Are you ready to witness the two heartthrobs together on the big screen? If yes! Then HUM TV productions bring you the handsome Hamza Ali Abbasi and the cool hunk Osman Khalid Butt in its upcoming venture “Parwaaz hay Junoon.”
According to the sources this upcoming film is a tribute to the Pakistani air force. The director of the film is Haseeb Hassan, who has previously directed dramas like Diyar -e- dil and Mann Mayal. He will be making his debut through this project. The writer of the film is the famous Farhat Ishtiaq.
The actors are super excited for acting in the film. Osman Khalid Butt shared with the media, “Not many people know that when I was 7 or 8 years old, I was quite the daredevil,” shared Osman of his childhood. “In [amusement park] rides, most people feel nauseated, but I used to feel thrilled. I remember this family came to my sister and told her that I should be a pilot. This thing stuck with me. I still remember the face of the man who said it.”
He continued, “When I grew up, the thrill turned into romanticism, like fighting for my country and soaring through the skies. Unfortunately, due to some circumstances, I’m an actor now. I could not become a pilot but I’m very grateful to the air force, to Hum Films, to Momina Duraid and especially Haseeb Hasan who gave me this opportunity.”
Hamza also shared his views, “There are very few chances for actors or media people to do something for their own country apart from entertaining them. And I think this one is those opportunities. This film is being made for a particular institute, but I think it’s an honor and privilege to be given this chance to show the face of the air force to the world.”
“Yesterday, I was attending a Defence Day program in Multan. Many families of our martyrs were present. We read or watch their stories, but when you meet with their families, we actually feel that they are real people, people [whose sacrifices allow us] to have press conferences in luxury hotels. I’m thankful to Sultana Aapa and Momina that they gave us a chance as an actor. We will definitely put our heart and soul in it.”
For the female lead role, Momina has not shared the details yet. According to Momina they will reveal the name of heroine next month. As they want viewers to share whom they want to see with Hamza and Osman. Apart from this main cast for keeping movie near to reality cast also include individuals form Pakistan Air force. The movie is based on real events of Pakistani air force and the major portion of revenue from the movie will be donated to the Pakistani air force.
The movie is expected to release on Eid –ul-Azha in 2017.

The Ramadan plays were able to become mega hits and the stars in these dramas became sensations. I know some people would take it as an immature way of tackling the situation but in my opinion, they are at least better than those who do nothing about it & show acceptance towards the boldness that Media throws at us. Hum Tv Ratings shoot to number one on Friday followed by most views on all the drama which surpassed big Indian channels like Sony Tv, Star plus, colours, colours rishtay the weekly rating was given by starbizAsia.
The main highlights of Hum Tv was ishq Zahe naseeb which got highest views followed by jaal and Kun Fayakun, (currently the changed name)

Ishq Zahe naseeb got 54,200 views, jal got 53,200 views and kun fayakun got 30,000 views which was actually a win win situation for Pakistani channel surpassing indian channels.

Moreover, Hum TV’s new efforts of paying a tribute to its hits of last year, Hum TV Awards are again one of the opportunities to bring more popularity to the channel.
It was seen few months back that the foreign content, namely the Turkish Dramas kept the showbiz industry busy with controversies against few channels. Many programs were conducted where the Pakistani Celebrities condemn the channels for promoting foreign content, leaving the rights and interests of the local artists, neglected. The Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) imposed a fine of Rs1 million on Hum TV for airing ‘objectionable content’.
The leading entertainment channel aired an episode titled ‘Chewing Gum’ for its drama series ‘Kitni Girhain Baqi Hain’ having objectionable and indecent content on January 29.
Due to the violation of Pemra clause, Hum TV has been fined Rs. 1 million, which is to be paid within 3 weeks of its issuance. PEMRA warned the channel to be careful while selecting the themes for its content and to consider the values and social norms of Pakistan.

This drama set the bar so high that many of the viewers who followed it religiously, couldn’t help but compare every good drama and performance with it. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi’s story was unusual, intriguing as well as thoroughly entertaining. Imran Ashraf and Iqra Aziz’s outstanding performances coupled with some of the most unique characters made Ranjha Ranjha Kardi an exceptional show which kept the viewers glued to their television screens. There are very few dramas which leave an everlasting impression and this was definitely one of them. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi gave the viewers some of the most memorable characters played superbly by few of the best actors of the Pakistani drama industry.
Khaas was one of the most popular Hum Tv dramas this year. When this drama started many people were under the impression that this was going to be yet another story of an abusive marriage. The drama did deal with this issue but in a really intelligent and refined manner. Khaas highlighted issues relating to marital abuse which were not run-of-the-mill and it did so effectively. The characterizations and performances stood out just as much as a script which was written down superbly. This was one of the most talked about dramas since it gave the viewers so much to reflect upon. Sanam Baloch, Ali Rehman, Hira Tareen and Haroon Shahid gave exceptional performances in this drama serial.
Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb offered a different storyline with few of the most brilliant performances by the leading actors in particular. It also has enough tracks, twists and turns to keep the viewers’ interest intact. Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb is the kind of drama which keeps the viewers hooked because the story has suspense and substance. Hashim Nadeem often comes up with original stories which are unlike any other and Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb is surely one of them. Zahid Ahmed’s performance in this drama has been hailed as one of the best performances of his career. Ishq Zah-e-Naseeb proved to be yet another feather in the cap of Hum Tv by being one of a kind murder, mystery and thriller.
Inkaar dealt with a sensitive topic and did so with great responsibility. The writer took inspiration from real-life incidents and did complete justice to a difficult script. Inkaar highlighted the importance of consent in a relationship and showed why some men find it impossible to respect women the way they deserve to be respected. Yumna Zaidi, Imran Ashraf, Sami Khan, Munazzah Arif and Rehan Sheikh’s performances in this drama gave it the edge it needed to stand out. The makers of Inkaar kept everything real and to the point without compromising on showing details which were important to make the viewers understand the characters and relate to the story. Inkaar was meaningful as well as engaging, definitely one of the best Pakistani dramas this year.
Anaa’s story was relatively simple in the beginning but it became complicated and more appealing as the drama moved forward. Anaa had a definite appeal. The new faces in this drama and solid performances from some of the more experienced actors made this drama interesting. Naimal Khawar and Usman Mukhtar’s on-screen chemistry made the viewers fall in love with their track. Hania Aamir’s portrayal was brilliant as usual, she made you feel for her character and kept your interest alive. Anaa was a nice break from some of the more heavy duty dramas, it was an entertaining play for the most part. This drama also explored relationships, the role ego plays in destroying relations and most importantly there were no black and white characters in this drama.

Suno Chanda 2 was a Ramazan special serial which was a sequel of a comic serial with the same name. Zara Noor Abbas,Ahad Raza Mir, Ahmed Ali Akbar and Wahaj Ali’s superb performances coupled with Saife Hasan’s skillful direction make this drama a must watch. Unlike other dramas directed by ISPR, this one does not focus wholly on the lives of the army men which is another refreshing change.

Hum TV is one of the leading channels of Pakistan. They paved their way to success by reviving the Pakistani dramas which were suffering during the mid 2000’s when everyone was watching Star Plus dramas. Hum TV is run by Sultana Siddique, Moomal Shunaid and Momina Duraid. These are three leading ladies that are behind every drama that goes into production under the banner of Hum TV.
In the last couple of decades, Hum TV has produced some superhit dramas and as a result, those dramas have given out some big names to the industry. Hum TV’s constant support has earned these actors massive popularity and star status. Among those stars, the biggest names are Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan. Although it is good to see Hum TV going out of the way to promote new talent but the precedent they are setting to achieve that is wrong on so many levels. Channel heads like Sultana Siddique and Momina Duraid have proved it time and again that they will do anything to please their favorite stars. The drama industry evolves but in the field of arts, newcomers learn the craft and skills from their seniors who have left behind their legacies. Hum TV has time and again proved that at the expense of senior and veteran actors, they will do what it takes to please the stars from their lobby.
These are the look at the two major incidents which show how Hum TV has disrespected the legends:
Badar Khalil And Fawad Khan (2014)
In 2014, Badar Khalil was invited to attend Hum Awards as she was receiving The Lifetime Achievement Award. After the function, she let everyone know how Sultana Siddiqui humiliated her, only to accommodate Fawad Khan. Badar Khalil clearly stated that it was not Fawad Khan’s fault to demand to be seated in the front row. According to Badar Khalil, she could hear Fawad Khan on the phone call to Sultana Siddique, where he told her that he will not attend the function if he will not be seated in the front row. Sultana Siddiqui asked Badar Khalil to vacant her seat and sit somewhere else. Badar Khalil left the award she had received on the seat and chose to walk out of the function. Badar Khalil left for Canada after this incident, but after she came back, she spoke to Faysal Qureshi in detail and explained what had happened. She stated again that it was not Fawad Khan’s fault, however it was the responsibility of Sultana Siddique to make sure to not hurt her or Fawad’s feelings. Badar Khalil said that Sultana Siddiqui’s daughter in law Momina Duraid was also seated next to her, but she didn’t ask her for a favor, rather told Badar Khalil to do so.
