The Holy Month of Ramzan has just started. Muslims around the world celebrate the month with full enthusiasm and respect. In Pakistan, the month of Ramadan is celebrated with zeal and zest. People love to spend time in worship. Mosques are filled with worshipers. Besides this, Ramadan also brings a lot of activities and shows on television which start right after Aftaar and go till Sahoor. The shows comprise of games, interviews and musical stuff.

Special Ramadan transmissions grace television screens and they become part and parcel of Ramadan routine during this month. This year, ministry of affairs raised many questions about the eligibility of Ramadan transmission hosts. The ministry said that only eligible people should be allowed to to do the transmissions, however, like every year, the actors are hosting the Ramadan transmissions for obvious reasons related to TRPs. The actors are popular figures who bring people to the television screens and that’s how the transmissions grab audience.

This year, Faysal Quraishi, Bilal Qureshi, Mohsin Abbas Haider, Javeria Saud, Dua Malik, Uroosa Bilal, Farah Saadia, Rabia Anam and many others will be doing Ramadan transmissions. Zaheen Tahira; one of the most senior and veteran actress passed away today on July 9, 2019. Zaheen Tahira was born in Lukhnow, India in 1949. She started working for Pakistan Television Industry in 1966 and was active till 2019. Zaheen Tahira has been a part of block buster dramas and she was recently seen in ARY Digital’s Baban Khala Ki Betiyan.

On June 23, 2019, it was reported that She suffered from heart attack and she was admitted to Agha Khan Hospital in Karachi. Her family members did say that she was recovering but today, she is no more with us.

Pakistan’s popular actor and comedian Majid Jahangir passed away today at 10:00 am. The news was shared by YouTube channel RP Productions. Majid Jahangir was living in Bahria Town Lahore. According to the sources, his dead body is in the Bahria Town’s Hospital, in Lahore. Also, the news sources say that his children will arrive from Karachi for his last rites.

Majid Jahangir’s attendant and daughter Asia informed about his last time and said that he asked for forgiveness from Allah when he was dying, also, he had the wish to perform Umrah or Hajj, she said, ‘today, Majid Jahangir passed away in morning at 10:00 am”. Javed Kodu was a renowned Pakistani film, stage, and television actor who passed away today after his long battle with multiple fatal diseases. He had been serving the media industry for 47 years and has so far worked in 150 films and dramas including famous stage dramas. His notable dramas and films include Aashiyana, Hero, Pagri Sambhal Jatta, Ainak Wala Jin, Boxer, Desan Da Raja, Jadu Nagri and others. His first acting performance was at Alhamra Arts council at the age of nine.

Senior actor Javed Kodu was bedridden for the last few months. Today, he passed away and left behind a wife, two sons, and a daughter among the mourners. His son Shera also followed his father’s footsteps and is reportedly part of team Mazaqraat.

Fans, social media users and art lovers are mourning the loss of a legendary artist who entertained the fans through his thrilling performances for years. They live in constant fear now because they know they can be harassed, killed, looted, or kidnapped at any moment, with the criminals easily getting away with their crimes. Harassment has always been a very common issue in the country, but now, cases of rape and killings are also on the rise. It has become a normal phenomenon for the culprits to escape justice by paying a high amount of in the court.

A few days ago, a girl in an Abaya/Hijab was harassed by a man on a motorbike, and his terrible act was also witnessed by his child. Soon after that, a 5-year-old girl was raped at Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore. A young couple was also harassed in a crowd in Pakistan. The most heinous incident, however, was the killing of five people when a woman named Natasha rammed her car into five people while she was drunk.

All in all, nearly every field of art has acknowledged the power of women. However, the one thing we didn’t hear of was a female superhero. In this time and age where women are taking the forefront in International media we need one and here comes the good news, Pakistan is going to have its own female superhero comic book!

The name of the comic superhero is PakistanGirl . PakistanGirl lives double lives; as Sarah and PakistanGirl. Sarah is  a young girl who loves to read, has a pet cat and hangs out with friends while PakistanGirl, her secret identity, is a strong woman with superpowers who uses them to help people.

PakistanGirl is the creation of Hassan Siddiqui, a graphic designer and art director from Islamabad, Pakistan. The comic book is due to be launched on 20th August, 2017 and we hope this project to be a success!

