Intezaar Episodes 11-13 – Manipulative Maami, Sacrificial Lamb Shariq & the Waaris!

0

So, I watched these three episodes all together today in bits and pieces while I cooked in between too and at the end of the day I can not help but compare the two. While I threw in pyaaz, tamatar, lasan and adrak into the blender – these three episodes threw in manipulative maami, bechari Zoya, confused majboor Shariq, clueless aapa and maamu and Zoya’s family, a leaf out of the book, well drama called Mann Mayal all into the blender and voila, out came this mess! And the odd bit is that even though I was almost banging my head against the wall at each turn of events and one crazy decision after the other – I could see how this is sadly, all too common a feature of our dramas and even to an extent, certain characters in real life.

After Saba’s accident, Maami decides to take Saba to meet Shariq. The moment she arrives is also when Zoya and Shariq return from the hospital after Zoya has given birth to a baby boy. Mabrook! Except Maami does not feel likewise and although this woman baffles my mind, I can not help but agree with her when she says ‘agar woh uss ki biwi nahin hai, yeh bacha uss ka nahin hai, tau woh laug iss ghar mein kar kia rahay hain?!’ Seeing the ‘love’ in Shariq’s eyes for Zoya, Maami decides the only sensible plan of action is to have Shariq and Saba wed ASAP. Shariq’s mother throws in her two cents and has a word with Zoya which sends Zoya off to do what she does best, run away to the train station and no points or hats off to Shariq for finding her there so quickly – for really where else?

So, what was with the condition Zoya lay before Shariq for her return to Shariq’s house? Marry Saba and I shall return. So, if Shariq really wants to take care of Zoya then maybe get her an apartment? Pay for the rent? Must she live in his house? Anyhow, he agrees and he returns to Saba’s house with his mother with the intention of going ahead with the nikkah. But Maami, sigh – Maami is two steps ahead of everyone, miyan be damned, Shariq be damned, hell even psychiatrist be damned – she has full fledged wedding preparations underway. The whole nikkah, qabool hai scene made me wince. Saba’s mental state confuses me and I do not particularly want to dwell on it for if I am fair, one can not judge someone who has suffered what she has but she seemed to be mentally alright otherwise. Then how does she not know what marriage entails, what a nikkah is, why she must sit with that dupatta on her head. Yes, we could say she led a very sheltered life after her childhood and her parents must have kept such information away from her but oh well.

PIC1

Moving on, the wedding night was a disaster which we had already gauged from the promos. Shariq defends himself by saying Saba was out of control and he did not know what else to do. It is Maami who truly amazes me. This woman is lost in her own world, running a one man show. She has Shariq almost bullied into this marriage, then is offended when she ‘thinks’ he is not interested, then goes against the psychiatrist’s advice and rushes into the rukhsati – what? I understand she feels she is doing what is best for her child and has come to the point where she does not care who she hurts or upsets so long as Saba is cured but still! Her measures to me do not look like any form of ‘cure’ for Saba at all! Then there is Shariq’s mother who feels so weighed down by her brother’s ehsaans that she is adamant on crushing her only son’s happiness in return.

Zoya’s family also resurfaced in these episodes. Both sets of mothers seem to have collapsed into depression and we learn that Azmeer’s brother can not have children. The father, Naimat is horrified not because of the mental anguish this must cause his son but because, horror, Naimat ka waaris kahan se aye ga. Zoya’s contact with Azmeer’s mother and the sly bhabhi overhearing the conversation makes me think the obvious that now Naimat will want his grandson back in his life.

PIC2

Zoya is another person who does not sit well with me. Or is it Sana Javed I am frustrated with. I am the sort of person who weeps at every emotional scene but her scenes did not make me bat an eyelid. Maybe because her acting in every drama is the same. She has the same whispered monotone and big eye look. If she is so educated and if she really must act like she does not want to be in anyone’s way then instead of living in Shariq’s house, maybe ask for a loan and have him move her into an apartment. Must she sit in the middle of all the chaos? And then with the scenes when she is thinking of him, I can not help think she has feelings for him too. Even when Shariq asks her, I do not know what sense of ‘goodness’ (barrf) makes her say to him he must marry Saba?

What drives me up the wall is that by Shariq marrying a very obviously unstable Saba at this point when he is so deeply in love with Zoya and her child spells disaster for everyone. But the sad part is – this does happen. Shariq has been persuaded to feel he must return his Maamu’s favors and this is the price. Maami has a bee in her bonnet and seeing Shariq is in love with Zoya, the practical thing would be not to throw your already vulnerable child into the mess but rather, gracefully exit but no, lots of parents do think that things will ‘sort’ themselves out once the marriage has taken place.

The story has had its share of loopholes from the beginning, true, right down to Zoya staying in Shariq’s house but I suppose what I can believe and what makes me watch this is how Shariq’s marriage to Saba affects them both, how Zoya’s presence affects Saba and what role do Zoya’s family have to play now. With the exception of Sana Javed I feel all the actors and actresses have done justice to their roles, although Saba’s character confuses me at times. These latest episodes have piqued my interest and I am curious to see how all this mess will eventually be wrapped up.

How many of you watched these latest episodes of Intezaar? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Intezaar Episode 19 Review – 2 Biwis Ka Iklota Shauhar!

0

Are you kidding me? Not only are Shariq and Zoya gobsmacked at Saba’s antics in this episode – I mirrored the same expression while watching it! The swift change in Saba’s attitude and her reactions are so totally unrelatable that it seriously seems that the writer herself seemed to go through some strange phases where she started off with Azmeer and Zoya’s story and then woke up one morning and started another with Shariq and Saba’s story and then remembered the first and merged it and then thought oh crap, where is this all going and turned Saba into a I -do- not- know- what and hence this story has begun. I mean, really!

Saba as we earlier knew her was a withdrawn girl, traumatized by memories from her past and afraid of venturing out of the house and meeting any strangers. Now? Now Saba who apparently can not even pour a cup of tea properly, manages to don a sari and happily announce she wants to go to a party with Shariq. This sudden change in behaviour along with the sudden jealousy that has consumed her is so unrealistic. If only Saba had been shown to develop feelings for Shariq but felt unsure, and she herself was not the one to urge Zoya to marry Shariq then – given I could also conveniently forget Saba’s childhood trauma as the writer has done-  maybe this jealous Saba would be easier to understand.

pic1

Saba does not like that Shariq is paying attention to Zoya and not her. Whereas until he got married to Zoya all she ever wanted was that Shariq stay far away from her and not speak to her or even look at her. There was all the drama of Sherry Bhai ganday hain, ganday tareeqay se dekhtay hain and now Saba dolls up so that he may look at her appreciatively. He grabs her hand thinking she is Zoya and instead of recoiling and yelling at him which she had been doing earlier, she does not seem to mind at all. Nothing had changed between her and Shariq, there had been no moments spent together bringing them closer in any way, therefore this sudden jealousy and no fear of Shariq anymore just because he has married Zoya when she so graciously in fact obsessively handed him over to Zoya herself makes no sense.

It would have been interesting to see how Saba reacted when she and Shariq went out for dinner. Being with him in the car, being in a restaurant amongst strangers – things which gave her serious anxiety earlier but apparently she seemed to have taken in stride now. This new Saba is now not only dangerous for those around her, such as when she burned Zoya’s hand but also harmful to herself. I did however find myself agreeing to the bit Mamu and Maami said about Shariq not paying Saba any attention because now all his attention is focused on Zoya. Please note I do not mean the ‘biwi haqooq’ bit they were going on about but I suppose being married and letting Saba feel closer to Shariq was the first step and true, Saba lashed out at Shariq but then okay, I give up, lol. I feel like I am going round in circles trying to understand who is thinking what. Shariq should have tried to make things work with Saba rather than pining after Zoya since Saba is his wife. But then Saba brought the house down when she was anywhere near Shariq, so what was he to do. Ah well. I’ll let Maami sort them out.

pic2

Anyways, so now Maami again has swooped in to take charge of the situation. Saba had turned a deaf ear to her mother’s advice before but now she has decided to throw herself into ‘biwi mode’. Maami has stated that Shariq spend a day with each wife, turn by turn. I snorted at that, it almost sounded as ridiculous as when I call a truce when the kids fight over who has to make sure the ketchup goes back in the fridge and I announce they take turns – and then I am caught out trying to remember whose turn it is while both are bickering again. Good luck, Shariq!

Now that I have concluded that this drama is not going to end on any logical, thought provoking note, I am prepared to see it to its end like a detached viewer (hoping it does not drag crazily though!). I am so wary of reviewing any new dramas nowadays, even if something starts off well it suddenly goes off track and so wayward midway that I truly marvel at the sanity of the writer, director and actors involved. What do I think? I think Shariq should stop having tea – this chai making business is the cause of all this fasaad. I would have thought all this mess would have put him off tea by now anyway. I, on the other hand, am going to go fix myself a cup which I really need after watching this episode! Any thoughts? Don’t blame you if you don’t have any – but would love to hear some!

Intezaar – The End!

0

So cliché, but Intezaar is finally over (pun intended). I yawned my way through the second last episode until the last few minutes and then knowing that this was the last episode, I managed to sit through it and the ending left me shaking my head in amazement.

For those of you who have left the drama midway and have (or have not) been following it through my reviews – a short summary of what happened in these two episodes. Saba’s jealousy grew, ebbed on by her mother and her pieces of advice. Zoya and Shariq suffer in silence (yawn) and draw comfort from each other. During one of her rants, Saba goes out of control and in an attempt to calm her down Shariq tries to stop her and she collapses or he pushed her I could not quite figure out but end result Saba ends up in the hospital with a brain haemorrhage. Shariq’s guilt and sense of responsibility suddenly rears its head and he feels he should have taken care of Saba and fulfilled his responsibility instead of marrying Zoya and asks her to leave.

pic-2

Saba recovers and comes home – but Zoya has done what she does best and has left home. Once again. I mean, twice again. I mean – you get my point. Shariq is filled with remorse and tries to find her but is unable to. He focuses his love and attention on Saba and five years down the road we see a very happy, normal Saba living with Shariq and their daughter and parents. Zoya, we see is living elsewhere, also happy with her son and her grandmother. And then comes the ending twist that I had not really expected – ever so often Shariq has a ‘work tour’ which has him traveling out of the city and that tour is apparently Zoya’s house. His mamoo is in on his secret and Shariq manages to keep Saba and all happy with Zoya apparently okay with this whole situation. That’s it.

I have to say I was curious how this drama was going to end. I had long given up on any intelligent direction on how the child abuse issue was to be dealt. All I could draw from this was that Saba’s anxiety peaked till she collapsed and all that brought her back was the love and attention of her husband. A man she only claimed to be her husband and sit up and take notice of when she saw him paying attention to another woman. So basically, push the traumatised woman until she is consumed with jealousy for after all she is a woman and she can not bear to share her husband and that will make her realize that she has left all her fears and inhibitions behind and then nurse her back to normalcy by paying attention to her. For when Shariq tried to pay attention to her earlier and take care of her, she wanted nothing to do with him. I will not even comment on how I feel about that message – there is no point.

pic-3

Whether it is right or wrong for Shariq to keep Saba in the dark about Zoya’s existence and pull the wool over her eyes and manage two wives or not is not what I pondered over. What amazed me was how Shariq manages to keep both wives – happy and manage both homes and his work. I have to admit there was no other way to end this drama without it turning into a crazier or tragic mess than it was already. I can not say I will miss watching this for although it started on an interesting and decent note it just started heading off in a direction where I followed begrudgingly at a snail’s pace and could not keep up with the writer’s train of thought. I have no idea what she was thinking when she set out to write and what she figured she had produced when she ended it. Was it just me or were these two episodes also quite dark, as in visually? I am a fan of Mikael Zulfiqar and that is one reason I watched this drama but I can not say he or Sana Javed or even Anum Fayyaz blew me away with their acting. Anam Fayyaz had a few moments where I thought she acted well but her character was quite a confusing one and the treatment given to her character was even more confusing.

If there is anything that this drama may end up leaving with its viewers is a sudden increase in hen pecked husbands whose wives will be suddenly very suspicious of any out of city business trips. LOL! Thank you to all the readers who read my reviews regularly and commented. I did think there was one point when I was the only one who followed this drama and was glad to know there are others who have tuned into this drama. What did you all think of this ending? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Intezaar – Episode 18 – Tu Ki Jaanay….Yes, Seriously I Don’t!