This entire statement of Badar Khalil sparked a debate back then and almost everyone came in support of Fawad Khan. Very few actors spoke in favor of Badar Khalil. She also compared the treatment she received when she got the same Lifetime Achievement Award from PTV. Badar Khalil has given 50 years to the industry but the owners of Hum TV made it very obvious that for them, the fresh talent was far more important than these of legends of the industry. No apologies were issued by Sultana Siddiqui to Badar Khalil. Sadaf Fawad claimed that everything that Badar Khalil told was a lie.
Firdous Jamal and Mahira Khan (2019)
In Faysal Qureshi’s show Salam Zindagi, Firdous Jamal shared his opinions about Mahira Khan and that sparked a huge controversy. A lot of actors like Asma Abbas, Gohar Rasheed, Mawra Hocane, Fahad Mustafa, Shehryar Munawwar, Humayun Saeed etc have spoken in favor of Mahira Khan and they all were of the opinion that being a senior actor, Firdous Jamal should not have passed such remarks about his junior. Mahira Khan didn’t say much but posted a hand-written letter where she spoke about spreading love. Mahira Khan got a good response for tackling this issue with maturity.
This entire controversy took an ugly turn when Momina Duraid of Hum TV shared her sentiments and clearly told that she was putting a ban on Firdous Jamal. According to Momina Duraid, she is ashamed of the fact that Firdous Jamal is a part of this fraternity and that he had no right to pass such regressive remarks about Mahira Khan. Momina Duraid has proved that for her, Mahira Khan is far more important and the amount of work Firdous Jamal has done over the past 45 years is not worth being respected for.
This statement by Momina Duraid has now sparked another debate and actors like Mishi Khan, Feroze Khan, Hamza Firdous are openly speaking against Momina Duraid. Mishi Khan has called it a mafia because for everyone this is unfathomable that based on an opinion of Firdous Jamal, his status and respect is being dragged down like this. People are also questioning that Mahira Khan spoke about spreading love but why is she not telling Momina Duraid to backtrack from her decision? In the past, celebrities like Nadia Khan and Veena Malik have also shared their opinion that they don’t see Mahira Khan as an amazing actor.
Hum TV is setting the wrong precedent. In this era of freedom of speech, the owners of Hum TV are making it very obvious that they will not hold back in disrespecting the seniors for their favorite actors. Being one of the leading channels of Pakistan, the owners of Hum TV also has a responsibility to maintain balance and neutrality. If they want to support or promote their favorite stars, they are free to do that but definitely not at the cost of disrespecting the legends who have given their entire life to Pakistani drama industry.
HUM TV has found itself in a lot of controversy lately. The news of celebrities leaving for Toronto right before the General Elections did not go down so well with the audience. Many people, including celebrities like Farhan Saeed and Imran Abbas, expressed their disappointment with such an irresponsible behavior shown by their fellow celebrities. Many people are blaming HUM TV for scheduling the Award Ceremony at such a time and they have decided to boycott HUM TV. This led to HUM TV issuing an official statement.

Hum TV awards were the most hyped event of the season but did the winners fit into our expectations? The event was grand and it had all the elements to impress the viewers. I am looking forward to see it on TV. Hum TV left no stone unturned to make the awards as splendid as possible, and you can see this by just looking at the pictures. Noor Ul Hasan was seen taking interviews of Celebs on the Red Carpet while Mahira Khan and Mikaal Zulfiqar were seen hosting the awards.
Many people were disappointed with the nominations when they were announced. But now the question is, did all the winners rightfully deserve the awards? I must say, I was shocked and a bit disappointed with a few winners. But, there were others that completely fit into my expectations. I will start with the awards that I felt were rightfully deserved:
The award for Best Model Male and Female were rightfully deserved by Ayyan Ali and Abbas Jaffri. Both of them are the current top rated models. Even the awards for Best Menswear and Best Women Wear were well deserved by Nomi Ansari and Deepak Parwani. These two are one of the biggest names of the fashion industry.
Now coming to the awards for the Television Dramas, Imran Aslam won the Best Actor Daily Soap Award and I think he truly deserved it. Imran Aslam is an underrated actor and now he is finally being appreciated for his talent. Another award I am very satisfied with is the Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role. Mohib Mirza did a very god job in Shehr e Zaat and he deserved the award. I am also really glad that Samina Peerzada won the award! I do not think anyone deserved it more than her. She got it for Roshan Sitara but I personally wanted her to get it for Shehr e Zaat. Her character was beautiful in that show and will always remain in my memory. The Award for Best Writer was perfect! There is no one more deserving than Umera Ahmed for this award. Umera Ahmed has given Hum TV some of its top plays like Malaal, Maat, Zindagi Gulzar Hai and Qaid e Tanhai. The award given to Shehryar Munawar and Sohai Abro for the New Television Sensation was again well deserved. These two new comers have won the hearts of the audiences in a very short time. Another award I was extremely happy about was the Best Actor in a Comic Role which went to the very deserving Uroosa Siddiqui. I am a big fan of her as she is a wonderful actress. She sure can make the audiences laugh!
