We are all familiar with the star plus vibe. It is when there is something meant to happen but it takes 2000 episodes to happen. Same is the case with Shahram and Zubiya’s engagement. The venue has changed about 5 times now and we are still on the way to the much-awaited engagement. Well, that is not the highlight since it is a must for Khamoshi, yes dragging.
The worst thing today was Naima’s extreme behaviour. It was so unrelatable even for Naima’s character. We have seen Naima as a pawn of the devil for 33 episodes now. We know she is a bad person. incapable of good. But why on earth was she behaving like that with Atif? The whole demeanour which she adopted from the invitation to the ceremony looked less evil and more childish. Her reaction towards Shahram was also absurd. Like do you not remember what you did to him and your sister? She was just focused on Baray Logon Ka Function!
Shahram’s assistant is also fed up now. I just loved his presence in today’s episode. He just plainly said ke itna bhi selfless nahin hona chahiye. He even went on to explain to Shahram that how life works and that you have to work to get your happiness. But Shahram is still fixated on begging Arsala every chance he gets. Now he was begging her to attend his engagement. His only goal in life is to get insulted by Arsala and still keep helping her and her stupid family.
Bee Jaan’s track has deteriorated to an annoying level now. Why on earth has Shahram not tried to call her? Bee Jaan lives in 2018 and can naturally use the phone. She owned one before Nasreen took it. According to Nasreen and Basit’s story, Bee Jaan is in Saudi Arabia so she should be carrying a phone which Shahram can call. Parr Arsala hi bhai ko sukoon nahin aane de rahi.
I hope Arsala gets the top position in 2018’s worst characters. She just keeps whining, is annoying and spineless, has no self-respect and wears that so not good looking pink lipstick all the time.
I hope Bee Jaan’s track gets wrapped up in the next one at least because the shooting has ended for Khamoshi!
JEEEE! Farigh hi tha! For the ones who watched it, this line is enough to explain the situation. Those who didn’t watch it, well you did well.
Arsala: Marti bhi to nahin hoon main! I think she should die now as a saving grace for this drama. It will also send a fair lesson that people who do not stand up for themselves and keep waiting for a knight in the shining armour (Shahram) die. The initial episodes were okay to justify that Arsala was in a shock that how her family could treat her so badly. But now, after 32 episodes her haaye haaye about the whole scenario is not making any sense. Things might get all flowery in the last episode for her but I’ll never be able to wrap my mind around it. They have shown that Arsala happily goes to people who called her characterless in front of the whole city. And what was that Khamoshi main hi unki jeet hai about? If you know that do something about it. But no, she wants to die.
Shahram is so free most of the times. He should appoint that assistant in his place because he is the one running everything since Arsala’s arrival. He just keeps bouncing between Tahseen’s office and Zubiya’s home. And he also has problems with not preserving his self-esteem. He keeps running back to Arsala and is marrying that SHARRRAMMM for her. Baaqi pooray Karachi main koi larki nahin rahi?
It was good to see Atif coming back to his senses. The whole Naima’s invitation and the meeting was so stupid. The worst being their mother. You use that money to eat, pay bills and shop. So, at least have the courtesy to defend that money if not your daughter. Yes, I have seen there are mothers who behave this way. They have a very partial behaviour and sometimes it becomes difficult to picture them as mothers but this is insane. She keeps behaving like her daughter is working at some brothel.
At this point all the makers have established in the minds of the viewers is that yes, Arsala deserves this humiliation because she has no backbone to defend herself!
Yes, nothing happened. But that is not what bothered me today in this episode since it is a must with Khamoshi. This was the second last episode of this drama and the bad guys are still winning. Kudos to the writer for this ridiculousness and double kudos to the director for not even thinking about changing it. It does not matter how Shahram is going to make everyone payback, it is still stupid that all of them are well and good at this stage.
Engagement planning is in full swing with nobody knowing when the said engagement would take place. They have gone to such lengths to make Zubiya unlikeable that it has become unrelatable instead. Who wants to try on 10 dresses just to buy one? Why a girl like Zubiya who is now getting her wishes fulfilled being bothered by gut feelings? They have maybe lost touch with the reality in a way which is non-fixable. Zubiya’s mom is another pain too and I am not going to write anything on Bee Jaan because no use repeating it.
Arsala is a churail (at least I am going to say that). On what grounds is she so pissed at Shahram? Girl you are the one who didn’t want to marry. You ruined Shahram. You ruined Bee Jaan, the only two people who genuinely loved you. But you are happy for Atif ki nokri and Naima ka gharr. You do not deserve a happy ending in any way.
The overall styling was also soooooo bad in this episode. With super pink lipstick paired with pinky blush, it was hurting my eyes. But then again a girl who was dancing for getting a chance to meet Naima deserves the pinkiest makeup ever.
Naima’s tantrums were again so uncalled for. But what to do? There is nothing substantial left for that character so they make her be as cringy as she can be.
I am so happy the next one is the last episode. Hope they did not change their mind and shoot another one overnight because that will be painful!
I am not sure how am I going to go through writing this review before undergoing a minor nervous breakdown. Yes, many would think I am being very harsh on Khamoshi right now but if you saw the episode last night, you would understand. There is nothing left in the story but we still are going to have two more episodes which are a feat in itself.
The whole scene involving Bee Jaan and her badtameez beta was too much to take. They call women living in a shelter home by their bed numbers like they are some sought of prisoners. (primetimetallahassee.com) Even the fellow woman was calling Bee Jaan Bed Number 4, like whateven! They took half the episode in showing over and over that how Bee Jaan has lost all her maturity and just wants to go back, all thanks to her cruel son. We have such things very common in our society and yes, they had to maintain the balance that only parents but children could also be cruel. But in trying to do that, they are sabotaging the main story big time. They have forgotten that the show is about Arsala ki Khamoshi.
Atif and Naima are not going to get punished. Even in the next episode, they will be seen enjoying the luxuries of life. What is the point of making a drama with over 30 episodes and do not start showing Karma coming for bad people even in 30th? Naima has got the husband, she has the support of her maternal house and now she has all the luxuries too. Somehow moral lesson of the story is that be Naima not Arsala as you will succeed easily as Naima.
Shahram who started off as a mature and kind character has just proven to be a stupid character. Why are you helping Atif? They didn’t even realize that it looks so unrelatable. He didn’t even try to contact Bee Jaan. Yes, he was told that she went to KSA but still she is on this planet. At least he can make a call.
This episode was a total WASTE of time and script. And from the promos looks like it will be the same in the next episode!
Today’s episode was all about revelations of different facts. Arsala was suspicious of her father’s antics when he was not allowing anyone to talk to her and later Haseena confirmed what was actually going on with her life. Haseena’s character shows all those women we see about on news channels every day. They beat and torture their house helps even if they are small kids and are always talking ill about them. Mudassir is too passive and has no backbone to counter his wife’s tantrums. He is that chup chaap uncle of Khamoshi which we have in all our dramas. Such uncles are good at heart but are practically good for nothing. Arsala has finally submitted to her fate as she now knows that her own family has ditched her.Her conversation with Mudassir where she tells him that Haseena has spoken only the truth showed her state of mind.
The original awful character of today’s episode was Shehnaz, not Haseena. At least Haseena is evil and she shows it while on the other hand Shehnaz is exploiting her daughter and showing that how bechari she is. She is a very weak woman and she is not only weak because of her husband but the incoming luxuries are affecting her thoughts too. She has no qualms with Naima’s shopping because Arsala is there to take all burdens. She is even going to emotionally blackmail Arsala for their own gains. Sabir, however, is evil but the guy doesn’t discriminate in sons and daughters. But I think he should think about Naima in the same way as that would double the income of his household but as they say Naima shayed abhi bachi hai.