0

Yaaar – no, no, no, no – this play of events although slightly predictable from last week’s episode, did not work for me. I was finding it a bit difficult relating to all the characters and now it seems to be a hopeless task! Saba – mentally unstable, suffering from childhood trauma I see, but what is with these random lapses in her mental understanding of the world? Yes, she has moments when she has no control over her emotions and actions and her past comes to haunt her but she did not seem to lack a basic understanding of life. Then why this constant wonder of what marriage is, and how she can not simply ‘donate’ her husband. If she is meant to be portraying the image of a girl who is simple, then she falls flat because she seems to carry herself well most of the time and can converse with family members and take care of Sameer then this totally going off the track randomly makes no sense to me.

pic1

Maami makes an appearance in this episode as she pays a visit to see how her daughter is faring. Her horror and shock and then her conversation later with Shariq’s mother gives us an insight into how she is viewing the situation and from her point of view it does look quite awful. Shariq, according to Maami, married Saba so that he may appear noble in front of everyone and brought her to his home only to have her drugged and cast aside while he lives a happily married life with Zoya. The sleep injection – did Saba really have one or did Phuppo make that up? But then – Maami was the one who cajoled, emotionally pressurized and then literally jumped the nikkah on Shariq. Then again – Shariq’s mother refused to listen to Shariq’s objections and demanded he agree to marrying Saba. So really, nobody makes any sense to me. Shariq’s mother suddenly feels this strong urge to see her son happy and lets him marry Zoya – why could she not have felt that urge before she forced him to marry Saba? And where does she get off justifying his marriage to Maami? Where does Shariq get off being so righteous? Why oh why did they have to listen to that wretched psychiatrist and not get a second opinion? And if they listened to her, then why not have her explain a bit what she meant by marriage curing Saba for surely a nikkah nama and a roof to live under while she plays with her husband’s other wife’s kid was not in the prescription? For that is really ALL the connection Shariq has with Saba.

Which then brings me to Saba. Her jealousy is too intense too soon. Seconds ago she is thrilled to have ‘donated’ her husband and now her mother’s speech brings back memories of older speeches given by Maami and the scene where Saba tries on Zoya’s clothes and lipstick was nothing less than psychotic. So a character that is introduced as someone suffering from the trauma of childhood abuse is then thrown into a marriage which starts with being confined in a room with the one man she trusted besides her father and then being slapped by him. Then she is meant to feel emotions such as possessiveness and jealousy and learn the art of pleasing her husband – I mean, writing it all down is giving me an anxiety attack what in the world were the writer, the director, the cast thinking?! Even if all that was meant to be how this story flows, I still find it hard to relate to how Saba has done this complete shift in emotions and is now insanely jealous of Zoya.

pic2

Oh but nahin, let’s not forget Zoya. Yeh sub meri wajah se ho raha hai – no shit! Excuse my language but really? Err, yes – Saba’s mother is angry because umm, you married her daughter’s husband. Seems pretty obvious to me! Never has a female lead seemed as bland and unlikable as Zoya has been. If there is one character in this play that has minded his own business, not given anyone any trouble even though he has been blamed to be difficult – is Sameer. Drama kahan se kahan chala gaya, he has remained consistently quiet in that blanket, not needing anything, not demanding anything.

At one point during this episode I almost contemplated to stop reviewing this play and given that it appears very few of us are even watching it and those that are do it in a state of stupor/disbelief/ bewilderment – kindly share your thoughts and let me know if you do need me to continue these reviews or I may be relieved :)

Intezaar – Episode 17 – Shaadi Mubarak!

0

Remember our board game? Maami’s intervention, Shariq’s wedding, Naimat Chacha tracking Zoya down – no game. Then Shariq formally asks for Zoya’s hand in marriage – six! Zoya’s parents are agreeable to the idea – double six! Zoya confesses to her mother that she is in love with Shariq – triple six – except that leads you back to square one, doesn’t it for Naimat Chacha opposes the marriage and announces if Zoya remarries she must give Sameer up. Shame! Anyways, after his wife’s grief and resentment all comes pouring out it opens Naimat Chacha’s eyes and he agrees to the marriage and steps back.

But then Zoya is adamant that her whole family must know about Shariq’s first wife. She has no qualms about being his second wife though for when Shariq’s mother rings her and asks her the reason for her initial refusal and wants to know if Saba was the reason her prompt ‘no no’ made me cringe. True, Shariq and Saba’s marriage is not exactly shaadi of the year but well she is his first wife and I do not know, it would have made me like Zoya a bit more if she was shown to give some thought to Saba and how she is to fit in all this but heck no, all Zoya really thinks about is Zoya herself. I am honestly a bit confused – are we meant to like Zoya? I have never felt so detached and unfeeling about a female lead in a drama before – well none that I can recall right now! All Shariq has ever seen Zoya do is sit, cry or run off to the train station – and that has made this hugely successful and confident man fall hook, line and sinker for Zoya and have her inertia and faarighness rub off on him too?! When she weeps to Shariq keh shadi nahin ho sakti I thought oh man! And then when everyone finally agrees to the marriage she is weeping again ‘I can not lie, I can not forget Azmeer’. If this was meant to be an emotional or touching moment, which I imagine it may have been it fell flat because Zoya’s constant gloom and misery is becoming so stifling that it would have been nice to see her say something positive for a change!

pic1

Shariq’s emotional speech broke through any hostility and barriers in Zoya’s household and even Naimat Chacha finally gives his blessing. The conversation between Saba and Shariq was awkward to watch. Shariq’s mother pressured Shariq into the marriage and well, he did marry Saba – where does he plan to fit her in all this? Saba’s excitement over having Zoya to talk to and Sameer to play with was horrifyingly similar to the thoughts of a child excited over the prospect of a mother figure rather than sautan coming! And how does Shariq plan to juggle two marriages?! I am unable to manage two dishes on the stove – while bhunning the chicken, I end up burning the onions in the other one then how does he imagine to manage two wives within the same house and feel he has been fair to both. (Yes, I know I just compared marriage to cooking but oh well!). Yes, I know the marriage between Saba and Shariq is anything but a marriage but well she is his wife and if she is just an inconvenience I would still like to think that he has more consideration and more in mind for her than just another person living in his house.

Saba is shown to be ecstatic over Zoya’s arrival but we see her give into a pensive moment or two and I wonder what is brewing there? Will she begin to feel jealousy now and will Zoya and Shariq mil kar help her recover from her childhood trauma? Why isn’t Maami coming to check on Saba now – I have a feeling she will show up now that Zoya is back.

Interestingly, in today’s episode what I found the most riveting was not Saba’s track (which has taken a back seat for a while anyway) or Shariq and Zoya’s track (yawn) but the scene between Naila and Shahnawaz. When I saw the tears streaming down Naila’s face when her mother in law has her emotional breakdown I wondered if her heart had softened. But she is spitting venom when she taunts Shahnawaz over his ‘grief’ over letting Zoya go. Shahnawaz had lied to his father about being the one not able to impregnate his wife so that nobody would be able to point any fingers at Naila. Can I just say that I wince each time the word kammi is used in this type of conversation. Even if the spouse does not want to hurt the other, to lay the responsibility at the feet of that person with that word just sounds so distasteful to me. It was truly nice to see this side of Shahnawaz though and it was different to see how a man can take this upon himself so as to not have anyone treat his wife less or force him to be unfair to her by remarrying. Normally it is the man who taunts the wife in our dramas and it was really interesting to see Naila do the same for I am sure this is not too far from reality either. Naila is shocked and then thoroughly ashamed of herself. I wonder if Shahnawaz will forgive her for her insensitivity or whether her true colors have made him dislike her now. More than Saba, Shariq and Zoya I am interested to see the outcome of Naila-Shahnawaz – now what does this tell you about the state of this drama, ha!

It was actually a relief to see Sana Javed smiling in the last few scenes of this episode and I hope she has shrugged off her lethargy for good. Seems like she has passed it off to Sameer for kia say kia ho gaya hai but Sameer has just remained in that annoying cushion thing without a single cry or wriggle! Shariq residence seems to be one big happy family – but is it? Intezaar for next week – surprisingly (not!) I am not counting the minutes till then! Glad to know with the comments last week that I am not the only one who tunes into this drama – would love to hear your thoughts on this episode!

Intezaar – Episode 15

0

Jitna aap se duur bhaagnay ki koshish karti hoon, aap utnay he shiddat se apni taraf kheenchtay hain. So Zoya has started to develop feelings for Shariq but still refuses to admit them to him. Her confession gives hope to Shariq though. I do wonder, and not for the first time, what it is in Zoya that has Shariq fallen for her hook, line and sinker?!Except for her ever constant monotone, big mournful eyes and lethargic state – there is nothing else of herself that Zoya has shown or expressed to us or Shariq so really?! An educated, good looking and successful man like him – was waiting for Zoya all this while? Love knows no reason – absolutely!

Mein biwi nahin hoon aap ki. Tau ban jao na! Wah. Talk about naye naye andaaz kay proposals. Ghar mein pyaz khatam ho gaye hain. Tau aur lay ao na! Uff! The proposal fell flat anyway – no surprise there but Zoya seems to be opening up and appearing to be more friendly and warm to Shariq the following day only for her Chacha to swoop in. I find it really odd and disturbing the way her Chacha’s eyes gleam at the mention of his grandson. It is not love as such that you see in his eyes, more like a prized possession, feather in his cap kind of thing. Anyways, he is successful in bringing Zoya home despite Shariq’s mein tumhein bhool nahin sakoon ga, ye baat tum mat bhoolna. I really liked that dialogue for some reason – made me stop and ponder over those words.

Saba’s despair over Zoya leaving was very apparent and as she confesses to her phuppo later, Zoya was her ticket to freedom. By having Shariq marry Zoya, she felt she could be free again. It is really sad to see how her mother has forced her into this marriage when clearly that is not what Zoya needs. She is beginning to see things more clearly though and use her brain to send the ‘extras’ away from home so she could focus on getting Shariq and Zoya married and I am sure that this is not what the psychiatrist had in mind when she suggested marriage and at this point I doubt the writer is trying to make us believe that having to deal with this problem is what will help Zoya overcome her fears but the scene where she addresses Zoya’s Chacha although showed her to be agitated yet she was able to control herself. If that makes any sense.

They say you should be careful what you wish for. ‘Allah us ki har chahat poori karay’ . Zoya’s mother’s dua for Shariq may just be something she regrets for Shariq’s chahat is Zoya. Zoya seems to be tuning into her feelings now and shares her thoughts and feelings with her mother and Azmeer’s mother. Next week’s promo shows Chacha trying to force his son to marry Zoya so as to keep his ‘heir’ close to him and I am interested to see if Zoya takes a stand for herself and what her parents and Azmeer’s mother have to say to this proposal.

Shariq’s mother confuses me. She insisted he marry Saba even though she could quite evidently see how much Shariq wanted to marry Zoya and now she gives him her blessing to marry Zoya. How does she plan on managing, rather imagine Shariq to manage two marriages under one roof. I liked the first few episodes of this drama and then was thrown off by the introduction of the new characters and their confusing personalities and thoughts. But I find myself interested again.Supposing Zoya does marry Shariq, then what? Do they ‘together’ help heal Saba? That sounds rather lame, except I am interested to see that if that happens then how it is all played out.

Sana Javed was her usual monotonous self except in a few scenes but I liked Mikaal Zulfiqar’s acting tonight. I liked how his expression managed to convey his feelings in the scene when Zoya’s chacha asks her to come home with him.I have grown used to Saba I suppose and at least Anam Fayyaz is consistent in her acting so I am beginning to relate to her as Saba. I have to say the OST that plays in the back and the dialogues at times are what stand out for me in this drama.

Will Zoya flee from her parent’s house again or will Shariq convince her to marry him? And what becomes of pota and Saba? Waiting to find out. How do you feel about how the story is developing – would love to hear your thoughts.

Intezaar – Episode 14 – Shohar,shohar, shohar!!

0

So this episode moved things along – or did it? For Zoya is still sat at Shariq’s house with her mazloom face, Maami is still throwing Saba at Shariq and Shariq is still gravitating towards Zoya. Sigh. Maami is seriously clueless about Saba’s state of mind. She comes up with one outrageous idea after the other. Knowing fully well that Saba does not react well to any new person around her, let alone a huge crowd of unknown faces, she suggests that Shariq should throw a party and introduce his wife to his ‘social circle’. This woman! Shariq thankfully shoots down the idea although the way he does it has Maami worked up in a frenzy again.

Aap mera shohar lay lain, who meray kissi kaam ka nahin’! Priceless, LOL. Poor Saba feels trapped with her mother dolling her up and trying to make her spend more time with Shariq when truly she wants nothing to do with him. She is still a child in many ways which makes her scenes even more disturbing to watch. When Shariq tells her she looks pretty, I winced for Saba has said numerous times how she hates how he ‘looks’ at her and that was probably the last thing she needed to hear. ‘Shohar, shohar, shohar – jiss ko dekho shohar shohar shohar ki baat karta hai. I am with Saba on this one – my ears were ringing from the number of times I heard that word from either Maami’s lips, or Shariq’s mother’s or even Zoya’s today!

Saba’s joyful suggestion to her mother and Phupho to head back home and leave her there confused me. For a moment. She is clearlyyyyy far from alright but her mother thinks otherwise. I do not feel any pity for Saba’s mother, seriously. Wanting your child to get well, being ruthless in order to help your child – all accepted and understood – if, and I repeat if, that is what I felt her mother was doing. Surely, she can see none of her ploys and tantrums are helping?

Lights out! Except, that scenario shed some light on what Zoya was thinking. Seeing how her mother will not listen to reason, she has decided to take matters into her own hands and kill two birds with one stone. Free herself of a shohar, and gift Zoya with a shohar since she seems to need one. I wonder how she will go about doing that. Shariq obviously needs no further encouragement and next week’s promo seems to suggest Zoya is finally succumbing to her feelings too!

Naimat Ali ka pota! Zoya’s family is beginning to forgive each other. I am not sure what benefit Azmeer’s bhabhi derives from Zoya’s return for yes, Naimat Ali wants a grandchild but if I remember correctly it is his son who is unable to provide him with an heir and not his daughter in law? Naimat Ali’s reaction is cringeworthy. This whole ‘waaris’ obsession reminds me more of a greedy pirate trying to retrieve the whereabouts of a treasure chest rather than a grief stricken father wanting to hold his dead son’s child in his arms! Seems like they will finally find Zoya but it remains to be seen whether she will want to return at all.