Now moving on to my favorite award of the night! Mahira and Fawad won the Best Onscreen Couple Award that they rightfully deserved. This award was very predictable as Humsafar was not nominated elsewhere. But they made all the Humsafar fans happy by giving Humsafar ‘The Phenominal Series’ Award and it was given to the Humsafar team by Sultana Siddiqui herself. Another Award that was very unpredictable yet truly deserving was the ‘Special Recognition’ Award for Dastaan. I always believed that Dastaan was an underrated show and it definitely deserved this special award. Late Moin Akhtar was awarded with the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by none other than Anwar Maqsood to his family. No one else deserved this award more than him. Moin Akhtar will always have a very special place in all our hearts!
Nouman Ijaz as the Best Actor was satisfactory considering the other nominations. His performance in Bari Apa was outstanding! I do not know how to feel about Shehr e Zaat winning the Best Drama Award. It had a neck to neck competition with Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai and Maat and according to me, all three of these shows deserved the award. Fahad Mustafa winning the Award for the Best Host was quite predictable and I am glad that he won since he was not nominated anywhere else, and he did deserve some recognition.
Now coming to the awards that I was not satisfied with:
Mahira Khan as the Best Actor Female was very shocking indeed! She was good in Shehr e Zaat but she was no match for Saba Qamar in Maat or Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai. Rumour has it that Saba Qamar is unhappy about not getting the award despite two nominations. She sure deserved it! Mahira Khan herself was very shocked to get this award. Another shocking award was the Award for Best Director. Farooq Rind got this award for the show Sanjha. Seriously? What about the other directors of the popular shows like Maat, Yahan Pyaar Nahi Hai and Shehr e Zaat. I would have personally liked it if Sarmad Sultan Khoosat had won it for Shehr e Zaat because that show was directed brilliantly. Mere Qatil Mere Dildaar OST as the Best Orignal Song Tune was another shock. Out of all the beautiful OSTs, they chose to give it to this show. Very disappointing indeed!
I was surprised to see that the award for the Best Daily Soap went to Mujhe Roothne Na Dena when Nikhar Gaye Gulab Sare was more popular and deserving. Sumbul Iqbal as the Best Actor Female Soap was also surprising when the other nominations were just as talented. Now coming to the Music category, Shehzad Roy as the Best Solo Artist was surprising when other nominations included names like Hadiqa Kayani, Falak and Farhan Saeed. I personally think Hadiqa Kiyani was more deserving.
I am really looking forward to watch the awards as it is always interesting to see the reaction of all the winners. I am also looking forward to the performances by different celebrities like Ahsan Khan, Mehwish Hayat, Humaima Malik and Fahad Mustafa!
After little pause in the blowing air, HUM Awards are again successful to create a hype among the viewers of Pakistan’s Drama industry. It was only few days back that the channel announced its first official ceremony to pay a tribute to the leading dramas of the channel for the year 2012-2013. From the nominations to the results, the event seemed quite controversial where either the audience raised questions about the criteria been set for the nominations or the fact that the results were bias and no decisions of the audience were given respect.
It was also amusing to find that the event that took place on March 12th, took more than a month to actually get edited. It is now that the promos are been shown but the award ceremony is still under the label of “Coming Soon”. As predicted, the upcoming award show will become a tur turnover r the channel especially in regard of its ratings. The most awaited ceremony is now all over leaving the audience with a hope to watch the awards soon on the channel. As discussed yesterday, The Hum TV Awards ceremony which was held two days back in Karachi Expo Centre, is one of the most memorable nights for the celebrities who won an award for their performance in the year 2012, been affiliated with the HUM Network. It was though the last post I shared yesterday that I realized how the audience has taken this award ceremony, finding it a bias one where the nominations are found unsatisfactory by majority of the people. It was also seen that people are really talking about the fact that Fawad Khan was not even nominated as the best actor and Humsafar wasn’t there in the list when it came to the best drama of the year.

I know many people will disagree with me, call me mullah and what not but I am going to share my feelings about the recently held Hum TV awards any way. I also know that the media doesn’t care what people like me think because for them being “modern” is more important than being politically correct. Forget about the revealing dresses that our actresses wore because in their imagination they were attending a Hollywood event so they didn’t want to look any less modern than Angelina Jolie. The only difference is that when Angelina Jolie dresses up like that, she is dressing up according to her culture. But people living in “IslamicRepublic Of Pakistan” really should know better! Our media is getting too bold, many Pakistani dramas already should have a PGrating on them. Gone are the days when simple and entertaining family entertainment were in fashion. Nowadays, showing disgusting stories and get ups is in fashion.
