Khul ke GEO

0

Is it just me or is GEO TV committed to depressing the daylights out of us? Seems like the channel has taken it upon itself to churn out serial after serial focusing exclusively on how bad things really are in our society! The titles of the play are usually enough to discourage me from watching on- Behkawa, Adhoori Aurat, Mi Raqsam, NUMM, Baanjh, Zindagi Udaas Hai, Kalmoohi… Just yesterday they aired a new show- Do Qadam Durr Theh. I was bored enough to sit through an episode and OH.MY.GOD- yet another tragedy revolving around Ayeza Khan.

zuht

The serials on GEO TV never really have any strong message so after 20 odd episodes of tears and depression, the audience is left feeling frustrated. The production values are low, I’m never fully satisfied with the sound and overall, it feels like everything they air is so last season.

numm

I always imagined GEO to be a play on the word- JIYO (to live life to the full) but sadly it seems to mean the exact opposite. I like watching serials with a powerful script, and most importantly those that are headed in some sane direction whatsoever. Whether it’s the lack of good writers, directors and producers, the finished product lacks the appeal that serials aired on HUM and even to some extent ARY have to offer.

AA

The only trend that I notice is how utterly depressing life can be- and they have locked in Ayeza Khan for a life-long contract of crying her eyes out. The poor girl has far more potential than wasting herself crying.

With competition growing fierce, it’s high time they rethink their approach and introduce quality content instead of the same old, rehashed stories they’ve been torturing us with for the longest time!

Is GEO one of your favorite channels? What do you like/ dislike about it?

Khudgarz Last Episode Review – A Complete Ending!

Khudgarz finally got a closure & now when it has ended, I totally believe that this drama couldn’t have met a better ending. Even though things became a bit too realistically depressing, I feel the writer didn’t lose a grip on the script. Though there were a lot of possibilities if the character of Aairah hadn’t died but I will respect the writer’s approach because no matter what, it can not be denied that Khudgarz turned out to be one of the strongest dramas in terms of storyline, direction, acting & characterization.

The fact that this drama was titled after Hassan; Khudgarz, this episode perfectly brought an end to everything with Hassan & his journey being the focal point, justifying why this drama was named after him. The theme of the drama was always about Hassan, a soul that lost its direction who then started walking on the path of self-discovery after a lot of destruction. I know some readers might not agree because we all have loved Junaid & Aairah’s characters but after watching the end of this drama, it became a bit more clear that this story was not about anyone else but only & only Hassan. Even though they were very strong characters with whom we formed a very strong bond but this fact always remained underlined that by the end of the day, everything revolved around Hassan, what he did, how he did & most importantly how he affected others’ lives.

Hassan finally realized that he had to do right by Dua & he also had to apologize to Abeer for what he put up her with, that is why he paid a visit to her place. Hassan knew that the least he could do for Dua was to secure her future & he did just that. Hassan’s apology to Abeer was heartfelt & genuine but I don’t blame Abeer for not giving him the luxury of her forgiveness because he mistreated her enough to leave her emotionally scarred for the rest of her life.

Hassan finally got a validation from his mother that at least she trusted him & she believed that he had changed for the better. This was something that Hassan longed for & for someone who is trying to undo everything that he has done in the past, a little support, some assurance, some faith & a response acknowledging their effort is all one needs & this is exactly why Hassan broke down when he heard that even after all this Salma believed in him & had faith in him!

Abeer & Raheel raised Dua with love, care & attention & it was good to see that even after they had their own child, it just didn’t change anything because Dua still meant everything to them. It was nice to see that Abeer had kept in touch with Salma & also had instilled this fact in Dua that they were a family. I must say, it was beautifully shown that though Abeer must not have forgiven Hassan for what he did to her, she still wasn’t selfish enough to deprive him of his right of being known to Dua, it was may be her way of accepting his apology & realizing that Hassan genuinely loved Dua. I was also surprised when Dua spoke about Aairah & Junaid, in my opinion it was pretty realistic that despite raising her as their own, Abeer & Raheel introduced Dua to Junaid & Aairah & let her know that they were her biological parents. The scene where Hassan broke down in front of Dua was so heart wrenching. No matter how many years may have passed, the guilt of harming both Junaid & Aairah still weighed Hassan down & though others might have forgiven him, he still didn’t forgive himself. To see Omar & the orphanage being a part of Hassan’s life was nice. He learned from his mistakes, though the hard way but he really did & it was nice to see him showering love & mercy on such kids who needed it the most.

Even though things got pretty intense by the end but now when the drama has finally ended, I feel content because I don’t think anything was left out & in my opinion everything got a proper ending with no loose ends. Yes, may be a few scenes of Munawwar guiding & supporting Hassan would’ve been better but I guess may be Ghulam Mohiuddin was not available that is why it was casually suggested that Munawwar’s character passed away. I will definitely be taking away quite a lot from this drama, the highlights like strong women, an amazing friendship, how two ladies helped each other out in their darkest of times, a marriage which started off as a compromise later budding into a beautiful relationship based on respect, compassion & true love. Every single aspect of this story was beautiful. I loved all the positive characters & appreciate the journey of negative characters too. Aairah was definitely my favorite character followed by Omar & Junaid. Amina Sheikh, Sami Khan & Syed Jibran were the stars of this show & they were equally & strongly supported by Mansha Pasha, Salman Saeed, Yasir Nawaz, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Mehmood Akhtar & Shaheen Khan. Yasir Nawaz once again proved what an ace director he is & it was good to see him act after a long time too. Writer Rida Bilal definitely gave us a memorable drama with some amazing characters so she should take a bow because to bring reality that too with such strong grip & conviction is no easy feat. The way Rida Bilal elaborated emotions & intelligently tackled the subject like depression & jealousy really made this script stand out. The entire team of Khudgarz should be very very proud of their efforts & yes, I have fallen in love with its OST as well. Please share your thoughts about the final episode of Khudgarz.

Khudgarz Episode 9 & 10 Review – Going Strong!

Ohkay so, this episode of Khudgarz was interesting & engaging. It surely kept me at the edge of my seat because I assumed something bad was going to happen to Aairah & it didn’t but then again that idea can’t be ruled out since Hassan’s calm is an indication of a storm that might be coming her way!

Finally, Abeer & Raheel were not only settling down with each other but they were developing understanding as well. Since Abeer has had such a bitter experience in the past, she didn’t take a second in misunderstanding Raheel whereas he was only trying to protect her. It is nice that Abeer acknowledges the fact that Aairah has brought such a nice change in her life & has guided her through. If it wasn’t for Aairah, Abeer would have never given it a thought that may be Raheel’s suggestion of looking for another job had some solid reason behind it!

Hassan obviously couldn’t cope up with the fact that everyone around him was happy & busy in their lives. Abeer not only left him but moved on too & right in front of him, Aairah & Junaid were falling in love with each other with each passing day, so obviously Hassan had to do something to wipe those smiles off their face. Sending old photographs to Raheel only showcased how sickly twisted Hassan is. Hassan literally devised a plan to send Junaid away so that he can work on getting Aairah comfortable with him. Hassan can clearly see that his father is not only sympathizing with him but is paying heed to everything that he says, that is why he is making sure to steer his thoughts against Junaid.

I have said it before & I will say that again, the main culprit behind Hassan’s unreasonability is Munawwar, his father. The way Munawwar spoke about Aairah & finding a girl for Hassan clearly showcased the sort of mentality he has. Also, the way he treated Inayat was enough to show how heartless he is. It is so obvious that Munawwar is regretting his decision of getting Aairah & Junaid married & I couldn’t believe when he judged Aairah for falling in love with her husband & also judged her father for getting her married to Junaid. Munawwar has shown how unreasonable he is & because he believes everything that Hassan says, I am sure he will be paying a huge price because of it. Even though Munawwar found out what Hassan did with Raheel & Abeer, he didn’t bother asking his son for an explanation as he was too busy blaming his wife & sympathizing with Hassan!

Aairah could already feel something. Her 6th sense was telling her that things might go wrong. Aairah was right in feeling that when everything was wrong, she would feel at ease but now when things were seemingly falling into their place, she could sense that something bad was coming her way. Aairah’s dependence on Junaid & her emotional attachment with him was super sweet. Just like Aairah, Junaid has also realized that he can’t be without her. It was for the first time that Junaid spoke against Hassan when he found out that Aairah took a ride to her office with Hassan, it goes to show that when it comes to Aairah, Junaid is wary of a lot of things & he doesn’t trust just anyone. I already feel bad knowing that both Munawwar & Hassan are against Aairah & Junaid, they so do not deserve this!!!

Overall it was a very interesting episode. I loved the way Abeer fell in love with Raheel all over again when she found out that he was trying to protect her from Hassan & all those office colleagues who badmouth her. I must say one of their colleagues is so annoying, I just wish he gets sacked ASAP. All those funny moments that Abeer & Raheel shared were really cute, it was nice seeing Abeer happy & Raheel going out of the way to make sure that she is happy. All the actors; Mansha Pasha, Amina Sheikh, Syed Jibran, Salman Saeed & Sami Khan are doing a wonderful job & the director has done justice to this script & the characters. Definitely looking forward to the next episode & yes, Tuesday seems way too far now. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khudgarz!

Khudgarz Episode 7 & 8 Review – Amazing!

Ohkay so, it was yet another amazing episode of Khudgarz but just when I was feeling happy by the end of it, the preview of the next episode took that away from me because looks like one of the strongest character is going to hit the rock bottom. I so didn’t see it coming & I actually hope it isn’t what I am thinking it is. Other than that, Khudgarz continues to impress me & I must say Yasir Nawaz is one fine director!

It was beautiful that just when Aairah was trying to bring Abeer to life, Abeer was helping Aairah in one way or the other too. Abeer happened to be the first person in front of whom Aairah gave words to her feelings for Junaid. Aairah actually fell in love with Junaid but still hesitated because she felt that he was still stuck in the past & wasn’t ready to move on.

Abeer not only got her confidence back but realized that she deserved so much better. All the conversations that Aairah & Abeer had with meaningful & interesting. Abeer didn’t even realize until she heard it from Aairah that she speaks about Raheel with a very positive & appreciative tone which then made her realize that Raheel has had an impact on her that she was unaware of.

The way Abeer got to know about Raheel’s feelings was very sweet. She spotted her picture in his wallet & then realized what she means to him. Raheel was there for Abeer every step of the way & without saying anything, he still made sure that Abeer knew that she had his back. Abeer not only said sorry but the way her body language changed in front of Raheel went to show that she was conscious of his feelings & kind of acknowledged them too. The confession scene of Raheel & Abeer was very sweet. Abeer finally understood that she was not only better off without Hassan, she also deserved someone who loved her & accepted her for who she was. Raheel got to tell Abeer how much he loved her & the way he worded his feelings by telling her what he thought of her was beautiful too! The way Raheel protected Abeer was so nice, I felt happy for Abeer that she finally found someone who would do the heavylifting as she was done fighting with so many demons that she now deserved a break & was getting one as Raheel was there for her!

Hassan is actually a weak man who thinks he is strong because people around him stayed silent & tolerated his atrocities. One thing worth noticing was that Hassan walked away everytime someone looked into his eyes & chose not to get intimidated by him, at that moment it got a bit too obvious that Hassan was a coward who couldn’t fight those who stood up to him. Abeer filed for divorce & Hassan couldn’t take it but then again, he decided to part ways as he realized that Abeer wouldn’t let him walk all over her anymore. It was like Hassan got to know that Abeer was of no use to him because she also garnered the courage to stand up to him & that was something that he couldn’t tolerate! Hassan’s fear of the police & flashbacks of him assaulting Abeer showed that he only knew how to stuff things up but had no courage to own the wrong that he does.

Junaid fell in love with Aairah & decided to confess his feelings on her birthday. Even though Junaid is submissive but he fell in love with Aairah because of her & not because he had to fulfill his committment. After spending time with her & getting to know Aairah better, Junaid realized that she was a perfect partner for him. Aairah who on her own fell in love with Junaid felt at ease after hearing from him that he was ready to move on & that’s when she decided to reciprocate his feelings too. I love how both Aairah & Junaid are so honest with each other, like Junaid clearly told her that he might miss Rabeea someday as it won’t be possible for him to completely forget her but he came to terms with his fate & Aairah also understood him. The way both Aairah & Junaid are dealing with this relationship like two mature adults is not only interesting but quite refreshing too.

