Mere Humrahi Episode 10 – More Progress!

0

We finally got to see more of Haaniyah and Ahmed scenes and less of the additional tracks. I hope they get less screen space in the future too! Haaniyah was not comfortable with the idea of honeymoon and Ahmed sensed this. The poor guy tried to convince his mother but she kept a very valid point in front of him and since Ahmed is the obedient son, he couldn’t say no to his mother.

photo 1(2)Ahmed is trying so hard to adjust with Haaniyah and he even told her that they don’t have to act as husband-wife, they can go as friends. But Haaniyah was not ready to trust him and one could easily make out that Ahmed got hurt by this. He never complains about Haaniyah’s attitude; if someone else was in his place then they would have seriously offended by the lack of trust shown in him. Ahmed was not even mentally prepared to get married and he married Haaniyah to give her protection and to save her reputation, she should at least realize that!

Thanks to Haaniyah’s never ending ‘nakhre’ they ended up in a resort in the same city. One could have expected her to at least try to adjust to the situation, but she never even tried to make small talk with Ahmed. It was Ahmed who was continuously trying to get rid of the silence, but all he got in return were half baked sentences. I seriously feel for this guy, he is stuck in an awkward situation and he is trying his best to remove the awkwardness.

photo 3Talking to Haaniyah is like talking to an emotionless and feeling less brick wall. Ahmed started off the conversation with questions like ‘What is your date of birth?’, ‘horoscope’, ‘favorite color’ which I found really cute. They practically know nothing about each other! And all of Ahmed’s efforts went down the drain when he announced ‘mera ager beta hoga to mein usse cricketer banaonga’. So yes, we were back to square one after that since Haaniyah got offended by his words.

photo 4They also showed some progress in their relationship. The way he got worried when he did not find Haaniyah in their room was extremely cute. He was happy to see her walking and enjoying the weather, and Ahmed finally came up with a solution to their problem. Ahmed expects Haaniyah to try to make an effort from her side too, and they finally came to the conclusion that they should behave like friends. Well, they could have easily thought of this solution sooner.

photo 5Haaniyah finally opened up to Ahmed and I was in a state of shock when I saw Haaniyah and Ahmed shopping, hand holding and enjoying in the park. I couldn’t be happier to see the progress in their relationship. I thoroughly enjoyed all their scenes!

photo 2(1)Ahad is slowly realizing what a huge blunder he had made by ditching Haaniyah at the last moment. This reality check was given to him by his own friends. Ahad had become confused and scared when his friends had given him a horrible description of his life after marriage and this was one of the main reasons why he backed out. Till now, he was trying to justify his actions but now when his own friends told him that what he did was wrong, he had no justification left for his actions. Now he cannot deal with Haaniyah being Ahmed’s wife and his reaction to the news of their honeymoon proved that. I cannot imagine how Ahmed would have felt when he saw Ahad searching for Haaniyah when he came back home from the hospital.

photo(29)Samina will get to know the reason behind Haaniyah getting married to Ahmed instead of Ahad soon. There was simply no point of keeping her in dark after the wedding was over. When the whole world had witnessed it, then why hide it from Samina? Yes, she has the habit of telling everything to her mother, but things like these cannot be hidden from her forever. Ahsan and his family should have realized this and could have told her a censored version to kill her curiosity.

The preview of the next episode was pretty disappointing. Haaniyah’s behavior is going from bad to worse and I think Ahmed should simply stop trying now. Calling Ahmed’s sincere attempt to build their relationship as ‘dekhawa’ was pathetic in my view. I hope someone drives some sense into Haaniyah soon!

Mere Humrahi Episode 1 – Ditched At The Altar!

0

What caught my attention towards this show in the first place were the unique promos and the different storyline. I was personally sick of reviewing shows revolving around second marriages, gender discrimination, extra-marital affairs and many other concepts like those which we see in every other show nowadays.

photo(22)

This show did prove to be different from the rest and was indeed a breath of fresh air for me. It started off with the wedding preparations of Haaniyah (Soniya Hussain) and Ahad (Shehzaad Sheikh). Everyone seemed busy and excited about the wedding except one person; Ahad himself.

photo(17)

Ahad is the younger of the two brothers in the family. He happens to be spoilt one in the family and also a tad bit stubborn and immature, who has not been given any responsibility all his life. One day before his marriage to Haaniyah, he starts getting second thoughts about his marriage and gets the pre-wedding jitters. He suddenly realizes that he is not ready to take up such a big responsibility at such a young age as he wants to ‘enjoy’ his life at this stage like his friends.

photo(18)

Ahmed (Fahad Mustafa) is just the opposite of his younger brother. He is more mature, soft spoken and well-mannered. He happens to be the ‘perfect gentleman’ from what I could make out from the one scene he had in the episode. Since this episode was more focused on Haaniyah and Ahad’s wedding, we barely saw him. I am surely looking forward to seeing more of his scenes in the show.