“Team Muhafiz” is an upcoming animated series, produced by ISPR and Geo Productions in association with AZ Corp. The story of Team Muhafiz revolves around normal human beings with no superpowers and animated thriller. The story will highlight the social issues, particularly the good and bad things in our society. The topics highlighted by “Team Myhafiz” are extortion, street crime, drug abuse, human trafficking, timber mafia, child labour and a lot more.

“Team Muhafiz” was a popular comic series which is now adapted into a TV venture by GEO and ISPR. The series features eight main characters with whom our young generation can relate and gain inspiration. Each and every character belongs to a different background, yet they’ll live together with love and respect towards each other. The voice-over artists behind these characters are the leading actors of Pakistan, which includes Wahaj Ali, Sajal Aly, Dananeer, Ahsan Khan, Syed Shafaat Ali, Adeel Khan, Nimra Rafiq and Nayyar Ejaz.

Senior PPP leader and former senator Rehman Malik passed away on Wednesday in Islamabad due to coronavirus-related complications, his spokesperson Riaz Ali Turi confirmed. Rehman Malik was 70 at the time of passing in Islamabad.

Earlier this month, Malik was put on a ventilator after his health deteriorated due to Covid-related complications. Rehman Malik had tested positive for the coronavirus in January. At that time, his spokesperson said the former senator had initially been shifted to the intensive care unit of a private hospital in Islamabad after his condition deteriorated. However, his condition had continued to worsen and doctors subsequently put him on a ventilator on February 1.

The spokesperson said the virus had affected Malik’s lungs and the former senator had been complaining of breathing problems after contracting Covid. Talking to the media, Malik’s nephew Waqas Malik said the former senator’s funeral prayers would be held at the mosque in Islamabad’s H-8 sector at 2:30pm tomorrow. Professor Ahmed Bilal is planning to make a movie under the label of “Beneath the Sea”. The script is inspired from a famous write of an Egyptian writer and Amjad Islam Amjad has dramatized it in Urdu which again is translated in English. The cast of the film includes Lee Sunder, katy Roberts wan, Debby and, Professor himself. He described that he has shot the movie from his three mobile cameras and this movie is being released on social media.

Pakistani cricket Squad announced for the T20 World Cup has recently met Prime Minister Imran Khan in Islamabad. The meeting at the Prime Minister’s House lasted for more than an hour. After the meeting, the players seemed happy and their morale was high. After meeting Prime Minister Imran Khan, the National T20 Squad left the Prime Minister’s House.

The film Mah-e-Mir is shortlisted by the Pakistan’s Academy Selection as the nation’s official submission for consideration in the Best Foreign Language Film Award category at the 89th Academy Awards.
The film was not a big hit at the local cinemas but it won critical acclaim from not being a run-of-the-mill Pakistani film.

Mah-e-Mir star cast includes Iman Ali, Sanam Saeed, Alyy Khan and Manzar Sehbai.The film is written by Sarmad Sehbai. The setting of the film Mah-e-Mir is of contemporary times. The film is mainly about the life of a young poet who suffers due to poverty and separation from the one he has fallen in love with. Due to that he is driven to madness and that is when he discovers the famous Urdu poet Mir Taqi Mir.
Mah-e-Mir was shortlisted through secret balloting by committee members including Iram Parveen Bilal, Zeba Bakhtiar, Adnan Siddiqui, Hasan Zaidi, Sheema Kermani, Sarmad Khoosat, Jamshed Mahmood Raza, Jamil Dehlavi and Adnan Sarwar and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy. Chinoy chairs over the committee.

In 2013, the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee selected Zinda Bhaag , in 2014 it was Dukhtar in and in 2015 it was Moor. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will choose the final nominees for all award categories in January 2016.

Cricket world cup 2015 is starting from next month in Australia and New Zealand. The official kit of Pakistan Cricket Team is unveiled in a colorful ceremony in Lahore. It is second such instance where world cup is hosted by Australia and New Zealand. On previous such instanse in 1992 Pakistan won its maiden title under the captaincy of Imran Khan.