Junaid knew that hell would break lose if Hassan’s parents will find out about his marriage with Abeer, that’s why he told Aairah to keep that secret to herself. It was good that Aairah chose to respect what Junaid said because she knew things would get out of hands if the family will find about it & it would further put pressures on Abeer which would serve no purpose whatsoever. Aairah was happy to know that a toxic man like Hassan was out of Abeer’s life but sadly, she has no idea that he’s going to create a havoc in her life.

Overall, this episode of Khudgarz was quite interesting & engaging. I love the conversations that happen between the characters as they are so meaningful, sweet & refreshing. I loved seeing a healthy marital relation between Junaid & Aairah, since this normalcy is thrown out of the window in most of our dramas. Mansha Pasha took the crown in this episode with her phenomenal acting & I must say Salman Saeed was quite impressive as well. The chemistry between both the couples is subtle but very strong which is amazing to see. Syed Jibran, Amina Sheikh & Sami Khan are equally impressive as well & the direction of this drama is flawless. Definitely looking forward to the next episode. Khudgarz Episode 5 & 6 Review – Very Interesting & Convincing!

Ohkay so, the first 4 episodes of Khudgarz were interesting because the subject & the characters were getting introduced but these two episodes were of some other level & it is safe to say that this drama has now kickstarted. From direction to acting to dialogues & the way the scenarios were unfolded, every single thing was spot on & very very convincing & now I can’t wait to see what the team of Khudgarz has in store for the viewers!

Aairah & Junaid had a similar approach towards their relationship & because they both knew that there was no way out, the best they could do to make things work was to become each other friends as they could see that it would make things less awkward for both of them. Aairah’s opinion about not opting for divorce was convincing, it was like she knew that both Aairah & Junaid got married to save the family from becoming a laughing stock & now if she would go for divorce, it would defy the purpose for which they got married in the first place.

The way Aairah tried to bring Junaid out of depression & forced him to overcome his guilt was beautiful. She was trying to be his friend in true sense by understanding how hard things were on him, especially when she could see that Junaid kept his emotions & feelings bottled up & had no one to confide in. Junaid also opened up in front of Aairah as she gave him that comfort zone. At least after facing insults from Hassan, Aairah & Junaid knew that they both had each other by their side, as friends & as two people who were in the same boat!

After Aairah & Junaid’s bonding, the best thing that happened in this episode was Abeer’s desicion of seeking help from Aairah. The way Aairah instilled the confidence in her & the changes Abeer brought in herself & her approach were brilliant. I must say, I don’t remember any such drama in which depression was portrayed & dealt with so convincingly. It was absolutely perfect how it was shown that Abeer excelled at what she did in her professional life but when it came to her personal life, her past experiences shaped her character & those dark times had such a long lasting effect on her that she couldn’t deal with those emotions & ended up facing depression. Abeer’s track has to be the most interesting part of this drama because it touches such a sensitive subject in such a convincing manner. Abeer couldn’t be with her mother because her mom chose not to believe her & now when she once again she needed her support, she knew that her mother won’t be there for her.

Aairah tried to introduce Abeer to the idea of self-love, something that she had forgotten after being betrayed by her step father & by being mistreated by Hassan. Aairah was right in telling her that she needs to step back & take a good look at Hassan because at the moment she was unable to see his mistakes. Raheel’s supportive words also gave Abeer a chance to analyze that she was worth something as well & she was not supposed to act like Hassan’s doormat.

Aairah was deeply affected by Abeer’s story that is why she was introspecting but Junaid served as a good distraction. It was actually quite nice to see both Aairah & Junaid standing upto Hassan for each other & this is what touched Aairah the most because of which she for the first time felt the strength that this relationship carries & the special bond that a husband & wife share!

The emotional transition that Abeer had was so good to see. The way she distanced herself from Hassan actually showed that she was paying heed to whatever Aairah was telling her. A jog in the park & then watching TV peacefully showed that Abeer was now learning to live her life on her own & she was also learning that she didn’t need such a selfish man like Hassan to make her happy.

In the previous review I did say that I feel Hassan gets away with everything because of his parents & their leniency & what happened in this episode proved me right. Just because Hassan shed a few tears in front of his father, he started second guessing himself & felt that he must have wrong his biological son. Hassan has a victim mentality & he loves playing the victim that is why he makes sure to put this to his advantage & it works. It was so bizarre that Hassan’s father got Aairah & Junaid married to save family’s reputation & now he was thinking about their divorce only to please Hassan? He should’ve known better. After this, I totally believe that Hassan is not responsible for the way he is because it’s his parents & their failed parenting which led him to become someone who has anger issues & someone who wants things to go his way, always!

I must say, in the beginning I did think that the story of this drama will revolve around Hassan but seeing how every other character came to the forefront & has so much to offer definitely changed my mind. The focus on Abeer & her depression, Aairah & Junaid’s bonding & Aairah’s roleplay in helping emotionally weak people like Junaid & Abeer make this drama quite interesting & well thought out!

Hassan gets away with everything because the people he is related to, be it his parents or Abeer, allow him to do what he deems fit, that is why Aairah tried to make Abeer understand that no one will ever mistreat her if she wouldn’t allow that to happen. Just because no one has ever dared to confront Hassan, he feels he can treat people the way he likes & because he knows that there are certain people who love him & don’t want to hurt him, he exploits them to his advantage only to make himself feel better & make himself feel that he is worth something, because till date he hasn’t been able to cope up with the rejection he faced!

Overall, this episode was very engaging & very very interesting. The preview of the next episode already has me guessing because I so don’t want to see anything happening to Abeer. Raheel’s character is nice too because he empowers Abeer is subtle ways which she has now started noticing. Amina Sheikh takes the crown this week for such perfect acting. Mansha Pasha has outdone herself as well, she really has given Abeer’s character a perfect treatment. Sami Khan & Syed Jibran have nailed their characters as well. Yasir Nawaz surely knows how to get the best acting out of all these actors, that is why everyone seems to be doing such a perfect job. The direction of this drama is phenomenal too, it just keeps you engaged & doesn’t let your mind get distracted even for a second. Definitely looking forward to the next set of episodes. Khudgarz Episode 3 & 4 Review – A Decent Watch!

Ohkay so, it was a decent episode of Khudgarz, but I will say that the precap of the next episode seemed more interesting. This time around, they tried to give an insight into the characters a bit more & took the story forward but again, even though the direction & the acting was spot on, I didn’t find anything new that as I was actually looking for!

Junaid & Aairah were trying to get on with their lives, seperately & together as well but deep inside, they both were hurt & unsure of what they are supposed to do because they both know that they have no way out of this relationship. Aairah did her best by forming a relationship with Salma, her mother in law & she then started getting to know more about Junaid, like his habits, his nature & his personality, which was good. The way Junaid started taking care of Aairah’s belongings was basically something that he did due to his routine but it was a gesture enough to show her that she was a part of the family as well. Junaid also saved Aairah from Hassan’s mistreatment which then gave her a chance to think about him & have a little idea about how courteous he was!

Junaid obviously was depressed too because he is someone who keeps his emotions bottled up & the only person who meant everything to him was Rabeea & sadly, he can’t be with her now. Salma could see that Junaid was struggling but even she knew that nothing could be done about it. It was good to see that Junaid confided in Inayat, that’s why he was feeling for him as well.

Hassan chose to do everything to tease & torture everyone. From his father to his mother to Junaid to even Aairah, Hassan made sure that they get the message loud & clear that he is not letting anyone off the hook because he still feels insulted. Hassan knows that Junaid is someone who will never face him, that is why he continued pestering him. The good part was that Hassan’s assumptions were put to rest when Aairah spoke up because he thought she’d surrender like everyone else but Aairah told him that she is not going to take anything from him as firstly, she is not guilty & secondly, she is too strong to let anyone walk all over her!

Abeer continued to plead & beg in front of Hassan, which again was an ego boost for him. It is surprising that the same Abeer who does so well for herself in her professional life & who stood up to her step father as she could very well decipher his intentions, chooses to be blind when it comes to Hassan & his mistakes. Abeer is a depiction of such people who go to any extreme to prove their love because they are too afraid of being left alone. Since Abeer knows that she can’t be with her mother because of her step father, she allows Hassan to mistreat her as it still makes her feel secured. Even though Abeer has a few reasonable & valid demands like being known to his family as his wife & being with them, she suppresses it only due to her fear of driving Hassan away from herself. It was quite interesting to see a different kind of Abeer when she came across her step father, it showed that she can speak for herself that is why it is hard to accept that she lets Hassan treat her like a doormat!

Raheel chose to interfere in Abeer’s life because he actually assumed he was saving her from some guy who was trying to hurt her but then he was shocked when he found out that Abeer was married to Hassan. Raheel loves Abeer but now that he knows about her marital status, he will definitely draw a line but I do feel he will continue with his support as he can already see that Abeer is being exploited because the first interaction that he had with Hassan told Raheel a great deal about him!

I feel Hassan’s parents’ are the reason why he is like that & they have played a major role in making him so stubborn because they allowed & still allow him to walk over them & everyone. Even now when Hassan left the house after he had a spat with Aairah, his parents were worried for him? No one dares to confront him or boycott him because of which Hassan feels he can have his way every single time!

Hassan very well knows that he is Abeer’s weakness, that is why he exploits her to the max. Abeer also is at fault to have made Hasaan feel that she is nothing without him & has no self-worth.

Overall, it was a decent episode but the fact that Abeer will seek Aairah’s help in the upcoming episode definitely gave me a reason to tune to it. However, the focus on Junaid & Aairah’s divorce is off putting, like to see it coming from the father was shocking because he got them married for face saving so how won’t their divorce take away his izzat from him, for which he got them married in the first place? I must say Yasir Nawaz extracted some real acting out of all these actors but I think out of sheer courtesy he chose not to direct the senior actors, that is why their acting seems off & forced. I wish the dialogues were a bit better worded because most of the times they sound too unreal & even the actors seemed to be struggling to deliver them. Amina Sheikh, Mansha Pasha & Sami Khan have outdone themselves & Syed Jibran has been successful in evoking sympathy for Junaid’s character. Khudgarz Episode 23 Review – Emotional!

This episode focused on Hassan’s redemption & even though the story has moved forward & is now showing a different perspective & even though everything was shown convincingly, I just felt this void while watching this episode because Aairah was not there.

Hassan came back & Munawwar got to share what he wanted to. Even though Munawwar is guilt stricken, it was unfair that he was now holding Hassan responsible for everything while completely forgetting that he is equally responsible for whatever transpired as well. Munawwar can not not hold himself responsible for whatever happened because firstly, he facilitated Hassan & gave him the edge to do whatever he wanted to & secondly, he chose to overlook Junaid’s niceness & deliberately misunderstood him only to prove his love to Hassan. Munawwar himself was never a role model for Hassan so how can he now blame him for everything!

Hassan realized the grave mistakes that he has committed & he just didn’t know what he could do to make amends. Hassan started off by making Dua’s future secure & then he couldn’t resist getting attached to her because he felt this way, he will be able to put his apology across to Junaid & Aairah. I liked how throughout this episode, this fact kept on surfacing again & again that once the time is lost, no matter how hard you try, you are never at ease as you just don’t know whether whatever you are doing is enough or not & if you will be forgiven or not. Hassan & Munawwar’s discussion about transferring money to Dua’s account seemed just so meaningless because no amount, absolutely nothing could compensate the loss of her parents & even they knew that all this was just superficial as what truly matters will never be hers & they won’t be able to provide it to her.

Abeer finally came & she took Dua with her but even Salma had a change of heart but Abeer stood her ground. It was sad to see Dua being parted from Hassan as he truly grew closer to her & genuinely treated her as his own flesh & blood. The scene where they showed Hassan taking care of Dua was so emotional & sweet. I also liked that Omar’s character was still present & Hassan went back to him to have a heart to heart.

Overall, it was another convincing episode of Khudgarz but I just felt this emptiness because two main characters were gone. I must say, strong direction & phenomenal acting is still keeping this drama worth tuning to because usually when the main characters are gone, viewers don’t really get anything to tune to it. Sami Khan has outdone himself once again & it is so good to see him giving one phenomenal performance after another. Please share your thoughts.

Khudgarz Episode 22 Review – Tragic!