Saba’s character continues to oscillate between being childlike and a grown woman. Even when she is not having a fit she sometimes says and seems to understand the world around her like a girl her age would but at times she is extremely naïve. Sana Javed did not have a lot of screen time, well not many scenes when she had to say much which was a welcome break for me for those forlorn eyes and monotone whisper had done my head in. Hopefully Maami has disappeared for a while and I can breathe a sigh of relief.

I am still on the fence about what I feel about this drama. There are no crazy twists and turns, acting by everyone is mediocre, productions values are good and the soundtrack addictive. Will Shariq marry Zoya? It does seem inevitable. Where does Saba fit in all this then? And how will Naimat Ali back off from taking away his precious pota then? I guess we will have to wait and see. How many of you are still following this drama? Any thoughts? Would love to hear them!

Intezaar – Episode 10

0

So the ‘psychiatrists-in-a-pakistani-drama’ practice continues. I am not a fan of Maami’s personality but I am sure my expression mirrored the perplexed one on hers when the psychiatrist was dishing out her words of wisdom. Shadi karo na karo, bhai type se karo ya total stranger say, time spend before shaadi with total stranger is helpful how – wait, hand over the psychiatrist’s job to Shariq. Ah, yes. Let’s do that. Armed with that new insight, Saba’s parents, rather her mother feels that Shariq should spend time with Saba before she gets married so she is able to be comfortable in his presence which is being transitioned from ‘bhai’ to ‘miyan’. And Shariq? I had noooo idea being a DC was such a ‘vaila’ job-seriously! He is babysitting Zoya (making daily calls to the servant to make sure she had her juice on time), nurturing and easing Saba’s mental state of mind – when does this guy actually work?

Although he seems to be trying to be friendly and act as naturally as possible around Saba, we see Shariq feels trapped in this new relationship – as expected. Not only is Saba mentally not all there but she is someone he has viewed as a younger sister and he feels it is not easy to switch the tag of ‘behn bhai’ to ‘miyan biwi’ as he explains to his mother. I find Saba’s father’s reaction and approach although not fair to Shariq but much more believable and understandable as a father rather than her mother who seems to be living in ‘la-la land’. Maami is seriously grating on my nerves. Being hopeful over your child’s recovery is one thing but after the horrendous first ‘outing’ Shariq and Saba had you would think she would rethink the ‘outing’ suggestion so soon again!

PIC

I am still a bit confused about Saba. From what I seem to understand she has a general fear of all men except her father and Shariq but when she is overcome by erratic fits, she can not and will not listen to reason to the extent that nothing makes sense to her. Like the whole policeman scenario was really quite extreme and I could not believe after the ‘hand’ situation in the car she dragged it all the way to begging the policemen to not leave her alone with Shariq. But I will not dwell much on that and suppose maybe that is just what her mental state is like.

Shariq seems to have agreed to do his ‘duty’ but also wants Zoya by his side. Although it has not made much sense having her living in his house so far, it makes even less sense that he should expect her to stay on after his marriage to Saba. His baby names’ suggestions show his emotional state of mind where he has been thinking of names for the baby – with his name as a surname. Zoya seems to be stuck mentally on Azmeer – but her reaction to the news of Shariq’s marriage seems to suggest the beginning of some other emotions.

Seems like we are in for quite a few scenes of Saba ‘ping-pong-ing’ between Sherry Bhai is good guy – Sherry Bhai is bad guy. In spite of that, the hopeful look on Anam Fayyaz’s face when Shariq promises to stand by her no matter what was very heartfelt and spot on.

Shariq seems to want to have his cake -and eat it too. He has agreed, albeit reluctantly to marry Saba but he wants Zoya by his side too. Zoya seemed to be trying to think ahead by saying she wants to go back to work when the baby arrives. The way she had that conversation with Shariq though made me wonder where it was leading – Shariq’s nanny services for baby maybe?!

I can not help but resist pointing out how Sherry Bhais in our dramas are fast becoming Angels in Disguise Potential Miyans. There’s Sherry Bhai in Tum Yaad Aye and now in Intezaar. Anyways, the drama is watchable for now. There is something about Sana Javed’s acting that I can not place my finger on – but it seems to fall flat at times. Mikaal Zulfiqar, Anam Fayaaz and the actor playing Mamu have acted out their characters well. I do like how the drama does not have any extra characters being used as fillers – khair, how many more fillers would be needed with Shariq managing two women in his life already, but still! Anyways, I am interested to see how Shariq plans to manage both these relationships simultaneously – and keep his job in the process!

How many of you watched this episode? Would love to hear your thoughts.

Intezaar – An Overview

0

Well! Directed by Kashif Nisar and written by Asma Sayani, Intezaar airs on A-Plus every Thursday at 8pm. When I first saw the OST and the cast, I was interested enough to think I would watch and review it. However, I came across an article online which gave the story away a bit stating that the play touches upon the issue of child abuse. Given that it took me ages to get round to watching Udaari, I decided to give this serial a miss. However, hearing how popular the drama has become and thinking I could stop watching if it got a bit too depressing – I began to watch.

Intezaar is initially the story of two cousins, Zoya (Sana Javed) and Azmeer (Azfar Rehman) who are in love and are getting married soon, with their respective families’ (reluctant) blessings. Their fathers are brothers but they do not get along very well rather Azmeer’s father and Zoya’s mother have short tempers and are not exactly overjoyed by the match. Things move along and the day of their nikkah arrives and the two are married but an argument erupts over the jewellery given to Zoya by Azmeer’s family which is declared fake by Zoya’s mother which in turn angers Azmeer’s father. With tempers and egos pitted against each other, Azmeer’s father demands that Amzeer divorce Zoya on the spot – to which Azmeer reacts by walking away from the whole scenario. Egged on by her mother’s taunts and Azmeer’s obvious disappearance from the scene, Zoya feels he has left her in the lurch and not stood by her. Wanting to escape from it all, she asks to be allowed to go back to her hostel where she stays while working as a doctor. Azmeer comes to visit her there and manages to convince her that at the time the only thing he could do was walk out and the two begin to see each other and meet on weekends.

While the two live in their secret, happily married bubble, Zoya’s mother wants to see a proper end to Zoya’s nikkah and asks her to sign khula papers. Azmeer tells her to sign them so as to get her mother off her back. Zoya learns she is now pregnant with Azmeer’s baby and they decide to go back home and face their families so that they can stop meeting in secret and move on with their lives. A medical emergency at the last minute prevents Zoya from getting on the train with Azmeer – the train that crashes and kills Azmeer. Zoya’s parents are shocked to learn she is pregnant but Azmeer’s father refuses to believe the baby is Azmeer’s and rejects the idea of the very obvious DNA test as well. Zoya’s mother then feels that the step forward is to have Zoya abort her baby and marry her nephew, to which Zoya balks and runs away from home to the hostel. One thing leads to another where she ends up staying with a friend’s cousin who turns out to be a creepy man who tries to make a move on her and she ends up at a train station where she meets Shariq (Mikaal Zulfiqar). He convinces her that it is unsafe for her to be alone and brings her to his house.

Shariq is the DC of the area and we learn that his father dies when he was very young and he and his mother go to live with his mamu. Mamu bears the responsibilities of his sister and nephew, giving them room in his house and bears their expenses including Shariq’s educational expenses. Mamu has a daughter Saba (Anam Fayyaz) who is a victim of child abuse at the hands of their household servant. Although her parents eventually found out, but the abuse has left its mark on Saba who at times seems to live a fairly normal life but then at times has fits due to flashbacks from her horrific ordeal where she lashes out at everyone and is uncontrollable. Psychiatric sessions have had no effect and the psychiatrist throws in the ultimate trump card saying only marriage could possibly cure Saba otherwise nothing else can be done. Maami thinks Shariq is the ideal candidate for Saba knows him well and is comfortable with him and also because he ‘owes’ them for all the favours they have bestowed on him. Although Shariq’s mother balks at the idea at first, she gives in to the pressure and visits Shariq to convince him to marry Saba. Emotional blackmail prevails and Shariq returns to his mamu’s house to go ahead with the marriage to Saba.

I actually enjoyed the first few episodes which focused on Zoya and Azmeer. With Saba’s entry, even though I was aware what her basic story was, the flashbacks do give you goosebumps. However sickening it may feel, I suppose this is a much more common occurrence than we care to admit for children are often left at the hands of servants and pedophiles are unfortunately a very horrifying reality. While we see Zebu in Udaari react to her ordeal differently and grow up to be a strong individual although tormented by her past at times, Saba in Intezaar seems to have let the experience engulf her to the extent that she rarely leaves the house and is scared of any male presence except for her father and Shariq. To be honest I really can not comment on her mental state for God knows how such children are impacted and each individual is different. We do not know how long the abuse went on, and how it finally ended but well, the result is a very frightened, young girl who gives in to moments when she is unable to control herself or her emotions and is trapped in her past. Come to the psychiatrist’s advice – I am no psychiatry major, thankfully have not known of anyone or heard of real life child abuse victims that was cured by such advice – but really, marriage? The psychiatrist does not even suggest that she be married to someone she knows well or anything. Just that marriage is the only (if at all) cure to Saba’s state of mind. Why? So that she may be ‘given’ away to another man to go through what she went through earlier? Boggles the mind – so I will leave it at that.

Anyhow, once Saba learns she is to wed Sherry Bhai (God, not another Sherry Bhai!), she is uncomfortable around him and also gives into her emotions and gets up at the scene of the nikkah. Shariq has fallen in love with Zoya who does not reciprocate his feelings but he convinces her that he will put a lid on his feelings but she must not leave his house. I have to say, there’s a lot of ‘convincing’ going round in this drama. Azmeer convincing Zoya they are meant to be, Mamu convincing Shariq’s mum, she in turn convincing Shariq, etc!

To be honest, I am not sure where this play will lead with Saba’s track. Whether she is truly cured, how Shariq is able to make this marriage work for as he rightly says that he can take care of her as a brother but does not feel he will be able to do justice as a husband. Mamu and Maami are unaware of Zoya’s existence but next week’s promo shows that Maami learns of Zoya and that she is pregnant. Shariq seems very adamant not to let Zoya leave from his house or life so I suppose he will take a stand for her. The dialogues between Shariq and Zoya although cheesy at times, still do seem to fit in well with the play and the characters such as when Shariq says to Zoya that she has done her share of ‘mohabbat’ but he has not so she can not stop him from feeling what he does.

The scenes between Meekal and Sana are done well and I like how we see he is shown to care for her but I do have to say I miss Azfar. I find he performs such characters well and he was very convincing as Azmeer, the young engineer in love with his wife and bent on making things work. I know some of us find Meekal lacking in his acting at times, but I for one like his acting and find he has not disappointed her either- so far. Sana Javed in most of her plays is either an outspoken, bubbly character (Zara Yaad Kar to name one)- as Zoya was when Azmeer was alive or a monotonous bechari (Paiwind) – as she is now, but I have yet to watch a drama where she plays a balanced character. While I found Shariq odd deciding to go ahead with the marriage with a ‘Zoya you left me no choice’ when she does not come to the phone, but the pressure on his mother and the pressure imposed by Mamu on Shariq seemed very real where people are forced to give in to pressure thinking it is their ‘farz’. Shariq must apparently choose between his ‘farz’ and his ‘mohabbat’ but his farz being that he must marry his Mamu’s daughter because the Mamu raised him does make you question the real definition of ‘farz’ but sadly, such situations (bar the abuse element) are in abundance in reality.

I will say that the constant flashbacks Saba has do make me uneasy especially as there are different scenes, with the door locks, the swing, the sweets etc. It is hard to sit through such scenes no matter how short they are and my heart does break for children who have had to go through such living nightmares. So far, Anam Fayyaz has acted well and does make you believe her character is real. The play is visually easy on the eyes, not to mention the OST which is extremely catchy and I have found myself crooning, rather belting it out loudly for a while after watching an episode, LOL!

I am very curious but at the same time, very wary as to how this drama moves forward and how much screen time is actually spent on Saba’s journey to being ‘cured’ and how convincing that may be. Does Zoya finally begin to feel more for Shariq and is she aware of his marriage to Saba? Do Saba and Zoya eventually meet? How does Saba react to her marriage? I wonder how many of you are watching this play, what your thoughts are and whether you would like to have weekly/fortnightly reviews.

Interview With Zainab Qayyum

Zainab Qayyum, better known as ZQ, is a Pakistani model, host and actress. She has a vivacious personality. In a recent interview with Mag The Weekly, she talked about her personal life, career and future plans.

Talking about his childhood, ‘‘I had a super, shiny, happy, secure childhood. I loved playing netball, tennis and swimming, oonch neech, baraf paani – the list of my childhood travails is endless.”

ZQ speaks highly of her mother. ‘‘My dad passed away when I was nine, so it’s been my mom and I ever since. She is my best friend, toughest critic and anchor. In fact when I decided that I wanted to model at the age of 17 my mom had only one condition and that was to maintain my grades.I dedicated my Award for Best Model that I won in 2004 to my mom.”

