Inkaar Episode 13 Story Review – Emotional
Inkaar is getting better with every passing episode and even though we have seen plenty of dramas covering similar scenarios (rich vs. the not so rich victims) but in my opinion there can never be enough dramas which highlight the plight of girls like Hajra. Tonight’s episode belonged to Hajra’s father; the way he has stood by his daughter and finds it impossible to forgive and forget, continues to be the best part of this drama. The writer did a commendable job of laying down the perfect foundations for the upcoming events in the previous few episodes. Even when Hajra and her father didn’t have a lot of scenes together, their relationship was always special. The turn Shayan’s character took was unexpected but given the circumstances, his confusion makes perfect sense. This episode had many emotional and insightful conversations which were penned down beautifully. The performances yet again were impressive and just like every other drama directed by Kashif Nisar, this one too has a definite flow.
The Pressures & The Challenges
This episode opened with a conversation which highlighted Hajra’s father’s limitations and how difficult it was for him to register an FIR with the police. This problem is faced by many people in this situation therefore one which is relatable for anyone who reads or watches the news on regular basis. The societal pressures are yet another reason why people like Hajra’s father most often choose to stay silent. Taking a stand against the rich and powerful is tough and the consequences are unimaginable. Even though Hajra’s mother and brother told him to stay quiet, he decided to go to the police. We definitely need to see more such fathers in our dramas. The ‘log kya kahenge’ conversation was well written and acted out. It highlighted the insensitive side of our society in the most apt manner possible. Rehan Sheikh and Yumna Zaidi’s on-screen chemistry has definitely added more life to their characters and relationship.
Even though Hajra is not well and she knows she needs to stay in the hospital longer but she kept on reassuring her parents that she was well enough to go home. Hajra always felt extremely guilty for trusting Rehan Chaudhry even when no one knew what had transpired between them and now that everyone knows about it, she feels more guilty than ever. Hajra’s helplessness and her attempts to ‘console’ her parents even though she is the one who needs more consolation than anyone else, makes you like her character and feel for her even more.
As soon as Hajra’s father went to the police, the attitude of the hospital staff changed instantly. The way Hajra’s father tried to reason out with the doctor and the manner in which the doctor told him off was extremely heart wrenching. These were the kind of scenes that make you think about all such people who face all these challenges and most of them eventually give up. The way such people are denied their basic rights is extremely sad.
Shayan fell for the lie his father told him but I am hoping that his mother will make him understand that Hajra would never do something like that. Sami Khan did not get a lot of screen time tonight but his performance was powerful enough to leave an impact. Shayan has been through a lot in these 2 days or so and now it is almost as if he cannot even think straight. Rehan Chaudhry’s scenes once again showed why he is so spoiled and so used to having his way. The scene with his ‘girlfriend’ showed that he was feeling guilty but people around him were constantly telling him that he didn’t need to feel bad. The environment is Rehan’s house shows how he must have been brought up and the writer has shown convincingly why he turned out to be such a twisted person. Imran Ashraf makes you hate Rehan just as easily as he made us fall in love with Bhola. He makes sure he conveys every little emotion perfectly. Even the actor who played the doctor’s role, did so well. Every single actor acted brilliantly tonight and I am impatiently waiting for someone Hajra’s father can lean on. Yumna Zaidi’s realistic portrayal has been beyond impressive since she completely looks the role.
Final Remarks
Inkaar is one of my favorite dramas nowadays, it is yet another masterpiece by Kashif Nisar. Zafar Mairaj’s soul-stirring dialogues tonight made this episode truly emotional. Really looking forward to the next episode and rooting for Hajra and her father already.

Bilal Abbas Khn has just given strong performances in Balaa and Cheekh. Sohai Ali Abro won the hearts of millions with her performance in Motorcycle Girl and the girl is all set to get back with a drama based on acid attack victims.

Ranjha Ranjha Kardi Last Episode – Story Review
This last episode of Ranjha Ranjha Kardi belonged to Bhola – Imran Ashraf – one of those very few characters and actors who can make you laugh and cry at the same time. Bhola’s innocence, his love for his dulhan and in the end the strong message the writer gave was absolutely brilliant. We all need acceptance as well as love and Bhola too needed just that, someone who would accept and love him for who he was. The reassurance from his dulhan in the last scene was the best part of this last episode. The first half of this episode was action packed and phenomenal, the second half focused entirely on Bhola and Noori – how he got better and ultimately these two lived happily ever after.