I’m sure no one saw this coming. A few weeks into this drama, quite a lot of viewers started commenting about Junaid’s death but I am sure no one could’ve predicted this about Aairah. This drama took sadness to another level & I am sure this episode must have left quite a lot of viewers heavy hearted too!

This episode focused on how everyone’s life was functioning without Junaid. Munawwar was just depressed because he couldn’t stop thinking about how things went wrong & how he couldn’t do anything to make them right. With every passing moment, Munawwar was reminded of how hard life was going to be because the guilt kept on bringing him down. With Junaid’s death, Munawwar changed as he was forced to re-evaluate what was important in life & he realized that it was high time he reciprocated the love with which Salma treated him all her life. Munawwar not only accepted but admitted that he was a weak man & because Salma’s submissiveness made him feel superior, he always oppressed her.

Munawwar finally got the cheque from the insurance company & all he could think of was how meaningless this amount was because it could never bring back his happiness; both of his sons. Munawwar didn’t have the courage to face Aairah or hold Dua because he held himself responsible for whatever Aairah was going through but because Salma encouraged him, he finally embraced his granddaughter.

Aamir was concerned for Aairah but then again Salma was right, Aairah could never be happy living away from a place where she spent her life with Junaid. Aairah was struggling, she couldn’t cope up with the fact that Junaid was no more. A psychiatrist who did so well professionally was becoming emotionally weak with each passing moment because people around her blamed her for being too happy with her husband. Junaid was her only safety blanket, her only comfort zone & now when he was no more, she just couldn’t stop herself from resorting to those pills which were acting like a slow poison. Aairah knew that after her, Dua won’t be left alone because she will find a mother, a sister, a friend in Abeer & that is exactly what happened. After Aairah passed away, Abeer decided to take care of Dua but despite Munawwar not being in its favor, Salma allowed Abeer. Salma knows that no matter what, Dua will need a mother & a father in her life, which was a space that both she & Munawwar won’t be able to fill.

Finally, Hassan came back only to find out that Aairah was no more. Hassan will now try to do everything to prove his love to Junaid by taking care of Dua but he will now understand how hard it is to he parted with someone you love after Abeer will take Dua away from him.

This episode was realistic & convincing & because of that, it was pretty depressing. Life surely is unpredictable & it is only because of ego, people end up ruining other’s lives & then spend the rest of theirs in regret. While watching Munawwar feeling guilty, all I could think of was how different things would have been if Munawwar hadn’t treated Junaid the way he did, sigh! Please share your thoughts.

Khudgarz Episode 21 Review – Heart-breaking!

I am sure every single viewer must have watched this episode of Khudgarz with teary eyes because not only all the emotions were powerfully portrayed but also because everyone formed such a deep connection with Junaid’s character that his death left us all broken hearted!

Munawwar had a lot to say to Junaid but the sad part was, he was not going to listen to him the way he used to, all his life. Munawwar was left with nothing but regrets & that is what actually happens, when someone you love leaves & when you don’t get a chance to share what you have in your heart. Junaid also left in such circumstances that everyone is left with regrets for the rest of their lives as they know that they wronged him, except Aairah!

Hassan poured his heart out to Omar & even though Omar told him to, Hassan knew he had no courage to face his family, especially Junaid. All the things that Hassan said regarding everything that Junaid used to do for him was so realistic, this is how usually everyone remembers their dear ones when they pass away.

Unfortunately, because Hassan has left such a bad impression on everyone, both Raheel & Abeer were forced to misunderstand him because they felt he was being egoistic even after finding out about Junaid’s death. Abeer & Raheel have seen Hassan at his worst & because they have no idea that that he has changed, they both still believed that Hassan didn’t care much about Junaid or his parents to come see them in such a dark.time.

Abeer’s role during such a tough phase in Aairah’s life is praise worthy. It was also quite good to see Salma having Abeer by her side because she shared what was in her heart with Abeer, otherwise Salma didn’t have anyone who would listen to her. Abeer tried to give Aairah some courage & support but broke down because she couldn’t see her friend suffering. Abeer exactly knew that Aairah could harm herself & in order to fight her depression, she could once again resort to sleeping pills but sadly, Salma didn’t allow Abeer to take Aairah with her which would’ve been so much better for Aairah’s mental health. Rabeea’s reaction after seeing Junaid’s daughter was heart breaking too. So many people were affected by his death, which shows how well & truly loved he was but sadly, Munawwar & Hassan wronged him & before they could apologize, he left!

Well, the lawyer told Munawwar which left him embarrassed. Munawwar taunted Junaid for the money he spent on him but now he got to know that Junaid even after his death paid him back for all that he had done for him. Junaid gave Munawwar back everything that he spent on him & he left this world having a clean slate without owing anything to anyone!

This episode was so so so heart breaking & the spot on direction took every emotion a notch higher too. Amina Sheikh, Sami Khan, Ghulam Mohhiuddin & Mansha Pasha acted phenomenally in this episode. Uf it was so emotional, still can’t get over it. The discussion that the readers had under previous episode’s review showed how deeply this drama, its story & its characters has affected everyone. It is commendable that the team of this drama succeeded in portraying reality in such a convincing manner that we all were reminded of our loved ones who are no more with us! Khudgarz Episode 20 Review – Heart-breaking!

Sigh! This episode was just so heart breaking but then again, the writer Rida Bilal deserves a perfect score for keeping things just so real. I must say the way the reactions of everyone were conveyed was just so realistic because in times like these, you are left with nothing but regrets because life hits you so hard & is always unpredictable!

Junaid imagined living his life peacefully with his child & his wife in this new apartment that he finally chose for himself & his family. He was just so happy because it was something that he knew Aairah wanted. This little apartment actually meant the beginning of new phase in their lives where they could finally be themselves, all settled, all happy but little did they know what life had in store for them.

Hassan finally gave words to every little detail, all the emotions, all those feelings that he experienced during his stay with Omar. Hassan was full of regrets, he knew that he might have lost every single chance of forgiveness because may be everyone will have a hard time believing him that he had actually changed & was ashamed over what he did in the past. Omar encouraged Hassan as he knew that he reached that state mentally & emotionally where he could see his family & apologize for what he did all these years!

Aairah had to go to the hospital & Junaid got to know about it. The moment he started having flashbacks, that’s when I actually thought that things might go wrong & sadly, it turned out to be what we all so didn’t want. Junaid couldn’t make it to the hospital to be able to see his daughter, to see Aairah. Once again, as heart-wrenching as it is, young untimely deaths shake everyone to the core & unfortunately, everyone in this case was a lot more regretful because they all knew how they wronged Junaid, how much they hurt him & played a part in his heart attack!

Be it Rabeea, be it Munawwar, Salma, Raheel, Abeer, Abeer’s mother & lastly Hassan, every single one of them grieved & mourned Junaid’s death because they knew that he left too soon & ended up leaving such a big void in their lives. Munawwar remembered all those harsh words that he said to Junaid few days before his death & guess what, as ashamed, as apologetic he was, Junaid couldn’t hear his apology. Hassan recalled how he never really treated Junaid with respect. Rabeea mourned as she knew how miserable his life was & how he never really complained & when it came to Aairah, her reaction ‘meri abbhi to baat hui thi’ was such a true depiction of how such news is met because no one can ever come to terms with such a young, tragic, untimely & sudden death.

Hassan was on his way to make amends & he was looking forward to meet Junaid the most but unfortunately, Junaid was no more, he was not going to be there to be able to forgive him, to share how hurt he was, to say anything to him. Hassan went back to Omar, in stead of going to his house because he knew he won’t be able to look into everyone’s eyes, he won’t be able to see Junaid all lifeless whereas he imagined meeting him thinking Junaid will put his heart to ease.

This episode was so so so heart breaking, even though the focus was only on Junaid’s death but that entire aspect couldn’t have been covered any other way because everyone’s reaction deserved a proper screen time. The moment where Aairah was waiting for Junaid while talking about how his daughter resembled him was so so heart breaking & emotional, she really didn’t know what was coming her way. It is so going to be a tough journey for Aairah from now on. Acting, writing & direction; absolutely phenomenal. I really don’t know what more to say, as I am actually sad! Khudgarz Episode 19 Review – Beautiful!

Ohkay so, it was yet another intense episode of Khudgarz with powerpacked performances & beautifully written dialogues to its credit. This drama is for sure one of its kind, it just keeps you engaged & I really don’t remember watching a drama like Khudgarz in a long long time where not even a single thing can be picked up as a flaw or a plothole because the execution along with the script has been so strong that it just doesn’t leave a margin for any errors!

Aairah & Junaid moved to Abeer’s place. Even though Aairah always had Abeer to talk to, I actually liked that in the form of Raheel, even Junaid got a friend with whom he could share everything that was running on his mind. Junaid was obviously trying to carry a facade only to show Aairah that he was perfectly alright, so that she doesn’t feel guilty but deep inside he was struggling too. Junaid was suffering from all the ends, he had so many pressures to deal with but because he couldn’t tell it all to Aairah, he just poured his heart out to Raheel. I believe this was the first time Junaid got a chance to complain & speak about all the hardships that life was throwing at him one after the other, because before that, he would always keep his feelings bottled up. Since Raheel also had a baggage attached to Hassan & also because he had firsthand experienced what Abeer was going through when she was associated with him, Raheel knew what Aairah & Junaid must be feeling. Their interactions time to time about different issues were nicely & reaslitically done.

Aairah on the other hand shared her frustrations with Abeer because she was feeling guilty for what Junaid’s life has become after their marriage. It was good that Aairah was also mindful of the fact that everyone around them was just punishing them for being happy. The baby shower that Abeer threw for Aairah was sweet & just what she needed to get distracted from all that was happening in her life.

Well, even though everyone has had a chance to tell Munawwar how wrong he has been but what Amir said to him was spot on. Everything that Munawwar did for Junaid, though started off with a bit of sympathy then turned into his selfishness where he knew that Junaid will take care of the family business for him. It is sad that Munawwar gets so many reminders of how Hassan has failed as a son, yet he chooses to stay thick skinned, thinking he is doing some sort of favor to his son. After Junaid & Aairah left, Munawwar went to their room & had remorse on his face but it doesn’t outbid the cruelty he has treated them with!

Now talking about Hassan, once again, through Omar he got to experience what life actually is about. While looking at the changes Hassan unconsciously is bringing in himself, I was wondering how important role a good company plays on someone. All this while Hassan continued to be unreasonable because Munawwar despite being a father was just being a bad company, a bad influence on him. Even though Hassan spent a very limited amount of time with Omar, but in that time span, he learned what people actually go through & how harsh life can be for some & this is what really forced him to do some thinking. Meeting kids like Raza, Neha, knowing about a child he won’t be able to meet; Omar’s son, all these served as reminders to Hassan that people are faced with bigger tests & trials but he just because got rejected, he wrecked people’s lives apart. For the first time, after feeling Neha’s pain, Hassan realized how deeply all his insults & assaults would have affected Abeer & that’s when he decided to seek for forgiveness. Ah, that scene was absolutely beautiful where Hassan prayed & Omar just stood there watching a new & a better Hassan. I felt relieved when Omar didn’t tell Munawwar about Hassan, because firstly he knew that Hassan wasn’t ready to leave & secondly, he also knew that Hassan needed some more time to finally break free from the negativity that was holding him back from becoming a better person!

I loved this episode like all the previous episodes of Khudgarz. Hassan’s transition has to be one of the best aspects of this drama because it has been shown in such a realistic, non-preachy manner. How many times we come across such incidents or such people whose stories touch us on a very different level & they make us realize that we have to stop & evaluate what’s important, these things remind us that our life should not be revolving around our problems only. In times like these, we get to analyze that we can do better & we can move on. This is why I really like how Hassan, after seeing everything unwillingly got to realize how wrong he was all along. Love it. Sami Khan definitely took the crown in this episode with his phenomenal performance as Hassan; his regrets, his pain, his guilt, everything was portrayed to perfection. Oh well, please please someone tell me that nothing will happen to Junaid. As I typed this, I remembered Salma also had some dialogue referring to Munawwar later realizing who his son was…pleaseeee I don’t want to break my TV, so for that sake, I am, saying a little prayer that nothing happens to Junaid! Khudgarz Episode 18 Review – Intense!

