenally captured in those few scenes. Now when Momin has hit the rock bottom, he has realized the superficiality of the industry he is associated with, the slow & steady realization of losing the track & trying hard to get back on it again, Momin was astounded when he realized that he had missed all those reminders given by his grandfather every step of the way. It was like Momin was getting to learn more about himself now than ever before. He was seeing his journey through Abdul Ala’s eyes. This entire insight into Momin’s emotional turmoil & realizations was the highlight of this episode & it made so much easier to understand why Momin was finding it difficult parting with these paintings. They actually are his assets which are irreplaceable.
Secrets Unveiled
Momina & Master Ibrahim’s meeting was absolutely sweet. I loved the way Sajal Aly acted in that scene, she actually made it obvious that Momina had walked into Master Ibrahim’s room for the first time because of the way she noticed everything around her, as if trying to grasp whatever she could, to learn more about him. She has so much respect for Master Ibrahim, therefore the awe as well as happiness was evident on her face. It was like she cherished the moment of stepping into her mentor’s personal space because now she could talk to him about his life & experiences too. Momina finally got the clarification that Qalb e Momin actually is Abdul Ala’s grandson, he is also Husn e Jahan’s son too. Master Ibrahim grew uncomfortable but he knew he could not lie to Momina. At first I did not understand the disappointment that Momina felt but later it made a lot of sense that she felt for Momin because she knew her father has also played a part in ruining her life – at least this is what she thinks for now.
The Press Conference
The press conference was interesting. Once again, Momin was reminded that he has lost the position, the status that he used to have & now people were here because of one & only Momina Sultan. It was interesting how he took a backseat & let Momina deal with the questions because she not only defended the project but owned it like her own.. Momina did her part because she felt guilty & Momin has no idea what her reasons were. Momin actually was unsure of how to process everything because he was still unsure of letting go of his paintings & handing them over to Momina but when he saw her being honest & devoted to Alif, he felt at ease. It was like at that moment he felt that Dada Jaan’s paintings were in safe hands & Momina will never let go of them. All of this was just conveyed through expressions & Hamza Ali Abbasi’s performance was phenomenal. To convey so much without even uttering a word is not an easy feat but it is always a treat to see both Sajal & Hamza letting their eyes do the talking. Although I have not read the novel but I am so glad that Sajal & Hamza are playing the roles of Momin & Momina because it is their performance that is making it so easy to understand these characters & their struggles. Brilliant.
Another secret was unveiled in this episode that Husn e Jahan invited Sultan so she could give him her paintings. It was her desperate attempt to help her family & this was all she could think of. Maybe it was also Husn e Jahan’s way of getting to know about her family because it had been 7 years since she left everything behind. Sultan made his intentions clear, he was in love with her, he was also waiting for her but Husn e Jahan had taken the role of being Taha’s wife & Momin’s mother gracefully. She could not, rather did not even think of leaving Taha. She was sincere, she was loyal, she was devoted to her husband.
Phenomenal Performances
This episode was brilliant. It was soulful & I absolutely loved all the conversations. Another cute moment was when Jhumar was trying to make Sultan smile. Some friendships are like that where people involved understand the struggles of their friends & without knowing the reasons, they try everything in their might to do something. Jhumar’s scenes are always sweet, he breaks the monotony of sadness that Sultan has surrounded himself with, his energy is nice. Also, I am so glad we got to see Dada Jaan in this episode, it was like getting a good dose of his wisdom & beautiful advice. Hamza Ali Abbasi & Sajal Aly owned this episode, their acting was brilliant. I must say, whoever is responsible for the interiors of Qalb e Momin’s place has done a fabulous job, it has to be one of the best decorated spaces I have seen in Pakistani dramas. The rest of the details are pretty much the same – brilliant dialogeus, brilliant acting, brilliant direction & editing. Editors of this drama are on some other level, the way they switch to the very next scene leaving the viewers curious & wanting for more is interesting. The drama became an instant hit with the audience due to its intriguing storyline and the fact that it brought some of the finest performances from the entire cast. A social media hit and a cult classic, Meray Paas Tum Ho became one of the biggest phenomenon in the history of drama serials in Pakistan.
The last episode of the drama was screened not only on televisions but in cinemas across Pakistan, making record sales for tickets in the history of cinemas in the country. A hit, as it has been, Meray Paas Tum Ho’s ending brought about mixed reactions from the audience, mostly heartbroken ones because people sat with their hearts in their hands, watching one of the best drama serials of Pakistan’s drama history.

