Mahendra Singh Dhoni, widely known as “captain cool”, is a former Indian international cricketer. A right-handed middle-order batsman and wicket-keeper, Dhoni is one of the highest run scorers in One Day Internationals. He married Sakshi Dhoni in 2010.
The Ranchi Girl
Sakshi Dhoni was born as Sakshi Singh Rawat on November 19, 1988, in Guwahati, Assam. She did her schooling in Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi, Jharkhand. She graduated in Hotel Management from the Institute of Hotel Management in Aurangabad, Maharashtra. She did her internship in Taj Bengal, Kolkata. She was also a director of Rhiti MSD Alamode Pvt. Ltd.
Destiny
The marriage of Sakshi and Dhoni feels like it was destined. Sakshi and Dhoni knew eachother from childhood. They both went to the same school and their fathers worked in the same company, MECON, in Ranchi. Although their families shared a cordial relationship and they were in the same school, yet there was no connection between the two young buds at that time and before something could happen, Sakshi shifted to Dehradun with her family. However, destiny had something else in mind for them. They met again after a decade, far away from their home, in Kolkata and this time they met to be together forever.
How They Met
Sakshi Singh Rawat and Mahendra Singh Dhoni met at Taj Bengal, during the stay of India’s cricket team in November-December, 2007. It was fate that brought the two together as it was the last day of Sakshi’s internship at Taj Bengal. Yudhajit Dutta, who was MS Dhoni’s manager and Sakshi’s friend, introduced them once again. After Sakshi left, Dhoni took her number from Yudhajit Dutta and texted her. At first, she thought that somebody was trying to pull a prank on her but later she realized that it was the Indian Cricketer himself. After a lot of struggle on Dhoni’s end, the couple finally came together and started dating in March 2008.
The Low-Key Wedding
The affair of the duo was kept a secret and so were their wedding preparations. It was a low-key wedding and even media knew nothing about the affair. The couple got engaged on July 3, 2010 and the very next day, on July 4, 2010, they tied their wedding knots. The wedding ceremony was held at the Vishranti Resort near Dehradun. The love birds had their first baby, a beautiful girl named Ziva Dhoni, on February 6, 2015. At the time of her birth, Dhoni was in Australia to play the World Cup. He decided not to travel back to India and was famously quoted saying that “I am on national duty and other things can wait”. Sakshi being an understanding wife said that she was ok with it. They are an adorable couple with a lot of understanding.

Sakshi is a devoted wife and mother. She loves her family and always supports her husband. She is a foody and loves Butter Chicken. She herself is an excellent cook. She loves music. She runs a foundation known as ‘Sakshi Rawat Foundation” that supports orphans. She is best friend with Poorna Patel.