Naima is a super evil. They have not shown why she is so negative towards Arsala. Apart from Atif, Arsala was very loving and supportive towards her sister. Naima is in some kind of obsession towards Atif as this will not be described as love. For that, she is ever ready to take care of her khala. Atif loves Arsala for which he is even ready to bow down before Sabir but he doesn’t really trust her. Few poisonous words by Naima can make the guy’s thoughts take a negative turn regarding Arsala. Soon he will be turning to Naima, maybe as a revenge from Arsala but seems like larka kanon ka kacha hai.
I am now waiting for Bilal Khan’s entry as it will take things forward. As for the preview, Arsala’s life will be turning worse than it already is. And Shehnaz will make her daughter turn to wreck because now like her husband, all she cares about are thirty thousand rupees. Zara Noor Abbas showed the defeat in Arsala’s mind fabulously today while Iqra Aziz was also extremely good with Naima’s evil portrayal.
What are your thoughts about today’s episode? I found it a bit slow as compared to the previous two episodes. Share your opinions in the comments section below!
I know when it is the 29th episode of a drama and things are still at a place where they were in the 16th or 17th episode, no one can be happy. But I have decided to be happy with this episode because as you read the title, Atif got levelled by Arsala. If you couldn’t believe it the first time, here I write it again in capital letters: ATIF GOT LEVELLED BY ARSALA! It was a surprise to see the Khamosh larki finally using her tongue, an organ she had sworn she would never use. She insulted him the way he deserved to get insulted and threw him out of her office. A good scene to watch which made the other useless and some horrible scenes of the episode tolerable. Now, let’s talk about stuff which was difficult to handle:
I am not able to understand one thing, Shahram is a billionaire, he is humble and handsome. He knows how to run the world then why he could never figure out how to get a girl and everyone in the city is busy searching a perfect dulhan for him. First, it was Nasreen who was worried for his dulhan. Then Bee Jaan was setting him up with Arsala after she found out about his slight interest and now Tahseen is yelling ke woh Shahram ke liye achi larki nahin hai. Why do these ladies not let him on his own? That’s how maybe he starts using his senses which have gone missing since his meeting with Arsala.
The other thing that REALLY bothered me was Bee Jaan’s track. They have filmed it in such a horrible way and the repetition of the track, again and again, is not helping. The constant BED NUMBER 4!!! She is in an old-age home not in a prison. Yes, these places are not really homy always and many of the people experience very hard times but still, it is not like the whole administration just keeps standing on your head calling you bed number 4 and saying bad stuff about you.
Iqra Aziz’s track has gotten lost in the drama somewhere. She just comes repeat the old scenes and goes back to do some other of her project. Her character is not even moving towards a conclusion and same is the case with the mother. It is episode 29 and there is no change in her behaviour either. The next episode is going to be the repetition of this episode with of course not a single new scene as is depicted by the preview.
Let’s wait and maybe we could see Naima’s devastation in 2019!
The episode was nothing short of a headache. Today finally Bee Jaan’s son kicked her out of her own house. The scene was not just painful but disgusting too. Yes, these things are happening in our society but the way Basit’s character took a 180 degrees turn is unacceptable. Basit loved his mother and always respected her opinions but all of a sudden he has become such a pain. Nasreen has succeeded in everything as she sent Bee Jaan to an old age home. Her daughter is finally betrothed to Shahram. All in all, it was a win-win episode for Nasreen.
Arsala has gotten what she was thriving for so badly. She has gotten herself another chance to cry and her self-imposed mazloomiyat was shining brightly in the whole episode. Her constant woh rishta Bee Jaan ki khushi ke liye qaim kiya tha has become annoying to the point of explosion. At this point, Arsala’s character only looks like of a person who gets lucky every time since she never strives for anything. She only cries all the time and waits for some saviour to come and get things right for her, be it Bee Jaan, Tahseen or Shahram.
There is nothing left in Naima’s track. They have brought Atif to Karachi now and in such a huge city he will bump only into Arsala because why not. Naima is waiting for Atif to call her to Karachi while Atif has no intentions of doing that. Naima’s whole dramatic breakdown on Sabir’s death went in vain since people were not buying it. Another instance when Arsala got lucky because the girl does not even bother to do something when her character was being slandered so badly.
The actress who plays Zubiya seems so bored in all of her scenes that one cannot even think of her as evil. She has put zero efforts to make the character look real or obsessed with Shahram. Nasreen is the one who looks like Shahram ki ultimate deewani instead of Zubiya.
The preview for episode 29 is up and it will not be the last episode. Seems like Khamoshi is working hard to become Alif, Allah Aur Insaan 2!
P.S: No one talks at an old home like BED NUMBER 4 again and again!
The characters of this drama should be referred for a psychiatric evaluation. Yes due to the high TRPs makers want to extend it as much as possible, it is understandable but still its high time that they start providing closure to all the stuff going on. There are far too many useless tracks that can be wrapped up now.
The whole episode was about degrading Arsala as much as possible. Naima did what she always does. She started accusing Arsala of Sabir’s death, the same Sabir she hated herself. She claimed that Arsala was characterless n front of the whole crowd there for her father’s death and guess what! No one stopped her. Because its a normal thing in Arsala universe to make stupid scenes on your father’s death. The mother is the most horrible character in this drama. She also thinks her daughter is doing something immoral to get money for the household and she asked her young daughter to go and never come back because that is normal too in Arsala universe. The most disturbing thing in all this is that Arsala who they are trying to show as the independent girl taking care of the whole house since the start did not say anything in defence. She was silently standing there ke aao meri beizzati karo.
Atif was Naima 2 in this episode. All he was concerned about was why Shahram is spending money on everything. The only sensible guy in the whole episode was Mirza Sahib. He showed Atif mirror on his stupid tantrums twice. He was the only one pointing out that Atif was the one who should have taken care of all the bills and he even pointed out how evil Naima is making him the hero of Khamoshi.
At this point I cannot understand are they supporting Khamoshi? That people should keep listening to crap from others because that makes them look shareef and mashriqi? They should have shown Arsala standing up to people who were slandering her than just making her cry and silently go back.
Shahram is spending so much time with Arsala that his judgement has become cloudy. He is acting like a dumbo because now Arsala was ready to say yes, he is going to marry Zubiya. He should stay away and clear his head a bit. It is alright if he does not marry Arsala at this point but marrying psycho Zubiya is not something he deserves.
The next episode is again going to show horrible stuff happening to Bee Jaan and I don’t know how can people take it as it is not the last episode!
P.S: They forgot to remove red makeup from Iqra’s nose in the scenes she was not crying!
The big reveal for this episode would have been Sabir’s death but we already knew about it from the last week’s preview. Even his permission for Arsala to get married to Shahram was already shown in the preview. Sabir got ab heart attack and the whole family was again being shitty. The mother’s attitude is so disappointing that I cannot describe it in words. She didn’t even hear the whole thing from Sabir or Arsala or anyone else and presumed that her daughter is characterless. Now, what were your thoughts on your younger daughter chasing her sister’s fiance lady? She will accept her money and make her work like bulls but still blame her for all the bad stuff happening in the world.
Atif’s attitude is incomprehensible too. You left her, married her sister and realized later that you were wrong but you are still being a whiner about it? Passing comments on Shahram are too uncalled for from a man who married his fiance’s sister. Naima was being her normal self with saying stupid stuff about everyone and not helping the family with her dowry money. Her outburst on Arsala is also not making any sense now since her husband does not care about her even when Arsala is not around.
The worst thing about today’s episode was the protagonist being slut-shamed for no reason at all. From the preview it looks like that she will not even bother to defend her character. They somehow tried to make Sabir’s permission the highlight of the story but what about them showing a girl working day and night for a thankless family and not even say a word when they trash her character. I think marriage and romanticism took a seat back today when they showed her crying in every spot and are making her a Khamosh larki on such a sensitive topic, that too in the last few episodes of the drama. This is a point where she should have spoken for her rights. She can atleast share everything with Guddu. But in the end, good story and script can go to hell and Khamoshi wins!
