Hamza Ali Abbasi has always been known for his bold stance but this time while hosting the Ramazan transmission on Aaj TV, he discussed some topics which are considered controversial in Pakistan and as a result PEMRA has banned him from hosting Ramazan transmission. At the same time host Shabbir Abu Talib from TVOne has also been barred from hosting the transmission because his speech was provocative.

PEMRA reported that it had received as many as 1,133 complaints through Whatsapp, Twitter and telephone calls regarding the transmissions. PEMRA notice also said that during these shows no one was talking about anything productive but most of these shows are running after ratings.

The notice also mentioned that all the TV channels had been warned before hand to refrain from non serious and controversial topics during these transmissions but some people have not been abiding by this rule.

The Pemra notification also said that if Hamza Ali Abbasi, Shabbir Abu Talib and  Maulana Kokab Noorani appear on any channel at all and are seen discussing this particular controversial issue or any other such topic, then that program will also be banned.

All these people have been asked to appear before the Complaints Council Karachi and record their statements on June 20 to give their statements.

Ranked amongst the top grossing movies of Pakistan, Jawani Phir Nahi Ani was a lighthearted comedy which became the highest earning blockbuster film of 2015, breaking box-office records and reaping many coveted accolades. In a recent interview with HSY, the JPNA star Hamza Ali Abbasi opened up about rejecting JPNA 2 and also slammed the rumours which stated that he left the film due to an ongoing rift between him and Humayun Saeed.

We reported few days back that the friendship between Hamza Ali Abbasi and Saba Qamar was going through a difficult time because Saba had done an item number and Hamza was giving some very definite statements against item numbers in films. Hamza Ali Abbasi said generally that a good film does not require an item number. He also said that although there is a lot of pressure on him to add an item number in his film but he is not going to do it.

Saba Qamar took this statement in a wrong way and thought that Hamza was targeting her. Well, the interviewer asked if he had to change his name, which could be the most epic name for him. Hamza laughed and said that his friends used to call him F-16 when they were young. So, he would name himself after a fighter jet or something. 

At the last, Hamza was asked about the releasing dates of Maula Jatt, whether it is going to release in 2020, 2021, or someday. He started laughing and said that hopefully, it’s going to release this 2020 Eid, but the director Bilal Lashari knows the exact date.

Hamza Ali Abbasi has given his open opinions about many controversial topics in the past. He is always blunt and straightforward in expressing his likes and dislikes and it has cost him some meaty roles as well as some media friends. However, this does not deter the handsome man from being about vocal about all things he feels need to be brought to public notice.

Some people, however, found it offensive and reacted in negative to his post. Most derogatory comments meant to remind him of Jawani Phir Nahi Ani and that this is hypocrisy on his part to denounce item songs now. Some called it disloyalty to the industry that feeds him. Most people however agreed with him and his take that we should consider our religious and moral values before objectifying women by making them dance seductively on item numbers while an on screen and off screen crowd ogle these skimpily dressed dancers. This is neither our culture, nor does it sync with the modern trend of women empowerment.
