Meri Zindage Hai Tu – Aman taking over all charges of Meenu

0

Episode started with a perfect frame of Naazo, wearing heavy earrings and having her dinner with rest of family members.I was wondering continuously that what is the occasion actually ? And then within a moment, I got a flashback that Aman presented those earings to Naazo as a token of his affection on getting distinction in her intermediate exams.Everyone was enjoying their meal to fullest except one person who is none other than Rudaaba. I laughed out literally when I saw that jealous look at Rudaaba’s face. On the other side, Naazo’s peaceful face expressions were telling us that she is no more uncomfortable now. But wait this is not the end of her tensions.

2    Naazo had her own dreams since her childhood. Her parents, Irum and Safeer also boosted her up to live up her dream of becoming a doctor one day. As medical studies require loads and lots of attention and Naazo’s attention is wholly for Meenu so she decided that she won’t go for medical studies and will continue with Bachelors in some general arts subjects. According to my point of view, Naazo should have given Meenu some space, no matter what it takes. In that way, Meenu would get used of Naazo’s busy schedule par Naazo tou Naazo thei. Out of two possible ways, she opted Meenu’s happiness and sacrificed her dream.

3But she didn’t know that Aman was there to help her out all the time whenever she is in trouble, she sorted every issue and asked Naazo to start her medical studies. In the beginning, Meenu was the centre of Naazo’s attention, instead of her studies. From leaving for her medical college to during lecture in class, all she do is to take care of Meenu and think of Meenu.

4

Aman observed it many times that with Meenu’s responsibility Naazo won’t be able to continue with her studies so he decided to take Meenu’s charge in every possible way. As expected , Meenu found a new friend in Aman and she started enjoying every moment that she passes with him.

5

I can sense some negative vibes  from Meenu. The  way she discussed everything with Naazo regarding Aman and her friendship with her and her expressions were indicating some forthcoming storm in their lives.

6

I loved discussion between Aman and Naazo today. The way Aman said that Woh umhain chahti hai iss lyai mai usai chahta hu ,woh tum se mohabbat karti hai iss lyai mai uss se mohabbat karta hu narrated that what Aman thinks of his and Meenu’s relation.

Villain Rudaba and her mother are planning something fishy. I hope they wont get success in what they are thinking for Aman and Naazo. Lets see what happens next.

Stay Blessed,
Rabia Basharat.

Meri Gurya Episodes 9 & 10 Review – Powerful Performances

Tonight’s episode of Meri Gurya covered how Abida’s parents finally found out that their daughter was brutally killed and it also showed the role of the media and the police. It was shown how Abida’s father who vowed to get his daughter’s murderer and rapist punished was silenced by the authorities. Everything was shown realistically which is why just like every other episode of this drama this one too was impactful as well as upsetting. The most upsetting part of tonight’s developments was the helplessness of the parents and the role played by the police. Having said that, there were scenes in which the background score was annoying. Sania Saeed and Sajid Hassan’s acting was so powerful that there was absolutely no need to play the melancholic background score. Mohsin Abbas Haider continues to be impressive and it is definitely refreshing watching Sonya Hussyn play the savior for a change. Every little development was shown in detail in this episode which made it even more painful.

Meri Gurya Episodes 9 & 10 Review - Powerful Performances

The writer introduced the characters brilliantly in the first few weeks which is why Abida’s loss tonight was even more disturbing and I had no trouble connecting to everyone’s feelings. Everything that happened in this episode, once again reminded me of Zainab’s brutal murder and I can’t help but wonder how watching all this would impact people who actually knew Zainab and were related to her. I have said this before and I feel the need to say this again – the makers of this drama could have highlighted this issue without dramatizing the actual events. Shehnaz and Safina’s characters continue to be my favorite part of this drama. They are strong women who will eventually do whatever they can to get Abida justice. Dabeer’s scenes tonight once again showed how evil he was and how content he was to get away with another murder. Safina on the other hand did whatever she could to help Shehnaz not because she felt for her but because she could relate to what Shehnaz was going through. Shamir’s character has been etched-out brilliantly too. He loved his daughter and wanted to do whatever he could to get her justice but he is also someone who is easily led. His mother managed to convince him that he should listen to the police and as a consequence he decided to leave everything to the authorities and stopped putting pressure on them.

This episode also showed how the people who had gone through the most traumatic experience of their lives had to host lunches and dinners for the “guests” who came to give their condolences. . This is another one of the bitter truths of our society! The role of the social media was also highlighted realistically in this episode. Some of the issues which were highlighted tonight were sadly a little too familiar and this is definitely not the first time that we watched these issues being highlighted in a drama. I do feel however that these issues should be highlighted over and over again! This episode of Meri Gurya had some of the most amazing performances to its credit. I am looking forward to Shehnaz’s journey now. The preview of the next episode showed that she was not going to stay quiet.

Overall, this was a powerful episode but it could have been far better if it wasn’t inspired so much from Zainab’s murder and was slightly less dramatic.

Meri Gurya Episodes 7 & 8 Review – Truly Upsetting!

These two episodes of Meri Gurya covered the tragedy which was bound to happen but definitely not one which the viewers were looking forward to. Tonight’s episode opened with Dabeer telling his mother that Safina was the one who gave Samreen poison. His mother would have fallen for this lie if Samreen didn’t tell her that she took the poison herself. It was difficult to believe that someone like Safina had fallen in love with Dabeer so much that she would brush something as big as this under the carpet. This recent development in the story was unconvincing as well as disappointing. While I understand why someone like Safina would be interested in fixing a man like Dabeer, it is difficult to relate to the fact that she is still willing to live with him knowing that he is capable of killing her. The reason she gave was that she wanted to find out why he did not want to stay with her and it wasn’t convincing enough! Shehnaz and Shahmir’s conversation however was well written and brilliantly acted out. Shehnaz is an intelligent woman who refused to fall for the “blackmail” and tried to do whatever she could to stop this marriage from taking place.

Abida was a sweet and innocent girl whose mother did everything she could to protect her but the second Shehnaz was a little distracted because of her own troubles, Dabeer the monster took advantage of the situation. This basically goes to show that you just cannot protect your children enough especially when the monster who kidnaps and kills children might be a seemingly harmless neighbor who doesn’t have to try very hard to harm your child. This entire incident was covered in a painfully realistic manner. Dabeer had been planning this for a long time now therefore all he needed was an opportunity which he got when Abida’s father was busy getting married to a girl old enough to be his daughter.

Meri Gurya Episodes 7 & 8 Review - Truly Upsetting!

The scene which covered Shehnaz’s frame of mind once she found out that her daughter was missing was truly distressing. Sania Saeed is a remarkable actress who did complete justice to these scenes. The desperation with which Shehnaz looked for her daughter and her condition when she found out that Abida really was gone was extremely heart-wrenching. While watching all these scenes the reality hit home that it takes only a few seconds for something like this to happen. Mohsin Abbas Haider yet again performed brilliantly throughout. Dabeer knows only too well how to cover his tracks. Shehnaz’s mother in law’s attitude while she was desperately looking for her daughter went to show that she couldn’t care less. Right now, for her the most important thing was to get her son married so that he could give her a grandson. Safina did whatever she could to help Shehnaz not knowing that the person she was married to and sympathized with was the culprit. The callous attitude of the police was also covered in this episode, another aspect of our society we are a little too familiar with.

This was one of the most upsetting episodes of Meri Gurya so far. The preview of the next episode suggested that Abida will meet an end similar to that of her friend. Shehnaz is surely not the kind of person who will let someone get away with something like this therefore I am surely looking forward to how she will fight for her daughter. Shehnaz’s character is extremely likeable and Sania Saeed’s performance is impressive as usual. The drama will only get better once the focus is entirely on the three central characters. Mohsin Abbas Haider and Sania Saeed owned their characters completely tonight and their performances were outstanding.

Meri Gurya Episodes 5 & 6 Review – Realistic and Gripping

As the story is progressing, Dabeer’s darker side is being shown more in depth through different scenes. Mohsin Abbas Haider has yet again outdone himself in another difficult character which isn’t only negative but truly horrific as well. The director also covered Dabeer’s scenes brilliantly, the camera angles and the duration of these scenes was perfect. Shehnaz and Safeena’s relationship is turning out to be one of those positive aspects of this drama because of which even with a theme like this one and an evil character like Dabeer, the overall feel of these two episodes wasn’t too depressing. I do still feel however that the writer has taken a lot of inspiration from Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hei when it comes Shehnaz and Shahmir’s track. Also, the fact that Abida has already “disappeared” once and tonight she almost got kidnapped isn’t the best part of this track so far. I feel that the writer is trying too hard to keep the viewers at the edge of their seats. In every second episode, the viewers are led to believe that this might be the time when she gets kidnapped and eventually perhaps murdered. The preview of the next episode showed just that, yet again!!

The scenes covering Dabeer and Abida’s interactions are scary enough to make the viewers dread the moment when Dabeer will kidnap the poor girl. The child actress playing Abida’s character is adorable and she is performing really well. Also, apart from these incidents, Abida gets a lot of screen time in which the viewers got to see different sides of her personality and also her relationship with the people around her. I absolutely love the relationship Shehnaz has with her daughters and I also appreciate the fact that these characters are realistic. Although Shehnaz is practical and intelligent but there are times when she too has to give in to her husband’s absurd demands and she cannot help being beaten by her husband. Also, although Shehnaz told Abida repeatedly that she should never trust anyone, it didn’t take her long to trust Dabeer.

Shehnaz and Safeena’s relationship is beautiful! In these two episodes, they developed a special bond and helped each other out. Sonya Hussyn and Sania Saeed also share amazing on-screen chemistry. Shehnaz and Safeena’s honesty and trust on each other is the best part of their relationship. Since Safeena has been shown as someone who won’t walk away from a difficult situation therefore it seems like Safeena has taken up Dabeer as a challenge. Also, like any other mashraqi lrki, she seems to have fallen in love with her flawed husband and now she wants to give this marriage a chance. Dabeer on the other hand is just plain evil! I am glad that the writer has portrayed him this way and hasn’t shown a sensitive or vulnerable side of his personality.