Okay so let’s start is with something this episode deserves for its description. BLAH! There was so much screeching involve in this episode, my ears are still sensitive and near the edge of bleeding. We have seen girls fighting like mean cats over heroes in our dramas. There has been sister rivalry which we saw in Khamoshi too. Then we have seen the same stuff happening to a group of friends and yes, of course, the cousins. But Khamoshi now has a mother who screeches and fights over the boy she wanted to have for her daughter. The whole episode revolved around Nasreen’s antics and it was a misery to witness it.
The way Bee Jaan’s track has gone sour is a headache. She has become the orphaned child whom all the relatives mistreat. She was crying for FOOD! That scene was downright despicable. She was shown in the beginning as a woman with a lot of authority and composure. She was not getting any family time even before Arsala came into the picture but she was fine with it. But now she just keeps shouting for either the staff or Nasreen and Zubiya. Nasreen is making her life miserable and on the other hand, she is making sure that Zubiya becomes a complete obsessive psychopath. Zubiya’s Main Khobsuart Nahin Hoon is also very annoying because the track has not been covered at all in the drama that why she is having complexes and the girl they have cast is quite well made up and pretty which is not serving their story well.
Arsala’s blame games towards Shahram proved that at some level she has the Shehnazness and Naimaness in her. The way she blamed ke mere adhay maslay unki wajah se hain was downright absurd. Shahram has turned into a total damsel in distress who just does not know how to cope with any situation and consequently, everyone is insulting him which honestly speaking he deserves.
Guddu’s familiarity with Shahram was also sudden and seems like Sabir will be the person who will make Arsala agree to marry Shahram after all.
One thing I want to commend is the makers’ talent for making everyone a mazloom bahu regardless of their genders!
Dragging it to hell beautifully explains the situation with Khamoshi. It is (maybe was) a good script which had the potential to hook people to the screens. But quantity is winning over quality lately and we saw another episode which is just not easy to understand. This episode has so many cringy scenes that the ones with Iqra Aziz crying over Atif seemed bearable. Arsala has proved to be a bad influence on Shahram as the boy has totally turned into a Khamosh Larka in every front of his life and has lost his backbone which he used to have in the initial episodes. The pretend and guess got too dragged today as now Arsala was getting an engagement ring over telling Bee Jaan the truth because apparently, Bee Jaan who puts up with all the tantrums of her own family is so faint of heart that she will not be able to tolerate little Arsala not getting married.
The sudden entry and reactions of Nasreen and company showed that either they have very very (very to the infinity) low IQs or they are suffering from some kind of obsessive disorder and need sudden treatment. She started yelling at Arsala, she insulted Shahram as well as Bee Jaan. She blamed Shahram to be a shallow person who has fallen for Arsala ka husn. Basit who seemed like a reasonable person in the start also played along and was stupidly rude towards a boy who had just paid for their luxury vacation. As for Zubiya she has the same Sara syndrome, Sara from Humsafar suffered from. Her bohat jald humara rishta hone wala tha was both absurd as well as surprising. Shahram’s reaction towards this crazy family was strange. He transformed into Arsala who just tolerates everything and doesn’t answer back.
Naima is still consistent with her problems as well as her mother who just has forgotten that she has two other kids too. Forget about Arsala, she doesn’t even care about Guddu. Sabir is still whining over what he has done to Arsala’s life and is also asking for forgiveness.
This drama had a decent script, good lead couple, an excellent negative Naima, in short, it had the potential to stand out but the makers have made it another Alif Allah Aur Insaan where you start wishing it to end. Ending today’s review with the hope that the show will end before Arsala ki Khamoshi is transformed into Bee Jaan ki Khamoshi!
So the episode opened with a similar sequence we saw in Humsafar. Our beautiful Arsala was enjoying the rain shower while the handsome Shahram was standing there and enjoying seeing Arsala have a good time. Then yes our girl asked him to sense the feels of Baarish which he did like a good boy. Here I want to write it in capital letters: ARSALA SMILED THE SHARMEELI WALI SMILE AT HIM! And I like many of the innocent viewers thought ke Hassi Toh Phassi (in this particular case of course). But no, she wants Shahram (and us) to suffer even more. Arsala is clearly giving out signals that she wants to be with Shahram and then she starts blaming him like he is trying to kill her or something. Her concern regarding her family is acceptable as per the story but a girl like Arsala who never even blamed Naima for what she did is blaming Shahram for no reason.
Bee Jaan is meddling again in both of the leads lives and wants to see them together. And to make her happy Arsala and Shahram are pretending to be hone wale dulha dulhan which is absurd. She is Bee Jaan and not a 3 year old whom they are trying to fool. Arsala at least should come up with her true feelings in front of Bee Jaan so she could help her with the whole situation. But no they will play make-believe for 3 or 4 episodes because why not?
Naima and Shehnaz’s situation is incomprehensible at this point. Arsala does not come home anymore. She sends money on time and still they keep blaming her for whatever turmoil Naima is facing in her marriage. Maybe the dialogue writer ran out of more lines and consequently Naima is stuck with Main tum se bohat mohabbat karti hoon and Maine humare liye bohat se khawab dekhay thay.
With the last episode being a good progress, I was hoping to see the story move forward. They should have made Arsala come to terms with her feelings for Shahram so they could go for the whole family fiasco which would follow. Khamoshi has been a big victim of dragging storyline. Let’s hope the next episode will solve the Zubiya plot and Arsala will finally admit that she likes that bechara khawar hota hua larka too and maybe stop friend-zoning or Bee Jaan-zoning him!
Yessss! Finally, an episode which was cute through and through and things all the viewers wanted to see have initiated. Episode 22 is a good day in our Khamosh boy’s life. After doing a lot of good for our Khamosh larki and getting his feelings snubbed by her every time, finally, she is falling. We saw you falling for Shahram today Arsala and we are happy that you are using your brain to feel for your own self. The relationship between these two has been portrayed very beautifully and it was a much-needed progression after Naima’s Atif kaho main lakhon main aik hoon stuff. Pakistanis love food and our food always pay a greater role in our lives than just being a daily necessity. After Kashaf falling for Zaroon on getting burned by the iconic chai ka cup, here is our Arsala falling for Shahram over khaney ka bartan. So food did for him what Shahram was not really being able to do for himself, after all his endeavours for Arsala. She REALLY noticed his care and love!
Since Khamoshi has started we see Mirza Sahab wandering here and there for no big reasons. But today, Mirza Sahab rocked. He served as an eye-opener for Atif and the way he showed Naima her place was love. Atif is somewhat back in senses after being confused for so long. He is regretting and since there is nothing left he can do, he is subtly trying to save his ego by chanting Main Arsala se nafrat karta hoon over and over.
Naima is finally starting to face karma. She does not have the money anymore. Atif hates her and loved how her mother in law clarified the whole situation for her. Her situation can also be explained as episode 22 was a bad day for our Naima. It is always good to see annoying and evil characters tasting the piece of their own cake. Shahnaz is still very annoying though. She is constantly blaming Arsala for everything and wants her to loot a bank maybe for her committees.
It was the best episode so far. Zara Noor Abbas and Bilal Khan were too good in all their scenes. They looked natural and were successful in bringing an air of innocence with their chemistry. Shahram’s flower scene with Bee Jaan was also super cute. Looks like Bee Jaan will end up at Shahram’s house.

