Irfan Ahson has covered some of the biggest celebrity weddings in Pakistan. He has covered the weddings of Atif Aslam and Junaid Safdar that went viral all over social media to name a few. He has lately been sharing some insights into the wedding business and how he gets to see the weirdest stories during events.
There has recently been a growing trend of throwing off cash at weddings. We have seen famous people as well as the public indulging in throwing money in the air over the groom and bride. It looks tacky and unnecessary in a country where people do not even get enough to eat three times. It is a way of showing off money and how rich someone is but looks like that is not always what is going on.
Irfan Ahson recently shared a story in a video. He revealed that many times this money throwing is more of an act to show your financial superiority and it is not actually given to the artists who are invited. He narrated that at an elite wedding, the qawwals were asked not to pick up floor money. They were told that the floor money will be gathered and the family will hand it to the artists in the end. Men in the family started throwing money in the air. Qawwals got excited and there were millions in floor money which the family filled in bags. In the end, the money was not given to the artist and it was only thrown to show off.
In another instance, Malkoo was given fake currency as floor money. He used it to get his cars filled with petrol and was later stopped by the police when the money turned out to be fake. Irfan Ahson and his team also shared that the dollars thrown at these weddings are always one dollar bills and never greater than that.
This is what they shared about the reality of these “elite weddings”:
Sami Khan is a versatile actor who has been a part of the industry for over two decades now. He has worked in both films and television and the actor has been really successful. He just gave back to back hits with Faraar and Duniyapur and he sat for an interview with Nukta Life. He shared his opinions on the trends in dramas, what needs to change and what keeps him going.
Recently we have seen a growing trend of glamourizing the bad boys in dramas. We saw it happening with Shuja Asad in Khaie and recently Nameer Khan in Qarz e Jaan. The public not only loved the very flawed characters played by the actors but also sympathized with them far more than the real victims in their respective dramas.
Sami Khan spoke about this trend and had a very rational take on what is going on. He gave a reference to his drama Inkaar where he said that nowadays people do not like to win love, they like to snatch it. He said that negative characters have been glamourized and we need to understand that there is not always a logic behind a bad person. A person can just be criminal by nature and we should learn from such characters that what we should not do in life.

Pakistani actors have gathered a huge Indian following in the past two decades. Our dramas have become hugely popular in India, and many Pakistani stars are household names among the Indian audience. Similarly, Bollywood stars have a fan following in Pakistan. However, this never took away the animosity between the two countries on the governmental level. The Indian Government, since the rise of Modi and the BJP, has become vicious, and intolerance has exponentially increased in Indian society. The latest manifestation came when the Indian Government blamed Pakistan for the Pehelgam Attacks without proper evidence. They went on a banning spree after this and banned Pakistani dramas and social media accounts of big stars in their country. As usual, there were never any serious measures towards investigation, and only petty measures were taken.
The Beginning
Pakistani actors and singers have worked in India since the very beginning. But things were different at that time. The artists liked to maintain their dignity before the work they were getting across the border. Zeba Bakhtiar is an actress who became a top star in India years ago. She was the Raj Kapoor heroine and only picked projects that did not cross her lines. The starlet shared in one of her interviews that India and Pakistan will always be at odds. Someone will make a statement, and suddenly everything will go haywire. She added that back in the day, the producers she worked with were protective, and they used to take ownership of the artist.
This is something missing nowadays, as we saw how Fawad Khan’s film was shelved within hours of the attack. Here is how Zeba Bakhtiar defined the old dynamics:
Post-2015 Disrespect
Pakistani actors started getting a huge fan following in India after Pakistani dramas started airing on Zee Zindagi. Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, and Sanam Saeed became sensations for their projects Humsafar and Zindagi Gulzar Hai. They were offered Bollywood films, and Fawad did Khoobsurat, Kapoor & Sons, and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, while Mahira made her debut with SRK’s Raees. The two actors were already big names in India before they made their film debut. But India, as always, treated them with disrespect.
Both artists were banned and disrespected in late 2016-2017. They were not allowed to work in Bollywood again, and fake news of them being deported was circulated by the Indian media. The artists, however, kept with the line of “Artists have no boundaries” and never openly called out this behaviour of the Indian media and government. It was once again the Pakistani fans who stood by their favourite stars and replied back to the disrespect that their favourite stars were receiving from Indians.
The Fawad Khan Case
Fawad Khan is considered one of the biggest stars in Pakistan, despite working sporadically. After making his Bollywood debut in Khoobsurat, he has primarily focused on projects in India. Following a ban, he opted not to appear on television. He was involved in two films, including The Legend of Maula Jatt, which he had already been signed for before the controversy arose. He chose to work on a series for an Indian platform. This decision has disappointed many of his Pakistani fans, who miss seeing him in mainstream projects. Recently, he addressed the criticism he faces for not taking on Pakistani projects, explaining that some people are possessive of him, while others criticize him simply for the sake of it.
Fawad Khan is a Pakistani actor who never says anything on social media because he frankly does not use it. He did not make statements in the Gaza Genocide or the Jaffar Express Attack either, but he posted for the Pehelgam Attacks. This caused a lot of uproar among Pakistani fans who thought that at this point, this is just a lack of self-respect. His film Abir Gulal is once again on hold, and his Instagram account also got banned in India.
The Mahira Khan Case
Mahira Khan is also counted among the top Pakistani actors. She also had a grand debut in Bollywood when she played the lead in SRK’s Raees but she navigated her career in a far better way than Fawad Khan and today she is a bigger star than him. She has worked consistently in Pakistan. Mahira is proud of the work she did in Bollywood and she always talks about her Indian film but she never belittles her Pakistani work. She will speak about her Shoaib Mansoor’s Bol and Sarmad Khoosat’s Humsafar with the same vigor. She has also worked on television and she will speak up on Pakistani issues as much as she speaks out on Indian attacks.