Zainab20Qayyum2023-46-1442942210

Talking about her entry into the world of fashion and modelling, “It’s a typical ugly duckling/ fairytale kind of story. In 1991, Vinny (Vaneeza Ahmed) asked me to help backstage for her fashion show; she ran short of models and told me I would go on the ramp. Neelofer Shahid (Meeras) whose daughter was my college friend, saw me at the show and asked me to do my very first shoot for Visage with Ather Shahzad.” She retired at the age of 33 and that too at the peak of her career but she is happy that she made the right decision at the time.

She hosted the show, Maachis on HUM TV. “As a host, after Maachis, I still haven’t gotten the perfect talk show I would like to take on. My dream is to host one which is a combo of Ellen DeGeneres and Aamir Khan’s shows.”

zainab-qayyum-4-582

ZQ got married at the peak of her career but it didn’t work out. ”It’s an open fact that it didn’t work out. As two adults we divorced amicably and to date are still good friends. What I did learn from the experience is that the grass will always be greener on the other side. Singles die to get married while the married crave the freedom which the singles have. But now if it’s meant to happen again, it will not be an impulsive act as before.”

ZQ has Masters degree in English Literature and she is passionate about becoming a writer. She shared that she has finished writing her debut novel. More power to her!

Interview With Yasir Jaswal

The Jaswal brothers are super talented, that’s for sure. Uzair and Umair Jaswal are awesome singers, the latter best known for Sammi Meri Waar and his main role in Sarmad Khoosat’s Mor Mahal.
Yasir Jaswal is multi-talented – he is a singer, film and music director, writer an photographer. He is best known for writing and directing film Jalaibee starring Danish Taimoor, Ali Safina, Adnan Jaffar, Sajid Hassan among others.

5432865eb6ebb

In a recent interview with BBC Urdu, Yasir Jaswal talked about his upcoming venture. “It’s an action-thriller this time and the story has been finalized, but we’re still working on the script.”

“It is based in Pakistan but some sequences will be shot internationally, because it’s difficult to shoot action sequences here. We tried doing that with Jalaibee, to have teams come from abroad and shoot here but that didn’t happen.”

“Because of Pakistan’s conditions, people are scared to come here. However, it’s not like that, it’s safe, and good work is being done here. It’s the idea people abroad have of Pakistan, and we can only change that through films.”

The-Jaswal-Brothers-at-Lux-Style-Awards.1

Yasir Jaswal doesn’t want Pakistani films to go the Bollywood route. “You either make it for the audience or you do it because you want to deviate from the norm, towards a new cinema. Most films from Bollywood are for money-making and it’s important that we bring something ‘Pakistani’ to our ideas and films. But that can only be done by staying unique, “not by following Karan Johar or copying their films. We’re copying an existing industry; ours will exist if we bring our own ideas to the table.”

“Our audience is very smart — even though we believe otherwise — we think that we can show them anything, but a lot of films have flopped because of that. By thinking of putting an item song or showing girls dancing in a film, it will be hit, but many a times they are a flop, that’s because that doesn’t resonate with the audience.”

Interview with Sharaz Ali – All You Need is a Vision!

0

2013 has brought glory for the Pakistani Entertainment Industry. Independent movies made by amateur Pakistanis have reached different movie festivals all over the world. Pakistani talent is being appreciated far and wide, and recently a Pakistani movie ‘Zinda Bhaag’ has also reached the Oscars.

Sharaz Ali is the director of the movie ‘Writhe’, which had the opportunity to feature in the Cannes Film Festival 2013. The short film has Armeena Rana Khan and Geoff Cooper as the leads. The story revolves around a woman’s mental pain and suffering due to an incident that occurred in her life.

1044972_407845032664529_1431193908_nSharaz might have lived in Derby for most of his life, but his roots are still from Pakistan. He aspired to make an independent film, and though he faced many difficulties; he stayed determined and finally managed to complete his film with a lot of hard work and dedication. He had stated that he had no high hopes for the movie to get selected at the Cannes Film Festival, and had entered it in the spur of the moment, but he was in for a pleasant surprise when he got the acceptance mail. His film gave him an opportunity to mingle with the Hollywood’s elite crowd which included names like the Oscar winning actress Jennifer Lawrence and James Franco; the star from the Spiderman series. All the stars had nothing but praise for his spectacular short film. Writhe was also premiered in London after its success in the Cannes Film Festival.

Here is an interview of Sharaz Ali where he talks about his movie Writhe, his experience of working with Armeena Rana Khan, and why his movie has not released in Pakistan yet.

  • How did the concept of ‘Writhe’ evolve? Is it based on any true incident?

‘Writhe is based on a true story’, I said standing this in front of the packed screening room…

Followed by ‘no, not really’, after receiving some raised eye brows!

Even though it is not based on a true story, the core ingredients are all very much true and one that the audiences of countries such as Pakistan have seen much too often- domestic violence, rape and suicide due to depression and lack of support from the community. Writhe touches on all these in a way where the beauty of the shots, the audience don’t get hit with it until they have walked away- once the film has finished and discussion begins of the intentionally multilayered story.

  • Armeena Rana Khan is a new sensation of Pakistan. How was the experience of working with her?

She is a director’s dream, as she takes direction very well, easy to work with and gives 110% each take. I am really pleased and have every faith in her that she will keep surpassing audience expectations and be a force to reckon with in the future.

The first day of shooting was on a brisk winter morning- the sun was out but not everyone could tell the temperature was in the minus! Everyone was layered up and freezing yet thanks to me, Armeena had to be a thin red dress- she was feeling like an ice cube, but kept marching on with each take! I think that was the point I knew she in it with me and her professional commitment showed.

  •  Do you think that Armeena has portrayed the character well? Would you like to work with her in future as well?

I pictured this almost innocent, beautiful woman in this big, bad world of London and she played that to perfection. Armeena has a beautiful face but her eyes were the key and window to her pain and suffering, as seen in the poster. Not only that, you also see something sinister brewing in there and that is why she was perfect for the role!

Armeena is a pleasure to work with and we have become a close friend since our shoot together, we have complete faith in each others talent. We have been eager to work together since Writhe, but time has been the only barrier for our future collaborations. We have many interesting projects in development so watch this space!

  •  Do you have any intention to release ‘Writhe’ in Pakistan? If no, then how Pakistani fans of Armeena will be able to see it?

I think most of the Pakistani audiences would have heard of Writhe in the Writhe special bulletin on ARY. ARY was there exclusively to cover the screening, and had exclusive access to some of the footage for their report.

I am finalizing a deal with some online/on demand companies where the film will eventually be available for audiences from around the world.

  •  What according to you is the secret ingredient for making a successful film?

Making a successful film needs a team – a tight, well-polished and hardworking team. You can have a great script, but it could get ruined in the shoot, or have a great shoot and ruin it in post, and even having the best actor sometimes doesn’t help if you take big Hollywood examples; if the rest of the team didn’t perform! Overall, you need a well-oiled machine and each cog needs to be on the same page – once you have that, success will follow.

So in this instance, I had a great idea I was enthusiastic about, great team and a beautiful actress who was made for the role! I knew exactly what I want to shoot with and how to get the shots I require, which I believe gave the rest of the team more confidence in me and believed in my vision. Just knowing that they trusted me was humbling, and also stressful- as it’s all on me!

  •  Don’t you think parallel cinema is only for a limited audience as mostly people would not be able to digest the stories?

Parallel cinema is, at the starting point for a niche audience, which then spills over to slightly more mainstream when audience hunger for different, creative or new age cinema content grows.

In Pakistan, I know my film maybe bold for the general audience, but I know the younger generation will grasp this as an alternative to the norm. I am not saying Pakistani cinema needs a change or is dead as many reports suggest, but more so that as a global audience, I would like to give Pakistanis next generations something more rewarding to watch and something that’s not entertaining, but brings to light many issues in a creative way.

I know finance is also a very key issue here but if we can push/fund quality instead of quantity, younger filmmakers who see things differently like myself and born in Pakistan to share the vision and voice- eventually this will bring our Lollywood industry up to date and up to scratch.

This will eventually, bring a blurred line between mainstream and parallel cinema which in return will do what cinema is supposed to; give the audience a choice of what they would like to watch.

I believe in coming years, we need to move with the times but also not forget our roots. This will bring a positive change to the industry, the audience acceptance and the country’s stand in the film world.

  •  What message would you like to give to the young film makers in Pakistan?

As a filmmaker, I know sometimes you have to compromise your vision to get to the end result… As an individual who has seen change from the outside, lived in Pakistan and seen it from both sides. The best advice I can offer is to keep working on your art, keep your focus and patience as it’s not an easy industry- anywhere in the world to break into and we have a saying here, ‘You’re only as good as your last work!’ so make sure each projects counts.

Finally, as I am sure you already know, the more you do the more you learn, so don’t stop or give up at the first hurdle, the race is long and only with yourself- so only you can push yourself to the finish line!

  •  Would you ever consider working in Pakistan?

I would love to work in Pakistan- either in the TV or Film world. Besides being a challenge, I think I can teach and learn from a country that I would like to push into the world via its creative platforms.

This year was the first time I had gone to the Cannes Film Festival with my films, and to hear people saying that my film was the ONLY Pakistani film in the festival was astonishing. I thought to myself, how could an industry as large as Lollywood not have anything here?

For this reason, I would like to come and help develop, change and mold the industry to help get positive recognition, show its talent and of course that we can and are a competitive force in the film industry!

Junaid Khan is an extremely talented singer and his band, ”Call” achieved a great deal and won a huge fan following. As an actor, Junaid Khan has his share of critics but there’s no denying that he’s worked with some of the finest directors including Mehreen Jabbar, Abis Raza, Shehzad Kashmiri among others. In an interview with Mag The Weekly, Junaid Khan talks about his band, acting career and shares a bit about his Coke Studio debut.

How did ”Call” happen? ”During my university days I found a few friends who shared my love for the kind of music I was into. Two brothers, Farooq Nasir and Usman Nasir, introduced me to a seasoned muscian Omer Pervaiz who recommended me to meet the ex member of Call, Khurram Jabbar Khan who was looking to start the band again with a new line-up. I brought in two guitarist friends in the band and Sultan, who was Xulfi’s (Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan) student at the time, was added as the bass player. This made the first line-up of Call and Xulfi was our music producer who was in the band EP at that point.”

Call-(band)-2

The band broke up and then got back together. ”Well, a band is a relationship between individuals just like any other relationship. We, as a band, saw great heights in our field; travelled the world, got numerous awards, released two albums and various singles. At times, misunderstandings develop and when they build up, relationships end. But I am glad we got over our issues and got back together.’

He took a break from music and turned to acting. ‘‘After I left Call, I spent more time finding myself as an actor but I did not stop writing music even back then. Though, it seemed I took a break from music, I never discontinued actually. I released a few solo tracks, So Close, So Distant, Keh Do and Koi Rokey Mujhey, over the span of three years and I continued writing more, which you will see compiled in my first solo album releasing this year.”

Actor-Junaid-Khan-intrested-in-Music

Talking about Coke Studio, ”I was approached for the first season but unfortunately, I could not be a part of it back then. I was glad that I composed the song with Noori; we share the same music philosophy and they made the entire process quite comfortable for me. Strings, who I have observed ever since I got into this field, are great mentors; they are professional, humble and very creative.”

He shared a bit about the song he’s composed with Noori for this season of Coke Studio. ”The song is titled Main Raasta. The genre is what Noori and I love doing – rock. It is an upbeat track and is a duet with Momina Mustehsan. It will be different because Coke Studio is known for classic pop and folk fusion but this will be a pure pop-rock song.”

Interview With Adeel Hussain

0

From Daam and Mera Naseeb to Mata-e-Jaan Hai Tu and Jackson Heights, Adeel Hussain has given us some brilliant performances. People loved his guest appearance in Bin Roye, praised his acting in Ho Mann Jahan and can hardly wait for his upcoming film, Dobara Phir Se.

In a recent interview with FUCHSIA, Adeel Hussain had some interesting thing to say about his choice of work and the current state of Pakistani cinema. Adeel Hussain has worked with Mehreen Jabbar in quite a few projects namely Daam, Mata-e-Jan Hai Tu, Jackson Heights and now Dobara Phir Se. ”Yes, working with Mehreen is always great. To play a lead role in her second directorial outing was a chance not to be missed. There is a lot of history and trust there. She’s an experienced professional with a calm energy that almost disguises her passion for her work. I was really happy that she wanted me for a story set in New York. When a director you already enjoy working with is out to give her best in a movie, and you get to work in a city you love? It’s a no-brainer, really!”

adeel

One thing people always admire about him is how selective he is about his work. About this, he said, ”I don’t really go out there to ‘be selective’ per se. I love what I do, and I want to be proud of my work in the future. Everyone needs a pay-cheque, but I decided early that I would do my best to not let that rule me. I’ll just do work that I’m excited about being a part of, and hopefully create the best body of work I can create.”

IMG_20160729_155614

When asked about how he deals with negative criticism, ”I don’t worry about reviews and what is said online because one has no control over it. Nowadays there is a broader link between content and its audience. The audience is key, but one can’t let one’s creativity be overly influenced by how something will be received. It is generally accepted that most artists do their worst work when pandering to audience tastes. I think David Bowie said that.

Great strides in life are made when somebody follows through on their instinct and hard work and just wants to make something that they believe in, something you’re going to have fun trying to create.”