MERI TAREEF KARO! KAHO MAIN LAKHON MAIN AIK HOON! CRINGE! CRINGE! Uff…Okay, so this is what Naima’s character will be if we describe it in two and a half lines. Yes, there are people who are obsessive psychopaths, who touch the ultimate heights of selfishness and never care an ounce about the living beings around them. But the cringiness level attached to Naima has reached another level. Why the hell are you plastering yourself against Atif and asking him in psychopathic voice and expressions to call you pretty? Naima is the same girl who manipulated the hell out of everyone to get Atif and now she wants the Miss World crown. Iqra Aziz deserves an applause on this performance. She must have been cringing herself at this point of shoots when all her scenes and dialogues were involved about her trying to express Naima’s new-found obsession with Miss World crown. Moreover, her constant rift with her khala is also not understandable. Why are you making things difficult for yourself girl? Looks like in order to make people hate Naima’s character, the writer took it to a level that it has lost a touch to reality. Because now she is not evil, she looks like a patient who needs some psychiatric help which is not making her look like a vamp but just a simple patient of obsession.
Atif’s relationship with Naima has gone up in flames and the thing which was super annoying about him is back again. He was asking his mother that she should have stopped him from marrying Naima. The super confused is back with no knowledge of his surroundings as he was not able to comprehend Naima’s games and couldn’t comprehend the source of dowry either. Why did he think the money belonged to Sabir when Arsala was the sole bread-winner which everyone in the city knows about. The only right thing he did was he took the leftover money back which he will return to Sabir and Shehnaz.
Moving on, its spring season for Arsala and love is in the air. Yes, she was still shooting down Shahram’s sweet gestures with annoying stuff but still, she is falling in line. Her and Bee Jaan’s relationship is very sweet and it was good to watch that Bee Jaan was still defending her son like a normal mother who loves her children would. Shahram is hopeful that Arsala might accept his love but again we know there are still episodes left.
It was a balanced episode with cringiness of Atif and Naima’s relationship balanced out by Arsala and Shahram’s (mainly Shahram as Arsala was still being annoying) sweetness.
The previews are making me think that Atif might ultimately divorce Naima. What are your thoughts?
This drama as expected has fallen victim to extreme dragging and in order to increase the number of episodes, they are just going to make every character loose mind and start whining over stupid, senseless stuff. Arsala, a girl who is hated by everyone, her parents exploit her and her sister is an unleashed monster who is always busy plotting her death, never ever says a word in front of anyone. But one person who tries to make things easy for her is so unacceptable that she starts whining and complaining that how horrible he is. The scene where he brings sweets was the most annoying scene in the whole episode. Why the hell are you complaining ke aap yahan kyun aaye when you always end up running to him for help? With 20 episodes down, even if you want to drag at least make the heroine like the bechara hero.
Shehnaz is another character who will probably never reach towards any realization and is obviously a negative character but make her do something other than writing essays on committees. She just keeps complaining about committees and is so naive that she could not figure out that Naima just does not want to lend her money while she is the same person who has made a whole story about how Arsala is cutting their allowance. Sabir’s realization has also proved to be extremely useless since he just is seen pouring out his philosophies at home and is not taking any action to bring things in order.
Naima is brilliantly played by Iqra Aziz, she has made this character extremely hateable and is hands down the best performer in Khamoshi. But the story is dragged so much that there is a limit a person can take a drama to some level. They have made all her scenes about abusing Arsala and fighting Atif and his mother. Naima was a character who used to plot against everyone in order to get things right for herself but all she does now is ATIF MERI TAREEF KARO!
Next episode is just going to be all about Bee Jaan and Arsala reunion. Since Bee Jaan’s family has turned her into Arsala number 2. Let’s hope the bad guys will start getting punished in the upcoming episodes because even if they want to get it to 30 episode mark, it will be a delight to watch the bad ones pay for their deeds in the last 10 episodes!
The pace with which this drama is progressing is commendable. Two episodes down and the story has progressed at a constant speed bringing on the original theme of the play. The director has really done a good job of not wasting any more time on showing the rift between Atif and Sabir or the financial miseries he introduced at the very start. Two new characters were introduced in this episode and they are the people Arsala was shown working for in the promos. He is Arsala’s distant uncle who was in a desperate need of house help since no one in Karachi can tolerate his wife’s tantrums.
Tauqeer Nasir translated the greediness of Sabir perfectly on screen today. The way his eyes light up by having just a glance at 30 thousand rupees showed his mentality. Sabir knows his daughter is not there just to help her bechari chachi but is hired as a maid. His sudden exhaustion with factory’s work and the way whole family starts having halwa puri showed how people in our society exploit the ones who do not complain. Naima is a true evil and the way her mother always refers to her as an inexperienced bacchi is annoying. Shehnaz cares for Arsala but this episode showed how weak and unfair she really is. While one of her daughters is far away, working day and night to put food on their tables; the other one is planning to buy clothes from that money and Shehnaz could not even make her help with household chores. Arsala’s brother is the only character who loves her but he has no say in anything since he is a child.
Amber Khan is playing the beemar chachi Haseena. Her acting was a bit over the top. It looks like she was trying too hard to bring out that evil factor in her voice, though her styling and overall persona showed perfectly well how difficult a woman she is. Atif knows his engagement is broken but to be honest he is not really trying to get Arsala back. He has adopted the easy way of being hungry and laying in bed. His mother is also not making any efforts and seems like a person who doesn’t really care whether his son gets married to her niece or not.
Zara Noor Abbas translated the theme of the show brilliantly on screen. Her Khamoshi towards all the exploitation really portrays what happens to such people in our society who do not fight back and trust too much. She loves her family and trusts her sister who is visibly selfish. Khamoshi shows how the society likes to crush people who care too much and exploit them for their own gains. Iqra Aziz is playing the evil character better than her normal bechari ones. The preview of next episode shows how Arsala’s father will cut her off from the whole family and will make her their personal ATM. Let’s see what happens next and how will they introduce Bilal Khan in the whole scene.

It was a good episode to summarise it in few words. Since Khamoshi has started, we are watching Arsala getting exploited by her family. The only thing that keeps getting repeated is the awfulness of Arsala’s family. Today’s episode though showed how awful that family is (Again!) but it was not the focus of the episode. Things got better for Arsala in every aspect. She has got a permanent job with a lot of respect. Her living situation is settled and she is focusing on her studies. Arsala’s reaction towards Shahram is still very confusing. He was rash and wrong in some things but why is she hating one person in the whole world who is not after her money and is trying to help her. Shahram is literally going out of his way in everything to make Arsala’s life better. From financing the NGO to getting her a laptop, he is leaving no stone unturned to assure that Arsala never experiences the sharp edge of circumstances again.
Bee Jaan was Arsala today. Her family is against her, her son is totally under his wife’s influence. They have gone petty to an extent where they are not even letting her having a cup of tea. Nasreen’s claim over Shahram is just too annoying. They have not shown any bachpan ki mangni nor did Shahram’s character ever showed any interest in Zubiya, the claim is therefore very uncalled for. Moreover, Zubiya’s parents are still whining over Shahram and not trying to fix their daughter somewhere else. Shahram has made it clear that he is not interested in your daughter then go and find some acha rishta instead of bullying Bee Jaan. But seems like this track is not getting wound up anytime soon.
Sabir’s change of heart has turned into a complete tale of regrets. He wants the other people in the family to feel the same way too. The way he semi-insulted Atif was a good one too. Shehnaz, on the other hand, is just interested in the money and is using that money to have more celebrations for Naima. She does not care about Sabir, her only son Guddu or Arsala, her only focus is Naima aur uski shaadi. Naima is getting more annoying and Atif is still acting like a confused bechara so nothing new in that track.
The episode ended on a good note. Let’s see how Arsala will have a change of heart for Shahram!
