Whenever somebody asked what happened to her. Her parents cover it up with a lie that she is just not feeling well. She blamed her parents’ strained relationship and some other emotional triggers to be the cause of her anxiety attacks and depression.
She told Mira that she has recovered somewhat but still she feels stressed sometimes. She suffered anxiety for 12 years and used to take 11 tablets a day to cope with it. She further added that she was on the verge of giving up and feared that she would never be able to face people again. She credits her friends and family who became her pillars of strength to overcome depression.

She told that she comes from a family background where feminism or equality is not much appreciated or practiced. However, she was determined to show all of them that she can do everything and has to make a name for herself. “When I started my graduation, the doctor used to give me a medicine that I have to put beneath my tongue. Because I used to have extremely bad fits. My treatment started”
“If someone asked my family, what has happened to her, they used to say nothing she is just not feeling well. When we had to go somewhere, my parents used to say me to put my medicine under my tongue, and not to do something there. And I always used to say that I am not doing anything intentionally, it happens to me” said Maya while talking about her family.
“I was in class 10 when I saw a panel of doctors on TV talking about the symptoms of depression and anxiety. I went to my mother and told her that I have all these symptoms they are telling on Tv. My mother asked me to turn off the Tv and to study”