Ohkay so, it is so good to have a drama which doesn’t disappoint. 18 episodes of Khudgarz have been aired & it is still going strong, giving us so much more to explore & look forward to. I am glad we’re getting to see such a drama which has stayed on track & is unfolding just so interestingly, week after week!

Munawwar continued to be unreasonable & his unreasonability touched new sky when ever after finding out that the dead body wasn’t Hassan’s, he told Junaid to leave the house taking Aairah with him. Munawwar might have brought Junaid in his life because he pitied him, but he was also well aware of the fact that when the time will come, he will be able to use Junaid as a punching bag. Even if it wasn’t for Hassan or Aairah or anyone, this is exactly what Munawwar must have done with Junaid because he always had this arrogance & sense of superiority that he did a favor on him!

Aairah had a small accident but even though everything on the surface was fine, both Aairah & Junaid broke from within. Aairah obviously had her reasons that she didn’t want to step back in that house but it was so good to see Junaid finally standing up to Munawwar & his atrocities. Even though Junaid never said a word but the way he barged into the conference room & confronted Munawwar went to show that his patience was tested to the limit & he couldn’t take it anymore as he saw that he almost lost his child & his wife had suffered a lot. Even though it took a lot for Junaid to finally speak up, I am glad he did. Even after Munawwar told Junaid to leave the house, he spoke about Munawwar with so much of respect & affection when he told Aairah how he was raised & how his father helped him in putting everything together in his room. Junaid would have never changed, he would have never confronted Munawwar, he would have continued to bear his atrocities, but the love for Aairah in his heart forced him to bring some changes in himself as he knew that he had to protect not only Aairah but his child as well & also because Junaid felt guilty that his wife was facing the brunt for something she wasn’t even responsible for.

I must say, I love how strategically all the scenes are placed because just when things were getting a bit intense, the conversation between Abeer & Raheel was such a breather, also, it was so good to know that in such a tough time, Aairah & Junaid had Abeer & Raheel’s support. Sadly, Hassan once again tried to harm Abeer by calling Raheel’s mother but fortunately, Raheel tackled everything. Just when I was thinking that the relationship of Abeer & Raheel was lost in the background & their track was fizzled out, this conversation showed that they stil had their thing going on too. To be honest, for a moment I actually thought it could be Munawwar who must’ve contacted Raheel’s mother, I mean when he can pettily meet someone in person to stop Junaid’s hiring, then why can’t he stoop this low either?

Even though Hassan doesn’t realize it, he has started relying on Omar a lot. Right now Hassan might portray that he can still do without the help & support of Omar but deep inside even he knows that he needs Omar’s support. My favorite part of this entire episode was Omar’s contribution in bringing a change in Hassan, without making things preachy or forceful. Omar just shared his past & personal experiences, he just told Hassan a tale or two of what actually people go through. Omar exactly knows that Hassan needs to hear all of this to bring a change in himself but he isn’t trying to force anything on him by giving him lectures, it’s like he minds his own business, but whenever he feels the need, he speaks up.

To be honest, I shed a tear listening to Omar’s story. No wonder why he connects with Hassan & more than that he understands where he comes from because Omar has been there too & he has paid a heavy price for it, therefore he exactly knows that in the course of punishing his family, Hassan is punishing himself as well. Hassan tried to judge Omar by thinking that he couldn’t make his marriage work but what he heard was enough to shake him up. Hassan was already struggling to cope up with what he heard & may be that’s why he allowed himself to go with Omar to the welfare centre but there what he experienced broke the ice, it shattered the walls of his ego & that was enough for Hassan to realize that the world had bigger problems, people had bigger issues that they dealt with. Just because Hassan was so absorbed in his own being, in his own problems all his life, he never really got to experience what life actually is & how hard or cruel it can be for others, that’s why he changed & that too unwillingly. I loved the way Hassan sat in seclusion trying to gather his thoughts & then Omar came to help him put things into perspective. Omar made Hassan realize that life wasn’t over just yet & because he had gone to one side of the spectrum, he could now experience the other side with all his heart too – absolutely beautiful!

My my! It was such a perfect & amazing episode. I love all the conversations & the dialogues of this drama. Yasir Nawaz is not only an ace director, he is a very fine actor as well & I am so glad & want to personally thank him for playing the role of Omar because I am sure no one else could’ve breathed life into this character the way he has done. The writer Rida Bilal should take a bow for bringing such an intelligent script, such complex characters & beautifully written dialogues to the table, she nailed it. All the actors, Amina Sheikh, Salman Saeed, Mansha Pasha, Shaheen Khan, Sami Khan, Ghulam Mohiuddin, Yasir Nawaz, every single one of them has done a marvellous job & Syed Jibran deserves a special mention for even changing his body language like sporting slouched shoulders to fit the character of Junaid. Hats off Team Khudgarz, well done. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khudgarz.

Khudgarz Episode 17 Review – So Far So Good!

Ohkay so, I enjoyed watching this episode like always but I am kind of sad that the double episode deal is over & they will be airing just one episode from now on, which by the way didn’t bring any change in the pace but still, I am used to watching 2 episodes per week.

Munwwar was doing everything to find Hassan but all in vain & sadly the one who ended up facing the brunt for it was Junaid. Munawwar obviously was concerned for his son Hassan but he also isn’t oblivious of his nature to know that he must be alright & he was doing all this to rip his family’s peace apart. I had a feeling that Munwwar was doing all of that with Junaid only to please Hassan, so that later when he comes back, he can proudly tell his son that the one he had a problem with is no longer with them & has lost his status as a family member!

It was sad that Junaid was terminated & I actually thought Munawwar will stop there but he actually seemed just so petty snatching away that job opportunity from Junaid. It is quite disgusting how Munawwar as a father treats other fathers-to-be; first Inayat & now Junaid. Ohkay, he took away Junaid’s job to please his psychotic son but literally to see him making sure that he doesn’t get another job was so sickening, I literally felt my blood boiling in that scene!

It was so nice to see Aairah & Junaid sticking together in this tough time. As I mentioned in the previous review, Junaid was farsighted & just because he stayed quiet & didn’t react to the way he was mistreated didn’t mean that he wasn’t aware of what could be in store for him, so that is why esecially after his marriage, he started planning ahead as he could see how Munawwar & Hassan were turning against Aairah.

It was too obvious right from the beginning that Abeer’s mother was hiding something from her & she eventually found out that her mother is not with her step father anymore. It is good that after living for so many years away from her mother, Abeer finally has her to herself. Seeing Abeer sitting in a car, tired & worried for her mother was a beautiful depiction of what life is all about; new set of challenges every now & then. Everything in Abeer’s life finally fell in its place but she was met with a new problem, which was finding out about her mother’s seperation. It was nice to see Raheel for a brief moment, I wish he had a bit more role to contribute to the story but still I like the to-the-point approach of the writer & director.

I was actually looking forward to some more scenes of Omar & Hassan but for now the focus of the story hasn’t shifted to them completely however, it was good that Omar found out more about Hassan & the fact that his family is looking for him. I like how Omar doesn’t react to Hassan & always has to something completely unexpected which even surprises Hassan, it is nice that Omar is dealing with Hassan so patiently & more so like a friend. I don’t think Aairah’s father would do much for his daughter because Aairah chose not to give him the edge. It was nice that even though Aairah is going through such a tough time, she chose not to rely on her father because she believes in dealing with her issues herself & now that she has Junaid by her side, she feels secured.

Overall, it was a very interesting episode of Khudgarz. Seeing the progress in Aairah’s pregnancy, I feel it was suggested that a few months have passed by & Hassan is still missing, so I would’ve liked if they had shown more of Omar & him to elaborate what changes Omar has brought in Hassan but I guess they will slowly take the story there. Loving this drama so far & can’t wait to see more. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khudgarz.

Khudgarz Episode 15 & 16 Review – Going Strong!

Ohkay so, it was yet another amazing episode of Khudgarz. I love the way the writer is intelligently taking the story forward by addressing so many intricate issues that too in such a convincing fashion. A lot of episodes have passed by to safely say that this is one of the best dramas of the season which has not only been written perfectly, it has been directed to perfection as well & since the actors are nailing their characters, everything is making such an impact!

Inayat realized his mistake & because he had to pay such a heavy price he knew that he had to do whatever he could to make things right. His confession made it easier for Salma & Junaid to see what Hassan actually did.

I liked the conversation between Junaid & Salma, where Salma being a mother was pouring her heart out to the son who she knew listened to her & most importantly understood her. Salma has lived a very meaningless life where she was reminded every step of the way that she was unwanted, unloved in this house. Munawwar literally took her son away from her & she couldn’t do anything because she had no courage or even authority to do so. Salma sympathized with Hassan a bit too much & that gave Junaid a perspective that she wasn’t ready to do anything for him & Aairah. It was sad that Junaid knew what was right but felt helpless in doing anything for himself & Aairah especially.

Aairah was punishing herself & just because she knew that Junaid was weak emotionally, she was getting more & more depressed. I think the way the writer has portrayed depression in this drama is phenomenal, we never really get to see such a realistic & convincing portrayal where it is shown what the person actually feels or goes through & most importantly, what could be the triggering factors. Aairah was relying on the medicines because she felt that was the only way to deal with what she was going through. Junaid’s weak personality was one of the main factors that pushed her to the limit because when it came to Hassan & even Munawwar, Aairah had the courage to face them & fight them on her own but it was Junaid who she needed at this time & he was finding it hard to come to her!

Salma finally decided to do something for herself, for Junaid & for Aairah. Junaid’s disappointment in her was enough to let her know that she had to do what was right. The way Salma took matters in her hand & went to meet Aairah showed that she was done feeling helpless, she was done not being able to help those who were being wronged.

The confrontation scene between Salma & Munawwar was so gripping. Salma finally put things into perspective & made Munawwar realize his mistakes too. When it came to Salma, she put up with him but now she could see that his continuous & blind support was not helping Hassan in anyway & it was in fact encouraging him towards the wrong path. What Salma said was basically a crux of the entire situation that just because Hassan hasn’t seen his father respecting his mother, he doesn’t see any woman worthy of being respected. The way Munawwar stood there speechless basically showed that even he was ashamed & could see that he was not a good influence on Hassan but because his ego is too big, he chose to overlook everything by not making it obvious in front of everyone especially Salma that she had a point.

I think the biggest enemy of Hassan is Munawwar. Yes, Munawwar has all the right to sympathize with his son, he has the right to support him, encourage him, guide him & lead him in the right direction but sadly, the way Munawwar turns a blind eye to all of Hassan’s mistakes is his biggest mistake because that gives Hassan the edge to do whatever he wants to without even bothering about the consequences. Yes, Hassan on his own is quite unreasonable & because he suffered from an injury & lost the love of his life, he can’t see anyone happy but still, what helps him in this negativity is no one else but Munawwar himself. Munawwar has seen that Hassan is causing loss to the business but he chose to focus more on finding faults in Junaid, how unreasonable is that?

I wish it was Junaid who had taken a stand & brought Aairah back but it was Salma & Junaid just stood there like a spectator, but then again, seeing how Junaid has spent all his life, it was befitting that he wasn’t the one who took charge of the situation because he couldn’t change himself drastically in such a short span of time. Hassan left & Aairah came back, she still felt guilty that she was making things difficult for Junaid but then being her husband, the way Junaid comforted her was sweet. It is nice to see Junaid being aware of his shortcomings & knowing that he has to work on himself if he wants to make Aairah feel secured.

So, Hassan came across Omar (Yasir Nawaz), a new entry in the story who right from the beginning gave such vibes that he will end up being Hassan’s counselor, he will mould Hassan’s personality & will show him the right direction. I loved how in such a short span of time & with such few dialogues, the writer introduced Omar’s character to us. Omar quickly & rightly judged Hassan that he comes from a sound background, has anger issues & has lost direction in life. Omar’s reminder to Hassan that he should set himself free of worries about other people being worried about him was spot on, it did strike a chord but because Hassan was preoccupied with the thoughts of his father being worried about him, he couldn’t bring himself to pay heed to what Omar was saying. I think Omar was the friend that Hassan needed, who could tell him when he is right & when he is not. I am actually looking forward to the changes Omar will bring in Hassan’s life. I must say, the way the power of friendships has been shown in this drama is another beautiful aspect. Aairah became a friend to Abeer & brought her out of her miseries, similarly Abeer did exactly the same when Aairah was falling apart & now it looks like Omar will act like a true friend & guide Hassan the best way possible, can’t wait to see that. Also, yes, Aairah & Junaid set a base for their relationship by becoming each other’s friends too.

