In the midst of shows that have nothing new to offer, B.I.L.U is a breath of fresh air. Dania is not like the typical gold diggers who wait for their old husbands to die so that they can inherit their wealth. Dania always had a lot of respect for Patel, and I love the flashbacks she has of him. He has given her some really important advice in the past which he has gained from experience, and Dania sometimes cannot help but wonder how true they are.
She was surprised to get a letter from him which he wanted her to read after he dies. It was a very emotional letter which showed how much he cared for her, and also revealed some interesting information. We finally know who Abdul Samad is now. Patel had employed him to keep an eye on Dania, but Dania had never tried to cheat her husband even once, and this is something that always surprised Patel.
He might have bought her against her will, but in reality he saved her from greedy people like Aamir with whom she would never have been happy. All her dreams and hopes shattered the day she got to know Aamir’s real face. She is not naïve anymore; she has matured a lot after Patel’s death, and has started to recognize the real faces of people around her.
I loved the part where she made Aamir know his true place, and tortured him for a bit. He was under the misconception that she would welcome him with open arms, and he can get an access to her wealth. He definitely deserved every bit of the treatment he got from Dania, and it just made Dania immensely satisfied to reveal that she knows his real face, and he has simply no importance in her life. I wish she had given him a slap or two along with the shoe (that was one hilarious scene!)
For Dania, Bunty is a refreshing change in her life. His naivety and innocence somewhat reminds her of herself when she was of his age. She feels young and happy around him, and even when she was so disturbed by Aamir’s betrayal, his simple phone call cheered her up very quickly. Ohkay, I was really not expecting him to be a thief, that was a huge surprise. And the way he innocently told her everything just made me laugh! He is caught up in a situation where he has to steal for a living, not that he minds it because that is all that he knows. Dania could relate with his situation and paid money to his heart less father to free him, and give him a better life. His father was more than willing to get Bunty off his hand, just like Dania’s parents had been.
Dania may be shown as a proud woman, but inside she is broken and hurt. She had been betrayed by her own family who sold her to Patel, and sometimes she could not help but voice out how unfair it was to her. Patel might be the main cause of her cruel fate, but he always was there to console her.
Bunty just cannot believe his luck and is enjoying his new life a lot. First the room, then the food and finally the clothes; all was just too overwhelming for him. The way he was enjoying himself was a treat to watch! It shows how innocent he is! Dania wants all his dreams to come true because hers never did. She sees herself in him, and wants to provide him with the best life possible.
Bunty will help to bring back Dania’s youth which she had spent with a man more than thrice her age. It will be interesting to see how Bunty’s presence changes Dania!
This drama is a roller coaster ride through and through. It has so much depth to it that sometimes I have to re-watch the scenes to understand its implication. Dania is clearly obsessed with Bunty and she gets insecure at the slightest things when it comes to him. She has found how it is to feel young and in love all over again because of him. She wants all his attention and time, and in return she wants to shower him with material things that Bunty had never even dreamed of.
But Dania has forgotten that she has never been lucky when it comes to love. She knew that Bunty was involved with some girl but chose to ignore it for a while. She was upset with Bunty when he went out on his own to Jedi’s house, and she did not know how to explain her own reaction. She chose to avoid him for a while to hide her feelings; she does not want Bunty to know the extent of her feelings for him. Ironically, Bunty is too innocent to understand anything; he had no idea as to why she was upset with him over such a small issue.
Dania changed her decision to avoid him when her servant made her understand that Bunty does not even understand why she was upset with him in the first place, and she was back to normal. She probed him again and again to tell her about the girl in his life but he chose to lie to her every time as he feared that she would not like it if he tells her about Mehwish.
She is trying to gain Bunty’s attention through her money and he once again got his wish fulfilled as soon as it comes out of his mouth. Bunty had always dreamed of a heavy bike and Dania gifted him one. Dania felt happy and alive when she rode on the bike with him. She thought that this would distract him and get his attention away from the girl in his life, and he might start liking her too, but her plan clearly did not work.
The stubborn, rude and egoistic Mehwish is just not the right girl for Bunty who is innocent and madly in love with her since years. She only thought about him after Dania changed his appearance and status, before that she was not the least interested in him. He was heartbroken when she refused to accept his ring, but she soon realized her mistake and accepted his love. Bunty was on the top of the world when Mehwish finally accepted his love. Mehwish is not too happy about Dania being in Bunty’s life though, and this is one of the main reasons why they fight all the time.