While it was truly gratifying watching Bhola and Noori live a happy life together, the fact that Nusrat’s end was not shown at all and he got away with everything was the most disappointing aspect of this last episode. The wrong medication he had been giving Bhola for all these years led to making Bhola’s condition worse yet he did not get the punishment he deserved. The fact that he supported Noori in the end was simply not enough to make up for all his wrongdoings. Apart from giving Bhola the wrong medications, he was also constantly stealing Fehmida’s money. Also, Komal’s reaction after she found out what her father had been doing for all these years was not convincing at all since she always had a special place in her heart for Bhola. How could she forgive her father so easily? I have to say that I am disappointed with how some of the tracks were handled in this last episode. In the end Fehmida was completely out of the picture too. Sahir’s ending wasn’t satisfying either, he deserved worse than not getting his hands on the money. We watched all these characters viciously plot and plan against Bhola for weeks but in the end it seemed like Noori was the only one who truly needed to redeem herself. I would have loved to see Fehmida kick Nusrat out, Noori taking over the family business and making sure Sahir’s future was bleak. I never even imagined that Nusrat would be living under the same roof with this family in the end.
Overall Impression of The Play
Overall Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was entertaining and emotionally impactful with some of the most well established characters with depth and meaning, they also always had a clear goal, which made their journeys relatable as well as engaging. The character development in this drama had to be its biggest strength. Ranjha Ranjha Kardi was the perfect example of a drama which is both plot and character driven. Right from the get-go Noori wanted respect and a status because she never felt a sense of belonging towards her family. Her motivation throughout was a better future even when she was going through the most difficult times, she remained practical because of this aspect of her character.
Bhola’s innocence, his vulnerability and most importantly his challenges made the human element of his character stand out. Bhola’s character gave a definite identity to all such people who face similar challenges yet they are most often not even treated as living and breathing humans with feelings. Bhola’s dialogues and this character will not be forgotten anytime soon. This drama showed in the most engaging manner possible how these people who are very different from others are more sensitive than most of us and they also need love. The most important lesson in this drama was that you should never trust anyone with special needs children since they are highly vulnerable. Fehmida’s superstition and her over-reliance on Nusrat was the main reason why Bhola did not get the protection or medical care he needed to get better. Like many other dramas written by Faiza Iftikhar, this one too had the most dynamic supporting characters which constantly added something tangible to the story. There wasn’t a single unnecessary character in this play and it was highly impressive how all these characters were given sufficient screen time (with the exception of Komal who definitely deserved more screen time in the last few episodes in particular). Fehmida too should have been given more screen time in this last episode. A few dialogues about her grandson would have been perfect. The way Sahir kept the viewers guessing for the longest time was absolutely amazing.
The Performances
Imran Ashraf is a phenomenal actor but this had to be one of his best performances. He owned his character completely and yet again proved that no character can ever be too challenging for him. His outstanding performance definitely deserves recognition in the form of an award. I am going to be honest, when I found out that Iqra Aziz was going to be playing the protagonist in this drama, I wasn’t too sure if she will be able to deliver. I must say now that she absolutely nailed her character and left me in awe of her remarkable performance. Noori’s journey had so many ups and downs yet Iqra Aziz translated every single emotion superbly on screen. I am sure her honest and effective performance has won her many fans. Asma Abbas deserves tons of praise for bringing out the best in her character. Even though Fehmida, just like all the other characters, was never perfect but she was always likable. Asma Abbas’ performance was a mix of innocence and grace which was remarkable. Also, all these actors had such amazing on-screen chemistry which made their performances even more rewarding. Syed Jibran did exactly what he was expected to and made his character intriguing. Right from his first scene, you couldn’t be sure if Sahir was genuine or not. He made every scene count and did complete justice to his character. Ammara Butt’s performance too was on point throughout. Munazzah Arif is another actress who always performs well and her dialogue delivery in particular is superb. Kashif Mahmood is the only actor who went overboard a few times and his dialogue delivery wasn’t always natural. Zaib Rehman’s character had a lot to offer and her performance throughout was nuanced.
Noor-ul-Hassan was extremely convincing as Shoka; he never ceases to impress the viewers. Ismat Iqbal (Noori’s mother) and the actor who played Noori’s father’s role also gave realistic performances. All the other characters who were part of Noori’s life before she got married to Bhola, played their role exceptionally well which is why this drama held the interest of the viewers right from the start.
Final Remarks
This drama showed how a well written script and a skillful director can bring out the best in the actors. Faiza Iftikhar and Kashif Nisar gave the viewers a drama they will not forget for a really long time even though the ending was somewhat incomplete. This has been an amazing journey and I would like to thank all those wonderful people who read the reviews every week and commented here, I appreciate your feedback and look forward to it. Meer Abru Episode 17 Story Review – Brilliant
Opening Thoughts – Fast Paced:
Ohkay so, this episode of Meer Abru was intense & beyond brilliant. Let me take a second to digest the fact that we are getting to see a Pakistani drama which is so fast paced because usually when some big secret is revealed, the next 20 episodes are dedicated to incessant crying of all the characters, side characters, gardeners, servants, drivers, neighbours & relatives but I am pleasantly & ecstatically surprised that in Meer Abru, the story is progressing so efficiently. Props to the entire team of Meer Abru for giving us such a brilliant & well-executed drama.