Overall, I loved this episode too. The way the writer has shown weaknesses & strengths of all the characters is brilliant. Despite showing Junaid as a weak man, the writer has hinted that he is farsighted too because of which he believes in savings & investments. It was nice to see Junaid having someone from the office who was supportive of him. Munawwar was rattling because he could see that his power was slipping away from his hands because those who he believed in oppressing were finally standing up to him. I could see a lot of similarities between Hassan & Munawwar in this episode where they both had big egos & felt empowered by belittling others. Abeer also got a chance to stand in front of Hassan & speak to him about what he did to her. It is amazing how every single episode of this drama gives the viewers so much to talk about. Can’t fault the writing, the direction & the acting. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Khudgarz.

Khudgarz Episode 13 & 14 Review – Brilliantly Executed!

Ohkay so, another week, another very interesting & convincing episode of Khudgarz. The reason why I loved watching this episode was the fact that the writer didn’t leave any loose ends because just when I would think something wasn’t taken care of, the writer made sure that wasn’t the case.

Aairah was suffering. The girl who believed in herself was now doubting everything around her. It was suffocating to see everything going wrong for Aairah where Hassan was winning against her & Aairah being someone who keeps everything to herself was keeping every little detail bottled up. Aairah thought resorting to sleeping pills would be fine but sharing everything with someone wasn’t. Unfortunately, Aairah was left alone, she didn’t have her father, she didn’t have Junaid, no one that would at least listen to her & assure her that they believed in her.

Munawwar made some declarations the moment Junaid came back & even though Junaid decieded to do what Munawwar asked him to, like attending the meetings & fulfilling his duties, he didn’t believe a single word that was spoken against Aairah. For the first time, Junaid gave Munawwar a reality check that no matter what, he can’t deny the fact that Hassan can go to any extreme to prove himself right.

To be honest, just when I was getting ticked off by Salma’s helplessness, the writer surprised me pleasantly by showing that Salma decided to stand up for the right too, despite not having much authority. I love the direction & the scriptwriting of Khudgarz for the fact that the viewers are given a little backstory, just when needed. Munawwar never really treated Salma as his wife & he always made sure to let her know that he was only fulfilling his responsibility, due to which in the very early stages of her marital life, she got to know that she will never be allowed to have a voice or any authority. I liked the fact that the writer showed no matter how much mistreatment a woman puts up with, when it comes to her children, she does what it takes to protect them. Junaid got to hear the truth from Salma & because she knew that both Aairah & Junaid were wronged, she not only sympathized with them but decided to support them as well. I loved it when Salma told Junaid to go to Aairah without paying heed to anything else because she will now take care of everything. It was nice to see that no matter how little she could do, she decided to retaliate to show Munawwar that she won’t keep quiet & won’t put up with his attitude!

I really don’t know what to say about Inayat. Even though I had an idea that he will lose his child but still seeing it happen was heart wrenching. It was sad that in the middle of all this, Inayat was a victim as well where Hassan framed him & used him in such a way that he couldn’t say no as he wanted to provide the best of everything to his wife & child. Sadly, Inayat ended up paying a huge price & what’s worse is that he was at the verge of telling everything to Salma but Hassan stepped in!

Abeer provided Aairah with the support that she needed in such a dark phase of her life. Abeer was doing exactly what Aairah did for her & it was nice to see Abeer being by her side. For obvious reasons, Abeer grew suspicious & felt that Aairah was keeping things to herself. Just when I wondered when will Abeer find out about Aairah’s relation with Hassan, that aspect was taken care of as well. Who would know Hassan better than Abeer? She knew that he was the reason why Aairah was suffering so much & decided to let Aairah know that she knows about Hassan now!

To be honest, seeing Junaid getting stuck in one situation after another was hard for me to digest initially. Also, I was unhappy with the fact that both Aairah & Junaid lost contact with each other whereas they always used to stay in touch through the phone so not sure why their timing wasn’t matching or why they were hesitant in calling when they needed each other the most. Even though Hassan kept telling lies but both Junaid & Aairah chose not to believe him despite having some doubts because they knew what Hassan was capable of. I literally sighed with relief when Junaid finally came to meet Aairah & that’s when I realized how amazingly this drama has been directed & how amazingly all the charcters have been written because while watching this episode, I was feeling uneasy seeing Aairah & Junaid struggling & when they both met each other, I felt happy. This shows how convincingly this script has been executed because of which I as a viewer have formed a connection with the characters & seeing them suffer was making me feel suffocated as well!

It is sad that Inayat paid a price for what he did but I so want Munawwar & then Hassan to be facing the consequences too. Even though Munawwar got a little warning from his employees about Hassan & his activities but still that cold hearted fellow chose to doubt & question Junaid, more like trying to turn him into a culprit while being totally aware that his son wasn’t a saint as well!

Hassan thought he scored a win against Aairah & Junaid. All the reasons he gave showed how sickly twisted he is; full of complexes & jealousy. I am sure he won’t be able to get away with everything so easily but since he has Munawwar’s blind support with him, he feels powerful at the moment!

Overall, this episode was phenomenal like all the previous episodes of Khudgarz. Yasir Nawaz surely has outdone himself & I am impressed with his precise approach towards a script like this where he knows how he has to execute certain things & most importantly when & because of that reason, everything is making such an impact, which is amazing. All the actors; Mansha Pasha, Amina Sheikh, Sami Khan & Syed Jibran have outdone themselves. Also, because Salma chose to speak up, I will say Shaheen Khan did a good job too. Please share your thoughts about this amazing episode of Khudgarz.

Khudgarz Episode 11 & 12 Review – Phenomenal!

Ohkay so, I must say this drama is one intelligent piece of writing which has also been executed intelligently because of which, it leaves an impact on the viewer even after the episode ends. The way the writer has dealt with all the characters while keeping their personalities distinct & strong makes this drama a treat to tune to. I am also glad that Khudgarz has turned out to be quite unpredictable & because the negative character’s secrets are being revealed slowly & steadily, you can’t really foresee what he’s upto!

I felt this time around the writer tried to shed a light on Hassan’s perspective by telling what actually went wrong in his life & may be because of that reason, when I saw him shedding tears, I kind of felt for him. Hassan not only lost the love of his life but the thing that he was passionate about i-e bike riding also caused him pain & turned his world upside down. Hassan had serious injuries but even though he recovered physically from it, the emotional scars haven’t healed yet. His lady love Sara also left him which added more to his woes & I guess in the middle of it all, he saw that his father was going to dance to his tunes as he blindly trusted & over sympathized with him, which now has become a reason behind Hassan’s destruction. It is sad that in stead of showing Hassan the right path, Munawwar goes out of the way to extend support to him even when he knows that his son is or might be wrong. I feel this is the main reason why Hassan has become so bitter because Munawwar has given him the edge that he can do whatever he wants to, to later get away with it!

Aairah was obviously feeling uneasy with Hassan’s attitude as she could feel that he was upto some mischief but she was unable to put a finger on it. She definitely had no idea that Hassan would assassinate her character by blaming her of something she couldn’t even think of!

I must say, the best part of this entire episode was a showdown between Aairah & Munawwar where Aairah not only gave it back to Hassan but also showed Munawwar a mirror for all of his wrongdoings. No wonder Hassan has turned out to be like this because he takes it after his father in both; unreasonability & being wrong. I loved seeing how Aairah stood up for herself & asked Munawwar the reasons as to why he got her married to Junaid when all he had to do was insult her, question her presence in the house & doubt her loyalties & intentions, while still knowing that she could never do something like this!

It was sad that Inayat ended up being a part of Hassan’s plan, I am sure it was because he is in need of money but I don’t know why I have a feeling that he might lose his baby & will then confess about his lies. The way Inayat distanced himself from Aairah & couldn’t meet eyes with her went to show that he was feeling guilty already as he knew what was coming her way. I must say I loved the way they showed that Aairah didn’t mind apologizing from Inayat, this is something which needs to be conveyed & reinforced because even in other dramas, everyone is shown to be insulting the servants left, right & center so it was a nice change!

Junaid & Aairah’s relation on the other hand was also refreshing to see. It was sad that for a moment Aairah doubted Junaid, it showed that when Hassan was negative & impolite, she didn’t pay heed to anything that he said but now that he was posing to be nice & sweet, his whispers overtook her thoughts & she couldn’t see anything beyond that & ended up doubting Junaid’s loyalty. Junaid & Aairah both have proved their love to each other that is why Aairah didn’t let the suspicion get the better of her!

I don’t know but it was a bit unconvincing that Aairah’s father didn’t bother telling his only daughter that he was moving to USA & most importantly, he was selling their house? No matter what, I don’t think any father can be so aloof or so busy to not bother telling his daughter about such an important detail!

I loved the way Abeer gave it back to her nosey colleague, like it was nice to see such a confident & happy Abeer who felt secured after her marriage with someone who respected & loved her. Even though Aairah brought her out of the depression but the one who introduced her to real happiness is Raheel. Abeer’s mother also contacted her & started spending time with her but I have a feeling that she was hiding something from Abeer about her husband as she grew uncomfortable when Abeer asked her a basic question.

Overall, I once again had a great time watching this episode of Khudgarz. Sami Khan took the crown this week with his phenomenal acting, followed by Amina Sheikh who also stole the show. I can’t wait to see the dynamics after Junaid’s return. Rida Bilal & Yasir Nawaz should take a bow for bringing such an amazing drama to the table. It sure is a treat to watch. Khudgarz Episode 1 & 2 Review – A Good Start!

Ohkay so, the production of Six Sigma, writing of Rida Bilal & direction of Yasir Nawaz; Khudgarz is a prime time drama airing on ARY Digital on Tuesday at 8PM. In a nuthsell, intense acting & spot on direction made the first two episodes of Khudgarz worth a watch.

The story revolves around Munawwar’s family which includes his wife (Shaheen Khan) who he has a strained relationship with, his son Hassan (Sami Khan) & a nephew Junaid (Syed Jibran). The main problematic factor in Munawwar’s life is Hassan. Hassan being the only son gets away with everything because he has such sort of personality where no one dares to confront him, except Munawwar but then again, for Hassan even his father is not worthy of his respect.

The main plot was focused on Hassan & his psychological issues. Hassan was once engaged to the love of his life Sara but because she couldn’t cope up with Hassan’s tantrums & chose her parents’ dignity over him, she called their engagement off. Hassan till date hasn’t been able to get over the fact that Sara rejected & insulted him & in stead of reflecting upon his own mistakes, Hassan has let this anger brew inside him which has made him a bitter & angry person. Hassan then got married to Abeer (Mansha Pasha), a loner who has no one in her life except Hassan. Hassan exploits Abeer & her love for him to the fullest because he enjoys the fact that she is full fledgedly dependant on Hassan for emotional & moral support. Even though Abeer is a marketing executive & does well for herself professionally but when it comes to her personal life, she has made it obvious to Hassan that she has no personality, no liking, no disliking of her own & all she wants is him & his validation. Even though Hassan has kept this marriage a secret from his family, Abeer hasn’t been able to convince him to make their relationship public. When it comes to Hassan, he doesn’t mind saying what’s on his mind & what he feels since he doesn’t believe in giving others a chance to explain, speak or be themselves in front of him. Hassan has some serious anger issues & no one has confronted him for that!

Junaid has turned out to be an ideal son for Munawwar & his wife, as he till date hasn’t been able to forget that when his parents passed away, it was his uncle Munawwar who not only brought him to his home but also dedicated his life to raise him like his own son. Junaid is a bit too submissive & he excels in everything, probably because he is conscious of the fact that his uncle has invested so much time, energy & money on him therefore it’s his way of returning him the favors he did for him. Since Junaid has turned out to be so brilliant & obedient, Munawwar chooses to make him a part of the family business which is run by him & Hassan. Junaid likes his batch mate Rabeea & she has a high regard for Junaid as they both are each other’s support system!

Well, Hassan chooses to get married to Munawwar’s best friend Amir’s (Mehmood Akhtar) daughter Aairah (Amina Sheikh), which was basically his family’s attempt of bringing him out of the depression that he went into after his engagement with Sara was called off. Hassan himself chooses to accept the proposal while keeping his family in the dark about Abeer his wife. Aairah is a psychiatrist who is pretty focused on her career & feels passionately about what she does.