Dania was clearly heart broken when she overheard Bunty talking to Mehwish on the phone and caught him red handed. She chose to remain cold and aloof with him for a while till he explained that he was scared to tell her the truth and apologized. Dania was almost on the verge of breakdown but she somehow composed herself. Saba Qamar was absolutely superb in this scene! The scene where she looks at her frame and tells Bunty that it has been years since she really laughed showed how lonely Dania feels.
Woh Usse Lekar Ajaye Ga Aur Tum Dekhti Reh Jao Gi
Mein To Hamesha Dekhti Reh Jati Hoon
The sadness in her eyes when she spoke these words showed her longing and desperation for love. She acted normally in front of Bunty as she did not want him to know the real reason why she was upset. She invited Mehwish to the house and made the best arrangements for her. She even went to Mehwish’s house when she refused to come to meet her. She wanted to see who Bunty loved and she wanted to test her. She only wanted the best for Bunty and she wanted to make sure that Mehwish’s love was true. From the looks of it, Mehwish failed the test because she would accept Bunty as long as he was rich; she had no interest in Bunty if he returned to his old life.
This show is exceeding my expectations week after week. We got more insight into Bunty’s old life in this episode, and we also know now that Dania is clearly infatuated with Bunty. She feels as if her teenage days are back when she is with him and she is in love with this feeling of being young again. She wants to give Bunty all the luxuries in life and in return she wants his company and his attention.
The surprising part was that Dania was trying to buy Bunty’s affection. This has already been tried on her by Patel and he had failed. What is the point of trying it again when it is bound to fail? Bunty is shown as an innocent boy who is in awe of Dania and the luxuries that she had bestowed on him, and like any boy of his age he wants to show off his new status to his friends. He had thought of Dania as his employer, but she had made him his friend. She wants to share her lifestyle with him, and she gave him the first glimpse of it when she took him to the party.
Dania was extremely excited to take Bunty to the party and introduce him to her friends. Bunty was not at ease with the environment and uncomfortable dancing with Dania at first, but he adjusted after a while. Now that Bunty is a part of her life, she refuses to share him with anyone and it totally spoiled her mood when he was constantly being called by someone. Her mood became worse when she got to know that it is a girl. Bunty told her truthfully that she was his friend Jedi’s sister who always degraded him; though he omitted the fact that he likes her, but unfortunately the feeling is not mutual.
He tried his best to make Mehwish jealous by giving her details of his new lifestyle, and the party he has been to. He was successful in making her shocked and a bit jealous too. He thought that she will finally take some interest in him now that he matches up to her status. Mehwish thought that he was lying about the whole matter till she saw him in the new car and suit herself when he visited her house. But then she did not want to show that she was impressed and tried her best to ignore him. I truly felt bad for Bunty when he barred his heart in front of Mehwish and gave her the ring and she cruelly rejected him once again by throwing the ring in his face (figuratively of course!)
Bunty is still not aware of Dania’s intention but he knows she is a respectable woman who is just in need of his company for a while. It was obvious with the way he was defending her in front of Jedi that he respects her alot and does not feel that she has any dishonorable intentions.
Dania, on the other hand, is clearly smitten by Bunty. She was furious when she thought that Bunty lied to her about the phone call, but immediately brightened up when he complimented her. She fulfils all his wishes even before he says it. She thinks she owns Bunty and hated the fact that he had went out without informing her. She was restless the whole time as she feared that he had lied to her once again. One scene that was beautifully shot was the one in which she hears Patel’s voice and feels his presence around her. The fear and restlessness was beautifully portrayed by Saba Qamar.
This show is turning out to be extremely interesting. I am waiting to see what happens next!
Nothing about this show attracted me when I saw the promos. I am a fan of Saba Qamar, but her pairing with Noman Habib was a huge blunder in my view since he looked so much younger than her. Even the name of the show was a huge turn off! I had no intentions of watching this show, but one fine day I was just randomly switching channels and ended up watching the show (there was nothing else to watch). And I was seriously taken aback!
The show has such a different story from what we see in dramas nowadays. It is not like the story has not been seen before, but the way it is portrayed in this show is brilliant. Saba Qamar plays the role of Daniya who got married at the age of 17 to a man (Abid Ali) who was more than thrice her age. Not willingly of course, her parents sold her to him for money.
She lived with Patel for 12 years sincerely, but had never really loved him as she was never able to forget her fiancé, Aamir. She was young and beautiful trapped in a golden cage, and coveted company of people of her age. In all these years, she had never stopped dreaming, but she got her chance to pursue her dreams when her husband died suddenly.