Commenting on the present state of Pakistani cinema, ”Lets call it the ‘getting better’ problem. We need more time, better teamwork and we need to be brave regarding the material we produce, as I previously mentioned. We are an exciting nation with a history packed with various artistic influences. I think we have the ability to create and appreciate a multitude of genres. We need more time, effort and support to evolve and more people to push the envelope.”

images-29

If you were the director of Ho Mann Jahaan what one thing would you have done differently with it? Adeel Hussain replied, ‘‘It’s not my job to change it. I stand by my directors’ vision once I have agreed to a project. A director is a person who has gotten on that chair to tell a story the way he / she wants to, depending on how much creative control they have. That’s the bottom line. I respect that.”

Interview with Abeel Javed – Good food is a way to win hearts.

This article is translation of interview of famous cooking show host, Abeel Javed published recently in Urdu Weekly Akhbare Jehan. Abeel has shared some interesting aspects about her personal and professional life in this interview.

Abeel Javed is basically known for being host of a cooking show, and it is her major strength. But her beautiful personality and courtesy are the main qualities which draws the attention towards her within no time.

That’s why despite 1000 episodes of famous cooking show ‘Haandi’ on a private channel (Masala TV), she is still hosting it successfully. Reader may already knew that Mrs. Zubeda Tariq is the cooking expert in that show, with whom Abeel have great understanding, which is also an important aspect of this program.

Apart from other qualities, name “Abeel” is quite unique. Abeel told it is an Arabic word whose meaning is Success and Win. Born on 17th October, Abeel zodiac sign is libra. Probably that is why she has such a balanced personality. Telling about herself Abeel told she has completed education in textile designing and completed the diploma with distinction of third position.

On answering the question why showbiz instead of field of textile designing, Abeel told “actually I got work in a commercial and then I accepted an offer of live show from a channel, and it continued in a way that I am totally in showbiz field”

Why food channel? Are you fond of cooking? In response Abeel told “I accepted the offer being host, as the cooking is responsibility of cooking expert in show. At that time I even not knew about the names of masalas. But now after four years I have also learned how to cook well”

Any intention to become a cooking expert in future? “Neither such intention, nor any plan to do a show as cooking expert. I only like hosting” Abeel answered

As you said you have learned cooking and quite accomplished now, do you cook at home?

“Yes now I can cook all types of dishes. I try all the recipes which I like most” Abeel answered confidently.

When you do cooking there must be some hustle at home, that today Abeel is cooking food or you do it silently?

“No I neither do any disturbance nor ask for help from anyone instead I complete my work myself in a brisk manner”

Abeel cooking is liked not only by her family but by her friends too. Since her parents are from Delhi she is now also an expert in cooking Delhi cuisine. Her favorite dishes are traditional desi food of Delhi, lasgne, pasta and noodles of every type. She can also cook these dishes very well.

How much glamour is necessary in showbiz? How much importance you give to glamour?

“Glamour is a must in showbiz”, Abeel answered instantly, “But there should not be any element of immodesty, glamour is not a bad thing, but consideration of our culture and values is also important. As far I am concerned I like being attached to my culture and always wear eastern dresses.”

Any preference in makeup? In response Abeel told that she likes light and natural makeup, and does her makeup herself.

On the question what are you plans for marriage, she told “Maybe soon you all will hear my wedding news as it is it my mother wish, but I am not yet engaged”. In this regard Abeel prefers decision and choice to her mother and wants to select her life partner as per her mother’s opinion. Abeel is second in total of four siblings. Her father is no more in this world, so she is quite touchy about her mother and wants to comfort her in all possible ways. On the topic of love she said “I have never experienced it, but it is a natural sentiment and I think persons in love with each other are ready to compromise for each other”.

Any plans to join acting field? In response Abeel said, “Acting is quite time consuming activity that is why I cannot afford to do work in dramas. I only like live shows in which there is no recording.” She further told “If I had a beautiful voice I may have been singing but in future I have plan to work in the field of textile designing”

Abeel has almost worked with all the famous chefs and all are her favorites too. But due to her long relationship and respect for Mrs. Zubeda Tariq, she considers her as the best cooking expert. She told. “It is due to Zubeda aapa that I can cook well today. She guides about all things in an easy manner that cooking looks very simple.”

Any tips for women who do cooking?

“I am not a chef, but I have learned many things since I am host of a cooking show for many years. First thing I will like to tell is interest and dedication is must to do anything. In start there must be some difficulty in cooking but your interest will make it easier. So cooking nihari or kofta is not difficult any woman can make it.”

Any common mistake which women generally do while cooking?

“Mostly housewives or girls learning cooking add more salt by mistake, so always add less salt and pepper. As it is easy to make less more, but there is a long process to make salt and pepper less. Also do not make too oily foods, try to add less quantity of oil in food.”

Soft spoken and soft hearted Abeel likes chit chat, but she is also an isolationist by nature and normally avoids gatherings. She said I like hustle bustle but I also like isolatation.

Her hobbies include reading mystery novels, watching horror movies, sketching, designing and cooking well made dishes. She said good food is a way to win hearts.

She considers wordings of Anwar Maqsood as best comments of her life which he said on completion of 1000 episodes of “Haandi” that “He has never seen any anchor of a live show speaking such clear and pure Urdu fluently.”

Her message for readers is “Cooking is not a difficult thing; it is an art so enjoy it. Also take care of your parents as there is no replacement of them in this world.”

Interview of Yasra Rizvi – No intention of marriage, I am scared of cats

Interview of Yasra Rizvi has been published in Sunday Magazine of Daily Jang. It is translated for the readers of this blog. Interview and pictures courtesy of Daily Jang. Below is the translation of interview conducted by Ms. Saima Naaz in Urdu for Daily Jang.

Claim of versatility by many new and upcoming actors is like promises of politician with public during election campaign. But truth is what that is admitted by all, and the opinion of public about politicians is apparent in front of us. However in showbiz, it is true, many new actors are working here giving a fresh look to screen. But it is also true many youngsters are progressing by using glamour and technology. But..Yasra Rizvi is one of those actors who have made her place in the field of showbiz due to her quality work in quite short time. A confident and strong personality Yasra has performed a role in Geo TV’s drama serial ‘Virasat’ totally opposite to her personality. After doing a well performed comedy role in ‘Kis din mera vyah howay gaa’, she is now skillfully performing role of a grieved mother in Geo TV’s drama ‘Man ke Moti’ and receiving praise for it as well. Yasra is not only an actor, but she is also God gifted in field of writing and speech. Then why shouldn’t she be called versatile. Yasra is a pleasant edition to television industry and it is expected that her interest in films and its trends can play a role in betterment of our film industry. In recent days there has been an interesting conversation with Yasra regarding her private and professional which Is as follows for the readers.

Question: Tell us about your family and life.

Yasra: I am from Islamabad. I was born on 15th November 1982. My parents are also from the field of journalism. Mother used to write diary for Daily Jang Islamabad. I have only one brother who is also in journalism.

Question: From where you completed education?

Yasra: I have done BBA in Human Resource Management from Michigan University, USA and then Master in Mass Communication from Britain. Then my interest shifted towards films and theater and I tried to give a new trend to Urdu theatre and film with my writings.

Question: How was your childhood time?

Yasra: My childhood was in Islamabad. My house environment was quite literary, so I was interested in ghazal, classical poetry and poetry. I never done acting in school, but when I started writing , my family never stopped me, instead they helped me.

Question: From which field you started your career?

Yasra: I started my career as a writer and then came towards acting. For theatre my first written play was “Bench” which was in Urdu. It was a memorable moment for me, when after this play, when audience in theatre hall clapped for me. I can never forget that day.

Question: Which type of literature do you like?

Yasra; I am a drama writer and since my parents are also in the field of writing, instead of discouraging they encouraged me. I am inspired from the works of Anwar Maqsood and Munnoo Bhai. My own writing style is also a bit classical.

Question: Born in a literary environment, being a writer yourself, how you came towards acting?

Yasra: It was sudden. I was in Karachi, when I met few persons from Islamabad theatre over here. I presented my portfolio to them and they instantly called me. That drama was not worth mentioning but my character was appreciated. After theatre, Sabiha Somaar casted me in a small but powerful role in Geo’s drama ‘Mi Raqsam’.  I also did ‘Kis din mera vyah howay gaa’ on Geo. Experience of working in drama ‘Virasat’ of Geo was also helpful. Now a days I am working in drama ‘Man Ke moti’ on Geo TV.

Question: Being a writer and actor at same time, is helpful or harmful?

Yasra: Its helpful in every way. Being a writer I knew many problems of our society. I want whichever drama I work in, must have some message and objective and it would convey a message to public along with entertainment in an unfelt way. Drama or showbiz is not only entertainment but is also a necessity of our society. Entertainment is still limited to television for a large population of our country. Television can be very helpful for awareness and consciousness for those people. Whether writer or actor I think both must have good observation. I use observation in both writing and acting, due to which understanding and performing a character becomes easier.

Question: What’s your opinion about theatre?

Yasra: Theatre is a quality entertainment but sadly Urdu theatre has almost ended in our country. Quality of Punjabi theatre is very poor. Our youth has done very hard work for Urdu theatre. Recently the success of ‘Aangan Terha’ has set a new trend and I feel very happy to see a theatre prospering again.

Question: Any message for current youth

Yasra: Our youth do not read classical history, books or go to library; they are not familiar with dramas of Imtiaz Ali Taaj. I feel sorry for that. I want youngsters should also focus on this.

Question: Which type of role you want to perform in dramas?

Yasra: No special preference for characters, I believe in versatility. Performing roles of same type is like death of an artist for me.

Question: Any interest in music

Yasra: I am inspired from legends like Noor Jehan, Fareeda Khanum, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Ghulam Ali, and also like to listen to them.

Question: Youngsters of every era want to join showbiz what is your opinion on it.

Yasra: I think if someone has talent, nothing in the world can stop him/her for making name. As compared to past now youngsters have more opportunities. There are many television channels and radio station, but talent is must.

Question: What is your opinion on ongoing trend of ‘Remaking’?

Yasra: Remaking of films is a good thing. New generation knew about their heritage by this. But presenting old films in new style is not sufficient; there must be new films as well. In India film is a profession of many people, if film making starts in our country it can provide work to many houses.

Question: Many new artists frequently complain regarding no support from senior actors, how is your experience?

Yasra: Attitude of seniors has always been good towards me. If a junior is arrogant and ineligible no one teach him/her. I think nothing could be more encouraging then praise from a senior.

Question: How was your journey from Islamabd to Karachi?

Yasra: Karachi is an excellent city. Life continues here despite terrorism incidents. If anyone wants to work or make career here, both this city and its citizen are extremely helpful’

Question: When will you get married?

Yasra: Everybody gets married, if I don’t it will be an individuality. So I don’t have any intention for getting married.

Question: You are quite sensitive about film industry, any plans to make a film in future?

Yasra: Definitely, there is strong plan to make a film. Film is quite demanding thing, so am working patiently. I want to make a film, in which dressings, language, environment everything is a representative of our country. Film must be close to reality. If film is Pakistani, then it must take care about our values. Making such film is my dream which I will make true in near future.

Question: If there is one principle for a successful life, what should it be?

Yasra: “Hard work” is the only principle for a successful life.

Question: Which is your area of interest and which areas you dislike?

Yasra: I watch television with great interest. I can do cooking, but no special interest in it. Politics is so much discussed in my house that I have no interest in it. I am quite social; all my past friendships are still active. I easily intermix with others. I don’t like getting up early, but now have to do that.

Question: Which area you will like to work in future?

Yasra: Film writing, production and direction, I will focus on all of these.

Question: Any childhood fear which still prevails

Yasra: Oh, I am scared of cat, and I don’t dine outdoors due to this.

Question: It is said, there is a woman behind every successful man. Do you believe it?

Yasra: Whether man or woman, there is a support system behind every successful person. There are sincere persons who encourage them.

Question: What is your message to those who want to join showbiz?

Yasra: Like all other fields you have to work hard, if you want to earn fame in showbiz. Teamwork and cooperation will result in your success.

Interview of Yaseen Malik and Mishal

Interview of Kashmiri Leader Yaseen Malik and his Pakistani Wife Mishal from Urdu Monthly Gourmet Magazine done by Zoha Imran.

India the country we know for its music, art, films and film stars. But there is also a flip side to this soft image of India. Apart from films and music India is also a big military power, and it is using it to suppress Kashmiri’s right to self determination through extreme brutality and savageness for past 67 years . Today is 5th February, Kashmir Day, India’s illegitimate occupation of Kashmir is still a reality, lets hope Kashmiris get their right for self determination to decide their fate.

Bohat say channels nay morning show kay liye bhi raabta kiya hai, shayed mein aap ko jald hee koi morning show yaa cooking program host karti nazar aaoon

Q: khud ko sirf tv tak mehdood rakhnay ka iraada hai yaa film karna bhi aapkaay mustaqbil kay plans mein shamil hai?

US: har funkar kaa aik hee khawab hota hai kay who aik din film karay aur ab tv industry kay log hee film production kee taraf aa rahay hain jo kaay khush aayend hai. Young logon nay filmon mein dilchaspi lay kar nayay tajrubaat karnay shru kiye hain to mujh jesay funkaron ko bhi umeed lagi hai kaay hum film kar sakain gay bas uss din kaa bechaini say intezaar kar rahi hoon jis din mein aik film sign kar loon gee

Q:  zyada funkaron aur zyada channels aanay say kaam mein behtari aayee hai yaa meiyaar kharabi kee taraf jaa raha hai?