Meri Gurya Episodes 5 & 6 Review - Realistic and Gripping

Tonight, when Dabeer felt that Safeena was being too “nosy” first he tried to turn his mother against her and when that did not work, he went added rat poison to her food! Dabeer is a cold-blooded murderer who is continuously planning his next move. His real intentions and personality is so ugly that he cannot reveal even a tiny bit of it in front of anyone. This is the reason why he is always so withdrawn and quiet. It is good to see Sonya Hussyn playing a role which is positive and powerful. Safeena’s character has been etched-out brilliantly and it is becoming more likeable with every passing episode. It is always good to see women who share a healthy relationship with each other in dramas especially because we are shown women plotting and planning against each other all the time!

These two episodes were not faultless but I have to say that this drama is getting more interesting with every passing episode. It serves a bigger purpose which also gives it an edge. All the developments in these two episodes were shown realistically except for the scene in which Dabeer slips the rat poison’s empty bottle in Safeena’s bag. A criminal like him should know that he cannot leave his finger prints and expect to get away with it. These two episodes had some brilliant performances to its credit. Sania Saeed and Sonya Hussyn acted superbly but Mohsin Haider completely stole the show! Special thanks to the director for not overdramatizing events and scenarios and keeping everything real.

Meri Gurya Episodes 3 & 4 Review – Highs and Lows!

These two episodes gave further insight into the personalities of all the central characters and their relationships with each other. It was just as disturbing as the first two episodes because it was shown in detail how a paedophile’s mind works. Dabeer’s scenes were the most frightening element of these two episodes. Mohsin Abbas Haider has once again nailed a character which isn’t easy to translate on screen. However, I must say that because lately we have seen a few really good dramas which highlighted the mindset of such sick people you can’t help but compare this drama with Udaari in particular and Dabeer’s character with that of Imtiaz. While Imtiaz was a more clever person who knew how to manipulate others and his personality characteristics definitely fit in more with the general profile of such criminals, there are certain aspects of Dabeer’s personality which are difficult to understand. It was shown that Dabeer always liked playing with dolls and still owned dolls, I am wondering how does this aspect of his personality fit in the whole picture and why is it considered “not normal” for a little boy to play with dolls. I feel that it would have made more sense if he kept these dolls to allure little girls as opposed to showing that because he played with girls as a child there was something wrong with him since he was little. I could be wrong but that is the impression I got from this scene.

Overall however the writer has intelligently conveyed how such people get all the details they need and the fact that this is someone who is really close to the family also hits home. In these two episodes, Dabeer made up his mind that Abida was going to be his next victim and he did whatever he could to get all the information he needed to execute his evil plan. All his interactions with Abida were terribly frightening and when Abida went missing I found myself hoping that she was still alive. I am glad that the writer didn’t rush things and I also hope that Abida is somehow saved in the upcoming episodes too. In these four episodes, Abida has been introduced as a sweet girl who unlike her sisters goes to a madrassah because the education there is for free. Although, she is the third girl her grandmother never wanted and wished she was a boy but she is also the one who is relatively closer to her since she doesn’t go to school and isn’t “liberal” like her sisters. The child actress playing Abida’s role has played her part really well. Sania Saeed’s acting as usual has been effortless and effective. She is convincing and likeable as a mother who does whatever she can for her daughters under the given circumstances. Safeena’s character is likeable but Sonya Hussyn’s hairdo and overall outlook isn’t up to the mark. This character could have been far more impressive had it been translated on screen differently. Having said that, it isn’t difficult connecting to the kind of relationship Safeena and Abida share and the genuine concern Safeena has not just for Abida but for everyone else too. Big Bang should give up this hairstyle for good, it didn’t look good on Saboor in Meeras and it doesn’t suit Sonya either. The production house is coming up with better stories but the supporting actors and the overall feel of their plays needs a makeover.

Meri Gurya Episodes 3 & 4 Review - Highs and Lows!

Although Safeena wanted Dabeer to divorce her whenever he could but now she has realized that she can fulfill her dream while being married to him therefore she has decided to make this relationship work. Dabeer’s withdrawn attitude around her made perfect sense. He was constantly planning his next step and thinking about all the information he had gathered so far. Safeena could tell that there was something wrong with him but she could never even imagine that the person who she thinks needs help, actually needs to be put behind bars. Dabeer mentioned that Jahan Ara’s father used to teach him Quran and he said so in a meaningful manner. I am wondering if he went through a traumatic experience in the past!

In this episode the viewers saw that Abida’s phupo Jahan Ara will ultimately end up “assisting” Dabeer without knowing it. Shehnaz’s close relationship with her daughters has been well established in these four episodes therefore it will be heart-wrenching watching her suffer in the upcoming episodes. The preview of the next two episodes was confusing and it was difficult to tell whether or not Dabeer will be able to execute his evil plan, which is definitely better than knowing exactly what will happen next! So far, Meri Gurya has been a decent watch and I am waiting to see how the story moves forward in the upcoming episodes. The way this drama shows that a murderer and rapist could be a seemingly harmless neighbor is yet another reminder that parents should not trust anyone with their children. Although, Udaari and Muqabil both gave the same message but I do feel that these things should be shown on television repeatedly since there are times when parents tend to overlook such aspects.

How many of you watched these latest episodes of Meri Gurya? Do share your thoughts about it.

Meri Gurya Episodes 11 & 12 – A Mother’s Determination

This was my favorite episode of Meri Gurya; poignant and powerful. Tonight’s episode highlighted how the families of the victims are silenced for all the wrong reasons and the viewers also saw how this silence benefits the rapist and murderer. The spell-binding performances coupled with crisp editing, faultless direction and a well-written script made this episode a must-watch and extremely impactful. Although everyone performed exceptionally well but Sania Saeed’s performance and her character was simply amazing tonight. Sania Saeed translated the strength of a mother impeccably on screen. The scene in which Shehnaz was sending her daughters to school was very touching. The writer also brilliantly showed how two women who were determined to seek justice managed to overcome every single obstacle that came in their way and did whatever they could in order to get their message across. The recent events also rightly highlighted the power of social media and the impact it has on such cases. This episode also gave a strong message about how important it was for the victim’s family to stand up for their loved ones. Electronic media can be manipulated and the police too often does whatever it can to close a case but no one can stop the voice of those people who care enough to share such videos and do whatever they can to help the victims.

Safina’s character continues to be interesting and likeable. Tonight, it was also good to see her trying to reach out to her mother. She can no longer ignore just how “strange” her husband behaves but at the same time she has not started to think that he might be the killer. This recent development in the story would have been more convincing had Safina not known that Dabeer had tried to kill her. Sonya Hussyn is doing complete justice to her character and tonight her makeover too was right on point. Abida’s father’s character and the role he is playing has also been shown in a realistic manner. I am glad that he has not been shown as a heartless man but he is someone who comes into pressure easily and cannot assert himself the way his wife can. He is guilty of backing out and not doing enough for his daughter but at the same time he is not the bad guy. You understand why someone like him would end up feeling clueless and frustrated in such a situation. The neighbors who are more interested in keeping the women indoors than ensuring that their streets are safe were also a true depiction of the mindset which exists in our society. I am extremely thankful to the writer for showing so clearly how all this was benefiting Dabeer and not helping the victim’s family in any way. Sajid Hassan has nailed his character, he makes it really easy for me to connect to his character and even with all his shortcomings, I find myself feeling for him.

Meri Gurya Episodes 11 & 12 - A Mother's Determination

Arfa’s mother said that one of her dolls was missing – was Dabeer collecting all the dolls which belonged to his victims in his closet? I must say that Dabeer’s character has also been etched-out brilliantly. His behavior when he is in public and his reactions when he is alone and listening to a development which helps him cover up his tracks say a great deal about his personality. He is clearly a psychopath who must have gone through some ugly experience in his childhood which made him the devil he is today. Mohsin Abbas Haider is extremely talented and I especially liked his acting tonight in one particular scene in which Dabeer finds out that Abida’s dead body might be dug out again for a proper autopsy. This drama is terrifying and realistic but most importantly it has tons to offer. The only downside is that some incidents are greatly inspired from Zainab’s actual case. The producers could have easily made this drama without dramatizing those tragic events.

This episode wasn’t just emotional and powerful but also inspiring. It showed that sometimes it only takes two determined individuals to question system in such a way that it doesn’t go unnoticed. The preview of the next episode showed that Safina will no longer be alone in this battle and she will be heard! Really looking forward to that.

Meri Gurya Episode 15 & 16 Story – Justice Denied!

These two episodes of Meri Gurya had quite a few unexpected and horrifying developments. These episodes were also emotional, fast-paced and upsetting like all the previous ones. The makers of the drama have definitely managed to get all their messages across loud and clear! Sadly, the most important point highlighted in this episode is one of the most bitter realities of our society. Even though Shehnaz and Safina were determined to get justice for Abida but the pressures and the threats culminating into actions turned into a major setback. It was terribly sad watching a mother who had just lost her daughter in the most tragic manner possible, fighting so many different battles at once and ultimately being punished for taking a stand for her daughter only because the criminal and the criminal minded people had more support than the victims and their families had!