photo(19)

Haaniyah is also the youngest in the family and is loved by everyone. I truly loved her equation with her elder brother Ahsan (Khalid Malik) who seems to be teasing her all the time. Her character happens to be full of life and she seemed extremely excited and happy about her marriage to Ahad. She happens to be madly and irrevocably in love with him even though Ahad gets a bit rude to her at times, she never minds anything. She seems to be living her dream until Ahad comes and bursts her bubble.

photo(20)

Ahad is the kind of person who loves himself more than anything else and has a careless attitude towards life. Without thinking about Haaniyah, he decided to break up with her the night before the wedding and left the poor girl in a hysterical state. I cannot believe he actually expected her to understand his feelings! After hearing his friend’s views about marriage, he got cold feet and was convinced that he had made a mistake in the first place by agreeing to get married to Haaniyah. And even though he loved her, he did not want to get married to her because he was not ready. Well, you should have thought that before agreeing to get married Ahad! Plus all the blame went on Haaniyah’s head as she apparently forced him for marriage. It was pretty evident that it was a mutual decision to get married and nobody forced him in the first place. He just needed a reason to break up.

photo(21)

The rain scene where Ahad informs Haaniyah of his decision was brilliantly directed and executed. It was different from what we usually see in dramas. I would say it had a filmy touch to it, which made it more appealing to watch. The scene was emotionally loaded and both Soniya and Shehzaad performed splendidly. I found Soniya a tad bit over the top but overall the scene was perfect. If a girl gets ditched by her fiancé the night before her wedding, then I am sure she would be hysterical just like it was shown.

From the promos, we all know what is next and I am desperately looking forward to the next track. The preview for the next episode shows Haaniyah’s reaction to the news. I would rate this episode 3 out of 5.

Do share your views about the first episode guys!

Mere Humnasheen Director Defends Pashto Accents After Backlash

0

Mere Humnasheen was a drama with a huge cast and a different storyline than we see normally on our screens. We saw our female protagonist fighting for her right to study and male characters with dignity and determination, both genders working towards some goal and not merely existing to have a love story.

Mere Humnasheen Director Defends Pashto Accents After Backlash

The drama directed by Ali Faizan and starring Hiba Bukhari, Shahzad Sheikh, Syed Jibran and Ahsan Khan initially got a lot of flak as the Pashto accents in the drama got heavily criticized. People said that the Pashtuns do not sound like that and the accents sounded artificial and bad. Syed Jibran who is a Pashtun in real life was good at the accent and the others were exaggerating it.

The director of the drama Ali Faizan has defended the accents. He said that obviously classes can be arranged and things can be better but it is discouraging for makers when people criticize a new addition in the drama. He also added that when you are showing a certain community to people, there needs to be accents of those areas. Ali Faizan said that may be people who were criticizing did not speak that way and people from some other area would.

This is what the director had to say about exaggerated accents:

Mere Humdum, Mere Dost – Episode 13

0

The highlights of this episode would be Aiman and Bibi celebrating Haider’s birthday, Haider getting a reality check as to how much he means to Aiman, finally Aiman getting some confidence in herself after getting the first position in class and Sajeela developing an interest in Haider.

So let’s start with Aiman hurting her foot. Poor thing slipped on the stairs, got her foot hurt and the first person she thought of in her moment of pain was none other than Haider. As expected, Haider left everything he was doing to take her to the doctor. A good thing here was Almaas’ reaction. She felt for Aiman and seemed more concerned than her own father. It’s a good thing that this drama is showing a healthy step mother and step daughter relationship. Almaas is an educated and liberal woman and it shows in her behavior, never once has she ever let Aiman feel that she is not welcome in her house or that she is a burden. I can’t remember the last time I saw ZQ performing so well and doing such a positive, mature and meaningful character.

Aiman feels very strongly for Haider and by now she is used to getting his complete attention. When he felt like being alone and when he needed some time for himself, naturally she misunderstood. She couldn’t go through her day, she bunked classes, avoided her friends and finally burst into tears when she confronted him. In short, her reaction was very strong and naturally Haider was surprised. If you ask me after this incident Haider should have been careful in his interactions with Aiman. He is a mature and sensible man, he can clearly see that Aiman has started depending on him for everything but in the very next scene they were hanging out again eating ice cream and as soon as she called him to inform him about her first position, again he took her for lunch. I can understand that his intentions are very noble and in the beginning it made sense that he was taking Aiman out to restaurants, she needed the push. But by now, she has made friends in her class and has become a little more relaxed around her parents, by now Haider should make a conscious effort to minimize his involvement in her life. If she starts to fall for him in the next episode ( which by watching the promo, we know she will :) ) it would not be entirely her fault.