One thing I want to say first, Arsala is one lucky girl as far as her professional life is concerned. She just keeps getting good jobs one after the other; well the Haseena one was horrible in the start later it got better and her next stint was slightly sloppy but still, she keeps getting to good places. That said, watching today’s episode was like watching the very first episodes of the drama. All the director focused on today was to show that how shallow and annoying Arsala’s family can be like we did not notice that in the last 17 episodes. This drama has so much repetition in everything that despite being a good story; one gets annoyed at some point.
Naima was again being her evil self and her mother is the same too. One good thing Khamoshi has highlighted that Yes! parents do exploit their children. Parents do partiality and favour some of their children wrongly. Though this happens in every single household, it never gets talked about because how can one blame their parents. Shehnaz is the real culprit for Arsala’s tragic life because the way she stood for Naima she could have stepped up for Arsala but she is the one greedier than Sabir. She is the one like her younger daughter. The point was highlighted nicely by the visit of Shehnaz to Naima’s house that how partial she is, she is subtly insulting her sister for the sake of Naima and does not even care when Arsala goes missing.
Shahram has reached Arsala and is helping her in every way he can! Again! But our Arsala will wait to realize how wonderful that man is because the makers want more episodes and just cannot wrap the story up even if there is nothing new or substantial left in it. Sabir’s change of heart is a good thing to watch, at least someone in Arsala’s family is trying to not be annoying but the development is not of any help to Arsala.
Bee Jaan has become the Arsala of her house. Her son is not supporting her and the way Nasreen and Zubiya think of Shahram as their property is not understandable because the boy has clearly told them his choice.
Khamoshi is getting extremely dragged which is making the story lose its charm. They should wrap it up in an episode or two now. What do you guys think?
P.S: Did anyone notice Bee Jaan said the wrong name while talking to Shahram? She called Haseena Naima.
Khamoshi went totally senseless in this episode both in plot and the emotions expressed. The proposal from Shahram obviously was going to have a very negative effect on Arsala’s life in Bee Jaan’s house and that is what happened too. Nasreen and Zubiya who were introduced as manipulative characters in the drama behaved so irrationally. Why did they throw Arsala out? Because this way not only Shahram will hate them more, Arsala could have an open chance to go and marry him. Zubiya all of a sudden has the insecurity about her looks. Basit finally bowed in front of his wife and spoke against Bee Jaan. Bee Jaan also was behaving very senselessly in this episode and it was boring to watch her like that because she is also the most rational person in the drama after Shahram. Why was she trying to convince Shahram to not go after Arsala when she wanted to see both of them together.
Arsala’s “Main un se itni nafrat karti hoon jitni kisi ne kisi se nahin ki hogi” was plain stupid. She is a girl whose parents abandoned her even before she got married and she was hating Shahram for trying to help her and proposing her? She did not hate Atif until the very end and also gave many chances to her sister who was calling her characterless but she started hating Shahram for proposing her. Also, she did not go back and did not even try to call them. She already knows they are after her character and still she disappears for no reason at all. Zubiya and Nasreen are the ones who threw her out and there is no reason to not tell the others about this situation.
Shahram is the only character whose mind did not go off at writer’s hands in the episode. He is functioning properly and is leaving no stone unturned to get to Arsala. He even openly told Bee Jaan that she does not care about Zubiya and Nasreen. He has also gotten the NGO name where Arsala is right now but since its Khamoshi, he may not get to her in the next 2 or 3 episodes or so.
Naima has started her wicked tactics with her mother in law too. And her and Atif’s track has gone too boring to watch. All I wanted was to change the channel whenever she comes up on screen because there is nothing new there, not even the dialogues. The same wicked wife and the same whiny husband.
Looks like the next episode will also just be a drag in the story with Naima going off with allegations on Arsala (again!). Stay tuned for more!
The big bomb finally dropped today and I do not even have to mention this that Shahram made the viewers happy. With Shahram’s efforts to bring Arsala and Atif together and the never-ending marriage of Naima, it was a relief to watch Arsala’ track moving towards its destination. Shahram has always been shown as a guy who is kind and humble and does not talk back to anyone. But hold it guys! Because today he was on fire. He not only openly demanded Arsala’s hand but also defended her when Zubiya and her mother started saying nasty stuff about her. The only thing odd about this character is that he has been shown as a very intelligent guy and still he was not able to comprehend what his aunt and cousin wanted from his end? He also knew that they hate Arsala but he still went out to ask for her hand in marriage from the lady who is the grandmother of the girl eyeing him for years.
Zubiya and Nasreen were hysterical as was already expected. They put all blame on Arsala as she was the one trapping Shahram and Shahram was an immature little child who was trapped by her. They started misbehaving with Arsala and Bee Jaan, on the other hand, is not even sure what she wants to do now. She wants to do everything well for Arsala but the choice is now between blood and love. Arsala was again the bechari who does not know what is happening around and was apologizing to every single person on planet earth even before becoming sure about the whole story happening around.
Naima and Atif’s track has now become the ultimate saas bahu ordeal with rifts breaking out on making rotis and cleaning the house. Shehnaz was again being irrational when she was shocked by Atif’s behaviour towards Naima and him making her do the chores. Of course, he is not a very rich man and will expect his wife to do work. And she also knows that he wanted to break off the marriage on the day of Nikkah, so it was not something to get shocked over. Sabir is busy in his pity party again and Naima is still feeling happy by making Atif talk bad about Arsala, not to forget, the same Arsala he was crying over while looking at his chotay shehar ka chand!
Looking forward to Shahram’s next step. Share your thoughts about the big proposal in today’s episode!
The whole story is moving forward now with every character taking steps towards their final destinations. But before all that “HOGAYI NAIMA KI SHADI”. Yes, it finally happened. She has achieved the one and only goal of her life and now she is Mrs. Confused, oh I mean Mrs. Atif. Naima is moving forward towards her final destination and that is tolerating Atif’s mood swings which never seem to stop. Atif was again being whiny and said some stupid stuff to Naima. He was the one who first proposed marriage to Naima and now he is not happy, again, because the final rejection came from Arsala and not him. His behaviour towards Naima was uncalled for and straightforward rude. Naima who is shown as such an egoistic person didn’t even bother to say a word though and she happily married a man who rejected her one day before the ceremony.
Shahnaz is also joining the league of Atif and was confused about her emotions. She wanted to side with Arsala a bit but she also wanted to be the biggest supporter of Naima and both things were not possible simultaneously. Sabir has finally realised his mistakes but not before his daughter lost her space in her own home. He came to this realisation very late.
Arsala and Shahram are moving towards the same shore now. The main leads are finally at a point where we can expect to see them together. Arsala is over Atif and she has no regrets. She clearly explained Atif’s character today. She knows he is not capable of caring for others and is just lost in his own field of emotions. Shahram, however, felt relief on finding out about Arsala’s feelings and looks like, he will not waste any time in making his intentions known. His honesty and sweetness were beautifully translated by Bilal Khan on screen. But Shahram has a long way to go. His aunt and cousin thinks about him as their personal property and losing him to a mere maid will be difficult for them.
Zubia’s character is written and acted out very childishly. Despite all the efforts to make her look stubborn, she only manages to look lazy. The preview is suggesting a blast in the next episode where Bee Jaan will be made to decide between love and blood. It was a good episode overall!
What are your feelings on Naima ki Shadi? Do share!
Today’s episode was undoubtedly the best one since Khamoshi has started. Things got cleared out and everything was out in the open, this is maybe the time when the drama will finally move towards Arsala’s life transformation.
Shahram recognised his love for Arsala and tried to give her everything she “once” had desired. He, however, did not try to know what she wants now. But as his character has been from the start, it was an expected move on his part. He always does the deeds of kindness without becoming obvious. The change of heart by Sabir was a wow moment in today’s episode. Yes he is greedy, he wants money and went to extreme lengths to get facilities in his life but at the end of the day, he was a father who didn’t do partiality. When he was hating his family, he was hating everyone. He never put Naima before Arsala. But the realisation came very late to him, at a time when there is nothing left for Arsala.