Dabeer’s character is getting even more evil with every passing episode and Mohsin Abbas Haider continues to impress. The makers of the drama have shown realistically how so many people fail to tell the difference between right and wrong. In this episode the viewers once again saw how some people’s vested interests and egos got in the way of Shehnaz and Safina. This drama shows why staying quiet after something tragic like this is always considered as a more “safe” option. It also shows that when people like Sheikh sahab take desperate and criminal steps to satisfy their ego the only person they are helping is the murderer and the rapist. Dabeer is a sick-minded evil serial killer who keeps the toys of the girls he murdered as trophies. Right from the beginning, the writer has shown that this man has absolutely no conscience and no remorse – something which makes perfect sense because anyone who is capable of questioning their actions would not repeatedly kill innocent girls. I have watched many documentaries about serial killers and I must say that Dabeer’s character is brilliantly etched-out. He has all the traits of a psychopath and Mohsin Abbas Haider has translated this character superbly on screen.

Meri Gurya Episode 15 & 16 Story - Justice Denied!

Although Dabeer has always been shown as pure evil but even then what he did to his sister tonight was shocking! This just went to show that he can kill anyone at all – whether it is a girl who lives in the neighborhood or his own sister. I am glad it was shown that Samreen suspected Dabeer and started questioning him because it was too obvious that he was hiding something. It was however strange that Safina fell for Dabeer’s lies and believed that Samreen actually ran away with someone. Even though Safina asked Samreen once if there was someone in her life who she wanted to get married to but she knew Samreen so well and she also knows for sure that it was Dabeer who gave her poison. This was the only development in this episode which did not really make sense.

These episodes had plenty of scenes covering what Shehnaz’s daughters were going through and how Shehnaz was dealing with the situation. I absolutely love Shehnaz’s role because it isn’t just inspiring but also close to reality. Shehnaz’s biggest strength are her daughters, no matter what she is going through she always makes sure that her daughters know that they are loved and their mother will be there for them at all times. Although Shehnaz heard her daughters saying that their mother did not love them any more but she did not shout at them and neither did she start crying but her approach was amazing! She went there and told them how she had loved them and cared for them when they were little so that they knew how special they were for her. Shehnaz’s scenes with her daughter are always poignant and beautiful! Sania Saeed is a brilliant actress who always manages to win me over but I especially like her in this role. I truly felt for Safina tonight too, for the first time it seemed like she was tired and clueless as well. She even asked Dabeer to stay with her so that she could feel safe which basically went to show that she could not cope on her own. Dabeer’s cold response and what he said later on once again showed that he was incapable of feeling anything for anyone. Sonya Hussyn is doing complete justice to her character which is why I always look forward to her scenes. Yawar started playing a more active role in the story with this episode and although previously he had given up, now he took a stand for Abida and those raising a voice for her whenever he could.

Meri Gurya Episode 15 & 16 Story - Justice Denied!

These episodes were two of the most upsetting episodes of this drama but the preview of the next episode gave hope that Shehnaz and Safina will not give up after all. There will be protests in the upcoming episodes and Safina will start noticing the “other side” of Dabeer’s personality. This drama keeps me at the edge of my seat and never disappoints. The entire team has done a remarkable job of keeping everything as real as possible. I am looking forward to the time when Dabeer will get caught and punished.

Meri Gurya Episode 13 & 14 – Powerful and Inspiring

This was another amazing episode of Meri Gurya which was poignant, disturbing as well as inspiring. It covered everything from the pressure Shehnaz and Safina faced to the affect the latest developments had on Dabeer. Meri Guriya is improving with every passing episode and this particular episode was one of my favorites. Sania Saeed, Mohsin Abbas Haider and Sonya Hussyn have outdone themselves in this drama. Sania Saeed has been part of a lot of powerful dramas in the past too and she always gives every role she chooses to play her best but this character in particular is truly inspiring for so many reasons. Sonya Hussyn played the role of a victim in drama serial Aisi Hei Tanhai but in this play she is the fighter who is the main reason why Shehnaz and all other mothers like her mustered up the courage to take a stand for their daughters. Mohsin Abbas Haider was beyond impressive yet again in this episode. His expressions when Safina was packing up to leave and when his mother knocked on the door were priceless. His character and acting shows the real face of a cold-blooded murderer.

Meri Gurya Episode 13 & 14 - Powerful and Inspiring

The writer has shown how a man who is mocked because he isn’t confident enough has turned into a psychopath and feels in control and powerful by raping and killing young girls. The way he wrapped Abida’s duppata around his face when he was alone showed he had absolutely no remorse but was actually rejoicing the fact that he got away with another murder. Dabeer got more confident and happy when he saw everyone rallying against Safina and Shehnaz. Watching Safina pack up and give up was the happiest moment for Dabeer tonight. Finding out that she was back and willing to fight back once again was the scariest moment for him. The writer has effectively shown what scares a criminal which is why no matter how difficult it is to stand for what is right, one must not give up.

At the beginning of these episodes Safina felt dejected and lost because of the criticism she faced after the video went viral. At that time she had no idea what impact this video was going to have. Once she and Dabeer’s family members found out that the step she had taken had not gone in vain, the tables were turned. This is when Shahmir too felt that he needed to support his wife which changed everything for Shehnaz too. I miss Shehnaz’s scenes with her daughters, it would have been good if the girls were not out of the picture. Dabeer started making mistakes the second he realized that Safina was back and later on when the police drew a sketch of the murderer and was looking for him more aggressively now. He felt the need to get rid of the evidence and while doing so he was not as careful as he should have been. This aspect of the latest developments couldn’t have been more real because many serial killers tend to lose control and make mistakes when they feel they might be caught. It seems like Dabeer’s sister will be the first one to notice her brother’s strange behaviour and perhaps his link to these murders too.

Meri Gurya Episode 13 & 14 - Powerful and Inspiring

Tonight, the writer aptly highlighted the kind of criticism a woman would face when she decides to leave her “char dewari” and do what needs to be done! I absolutely loved Safina and Shehnaz’s dialogues tonight about the kind of comments some people made under their video, how some people couldn’t see beyond their facial features and few other who thought that they were crossing their limits! The whole concept of ghairat and how it is used for all the wrong reasons was also explored in this episode. The shift in Shahmir’s character was a pleasant development. The role played by the higher authorities too unfortunately showed the real face of such people. This drama shows how important it is for the victim’s family to raise their voices and fight to get justice. It also shows that while there will be people who will do whatever they can in order to silence such voices, there will also be plenty of people who will come forward and help.

Meri Guriya has definitely taken off and has tons to offer. The only problem I have with this play is that there was absolutely no need to take inspiration from real life events because that must be really painful for the families of the victims. Other than that, this drama has tons to offer and continues to impress.

Meri Guriya Last Episode Story Review – Justice Served

Meri Guriya Last Episode Story Review – Justice Served

The most gratifying part of this last episode of Meri Guriya was the verdict and its execution. This verdict gave a clear-cut message which is the need of the hour. This is exactly the way a serial killer and a rapist should be punished and this isn’t something we get to see in our dramas very often.

The Trial

Having said that, the overall narrative tonight was exceptionally weak. The reason why the verdict and the atmosphere in the courtroom had an impact was because of the way the story was taken forward for all these weeks. The court’s proceedings were stretched and some of the parts were laughable. The role of the judge in a trial which was not only extremely serious because of the nature of the crime but also the hype attached to it, was absurd! The weakest scene was the one in which Dabeer’s lawyer declared that he was in fact mad and the judge went along with it until Safina came to the rescue. It was understandable that Samreen was under pressure and could not testify against her brother but later on watching her sit with Shehnaz and not formally apologizing was strange! Shehnaz’s dialogues in the court scenes were touching but they would have been even more poignant if they were not prolonged unnecessarily. Also, Shahmir’s absence from the trial stood out like a sore thumb throughout. Last but not the least, the DNA result came in the end! The DNA test result should have been evidence enough for the court to make a ruling especially because Shehnaz and Safina had to fight a long and hard battle to get it done. The trial was the weakest link in tonight’s episode but the outcome was definitely powerful.

Meri Guriya Last Episode Story Review - Justice Served

Character Development

The way Rab Nawaz had a change of heart was too sudden and not the least bit logical! The most funny bit was when he “Paused” in the middle of a murder to attend a phone call. This development could have been covered much more convincingly since this ending was pretty much stretched without a reason. Similarly, daadi was apologetic all of a sudden and that was it! She got so much screen time and the viewers were never given the hint that she was supporting Dabeer because she thought he was innocent. Same was true for the change in Dabeer’s mother’s stance, she wanted her son forgiven even if he was guilty – that was her stance last week – but tonight suddenly she accepted the verdict so wholeheartedly that she even went to witness Dabeer’s hanging! This was another aspect of this episode which was impossible to connect to.

Meri Guriya Last Episode Story Review - Justice Served

Most of us wanted to know why Dabeer turned into such a monster especially because some of the dialogues suggested that while growing up he was never like all the other children. I was thinking that maybe Dabeer had some awful experiences in his childhood and these experience perhaps in some way involved Abida’s grandfather but there was no such background. Showing or explaining the reason was surely a difficult road to take since very often our writers have turned rapists into victims while attempting to do so therefore I understand why the writer decided to skip that part. Dabeer’s ending was the most powerful and upsetting thing we have seen in our dramas and the message it sent is one which needs to be heard.

Performances and Execution

Kudos to Mohsin Abbas Haider for taking up a character which was pure evil and nailing it in every single episode. Mohsin Abbas Haider’s award-winning performance was right on point throughout. His expressions tonight were priceless. Sania Saeed’s character and her acting in this drama was absolutely brilliant. It was great watching Sonya Hussyn play a character which was strong and positive. She breathed life into Safina’s character and made it even more likeable. I would love to see her experiment more in the future too. Faris Shafi’s portrayal of Yawar was superb too right from the get-go. Although, the entire cast of this drama acted superbly throughout but in this episode few of the supporting characters were over-dramatic. Also, showing exactly what the DNA test results were in the few scenes showing what was going to happen after the commercial break was ridiculous.

The execution overall was okay but the background score in the last scene did not compliment the situation which was being shown. The script was the weakest tonight because many of the scenes were repetitive and the court scene in particular was not convincing. The ending however was superb.