Well, things gets dramatic when Abeer threatens to end her life when Hassan tells her that he is getting married. Since Hassan can’t get over the fact that Abeer might do something irrational, he leaves the moment before his marriage & tells his father over a text message that he can not get married. Just because Munawwar knows that Hassan is capable of doing something so irrational, he pleads in front of Junaid & asks hin to get married to Aairah. Aairah on the other hand feels that Junaid has no personality but just because her father pressurizes her, she gives in too & they both get married. Well just because Hassan finds Abeer’s neighbor & colleague (Salman Saeed) pacifying her in her apartment, he leaves while making up his mind that to get back to her, he will continue with his wedding with Aairah but when he reaches the venue, he finds out that Junaid & Aairah are already married. Obviously, things don’t sit well with Hassan & he creates a havoc but Munawwar takes a stand & tells him to accept the reality.

To be honest, during the first half of the episode, when the characters were getting introduced, I was actually quite interested to find out more about them but when the second half of the episode began & the actual story unfolded, I could already see that the story wasn’t something new or special. Yasir Nawaz is known for his craft & there is no doubt about the fact that he as a director elevates the level of the story but I can foresee that Khudgarz is going to be a story about the extreme characters with a prime focus on the villain Hassan.

I wish apart from Hassan, the writer had kept other characters normal & not too extreme where Junaid is a bit tooooo simple & Abeer is a bit tooooo majboor. I have a feeling this drama’s story will revolve around Hassan & his antics which definitely will at some point test the patience of the viewers because in dramas or stories like these, the culprits are given a freehand by the writers & they get away with literally everything because the writers make them too strong to be confronted or defeated by anyone. Another thing that didn’t really sit well with me was how Amir forced this marriage upon Aairah, a daughter he has raised with so much of love & a daughter he has empowered with education that now she is a well-known psychiatrist. I found it disappointing that Aairah’s father literally begged her to get married to Junaid as if he was her last resort? For a woman like Aairah who is so well educated & is perfectly fine without a husband, to be forced into a last-minute arranged marriage with a guy like Junaid citing father’s izzat as an excuse seemed a bit forced & not too intelligent.

I will definitely recommend this drama to those who are interesred in seeing a well-directed serial with some power-packed performances. Another perk is that since they are airing 2 episodes a week, it won’t be dragged to the limit where it might become hard to sit through. Sami Khan, Mansha Pasha & Syed Jibran, all of them did a wonderful job by literally owning their characters & giving them a perfect treatment. Amina Sheikh was perfect as a well-groomed, emotional yet focused & level-headed Aairah. Sami Khan was definitely the star of the show because he was phenomenal as twisted psychotic Hassan, it was surely a nice change seeing him play a character like this who was a naqaam aashiq but had something more to offer than that label. I just hope things don’t become monotonous where Hassan will have an upperhand all the time & others will be too majboor to face him or show him his right place. Let’s see. Please share your thoughts about the initial episode of Khudgarz.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Last Episode Review – Relevant Messages

Although I just wanted this drama to end more than anything else and was quite sure that I had lost interest in all the tracks because everything seemed to be taking too long but surprisingly this last episode turned out to be very emotional and was overall gratifying. Mahi’s character however deserved a better ending. Even though as a whole Khuda Mera Bhi Hai could have been far more powerful if the writer delved deeper into the intricacies relating to the medical aspect of having such a child in a subtle manner but as a whole it managed to highlight issues which are rarely talked about on television. Also, the prejudice and hatred Noor himself faced as a child wasn’t highlighted in the drama perhaps because the makers did not want to put a child star in that position, which is understandable. It can safely be said that despite its glaring flaws Khuda Mera Bhi Hai questioned stereotypes like no other drama ever has. It had positive role models and even though some of the messages lost their effectiveness because of the constant repetition but this last episode made up for that by summing up the real purpose behind the drama.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai did not only have one hero but it had a lot of positive and strong individuals both men and women who worked together to make Noor’s journey a success. Zain’s character was also etched-out brilliantly; he wasn’t a negative person but someone who wasn’t strong enough to accept someone like Noor. This went to show that not everyone can do what Mahi did but when someone decides to stand by their child like this then God helps them through people like Mikael and everyone else who supported Mahi. I must say though that there were a lot of times when Mahi’s character and her efforts were relegated to the background and Mikael was shown as someone who played a much bigger role in Noor’s life.

It was definitely great watching Aisha Khan play this role which had a lot of room for performance. It was also good to see a strong woman who had a heart of gold but towards the end the way the viewers were forced to feel sorry for Mahi’s character was completely unnecessary. Sanam’s character had to be one of the most intelligent female characters we have seen in a long time. Marium Saleem did complete justice to her role and I am looking forward to seeing more of her. Saba Hameed is an iconic actress who clearly lives and breathes every role she plays, another strong woman in this play, who raised a daughter who made a huge difference. Aly Khan, Imran Ashraf, Mahmood Aslam and Syed Jibran performed their roles brilliantly too which is why it was always easy connecting to their characters. I did however feel like Zain was forgiven too easily! This was also one of those very few dramas with positive and open-minded men.

In my opinion Furqan Qureshi and Adnan Shah Tipu deserve tons of appreciation for choosing to play these unconventional roles and for bringing out the best in them. Noor’s speech was right on point and it summed up the most important message in the drama – how can we reject someone who is Allah’s creation just like every other creature on earth? If Allah has given them life then the society should accept them and make room for them. Khuda Mera Bhi Hai could have been one of the best dramas of this year if it wasn’t stretched so much. While making these dramas the producers should hold the purpose behind such plays dearer than commercial aspects. Having said that, I do appreciate and acknowledge the fact that Khuda Mera Bhi Hai dared to talk about a topic which is very relevant and hopefully we will see more dramas addressing this issue in the future too.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episodes 1 to 3 Review – Interesting & Fast Paced

After watching Mann Mayal I vowed to skip any drama which starred Aisha Khan but here I am watching and reviewing a play in which Aisha Khan plays the leading role. I must say that she has redeemed herself by choosing to play a strong role in Khuda Mera Bhi Hai and so far she has done complete justice to the character assigned to her. It is always refreshing watching dramas which attempt to achieve a higher purpose especially when they manage to do so with clarity. So far only 3 episodes of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai have gone on air but they have proved that this drama is off to a strong start mainly because of the variation in characters, the strong female lead, addressing an issue which isn’t addressed very often and also because it is putting some powerful messages forward with utmost precision. The very first scene of the first episode pretty much summed up Mahgul’s character. When she asked Sanam’s husband how he would feel if his wife hit him like that and later on the way she made sure that Sanam does not go back to that man went to show that she was not the sort of person who would compromise when she is supporting someone who has been wronged. Her stance was clear and her personality introduced perfectly in these three episodes. Her conversation with Zain about her own personality in the previous episode and whatever she said to her mother in law in this episode showed she was outspoken and uncompromising when she knew she was right.

Although Mahgul is a strong woman but at the same time she is caring, loving and sensitive. She is practical but not heartless or insensitive, these aspects of her character’s personality make it more likeable and human at the same time. Mahgul’s relationship with her mother Savera (Saba Hameed) has also been established well in these three episodes. Both these women are free of any kind of insecurities. Mahgul’s mother has no shame in admitting that she still loves her husband even though she chose not to live with him any more because he was already married and never told her. He also hit her when she confronted him and that is when she decided to part ways. She is another strong woman who knows what she needs to do to protect herself but at the same time is still in love with her husband and never took divorce from him. The viewers haven’t been introduced to Mahgul’s father yet. Saba Hameed fits like a glove in the role assigned to her, just the way she always does.

Zain Hassan’s (Syed Jibran) side of the story started with Zain landing in Pakistan from New York. He is the son of Mahgul’s employer (Mehmood Aslam), who is exceptionally fond of Mahgul. Zain’s mother Arshi (Irsa Ghazal) however does not like Mahgul at all and for now she is playing the zalim Samaj. Mahgul however is not the kind of bahu who would let such a mother in law influence her in any way. Zain takes his time knowing Mahgul, ultimately falls for her and the attraction is mutual. Syed Jibran and Aisha Khan’s on screen chemistry has made Mahgul and Zain’s track more interesting. Zain and his brother Zahir (Imran Ashraf) both do not agree with the way their mother looks at things. Their father too does not agree with his wife but he respects and loves her. Zain has been shown as a mature and responsible person.

Tonight’s episode in particular was fast-paced. Zain and Mahgul did not just get married but they also had their first baby and with this latest development, the real story will start. The last scene of tonight’s episode clearly suggested that this is going to be a story of an intersex child. The pace of this episode also showed that the writer did not want to waste time showing family politics but the main focus was Zain and Mahgul’s relationship. The way Zain took care of Mahgul during her pregnancy went to show just how special this baby was for him. The timeline was slightly confusing in tonight’s episode but overall it was an impactful episode with no filler scenes and it ended at a note which gave the viewers a reason to tune into Khuda Mera Bhi Hai next week.

So far this drama is completely free of clichés. The biggest cliché the writer has managed to avoid is class difference. Usually in dramas the biggest issue is that either the boy or the girl is not from the same class but here Zain’s mother has an issue with Mahgul’s personality and not her status. While we have modern women like Mahgul, her mother and Sanam, we also get to see Zain’s mother’s character who has shocking double standards. She is modern and strong headed yet she insists that such a woman can never make a good wife. The production values of the play are impressive and so is the picture quality. The director has kept the pace of the drama steady till now and has kept all the scenes short and to-the-point.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 9 Review – Truly Refreshing

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai gets better with every passing episode. It has given the viewers characters which are easy to relate to and are not black and white with the exception of Arshi of course! Zain’s character in particular is extremely well-balanced. Although he is disillusioned and cannot seem to accept his child but he knows that he cannot completely disown this child, he has not moved on but is still trying and most importantly he still loves his wife. The relationship between Zain and Mahi too is far more realistic than what we see in many other dramas in which the love most often just evaporates and then the story is taken forward by showing one misunderstanding after another which makes the situation worse. The writer has not banked on misunderstandings or major flaws in characters to take the story forward.

This drama also breaks many stereotypes which we see on our television screens quite often. The actions of the leading characters are not dictated by their egos but they have a more logical approach towards everything which is most often the result of emotional attachment. Also, the confident women in Khuda Mera Bhi Hai are quite capable of being kind and sensitive. Another aspect of this play which deserves to be appreciated is that the characters is shown plotting and planning against each other. Arshi is the only such character in the play but she is never shown getting what she wants. On the contrary her husband and her sons do whatever they think is right.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 9 Review - Truly Refreshing

It is good to see Aly Khan playing a different role. He has played the role of a well accomplished millionaire before too but usually he is seen playing a rigid person who does not compromise on his principles. Mikael seemed like a sensitive and caring man who was also down-to-earth. The promos also suggest that there is much more to his character than what we saw in this episode. Everyone’s reaction to Bubble Mian was one of the finest scenes of this episode. It was the most emotional scene of this episode because it was executed so well. Everyone’s reaction was perfectly timed and a true example of how brilliant performances by everyone involved in a scene can make it a complete success. I cannot praise Adnan Shah Tipu’s performance enough. He is translating an extremely difficult role on screen almost effortlessly. It is truly refreshing to watch a drama with so many different kinds of characters especially because these character are well-defined and they have been portrayed brilliantly. Everything that Mahi said to the principles was right on point and it was the kind of scene that givea the viewers tons to think about as well.

Zain’s father’s character and his relationship with all the other characters in the play was once again shown impeccably. He supported Sanam and Zahir because he knew they did the right thing but at the same time he understood why someone like Arshi would react in this manner and was also there for her. Noor’s story was taken forward in this episode with Mahi facing trouble getting Noor enrolled in a school. Right now Noor’s struggles are being shown through Mahi and the writer has managed to send a loud and clear message about the attitude of people in general towards such children. At the same time the writer has shown people like Sanam, Mahi’s mother and even Bubbly who are willing to go the extra mile for this child. It would have been nice if the viewers would have shown the grandfather (Zain’s father) coming to see Noor since he is definitely not the kind of person who would have a tough time accepting his grand child no matter what.