The mystery surrounding Naima’s awful behaviour was also solved in today’s episode. She actually is not doing anything unique. She is just walking in her mother’s footsteps. Shehnaz’s behaviour was extremely bad. She is the real culprit for everything happening to Arsala. This is a hard fact of society which is not often talked about in our dramas much but Khamoshi totally showed how the partiality by parents destroy households. She was blaming her sister for everything and was bad mouthing Arsala like she was her step-daughter and Naima became bechari in a second.
Atif-the confused was turning everything upside down in one second for marrying Arsala and in the next, he was slandering her for being involved with Shahram. The confrontation scene between Arsala and Atif was very weak. He was saying stuff about her character and she was standing there with mera peecha chorr do Atif. She is finally off to Karachi and Atif will be getting married to Naima now. Again Naima has neither manners nor self-respect. She will marry the man who is still after her sister.
Next episode will show Atif’s pity party, looks like dragging will start again but this was a good episode with many situations finally getting cleared out!
This episode didn’t have any charm left, all because of the preview they gave in the last episode. The offering of money by Shahram for getting Arsala married to Atif would have been such a great development if the channel had not decided to tell the viewers beforehand about it. Still, Sabir’s greed was easy to win for Shahram as he offered money to him. He didn’t even think about the society’s backlash or the daughter he knows has no manners. One mention of the cheque and he was on a mission to make everything right.
Shahram is coming out as a beautiful character. Now they have shown what the difference between love and obsession is. What Naima had was obsession where she didn’t respect her sister’s feelings and did everything to get Atif while Shahram believes in making the person you love happy by any way you could. Sabir was acting as such an obedient person before him and again cleared himself in front of everyone by reciting his old ballad of majboori. He is a clever person and knows how to get the advantage of every situation.
Atif again proved how horrible he is and that Arsala does not deserve him. Even before Sabir’s suggestion of getting Arsala married to him instead of Naima, he was having second thoughts on his Nikkah day. Naima needs to get her share of slaps but this man just surpassed her in being horrible. His mother is again being the voice of sanity and telling him that this is not practical but somehow Atif had remembered the love he had for Arsala.
The highlight of today’s episode is hands-down the exchange between Arsala and Naima. It was such a disappointment for me when Naima started to slander Arsala and all she did was going out and convincing Sabir that she wants to go back to Karachi. But finally, the moment came today when Arsala gave Naima a little reality check. It was hard to believe that a girl just keeps listening to derogatory remarks about her character. So Arsala did what a normal girl would do and showed Naima the mirror she deserved a look at.
Tauqeer Nasir has performed really well in the role of Sabir making it easily believable and Iqra Aziz has also finely brought out the cringe the viewers should feel towards Naima. Looks like Atif will also get a reality check in the next episode. Let’s see how the story unfolds further!
Finally, the story moved forward today and some of the prevailing Khamoshi was broken. The most expensive wedding of the drama history finally kicked off with Atif’s mehendi. His character is one of the most confused ones written in a decade may be. He does not want dowry but he takes it. He does not want Naima but he will marry her. And he hates Arsala but still will make a scene at his own mehendi because no one can stop him. He is a confused person and will show in every bit of his screen presence that YES I am confused! Why are you trying to get your ex-fiance back now while you are marrying her sister? The conversation between him and Arsala was the highlight of the show today. He flirted with his sister in law and then went on blaming Arsala’s Khamoshi for everything. The question is why were you misunderstanding Arsala in the first place and who cleared your misunderstandings now? Arsala did a good job by giving him a poetic shut up call. This was the right time to break her Khamoshi and she finally showed someone in her life his right place.
Naima might die due to hyper-jealousy before even getting married to Atif. She is more into bad-mouthing Arsala and Sabir. Girl! Just stop your fiance from flirting with Arsala. And stop your future mother in law from still dreaming of making Arsala her bahu. The way Atif’s mother knows what will be the consequences of her son’s rash decisions and is already regretting them is perfectly acted out.
The other family members are still stuck in financial calculations with Sabir mourning over the loss he has suffered. Arsala’s mother’s character has taken a 180-degree turn and no one has bothered to explain why. She is telling Naima to take whatever she wants and has no worry for Arsala’s future, this is becoming utterly confusing because she in the first place always loved Arsala more and never even wanted her to stay in Karachi. But now, all she is concerned about is Naima. She doesn’t even care about Guddu while Naima never even bothers to respect her.
Shahram came with a bang at Sabir’s door and looks like he will offer him money to get Arsala married to Atif. He is keeping his vow of standing silently with Arsala in every aspect of her life. So Khamosh larka is a good larka too and now we have to watch other episodes to find out how he will end up with Khamosh larki! All in all, it was good to see the end of dormancy and the story moving forward finally!
So, the makers of Khamoshi are trying to make a world record of repetition. According to the director and writer, the viewers have very low IQs and cannot understand simple things in one go. So, the poor people have to repeat everything thousand times to make the “complicated” things slightly understandable. Let us look into the complicated and mysterious emotions going on in Khamoshi.
THE LALCHI FAMILY! Do you guys get it? The family is super greedy but possess commendable financial skills. They are exploiting Arsala. The only thing that matters to them is money and they are multiplying it by some magical committees. In only thirty thousand a month, the guys managed to buy a whole truck of dowry. There is an evil sister in the family who steals her sister’s fiance, uses her money and still keep bad-mouthing her. And yes the Lalchi family doesn’t stop her from doing that. Why? There is no answer to that. But since the makers thought it is not easy for us audiences to understand that the family is greedy, they are repeating it again and again since 11 episodes.
THE GOOD GUY SHAHRAM! The guy is good. He has many philanthropy projects going on but he still comes to meet Bee Jaan (secretly Arsala). He is paying her way through all adversities and will finance her education too. But since he is an acha bacha, he will do everything with Khamoshi. His girl faces everything with Khamoshi and now he will follow her footsteps. One thing is worth mentioning that he does not remain Khamosh in front of Zubiya but Zubiya is too dumb to notice that the guy is practically yelling a big NO to her face. His partner in crime is Bee Jaan who wants to help the achi Arsala and looks like she does not care much about her own grand-daughter.
NAIMA AND ATIF! They are annoying! Do you get it? According to the makers, the viewers are not able to comprehend that this couple is full of themselves. Atif being the super confused character does not want Arsala to marry anyone. And from the preview of the next episode, it seems like he will be trying to make Arsala uncomfortable in front of a whole crowd on his own mehendi. Because why not? After all, he is super dumb!
But again, the makers think that viewers are not able to understand all this in 10 episodes, so they made another one to make them understand. I hope I am getting this right because there is no other reason to continue the same things.
P.S: Who did Zubiya’s wardrobe? The girl needs serious help. No wonders Shahram is not noticing her. Her mother is always more made up as compared to her.
Khamoshi has a really good story but the makers have given extra screen time to unwanted tracks a lot. Arsala is still being a bechari, which she was born to be one. Her only goal in life is to remain “Khamosh” as much as possible and listen to people saying bad stuff about her, be it Atif or Naima or even her own parents. Now she is in total gratification towards Bee Jaan since she gave five lakh rupees for Naima’s marriage to her own ex-fiance. But the writer has stuck to the point that people always end up falling for Arsala’s good behaviour since Zubia is also being a friend towards her. But Zubia’s mom is just out of this world. Since her entry, she is always going out somewhere and she doesn’t have a job. I really want to know how much shopping and socializing the lady can do.