Overall Impression

Meri Guriya was an extremely upsetting and powerful drama which kept the viewers coming back for more. It highlighted an important issue and had many important messages for the victims’ families as well as those who are at the helm of affairs. The last four episodes however were stretched and were not written as impressively as rest of the episodes. It was a pleasure reviewing this drama, it always kept me glued to my television screen and the performances in particular were amazing! A big thanks to all those people who read the reviews every week and contributed to the discussions.

Meri Guriya Episodes 21 & 22 Review – Highs and Lows

Meri Guriya Episodes 21 & 22 Review

Disbelief and Denial

Tonight’s episode of Meri Gurya showed how after Samreen was rescued by Safina, the news that Dabeer was the serial killer spread like wild fire. While Shehnaz, Shahmir, Yawar and Safina were in shock when they found out the truth, Dabeer’s parents were clearly in denial. Dabeer’s mother in particular did not even want to think on those lines and she blamed Safina entirely for this “false” news. Everyone’s state of mind was presented in a convincing manner. When Safina came to Shehnaz and broke this news to her, the expressions on Shehnaz’s face in particular and that entire scene was really powerful.

Khaani Vibes

The conversations and some scenes tonight suggested that Dabeer’s mother had a big role to play in shaping up his personality. The fact that she always covered up for him even when she knew that he was wrong added to making him what he is today. I must say that I was expecting something entirely different and still hope that there is a better explanation for Dabeer’s criminal behavior and evil ways. This particular track gave Khaani vibes. The whole message of Khaani was that parents are responsible for a child’s upbringing and if they don’t do their job right, the society suffers. Dabeer was never shown as a spoilt child or a grown up seeking control but he always came across as a psychopath. Usually such people have bigger underlying issues. One person who still needs a reality check is Abida’s daadi. I was hoping that Dabeer’s track would in some way be linked to her but there was no such indication in this episode. The fact that Dabeer was always different from others was reinforced repeatedly therefore it seemed like some incident in his childhood changed his personality. Waiting to find out more about this particular aspect since putting the blame Dabeer’s mother is not convincing enough.

MG-4

Sheikh Sahab’s Stubbornness

Sheikh Sahab’s stubbornness once again showed a different mentality which exists in our society. Talking openly about rape is considered a taboo which is why most rapists get away. Sheikh sahab has been shown as the samaj ka thekedar who cannot accept the fact that Shehnaz and Safina made him stand in a line to get his DNA tested. Similarly, Abida’s daadi was shown blaming the victims instead of blaming the rapist and the murderer. This unfortunately is the bitter reality of our society.

Shehnaz and Safina – Inspiring As Usual

Shehnaz has always been shown as a strong woman. Tonight, there were times when her strength was difficult to connect to but inspiring nevertheless. Sania Saeed’s brilliant performance continues to impress in every episode. Sonya Hussyn’s character too never fails to impress and inspire. Although Safina was completely shattered after discovering the truth but the amount of empathy she felt for all the mothers of the victims allowed her to carry on. The fact that Safina can feel other people’s pain enables her to do things most people are not even capable of doing. Empathy has always been the main driving force in her track. Even when she overlooked Dabeer’s flaws, she did it because she was trying too hard to understand him. The writer has etched-out both these characters brilliantly.

MG-3

Appearances Are Deceptive – Parents Should Not Trust Anyone With Their Children

The most important message in this episode and the serial overall is that parents should never trust their children with anyone. I was waiting to hear from Abida’s father that he was the one who asked Abida to give Dabeer water on the night she disappeared but that never happened. Shehnaz rightly said that she did whatever she could to protect her children but sometimes you are completely helpless. The basic reason why no one doubted Dabeer was because he came across as a shy person who it seemed was incapable of harming anyone. He used this image to have an easy access to people’s houses and probably to trap his innocent victims.

Performances, Execution and Script

Just like every other episode, tonight too, the performances were exceptional. Mohsin Abbas Haider is extremely convincing and impressive in this role. Sania Saeed, Sonya Hussyn and Sajid Hassan gave phenomenal performances in this episode. Even the child star playing Dabeer’s cousin’s role acted so well. The director has done complete justice to this script. The overall feel of this play couldn’t have been better. There were some aspects of the story tonight which were not as impressive as the previous few episodes but overall the script continues to be engaging.

The Preview of The Next Episode

The preview of the next episode was short and to the point. The next episode will cover legal proceedings. Meri Gurya has been an engaging and fast-paced play so far, I hope it is wrapped up soon and has a logical ending.

Meri Guriya Episodes 1 & 2 – Disturbing But Not Original Enough

Written By: Radain Shah
Directed By: Ali Hassan
Produced By: Big Bang Entertainment
Schedule: Every Wednesday 8pm

******SPOILER ALERT*******

I have to admit that the only reason I tuned into this show was the writer, I absolutely loved drama serial Nibah and was waiting for another drama written by Radain Shah. Also, right now, those dramas which highlight either social issues or revolve around family ties interest me more than those which focus on love triangles. Dar Si Jati Hei Sila set the bar really high therefore I couldn’t help but compare the two after watching the first episode of Meri Guriya. While Dar Si Jati Hei Sila dealt with abuse alone, this one showed the aftermath of a child’s brutal rape and murder and will also be focusing on the person responsible for this horrific act. Unfortunately, since we have all heard the gruesome details of how the beautiful and innocent Zainab was subjected to torture and rape therefore connecting the dots immediately was easy. The fact that the policeman pointed out that this was the 12th case of its kind showed that this particular incident wasn’t just fictional but was taken from Zainab’s tragedy. While this has unfortunately become a “trend” nowadays, I wish the makers of the drama didn’t add these details which showed the link of this story with that of Zainab. It is painful for the parents to watch such dramatized events on screen specifically when they know that this is their child’s story. Even if the intention of the makers is honest, this is unethical since Zainab’s parents made it quite clear that they do not want to see their child’s murder be dramatized. The details under the YouTube videos also mentioned that the drama makers have taken “inspiration from a real-life incident”. Having said that, I have faith in the writer and few of the actors involved therefore I am definitely going to follow this play and hope that the makers will be able to do justice to the story.

Meri Guriya Episodes 1 & 2 - Disturbing But Not Original Enough

The first episode of Meri Guriya gave me goose bumps, it was a little too disturbing because it covered how Arfa, a nine year old girl, was dumped in the forest after being brutally raped and murdered. While these events were covered with utmost honesty and realistically, I did feel that Big Bang Entertainment yet again used the shock factor as an attention-grabbing tactic. Shehnaz (Sania Saeed) and Shahmeer’s (Sajjid Hassan) track had Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hei written all over it therefore it won’t be wrong to say that this particular track isn’t too original either. The fact that Sajjid Hassan is playing the role of a man who cannot take a stand for his wife and doesn’t love his daughters enough and Ayesha Khan yet again is playing the daddi who hates her granddaughters, is constantly mocking them and her daughter in law doesn’t help either! Also, Shehnaz just like Naheed is a strong woman who loves her daughters and is completely focused on their well-being. One of Shehnaz’s 3 daughters Abida was really close to Arfa therefore she finds it really hard to cope with the loss. At the same time she is also fascinated by the dulhan next door since there is a wedding taking place in the neighborhood. She insists she wants to see the bride even though everyone is feeling terrified and insecure after Arfa’s murder. In these two episodes Abida and the new bride Safeena (Sonya Hussyn) develop a special bond with each other. Abida looks up to and adores the new bride and Safeena also likes her.

Safeena’s character reminded me of Farwa in the first episode but in the second episode the viewers were shown a different side of her as well. Safeena is outspoken, she plays badminton professionally and expects her husband Dabeer (Mohsin Abbas Haider) to divorce her soon so that she can pursue her career. Dabeer too isn’t interested in this marriage, he got married only to please his mother. ARY pretty much gave away the basic storyline and the reality behind the characters therefore even right now when the viewers should be wondering why Dabeer was crying in front of his wife and later on laughing when he heard that the rapist committed suicide, we know exactly why! Abida’s fate has also been mentioned in the summary given by ARY on YouTube! Sania Saeed. Mohsin Abbas Haider and Sajjid Hassan are my favorite actors, they are constantly experimenting and never fail to impress. These two episodes however could have been far more powerful had they not been inspired from Zainab’s tragedy and Mubarak Ho Beti Hui Hei. The story obviously will be completely different from that of MHBHH but these similarities should have been avoided.

After watching these two episodes I am still on the fence because of the lack of originality but curious to find out how the makers treat this incredibly difficult subject since they are not only going to focus on the victims but also the perpetrator. Also, I would like to request ARY to keep the summaries of their plays short and to the point because they give away a little too much!

How many of you watched these episodes of Meri Guriya? Do share your thoughts about it.

Meri Guriya Episode 23 & 24 Story Review – Justice Delayed

Meri Guriya Episode 23 & 24 Story Review – This second last episode of Meri Guriya covered how difficult it was for Shehnaz and Safina to get justice. Yawar stood by their side every step of the way and it has been pleasant watching this positive male character in a drama in which most men are just plain evil! The situations that were shown tonight had tons of potential but not all of them had the impact which they could have had. The performances like every other week were mind-blowing but some of the dialogues were not as powerful as they should have been. Also, even after Dabeer confessed to his crime somehow his confession was not taken into account in the court. The leading characters especially that of Safina and Shehnaz are the best thing about this play right now and the performances never falter.