It is not like the typical stories where women marry rich men for money and then wait for them to die. She never really cared about his money which was obvious when she got disturbed when he announced that he had written his will. Daniya had not loved Patel, but always respected him. He cared for her a lot, and she never said a bad word for her husband even after he died. But of course, she was glad that she was finally free and could do whatever she wants to with her life. She could finally breathe and feel the world around her. She was 29, and still had a chance to start afresh, and this is exactly what she did.
Daniya is shown as a beautiful woman and well, the beautiful part is a bit over emphasized in my view. In every scene, one person or the other kept telling her how beautiful she is which was getting a bit repetitive and annoying. Like every other woman of her age, she likes the attention of men of her age. She appreciates the compliments and attention, but likes to keep away from all of them.
She got the biggest shock of her life when Patel revealed just a few minutes before his death about the truth of her ex-fiancé. She had loved him all these years, and got to know that he had also sold her to Patel just like her parents. That was certainly a wakeup call for her not to trust any men easily.
After her husband’s death, everyone thought that they had a chance with her now. But Daniya definitely knows how to deal with all the men. Mr. Chauhan’s character just makes me laugh (I loved the part where his wife shows him his place). Azfer Rehman’s character is shown as a complete playboy, but he is definitely not someone Daniya would fall for.
Noman Habib is shown as an innocent, young boy (yes, he is shown younger than Daniya) whom she meets when he has an accident with her car. Now, it will be interesting to see how they will bond. Would a younger boy get involved with an older woman? It will be pretty interesting to watch this!
I was not even sure if i was going to review this show or not, but I really wanted to review something different for a change. I initially thought that the story has to do with extra marital affairs and that is something I would never watch. So far, this show looks promising and thankfully, different.
Saba Qamar as Daniya will spell bound you; Nouman Habib has not impressed me yet. Mahmood Akhtar who plays Mr. Chauhan in the show is also pretty good!
So has anybody caught up with this show yet? Do share your views; I would love to hear them.
Bunty I Love You is an upcoming drama on Hum TV whose cast include Saba Qamar,Abid Ali and Noman Habib. All I can guess from promos is that Saba Qamar is 17 years old girl named as Dania who is engaged to Bunty(Noman Habib) and after Bunty’s death she will get married to Mr. Patel (Abid Ali).
Noman Habib recently appeared in Mai Hoon Shahid Afridi and his performance was not that much appreciated by critics. Saba Qamar can be seen quite often onscreen with different roles; this time she will come up as 17 years old girl. I know, many of us will come up with the thought that Saba is too old to play this role. Even I,myself ,thought the same way; they could have asked Sajal Ali to perform the role but then she would have looked too young with Abid Ali.

Shaan Shahid is hands down the biggest film star in the country. Fans have loved him and he has managed to maintain his stardom in a dwindling film industry. He is loved for his action, the way he speaks and the way he conducts himself in the media. He is making his big cinematic comeback this Eid ul Fitr with the action film Bullah.
Shaan Shahid was the main star in the last dying decade of films. He played leading roles in around 600 films and his colleagues of the time have spoken negatively about him in recent podcasts. Saud Qasmi and Arbaz Khan for example are stars who held Shaan Shahid responsible for the downfall of the film industry. Shaan’s upcoming film Bullah’s director has now spoken about these rumours.
Director Shoaib Khan said that many people warned him not to sign Shaan Shahid as he takes over the whole process. But his experience was far different. If you tell Shaan something about his character and then firmly execute it, he is a dream to work with. He also said that people who have spoken against him were probably insecure themselves as he had a great experience during this film.
Bullah is a new film on the block. The movie stars Shaan Shahid in the lead role and it has marked the comeback of this big name in cinemas. Shaan has ruled Lollywood for three decades now and he has come in cinemas after a short break. The film’s trailer showed how this was one action-packed project and fans wanted to see what it was all about.
Shaan Shahid is Bullah and the film came out on Eid ul Fitr worldwide. It is a Punjabi film and thus it targets a regional audience. The film has made over 6 crores in three days and fans have mixed feelings about the movie. It is getting all kinds of reactions while it is running in cinemas.