Aiman is also getting more and more confidence in herself, specially after getting the first position in her class. Her joy and excitement knew no bounds, she wasn’t even expecting this herself. Hopefully, now she will get out of her shell and will become a little less introvert.

In my last review, I sort of predicted that now that Sajeela and Mazhar are finally divorced, Sajeela might start thinking about Haider again. The one man who truly loved her and the one whom she deceived. As soon as she found out that Haider is still single, well that one smile said it all. Hareem Farooq is really good at acting, so it wasn’t hard to read Sajeela’s face. I must say if Mazhar was shameless than Sajeela seems to be no less when it comes to getting what she wants. Even if she had an ounce of shame, she might not have asked her sister about Haider in the first place. We have all seen the lengths to which Sajeela can go when she wants something and Heaven help Aiman if Sajeela sets her eyes on Haider :).

Now the story did not progress much in this episode but hopefully in the next episode we will see the much awaited ” Aiman’s makeover “. I am hoping that they will not limit her make over to just untying her braid and putting on make up but will also give her a new wardrobe :).

Also through the promos, we can see there will be a new entry in the show. Fatima, the girl Haider went to University with and Bibi and Almaas might even be considering her for Haider. How will Aiman react to this, this we will have to wait and see. And will Aiman finally accept her feelings for Haider, that remains to be seen. The situation will become even more interesting if Sajeela decides to join the bandwagon of the ladies interested in Haider ;).

MERE HUMDUM MERE DOST Soundtrack!

Ahh! What a great lovely OST! I must confess that though dramas may disappoint viewers but their OSTs are always mesmerising. For example Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Khoya Khoya Chand, Darmiyan, Kabhi Kabhi etc. These dramas failed to satisfy viewers but their OSTs are super hit. It is good that our composers are working hard and trying to get best of the best. So it will not be wrong to state that quality of OSTs have been improved very much even some of the dramas OSTs sounds like a film song for example Dard-e-Inteha by Sara Raza Khan and Sahir Ali Bhagga, Shareek e Hayat by Sahir Ali Bhagga, Tu hi tu (bashar momin) OST by Kashif.

Mere Humdum Mere Dost is a new drama by MD Productions which will be ON-AIR on Urdu1. The cast include Sanam Jung, Adnan Siddiqui, Shakeel, Farhan Ali Agha, Junaid Khan etc. Its OST has been released and honestly when I first listen to the soundtrack I fall in love with it. I don’t usually like songs by listening to it first time but I must confess that this song mesmerized me in a first attempt.

The OST is composed by the living legend Waqar Ali, this man surely deserves a special award as he has taken our dramas OSTs to next level. He is a true genius and mastermind. The OST has been sung by two talented singers Nida Arab and Adeeb Ahmed they both are now rising singers in drama industry. Nida Arab had sung OSTs like Rukhsaar, Do Qadam Door Thay and Bashar Momin OST (Mann Moji) this will be her fourth project. Nida Arab gained her fame in 2009 by singing Nazia Hassan’s song Dum Dum Dee Dee she was totally neglected in the past but I am glad that she is now being recognised whether you agree or disagree with me she got a heart touching voice and she knows variations in singing very well. The male part of the song was performed by Adeeb Ahmed who gained popularity by singing title tracks of Drama Ranjeesh Hi Sahi and Aasmano Pe Likha. Adeeb Ahmed is also a great singer he has dazzled everyone through his OST of Aasmano Pe Likha. His unique voice is his specialty which gives him a particular position amongst all male OST singers.

Mere Humdam Episode 9 Story Review – Clichéd To The Core

Opening Thoughts – Clichéd To The Core:

Ohkay so, this drama is filled with clichés & I am not sure what makes the drama-makers think that they can get away with all of this? What are they trying to achieve by showing such dramas which serve no purpose at all & have such kind of stories that have been seen numerous times before? Not only the story of Mere Humdam is typical but it is clichéd & boring. The characters have zero personality & there’s no grip in the drama whatsoever.

Haris Is Shady & Warda Is Being Fooled:

It is so obvious that Haris has put the entire blame on Warda that she can not conceive whereas his body language & the incessant eye rolling states the opposite. If not anyone else, I thought Osama would be the first one to doubt Haris because he knows him too well but I guess even after knowing Haris for years, Osama has underestimated the fact that Haris can stoop so low to save his face.

Haris obviously has a plan on his mind. It is a done deal that he will use this lie against Warda only to bring Paras back in his life where he’ll say that in order to have a baby, he’ll marry someone else.

Daadi is not only annoying but she made my blood boil too. I know she is a typical woman who knows how to make another woman’s life miserable that is why she continued to pester Warda. It was disgusting how Daadi warned both Haris & Warda that they should only come back with good & positive reports, like seriously? I know she’s old but which century is she living in? I wonder how Haris’ mother seems so happy & comfortable around a mother in law like her?