Meer Saved The Day:
This episode covered one of the most important & defining curves of the story & the director made sure to make it intense & packed with emotions. Firstly, Ahmad finally found out the reason behind Haya’s suicide attempt. I felt bad for Ahmad because he did everything to raise his daughters with right values & standards but Haya defied everything that Ahmad had taught her. Ahmad was already perplexed because he had absolutely no idea about the reason behind Haya’s irrational behaviour but once he found out, he couldn’t help resort to an extreme measure where he wanted her out of his home. Abru has to be the best thing that had happened to Haya & she should be thankful to Abru for guarding her & doing everything to keep her protected.
Saim not only believed Abru & Haya but he also tried to come to a conclusion because he wanted Waleed to take responsibility for everything. Saim did the best he could but he obviously was finding it hard to convince everyone because he had no solid evidence to prove that the Nikkah took place. Saim’s decision of bringing Ahmad to his place was a smart move, even though no one at that point believed Ahmad but they were forced to think about it for a while. The way Saim goes out of the way for Abru has to be the best thing about their relationship, it is like he leaves Abru speechless that there is a man in her life who happens to be so selfless & compassionate.
Meer came along & saved the day. Meer is a man of his words, he promised Waleed that he’ll save him if he will never get involved in something shady but now when he found out the truth, he made sure to do right by Haya, Abru & everyone because Waleed was at mistake. Waleed was winging it till now because he believed no matter what happens, Meer will continue to support him, this thing kind of put Zaibi’s heart to ease too because so far she was making the most of the rage that Meer had towards Abru, but not anymore. Even though in front of everyone Zaibi made sure to support Waleed & brush what he did under the carpet but it was actually good to see her questioning Waleed in private & feeling disgusted at how low he stooped. Just like everyone else, even Zaibi could not believe that Waleed could do something like this but then she had a bigger problem with the fact that Waleed was coming under the radar because of a girl who happens to be Abru’s sister. After seeing how everyone was now coming to stand by Haya & protect her, it was obvious to Zaibi that her position weakened whereas Abru’s strengthened.
Abru & Meer’s conversation was about Waleed & Haya but the underlying feelings were about something else. Abru once again spoke about how Meer should have trusted her before but then, they weren’t meant to be together, at least for now. Meer is suffering the most but he found it in his heart to do the right thing, even if it meant that he had to do something that was in Abru’s favour. Meer is madly in love with Abru & it makes me feel for him. I liked that Saim took this opportunity also to make Abru understand that she could trust him & that he had no issues with her & Meer’s interactions because he has come to terms with the fact that they both live under the same roof so they are bound to have some conversations.
Closing Thoughts – Beyond Brilliant:
Overall, this episode was superb. I love the way the story is unfolding at such a perfect pace. I must say, I liked Noor Hassan’s acting before in Abroo & now in Meer Abru, he has outdone himself, so I guess he really should appear in all those dramas that have the word Abru in the title because he is on top of his game in Meer Abru. Noor Hassan especially was phenomenal in this episode followed by all the actors especially Saad Qureshi. Srha Asghar has also succeeded in putting across Haya’s heart break convincingly. I love the equation Abru, Sana & Haya share with each other. I guess I’ve got nothing else to say but just that I absolutely love watching Meer Abru & it is my favorite drama. I am gutted that we got single episode this week, hope after Ramadan they go back to the usual air time Please share your thoughts about this episode of Meer Abru.

Khaas Episode 7 Story Review – Improvement
Opening Thoughts – Improvement:
Ohkay so, this episode of Khaas was definitely better than the previous episodes. I like the subtlety with which the tension between Ammar & Saba was shown – this is the kind of execution was what I have been saying a Sarwat Nazeer script deserves. I am glad things were kept subtle but still everything was getting pretty obvious which was nice to see!
Saba Spoke Up:
Saba gave Ammar a taste of his own medicine when she made fun of him in front of his cousins but Ammar being Ammar couldn’t take it. The fact is that everything with Ammar is absolutely wrong & it is Saba who has to deal with it because other than her, everyone around Ammar feels he is this perfect human being without any flaws. Ammar confronted Saba but he sounded so irrational because of his double standards. Ammar wants Saba to put up with everything that he throws at her but when it comes to him, he won’t take anything.
In this episode, I liked the fact that Saba started voicing her disagreement & she started speaking up to Ammar. It obviously led to even more rift between the two but then again, it is important for Saba to get that message across to Ammar that she won’t settle for his mistreatment to make him feel better or superior. Ammar obviously has a lot of ingrained personality issues which slowly & steadily Saba is getting to see but everyone around him thinks everything about Ammar is perfectly fine. Another aspect which I liked in this episode was that Sonia started to see the problem in Ammar & she could sense that something was definitely not right. Even though Sonia didn’t put much mind to it but she could see how Ammar belittled Saba every chance he got. I hope later it is Sonia who knocks sense into him but it will be difficult since he is the kind of person who fails to see an issue within himself!