Shahram is an old-school boy and despite all his good qualities and philanthropy projects, we have to admit that he does not know how to impress a girl he likes. He is supporting her financially, talking to Bee Jee about her plight and was even daydreaming about the girl. But still, the skills are lacking. Bee Jee is now suspicious though that Shahram likes Arsala. And from the way he is supporting her, Arsala will not know that Shahram has fallen for her until the last episode. The Khamosh larkihas found her Khamosh larka finally.
Arsala’s family is just simply insane. I don’t think that in lower-middle-class households in Pakistan, it is allowed for young unmarried girls to shout “mujhe nafrat hai Arsala se” about the sole breadwinner of the house. Moreover, she is defaming her and saying bad things about her character and in place of punching her face, the parents are doubting Arsala. She will now take one lakh for salami too. Atif-the confused is now back to not-hating and only disliking Arsala. He is still mourning over the sister of his future wife. Such a loser!
One thing is for sure, this is Iqra Aziz’s best performance to date since one really starts hating Naima as soon as she comes on the screen which means she has translated the character perfectly on screen.
The drama is running slow and it would have been a much more exciting one if they progress the story forward. Let’s see how Shahram and Arsala’s track progresses since Zubia ki Ammi is not going to happy with her nephew!
Khamoshi’s first episode aired last night and the start was pretty decent. More than half of the main characters were introduced in this episode. The story revolves around the life and family of Arsala played by Zara Noor Abbas. She is a very responsible girl and wants to help with the poor financial condition of her family. She works at home as a tailor and helps her family meet ends. The other main and probably evil character is Naeema (Iqra Aziz) who is Arsala’s sister and she is irresponsible and shallow. All she wants in her life is to style herself and get people notice her. She even dances in the rain like old film heroines. Both girls have a brother who is still a student and is also whinny about the family’s condition and not having enough money for his new shirt or farewell party. The other evil probably and frustrated surely character is that of Sabir played by Tauqeer Nasir who is the father and is always busy belittling his family that how much he works hard and they don’t do anything to help him. He is greedy to an extreme extent and is always busy eyeing how other people’s daughters are helping them; not considering or acknowledging Arsala’s hard work.
The other family is of Arsala’s khala and Atif aka Affan Waheed is the cousin Arsala is interested in and was betrothed to since childhood. Atif is also dying to marry Arsala while as you all have expected Naeema is interested in Atif too. Atif on the other hand bully her and treats her like Arsala’s little sister and a little cousin though she is not little at all. The way Arsala keeps saying bacchi hai on her tantrums is extremely annoying and Naeema will soon show her how grown up she is. Sabir hates Atif because he is jobless and still wants to marry Arsala and Sabir is sure he wants her for her money. Arsala is too naive and bechari to even say what she thinks and Naeema on the other hand has the audacity to play a self proclaimed bahu to her khala in her home and ask Atif to talk about her instead of Arsala and people; this family still thinks ke woh bacchi hai! The way Sabir acted on seeing Atif holding his daughter’s hand was shown as something very wrong though I think that was the only right thing the character did in the whole episode since they are not even officially engaged.
Zara and Affan did a good job and Iqra was over acting a bit specially the expressions with her eyes were too stressed upon. Tauqeer Nasir knows his craft and made me hate him from the very start. All and all the drama looks nice and from the first episode it looks like a mixture of Thakkan and Maat. Other characters have not been introduced yet but director did a great job by introducing the theme and basic characters in one episode since everyone hates dragging. Khamoshi looks promising and will show a side of society we come in contact with each day where family’s leave their girls as maids due to financial issues and this drama may help show us the emotional turmoil those girls go through. Lets see how the story folds up next.
How did you people find the first episode? Share in comments and yes I loved the OST!
Khalilur Rehman Qamar is enjoying the great success of his drama Pyare Afzal. The drama has provided rebirth to his career. Recently Khalil expressed his thoughts in an interview.
As per Khalil he is from a Punjabi family where no-one speaks Urdu. He was taunted in the industry for being an “Urdu medium” writer. He worked really hard to improve his English. His dramas are for those who wants to think and learn something from his writings.KRQ thinks, the ladies in our society have to be more mature. Even the mature ladies are more impressed by artificial things. KRQ thinks that the day our ladies will stand and question the legality of earning of their brother, husband, our society will be in much better shape.
Drama writer Khalilur Rehman Qamar has been a household name after the overwhelming success of drama Pyare Afzal. KRQ is writing dramas and films since 1996 (as far i remember). Being based in Lahore all of his dramas were also produced in this city until 2012-13 when his drama Manjali produced in Karachi was aired on Geo TV. Manjali received mixed reviews but his writing style impressed the drama producers of Karachi. Later more dramas produced in Karachi are aired i.e. Pyare Afzal (ARY Digital) and Bunty I Love You (HUM TV). Pyare Afzal was widely viewed and provided nation wide recognition to KRQ again. Yes again, because KRQ was very famous in 1998-99 when his drama Boota From Toba Tek Singh was very successful.
KRQ is recently interviewed by Voice of America (VOA) Urdu, and its complete content is also posted here. The content is in Traditional Urdu script. The full interview can also be listened below.
Pakistani drama industry is finally bringing some fascinating dramas these days. Meray Pass Tum Ho, Alif, Ehd-e-Wafa are the most-watched dramas. People wait for the whole week to watch the next episode and talk about it for the rest of the day.
Meray Pass Tum Ho became popular on the international level. Everyone loved the storyline, dialogue, and tremendous acting by Ayeza, Humayun, and Adnan Siddiqui. There were many who criticized or trolled the ending of the drama, while others appreciated it.
The writer of Meray Pass Tum Ho, Khalil-ur-Rehman, was invited as a guest to Waseem Badami’s show Har Lamha Purjoosh. He was asked many questions related to his personal and professional life. Waseem Badami asked him a lot about his hit drama, Meray Pass Tum Ho.
Waseem asked him about his opinion about Alif, to which he replied, ”WONDERFUL.” The drama unfortunately released with Meray Pass Tum Ho. If he knew Alif was going to be released, he would have changed the releasing dates of Meray Pass Tum Ho.

At first Pakistani dramas were targeting our culture and family system but now they have leaped beyond and messing with limits that ALLAH ALMIGHTY has set for humans. btw dramas are supposed to educate people not to disarray them. #JudaHuayKuchIsTarah#HUMTV
I remember when Pyaray Afzal went on-air, it was my first experience of listening to those dialogues which remain with you for a long period of time. The depth they had was something I wasn’t used to. The dramas I grew up watching had prime focus on their storylines and writers hardly used to bother about conveying thought provoking dialogues and most importantly philosophies. Then I came to know about the writer’s name and he built a great credibility in my mind. I used to wait for his dramas and they were always a must-watch for me! He is unique in his own way. We immediately guess the writer’s name by just listening to one or two dialogues. Whenever someone says words like ‘Kambakht’, ‘Kameena’, ‘Chalo Chalo’ or someone quotes another by saying ‘Wo keh raha/rahi hai’ instead of taking his or her name, you won’t even find the need to know who the writer is. I would like to discuss a few aspects of his writing some of which are my favorite and some are not.
Dialogues:
I without even any reasoning consider him the best when it comes to deep conversations. He no doubt knows how to stir depth in normal everyday conversations. From ‘Pyaray Afzal’ days I have been a fan of his dialogues in particular.