Warda surely takes Osama as her confidant, she confides in her but it was bizarre that she chose to share such a personal detail of her life with him & later even Haris seemed alright with it when he found out that Warda has told Osama about all of this. I totally understand that Warda is being lied to, she trusts her husband & can not imagine that he’d fool her but then, when the drama began they showed Warda as a confident girl who decided to pursue a career & knew how to take a stand for herself, so why is it that now she can not even go to a doctor herself & get herself checked? Warda saw that Haris was least bothered about her but here she is, trying to brain-feed herself that her husband is doing ‘so much’ for her!!!

Closing Thoughts – Purposeless Drama:

These type of dramas should really be banned because they don’t show any solutions rather rely heavily on clichés to sell their story & gain ratings. I am glad that this drama hasn’t attained much popularity because it doesn’t deserve it anyways. Sarah Khan, a sincere advice to you, please stop doing dramas like these, you’re wasting your talent. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mere Humdam.

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Mere Humdam Episode 7 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts – Nothing New:

Ohkay so, the story of Mere Humdam has nothing new or good to offer. I waited for a few weeks to see if there’s any progress in the story before reviewing it because the previous episodes were not giving me much to discuss. For now, I am only watching Mere Humdam without any expectations because it is quite average & hasn’t really been special. The characters are one-dimensional & the story is quite boring till now.

Warda & Haris Are Bound To Fall Apart:

Warda seems more interested in getting Osama married which I find a little odd considering the issues she has with her husband which need her attention & not Osama’s marriage. The fixation of everyone in this drama with Osama’s marriage is beyond me, be it his mother, Warda & now Aiman as well. Aiman has pretty much signed her heart to Osama but he is not interested.

Haris is shady, he says he has nothing to give to Paras but everytime she called it quits after being forced by Osama, Haris made sure she doesn’t forget about him. Even though Haris has made Paras look like a culprit in this situation but he himself is used to the idea of being longed for by someone like Paras, who is not his wife, because he is selfish.

Warda continued to be suspicious about Haris but she didn’t really do much, apart from some ranting here & there that too in front of Osama. Warda knows that Haris is not really going to pay heed to whatever she expects from him, that is why she relies on Osama & pours her heart out to him. Osama really wants Warda to be happy that is why he goes out of the way to stop anything from happening that will sadden her but unfortunately, no matter what Osama does, it is Haris who needs to fix his attitude.

To be honest, as much as Daadi tries to sound sweet, she is definitely someone who can get on your nerves. Firstly, she is solely responsible for how Haris has turned out, secondly, she is now forcing them to have kids, what after 3 months of their marriage? It is too obvious that it is going to be her ladla who would be having some issues but he will lie to Warda & guilt trip her to rub his bruised ego. Actually, it is a fact that this marriage is bound to fail, first it was Paras, now even she has left, then Haris’ attitude, now when has started to become responsible too, this new issue will be raised, which will further crush Warda’s self-esteem & confidence. Warda is meant to be with Osama that is why he is stalling getting married, so not sure how long will they drag the story before making that happen. The marriage of Warda & Haris is a disaster so it should end ASAP.

Closing Thoughts – Below Average:

Honestly speaking, I never really had much expectations from this drama but I didn’t expect it to be below average either. Sarah Khan is so talented but unfortunately, she is wasting her talent in dramas like these. If she had chosen her projects wisely, she’d been an A lister actor but sadly, it seems she just signs whatever project comes her way. I think Sarah Khan should be more selective & picky. The cast is doing alright, the direction isn’t too impressive & the story is way too boring. Since they had so many car scenes, they should have worked harder to make them look real because that background cut paste job is horrible & hideous. It shows the attention to detail of the director. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Mere Humdam.

Mere Humdam Episode 3 & 4 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts – Been There, Seen That:

Ohkay so, these two episodes of Mere Humdam took the story forward & shed a light on the villain of the story in a lot more detail. However, it won’t be wrong to say that the story of Mere Humdam is quite typical & has been seen before by the drama buffs like a million times. Not sure how are they going to make it super interesting to keep the viewers hooked to it because no sparks have been spotted so far, so let’s see what the future holds!

Warda Is Getting Deceived:

Haris left Warda & went to see Paras the night he got married, it goes to show that Paras is not just a friend to him. The fact that Paras blackmails him & Haris allows to let that happens shows that it’s not only Paras who is emotionally involved in this relationship, Haris himself is also used to the attention he gets from Paras. Right from the beginning they have established the fact that Haris is the kind of person who does what he deems fit & he does not let anyone rule him, so for him to fall prey to some emotional blackmailing of a girl like Paras speaks volume about how he himself wants to stay associated with her. Considering the kind of person Haris is, it is too obvious that he kind of likes the attention he gets from Paras, it is like he extracts pleasure from the fact that there’s this girl who is longing for him & that he means so much to her that she is even ready to commit suicide to prove her love to him. Well, now that we have seen both Haris & Paras, I will say that they both suit each other perfectly & they’re made for each other.