Some people ended up liking Bullah and felt that if we keep making more films like this, the industry will flourish. One said, “It was mind blowing and truly delivered on every level.” Another added, “The film has potential.” One said, “The film was overall good and I liked the story.” This is the reaction:
Other people are not happy about the film. They feel cinematography, feeling of the scenes and overall story is way too old. They added that Shaan was acting like proper John Wick and Terminator and not Bullah at all. Here are their reviews:

1980’s is the decade in which the downfall of Urdu cinema started. Apart from Faisal Rehman, Neeli and Ismail Shah, no new notable face is introduced in the Urdu films in this decade. The artists of 1960’s and 1970’s dominated the Urdu films in 1980’s like Nadeem, Shabnum, Babra Sharif, Javed Sheikh, Kavita. Few foreign artists also worked in Urdu films (produced as Co-Production) like Sabeeta Parera from Sri Lanka, Babita from Bangladesh, Sushma Shahi from Nepal and Nazan Sanci from Turkey.
Though Urdu cinema continued its downward trend in the 1990’s; some new faces were also introduced in this decade, which till this day are the face of last days of our now defunct Lahore based film industry. The most notable among these artists are Reema and Shaan, two new faces introduced by director Javed Faazil in his film Bulandi released in 1990.
Bulandi was a smashing hit, the cine goers of that era welcomed the fresh blood injected in the Urdu cinema. Afterwards as a pair Reema and Shaan worked in many Urdu, Punjabi and Double Version (Urdu/Punjabi) films none of which proved successful like Bulandi.

Reema & Shaan in Bulandi
Gradually the working relationship among both Reema and Shaan also strained and their pairing in films also ended. They expressed their differences time and again in the press. Due to the differences both have worked together in very few projects afterwards. However whenever they reunited, it weaved magic on the screen.
In the years to come Reema continued the upward path towards success due to her professionalism. But Shaan suffered due to his unprofessional and irresponsible attitude. By mid 1990’s Shaan was out of the films, while Reema was ruling the screen as a new successful pair with new entrant Babar Ali.
The second era of Shaan in films began with the help of Syed Noor who introduced him as a vilian in the film Ghoongat in 1996 which proved successful. After the successful comeback Shaan worked successfully with many heroines like Resham, Meera and Saima but avoided working with Reema.
After a gap of almost six years, film director Sangeeta and producer Shahzad Rafique persuaded both Reema and Shaan to work together again in 1998. The reunion proved successful like Bulandi in 1990, when their film Nikah also proved successful.

Despite the success of Nikah, Reema and Shaan afterwards worked only in one worth mentioning Urdu film Dil To Pagal Hai
Tu Hai Chand Aur Mein Hun Chand Raat from Dil To Pagal Hai
They also worked in one Punjabi film Laung Da Lashkara in 1999.

Reema favored Shaan by accepting the secondary role in Mujhe Chand Chahiye (opposite Moammer Rana), which was being directed by Shaan. Released in 2000, Shaan played the lead in Mujhe Chand Chahiye with Noor Bukhari and the film proved successful.
In mid 2000’s Reema also ventured into direction with the hit film Koi Tujh Sa Kahan in 2005 starring Reema and Moammar Rana. For her second film Love Mein Gum, Reema offered Shaan the leading role with her, which he initially accepted. Love Mein Gum was expected to weave the same magic of Bulandi and Nikah on the silver screen, as Reema and Shaan were working together after almost ten years.
As per press reports the shooting of the film started abroad in Azerbaijan and Malaysia. But after few shots Shaan backed out of the project due to some differences with Reema. Moammar Rana replaced Shaan and Love Mein Gum eventually released in 2011 proving average at the box office.
With Reema no more acting in the film (she might continue as a director in the future), there are slim chances that Reema and Shaan are paired again in a film.
Apart from films, the other area in both Reema and Shaan have worked together is television commercials (TVC). Their first worked together in a series of TVC for TulsiPaan Masala which surely is still remembered by their fans. They do add the required spark to the project whenever paired together, just witness it from the Tulsi TVC.

After years of gap they both are paired again for another TVC to be aired from May 2017. The brand is Everyday Tea Whitener from Nestle. It is yet to be seen whether this pair revives their well known chemistry on screen or not. But the posters of this upcoming advertisement are surely intriguing and something worth waiting. Titled “Pyar Ho Jata Hai Phir Se” , the still shots of this advertisements definitely have the same chemistry seen in the past in Bulandi, Nikah or Tulsi TVC.
There was a time when every other drama was being shot abroad. It had become a trend which was started by Momina Duraid Production on Hum TV and followed by different production houses which aired their shows on channels like ARY Digital and Geo TV. But now we rarely see shows that are being shot abroad. Are the economical conditions the reason for shows no longer being shot abroad? Well, that’s what I think. Producers are seen cutting down on budget by shooting shows in the local areas. The reason is that the actors and directors have increased their fees; an OST has become a must, and there a thousand other things that increases the cost of a show. Inflation has doubled in the past decade which has also led to the shrinking of the budget.