All of you must have seen this picture of Javaid Sheikh and Bushra Ansari. Call me a mullah (again) but I find this picture VERYdisturbing. What kind of an example are these older celebrities setting for the newer ones? They are kissing and hugging on stage today, you can only imagine what would be happening next. What is even more worrying is that people have stopped criticizing things like this. We have accepted this modernization, which is actually deterioration of our culture and identity. Shouldn’t Pakistani artists represent the masses? or are they only there to represent the masses in the dramas. People who know nothing about Pakistan and know only this that this country was made in the name of Islam, must get very confused. On one side we have extremists giving an entirely different highly conservative image of Pakistan and on the other hand we have wanne-bes who blindly follow the West forgetting that they have an obligation towards the country that they live in and the people who gave them all this fame. Are we so ashamed of our own culture that we consider it an insult to wear our own cultural dresseson functions? These people look lost to me, they belong neither in Pakistan nor in any other country, what good is such modernization then? It is their short sightedness that makes them believe that kissing in public and wearing dresses (which they most often can’t even carry) can take this country forward in any way.
It is the duty of the media to represent their country and the culture that exists in the country. Do these awards in any way represent the people of Pakistan? How many people out there can relate to these people who make us laugh and cry on screen but have nothing in common with us off screen. If they are so ashamed of their culture, so impressed with foreign culture then they should not expect people to look up to them. A request to all our stars that please represent your country, that is the only way people will respect you. A request to Hum TV awards organizers, you have a duty to make sure that your awards represent the country which has given you so much love. Shalwar Kameez looks awesome and stylish , next time make it your dress code. A request to our senior artists, we respect you please don’t make us change our opinion about you by showing how misguided you are.
I hope that we realize that there can be entertainment without vulgarity. I am boycotting the Hum TV awards because that is the least I can do.
Well, here’s the status update of Ali Gul Pir’s manager, who happens to be spreading the word about what happened with Ali Gul Pir & his team at the award’s night. All I know is that from the past few months I have read a million posts related to “Saeen & Saeen ka stuff” but just because I am not connected to Pakistani channels 24/7, I had no idea who the mastermind was behind this concept? I went through this Facebook post & searched about this person & it was amazing to know that he is a person who has produced such songs which have hit a million views on YouTube within the first few days of publishing.
Clearly, not everyone in this industry earns a name & fame on a decorated platter & have to work hard. Some people are only left with a bad taste in their mouth because of the recognition that authorities fail to give to such people in particular. It’s just a matter of your on-screen presence & about what actually sells, that’s it. Deviating away from the topic of the post, I’d like to mention that we see so many dramas go unnoticed & fail to get the acknowledgement they deserve, same is the case with these artists as well. Fit yourself according to their standards & it pays off but if anyone does something on their own, they do not get praised & are blatantly ignored.
So here’s the inside story, updated as a status from the Ali Gul Pir’s team:
“Unprofessionalism at the HUM TV awards!!!!
What happened at the 1st first Hum Tv awards last night was not a show of grandeur or splendor but the display of utmost unprofessionalism and irresponsiblility by the one of the biggest networks of Pakistan. My friend/artist Ali Gul Pir was nominated for “Best new sensation-music” category and had been called a dozen times to confirm his presence at the ceremony. Despite suffering from an acute stomach infection he and his team went to the Hum TV awards only to realize that the organizers have skipped the category.What was funnier was that they didn’t even “realize” that they had skipped the category untill I personally went back backstage .Maimoona Siddiqi the GM programming HUM TV along with a very senior producer Ather Waqar Azeem was busy noticing the perfection of Fahad Mustafa’s “thumkas” on an LCD. Without causing a lot of commotion I had barely introduced my self as Ali Gul Pir’ manager when she said “Sorry, Beta youre too late”. Perhaps she knew why I was there as she humbly silenced my inquiry into ignorance, I waited. When I thought I had been as professional as on could be when on the recieveing end of himiliation I finally said “Agar aap logon ko yahi karna tha,tau aap bulatay hee nahin, he is not feeling and has been waiting for more then three hours now” and she replied ” haan theek hai theek hai..I can’t help its been skipped”. I was not worried that Ali didn’t win a award or couldnt give an acceptance speech or something because for someone whose video has been watched almost 5million times within 5 months of release, no trophy was worth it. I was dissaopinted that Ali came to the awards because he respected their courtesy to call him at such an occasion but left right after my talk with Maimoona because respect, professionalism and courtesy becomes insignificant for the organizers as soon as their seats are filled. If these are the people who run the show of our entertainment industry and this is the way to behave then we are glad that we left the occasion and will make sure we don’t commit this mistake again.After suffering through their unpressionalsim I was reminded of the way we used to rehearse for the ZAB FILM FEST at my university.We as students displayed more maturity and professionalism as comepared to such a big network. Not once in the two festivals we organized was there something as disrespectful or unprofessional. There is also another moment of relaization for all of the young artistses like us out there;new comers are not respected in this industry , make a mark for yourself as Ali did and don’t expect the industry to support you but expect it from the your viewers and fans,people who accepted and recognized you as you were. We still owe them a lot.