US: hamain tasweer kaa musbat pehlu yaa roshan chehra dekhna chahiye, jab se zyada channels aaye hain zyada rozgar barha hai, who log jo acting karna chahtay thhay aur kam channels kee wajah sey unko mauqa nahin milta thaa, unko bhi kaam milnay laga hai. Zyada channels aur funkaron kee wajah say kaam mein muqabla saazi kee faza bhi barh gayee hai. Ab log aik do channels dekhnay per majboor nahin hain balkay jo accha kaam karay gaa log usaay daikhain gay isliye production kaa meiyaar behtar huwa hai. Aaj kee nasal ka muqabla sirf ptv say nahin hai balkay dunya bhar kay channels say hai. Ab log Indian, irani, amreeki, turkey aur british channels daikkh kay khud faisla kartay hain kaay hamaray channels kahan kharay hain aur unko kiya daikhnaa hai, ab muqabla international media sey hai, jo behtar kaam na kar sakay gaa, khwah funkaar ho yaa channel uss kay liye yahan koi jagah nahin. Isliye logon ko is muqablay kay bawajood ham yaad rehtay hain to yeh bari baat hai aur is kaa matlab hai kaay ham kucch kar rahay hain

Q: aapkay nazdeek khoobsoorti kee tareef kiya hai?

US: meray nazdeek khoobsorti kaa matlab khoob seerat hona hai. Chehra koi maani nahin rakkhtaa

Q: doosron kee shakhsiyat mein aap ko kiya baat mutaasir karti hai?

US: Samnay waala kitnaa pur-aitmaad hai yaa kitna muskara kar baat karta hai . baat karnay kaay andaaz say shakhsiat kaa andaza lagaati huun

Q: kabhi apnay aap mein kucch badalnay ka khayal aaya?

US: mein jesi hoon, khuda nay jesi banaya hai mujhey sab apnay aap mein sab pasand hai magar koi shuk nahin kaay sehatmand rehnay kayliye wazan kam karna chahti hoon

Q: hamari siqafat aur tarz-e-zindagi ko Indian culture nay mutaasir kiya hai iss baray mein kiya kahain gee?

US: Hollywood, European, irani aur doosray mumalik kaay channels kaa kaam dekhtay hain to uun say mutaasir hotay hain, unnkee zuban, andaz o atwaar apnanay kee koshish kartay hain hamaray aur bharti culture mein bohat see momaslatain hain isliye shayed aisay zyada lagtaa hai lekin jo farq hai ussay nazar andaz nahin hona chahiye. Hamari mazhabi aur muashrati riwayat kay asal ko kam nahin hona chahiye. Is ko ham nay khood bachaana hai

Q:dunya bhar say log doosray mumalik mein kaam kartay hain lekin hamaray fankaron ko dunya mein munasib izzat aur muqaam nahin milta iskee kiya wajah samajhti hain?

US: mein tasweer ka doosra pehlu daikhhnay kee aadi hoon, rahat fateh ali khan, ali zafa, atif aslam, humayun saeed, mona liza, meera, veena malik in sab ko sooray mulkoon mein kaam karnay per apnay mulk say bhi zyadah izzat milli hai inhain siraha gaya unki filmon aur geeton ko international pazi-rayee mille. Iss cheez ko samajhna ho gaa kaay izzat kaam main hai, kaam mein infaradiyat paida karain to apna mulk kiya hum dunya fatah kar saktay hain

Q: apni zindagi kee kamyabi kiya samajhti hain?

US: mujh per meray maan baap aur doston ko fakhar hai iss say bari kamyabi kiya ho sakti hai

Q: apni zindagi ki nakaami kiya kahain gee?

US: mujh per khuda kee inayat hai sab set jaa raha hai, aik do projects kee nakaami ko mein apni nakaami keh yaa samajh kar mayoosi kaay samundrun mein nahin doob saktee

Q: zindagi mein kis cheez kee kami ka ehsaas hota hai?

US: hum nay bohat saa waqt Saudi arab mein guzara hai uss waqt dunya ka pata hee nahin thha, sirf apnay ghar walay hee nazar aatay thhay, sair sappatay thay dost thay aur hum thay. ….. aah woh waqt laut kar aaye gaa aur naa hee bhool sakta hai

Q: kiya hamaray fankaron kay liye training acacdemy kee zaroorat hai?

US: mein aik academy say parhi hoon wahan say theater acting seekhi. Aap paidaishi actor ho saktay hain lekin phir bhi bunyadi cheezain to seekhni parti hain. Aap ko fun kee tareekh aur alif bay pata ho to kaam karna asaan ho jaata hai aur ab logon kar seekh kar hee aana chahiye takay muqabla kar sakain. Lekin yeh bhi nahin kaha ja sakta kaay jo nahin seekhay yaa parhay who nakaam hain. Aisy bohat say log hain jo khud chalti phirti academy hain

Q: aap nay comedy kirdar zyada kiye hain, itni comedy kartay kartay thak jayen gee to kiya karain gee?

US: bator actress mein har tarah kaay kirdaar ada karna chahti hoon, magar shayed logon ko mujh mein comedy ka talent zyada nazar aata hai. Balkay kucch arsa pehlay mujhey khud comedy kar kar kaay thakkan ka ehsaas honay laga thha. Lekin tab aik fan nay mujhey kaha key “aap kee waja say agar iss zamanay mein koi hanstaa hai to yeh bari baat hai sadqa jaariyah hai” yeh baat mujhey itni khoobsurat lagi kaay mein apni thakkan per sharminda huwi aur mujhey comedy kartay huway pehlay say bhi zyada khushi honay lagi lekin is ka matlab yeh nahin kaay mein sanjeeda kaam nahin karon gee

Q: aapko apni fankarana salahiton kaa andaza thha?

US: koi andaaza thha naa hee abhi mujhay lagtaa thha mein koi kamal kar chukka hoon

Q: kiya showbiz larkiyon kay liye munaasib career hai?

US: meray liye to hai bhayee, is liye mein is field ko larkay aur larki mein taqseem karna nahin chahtee yeh talent kee baat hai

Here is the roman Urdu version of this interview

Ideal zindagi shayed aisay hee hoti hai

Apni khoobsoorat ada-kaari say sab ko maat denay waali saba qamar nay kitaboN mein bassay kirdaron sey bohat kucch seekha hai

Saba qamar parda-e-seemenN per chamaknay waala who sitara hai jis-ki roshni mein shoalon kee hararat hai aur chaand ki thandak bhi. Kahin who shaukh-o-chanchal adayeN dikhati nazar aati hain to kahin saadgi ka perahan aurhay aik masoom aur gum-sum larki. saba ki yeh versatile nature hi hai jo ussay apni hum-asar adakaraoN mein numayaN kartee hai. who apni jaandaar performance say kissi bhi kirdaar mein jaan daalnay ka hunar jaan-ti hai. nidar, bebaak aur asool pasand saba ko apnay kaam sey ishq hai aur ussay challenge qabool karna bhi pasand hai. isi liye bator heroine career shru karnay kaay baw-jood saba nay har tarah kay kirdaar kiye hain. saba nay comedy bhi ki aur manfi kirdar bhi kiya kyon-kay aik makhsoos chhaap lag jaanay kay dar say wo behtreen ada-kaari ka mauqa nahin chhor saktee . dastaan, maat, paani jaisa pyaar, jo chalay to jaan say guzar gaye, aasiya, yahan pyar nahin hai, thakkan, hum sab umeed say hain jesay mega projects say bey-panah maqbooliyat haasil karnay kaay baad saba apni zindagi aur career say mutma-in to hain magar zindagi kay is safar mein bohat see kamiyabiyan aur khushiyan abhi bhi is bey-baak larki kee muntazir hai jo aagay barhnay kee lagan mein behtar sey behtar kee khhoj mein magan hai (idara)

Mehroomi key baw-jood aik khush-gawar bachpan

Meri walida kaa taaluq qazi syed khandan sey hai aur waalid Karachi kee bukhari family sey hain, isi liye meri zindagi kee ibtida Karachi say hui lekin mehaz teen (3) saal kee umar mein baap kee shafqat say mehroom ho gayee thhee to walida apnay 6 bachon samait apnay abayee shehar Gujranwala aa gayen. Yoon meray bachpan ka zyada tar hissa Gujranwala mein guzra. Mein us waqt bohat chhoti thee jab baba ka intiqal huwa, is liye bohat zyada yaadein samaitnaay ka mauqa naa mil saka. Magar maazi kee dhundhlee see yaad kay jis mein meray baba mujhey gaud mein utha kar balkoni kee sair karwatay thhay, meri sunehri yaadon mein aaj bhi mehfooz hai aur mein aaj bhi apnay shafeeq baap kay mohabbat bharay lamas ko mehsoos kar sakti hoon. Hamary muashray mein jahan mard ko ghar ka kafeel aur muhafiz samjha jaata hai wahan nihayat chhoti umar mein baap ka saaya sar sey utth jaana aik bohat bari mehroomi bhi samjha jaata hai magar meri maan nay kabhi bhi bey-chargee aur bey-basi ka libada na aurha aur na hi apni aulad ko aisa karnay diya. Hum behan bhaiyon nay maan kay aanchal mein chhup kar aik khoobsorat aur zindagi say bharpoor bachpan guzara. Baap kee kami to thee magar baray bhai kaay pyar nay mehroomi kaa ehsaas hee na honay diya. Ghar mein sab say chhoti honay kee wajay sey maan aur behan bhaiyon kee laadli thee. Dar-asal mein zindagi say bhar-pur thhee aur apni zindagi kay har lamhay ko enjoy karna chah-tee thee lekin chaun-kay parhai mein acchi thhee is-liye meri shaukh mizaji aur zinda-dili say kissi ko koi ikhtilaaf nahin thha. Ghar say laad uth-waatay aur dostaun say kheltay huway bachpan kesay guzar gaya pata hee na chala

Showbiz mein kesay aayee?

Bachpan kaa zyada tar waqt gujranwala mein guzra lekin school life khatam honay kaay baad bachon kee mazeed parhai kaay liye ammi hamain Lahore lay aayen. Mujhay bachpan say ada-kaari ka shauq to thha magar showbiz mein entry qudrat ka haseen ittefaq thhaa. Huwa kucch yoon kay college kay dinon mein main apni aik dost (jis ki behan production house mein kaam karti thhee) kaay saath shooting daikhnay gayee wahan dost kee behan ko mujh mein potential nazar aaya aur uss nay mujhey kaam kee offer kar di. Mujhey bhi acting ka shauq thha jesay uss umar mein har khawab daikhnay waali har larki ko hota hai. Magar mujh per qismat kee khaas karam-nawazi thee kay mujhey apni salahi-taun ko aazmaanay ka chance bhi mil gaya aur mein nay dartay huway offer qabool kar lee aur yoon ptv kay dramay ‘mein aik aurat hoon’ kay zariyay apnay career kee seerhi per pehla qadam rakkha.

Khandan ki mukhalfat

Hamray muashray kay dastoor bohat hi niralay hai. Hamain tv per nazar aanay walay fun-kaar bohat acchay lagtaay hain. In kay faishon ko follow karna aur un kay saath tasweerain ban-wanay ka shauq bhi hota hai lekin agar apnay khandaan kee koi larki in fun-karoon kee saf mein khhari ho jaye to yeh ghalat hai. Jab apni zaat per baat aati hai to dastoor badal jaatay hain. Issi qisam kay asool pasand muasharay aur rishtey-daaron nay meray muntakhib karda raastay ko naa sirf ghalat qarar diya balkay mujhey wapis lotnay per majboor bhi kiyaa. Magar mein ruknay waali nahin thee kyon-kay mein jaan-ti thee kaay issi raastay per meri manzil mera intezaar kar rahi hai. Khandaan ki mukhalfat ki wajah se meray liye apnay iss faislay per saabit qadam rehna itnaa aasaan naa hota agar meri family khaas taur per maan aur bhaai ka aitbaar meray saath naa hota. Mein nay bhi hamesha koshish kee hai kaay khud ko scandals say door rakkhon or family kaay aitmaad ko kabhi tootnay naa doon

Muashray ki nazar mein fun-kaar bura hi kyon?