This event was organised by Pepsi and held at the Royal Palm Golf and Country Club in Lahore.All the members of the national cricket team along with team officials participated in the event.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has already announced 15-man squad led by Misbah-ul Haq for the tournament
Other team members include Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafeez, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Younis Khan, Harris Sohail, Umar Akmal, Shoaib Maqsood, Shahid Afridi, Yasir Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Junaid Khan, Ehsan Adil, Sohail Khan and Wahab Riaz.

Pakistan is a country which has a lot of talent whether it comes to academics or the entertainment industry. The country seems over-loaded with the people of all ages who have something or the other, very special with them. However, what lacks within the nation is the availability of exposure for the talent. It has been seen that with an advancement in every field of life, Pakistan’s media industry is also flourishing day by day,providing opportunities to the talented people within the country.

The show would be based on Singing and dancing and the judges of the show would be none other than, Savra  Nadeem, Asif Raza Mir and  Faisal Qureshi. The show would be aired on ARY TV and is expected to earn a decent TRP.

Who is the winner on television this Ramadan? Yes, GAME SHOWS! From Amir Liaquat, Fahad Mustafa to Sahir Lodhi everyone ventured into the genre. Even our sports stars Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhter are also running their game show this season.

As we all know Fahad’s show topped all the TRP Charts during Ramadan, Amir bhai was also giving Mercedes and planes on his show. So who won the race for being the most paid host? The answer is……………….!

Yes you guessed it right: Fahad Mustafa.

If reports are to be believed Fahad has claimed to be the most paid host of the season though he did not reveal his salary; followed by Amir Liaquat. With Jeeto Pakistan being the favourite show of the audience during Ramadan; this is not of much surprise. All in all it cannot be denied that game shows have become another genre on the television and if TRP’s are to be believed people are loving them.

America’s Got Talent is an American reality television competition created by Simon Cowell that is currently airing its 21st season on NBC. The show started premiering in 2006. The format of the show features singers, dancers, magicians, comedians, and other acts competing on a national stage for a grand prize of $1 million. The show has also inspired franchises in multiple countries, including India, and now the format has arrived in Pakistan as well.

In Pakistan’s Got Talent, Mehwish Hayat, Ali Zafar, and Tabish Hashmi will judge talented contestants. The show is set to premiere soon on Geo TV.

The show’s arrival in Pakistan has ignited severe public backlash, with many saying that Pakistan Got Talent will face the same fate as Pakistan Idol, which was shut down midway due to budget issues. One wrote, “It is a cheap version of America’s Got Talent or India’s Got Talent.” Another said that the stunts shown in the show are also fake. One wrote that Tabish Hashmi as a judge is a big no and that he has given fake expressions throughout the show. Another wrote, “Pakistan is like ‘Aag Lagay Basti Mein, Hum Apni Masti Mein,’ meaning that whatever happens, nothing affects the media.” Read the comments here:

Pakistan’s Got Talent will be a part of a big global franchise. Got Talent franchise is filmed in multiple countries and they give artists from different walks of life including music, acting and stunts a big platform to impress their respective nations. The show is making its way to Pakistan and the launch is going to be big.

Pakistan’s Got Talent is all set to debut and Geo Entertainmnent is the network which is bringing it to Pakistan. Big names from the entertainment industry have been roped in who will appear as the first judges on the show. The names have been revealed and this has definitely increased the excitement for the show.

Three big stars: Ali Zafar, Mehwish Hayat and Tabish Hashmi will be the judges on the show. Ali is a musician and actor and he has global stardom. Not being the first one in any trend going viral in any field, Pakistan will now be adopting the foreign trend of introducing zombie movies within the country. As per news received, ‘Walking Dead’ will be the first Pakistani zombie movie which will be entertaining the viewers with its said thriller. There have been some worth appreciating horror movies which were nicely done in a low budget including Siyaah, Zinda Laash, etc.

 The movies is been directed by Usman Mukhtar and has been filmed in Dubai. As a result of collaboration in between Usman Mukhtar and Muse Dubai, the movie also has some Dubai faces who will be seen doing leading roles such as like Nidhi Jha, Nadia Williams and Nitin Mirani. The screenplay has been written by Shahana Khan and so far, the project has been quite satisfactory for Roha Daud, co-founder of Muse Dubai. He said:

 “A zomcom in particular, hasn’t been shot on this scale locally, making it a great collaboration between South Asia and the Middle East, based on talent. Although the film industry in UAE is steadily growing, I haven’t heard of any [movies] being made in this genre”.