Mahira Khan explained the eight years of Hum TV in the following words, “khawateen o hazrat aj se aath saal pehle Hum TV nay apne aik aisekhandan ka aghaz kiya jis ki bunyadei hamari saqafat, ikhlaqiat aur qadron pur rakhi gayee” …kash ke in qadron ka khayal yeh function organize karwate huve bhi rakha jata. To be honest Hum Tv really is one of my most favorite channels because they provide their viewers with quality entertainemnt but it would have been so much better if all the ikhlaqiat and qadrein were kept in mind while organizing the award show as well. The award show undoubtedly was a very grand affair and it was very well planned too. The only problem with the show was that all the naacha gaana on the Bollywood tunes seemed entirely out of place in a function that was meant to celebrate eight years of a Pakistani channel. I gladly fast forwarded the scenes with all the dances and still found the function equally entertaining. Why are our functions incomplete unless we dance on a few (very cheap) Bollywood tunes? Pakistani music has a lot of variety and we have some great tracks and live performers who can entertain the audience and the viewers just as much so why do we blindly follow India? When Mahira Khan came on the stage it almost felt like she had left half of her dress at home. Mahira is such a pretty lady; she would look just as prettier without showing so much skin. The good part was that she had learned her lines well and so had Meekaal but the jokes were very bland and mostly failed to make me laugh. The Joke about Sarmad Khoosat and Umera Ahmed facebook wars was the most funny of all the jokes.
Mehwish Khan and Ahsan Hayat’s dance performance was very shocking; I used to be a big fan but not anymore. It seemed like these people who were trying so hard to look like the actors and actresses from across the border appeared to be a bunch of wannabes and utterly disappointed me. Humaima’s dance performance seemed like an item number. I only watched it for two minutes and very soon realized that it was not worth wasting time on. What was even more disappointing and upsetting was that so much effort had been put into this awards function and overall the categories, hosting and editing was wonderful but the actors dancing to Bollywood tunes turned this award function into anything else but a family affair. I could see the embarrassment on the faces of some of the old actors who are more conservative while these vulgar dance performances were going on. What are we trying to show to the world? Maybe that we are very modern but in showing that we forget to represent the Pakistani people, the real people. I am sure many people from across the border watched this function and laughed and probably thought Pakistanis had no identity of their own because it did look like an Indian style function with Pakistani faces. This function did not represent the viewers at all who are the ones who were going to watch the show and watch the plays that air on the channel.
Watching such awards makes me wonder that is there a dearth of good singers or songs in Pakistan or we have made up our mind that if we do not follow in the footsteps of India we will not be cool enough. So what if we appear like total fools in the process. Watching this award function should have left me with a feeling of pride but it didn’t because I can only feel proud if I see my own talent and culture being promoted. It wasn’t a surprise that Anwar Maqsood made a shot appearance and left, he probably could not take it all just like any loyal Pakistani who has invested his whole life to promoting what truly represents Pakistan.
Fahad Mustafa, besides Hamayun Saeed was the only person who performed on Pakistani songs other than that all the other actors and actress appeared to be crazy Bollywood buffs. Why do Katrina Kaif or Kareena Kapoor and other Indian actress have to be part of jokes in our shows? Ramadan dramas always bring new talent to the forefront and people simply love to watch these light-hearted stories with some great talent filled in. Hum Tum was such a drama when many stars became household names. Fans loved Ramsha Khan-Ahad Raza Mir and Sarah Khan-Junaid Khan’s fresh pairings and they also loved the whole supporting cast. We also got two new starlets Aina Asif and Anoosheh Rania from the same drama.
Anoosheh Rania Khan was from the girls camp and sister to Sarah Khan and Ramsha Khan. She brought a lot of laughter and cuteness to her character and people loved her. She was an instant hit as well and we have seen her in other advertisement campaigns since then. Anoosheh Rania was blessed to perform her first ever Umrah and she shared some beautiful clicks with her fans:
Hum Tum is this year’s blockbuster Ramadan drama. It introduced some young faces to people and Aina Asif who played Maliha aka Millie was one of them. Aina played a very out of the box character of a girl fond of boxing. People loved Millie’s bond with her brothers nd Aina got a lot of appreciation for her character.