Vested Interests Stand In The Way Of Justice

These episodes of Meri Guriya showed how people’s vested interests, arrogance and a mother’s blind love for her son stood in the way of justice. For Sheikh Sahab saving Dabeer was always a matter of his pride and “reputation” but now he also has added interest because Dabeer’s parents are willing to marry off their daughter with him. Similarly, the SHO who lost his job because of this case now is more determined than ever to teach Safina a lesson since she slapped him. Dabeer’s mother thinks her son is her “savior” and Abida’s daadi will side with anyone who is against Shehnaz! She cannot bear to see two women taking the lead therefore she considers it her duty to put them down every chance she gets. All these people aided Dabeer in every way possible tonight and that is how once again even with all the proof and the confession Shehnaz could not get a verdict.

meri-gurya-1

Strengths and Weaknesses of The Characters

Some of the characters in this play have some major strengths which are truly inspiring but then there are other characters which have not been etched-out properly and a great deal is left to the viewer’s imagination. When Dabeer’s father went along with everything tonight so willingly, it was not easy to relate to. Also, Shahmir’s “support” for his wife keeps you guessing. His character is a little too weak. The writer perhaps did this to accentuate Shehnaz’s strength but it would have been so much better if he was given a proper role in this entire situation. He turned Dabeer’s father back and also told his mother off but that was not enough. It would have made more sense if he accompanied Shehnaz to the court.

Performances and Direction

Even though, there were quite a few scenes tonight which could easily have been chopped down but overall, these episode were directed brilliantly. The director kept everything realistic and except for the confession scene, none of the scenes were over-dramatic. Sania Saeed’s performance is always the highlight of every episode. She brings out the best in her character. Sonya Hussyn once again did complete justice to her character tonight. Mohsin Abbas Haider is amazing! His expressions tonight when Sheikh Sahab comes to get the divorce papers signed were priceless! Faris Shafi is extremely likable in this role. His on-screen chemistry with all his co-stars and his natural acting make his scenes more impactful. All the supporting actors have acted brilliantly too. There are very few dramas in which every actor gives such a superb performance.

Overall Impression

These two episodes did not have the best script, we have seen much better episodes of Meri Guriya. The direction and the performances however were on point as usual. I was expecting Dabeer to get more screen time tonight since the viewers want to know his background and history – the reasons why he turned into a monster. I am looking forward to a last episode which will in some way cover that and also give this character the ending it deserves. So many characters need a reality check, I hope the ending is as good as the drama was overall.

Meri Guriya Episode 19 & 20 Story Review – Fast-Paced & Engaging

Meri Guriya Episode 19 & 20 Story Review – This drama continues to be extremely engaging and the performances tonight were once again simply mind-blowing! Most of the times, watching two episodes of a serial can be a daunting task therefore for a reviewer, the weaknesses might stand out more than the strengths. Tonight, these two episodes were so impressive that the strengths completely overshadowed the few weaknesses.

The Shooting At The Dharna

Shehnaz and Safina managed to go through with their plan for the dharna with the help of Yawar and few other families. Right from the start of these episodes Shehnaz, Safina and even Yawar had started doubting Dabeer. Gradually as the story moved forward, they kept on getting convinced even more that Dabeer was hiding something. The shooting at the dharna injured Safina but like she said, it also helped their cause by getting them more attention. The role of the police has changed completely in the past few episodes ever since the policeman in charge was removed and the politicians stepped in. As a result of this, the person responsible for the shooting was caught immediately and ultimately Sheikh Sahab who planned everything was arrested as well. All these developments were shown in a compelling manner. There were no loose ends which is the main reason why this episode as a whole was extremely engaging.

MG2

Approval For The DNA Test

In these episodes, Shehnaz and Safina finally achieved what they wanted. It was only after the Cheif Justice took notice of this case that the DNA testing was approved. Dabeer’s condition, after it was announced that the DNA testing will be done, was one of the best parts of this episode. Mohsin Abbas Haider yet again gave a performance which was truly impressive. He definitely deserves an award for his faultless performance in this drama. Dabeer kept on playing the vulnerable fool whenever it suited him and he switched to his evil side when he knew it was “safe” for him to do so. Jahan Ara played an important role in making everyone doubt Dabeer even more. Jahan Ara has always been shown as someone who thinks she is really clever but in reality she is easily fooled.

This time, when Shehnaz and Safina interrogated her tactfully, she told them everything and after that drawing conclusions was easy! Sania Saeed’s outstanding performance tonight made her scenes even more impactful. It is always a treat watching her perform because her acting is always effortless and on point. Safina and Shehnaz’s relationship continues to be the highlight of this drama. Sonya Hussyn also acted brilliantly tonight, I can tell she was really into this character since her performance throughout has been perfect.

MG1

Mothers Should Talk To Their Daughters About Everything

In these episodes, the most important message was that mothers should talk to their daughters about things that truly matter. They should tell them that if a stranger or even a relative tries to get overfriendly while the parents are not around then they should inform the parents. Shehnaz has always talked to her daughters about these things and even when her daughters came and told her that they felt uncomfortable around Dabeer, she did not discuss anything with them but she made sure that they don’t go back to that house. The way Shehnaz deals with such situations is inspiring. I absolutely love her character especially as a mother.

Dabeer Tries To Escape!

Yawar played an important role in ensuring that Dabeer gets his DNA test done. It is so good to see a positive male character in this drama who is actively doing whatever he can to help Safina and Shehnaz even though Dabeer is his brother. Faris Shafi is extremely likeable in this role. Dabeer decided to run away but the way he did it was quite sloppy! There are times when Dabeer takes such reckless steps which make you wonder how he got away with all these murders. It would have been good if he tried to escape without anyone knowing since he already knows that everyone is suspecting him. Furthermore, Safina chasing him and ultimately finding Samreen was a thrilling addition to the story but definitely one which should not be stretched.

MG-2

The Preview Of Episode 21 & 22

The preview of the next episodes showed that Dabeer will get caught but he will once again run away! I hope the story is not prolonged unnecessarily and Dabeer gets punished soon.

Overall Impression

Tonight’s episode was directed brilliantly, the performances were superb, the overall development in the story was exciting as well as intriguing but there were a few additions which seemed forced. The episode as a whole however was wonderful! Definitely looking forward to what the upcoming episodes have in store for the viewers.

Meri Guriya Episode 17 & 18 Story Review – Outstanding Performances

Script and Story Development

Meri Guriya’s script so far definitely fits the bill, every episode is disturbing and distressing but at the same time there is always hope that ultimately the person responsible will be punished. Tonight’s episodes of Meri Guriya took the story forward considerably and the developments tonight were crucial to the plot. The writer has introduced the climax at the right time without stretching the events before the climax unnecessarily. Ever since Shehnaz and Safeena have joined hands, Dabeer has been making one mistake after the other. In the previous episode Of Meri Guriya, he locked the door of his house from the outside and even though Yawar saw him and asked him for help, he decided to stay put! In this episode it was good to see Yawar and Safeena both questioning Dabeer repeatedly, they wanted to know why he did not unlock the door. They also started wondering if indeed he was the one who locked the door in the first place. Safeena also had plenty of reasons to doubt Dabeer – Jahan Ara’s confession that Dabeer used to give her sleeping pills – and everything else she said made Safeena observe those things about Dabeer’s personality which she had not before. She even checked his locked cupboard but found nothing. By the end of this episode, Shehnaz too was not really sure if Dabeer actually was as innocent as he pretended to be. All these developments were shown in detail and showed a major shift in the story.

MG

Dialogues

Dialogues play an important role in making the screenplay more interesting and attention-grabbing. All the questions which the characters asked tonight were logical and every conversation added something to the conclusions these characters were going to draw eventually. The dialogues in this play have been written in such a way that they are effective but at the same they are natural. You never feel like the characters are lecturing the viewers even when they maybe giving an important message through these dialogues. Also, the scenes which were self-explanatory were not supported by dialogues, which is always a great idea!

Scenes and Editing

There were so many scenes in this episode which were shot perfectly. The close-ups, the timing of the scenes and the duration too was perfect. None of the scenes were stretched and there wasn’t a single filler scene in this episode which made it thrilling and happening as usual.

Characters and Performances

The performances in this play always leave me in awe of some of these wonderful actors who have so much to offer. Mohsin Abbas Haider‘s award-winning performance continues to be the best part of this drama. His effortless portrayal of a psychopath murderer never fails to impress. Mohsin Abbas Haider’s dialogue delivery and expressions both were outstanding in this episode. Dabeer’s character shows why looks can be extremely deceptive. He uses his “shyness” and “innocence” as a shield and it works every single time. Sania Saeed is absolutely brilliant as the wise and strong mother who sometimes loses her will to fight but always makes a comeback. The way she speaks to her daughters in particular is amazing! I love Shehnaz the mother and the warrior, she is an inspiration. Sonya Hussyn has also been superb throughout. Her character has so much to offer but it would not have been this effective, had it not been translated on screen so well. Safeena is the kind of woman most men feel threatened from. Even those people who had nothing to do with Abida’s murder are scared of her and want her out of their way because according to them, she is promoting liberalism. Safeena’s character is easy to relate to and even more likeable because she too has her weak moments and she is also perfectly capable of making wrong decisions. I really like Faris Shafi as Yawar too. Shahnawaz’s role keeps me guessing, he has changed a lot but we don’t really know why or how! Surely, his daughter’s death was the main reason but even then his character is confusing.

Preview Of The Next Episode

The preview of the next episode was a complete disaster! These previews should be short and should not give too much away but this particular preview practically gave away the most important developments of the next episode and I honestly regret watching it! After such a powerful episode which keeps you looking forward to more, it was nothing short of a blunder to show everything beforehand!

Ali Hassan’s most of the dramas during his start, were with very talented Mohsin Abbas Haider. Meri Guriya was the depiction of a true event which went popular amongst the audience because of the tragic rape and murder incident of that year.

Drama Muqabil was also a complexed issue-based drama handled carefully by director starring Kubra Khan and Mohsin Abbas Haider. The actor and director duo handles very complex issues with their talent and grasp over work. The complicated stories are not always easy to tell but Ali Hassan did it. He directed Visaal and Dilruba as well.

