Amitabh Bachchan, born as Inquilaab Srivastava, is an Indian film actor, film producer, television host, occasional playback singer and former politician. He is regarded as one of the greatest actors in the history of Indian cinema. He was called one-man industry. In a career spanning more than 5 decades, he has appeared in more than 200 films. Jaya Bachchan is a well-known Indian actress and politician. She was born as Jaya Bhaduri on April 9, 1948, in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh. Jaya was born in a Bengali Brahmin family. Her father, Taroon Kumar Bhaduri, was a famous author, poet, stage artist and a journalist. Her mother was Indira Bhaduri. Jaya is the eldest of the three sisters. One of her sisters, Rita Verma, is married to actor Rajeev Verma. Her sisters call her Didibhai.
Education and Career
Jaya Bachchan did her schooling from St. Joseph’s Convent School, Bhopal. She was an eminent student. Jaya was bestowed with Best All-India N.C.C. Cadet Award all through 1966’s Republic Day celebrations. She started her career at the age of 15, with the Bengali Cinema. She joined Film and Television Institute of India, Pune and graduated with a gold medal. She made her debut in the Bollywood with the film Guddi. She acted with Amitabh Bachchan as the female lead for the first time in the film Bansi Birju. Her last film as a lead actress was Silsila in 1981, after which she took a long break of 14 years from the glamor world. She took this time to spend with her family. In 1988, she wrote the story of the super hit block buster film Shahenshah. She made a comeback with her husband in 1995 in a Marathi film. Afterwards, Jaya has appeared as a supporting actor in several hit movies, notably, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Kal Ho Na Ho, Desh and Laga Chunari Men Daag. She was elected four times as the Member of Parliament from the Samajwadi Party, representing Uttar Pradesh in the Rajya Sabha. She has earned a long list of accolades, including national and international awards, notably Padma Shri and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