It was recently seen that zombies had been a hot topic for both Bollywood and Hollywood movies that also did an average business. While India’s ‘Go Goa Gone’, starring Saif Ali Khan had been a disappointment for his followers, Brad pit’s  World War Z is still running on box office and doing a significant business.

Now that Pakistan is too planning to coup up with the race, ‘Walking Dead’ is considered to be an important move in Pakistan’s film industry.

The movie will be releasing in two months so hold on your breaths to find what will be coming out your way under the said banner.

Kami Sid’s latest photo shoot is not just another photo shoot because it isn’t merely about a model promoting a brand but it is a social activist breaking barriers. Kim Sid is a transgender who has been fighting for the rights of other transgenders for the longest time now. This time around he is creating history by being the first transgender model in Pakistan.

Transgenders are usually relegated to the background in all social circles and do not get easily accepted in the workplace too. Because of the social nonacceptance of transgenders in Pakistan they are usually make-up artists working backstage but never in the center stage.

The make up for this photo shoot was done by Nighat Misbah of Depilex and photographer Haseeb M. Siddiqi took the picture. Waqar J. Khan also styled Kami. The end result was a look which is being appreciated by many.

Sid grew up in Karachi in a middle-class family with seven siblings – and a male name. “I was very feminine,” she recalls. Her family wouldn’t let her go outside for fear she would be molested. Her father passed away when she was an adolescent and she was raised by her mother, who Sid says is completely accepting.

She has a bachelor’s degree in business studies, and wanted to study in the UK – but couldn’t get a visa. Her brother got her a job at a freight-forwarding company, and then she landed work at a visa consultancy. In 2012, her outspokenness on Facebook got her noticed by an activist running an organisation focused on trans issues. That year, Kami travelled abroad for the first time – to a transgender network conference in Thailand – which opened her to the world of activism. But it was her debut fashion shoot last year – as Pakistan’s first trans model – that brought on a slew of attention. (Via The Guardian)

Kami is all set to make her acting debut on Express Entertainment in collaboration with Talent Hub and Gold Bridge Media production house in their upcoming play Dil e Nadan. Just like Kami’s real life story the play too revolves around the life of a transgender and her relationship with the society.

In a recent interview Kami gave the following insight about the play,

“I have been offered roles before in television, but they always wanted me to do dance numbers and reinforce the stereotypical image of transgenders. That’s why I didn’t do any of them. For Dil e Nadan, it was different. In fact, the story was shaped into what it is after we met and discussed how it’s supposed to not do the same schtick.”

When asked about her character in the play she said it is also named Kami,

“This is a human story about me and how a community where I live supports me. I feel it’s great that Talent Hub is giving opportunities to all genders and all kinds of people.”

She further added that she doesn’t mind transgenders who opt for roles that include singing or dancing but she has an image to uphold as an activist.

“I may dance like Madhuri Dixit but don’t want to do this on screen. I have to represent my community in a positive manner and it’d be weird if I do such a role and then go to colleges and talk to kids about changing our image.”

She concluded her interview by saying she hopes Dil e Nadan helps in portraying a more human side of transgenders to the public. The play airs on Express Entertainment, commencing November 6 at 8:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Pakistani cinemas will soon be raising curtains for Pakistan’s first ever super hero film. Syra Shehroze, Himayun Saeed, Sheheryr Munawwar, Talat Hussain, Adnan Jaffar. Both the leading males( Himayun & Sheheryar) will be playing the role of superheros. In an interview related to movie director said that movie has nothing to do with anti-terrorism,purpose of movie is just quality family entertainment & to reduce negativity.

Movie is directed by Nadir Shah. He said in an interview that the most beutiful task was selection of costumes, that should be comfortable and incredible! He as well added that the mask ther’re wearing in the movie is specially made with 3D technology with highest standards.

Director more added that Syra’s character is as well full of positive and heroic vibes. Movie is almost 40% complete and onwards in Northern hillstation of Pakistan. Makers faced many problems because there was no history that relates to super heroes criterea in Pakistan, but they are pretty sure that final product will make Pakistanis proud! Shooting of the movie started 7 months ago and will be complete by the mid of 2017. We really hope makers justify the first attempt for super hero film!