Aina Asif started her career as a model and she did a photoshoot recently with fresh face of makeup and tied up hair. Here is the picture of her look:
People however, were not impressed by the look and trolled the artist:
Hum TV always manages to bring a better idea just after a good one ends. Hum Tehray Gunaahgar is its next drama which tends to attract a decent viewership partly because of its cast and partly because of its story. The story of this new serial revolves around the lives of the Zakaria family. The character of Zakaria is portrayed as a rich businessman who is wealthy enough to adopt two children, though he had his. His wife Aisha is diagnosed cancer which changes their lives completely.
This drama seems to have adopted the famous onscreen name ‘Zaroon’ for its lead role where Zaroon is shown as an adopted child who falls in love with a girl named Malaika. Their secret marriage further gives the Zakaria family a serious blow where Aisha lands up taking a decision which becomes the turning point of their lives.
The cast of the drama includes Danish Taimoor, Farhan Ali Agha, Jia Ali, Anushay Abbasi, Mansha Pasha, Ushana Hawala, Sara Khan and Mohsin Gillani in lead roles.

Hum Style Awards this year had a lot of looks which were not understandable. Celebrities were invited to honour style and fashion in the entertainment industry. Many big names attended the event but most of them did not properly read the invitation. They mistook Humm Style Awards for some space exhibition and came at the event alien inspired outfits and styling. Some of them also wanted to just get it over with and didn’t put any effort and some thought of it as a good opportunity to use all the available cosmetics at once on their faces. Here is a list of worst dressed celebrities at Hum Style Awards 2017. Have a look:
Syra Shehroze:
Nothing about her outfit and styling was right. An orange suit with some weird cuts and loud makeup is not something that would look good on anyone. This was definitely inspired by aliens since only someone from far future will think of this scientific piece as stylish. Syra never disappoints at red carpets but this time she mixed all her bad wardrobe pieces and wore them to this event. The hairstyle does not suit her either.
Ali Rehman Khan:
Ali wanted to match his outfit with the background designs of the venue or maybe he is a fan of “Do not cross” tapes because these can only be two scenarios which can explain Ali’s outfit. The yellow lines on the sides of his pants made the suit even more ridiculous. See:
Sadaf Kanwal:
This is not just about the sari being extremely bold. The thing is it is just not right. Sunita too wore a revealing sari but Sadaf’s outfit made me wonder what she was thinking while choosing it. The blouse looks tacky and does not go with the whole outfit and her sleek back hair are too sleek back. This outfit would have topped the worst dressed list if I had made it in the least to most bad order.
Saheefa Jabbar Khattak:
Saheefa is known for being rebellious and making a statement but this was not a statement from any angle.The blazer did not go with the dress at all. It looked like she just wore anything because she wanted to get the event over with as soon as possible or maybe she was trying to make a statement again. But honestly, it did not work. Saheefa can certainly do better than this.
Mira Sethi:
This dress looks like an advertisement for building blocks children play with and that black tutu thing is for what, I am not sure but this dress was a disaster. Mira has a sleek frame and she could have rocked a normal gown easily. Her hair is not even properly brushed. This is another example of an experiment gone wrong.
Mawra Hocane:
Mawra’s dress is good to wear for a friend’s birthday party but not on an award event meant to appreciate style. The worst thing about Mawra’s look is hair and makeup. Her hair looks like they were blow dried in the wrong direction and her makeup is too smoky to look good with the outfit she opted. Another bad choice.
Urwa Hocane:
Urwa’s dress is too shiny to look good.Moreover, the flower pads on her shoulder make the dress look even worse. Urwa actually looked like a fruitcake which is loaded with every fruit of the season and then the fruits start spilling due to overload. Looks like Hocane sisters didn’t put much effort this time in their styling.
Nausheen Shah:
Another space shuttle inspired dress. Nausheen looked really bad in this and the shaggy hair look didn’t suit her at all. I can’t understand the thought behind this outfit because Nausheen is beautiful and she should have worn something that made her stood out or maybe she didn’t have time for styling either.
Nadia Hussain:
Nadia Hussain is probably trying to make a record of wearing worst dresses and opting bad styling at different events. This silk dress looks less like an evening gown and more like a nightgown. The makeup is too nude to work for a gown which is also nude in colour. She ended up looking colourless and bad.
Ainy Jaffri:
Ainy’s hair and makeup are on point and make her look fresh and pretty but things had to go wrong when Ainy decided to wear a bed sheet. Her gown actually looked like she has wrapped a bed sheet around her. Her accessories were pretty and her otherwise styling was phenomenal but her dress was meh.
Saba Qamar:
The dress was not bad but it did not work for Saba. Her makeup was off too. Maybe some bold makeup would have made this dress look nice. This overall nude look made Saba look zombie-ish and colourless. Not a dress to wear to Style awards. Maybe the same gown in some other colour would have worked but this one is a no-no.