Mere Pass Tum Ho finally came to an end tonight. The first 20 minutes of this special episode were dedicated to showing the recap of the previous 22 episodes. This recap was well put together but a commercial break right after showing the recap was definitely not the best start to the most anticipated last episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho. I must say that I was expecting this last episode to be grand but in the first 20 minutes of the actual episode there were hardly any conversations or dialogues which truly stood out. We have certainly seen much more impactful episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho. The ending turned out to be predictable but not as impactful as expected because of the overall execution.
Poor Rumi
This last episode’s most emotional scene came at the end but it did not work for me at all. Which doctor would allow such a patient to take off his oxygen mask and have a conversation with a kid? The only character I truly felt for was Rumi – poor kid after going through so much, he also had to witness his father’s death first hand. Danish’s dialogues were emotional but watching him have this long conversation in the condition he was in was also laughable…not impressed at all! I can already see all the memes coming. In the end Danish died of a heart break which in a way was the only apt ending for his character since he could never live a happy life without Mehwish. The entire scenario covering the heart attack right from the time it happened was covered in such a way so that before dying Danish could say his final goodbyes – been-there-seen-that.
The conversation between Shehwar and Maham showed that Shehwar was truly remorseful and he was certain that he did not deserve to spend the rest of his life with Maham. Maham however did not want him to go this soon but at the same time was not willing to leave him. Shehwar basically chose to leave because he wanted to and in the end he blamed Mehwish entirely. Maham’s dialogues and her stance was disappointing.
Final Remarks
This last episode did not work for at all since Danish’s death was the most predictable ending, something most of us anticipated. Unfortunately, the death of the one character the viewers loved the most was not even covered convincingly. Rumi and Danish’s scenes in this episode were sweet and I do feel that the writer decided to make the ending all about the father-son relationship owing to their popularity.
Mere Pass Tum Ho’s story started off as a familiar one. What set it apart was the superlative ensemble cast led brilliantly by Nadeem Baig. Like every other drama penned down by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar this one too highlighted his philosophy of love and unfaithfulness. Some of the dialogues were simply mind-blowing – razor-sharp to be more precise, there were others which could easily have been chopped down and then there were certain conversations which explained commitment and love beautifully. Danish was undoubtedly the star of the show. The way his emotions were covered especially after he senses that Mehwish was going to leave him was beyond impressive. The credit for that goes to Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig both. Humayun Saeed did exceptionally well especially in those episodes which covered the heartbreak, the realization that his wife had moved on. That for me is going to be the most memorable aspect of this time. Humayun Saeed’s superlative performance in Mere Pass Tum Ho is definitely going to be the reason why people will be looking forward to Humayun Saeed’s next television appearance.
The story was at times lethargic and repetitive but it kept the viewers guessing right till the end. Some of the tactics used by the producers to lure the viewers also played a major role in keeping the curiosity intact. Most of the controversies involving the drama in my opinion were misguided and ill informed. Shees Saji Gul is adorable, confident and a really witty child actor who was at times put into situations in the drama which were not appropriate for a child his age. Rumi’s dialogues in the last few episodes were definitely over-the-top and at times inappropriate for his age but his relationship with Danish was always heart-warming. It would have been so much better if this innocent aspect of the father-son relationship was explored more.
Adnan Siddiqui owned his character right from the get-go. Shehwar’s character could have ended up being just another negative character if Adnan Siddiqui did not translate it on screen so impeccably. Hira Mani’s outlook and the performance in the drama did not appeal to me much. Hania always came across as a judgmental and holier-than-thou character. Savera Nadeem made a brief but impactful appearance, the ending however was a complete disappointment. Ayeza Khan looked stunning throughout but her character did not have a lot to offer. I think she acted the best when she decided to leave Danish and the two episodes covering her regrets. Muhammad Ahmed’s performance especially in the last scene was one of the most moving performances we saw in this drama. Other than Hira Mani all the other actors did a great job of making sure that their appearances went well with different situations they were in. Other than few scenes towards the end which had some continuity issues.
The director Nadeem Baig made sure that the viewers soaked in every single emotion by focusing more on expressions in some of the scenes. The camera work in Mere Pass Tum Ho was simply amazing throughout. Right from the beginning the director even introduced Dewan sahab’s character in such a way that you could sense he was somewhat mysterious. The OST of the drama was also used intelligently throughout. The lyrics, its composition and Rahat Fateh Ali’s powerful vocals made it one of the best OST’s of the year.
Quite an exhilarating ride overall! Watching Mere Pass Tum Ho and reviewing it was a splendid experience. I really enjoyed reading everyone’s feedback and would like to thank all the wonderful readers for making sure that sometimes the discussions on reviewit were more interesting than some of the episodes.
I must however say that there was nothing new about this ending and I truly feel for those viewers who bought tickets to watch this last episode! It was not even engaging enough and did not have the flow which most of the episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho had. Danish’s conversation with Rumi was heartbreaking but it could have been shown much more convincingly.