Meray khayal mein acchay burray log har jaga hotay hai is-liye mehaz aik field ko bura kehna ghalat ho gaa. Media aur showbizness aik aisi field hai jis mein sab kuch aap kay samnay hota hai. Is-liye log bhi tanqeed kartay hain aur ungliyan bhi utthataay hain. Aik lark jitni bhi paak-daman ho agar who media mein hai to bay-kirdaar hai aur agar koi larki apnay maan baap kee nazron mein kitni hee dhhool jhonk rahi ho lekin uss kaa taaluq media say nahin hai to muashra ussay paak-damman hee kahay gaa. Hamara muashra tang zehan hai aur hamary mei-yaar society kaay har fard aur tabqay kay liye alag hain. Aik artist agar das (10) dramon mein accha kaam kar raha hai to koi uss ki taareef nahin karay gaa aur agar kahin uss say ghalti ho jaaye to 100 log tanqeed karnay bahir nikal aatay hain

Umeed jo poori huwee

Mein nay mehaz 19 saal kee umar mein industry join kee aur yeh meri khush qismati thee kay mujhey acchay producers, directors kay saath kaam karnay kaa mauqa mila. Lekin geo tv kay comedy show ‘hum sab umeed sey hain’ nay mujhey meri asal pehchaan dee aur mujhey apnay career say jo umeedain thhee who poori hoti nazar aayeen. Magar ‘hum sab umeed say hain’ kee hosting aur acting meray liye bohat bara challenge thha. Jahan mujhey har haal mein apni performance ko 100% ban-ana hota hai. Yeh program kartay huway mujhey ehsaas huwa kaay logon ko hansaana kitnaa mushkil kaam hai, kyon kaay chahay aap beymaar hon, perishaan hon yaa bohat hee buraay mood mein hoon lekin camera kaay saamnay aapko fresh aur mazah say bharpoor hee nazar aana hai. Sanjeeda ada-kaari mein aapkaay paas margin hota hai magar comedy mehnat aur commitment kaay baghair ho hee nahin saktee. ‘Hum sab umeed say hain’ meri zindagi kaa sab se mushkil aur kamyaab project hai

“Maat” meri jeet ban gaya

“hum sab umeed say hain” karnay kaay baad jahan mujhey aik pehchaan milli aur mega projects mein kaam karnay ka mauqa bhi milla. Magar zyada tar serials aur shows mein mujhey shaukh, chanchal aur zindagi say bharpoor larki kaay kirdaar millay magar mein kucch alag karna chah-tee thhi. Aisa kirdaar jo meray baaqi tamam kirdaron say mukhtalif ho jis mein log mujhey aik naye andaaz mein daikh sakain. Aisay mein jab “MAAT” drama mein “SAMAN” ka kirdar karnay ka mauqa mila to mein nay foran yeh offer qabool kar lee. Agar-chay yeh aik manfi kirdaar thha aur koi doosri ada-kaara shayed career kee oonchayee per aisa kirdaar naa karna chahtee magar yahan bhi mein nay apnay dil ke sunni aur iss challenge ko bhi qabool kiya. Shayed meri lagan sachi the is liye yeh ‘maat’ meri zindagi kee jeet ban gaya jis nay mujhey shohrat ki bulandiyon per ponhchaa diya aur logon kaay ilaawa directors nay bhi mujhey aik versatile ada-kaara tasleem kar liya. Is kaay baad mujhey milnay waala har kirdaar munfarid aur behtereen thha

Kirdaar kee nafsiyat ko samajhna zaroori hai

Mein bohat chhoti umer mein showbiz mein aa gayee thhee isliye graduation kay baad taaleem haasil nahin kar saki lekin mujhay mutaalay kaa bohat shauq hai aur mein hamesha kitabain parh-naay kay liye waqt nikaal leti hoon. Mein nay English literature mein Shakespeare aur Paulo Coelho ko parha hai jabkaay urdu mein bano qudsia aur umera ahmed pasandeeda hain. Al-chemist aur peer-e-kaamil who kitabain hain jinhon nay meri soch kaa zawiyaah hee badal diya. Adab kaay ilaawa nafsiyaat mera pasandeeda mazmoon hai aur mein insaani nafsiyat saay mutaaliq kitabin parhti hoon kyon kaay jab tak aap insaani nafsiyaat ko nahin samajh letay kirdaar mein haqeeqat kaa rang nahin bhar saktay. Artist bohat hisaas hota hai who apnay zaati tajarubaat kaay saath saath mushahidaay say bhi bohat kucch seekkhtaa hai. Mujhay in kitabon aur in kitabon mein bassay kirdaroon nay bohat kucch sikkhaya hai.

Mein yoga karti hoon

Log mujhay zindagi say bhar-poor larki samajhtay hain jo kucch had tak theek bhi hai. Meri fitrat mein aik hulchul thee aik toofan thha jis mein meri zaat bahay jaa rahi the. Meri zindagi mein nazm-o-zabt aur thehrao nahin thha. Who tawazun jo aik balance life guzarany kay liye bohat zaroori hai. Apni zindagi mein thehrao laanay aur fitness ko barqarar rakkhnay kay liye mein nay yoga classes shru kar deen. Ab picchlay teen (3) saalon say baa-qayedgee say yoga kar rahee hoon. Meri zaat mein thehrao aur soch mein pukhtagee kee bari wajah yoga hee hai

“Mein manto” mera dream project

Qismat hamesha mujh per meharbaan rahee hai aur shayed meri khush qismati hee hai kaay career kee shuruaat mein hee kayee yaadgaar performances day chukkee hoon lekin har fun-kaar kee tarha behtar say behtreen kaam karnay kee yeh fitri khawahish meray andar zinda hai aur mujhey umeed hai kaay kaay yeh khawahish aur tish-nagi hamesha zinda rahay gee aur meray andar chhupay artist ko kaam karnay per uksaati rahay gee. Wesay to mera har project hee meray dil kaay qareeb hota hai magar is waqt mein jis project per kaam kar rahi hoon uss ka naam hai “mein manto” jo kay mash-hoor afsaana nigar saadat Hassan manto kaay afsanon per mabni aik mega project hai jissay sarmad sultan khoosat direct kar rahay hain. Iss project ko aap mera dream project bhi keh saktay hain, jiss mein log mujhay jald aik naye andaaz mein daikhhin gay. Jab sarmad sultan khoosat nay mujhey yeh role offer kiya to mein bohat nervous thee kaay itna bara aur aham role kesay kar paoon gee magar sarmad sultan kaa yeh kehnaa thha kay yeh role aap kaay illaawa koi aur ada-kaar kar hee nahin sakti, meray liye yeh aik bohat bara compliment hai

Shaadi kab?

Shaadi aik bohat aham faisla hai mein iss mein jalad baazi nahin karna chahtee aur wesay bhi mera yaqeen hai kaay naseeb say zyada aur waqat say pehlay kissi ko kucch nahin miltaa hai. Iss liye jab sahih waqat ho gaat to meri shaadi bhi ho jaye gee. Aaj kal meri shaadi kaay baray mein afwahain manzare-aam per aati rehti hai magar unn mein koi sidaqat nahin. Meray nazdeek shaadi zindagi kaa aik aham faisla balkay turning point hai aur mein jab shaadi karoon gee to ussay kabhi bhi nahin chhupaoon gee aur mein yeh bhi wazah kar dena chah-tee hoon kay meri koi ideal nahin hai. Haan bas mera shareeke safar aik sacha insaan ho gaa

Ideal zindagi kiya hai?

Ideal zindagi wohi hai jis mein aap khush aur mutma-inn hon aur yeh khushi aur itmenaan tab hi hasil hota hai jab aap ko iss haqeeqat per yaqeen aa jaye kay waqat sey pehlay aur naseeb say zyadah kissi ko kucch nahin milta to phhir zyada kee hawas nahin rehti aur insaan ALLAH TAALAA kee naimtoon kaa shukar guzaar ho jaata hai. Aaj mein aapni zindagi say mutma-inn hoon . aap keh saktay hain kay mein aik ideal zindagi guzar rahi hoon. Mohabbat karnay waali family, bulandi ko chhota huwa career aur lakkhon logon ka pyar – – aik ideal zindagi shayed aisee hee hoti hai—!

Award show kiya hain?

Aik ada-kaar kay liye pazee-rayee utnee hee zaroori hai jitnaa kissi poday kay liye paani! Jis tarah poday ko nasho-numa kay liye paani kee zaroorat hoti hai hai ussi tarah har fun-kaar kaay dil mein apnay fun ko nikkharnaay kay kee umang mojood hoti hai aur iss jazbay ko zinda aur tawanaa rakkhnay kay liye pazi-rayee bohat zaroori hai. Artist ko yeh pazi-rayee faraham karnay kay liye award show aik bohat aham zariya hain basher-tekay yeh award merit per diya jayen. Aik to hamary mulk mein award shows hotay hee bohat kam hain aur jo chand gintee kaay award hotay hain uun mein merit kaa koi tasawur nahin. Yoon lagta hai jesay award jury apni zaati pasand aur face value per logon ko nawaz rahi hai jabkay award denay kaa asal may-yaar sirf aur sirf performance honi chahiyay

Confused muashray kay liye

Mein Pakistani hoon aur mujhay apnay Pakistani honay per fakhar hai mein kissi Indian film mein maamooli saa kirdaar karnaay kee khawahish-mand nahin hoon. Haan agar donon mulk barabree kee satah per kaam  karain to uss ka fayeda donon mumaalik kaay funkaaron ko ho gaa. Iss waqt halaat yeh hain kaay tamam Indian aur Turkish ada-kaar to Pakistan kay har ghar aur tv lounge mein dasti-yaab hain magar Pakistani ada-kaaron ko unkaay ghar mein koi nahin jaan-taa. Is kaay bar-aks india kaa koi third class actor bhi Pakistan aa jaye to media aur awam paaglon kee tarah uss ka istaqbaal kartee hay. Iss waqt hamary mulk mein indian aur Turkish drama nashar karnay kaa jo riwaaj chal niklaa hai iss khatarnaak riwayat seay agar-chay Pakistani channels to khoob kama rahay hain lekin agar rating barhaanay kee daur mein shaamil channels ko bar-waqt naa roka gaya to iss kaay sangeen natayej pooray muashray ko apni lapait mein lay lain gay. Pehlay hamara artist khatam ho gaa aur phhir Pakistani siqafat — hamara media aur awam Turkish drama mein nazar aanay waali fahashi ko public demand kaa naam deti hai magar yehi libaas agar Pakistani ada-kaarayen pehan lain to sab kee ungliyan khari hoti hai. Dar-asal ham confused qaum hain jis nay dohray may-yaar apnaa rakhay hain aur hamara media iss gumrah qaum kee islaah karnay ki bajaye mazeed gumrah kar raha hai

Interview content in roman urdu

Moomal Sheikh

Nazuk khadokhaal ki haamil adakara aur model momal sheikh showbiz ki cham-chamati dunya mein aik khobsurat izafa hain. Who basilayehat funkaar javed sheikh ki sahibzaadi hai apnay waalikd ko behtareen adakar maanti hain, lekin waalid ka sahara lekar naam nahin banana chahteen, balkay apnay talent kay bal per aagay barhnay ki khawahish rakkhti hain, guzishta dinon hum nay moomal sheikh say aik mulaqat ki jiss mein unhon nay saadgi kaay saath intinahyee khoobsoorat guftugu ki, jo paish e khidmat hai

Q:  showbiz mein kesay aanay huwa, kahin waalid sahib to iss field mein aanay per raazi nahin kiya

MS:na hi abu nay kaha na hi mein nay kabhi socha tha showbiz field join karon gi lekin qismat phhir bhi iss taraf lay aayee. Mujhay log shakal o soorat ki wajah say aksar kaha kartay thay kay mein modeling karoon lekin mein nay kabhi iss baat per tawajah nahin dee thi. Taahu shadi kay baad showbiz join karnay ki umang dil mein jaagi to mein nay apnay shohar sey ijaazat maangi unhon nay razamandi ka izhaar kar diya yoon mein nay kaam ka baqayeda aaghaz kar diya. Isliye naa is mein abu ka israr huwa na hi meri koi planning

Toon yeh silsila chal nikla. Abhi tak paanch telefilms, aik sitcom aur chhay serials kay ilawa mutadid modeling assignments kar chuki hoon. Aur yeh sab kaam sirf mujhay khud apni wajah say mila hai. Baray baray funkaron kay bachay is field mein sirf isliye nakaam ho jaatay hain kay unhain apni salaheyton say zyada apnay waledain kay taluqat per bharosa hota hai to is silsilay mein yehi kahon gi, screen per kissi say kuchh chhpa nahin reh sakta , aap jo bhi hain sab ko nazar aa jaata hai. Isliye yeh kehna ghalat ho gaa kay yahan kisi taaluq kayliye koi kissi ki hosla afzayee karta hai. Mujhey khud yeh soch kar achha lagta hai kay meray waalid ki is field mein izzat hai lekin kabhi unkay taaluqat ko istimal nahin kiya haan lekin log unki wajah sey izzat kartay hain.

Q: filmon mein kaam karnay kay hawalay say kiya iraday hain

MS: jahan tak filmon mien kaam karnay ki baat hai to mera filhal filmon mein kaam karnay ka irada nahin hai mustaqbil ka kuch keh nahin sakti. Kyonke mujhay laga hai ab kuchh behtar filmain ban-na shru huyee hain lekin jaisi routine mein ban rahi hain un mein kaam karnay ka mera hosla nahin hai.

Q: pasandida funkar konsay hain

MS: mein nay har aik kay kaam ko dekh kar kuchh na kuchh seekha hai . har funkar ki apni ahmiyat hoti hai . mein career kay iss mor per nahin hoon jahan kisi kay kaam per tanqeed kar sakoon kyonke abhi to mujhey bohat saara kaam seekhna aur aagay jaana hai. Isliye itnay bhi saathi iswaqt tv industry mein apni jaga bana chukay hain who qabil tareef hain aur dunya bhar mein hamaray tv kay funkaron ko siraha jata hai.

