Hiba Bukhari and Arez Ahmed were guests at a friend’s wedding yesterday and they both looked out of this world gorgeous. Hiba Bukhari was seen clad in a beautiful ivory embellished saari with mauve toned makeup and her hair in a iddle part sleek open style. Arez Ahmed also looked dapper in his tuxedo and complemented his beautiful wife completely. Hiba abd Arez are definitely a couple to watch out for. Sadia Imam has been a big part of the drama industry and she has done a lot in her career. After working in drama quite successfully, the actress took sort of a sabbatical from woring in dramas and got married. We still see her hosting live morning shows and as a guest talking about her personal experiences in various shows specially in Good Morning Pakistan. Sadia Imam is mom to beautiful Meerub and she often shares pictures with her beautiful family.
It was Sadia Imam’s only daughter Meerub’s eight year old daughter and she celebrated her birthday with a grand party. Sadia’s celebrity family friends Nadia Khan and Nida Yasir were also spotted attending the birthday with their kids. Little Meerub looked like a princess while her guests all looked great decked up in their best finery. Sanam Saeed is a multitalented artist. She is a singer, a model, an accomplished VJ, a super talented theatre atist and one of the most loved film and drama actresses of Pakistan. Sanam Saeed is known for doing substantial roles and not backing down on characters that she takes up. Sanam is known for her work and always keeps her personal life private and out of the limelight.
Sanam Saeed never shares what is going on in her personal life. Recently the news of her marriage with co-star Mohib Mirza was all over the internet but she chose not to put out any statement. Sanam has said that she wants people to know only what could be helpful for them like she shared her mother’s illness and her divorce but who is marrying whom or who is breaking up with whom is not important for people to know and is only fodder for gossip.
In a recent podcast interview with Frieha Altaf, Sanam shared that she once wanted to have kids when asked about her desire to have children. She added that now she is not really up for it and would like to adopt which is more noble.
This second episode of Sar-e-Rah was just as engaging, empowering, fast-paced, and visually pleasing as the first one. The writer managed to get his message across with the utmost ease and precision throughout this episode. I must say that even though I knew that the writer was going to tell other people’s stories through Rania, the focus on Muzna’s (Sunita Marshall) story was the surprise element for me. I was expecting Rania’s story to stay central but it seems as if we will be watching her story from her professional life’s perspective and not the personal one. I must say that I missed watching Rania’s interactions with her family but I do understand why the writer thought it was more important to shift the focus to Muzna. It is the only way that he can tell different stories in a single episode.
Breaking Free
This episode opened with Rania and Muzna’s first interaction. Rania went from judging Muzna to trusting her and liking her as the story progressed. By the end of this episode Muzna and Rania were not just friends but also partners in a way. I loved how quickly Rania changed her opinion about this woman she barely knew but was open-minded enough to give her the benefit of doubt. Even though this was Muzna’s story for me Rania’s character stood out in this episode as well. It is such a well-etched-out character; she isn’t overly bold, not ‘too’ kind but considerate enough, and most importantly she comes across as a positive person who does not believe in stereotypes at all. Saba Qamar nailed this character yet again in this episode and her on-screen chemistry with Sunita Marshall made their interactions even more wholesome. Sunita Marshall is an exceptional performer who adds grace to every character she plays therefore she was the perfect choice for playing this role. It was however not too pleasant watching Mikaal Zulfiqar play yet another character that he has played so many times before. He has been playing the toxic husband who always fails to make his marriages work for the longest time!
Through Muzna’s story, the writer highlighted an issue that is not the subject matter of Pakistani dramas often; everyone wants a doctor bahu but most people expect these bahus to leave their profession and use their knowledge only for the benefit of the family they are married into! The family which chooses to marry their son to this doctor bahu because of her degree and education dictates to her as if she has no wisdom or mind of her own. Also, the writer showed how flawed the concept is that qualified people should only work if they needed money. Muzna’s character was that of an educated, polished, and intelligent young woman who forgets what she is capable of because of the way she is treated by her mother-in-law in particular. Apart from that, her husband lets her bear the brunt instead of telling his mother the truth. This was such a good way of showing how toxicity and mental abuse is accepted as a norm by many women such as Muzna who can easily step out and build a life of their own. It also went to show the kind of exploitation such women are subjected to by the so-called ‘khandani’ families they are married into. Even though the husband was clearly the one at fault, he had an ‘ally’ in his mother and I could totally see him getting married a second time just to prove that there was nothing wrong with him.
Through this story, the writer also showed how adoption is looked down upon in our society. The episode as a whole also showed the judgmental attitude of society and how most often even women such as Muzna are forced to do something they don’t want to because of the pressures. Even though Muzna did not want to give that baby away, she did try to do it. Later on, she took a decision she could have taken earlier but was not in the right mental state to do so. The scene at the mall in which that auntie tells Muzna off truly resonated with me! It is so true that most of us are constantly judging others and expecting their actions to match our own perceptions, thoughts, and experiences.