Osama continued to be the saviour that he is & he tried to make sure that Warda doesn’t even for once feels dubious about Haris. Even though Osama is nice, considerate & all that jazz but the fact that he chose to stay silent & let this marriage happen does make him a culprit too. I can say Osama is borderline coward too for not speaking up before especially for the girl he loved because he knew what she was getting into so it was his responsibility to save her life from getting ruined because of a guy like Haris!

Osama has left quite an impression on everyone & it seems Aiman has started developing feelings for him, which is why both Warda & Haris also hinted about his marriage with Aiman. Osama also took matters in his hands & had a conversation with Paras. It did look like he had some kind of impact on him & whatever he said did move Paras but obviously, she is so used to the idea of chasing after Haris that she won’t leave him alone just yet.

Warda is getting to know Haris more & she finds herself disappointed at his cold & distant attitude towards her. Yes, Haris does praise her & does some pep-talk every now & then to please her but when it comes to being emotionally involved or attached with Warda, he maintains his distance which perplexes Warda quite a bit. To be honest, more than Haris’s attitude, I found it frustrating that Osama was trying to paint such a picture in front of Warda which is far from the reality. Yes, Osama is being a sincere & dutiful friend but then he has his sincerity invested in a guy like Haris who is upto no good & I guess Osama is mature enough to know that!

Closing Thoughts – Average Execution:

Overall, these two episode of Mere Humdam were fairly decent but they didn’t have much to them. So far the story has been pretty basic & so is the direction & the overall execution of this drama. Sarah Khan looks beautiful & it is a treat to watch her. Since we’re so used to seeing Syed Jibran doing such impactful characters, it is kind of hard to accept him doing this kind of role which is so bland. He played a similar character in Khudgarz but it was such a substantial role that contributed throughout the drama but in Mere Humdam, it is not coming through. I hope things gel well in the upcoming episodes. Gohar Mumtaz has improved a lot but he still seems uneasy, like his acting doesn’t look effortless even now. The actress playing the role of Paras has made that character perfectly annoying, which it is supposed to be but I still feel that actress has that tendency to get on your nerves & I can totally foresee her getting to me in the upcoming episodes. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these episodes of Mere Humdam.

Mere Humdam Episode 2 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts – Full of Clichés:

Ohkay so, this episode of Mere Humdam was decent but still had quite a lot of clichés to its credit. I am only watching Mere Humdam because I want something less heavy & I wouldn’t mind if it will continue to be clichéd but yes I do hope that the characters have a thing or two to offer.

Warda’s Getting To Know Haris:

The main focus in this episode was on Haris’s marriage where his family just didn’t want to waste any time & wanted to arrange it ASAP. Osama found out that Warda was Mr. Zaidi’s choice but to his surprise, Warda was pretty cool with the idea of getting married to a stranger too. The thing that kind of irked me the most was Warda & her family’s reaction to the proposal where just because they knew that Zaidi’s family was wealthy, they immediately assumed that Warda’s kismat was superb & she was this lucky girl who hit a jackpot. Warda’s mother also accepted the proposal as if she was waiting to marry her daughter off immediately, without inquiring about Haris or his background. It is unrealistic that without any background checks a girl’s mother accepted the proposal based on a face value. I actually thought that may be Warda will reconsider her mother’s decision because of her feelings for Osama but that wasn’t the case. Warda only sees Osama as her very good friend so she kind of also relied on him in order to get to know more about Haris!

Osama & Zaidi’s conversation represented the kind of mindset people belonging to elite class might have where they expect daughters in law who they deliberately choose from a middle class background, to do the heavy-lifting & make all the compromises to make their marriage work. It is like Zaidi already knows that Haris is a spoiled brat therefore he already expects Warda to not only do his upbringing which Zaidi & his wife failed to do, as well as put up with everything that Haris will direct at her. It is unfortunate that Zaidi is bringing Warda not as an equal & respectful individual in this relationship but as someone who he expects to be in an awe of Haris’s status as well as a doormat that he will mistreat.

I believe Osama should have tried to inform Warda a little about what she was getting into, not to prevent this marriage from happening but just giving her enough information because of which she could get a bit of an idea or make up her mind whether she wanted to get married or not. I am sure even Osama doesn’t know about Haris’s secret but other than that he should have told Warda about his personality & nature in general. Osama chose to stay quiet only because Mr. Zaidi told him to but I feel because he knew that Warda deserved so much better, he should have tried to help her at least.