Q: aapkay nazdeek husan aur khobsorti kay mayar kiya hai

MS: insaan agar andar say khobsorat aur khush mizaj hai to meray nazdeek yehi asal khoobsorti hai. Aap ka chehra aur husan jitna qudrat kay qareeb ho ga utna hi aap haseen hon gay, mein nay logon ko haseen honay ki khwahish mein paaglon ki tarah koshishain kartay dekha hai lekin mera yaqeen hai khuda nay hum sab ko hi khoobsorat banaya hai isliye agar zaahir ki bajaye baatin ko chamkayen to zyadah behtri aa sakti hai.

Q: doosron ki shakhsiyat mein kis cheez say mutaasir hoti hain

MS: achhi guftugo muhay mutaasir karti hai. Zahanat aur aqal saamnay waalay ki guftugu say hi zaahir hoti hai

Q: aayenah dekhnay kay baad aik soch jo hamesha aati ho

MS: yehi soch aati hai kay khuda nay achhi shakal o soorat di hai

Q: kiya is sach ko jhutlaya jaa sakta hai kay Pakistan ki faishon , tv ya fashion industry per Indian culture kay saaye hain

MS: bilkul sahih hai humari industry per Indian culture kay saaye hain. Mein khud is baat say mutafiq hoon. Hum unkay andaz mein pehan-nay, aurhnay aur jeenay ka andaz dikhanay mein fakhar mehsoos kartay hain , humaray gharon ka nizam bhi ussi siqafat say mutaasir hota jar aha hai. Bohat say channels to chal hi issi agenday per rahay hain kay pata hi nahin chalta kay kahan say humari had khatam hoti hai aur unki shru ho jaati hai, lekin sirf bura kaam nahin ho raha hai, hum bohat sanjeeda naweeyat kay takhliqi dramay bhi bana rahay hain to woh logon ko yaad reh jaatay hain. Humain yeh yaad rakhna ho ga kay hum Pakistani hain, humari pehchan alag hai jisay Indian culture mein zam karnay mein jumain khatra hai

Q: dunya kay funkar mukhtalif mulkon mein kaam kar rahay hain ,humaray funkar is moqa say fayeda nahin uthha patay. Is ki kiya wajah hai

MS: kyonke humaray haan funkaron ko yahan kaam hi nahin milta to who apnay aap ko kesay polish kar kay bayenul iqwami satah per mutaarif karwa saktay hain. Yeh aik sanjeeda masla hai jin logon nay yahan behtreen kaam kiya, unhon nay baahir bhi apna aap manwa liya. Humaray paas bohat si aisi roshan masalin bhi hain. Isliye humain sanjeedgi say yahan mowaqeh peda karnay ki zaroorat hai. Takay hum bayenul iqwami satah per apnay funkaron ko mutaarif karwa sakain

Q: apni zindagi ki kamyabi kiya samjhti hain

MS: mein abhi uss manzil say door hon jahan mein yeh keh sakoon kay mein kamyab ho gayee hoonk kamyabi kay hasool kayliye koshaN hoon

Q: kiya humaray funkaro kay liye training academy ki zaroorat hai

MS: bilkul bohat zyada zaroorat hai, kyonke dunya bhar mein funkar training kay zariye apni khamiyon per qabu paa letay hain  humain bhi jald ya badair aisay idaray banana parain gay. Is kaam mein taakheer ki wajah say humara bohat saara talent zaaya ho raha hai

Q: aapkay waalid apki mashwaron yaah tanqeed say nawaztay hain yaa nahin

MS: meray waalid sahib kabhi bhi meray kaam per asar andaaz nahin hotay. Mujhey abhi tak jitna bhi kam mila hai apnay talent kay bal botay per mila hai. Mera bhai aur mein jo bhi kar rahay hain apni madad aap kay tehat kar rahay hain. Abu nay kabhi kisi kay paas ja kar humaray liye sifarish nahin ki aur na hi who sifarish per yaqeen rakhtay hain unka kehna kay talent ko sifarish ki zaroorat nahin hoti. Jahan tak acting tips ki baat hai to unhon nay kabhi acting tips nahin deen haan meri waalida mera aur meray bhai kaa kaam ghor say dekhti hai aur batati bhi hain kay kahan behtari ki jaa sakti hai aur mazeed behtari kesay mumkin hai. Sab jaantay hain meray waalid aik bohat hi manjhay huway funkar hain is hawalay say dekha jaye to hum donon behan bhaiyon say kuchh ghair maamoli perform karnay ki tawaqa ki jaati hai . yoon hur assignment humaray liye aik imtihan hoti hai hum apnay waalik kay paye kay adakar to shayed na bun sakain lekin unkay bachay honay kay naatay hum per aik bhaari zimadari aayed hoti hai . baaqii jitna bhi kaam mil raha hai poori lagan aur mehnat kay saath kar rahi hoon

Q: shohar ki taraf say kabhi pabandi kaa saamna karna para

MS: kabhi bhi nahin, koi bhi orat shohar kay tuawun kay baghair ghar say baahir kaam nahin kar sakti, mein nay jesay pehlay hi bataya kay mein kaam ka aaghaz shaadi kay baad kiya hai to zaahri baat hai kay shohar ki khoshi aur marzi kay saath mein is field mein hoon

Q: future planning kiya hai

MS: munfarid kaam karna chahti hoon. Apni shinakht banana hai. Abhi filmon mein kaam karnay kay hiwalay say koi irada nahin hai lekin agar mustaqbil mein achhay kaam ki offer hoyee to dekhon gi.

Khoobsorat nain naqsh ki haamil basalayehat adakaara maya ali nay nihayat kam waqt mein apni salayehaton ka loha manwaya hai aur aaj taqreeban har doosray dramay mein yeh khoobsorat adakara nazar aati hai.

Maya ali nay nawai waqt ko diye gaye interview mein kaha kay mein nay apna pehla audition Pakistan television kay liye diya to nakaam ho gayee leikin is nakaami ko mein nay ser per sawaar nahin kiya aur musalsal kaam ki justuju mein lagi rahi jab jab jahan jahan moqa mila audition diya jab mera audition clear huwa to bay ikhtiyaar meri aankhain chhalak pareen then. Waledain raazi naa thay liekin unko aitmaat mein lekar aakhir kaar mana hi liya. Modeling bhi saath saath jaari rakhi lekin jab dramon mein kaam kbarhnay laga to modeling thori kam kar di.

Meri khosh qismati hai kay mujhey achi team kaay saath kaam karnay kaa moqa mila hai. Jahan tak filmon mein kaam karnay ki baat hai to mein zaroor karon gee lekin shirt yeh hai kay kirdaar mein adakaari dikhhnay ki bohat zyada gunjayesh mojood ho. Kirdaar ko sign kartay waqt jaldbaazi say kaam nahin leti.

Tamam zaroori amoor per tawajah denay kay baad kissi faislay per phanchti hoon aik sawal kaay jawab nay kahan kay hamaray tamam adakaa hi bohat acchay hain lekin sanam balcoh, ahsan khan aur faysal qureshi kaay sath kaam kary kay bohat accha lagta hai aur bohat kucch seekhnay ko milta hai. Faisal qureshi to adakaari kaay muamlay mein school ki haisiyat rakhhtay hain, unki adakaari mein bohat infradiyat hoti hai.

Aaiza khan aur durre shehwaar kaay saath kaam karnay ki bohat khawahish thi jab mujhey yeh moqa mila to meri khushi ki inteha naa thi. Mujehy jab koi kaam samajh nahin aata to bila jhijhak pooch liya karti hoon set per kissi kisam ki confusion ho to mujh say kaam nahin hota . maya kaa ahsan khan kaay saath aik drama on air hai uss main unkaay kirdaar kay hawalay say baat kartay huway unhoon nay kahan kay yeh do behnon ki kahani hai aur mein apni bari behan kayliye kucch bhi karnay ko tayar hoti hooon.

Mujhey yaad hay kay dramay kay hawalay say meri ahsan khan say pehli mulaqaat thi to mein khaasi nervous thi . dar rahi thhi kay kahin kissi baat per unn say daant na par jaye kyonkay ahsan khan aik senior artist hai.

Lekin mein hayraan reh gayee jab unkaa kaam kay muamlay mein taawun dekhha unhon nay chhoti say chhoti baat bhi pyar say samjhai jahan jahan adakaari mein meri khamiyan then unhain door karnay kay liye unhon nay khaasi tips deen jin say mujhey bohat fayeda huwa. Yoon unkay saath kaam karna khushgawar tajaruba raha meri khawahish hai unkay saath mazeed kaam karnay ka moqa milay. Maya nay kahan kay rawaan saal meray career kay hawalay say khaasa yaadgar raha . umeed hay kay naya saal mazeed kamiyaabian lekar aaye gaa.

Interview content in roman urdu

Pakistan mein cooking channels ki aamad kaay baad celebrity ki aik nayee khhaip saamnay aaye hai jinhain log chef yaa cooking expert kaay naam say jantay hain. In logon ki maqbooliyat ka graf bhi kissi showbiz celebrity say kam nahin nahin hain. MUHAMMAD zakir nay iss muqaam tak pohanchnay kay liye baray papar belay hain. Guzishta 27 baras say iss shobay say munsalik hain aur unka kehna hai kaay iss kay ilaawa unhain koi aur kaam aata bhi nahin. Guftugu ki ibtida mein unhoon nay kahan kaay yeh baat durust hai kaay jo cooking channel per khaana banana sikkha raha uskay kiye chef kaa lafaz istimaal ho raha hai. Mehaz scree per likkh denay say chef koi nahin ban sakta. Hum nay iss per aitraaz kiya thha jis kay nateejay mein ab cooking epert ka lafaz istimaal ho raha hai. Chef ban-nay kay liye aik lambi tarbiyat ki zaroorat hoti hai . issi wajah say Pakistan mein gharelo khatton kabhi chef nahin ban sakti/ unhon nay bataya kay who tanhayee mein rotay hain aur apnay rab say dua kartay hain kaay who unhain apni panah mein rakhhay kyonkay rab nay unhain bohat shohrat o izzat bakhshi hai.

Pakistan army yaa airforce say wabasta honay ki khwahish rakhnay waalay chef MUHAMMAD zakir nay apnay career ka aaghaz karahi kay aik five star hotel say kiya. Taweel arsa beroon mulk mukhtalif hotels say munsalik rahay wahan chef ko khaas rutba haaskil hota hai isliye kabhi kissi bhi kaam kay liye line mein lagna nahin para. Mukhtalif dukanon per 25 % discount ki sahoolat bhi haasil rahi. 1991 mein Pakistan waapis aa kar aik cooking idaaray say wabasta ho gaye unkay waalid aur bhayion samait khandaan kaay 27 afraad is shobay say munsalik hain.

Pehla darja third cook kehlaata hai iss kaay baad do teen baras kaay kaam kaay baad second cook aur mazeed teen baras kaam kaay baad first cook aur iss haisiyat mein paanch baras kaam karnay kaay baad ussayy chef de party kaa darja haasil hota hai. Is darjay per mazeed paanch baras tajarba haasil kanray kaay baad ussay suchef kaa darja diya jaata hai issi tarah batad-reej who senior chef yaa fighter cheff kay rutbay per pohanchta hai. Iss tarha cheff ki mukhtalif speciality hoti hai maslaan butcher chef jo sirf gosht kaatnay kay liye makhsoos hota hai. Baaz chef bakery ki cheezon mein maharat rakkhtay hain. Baaz Italian khhanon mein to baaz salad banatay hain. Kucch chef Chinese khhanon kaay maahir. Issi tarah jo log tamam shobon kay maahir hotay hain unhain fighter chef kaha jaata hai jo all rounder hota hai aur ussay har tarah kaay khhanay bana-nay mein maharat haasil hoti hai.

Q: aap nay kaha kay Pakistani gharelo khatoon chef nahin ban sakti is ski wazahat karain.

ZQ: is field mein bohat zyada mehnat darkaar hoti hai aap ka kachumar ban jaata hai

Q: aapkay khayal mein Pakistani khatoon zyada mehanti nahin hoti

ZQ: bilkul hoti hain lekin chef ki tarbiyat ki ibtida subah chhay bajay hoti hai aur baz auqaat aapki mustaqil baara yaa chaubis ghantay bhi duty deni parti hai aur chaar paanch saal bohat sakht mehnat karna hoti hai tab jaat kar is field mein apna loha manwaya jota hai

Q: Switzerland aur germany mein iss hawalay say jo taaleem di jaati hai uskay liye kiya taaleemi qabliyat honi chahiye

Interview of Aamina Mufti – “No one contacted to write another unique drama like ‘Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahin’.”

Ullu Baraye Farokht Nahin (UBFN) is recently concluded serial, of HUM TV. It was applauded for its direction, story and acting. Recently Aamina Mufti writer of the drama has given an interview to Voice of America (VOA) and expressed her views on UBFN and her other writings and contemporary trends in drama writing. While we listen to actors and directors, most of the female writers of drama never appear on media especially television. The fans never hear the opinion of writer about the drama. But Aamina Mufti has appeared on VOA Urdu and talked quite openly on UBFN and current trends in drama writings.

As per Aamina, “No one has contacted her to writer another unique and different drama like UBFN. Demand of drama market is to write something spicy. Once there was repression of Dictator and now it is replaced by TV Channels”.

The interview is done by Madeeha Anwar. Here is the URL to listen to this very interesting half hour interview of Aamina Mufti.