Hum Style Awards were conducted last night in Karachi. These awards are meant to celebrate the sense of fashion and style in the industry and include all the sub-branches like modelling, acting and singing. Many celebrities attended the event and tried to look unique and different. Naturally, each of them wanted to be the best or maybe get noticed. The experiments for many of the celebs, however, turned out to be disasters but some of them actually looked good. Here are some of the celebrities that looked nice and knew the meaning of “Style Awards”.
Ayesha Omer:
Ayesha Omer was hands-down the queen of the best dressed last night. She wore a beautiful burgundy gown which complimented her skin-tone and her styling was up to the mark too. Her loose curls and dangling earrings made her look complete and she looked like the ultimate fashionista she is.
Sunita Marshal:
Sunita wore a black net sari which complimented her figure and height. Nets are always a good choice since they rarely go wrong. Same was Sunita’s case as she looked beautiful and her black bangles and silver earrings with a hair up-do totally completed the look.
He was wearing a simple maroon tux which landed him on this list because many other male celebrities were trying to make themselves like some space movie characters with strange patterns on their suits or maybe they forgot it was Hum Style Awards event and not met gala. Ahad on the other side kept everything sleek and decent. He also looked different as he opted for a colour other than traditional black but still kept things low and decent.
Madiha Imam:
Madiha looked beautiful in this green number. Madiha is petite and the fact that she realized it and kept her accessories and makeup minimal made her looked innocent and pretty. She was one of the best-dressed celebrities of the night. The colour complimented her and her makeup in nude shades was a cherry on the top.
Sajal Aly:
Sajal opted for a white gown with frills falling from all sides. Her dress was not “very beautiful” but her hair and makeup made her look extremely pretty. White is a colour which suits Sajal a lot and it worked this time too. With other celebrities trying to look rock band guitarists, Sajal opted simplicity and looked pretty.
Kanwar Arsalan and Fatima Effendi:
The couple came out in cream toned outfits and looked lovely. Fatima’s outfit showed that how you can manage to look stylish and beautiful in eastern outfits too. Her sleeves were a statement and made the length of her shirt looked chick and stylish while keeping the overall look decent. Kanwar also looked dapper in his suit paired with pattern tie.
Shaneira Akram:
Shaneira rarely goes wrong with her outfit and styling. Last night she wore a black gown with cape style sleeves and looked ethereal. Her earrings brought an oomph to otherwise a simple black gown and made her land on the best-dressed list.
Feroze Khan:
Feroze Khan opted a simple black suit. Black suits rarely go wrong and Feroze was able to pull off this look extremely well. He looked dapper and handsome. He also won an award for best-dressed actor television male and with his look at the event, he justified his win by looking stylish and handsome.
Alishba Yousuf:
Alishba showed up in a vine coloured simple gown. She kept the styling and accessories minimal which complimented her choice of outfit. The dress looked pretty and comfortable and the way she styled herself by also keeping the comfort factor in mind made her look elegant. And yes Alishba was the only Yousuf sister who looked nice last night.
Hareem Farooq:
Hareem also looked good in a two-toned gown. Hareem has lost a lot of weight and now she usually opts for cuts that can show her newly acquired figure. This time too she went for similar kind of dress and she looked nice. Her hairstyle also complimented the overall look. It was a good choice for her to ditch her normal style of loose strands.
Amna Ilyas:
Amna was probably the only model other than Sunita who looked nice. She wore a simple black form-fitting gown. Her sandals and hairdo were the best parts about her overall styling and look. Her on the point highlight and minimal makeup made her look beautiful.
Hamza Ali Abbasi:
Hamza knows how to mix tradition with style. He always makes a statement at such events and pulls off his looks with grace and style. This time too he was able to grab the attention in his eastern greyish green attire.

Hum Style Awards is another ceremony started by Hum Network and it recognizes people on the basis of their style essence. Be it television, films or sports, Hum Style Awards include all of these based on their style. Here are the nominations for the ceremony:
Hum Style Awards were held last night in Karachi. Many A-list celebrities were missing from the event but many stars attended it too. People tried to look ‘different’ and a lot of unique styling was seen on the red carpet. Many stars performed at the awards night including Ahsan Khan, Syra Shehroze and Atif Aslam. Hum Style Awaards 2024 are all set to air soon on Hum TV. The nominations are already out and different categories have some of the most famous celebrities in them. The public can vote for their favourite stars while the rehearsals for the original event are going on in full swing. Hum Style Awards 2024 will be full of dance performances as well as music as some of the stars spoted rehearsing are Aima Baig, Bilal Saeed and Faris Shafi while Mamya Shajaffar was practicing her dance steps alongside Shuja Asad and Khaqan Shahnawaz.