Warda already started feeling a little put off with Haris’s behaviour where he would leave her in the lurch while prioritizing his personal affairs. Warda could at least feel that something was not right or that Haris was not too keen on her as he should’ve been but then her family along with Osama told her to get rid of all the wrong ideas or negative thoughts that were running through her mind. I kind of liked the fact that even though Warda is shown to be a submissive sort of a person but she still has a voice & enough instincts to deduce that something is definitely fishy. It was also nice to see her trying to do something to postpone the wedding, like it showed that she had her own plans & a thought process too but too bad that Haris’s family didn’t understand why Warda wanted some time.

Closing Thoughts – A Decent Watch:

Overall, this episode was decent but the drama is still in the initial stages of establishing the plot as well as introducing the characters & their personalities. So, next week they will reveal the secret Haris has been carrying. I have a feeling that she might be Haris’s wife & he is just getting married to Warda to please his parents so that they continue to support him financially as that is something that means a lot to Haris & he is dependant on. Let’s see. Sarah Khan & all the other actors have performed well so far. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Mere Humdam.

Mere Humdam Episode 1 Story Review – A Decent Beginning

Introductory Details:

Ohkay so, directed by Haseeb Ali, written by Seema Munaf & produced by Momina Duraid; Mere Humdam commenced last night on Hum TV. The first episode not only introduced the characters decently but also established the plot of the drama that the story will revolve around. If we put it in simple words, Mere Humdam is a story based on a love triangle.

Cast & Characters:

We have the female lead Warda (Sarah Khan) who is an honest & clean-hearted person to an extent of being gullible but she is confident & responsible. Warda is the eldest daughter & she has one younger sister Aiman (Natalia Awais). Aiman & their mother is all Warda has in her family. Warda has just started working & that is what is going to change the course of her life. Warda & Aiman share a very strong sisterly bond but there is a lot of bickering & banters involved too which made their relationship seems very real & natural.

Mere Humdam Episode 1 Story Review - A Decent Beginning

On the other hand we have Mr. Zaidi’s family which includes his mother, his wife (Fazila Qazi) & a son Haris (Gohar Mumtaz) who is well & truly spoiled by his grandmother & that is the reason he is so pampered that he doesn’t understand his basic responsibilities. Mr. Zaidi’s business is being taken care of by Osama (Syed Jibran) who is not only responsible & mature but is very compassionate & caring person as well. Osama happens to be a close friend of Haris too but Haris’s family treat him as an outsider & it is only his father who respects Osama a lot for what he does for him & how he takes care of his business as his own.

Mere Humdam Episode 1 Story Review - A Decent Beginning

Well, Warda & Osama meet on the first day of work when Warda goes for an interview. She forms an opinion about Osama without even knowing him but her impression about him changes the very next day when in the middle of office hours he drives her home so that she could see her mother, who falls sick. Warda then realizes that Osama is totally different than what she had thought of him & that gives her the courage to not only apologize to him but befriend him too.

Even though at first Osama thinks Warda won’t be suitable for this job because she lacks experiences but Mr. Zaidi insists on appointing her because he tells Osama that he sees potential in her. Later when Mr. Zaidi is having a conversation with his family, he tells them that he has found a girl for Haris & she is the kind of girl that everyone will like, which actually was the real motive behind him hiring her.

Warda & Osama develop understanding & grow comfortable with each other in a short span of time, so much so that they kind of start to like each other as well but Osama doesn’t really confess his feelings because it seems he was waiting for the right time which will definitely cost him a lot.

Haris is the kind of person who is not in touch with his emotions, he is just someone who is so used to having things his way & has this sense of entitlement. That is because Haris’s family especially his grandmother has pampered him so much that he gotten used to the idea of having everything served to him on a golden platter. He liked Warda too but he didn’t really show excitement about it. Osama accompanies Haris & that is when he finds out that it is Warda who has been chosen by his family for Haris.

Decently Executed:

Overall, the first episode of Mere Humdam was decent. It didn’t offer anything new but since I am so over watching such twisted & negative dramas, these days I am in for simple stories which are executed nicely & I hope Mere Humdam turns out to be that kind of a drama. Plus I am also watching it for Sarah Khan & Syed Jibran. Their first interaction reminded me of a scene from the Bollywood movie Chal Mere Bhai where even the dialogues were the same. I loved Warda’s character & Sarah Khan looked absolutely beautiful throughout the episode. I feel Hum Tv these days has changed the criteria of the kind of dramas they want to show, like now it seems they are into simple love stories & are taking a break from the social issues which I am definitely happy about. Since ARY is bent on making dramas on social issues, it is good to see another leading channel taking a different route. The acting as well as the direction was decent & I am looking forward to the next episode. Please share your thoughts about the first episode of Mere Humdam.