Meri Beti – The Finale

0

I started watching the play Meri Beti because it had some of my favorite stars. I must confess that all the dramas that have been produced by the Big Bang Entertainment (Fahad Mustafa & Dr. Ali Kazmi’s production house) start with a big bang but gradually go downhill after a few episodes. The casting and acting is always stellar but the direction is so weak that even a story with tons of potential falls flat completely.

The story of the play Meri Beti was unusual and intriguing but the writer and the director failed to keep the viewers looking forward to more after episode 18; like many other dramas the focus on stretching the dramas till episode 25 or more took over everything else. The relationships between all the characters were established beautifully in the beginning, I couldn’t help but connect to everything that I saw on screen. But once Iraj found out the truth, the pace of the drama got so slow that it was very hard to keep that connection with the characters. Iraj’s reaction was completely justified but the entire situation was dragged without end. Samina Peerzada’s character’s death was completely unnecessary. Everyone could have resolved their differences without this turn in the story. What Iraj’s grandmother did was extremely wrong because many people were affected by her decision but I really did not want her character to die with guilt! She was not portrayed as villain but was made to look like one towards the end. I would have been much happier with the ending if Iraj’s grandmother’s death was not used to take the story forward.

mb

Faisal and Iraj’s relationship was the only good thing about the play that lasted till the end. There were times in this last episode and also in the play overall when the emotional scenes were overplayed. Simplicity and clarity in direction most often leaves more of an impact than scenes that are over dramatic. There was way too much crying in the past few episodes as well. Irij took too long to forgive her grandmother who had given her all the love in the world which could easily have made up for the mistake she committed in the past. Iraj’s grandmother’s intentions were always pure; she wanted her daughter to be happy and she raised Iraj in the best way possible. Iraj’s mother in law got away with everything but the writer made sure that her grandmother paid for her mistakes! It is ironic how our writers conveniently forget about these trouble makers when they are winding up the story. They are used as a tool to create misunderstandings but these negative characters hardly ever pay for their mistakes.

mb2

The story was stretched to the limit, so much so that by the time we got to episode 20, I just wanted the play to be over! I completely lost interest in the play after Samina Peerzada’s character died because in my opinion her character deserved to be happy just as much as Iraj and everyone else. Samina Peerzada, Sabreen Hisbani, Arij Fatyma, Shahood Alvi and the child star Maryam deserve a special mention for their brilliant performances.

How many of you followed the play Meri Beti? Are you satisfied with the ending?

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode – Some Thoughts

Since I genuinely look forward to our discussions every Saturday on this particular thread therefore I decided to watch the Mere Pass Tum Ho special episode (show) although I usually don’t watch such shows. So here I am sharing some random thoughts about Mere Pass Tum Ho in general and the ‘special episode’ in particular. We have all been waiting for the ending of Mere Pass Tum Ho impatiently, the producers did not only decide to add an extra episode to the serial but also delayed the ending. I must say that this was a really intelligent move from a monetary/business point of view but one which frustrated most of the viewers.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

The fact however remains that this hype is backed by massive viewership therefore despite the fact that most of us do not agree with some of the marketing strategies and tactics used by the producers to ensure that viewers tune in to the show when it goes on air, most of us are equally excited to watch this last episode. The question is that whether this last episode will live up to the hype? From making the viewers wait to airing the last episode in the cinemas, the producers have left no stone unturned to ensure that they have the viewers’ attention. Such marketing strategies have also upset those viewers who believe that the drama is not worth the hype!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

Tonight’s show however turned out to be another wise decision by the producers. Instead of showing flashbacks, another filler episode or a repeat episode, the producers managed to put together a show which was both insightful in some ways and entertaining.

Will Danish Die?

When Ahmed Ali Butt asked everyone present at the show how they wanted this drama to end, no one mentioned that someone will die therefore I have a feeling that someone might die in the end. Everyone was all for a happy ending – perhaps because there isn’t going to be one. Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar in an interview however said that there will be a tragic ending. No one once said that Danish will die in the end. It is impossible to predict how Mere Pass Tum Ho will end but it was great watching everyone involved sharing their opinion on one platform.

What Are Your Expectations?

It was interesting watching the host Ahmed Ali Butt sharing all those viral memes and asking all those questions which people have been asking. The question about sparkling water showed how good his research was! I love Ahmed Ali But as a host, he is not only witty but he is always well prepared. I would love to hear from everyone here what their expectations are from the ending. I have no clue what is coming our way but this ending definitely reminds me of the way all of us looked forward to Dillagi’s ending. The situation in this drama however is far more complicated.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

Is Mere Pass Tum Ho Worth The Hype?

Whether Mere Pass Tum Ho is worth the hype or not is debatable but the attention this drama got is definitely unmatched. It would also be unfair to say that Mere Pass Tum Ho was just another story about betrayal because for the first time the viewers got to see a man’s perspective in such detail – what a man goes through when he is hurt and betrayed. The team Mere Pass Tum Ho definitely succeeded in getting that message across. Like every other drama written by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar this one too had quite a few dialogues which the viewers loved and others which were considered regressive by viewers who do not agree with the writer’s philosophy. Nadeem Baig deserves all the praise and definitely an award for the magic woven by him on-screen. Even when the first few episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho did not work for me at all, I always noticed and appreciated the beautifully rendered details which created the right atmosphere for every situation. It was good to see Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar showering Nadeem Baig with all the praise because he surely deserves it.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

The stellar performances by Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui in particular added to the overall appeal of this drama. Last but not the least the writer managed to make a somewhat familiar story extremely powerful. Technically too this drama had no glaring flaws. There were times when the story was lethargic and repetitive but for the most part Mere Pass Tum Ho managed to entertain the viewers with quite a few unexpected twists and turns. Some of the emotional scenes will stay with us for a really long time. I am hoping to see an ending which will truly make Mere Pass Tum Ho memorable.

Final Remarks

I must say that after a really long time I am truly looking forward to the last episode of a drama. Although initially I felt that the idea of a special show might just add to the hype and nothing else but this show was actually like spending two hours with the people who entertained us for so many weeks. The good thing about this show was that everyone was included in it and only those actors were missing who couldn’t make it to the show. Shees is a witty child, he actually left Ahmed Ali Butt speechless.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

I must say however that Humayun Saeed has been brilliant as Danish but he seemed quite distant in this interview although he is the producer as well. Ayeza Khan looked stunning and I enjoyed her remarks and presence in the show. But this is definitely not the first time that she is playing a negative/grey character, she recently played three such characters in Yaariyan, Tau Dil Ka Kya Hua and even in Mohabbat Tumse Nafrat Ho. It is funny how everyone was cautious while talking to Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar but even then Ahmed Butt managed to ask him quite a few interesting questions. Nadeem Baig is a gem for sure.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Special Episode - Some Thoughts

Am I the only one who feels that the producers are trying really hard to sell us the ‘Hania/Danish’ couple. Hira Mani and Humayun Saeed also shared screen space in a commercial and somehow the on-screen chemistry is just not there. Am I the only one who feels that way? Apart from the fact that Hania and Danish just did not get enough screen time together, the actors too do not have great on-screen chemistry.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Last Episode Story Review – Poor Rumi

Mere Pass Tum Ho finally came to an end tonight. The first 20 minutes of this special episode were dedicated to showing the recap of the previous 22 episodes. This recap was well put together but a commercial break right after showing the recap was definitely not the best start to the most anticipated last episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho. I must say that I was expecting this last episode to be grand but in the first 20 minutes of the actual episode there were hardly any conversations or dialogues which truly stood out. We have certainly seen much more impactful episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho. The ending turned out to be predictable but not as impactful as expected because of the overall execution.

Poor Rumi

This last episode’s most emotional scene came at the end but it did not work for me at all. Which doctor would allow such a patient to take off his oxygen mask and have a conversation with a kid? The only character I truly felt for was Rumi – poor kid after going through so much, he also had to witness his father’s death first hand. Danish’s dialogues were emotional but watching him have this long conversation in the condition he was in was also laughable…not impressed at all! I can already see all the memes coming. In the end Danish died of a heart break which in a way was the only apt ending for his character since he could never live a happy life without Mehwish. The entire scenario covering the heart attack right from the time it happened was covered in such a way so that before dying Danish could say his final goodbyes – been-there-seen-that.

The conversation between Shehwar and Maham showed that Shehwar was truly remorseful and he was certain that he did not deserve to spend the rest of his life with Maham. Maham however did not want him to go this soon but at the same time was not willing to leave him. Shehwar basically chose to leave because he wanted to and in the end he blamed Mehwish entirely. Maham’s dialogues and her stance was disappointing.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Last Episode Story Review - Poor Rumi

Final Remarks

This last episode did not work for at all since Danish’s death was the most predictable ending, something most of us anticipated. Unfortunately, the death of the one character the viewers loved the most was not even covered convincingly. Rumi and Danish’s scenes in this episode were sweet and I do feel that the writer decided to make the ending all about the father-son relationship owing to their popularity.

Mere Pass Tum Ho’s story started off as a familiar one. What set it apart was the superlative ensemble cast led brilliantly by Nadeem Baig. Like every other drama penned down by Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar this one too highlighted his philosophy of love and unfaithfulness. Some of the dialogues were simply mind-blowing – razor-sharp to be more precise, there were others which could easily have been chopped down and then there were certain conversations which explained commitment and love beautifully. Danish was undoubtedly the star of the show. The way his emotions were covered especially after he senses that Mehwish was going to leave him was beyond impressive. The credit for that goes to Humayun Saeed and Nadeem Baig both. Humayun Saeed did exceptionally well especially in those episodes which covered the heartbreak, the realization that his wife had moved on. That for me is going to be the most memorable aspect of this time. Humayun Saeed’s superlative performance in Mere Pass Tum Ho is definitely going to be the reason why people will be looking forward to Humayun Saeed’s next television appearance.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Last Episode Story Review - Poor Rumi

The story was at times lethargic and repetitive but it kept the viewers guessing right till the end. Some of the tactics used by the producers to lure the viewers also played a major role in keeping the curiosity intact. Most of the controversies involving the drama in my opinion were misguided and ill informed. Shees Saji Gul is adorable, confident and a really witty child actor who was at times put into situations in the drama which were not appropriate for a child his age. Rumi’s dialogues in the last few episodes were definitely over-the-top and at times inappropriate for his age but his relationship with Danish was always heart-warming. It would have been so much better if this innocent aspect of the father-son relationship was explored more.