The list is very long but here are some of the popular shows that had been shot abroad:
Vasl: Vasl is one of the popular dramas of Hum TV that had been shot abroad. It was shot primarily in Panama City, Florida. We got to see some beautiful scenes like the ones on the white sand beaches. It features stars like Ayesha Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, Faisal Rehman, Imran Abbas and Tooba Siddiqui. The story revolves around a woman who goes through several tough stages of life, where different men come in her life, and try to mold her life according to them without paying heed to her wishes.
Manay Na Yeh Dil: Manay Na Yeh Dil is another popular show of Hum TV. It has stars like Ayesha Khan, Faisal Qureshi and Faisal Rehman as the leads. It had a different story which the audiences thoroughly enjoyed. Half of this serial was shot in Australia in eye catching locations. It is a beautiful love story revolving around a couple who meet and get separated and then life makes them confront each other yet again.
Malaal: Another hit show shot in the beautiful city of New York. It was shot during the winters so we did not get to see much other than snow but overall the places where the scenes were shot looked beautiful. We saw a lot of scenes with the subways and central parks. It was directed by Mehreen Jabbar and the cast included Deepti, Faisal Rehman, Imran Abbas, and Sarwat Gillani. The story, direction, screenplay and acting were all brilliant and this show was one of the hits of 2010. The story revolves around a man who leaves the one woman who loves him the most and ends up getting married to a young, immature girl due to family pressures.
Ishq Junoon Deewangi: Ishq Junoon Deewangi was shot in the beautiful city of Cape Town, South Africa. Cape Town is one of the prettiest cities and we got to see some very beautiful locations. It has stars like Humayun Saeed, Umaima Abbasi, Deepti and Adnan Siddiqui. The place where Humayun sees Umaima for the first time was a natural scenic beauty and a treat for the eye. It was another hit story which won the hearts of the viewers. The story revolved around a man whose dream turns into an obsession and makes him completely oblivious to his loving wife and he ends up destroying his marriage.
Qaid e Tanhai: Another beautiful show shot abroad. Its stars celebrities like Faisal Qureshi and Sawera Nadeem as the leads. The story revolves around a man who leaves his family to go abroad and earn and the hardships that he and his wife faces due to the separation. It is written by Umera Ahmad and beautifully directed by Babar Javed.
Main Abdul Qadir Hoon: Mein Abdul Qadir Hoon is a unique story of a boy with a heart of gold whose life goes through many twists and turns because of people around him trying to influence him. It is the story of a journey of self discovery of a man. Few of its episodes were shot in Turkey and I must say all the scenes were beautiful. Turkey is one of the most beautiful places for me. It stars Fahad Mustafa, Amna Sheikh and Alishba Yousuf as the leads. Fahad Mustafa has given one of his best performances in this drama.
Parsa: Another show dramatized abroad. We got to see beautiful outdoor locations in this show especially the lavish houses in which the show was shot in. This show stars Ayesha Khan, Adnan Siddiqui, and Ahsan Khan. It is based on a love story of a Muslim girl and a Christian boy who faces a lot of problems in the future due to their differences in religion.
The Ghost: This show is written by Umera Ahmed. It was shot in the beautiful backdrop of Scotland. I think it was the first time a show was shot in Scotland and all the places shown were just beautiful. The old traditional brick buildings of Scotland were definitely a treat for the eye. It stars Faisal Qureshi, Sania Saeed and Samira Peerzada.
Neeyat: Neeyat is another show shot in the beautiful city of New York. Mehreen Jabbar has directed the show in brilliant locations that leaves you in awe of the scenes. The sky scrapper buildings, time square, central parks and the subways all are beautifully shown in the serial. The cast includes Mahira Khan, Humayun Saeed, Ahsan Khan, and Deepti.
Mata e Jaan: Mata e Jaan was the last serial of Hum TV which was shot abroad. It was shot primarily in New York. The story revolves around a couple Haniya and Ibad who meet while studying in the same university abroad. They fall in love and get married despite Ibad’s family disapproval. I especially loved the beautiful places where Haniya and Ibad visited after their marriage.
I do not mind dramas being shot in our own country as Pakistan itself is very beautiful. But it is always refreshing to see different locations in dramas. I really hope to see more dramas being dramatized abroad as it is always pleasant to watch the scenes enacted in beautiful locations.