I really liked the scene in which Muzna leaves the baby with Rania when she goes to get milk for her. Rania doubts Muzna, and wonders if she was going to get into trouble for helping her but still continues believing in her. This showed that Rania was not ‘perfect’, she was completely capable of doubting someone as well but she did not instantly pass judgment or make a decision. If Rania did not decide to help Muzna, things could have been so different for her.
Final Remarks
There were some aspects of this episode that made me question Muzna’s decision in the beginning. Why couldn’t she talk to her husband about this beforehand? Can a married woman legally adopt without the consent of her spouse? If she had decided to adopt this baby, why was she not more ‘prepared’ for it. I think that these are some of the angles in this particular track that needed a little more explanation. However, the way this track was used to raise so many big and small issues was definitely on point. Rania’s reactions throughout this episode revealed more about her personality and character. It is always refreshing watching a drama showing women supporting each other. Rania continues to be the star of the show; Saba Qamar owns this character and she clearly enjoyed performing it. Tonight’s episode of Sar-e-Rah belonged to all those doctor bahus who have so much to offer yet they somehow forget their own potential.
This was another empowering story shown brilliantly on-screen. The concept and the execution have been brilliant. I am looking forward to the next story. The outdoor scenes had to be the best aspect of the execution. Unlike many other dramas, you don’t feel ‘suffocated’ while watching Sar-e-Rah because the director has dared to use a large canvas as opposed to limiting himself. I am so glad that Sar-e-Rah is getting the attention it deserves because the first episode did not take off immediately but this one already has an impressive number of views. Also, I am wondering why this drama is airing at 9 pm because it definitely deserves the primetime slot. Am I the only one who missed Rania’s interactions with her family in this episode? Zia Mohyeddin is a legend who is loved and appreciated by Pakistanis of all generations for his eye for great talent as well as poetry and prose recitation. From radio till social media, his voice has been echoing in the years of Pakistanis. Born in 1931, Zia Mohyeddin has been a pat of Pakistani films and television as well as British films and television. He is actually the first Pakistani artist ever to work in Hollywood.
Zia Mohyeddin is also a mentor to many of our talented artists today as he is the President of National Academy of Performing Arts NAPA in Karachi. He performed to the tee himself and also created a great platform so new talent and faces keep coming on the horizon.
He has unfortunately passed away today in Karachi. He was unwell and was on life support at a hospital. He passed away today at 6.30 a.m. according to the family sources. He was 91.
Zia Mohyeddin is also the recipient of Hilal e Imtiaz for his contribution to the field of arts. His passing away has left a whole too big to be filled in Pakistani entertainment and field of performing arts.
Hira Soomro is a very talented artist and we have always seen her doing every character she takes on to perfection, be it in Chupke Chupke, Khuda Aur Mohabbat or the recently running and mega successful Tere Bin. She has worked with many big stars in the industry including Bushra Ansari, Asma Abbas, Yumna Zaidi, Ayeza Khan among others.
Hira Soomro worked in Khuda Aur Mohabbat 3 with Feroze Khan. She shared her experience working with him and said that he was super cooperative and nice while working. Feroze was very protective of her and would wait with her if her driver was late. She said that she has been sharing her great experience working with Feroze Khan as she has been asked lately.

Hira is now playing Wahaj Ali’s sister in Tere Bin and the actress shared how pleasant it has been working with him. She shared that Wahaj is a total foodie and he is a very pleasant person to be around.
Hira also added that all her co-stars have been very punctual in TEre Bin and care more about work than about their looks. This is how her experience has been working with Wahaj Ali.
Sabeena Farooq is a gorgeous Pakistani television artist who rose to fame as Maina from Suno Chanda. The actor also performed in the drama serial Kashaf. Currently, her show Tere Bin for Geo Television is getting popular in the masses. Her character Haya is quite charged up and is providing a lot of memes. Fans are liking the character.
Recently, She appeared in The Haute Talk with Hassan Choudary in which she talked about her hilarious dance performance. Talking about it she said that if any film producer has seen her dancing, he /she would not cast her. She further said, “That dance sequence was too hilarious that producers won’t cast me, I have that video in which I danced, it was a dance on another number, the OST of the drama came late, so, I think it didn’t match with the song, Yes, steps were okay but if they would post it in same motion but they slowed it down. She also revealed that the whole cast used to laugh on Haya’s hilarious dialogues. Sabeena Farooq said that the success of Haya is amazing, it has become a meme worthy material which is good, she further said that she was aware that Tere bin will be a success, she says, “I knew that it was going to be big because I was foreseeing Meerub & Murtasim’s chemistry, however, Yumna and Wahaj were skeptical about the over the top sequences but I said to them that it will be big. She also talked about her different portrayal of negative character Haya in Tere Bin. She said that director worked a lot on her and that is why it became a huge buzz and people are talking about it. She further said that she was told to keep Haya vampish.
She revealed that she has a great experience working with the cast, she said she enjoyed working with Yumna, Bushra Ansari, Sohail Sameer and others. She further said that Haya’s character is up to a lot of disastrous things.
She further said that the character Haya is genuinely in love with Murtasim that’s why she’s so passionate for him. She also revealed that she refused to do the scene in Tere bin in which she puts slippers in Wahaj’s feet but later on she was convinced to do that, which turned out to be good.