The Hania Aamir Case
Hania Aamir is a young star who just started gaining limelight in India. Her dramas Mere Humsafar and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum made her a household name in India. She was cast in a film with Diljit Dosanjh and she was promoting many Indian designers. The actress was among the first Pakistani artists who condemned Pehelgam attacks. She has spoken about propagating peace but she was shunned, her Instagram account was banned, she was reportedly removed from the Diljit Dosanjh movie and Indians were hurling abusive and offensive statements towards her:
Does Art Have No Boudaries?
Recently, art has no boundaries was once again being propagated. This statement is a universal truth, but Radcliffe Line defies its logic. Unfortunately, India has never believed in it. As soon as they have a security breach due to their own wrong policies, they will start targeting Pakistan and Pakistani actors and singers. Their artists are also vicious and seldom can hold their own opinions. They start towing the Government’s line of hatred. They will call for bans on Pakistanis and what our stars do? Invite the same hatred-spewing Javed Akhtar to their homes and will sit at his feet. One-sided love will always bring pain and that is something our artists should have learned by now. This is what happened recently:
In Conclusion
Pakistan as a nation has seen the worst of terrorism. We are among the biggest victims of terrorist attacks, with a loss of over 80,000 lives in addition to property damage. We have fought the worst attacks and lost two generations in the American WoT. Our stars have also gone through this pain. Thus, they need to be dignified when India starts attacking us, that too without any evidence. Patriotism then needs to come before art and work opportunities. Yes, we as a nation know how painful it is to lose lives in mindless attacks, but we do not need to be apologetic for something we have not done. Pakistani actors need to grow a spine, and they should condemn violence everywhere in the world, but do not disgrace themselves or the country they represent.
Despite repeated bans and public disrespect, many Pakistani actors continue to chase Bollywood like it’s their only lifeline. Their silence on India’s political hostility isn’t diplomacy, it is desperation wrapped in fear of losing opportunities. While artists from across the border face no such pressure to please, ours remain apologetic, even when wronged. It’s not ambition anymore — it’s an obsession with approval from a door that keeps slamming shut.
Superstar Iman Aly’s mother Humaira Abid Ali is also a well-renowned actress. She started her career on PTV in the golden era and that is where she met her husband, the future star Abid Ali. They both fell in love and got married. She left work for a while and focused on raising their three daughters. Things fell apart later on as Abid Ali married Rabia Nauman. Humaira Abid Ali kept working and worked in many dramas and films.
Humaira Abid Ali just passed away. The actress had an illustrious career herself and her daughters Iman Aly and Rahma Ali also made her proud. Iman Aly is a film star and supermodel who is a household name while Rahma Ali is a singer and sung songs like the Ranjha Ranjha Kardi OST.

Behroopia is a new drama starring Faysal Quraishi and Madiha Imam. The show deals with the topic of multiple personality disorder and Faysal Quraishi will be portraying 9 personalities in one show. The drama is gaining a lot of attention due to its unique topic and characters that are not like typical Pakistani drama characters. Among all the charcaters, Zara’s phupho Sitara is also getting attention.
Behroopia aka Mikael aka Faysal Quraishi wants to marry Zara played by Madiha Imam. Her phupho Sitara is now a character whose mannerisms are getting attention. Her wig as well as the grating sound she is making in acting is getting comments from viewers. People are not too big of a fan of the OTT portrayal and have a lot to say.
This is how phupho behaves:
Behroopia fans are no big fans of Sitara phupho. One netizen said,”She does not look like someone who can afford a bracelet worth 3 lakh.” One added,”She is so irritating and she is even toxic towards her own daughter.” Many want the director to take a second look at her acting as there is no way he is approving of her scenes. Fahad Mustafa is a superstar of Pakistan. The actor made some comments about family Vlogging sometime back. He said that family Vloggers are basically selling their families as content and that is not something that he can do ever in his life. He, at first, did not recognize who Fahad Mustafa is and then went on to say that Fahad has lost all respect in his eyes.
Azlan Shah is another YouTuber and content creator. He has done podcasts and he has made a lot of content with his wife Dr Warisha who is also famous. The flawed portrayal of the elite class, along with poor styling and execution, is being severely criticized by fans and social media users. Many believe that the drama is a failed attempt by the makers to highlight mental health issues, as it comes across more like a comedy show. In several scenes, the heavy jewelry sets have become the center of attentionn. Fans are also unimpressed by the performances of Annie Zaidi, Srha Asghar, Kaif Ghaznavi, and Huma Nawab in key roles.
One fan wrote, “What a silly drama! It looks like robots are acting. Worst performances by all actors. Stupid execution. Worst episode ever.” Another commented, “Which part of Pakistan does this rich family belong to? Who wears such tacky clothes and jewelry?” Another user remarked, “These people are called ‘Nau Daultiya’—those who have recently become rich.” One fan wrote, “This is misfit casting. Except for Faisal Qureshi, Huma and Tauseeq don’t fit their roles. Phopho should be replaced.” Another said, “This drama might have gained more attention if there was no overacting of Phopho. I can’t tolerate her for even a second.” A fan shared, “Oh God, I can’t stop laughing. It’s another drama like Dil-e-Nadaan.” One viewer noted, “Huma Nawab doesn’t look rich at all. The wardrobe is very bad. No one in this family looks wealthy” Read the comments here:
There was another biggest blunder in Behroopia when Psychologist, played by Laila Wasti wrongly said, “No! I am a physciatrist, I can’t prescribe you the medicine. Medicines are prescribed by Psychologists” . Social media users are also criticizing the drama makers for not cross checking the script.