Saba scored a good GPA & Ammar made sure to bring her right back to the ground. Even in that moment Ammar couldn’t find it in his heart to just appreciate or be simply happy for Saba. It seems he is in this constant competition with Saba where he wants to prove it to her & everyone who thinks she is capable, that he is better than her. Ammar is not someone who’d build someone up in fact he believes in tearing others down to prove that he is superior in every way. Ammar not only stripped Saba of her happiness, he immediately ordered her to go to the kitchen, it was the most degrading way he could resort to in order to crush her dreams. Ammar has now made it an issue of his ego that he has to oppress Saba & not allow her to fulfil her dreams because it would mean that Saba will get to prove herself even professionally which Ammar won’t be able to handle. The way Ammar constantly kept telling everyone about how incapable Saba was basically a way to let her know & feed it to her that she can not do anything special in her life!
It is unfortunate that Ammar’s mother Kanwal expects & wants Saba to put up with Ammar’s atrocities in the name of marriage. Kanwal knows Ammar but she is either in denial or is just failing to accept the fact that she has failed at parenting Ammar the right way. Ammar’s father does seem reasonable but then it looks like he’s not got much say in the household matters. Sonia is now turning out to be a wise & mature person who was doing the damage control as she could see what Ammar was doing wasn’t right. This episode definitely made me change my mind about Sonia, hope out of all the people in the in laws, she turns into a support system for Saba.
Closing Thoughts – Better Execution:
This episode of Khaas was definitely better than the previous episodes. It is good to see a shift in Saba’s character. The relation that Saba shares with her father continues to be the highlight of this story. Saba’s mother on the other hand is turning out to be an eyesore. Acting of everyone has been good & the direction seemed better this time around may be because everything was kept subtle & not too overly explained, which was nice. Aangan Episode 24 Story Review – New Beginnings and Sad Endings
Tonight’s episode of Aangan showed a realistic picture of the partition and some of the scenes were shot really well. This was one of those very few episodes of Aangan which actually resonated with me on many levels although some of the scenes were yet again stretched to the limit. Azhar died a tragic death and even though the sequence of the events wasn’t put together in the best way possible, his exit did have an impact especially because he had worked so hard for these people. The khushfehmi of some of the characters tonight however was unbelievable. Alia’s mother’s wishful thinking and Azhar’s naivety had to be the most surprising part of this episode. The viewers finally got to see the angrez bhabhi – better late than never!
New Beginnings and Sad Endings
Tonight’s episode opened with Alia and her mother leaving Azhar’s house. Alia’s mother’s enthusiasm and love for her brother stayed the same right till the end. It was good to see the beginning of Alia’s new journey but it was annoying watching her mother sing praises of her brother. Chammi finally went back to Azhar’s house after venting out in a way which was completely in line with her character. Sajal Aly’s expressions when she finds out that Alia has left for Pakistan were priceless. Right after Azhar’s murder, instead of covering the aftermath, the viewers saw Jamil showing concern for Chammi and her daughter. This sequence of event minimized the impact Azhar’s murder could have had since the news came much later on. The funeral scene was more or less the same as all the other such scenes we witnessed in the previous few episodes. It was good to see Shakeel’s mother mentioning him after such a long time.
Tonight Jamil appeared to be a more mature man who was still struggling to fight with his demons. His concern for Chammi and her daughter showed that he no longer was the angry young man who was too busy complaining. The way he told those men off who offered money and the manner in which he broke his father’s stick suggested that even after Azhar’s death, their relationship was still bittersweet. Azhar never gave Jamil access to his books because he always thought he could never cherish them the way they deserved to be cherished. This was indicative of how Jamil could never come up to his father’s expectations and even now that angered him. Ahad Raza Mir’s performance tonight was phenomenal. Even though Jamil’s character is not very likable but Ahad Raza Mir’s nuanced performance throughout has made it this character more tolerable and tonight very easy to relate to.
Shehroz Sabzwari’s character was also introduced tonight. Alia decided to make herself useful by contributing in the relief work and that’s where she met the doctor who I suppose is going to be someone she will end up getting married to. Shehroz Sabzwari performed well and it was good to see Alia interacting with someone other than her family. Alia definitely deserves a good man in her life and so does Chammi. Hopefully Jamil is now responsible enough to take care of Chammi even if he doesn’t love her the way she loves him.
Final Remarks
This episode was definitely much better than many of the previous episodes. Mawra Hocane, Sajal Aly and Ahad Raza Mir performed really well and their tracks would be interesting to watch if there was more focus on them.