Overall, this episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was touching and engrossing. I am completely hooked to this play and I can’t wait to find out how the story unfolds in the upcoming episodes.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 8 Review – Logical And Engrossing

This episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was equally well-executed as rest of the episodes. The best aspect of this drama so far is that everything is being covered logically and the viewers get to see variety of characters on screen. Also, the overall feel of the drama is quite different from what we usually see in dramas, there are hardly any situations or even dialogues which would have a done-to-death feel to them. Overall this is a very well thought out play with the exception of the fact that no one has discussed the entire issue with a professional who is an expert in this field. The writer completely overlooked this particular aspect which would have answered many questions for the viewers. The drama so far shows how the birth of Noor has effected everyone and it also covers the struggle both the parents are going through but for now it is not covering the more “technical” aspect of the entire issue. The viewers however can safely conclude on their own that Noor’s problem is permanent. Another aspect of this drama which makes every episode worthwhile are the relationships between all the characters and also the superb performances by the entire cast.

This episode showed Mahi taking control of her life once again and at the same time it showed how Mahi and Zain felt about each other. I love the approach the writer has taken while showing the relationship between Mahi and Zain after the separation. Also, the way Mahi turned this situation into an opportunity for Bubbly was beyond amazing! Two scenes in particular showed how much things had changed over the course of a year or so. The breakfast scene in Zain’s house showed that the family had driven apart mainly because of Arshi’s attitude. There was a time when Zain did not take his mother’s negative attitude seriously but now he does not have the energy to put up with the negativity. Mahi and her mother’s scenes in tonight’s episode showed that these tough times had only brought these two strong women together. It is always great watching a mother standing by her daughter and it is even more so when the actors playing these roles give flawless performances and have amazing on-screen chemistry. Aisha Khan and Saba Hameed compliment each other in all the scenes which makes their strong bond and beautifully written dialogues truly effective. Zain and Mahi both have changed in a few months but in a completely different way. Mahi’s conversation with Sanam was another one of those scenes which went to show Mahi’s open-mindedness. This drama has some really strong women who are standing by one another and balance out Arshi’s negativity which is my least favorite part of this drama.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 8 Review - Logical And Engrossing

Zahir’s proposal did not come as a surprise. It was good to see Sanam wondering how Mahi would feel about the way she felt about Zahir. Sanam and Mahi’s relationship so far has also been a terrific part of this drama. Similarly H’s character is also positive and balanced. His scenes with Mahi always put a smile on my face; he is caring and sensible which makes one wonder how he managed to spend all those years with a woman like Arshi!

Apart from the medical aspect of the situation, the writer has done complete justice to this script and the director has executed this script seamlessly. Also, Khuda Mera Bhi Hai is one of those few dramas in which all the actors involved are giving their best performances. Most of the characters in this play have a story to tell and you feel an instant connection with them without even trying and that in my opinion is the real beauty of this drama.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 7 Review – Extremely Poignant

This was another emotional episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai which once again showed the feelings of the main leads in particular faultlessly. Although Mahi was the star of the show tonight and undoubtedly the best thing about this drama so far, but I must say that I absolutely love the way Zain’s feelings have been translated on screen too. Somehow I find it impossible to dislike Zain the way I would normally dislike a father who is not able to love his own child mainly because of the fact that the writer and the director have done a commendable job of showing that this is something beyond Zain. They have told Zain’s side of the story just as honestly as that of Mahi. Mahi’s love towards her child is relatable not only because she is his mother but also because Mahi has always been shown as someone who will never abandon anyone who needs her. She did not abandon her best friend and a kid who needed her help therefore it is only natural for her to feel this way about her child who she knows will need her help and support for being accepted by the society. Her baby has only been in the world for a few days but he has already been rejected by his own father and immediate family members. This would be added incentive for someone like Mahi to do something extraordinary. Mahi’s character has been beautifully etched-out; she is strong and sensible. It is always great watching dramas with strong female leads but watching a mother fight for her child is even more endearing since very often in our dramas we see heartless and helpless mothers who are impossible to relate to.

Mahi’s final conversation with Zain before she leaves the house was my favorite scene of tonight’s episode. Aisha Khan’s acting in particular was exceptional in that scene and the dialogues were right on point. Everything Mahi said went to show that she was out of the emotional phase and she was back to being herself, someone who did not let her feelings cloud her judgment of the situation she was in. She did not hate Zain for feeling disgusted around their child but she understood that their way of thinking was entirely different and she hoped that some day Zain will learn to accept their child. Zain feels like a victim because he thinks he has been wronged, he feels he is the one who needs Mahi’s support more than their child but Mahi does not feel that way at all. Mahi knows she is this child’s mother and she has to do whatever she can to make him feel loved and wanted.

fotorcreated

This drama has two mothers, Mahi and her mother, who are strong and sensitive at the same time and then there is also Arshi who has been shown as a bully who feels sorry for herself very often because people around her do not give her their approval! Although Zain is not as negative as his mother but he has a few things in common with his mother. He is not very open-minded even though he has a lot of exposure just like his mother. Arshi got plenty of screen time in this episode as well. Irsa Ghazal is a versatile actress who is doing exactly what was expected from her and I love her dress sense but I can’t help but wonder why Arshi is being shown saying the same things repeatedly to different people! Her scenes are highly repetitive and her character is one-dimensional.

The writer and the director of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai have paid attention to detail which makes it easier for the viewers to relate and connect to the characters. There are many dramas in which the viewers are constantly trying to figure out how a character feels about a particular situation and a lot is left to the viewer’s imagination which can at times be confusing but in this drama you get to see and hear every conversation which you would want to. The conversation between Mahi and Zain’s father was one such exchange which for a change reflected Mahi’s fears which she did not talk about with anyone else, not even her best friend. This man is not just her boss and father in law but also someone she can show her vulnerability too, with everyone else Mahi is a strong person therefore she does not share her worries with anyone else.

fotorcreated

This was one of my favorite episodes of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai, it was logical, emotional and everyone performed really well. This is turning out to be one of those rare plays in which all the actors are completely into their roles and giving their best performances. Apart from the loud make-up everything else about this play is perfect so far.

The preview of the next episode showed Mahi coming back to work, it also showed Zahir proposing Sanam and Mahi trying to fight her fears. I am eagerly looking forward to the next episode.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 6 Review – The Reunion

This was the episode most of the viewers were waiting for because tonight Mahi finally made up her mind and took the bold step which wasn’t an easy choice but one which was completely in line with Mahi’s character. The opening scene was strong; a conversation with another mother who had chosen to stand by her child instead of abandoning him gave Mahi another perspective, one which she could identify with much more than everything else she was told by people around her after her child was born. The most emotional scene of this episode was the one in which Mahi goes to pick her baby. Adnan Shah Tipu deserves an award for his performance in this play; the character he is playing isn’t an easy one to translate on screen but he is pulling it off faultlessly. Mahi’s conversation with Sanam however could have been shown in a better way. Mahi was always there for Sanam but Sanam completely disappeared from Mahi’s life after she had the baby and now the conversation they had wasn’t one between too best friends but it was one between a therapist and her client. This entire conversation could have been equally productive and far more emotional if Sanam came to Mahi to help her explore her feelings and they talked like close friends.

In this episode the viewers heard from Mahi directly that she gave her baby away only because she was not given enough time to take a decision on her own. Now that she was at her mother’s place and away from all the pressure, she managed to figure out what she really wanted. She decided to take her baby back and that was the most poignant scene of this episode. Mahi’s conversation with Zain was extremely well-written as well, it was so well-thought-out that the viewers could not help but understand how difficult this situation was for the parents. Zain asked Mahi whether their baby was a boy or a girl, a question which everyone asks parents on the birth of their newborn baby. Answering this question was going to be the first most difficult step in Mahi’s life. While this scene was on point, the scene in which Mahi was sitting with her mother confused me about the timeline. The baby who was a newborn few hours back was now at least 3 months old and I actually watched this episode again to see if there was a ticker somewhere telling the viewers how much time had passed in between! Also, the conversation between Mahi and her mother clearly suggested that this was right after she brought the baby back. I understand that these are tiny details but these details matter a great deal. It would have been better if the baby wasn’t shown instead of showing a much bigger baby which caused confusion. I am wondering now how much time has elapsed since Mahi had this baby. This scene ruined the flow of this episode for me and the emotional connection was broken too.

fotorcreated

Zain’s state of mind is completely different from that of Mahi. While Mahi thinks she can raise this child and protect him, Zain thinks he does not have the courage to accept this child. Zain’s unwillingness to accept his child was shown through different scenes, not just this the scene in which he goes to see Adnan Shah’s character went to show that he was disgusted by such people. Once again Adnan Shah nailed the scene in which he tells Zain that he was just another man who could not look beyond the obvious and one who was a coward. Many of the conversations tonight also suggested that nobody knew that leaving the baby was Zain’s idea alone.

So far no one has talked about the choices this baby has medically and if he has none then that should be mentioned too. A child who is “special” or different than others in any way at all isn’t raised like any other new born baby therefore it would be nice if the viewers get to see Mahi talking to medical experts about her baby’s situation even if that is covered in one scene and the viewers don’t hear the conversation entirely. This issue is not an easy one to handle and I hope that the writer has done the research needed to write about such a topic.

Aisha Khan’s brilliant performance is being spoiled by her loud make-up which looks especially odd in this situation. Someone who is this upset and lost does not have the time to make these hairdos and put on such heavy make-up. I understand that a little styling and some make-up is a basic requirement but that is not the case here.  Overall, this episode was emotional just like all the previous episodes of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai. The preview of the next episode suggested that Mahi will ultimately have to make a choice and she will choose her baby over her husband.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 5 Review – Slow But Emotional

This episode had some powerful performances to its credit but tonight’s episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was more of a filler episode which was high on emotions but did not have much to offer in terms of story development. I had absolutely no trouble relating to what Mahi was going through, Aisha Khan’s brilliant performance and effortless portrayal was right on point but there were many times when I was wondering what is taking Mahi so long to figure out that she has the option of raising this child on her own. It is not an easy decision to make for any mother but then Mahi was never shown as a conventional woman. The scenes covering Mahi’s state of mind were poignant without a doubt and she will eventually come to a decision which will be her very own but in my opinion it would have been so much better if she made that decision in this episode. Also, watching every single person including Mahi’s mother, Zain’s father and even Sanam accept this decision like there was no other choice was somewhat awkward too.

I have read many interviews of people born with such birth defects and most of them never really fit in a family and end up with people who are like them but even then it is difficult to digest the fact that Mahi did not protest enough considering that she never thought of consequences when she was making difficult decisions for others. The fact that Mahi decided to take responsibility for a girl who was not even related to her went to show that she was not afraid of taking responsibilities and was quite independent. This side of Mahi’s character which we saw in the previous episode and this one is quite different from the Mahi we were all introduced to. She will eventually bounce back but this should be done soon otherwise the team of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai will only be relying on the emotional aspect of the situation and not focusing on a more plausible narrative.

Arshi got way more screen time than she should have in this episode. Her character is not likeable and most of her scenes conveyed the same message therefore they were repetitive. It was shocking watching Mahi’s mother leave the first time without meeting her daughter and I expected an emotional outburst when she came to meet Mahi but the scene was much more subtle, which isn’t always a great idea. Watching this entire family giving up on this newborn baby because he was not like them was truly upsetting and heart-wrenching.

I am all for directors who pay attention to details which make a drama esthetically pleasing but sometimes “compromising” on such aspects can help a situation. While Aisha Khan’s acting was truly impressive in tonight’s episode, her perfectly styled hair and heavy make-up stood out like a sore thumb. Syed Jibran’s matching shoes when he was sitting next to the pool and crying was not a coincidence either. I did not understand the conversation between Zain, his father and Zahir next to the swimming pool. How did they know what they said to Mahi?? All the actors in the play including Mehmood Aslam were wearing a lot of make-up in tonight’s episode. There was generally too much focus on making the actors look good although their lives are completely chaotic at the moment. Adnan Shah Tipu is one of the most versatile and talented actors in our industry and once again in this drama he has proven he can perform any role at all effortlessly.