Mere Dard Ko Jo Zuban Miley: Last Episode Review

0

MDKJZM started off extremely well and had a lot going for it till about the 13th episode, after that gradually the play lost its focus and the well-etched out and extremely loveable characters seemed to be the only reason for me to continue watching this play. I have to admit that there were times when I completely wanted to give up on this play but I could not help being a very loyal viewer because somehow I felt like I owed it to Amina, Urooj, Arifa and Junaid in particular. I always liked Zakiya’s character too but since Bushra Ansari is also the writer of the play and the one responsible for all the unexpected but quite often not needed twist and turns too , I could not help but hold her responsible for disappointing her viewers. The direction and acting stayed top notch through out the serial and like I stated earlier the characters were very likeable.

There are many dramas that we stop following after a few episodes because they seem repetitive and boring but catch up with them in the last few episodes because these are the episodes that are truly rewarding and the end very satisfying; which sort of makes up for all the disappointments in the past. MDKJZM is one of those rare plays which I would have actually remembered with fond memories had I stopped watching it in the middle! Today’s episode was extremely disappointing to say the least and I was wondering if this really was the end!

The only good thing about the story today was that Arifa finally mustered up the courage to encounter Salaar and saved her sister’s life. But I cannot help but question the way this encounter happened. They could have met in an office or a shop or on the roadside…why did Salaar have to be the guy who Arifa’s sister was going to marry. Aminah and Urooj were separated for no reason, there were regrets, remorse and hurt on both sides. And most importantly the insensitivity shown towards Urooj’s disability was highly irrational. Urooj was referred to as “zinda lash” “Bebas” “nakara” and Zakiya even told Salaar that Aminah did not know how it felt like to live with a “Normal and healthy” person. Later when Zakiya asks Aminah to come stay with them she says, “Urooj ko tu adaat hai mehrumiyu ke saath jeenay ki”. Did the writer not realize that there maybe special people who might be watching this show or many of us maybe related to such people? A person who is deaf and mute is not normal? Well, unfortunately that is exactly what we were shown that a special person does not have the right to lead a normal life. I can’t believe that this is the same drama which made us fall in love with it because we thought it was portraying a special person in a new light. The viewers never sympathized with Urooj’s character we fell in love with it. Urooj was sensitive and adorable and I fail to understand why he lost his charm all of a sudden.

The end was extremely unsatisfactory and I failed to draw any good lessons from it, which is very sad given that MDKJZM started off as a play with a lot of good lessons. I must give credit to Adnan Ahmed for doing a great job with directing this play, all the actors did a brilliant job but the storyline failed to impress. MDKJZM was a drama with tons of potential, too bad all of it went to waste.

MERCEDES! A Status Symbol in our Dramas

0

OK I think we have talked enough on dramas and actors, this time I will be going to talk on a very odd topic and that is growing trend of showing Mercedes car in dramas. Yes it may be sound abnormal to you that I am talking on a totally diversified chapter but this is something I am observing that Mercedes car is now being used often for past 2 3 years. I know that this topic may sound lame as well but don’t worry I will told you some blunders and will do some fun with those dramas in which Mercedes car had been shown.

Now there is a trend among writers to show a highly rich family and a poor or middle class family in which usually a boy having a lavish lifestyle prefers to love a girl who is from a poor or middle class family. I don’t understand what our writers are thinking seriously does it connects to real world or if it I guess very seldom or if they are trying to change the society then most welcome from my side.

OK so coming back to our topic Mercedes-Benz is a German auto-mobile manufacturer. Mercedes-Benz is considered to be a benchmark of auto mobile Industry and it is one of the prestigious brand of the world. Usually businessmen prefers to buy Mercedes-Benz because of its elite class. Well it is true that people in Pakistan also consider Mercedes as high valuable car like in every country so I can say that showing a Mercedes in dramas represents a true face of society but how they are valuing it in dramas let me show you with some of my crispy and freakish analysis I hope you will enjoy. I will discuss some recent dramas and attitudes of rich people having Mercedes car in dramas.

So the trend of showing Mercedes more often actually begins with drama “Humsafar”. Asher an obedient son and a good business man running his father business successfully drives the Mercedes E- Class 2005 model yet he marries his cousin from a poor family back ground. Don’t darn at me because I will not say anything wrong as his marriage is a forceful marriage so no blunder in the story. Realistic test passed well done Farhat Ishtiaq!

Ok moving on Fawad’s next drama “Zindagi Gulzar hai”, fawad as Zaroon yet again a sweet papa’s boy having same type of egoistic mother like in humsafar drives to university in Mercedes S class 350 2008 model seriously! This is the most expensive model and he is driving this car only to come to university I wonder what his father is driving or they are super rich having two Mercedes. Well I guess Mercedes is for business class he should have some sporty car in order to look cool. Zaroon is so humble to that he wants to marry a middle class girl Kashaf and he don’t like the modern lifestyle does this exist in rich families? I grew up in a typical society where rich people’s children doesn’t even bother to look at poor people well it might happen so reality test half passed!