We all would’ve seen online English films but now Djuice Pakistan is going to release Pakistan’s very first online film. Djuice has stepped further into the world of digital communication and has come up with this interesting film called Oye Kuch Kar Guzar.

The Film starring Ali Safina, Uzair Jaswal, Ushna Shah, Mahjabeen Habib & Nayyar Ejaz will be releasing on 3rd December by Djuice Pakistan on their official YouTube account. The trailer of the film was released 2 days ago and it indeed looked quite promising.The Film is packed with romance,suspense and adventure!

HIP got in touch with the two handsome leads (Ali Safina and Uzair Jaswal) of the movie and found out what they think about this new initiative.

Uzair Jaswal revealed, “Oye! Kuch Kar Guzar revolves around the taboos of society and how you should follow your heart and do what you aspire to do. It’s linked to a youthful brand, djuice Pakistan. Youth is connected to the internet all the time, so it’s probably the best medium through which we can connect to a mass audience.”

“It’s the first online movie so let’s see how it goes. Despite the risk involved, it looks like a good investment and a step towards the future,” he further added.

Ali Safina had similar views about this new and exciting venture. “It’s a great opportunity! It’s going to be a global thing and will not just be releasing in selected cinemas, in just a number of countries. TV is going to be obsolete and YouTube is the future,” he told HIP

“Everyone needs to chill out and just connect to the internet. It’s a movie with an interactive medium. You have access to it on your very own cellphone, all you need is a good connection. ”

Revealing a little about the story, Ali Safina added, ” Oye! Kuch Kar Guzar revolves around my character Sherry who I can totally relate to. Sherry’s ambition to be a singer takes him to the most unforgettable journey of his life and his struggles are somewhat similar to my own. In him, I see how I was during my struggle phase”

There was a time when our Pakistani film Industry flourished like flowers in summers and then came the downfall. The downfall that lasted till a few years back when our film industry began its revival journey.

Chillar Force will be Pakistan’s first live-action superhero film for kids which will be another milestone for our film industry. Our film industry has started to explore all genres of films in the recent years and this is what was missing.

Auditions for the main cast consisting of five children was held all over the country and we are pleased to inform that a careful selection has been made of the leads. These five children will be trying to save Pakistan from different problems using their superhero abilities and skills in the film.

The audition took place between children of ages ranging from 8 to 12, and the selection on the basis of the 1 minute videos that they uploaded on YouTube. About ten thousand children ended up auditioning for the different roles in the film.

This film is being produced by Farhan Qaiser and is being formed under the banner of Persia film Productions. Along the children in the film, Ayesha Omar, Ahmed, Shafqat Cheema, Tipu, and Salim Miraj will also be working too.

The chosen children are given special dancing and acting classes. The part of the film that is to be shot in Karachi is under work these days, Balochistan and Punjab are the other provinces where other parts of the film will be shot at.

The budget of the film is roughly eight million which isn’t a lot. It is no surprise though as getting a good budget for a movie featuring children is quite tough. Farhan Qaiser is determined to complete the film despite all the obstacles and hardships that come in the way of the success of this project and we wish him all the best for this film!

The world is turning into a high-tech place where the imaginations of yesterday are becoming a reality of today. It was Hollywood initially that made the fiction look like a reality and gradually the trend was introduced in India too with Koi Mil Gaya, Kkrish, Robot and RaOne type of movies which were based on superhero idealogies and now it is Pakistan to catch up the race with its first Superhero Movie.

Been produced by Aamir Sajjad, Nation Awakes is the first superhero movie that enjoys a huge budget of 250 Million. Aamir  would also be seen in the movie with his acting skills. According to the producer:

 “The basic concept of the film is that it is not a normal superhero movie — we are trying to take a different route by exploring Pakistan’s current scenario,” 

The movie is said to be filmed in 12 different countries and would be a bilingual film, targeting English and Urdu as the real languages. As the movie revolves around technology, the characters of the movie are been developed using the latest technologies in US and  other countries.  Although nothing much has been revealed about the project yet, it has been disclosed that the music of the movie has been composed by Sahir Ali Bagga.

The director of the film, Umair Nasir Ali revealed that about 20% of the script is still incomplete and once done with it, the casting of the movie would be scheduled in April. The first teaser of the movie would be out by June as per schedule.