Adnan Siddiqui owned his character right from the get-go. Shehwar’s character could have ended up being just another negative character if Adnan Siddiqui did not translate it on screen so impeccably. Hira Mani’s outlook and the performance in the drama did not appeal to me much. Hania always came across as a judgmental and holier-than-thou character. Savera Nadeem made a brief but impactful appearance, the ending however was a complete disappointment. Ayeza Khan looked stunning throughout but her character did not have a lot to offer. I think she acted the best when she decided to leave Danish and the two episodes covering her regrets. Muhammad Ahmed’s performance especially in the last scene was one of the most moving performances we saw in this drama. Other than Hira Mani all the other actors did a great job of making sure that their appearances went well with different situations they were in. Other than few scenes towards the end which had some continuity issues.

The director Nadeem Baig made sure that the viewers soaked in every single emotion by focusing more on expressions in some of the scenes. The camera work in Mere Pass Tum Ho was simply amazing throughout. Right from the beginning the director even introduced Dewan sahab’s character in such a way that you could sense he was somewhat mysterious. The OST of the drama was also used intelligently throughout. The lyrics, its composition and Rahat Fateh Ali’s powerful vocals made it one of the best OST’s of the year.

Quite an exhilarating ride overall! Watching Mere Pass Tum Ho and reviewing it was a splendid experience. I really enjoyed reading everyone’s feedback and would like to thank all the wonderful readers for making sure that sometimes the discussions on reviewit were more interesting than some of the episodes.

I must however say that there was nothing new about this ending and I truly feel for those viewers who bought tickets to watch this last episode! It was not even engaging enough and did not have the flow which most of the episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho had. Danish’s conversation with Rumi was heartbreaking but it could have been shown much more convincingly.

Please share your thoughts about this last episode of a drama which gave us so much to discuss for 22 weeks. Did this ending work for you?

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 22 Story Review – Regrets and a Proposal

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho was supposed to be a relatively longer episode as promised by the producers and the channel itself but that was not the case. I am truly disappointed by some of the tactics which the producers of this drama have used to ensure that viewers watch Mere Pass Tum Ho when it goes on air on television. While it is perfectly fine to try and grasp the attention of the viewers through marketing, such lame promises only frustrate the viewers. I am certain now we will be told that actually the last episode will be 60 minutes long!! People who have been watching Mere Pass Tum Ho for 20 weeks will obviously tune in to the last 3 episodes as well therefore my kind request to the producers to take it easy and not be so desperate since the drama is already getting enough attention as it is!!

The Proposal

This episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho yet again focused on the love triangle and once again the big question remains whether or not Danish will forgive Mehwish. It was great watching Anoushay Abbasi on screen after such a long time. Rumi yet again played the matchmaker and many of his dialogues in this episode as well were not age appropriate. Some of the dialogues tonight were beautifully written and just like every other episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho, this one too banked more on the conversations than anything else. Hania accepted Rumi’s proposal because in her opinion the poor kid was trying to rescue his father. Wateera played a role similar to the one she has been playing in the past few weeks – making Hania realize that she does indeed have feelings for Danish. I was hoping that there would be more to Mateen sahab’s story but apparently not. Danish wore the ring but he is clearly not ready to commit to anyone. It is easy to understand why Rumi would want Hania to be there with him, the poor kid is lonely but Danish is going through so much mental turmoil that even the thought of getting married again wouldn’t have crossed his mind otherwise. At the end of the day it was ‘aba’ more than Rumi who convinced Danish to go along with what Rumi has started.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 22 Story Review - Regrets and a Proposal

Mehwish and Danish

The way Mehwish walked out of Ayesha and Salman’s house after that conversation Salman had with Danish in front of her showed she still wanted to be in control. My favorite dialogue from tonight’s episode was, “apne jalay hue khoon se kahani likh raha hoon. Likh raha hoon ke chalo bewafai us ka haq tha, haq us ne istemal kar liya tu ab haq na jataye mujhe pe.” That is exactly what Mehwish is trying to do even now – she feels helpless because she no longer has the control which she had on Danish once. Danish on the other hand has made up his mind that Mehwish no longer controls or ‘owns’ him.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 22 Story Review - Regrets and a Proposal

Somehow even with all the regret that is being shown, there are times when Mehwish’s behavior shows as if she is entitled to be forgiven! Monty turning into the bhai was funny but the role his wife played was quite likable. Ayeza Khan’s look changed completely when she entered the flat, when she was having breakfast with Salman and Ayesha her hair color was different and when she entered the flat it was much darker. Basically she went from being Mehwish to being Sehar (her character’s name in Thora Sa Haq). Her look in the scenes shot at the apartment was the one she is sporting in drama serial Thora Sa Haq. Her actions too later on were quite like Sehar ;) I was not expecting Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar to add this part but yes definitely something you can relate to since everyone turns to God when they feel completely helpless. I also feels that these scenes were added later on when the producers felt that they needed to increase the number of episodes.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 22 Story Review - Regrets and a Proposal

‘Wo tarap ke mujh se kaha karta tha mere pass tum ho aur mein janti thi wo undr se yehi keh raha hei tum tu mere pass nahi ho Mehwish” was another dialogue in this episode which was so powerful – it explained so much. Basically Mehwish acknowledged that even when she was with Danish, she wasn’t entirely with him! Although she blamed Danish for being insecure but this was the reason why he was always unsure and probably felt the need to show Mehwish how much he loved her so that she won’t leave him.

Shehwar and Maham

Shehwar has turned in to this bheegi billi and Maham is making sure that she makes his life a living hell. Maham clearly has not forgiven Shehwar but she also does not want to let go of him. She is also making him suffer and treating him more like an object – someone she owns and can treat any way she wants. Shehwar deserves that and more but I am waiting to see how this particular track ends. Savera Nadeem has an absolute screen presence and Adnan Siddiqui is just as convincing as the bheegi billi as he was as the phanay khan ;)

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 22 Story Review - Regrets and a Proposal

Final Remarks

Am I the only one who is not rooting for Hania and Danish at all? I don’t find this on-screen couple or the ‘love’ Hania feels for Danish appealing or convincing. I am definitely rooting for Danish and want to see him living a happy life – wish Rumi could have been happily settled with his father and wasn’t bent on ‘rescuing’ him. There was an overdose of Rumi in tonight’s episode as well. The drama could have easily ended this week. I am waiting for the ’emotional’ last episode which is not meant for the faint-hearted – I hope it fits the bill.

Did you watch tonight’s episode? Do share your thoughts about it.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 21 Story Review – What’s Next

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho had some new developments and there were a lot of scenes which were repetitive. Just like the past few episodes, this one too focused on bewafai and whether an unfaithful partner should be forgiven or not. Danish clearly thinks that Mehwish does not deserve forgiveness. Salman and Ayesha’s dialogues were confusing since they clearly wanted Danish to take Mehwish back when it is just not possible. Shehwar and Maham’s scene was intriguing. It seems like Rumi isn’t the only one who doesn’t understand the meaning of ‘divorce’.

Rumi’s Dialogues and Situations

I must say that watching a 6 year old kid talk about attempted suicide was more disturbing than all the matchmaking attempts by Rumi. Shees Sajjad Gul is absolutely adorable and his acting has been impressive but Rumi’s role in this episode was extremely hard to digest. Through these scenes, the writer helped the viewers understand the feelings of different characters but Rumi’s scenes really irked me. The way this 6 year old is left unattended and misses his parents should have been the focus of attention because this part of Rumi’s track actually shows how divorce impacts children. Rumi’s fascination with his teacher is understandable but the way he keeps on changing his mind makes him come across as a really disturbed child who is constantly trying to take control of situations which should be handled by adults. This makes me wonder if some of Rumi’s scenes were added later because the viewers find his interactions with his father in particular cute.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 21 Story Review - What's Next

Shehwar and Maham

Shehwar and Maham’s scene was interesting. It was almost as if Maham thought that putting Shehwar behind bars wasn’t enough – he deserved worse. The explanation she gave Shehwar and what she had said to Mehwish earlier clearly suggested that she wanted to make Shehwar suffer on her terms and conditions. The look on Shehwar’s face was priceless when Maham told him what are plans were! He is clearly scared and completely unsure what Maham is going to do next. These scenes also suggested that Maham might give Shehwar a death sentence – is she going to kill him? So far, Maham keeps you guessing, it is difficult to predict what her next move will be. Savera Nadeem and Adnan Siddiqui both acted superbly in this scene. It was also directed brilliantly, the flashback scenes and the present scenario showed just how much things had changed in the past few months.