Kankar drama another set of pity issue by Umera Ahmed a rich guy running a multi-million business prefers to marry Kiran a girl from a middle class family and look at the attitude of a girl she doesn’t wants to marry him! However her father accepts the proposal, so after getting married Kiran sits on the front seat of Mercedes E class 2011 model. Now a major blunder in the story she travels in luxurious Mercedes but reveals her wish for another car as she likes it and next day her husband bought it for her. Well now this is something unrealistic but on the other hand she is a girl she can have a different choice.

Talking about current drama Aasmano Pe Likha and a trend to show rich guy with a mercedes and poor girl continues. So Sheheryar as Aaliyan another dadu’s sweet boy enters a marriage hall and wants to help a girl Qudsia by giving his Mercedes car to her in laws because girl’s in laws wants a car in Jahez but her father couldn’t provide it due to financial difficulties. So if Aaliyan is offering his Mercedes why they haven’t accepted it because Aaliyan and Qudsia’s relation had already been made on sky. Wow every poor girl wants to have fortune with a dashing rich husband driving Mercedes-Benz who will be humble and kind as well. Realistic test failed as it is unrealistic.

Umera Ahmed’s another drama serial Muhabbat Subah Ka Sitara well don’t remind me yes the story of a rich guy and poor girl is still running. So another humble and a kind businessman with a large business fell in love with her innocent secretary who is from a poor family background. Umera Ahmed’s story although gives us lots of lessons but don’t why she loves to show a connection between rich and poor. Any ways Nabeel driving a Mercedes S class wants to give his whole property to his wife yes the same innocent secretary. Well if a person owns a Mercedes, A large business and property so I guess he will not be stupid enough firstly to get married with such a poor girl surely he will look for a girl in his own class secondly if it happens so no one is stupid one to give all his wealth including property to his wife. Reality test failed big time.

My last choice “Bunty I love you” the trend changed as the writer is now a male so this time a rich woman who had inherited wealth from her old-aged husband who died at the age of 72 and a poor guy. Saba Qamar as Dania driving Mercedes S Class 2008 model accidently met Bunty who is a cell phone snatcher and that accident proves to be a treasure for bunty. Bunty is such a lucky person two rich girls love him one Mehwish whose father owns a car showroom in dubai and second is dania. I know all boys will want that to happen! Well at least dania having Mercedes and a large villa should have maintained her status. How unrealistic well don’t worry as Khalil-ur-Rehman stories are always unrealistic yet interesting.

Above is all folks although containing some reality, so don’t took it seriously. If you have found my analysis lame just criticize but I want to come up with something different.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

The Ayeza Khan, Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui starrer has been receiving a lot of praise for the trio’s acting. However, the storyline of the drama is under major criticism as it shows how a materialistic woman is intent upon destroying her own house in her lust for more money.

Meray Pass Tum Ho, is a journey of a broken heart: Ayeza Khan

We’ve seen how vain Mehwish( Ayeza Khan) is and how she stops at absolutely nothing to get what she wants when it comes to money. First, she encouraged her husband to take bribe, took undue loans herself and now she’s accompanying her boss to out of town trips and wearing night suites, whether to entice him or be agreeable to whatever he says.

Mehwish encourages Shahwar and doesn’t back down, even when he hints he’s flying out for a date with her. We do not know what transpired between the two in this episode but we know for sure that no loyal woman does what Mehwish is doing to her husband.

Ayeza Khan’s character as Mehwish has been receiving a lot of backlash, especially after the last episode. The scenes with Shahwar have been earning her criticsim for being a selfish wife and ignoring her family in the process. Currently we do not know how the story will progress, but as the promo shows Shahwar asking Mehwish to choose, we can hazard a guess that she might not choose Danish at all.

Taking all this backlash and the criticism in her stride, Ayeza Khan, recently took to her Twitter to share how she felt about playing Mehwish.

Stating how she wouldn’t want to live as a woman Mehwish is, ever again, Ayeza wrote,” I have lived one life which I never want to live again as a woman, meray pass tum ho, its not just a story a husband and a wife, the lust for money, its a journey of a broken heart.”

Certainly Ayeza Khan, who herself is a devout mother and a wife, must have felt turbulent emotions after she played the character of Mehwish. Mehwish is vain but certainly beautiful and she knows how to use her beauty to get what she wants. The sad part is, the story as usual is inspired by our society and women like Mehwish certainly exist, which to their plight, destroy hundreds of homes.

Directed by veteran director Nadeem Baig, Meray Pass Tum Ho, has been written down by Khalil ur Rehman Qamar. The drama, well now into its 9th week, stars Adnan Siddiqui, Humayun Saeed and Ayeza Khan in lead roles. Currently, Meray Pass Tum Ho has been earning rave reviews over the past few weeks.