Although this episode wasn’t my favorite episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai but I must admit that it was emotionally engaging, especially the scenes which covered Mahi’s state of mind were heartrending despite of the heavy make-up. The preview of the next episode suggested that things will take a turn for the better in the next episode. I am waiting for Mahi to take a decision so that we can watch fighting for her baby.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 4 Review – Heart-Rending

This was an amazing episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai; extremely emotional, somewhat upsetting and brilliantly directed. It was the kind of episode which keeps you glued to your television screen and every single scene takes your breath away mainly because of the way the narrative is being handled and the manner in which the director kept all the scenes from being over-dramatic yet they were extremely effective. Tonight’s episode belonged to Aisha Khan right from the get-go; she nailed every single scene and made even those scenes which weren’t easy to translate on screen look effortlessly effective.

The birth of the first child in particular is the happiest moment for any married couple and for their families as well but unfortunately sometimes even this happiness is not guaranteed. Tonight’s episode was a rude reminder of the fact that having a child who is neither male nor female can turn this happy moment into one of the most difficult and painful moments for the parents because a mother has to face the kind of challenge which Mahgul faced tonight and a father might make decisions which a father just should not think about making. In my opinion Zain’s reaction was portrayed on screen realistically, no father should do what he did – no matter what, a father should never give his child away like this – having said that, usually men develop their bond with their babies after they are born therefore sometimes it is relatively less difficult for them to take such steps instead of facing the situation. Mothers on the other hand are connected to their children even before they are born and therefore this attachment does not start but it grows when the child comes into this world. We saw a strong woman like Mahgul giving her child away not because she isn’t strong any more but because she has not come into terms with what has happened just yet. Mahgul was shown as someone who would even take a stand for people who weren’t even related to her, she has won many battles but this is one situation she was not ready for and I am waiting for the time when she will realize that she cannot give away her child like that. I hope that Mahi takes a stand for her child and it isn’t just her condition that persuades Zain to bring his child back.

While Savera took her time coming out of the shock and was unable to be there for her daughter because of her state of mind, Mahi was surrounded by people who did not exactly support her in any way. Arshi’s character was so dark for a reason; she was the one who persuaded his son to give his child away. If her character was not so negative and her hatred for Mahgul wouldn’t have been so strong, it would have been difficult to relate to her reaction in this entire scenario. Only a person like her could suggest someone like this but watching Zain go along with the idea was truly shocking. The fact that Arshi’s character is detestable is a proof that Irsa Ghazal is doing complete justice to her character.

While Syed Jibran’s look after the child was born went well with the entire situation, Ayesha Khan’s loud make-up did not quite fit in except for the scene in which they pick the child from the hospital. Ayesha Khan’s acting however in this entire episode was compelling and credible. She made the most of her expressive face and her body language was highly impressive especially in the scene in which Mahgul tries to hand over the baby to Zain and also the last scene in which she faints. The director did complete justice to all those scenes in which Mahgul struggled and also those scenes in which she was unsure and willing to go with whatever Zain suggested to her. Although I really appreciate Syed Jibran’s versatility and acting but in this particular episode he did not have the screen presence and wasn’t half as impressive as Aisha Khan. Aisha Khan made it very easy for the viewers to relate to what Mahi was going through.

The preview of the next episode showed the aftermath of the developments in tonight’s episode and its effect on Mahi and the relationship between Mahi and Zain. I am waiting to see how long it will take for Mahi to realize that she needs to get her child back.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 24 Review – Sadness Overloaded!

The only saving grace of this drama right now is its direction and steady performances by all the actors involved other than that the script has lost its direction completely and the slow pace is testing the patience of the viewers. While it was good to see Zain finally acknowledging his mistake and Arshi asking him to accept Noor, I am beyond sick and tired of watching writers rely on Cancer and heart attack over and over again for making characters have a change of heart or to make the viewers feel sorry for someone.

Honestly speaking Mahi’s character lost its charm a long time back but this had to be the final nail in the coffin! Mahi was shown as a strong woman who was more of an inspiration and an ideal, putting her in this situation goes to show that a strong woman does not deserve a happy ending! I am not talking about the disease but the fact that she might not get to live a happy life with Mikael and she will most probably die a “heroic” death gives all the wrong messages. This isn’t the first time in a Pakistani drama that a woman whose husband left her and she toiled hard to bring up her child ended up dead in the end! A woman like Mahi deserves much more than sympathy, she could have been shown as one of those rare women in our dramas who gets married to a good man and get over the useless husband who never deserved her in the first place and lives a fulfilling life. I hope I am wrong and Mahi does not die but Mahi’s dialogues certainly suggested that she will not survive. She might leave her legacy but she will not live to be happy!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 24 Review - Sadness Overloaded!

The worst part of this drama right now is the overall feeling of impending doom which is part of every single episode and has completely taken over all the positivity. Also, it was really strange when Zahir did not share this tragic news with Sanam first and as if this was not enough this episode did not have a single scene which showed Sanam and Mahi talking about her disease! To be honest, right now I feel more for Mikael than anyone else! He is the real hero here and someone who deserves to be happy more than anyone else. I would also love to see Noor rejecting his father because it would be truly unfair if Zain is accepted by him immediately.

This episode was another one of those episodes which just make you wish that this drama would end soon! There were a lot of filler scenes, many emotional dialogues which failed to have an impact and a lot of rona dhona! Am I the only one who is bored of watching all these characters suffer for the longest time now! I have never watched so many unhappy people in a drama before. What the viewers need right now are some light moments without any rona dhona and an ending which would prove me wrong! I would love to see Mahi surviving in the end and leaving Zain’s memories behind and I also think that Zain should not be forgiven.

Am I the only one who feels for Mikael more than Mahi at this point? How many of you watched this episode? Don’t forget to share your thoughts about it.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 23 Review – Slow-Paced

Although this episode of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was slightly better but the fact is that there is nothing much to explore in any of the tracks now and the drama should come to an end soon. Noor became a parent in this episode, Sanam probably took the first major step towards bringing about the drastic change in Arshi and Zain, and Kashmala revealed her true feelings. I must say that Kashmala’s feelings were covered in a much better way than all the other tracks. This track definitely has the surprise factor and her attitude made a lot more sense when she confessed that she was doing all this on purpose. Noor’s reaction to Sona’s death and many of the conversations later on made it sound like all these people saw this tragedy as a blessing in disguise! Although, I am certain that the writer did not want to convey this message but the dialogues definitely gave the wrong message! Also, no one talked about reporting this incident to the police or about catching the perpetrators. It was definitely good watching Noor accept and love a child like that and watching him give a child an identity was touching but it would have been so much better if a central character was not brutally killed by the writer in order to give this ‘gift’ to Noor.

Mahi’s nikkah got delayed yet again and she finally decided to visit the doctor! I would be terribly disappointed if she has some fatal illness because those viewers who have been watching Mahi go through hell for the longest time now deserve better. Also, so far this drama has broken a lot of stereotypes and showing Mahi getting married to Mikael and living a happy life would be far more novel than showing her dying of all the stress she took her whole life. A woman like Mahi should be celebrated but if she dies then the writer will be asking the viewers to feel sorry for her, which would be clichéd! One of the best moments in this drama was Mahi and her mother sharing a laugh! It was a nice break from watching these characters sacrificing or suffering!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 23 Review - Slow-Paced

Sanam’s conversation with Zain suggested that Zain might just accept Noor at some point, I hope it happens soon! I must say that Sanam’s character has to be one of the most steady and positive characters in this play. Mariam Saleem has brought out the best in her character, her dialogue delivery and body language has always been on point. The scene in which Sanam and Arshi were strolling by the poolside was hilarious because that was the most inappropriate place for someone in Arshi’s condition to walk!

This episode would have been far more impactful if the dialogues were more relevant and powerful. The drama needs to end soon because the slow pace of the drama is the main reason why it does not give you a lot to look forward to. Khuda Mera Bhi Hai has served its purpose therefore dragging the drama now is simply putting those viewers off who enjoyed the drama for 15+ weeks.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 22 Review – Going Around In Circles

There was a time, not very long ago, when I used to wait for this drama to go on air mainly because of the fact that I never had any trouble connecting to all the characters in this drama. Another reason why Khuda Mera Bhi Hai was one of my most favorite plays for a long time was that it had a lot of characters which defied stereotypes. It was also one of those very few dramas in which working women were not shown as heartless women! For the past few weeks however the story has been stagnant. The pace of the drama has slowed down and a lot of what we have been seeing is more repetitive than anything else. Mikael and Mahgul’s track is being dragged to the limit and Noor’s success story doesn’t have the same impact now which it had before. A lot of scenes in every episode are choppy as well, that was always the case but now that the story lacks substance and has slowed down these flaws are standing out more than ever.

Arshi and Zain are also taking their sweet time admitting that they were wrong and they haven’t accepted Noor yet. I am sure it is something which will eventually happen and I have a feeling that it will happen when Mahi is either dying or dead! I would hate to see Mahi’s character dying in the end because that would most certainly not be a gratifying ending. The writer laid down the foundations of all the tracks flawlessly but the way these tracks are being handled now is not impressive at all. In Zain’s house everyone who hurt Mahgul in any way is paying the price but their remorse has no value at all since no one has apologized to Mahi or accepted Noor. It would have been better if Zain met Mahi tonight and apologized to her. Kashmala’s state of mind makes absolutely no sense since technically Zain and Kashmala have been married for more than 10 years (at least) now! In all these years they did not have a kid yet it had no effect on their marriage and now after so many years Kashmala feels Arshi will not accept her because she can never give Zain a child! The timeline in this drama is very confusing!

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 22 Review - Going Around In Circles

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai has a strong message but this message has been repeated so many times that it no longer has the kind of impact which it did before. In every episode Noor is shown facing and fighting with the same issues and every time he is equally disturbed. I think it is about time that Noor was shown as someone who had learned to deal with these issues in a more mature manner.

The preview of the next episode showed more of the same! All the tracks in the story have been dragged so much that right now I am looking forward to the last episode more than anything else! I must say that I am sorely disappointed in this drama because it has been stretched beyond limit.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 21 Review – Emotional But Should End Soon

There were quite a few scenes in this episode which were intense and Noor/Sania track was wrapped up intelligently. Noor’s emotional outburst and later on showing him admit his mistake not just in front of his mother and Mikael but also Sania was the most endearing part of this episode. The fact that he realized his mistake although this wasn’t entirely his fault went to show that Mahi and Mikael had raised him well. I did feel however that Mikael and Mahi were being too harsh with him but Mahi’s reaction was definitely more spontaneous than anything else. This was a big step forward for Noor because with this latest development he faced another huge shortcoming in his life and decided that he could still make the most of the situation by ensuring that Sania stayed in his life as a friend. Noor’s character is a very difficult one to translate on screen. The scene in tonight’s episode which covered Noor’s reaction to everything that happened required tons of confidence and Furqan Qureshi definitely did complete justice to this scene. Although his voice keeps on fluctuating but otherwise he has breathed life into Noor’s character which is why I have always been able to connect to his character. The actress playing Sania’s character is also nice looking and she acts well too, I am certain we will be watching her in more dramas soon.

Mahi and Zain’s chance meeting suggested that even today they had feelings for each other. While it is easy to understand why Zain was never able to move on, I can’t relate to Mahi’s feelings for him. Zain wronged Mahi in more ways than one therefore deep inside he must feel guilty but Zain gave Mahi tons of reasons to get over him and move on. In my opinion the writer and the director still want viewers to think that Zain might come back to Mahi. I would love to see Zain apologizing to Mahi and accepting Noor but Mikael deserves to be with Mahi more than Zain. In this episode Zain finally realized that his mother never wanted his happiness but she only wanted to control his life. For the first time the viewers also watched Arshi accepting her mistakes and realizing that she did not deserve to be loved! Better late than never! I have to admit that I am not too impressed with Irsa Ghazal’s acting in this drama because there are times when it seems like she is trying too hard. I absolutely love Hassan sb’s character, it is refreshing watching a man stand by his woman even though she has so many flaws. He loves his wife unconditionally and has always been there for her.

Khuda Mera Bhi Hai Episode 21 Review - Emotional But Should End Soon

I am not sure how the latest developments in Sona’s track are going to effect the story but the drama should end next week because even though this was a much better episode Of Khuda Mera Bhi Hai but none of the tracks have anything new to offer at this point. Mahi and Mikael’s nikkah should be the perfect ending to Mahi’s track and Zain should accept Noor, this is something which will give him even more confidence.

The preview of the next episode showed Zain thinking about ending his marriage with Kashmala and he will try to get in touch with Mahi which means that the next episode might not be the last one!