‘Pyaray Afzal’ having all the ingredients of philosophy in right proportion grabbed not only my attention but of a massive audience as well. I would like to share some gems as well,
‘Jaan se pyara tha wo, lekin jaan pyari nahin thi use’
‘Paida karne wali bnane wale se baat kar rahi hai, use pata hoga kay kese baat karni hai’
‘Bachpan se ek khuwab dekha tha, khuwab poora nahin hua to sharam kay mare ye bhi nai btaya kay dekha kya tha’
‘To Beta qismat aazmao, humen na azmao’
‘Sadqay Tumhare’ also had a lot of memorable dialogues, if my memory isn’t deceiving me Khalil once said to his Doctor friend,
‘Main use hath kese laga sakta tha? Main us waqt wuzu main nahin tha’
A very famous one of Shano:
‘Mohabbat main Ilhaam naa ho to fitay moo mohabbat ka’
Though I didn’t follow ‘Zara Yaad Kar’ regularly, I came across one such dialogue from Saba Faisal,
‘Tumhare Abba kaha karte the, Mohabbat ki ek se zyada daleel nahin hoti aur Bewafaai kay so se kam bahany nahin hoty, pehly lgta tha smjha rahe hyn, ab pata chala kay bata rahy the kay samjha dena’
It will be complete injustice not to admire his grip over conveying thoughts in such a beautiful manner. This is the thing that still makes me look forward to his new projects despite the slow pace his dramas usually have.
The Main Leads:
However, when it comes to the main leads, I am left scratching my head always. There’s a special kind of issue with most of KRQ’s heroines. I don’t understand whether they suffer from some sought of psychological disorder or Alzheimer’s disease. They have serious memory issues, like you’ll see them offering ‘nawafil’ for the hero one second and the next second they’ll be shown as someone who won’t even care if he dies. They will be shown completely engrossed in the thoughts of male leads. Their world revolves around them. Their every conversation starts with them and ends on them. I remember I never watched Farah doing anything else except discussing how worried Afzal’s parents must be and what would he be doing in Karachi? Her one after another visit to his home wo bhibahane bahane se. She would get jealous whenever someone showed interest in Afzal be it Lubna or Yasmin. Cutting it short, she would be showing all signs of love but will never admit it and when she does, it’s of no use because he is no more. I can’t understand the logic behind showing her arrogant to the core like she can’t simply admit the fact that she fell in love with someone less than her in status or maybe in education.
I just want the characters to have normal thinking process. They should be clear in their thoughts. How much time it takes to listen to your heart? Contrary to this, ‘Yeh Raha Dil’ has Hayaat who knows ‘What she wants and what she doesn’t’. What a person she is! I think my words won’t do justice to the role she is assigned and how brilliantly the character is written. If one asks me if not Farah how should a heroine be like? My answer will be none other than ‘Hayaat’. I won’t prefer someone who takes 30+ episodes to realize what she wants from her life. Who can’t even figure out how the love of her should be. In a country like ours where one takes a second to fall in love with someone, we have Farah who’ll die discussing Afzal with everyone around her but won’t discuss the fact that why is she discussing him in the first place if she is that much uninterested in him?
‘Maheen Aurangzeb’ in MTSNH is the uglier version of ‘Farah Ibrahim’, showing extreme hate for hero without any reason, I know he once slapped her but was that such a big deal that an entire drama will be dedicated to the hate based on that slap? You simply ignore the person you don’t like but here the case is opposite. It looks like she is trying to draw everyone’s attention towards them or she wants everyone to discuss all the time that ‘O look how much Maheen hates Waqar?’ You should be able to convey your hate in a dignified manner.
Now coming to Haadi of ‘Zara Yaad Kar’, he was his own example and Mahnoor was busy giving a tough competition to him in all departments of insanity. One who knew nothing except how to exploit and the other knew nothing except how to get exploited. They both were the mirror images of each other and I just couldn’t relate to them. Everyone was a philosopher in that drama. Limit was the word unknown to them. Why his characters take so long to realize a basic thing, which could be sensed even by a child? Farah couldn’t realize the love, Haadi couldn’t realize how he was exploited at Mahnoor’s hands and Mahnoor couldn’t realize how mean she was! These all things can be realized within a second by a normal sane person, don’t know how slow their realization hormones work. They take a whole drama to hit the right place in the brain. Uff!
The contradiction in their words is very much there too. In ‘Sadqay Tumare’ Khalil said to Shano’s father that he can do anything but run away with Shano. Later he did the same which he refused to do at first. I think one should remain steady no matter how the situation unfolds.
The Side Characters:
Second thing that bothers me the most, the world of the female lead revolves around the hero though she won’t admit it because shokhabhitohonahai, and the world of the entire cast revolves around their love-story. It feels like everyone is trying too hard to push her towards the hero as if deep down they all know how she is dying inside for him. The world knows about their love for each other except the people who are supposed to be in love. Matlab what? All of their efforts are for the love birds and they least bother about their own life. It looks forced like everybody is paid to promote them and talk about them. The way they say ‘Wokehtihai’ ‘Uskakehnahai’ is irritating to the core. I know it’s his writing style and it’s completely fine to come up with a unique one but I don’t know why it annoys me. I think he should show a chotimoti love story of the side characters as well just to keep them busy somewhere. Otherwise they look like paid actors who are hired to give a fake protocol to the leads just to keep the interest of viewers alive in them. Mohabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai is the latest example of how ‘farigh’ the supporting cast is. They have nothing to do except gossiping about the leads. I started watching MTSNH and it couldn’t keep my interest alive. In Pyaray Afzal every supporting actor was busy discussing the interest level of Farah and all their efforts were dedicated to them. I just have one advice for all of them ‘Find a job please!’.
Pace of The Story:
Now coming to the pace of the stories, everybody knows that his stories most of the times move at a snail’s pace but I don’t mind it either. I am a patient viewer as long as it has something thought provoking and enjoyable to offer. I enjoy his deep dialogues as well like I mentioned above but the viewers who are unlike me find it hard to be patient throughout the drama. It’s not irritating for me at least because I enjoyed ‘Pyaray Afzal’ because of the dialogues and acting. No doubt it had a slow pace and had few developments per episode but that still held my attention. Not sure about the remaining audience. But speaking in general, as the story progresses, audience wants serious developments in the story department and in the characters as well. Farah’s realization about her love for Afzal took 30+ episodes and at the end all of a sudden, she got realized ‘Oh I used to love him from the very beginning’. That’s what bothers me. It would be great if she was shown liking him gradually as she discovered some of his hidden and likable personality traits. Throughout the drama we saw her cursing him for no good reason. Just because he sent his parents to her home to ask for her hand, she considered it her duty to curse him whenever she got a chance while we could see deep down he was the center of her universe. The irony!
Forced Situations:
I sometimes find the situations a bit forced. Sadqay Tumhare had a very promising beginning but the sudden love interest of Humaira in Khalil looked so forced. This scenario could be easily skipped. The unnecessary dragging at the end of every drama is annoying and leaves a bad impression after the drama ends. Pyaray Afzal was also the victim of same thing. The last few episodes were fillers and I found myself losing interest in it. Zara Yaad Kar too had forced scenarios and they were great in number. When we are already waiting for the drama to be summed-up, the writer comes up with another forced situation and that’s not pleasing. The drama that takes a great start should be ended with dignity.
So, these were the few likable and few not-so-likable aspects of KRQ’s writings for me. Do share your thoughts please!
The ace writer, Khalil-ur-Rehman has written the scripts of many drama serials. His famous work includes; Toba Tek Singh, Pyaray Afzal, Lal Ishq, and Tum Yahi Kehna. He has won the awards for best original script and best TV writer from HUM TV and Lux style awards respectively.

Hanish is trying to protect her young siblings from all the haters and social media bullies. Hanish’s mother is the ex-wife of Faysal Qureshi, her name is Rozina. She was a famous heroin of Urdu films. Faysal got married to Rozina at the age of 18 for the first time but unfortunately, both parted their ways after 8 years of marriage. In between 8 years the couple was blessed with a daughter, Hanish Qureshi.
Hanish’s mother got married again to Khalil-ur-Rehman and have two kids from this marriage. It means Khalil-ur-Rehman married to ex-wife of Faysal Qureshi. Faysal’s first wife and Qamar married a long time ago and then got separated they have two kids.