More of Rumi

There was an overdose of Salman and Ayesha’s scenes in this episode and most of these scenes didn’t have anything new to offer. Salman and Ayesha have been pleading Mehwish’s case as if Danish and Mehwish are not divorced. This entire ‘experience’ has been quite ‘educational’ for Rumi – he has learned about divorce, he has heard his mom say that Hania is his dad’s girlfriend, he has learned to propose on his father’s behalf and last but definitely not the least he knows that if you cut your vein you can die! Rumi is the one most affected by his parents’ divorce yet that is not being shown as an issue at all. On the contrary, Rumi’s dialogues and scenes are supposed to be entertaining. There is nothing entertaining about a 6 year old acting like an adult!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 21 Story Review - What's Next

Favorite Scene

My favorite scene from tonight’s episode was the conversation between Danish and Mehwish. Mehwish was always just as naive as she was greedy. This conversation basically showed that she had not grown as an individual. Mehwish still thinks she can mould relationships, stay in someone’s life and leave whenever it suits her. My favorite dialogue from this scene was, “dekho meri ankhoon mein ansoo aa gaye aur tumhare liye rona mujhe acha nahi lagta.” This was such a meaningful dialogue which showed why Danish does not want any interaction with Mehwish. Danish is done investing his feelings in this relationship. There couldn’t have been a better way to get the message across to the viewers. Humayun Saeed does exceptionally well in such emotional scenes. Mehwish buying the flat was yet another development which depicted how immature she still was. If Danish wanted to buy the flat, he could have conveniently done so. Monty’s inviting Mehwish for tea was actually funny! Yes, he is married now but he obviously finds it really hard to just ignore Mehwish!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 21 Story Review - What's Next

All of Mehwish’s scene tonight showed how regretful she was. She cried in almost all the scenes and her dialogues suggested she wanted the life she once lived with Danish back. When Mehwish left Shehwar’s house, she was immediately looking for a job but now her sole purpose in life is to get back into Danish and Rumi’s life/house!

Final Remarks

Iqra Aziz and Yasir Hussain’s announcement of making an appearance in this episode was obviously yet again marketing strategy. The producers added the promo of Jhooti to the drama itself but that obviously had nothing to do with this episode or Mere Pass Tum Ho. The next episode was supposed to be the last one but the promo of the upcoming episode suggested that it is going to be the second last episode. Mere Pass Tum Ho has been an emotional and powerful journey overall but tonight’s episode wasn’t the best one. Just like every week however, it had a few good scenes and dialogues but overall there was a lot of repetition. I am not rooting for Hania and Danish at all! Definitely waiting to see how this drama ends.

Waiting to hear what you guys have to say! Share your thoughts in the comments section.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 20 Story Review – Character Development

There was a certain degree of character development in this episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho as well. Tonight’s episode belonged to the director Nadeem Baig who captured every emotion with utmost precision. He has really intelligently made the most of the talented cast. Most of the times the expressions of these actors say more than their dialogues do. The writer it seems is going to keep the viewers guessing right till the end. Every character shows a different side of the picture which basically confuses the viewers even more. Some of the changes tonight were difficult to relate to but for the most part yet again team Mere Pass Tum Ho gave the viewers yet another intriguing episode. There has still not been any mention of Mehwish’s family which perhaps is a surprise which the writer wants to reveal in the end. The fact that Mehwish has nowhere to go suggests that she doesn’t have the option of going back to her parents, we can only wonder why at this point!

The Change In Mehwish

Until last week, Mehwish clearly came across as a manipulative person who thought she deserved to be forgiven. In this episode however, there were certain scenes which clearly suggested that she was indeed a changed person. Although the attempted suicide seemed more like a cry for help/attention and perhaps a little more manipulation but her conversation with Maham showed a different side of her. Unlike before Mehwish owned her mistakes because she said that she deserved the slap. Not only this she thanked Maham for giving her this much needed reality check. This was perhaps the first time that the viewers heard what Mehwish actually felt about this entire development. Mehwish wasn’t even eager to get that cheque from Maham, which was quite unlike her. Wealth always fascinated Mehwish but now even such a big amount did not excite her at all. Even though Maham came to ‘make up’ for the embarrassment she caused Mehwish but few of her dialogues gave Mehwish more reality checks. She basically told Mehwish that Shehwar used her and she sold herself too cheap! Maham’s dialogues also suggested that Shehwar was out of jail and she was not going to leave him.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 20 Story Review - Character Development

Since the business and everything else belongs to Maham, I couldn’t help but wonder why she needed pocket money from her husband. Savera Nadeem’s last performance in this episode was powerful. Everything about her performance was perfect from the way she looked to her cold expressions. Ayeza Khan has also transformed her looks to suit the situation she is in. The scenes at the hospital suggested that Mehwish missed Danish’s love and attention. She obviously wants Danish to love her the same. It is interesting how she remembers the way Danish looked out for her when she talks about her past and not once has she thought or talked about how much she loved him. This aspect of Mehwish’s characters makes her comes across as someone who would expect her man to shower her with love but would she do the same in return? The writer has shown different sides of Mehwish’s personality because he perhaps did not want her to come across as a bechari after all!

Danish, Mehwish and Hania

The mental turmoil Danish is going through was represented brilliantly. Some of his dialogues were exceptional. Danish’s first scene in this episode clearly showed that he still had a soft spot for Mehwish but Mehwish had lost her value in his life. The damage Mehwish had done was irreversible in his eyes. Although last week he said that he had forgiven Mehwish when Salman talked to him in the office but clearly he cannot forgive Mehwish. Danish still remembers and lives the hurt Mehwish caused therefore he cannot just forgive her move on. Humayun Saeed’s outstanding performance throughout has made Danish’s character easier to relate to and feel for. Did Mehwish attempt suicide so that Danish would come see her? It seems like Mehwish knows only too well that if and when Danish meets her, he will automatically forgive and forget everything she did. Danish too is doing everything in his power to avoid meeting or seeing Mehwish. In this way, the writer is keeping the viewers on the edge – making us wonder what is going to happen when they meet eventually.

Danish’s visit to Hania’s house and everything he said came right after Mehwish left that note on Danish’s car. Ayesha read that note but the viewers were not shown how Danish reacted when he read the note. The conversation at Hania’s place showed how honest and confused Danish was. The highlight of this entire development however was what Hania said when Danish was leaving. This was the first time that Hania confessed in front of Danish that she had feelings for him. Hania’s sister kept on reminding her that she was constantly talking about Rumi and Danish. Danish did think about what Hania said to him but it doesn’t seem like he feels that way about her. Hania’s dialogue about what Danish was looking for in a woman right now were brilliant! When Danish recalled Hania’s dialogues at that time he also thought about the time when he picked Mehwish from the airport – this scene was so meaningful and showed that Hania was right.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 20 Story Review - Character Development

Other Characters

Rumi wants his father to forgive his mother and he wanted to spend more time with her too. I liked this latest development because it made perfect sense. Before, when Rumi did not even want to meet his mother, he was scared of being rejected once again. Now he can see that Mehwish is back for good and she needs him therefore he is not only willing to be with her but also pleads her case in front of his father. The change in Ayesha’s attitude was another realistic and interesting development. Salman and Ayesha are great friends, sometimes a little too good to be true but they are nevertheless interesting addition to the show.

Final Remarks

The preview of the next episode was brilliantly put together. On the one hand everyone was pressurizing Danish to forgive Mehwish and on the other hand Rumi proposed Hania on his father’s behalf! Right now the biggest question is that whether Danish will forgive Mehwish or not? Even if he forgives her it is highly unlikely that they will have a future together. Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 19 Story Review – Apologies and Regrets

Mohabbat ki dori, wafau ke dhagay
Agr toot jayen tu jurte nahi hei

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho had powerful and meaningful conversations. The writer aptly covered every aspect of the given situation by defining commitment, highlighting the sanctity of nikkah and showing why Mehwish thinks she deserves forgiveness. In this latest episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho, Rumi’s conversations with his parents were the most impactful and touching. In his innocence he raised a few points which were quite meaningful. The responses he got gave an insight into Danish and Mehwish’s present state of mind. Ayesha and Salman’s conversation too was an interesting one which showed two different perspectives. Mehwish wants to be forgiven – she is pretty sure she deserves forgiveness. All the characters got equal screen time tonight. The pace of the drama is now steady and it seems like Shehwar’s track has ended. Therefore the story now will focus on Danish and Mehwish. Unlike last week, I did not feel for Mehwish at all while watching this episode.

Mehwish Wants To Be Forgiven

Tonight’s episode opened with Mehwish asking Ayesha and Salman to help her out. Even though Ayesha refused to keep Mehwish in her house, she later on helped her out with finding a job and a place to stay. Mehwish’s sole purpose tonight was to somehow persuade Danish to forgive her. Her conversation with Danish clearly suggested that she did not only want forgiveness but she also wanted to be a part of his life again! Danish’s dialogues in this scene were brilliantly written since they reflected his vulnerabilities with utmost honesty.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 19 Story Review - Apologies and Regrets

The Conversations

Mehwish’s conversation with Hania showed that she was sure she deserved to be forgiven. She was expecting Danish to take her back and forget everything! Someone like Danish would completely be capable of doing something like this but his dialogues tonight suggested that he did not want Mehwish back in his life. Some of Hania’s dialogues did not work for me at all but this conversation helped the viewers understand Mehwish’s mindset. Hania’s character most often shows a man’s point of view more than that of a woman’s. All of a sudden Mehwish is a completely different person, she has no problem apologizing and will do anything to have Danish back in her life.

When Mehwish called Danish, he did not recognize her – something which was really difficult to connect with! Salman had already told Danish what was going on therefore he should have been expecting this call. Also, how can you possibly forget your ex-wife’s number! Apart from this, the conversation was an interesting one since Danish was really honest and Mehwish was pretty confident that things could go back to ‘normal’!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 19 Story Review - Apologies and Regrets

Salman and Ayesha’s conversation was the best one tonight. Salman explained so well why even a man like Danish would find it difficult to go on loving someone unconditionally. The situation Ayesha narrated was surely completely different from this one. I loved how the writer highlighted the importance of nikkah through this scene and why it wasn’t okay for spouses to cheat on each other.

My favorite conversation tonight was the one Rumi had with Mehwish. When he told her that her father called her name after she left and asked her if she ever did the same, this was such a powerful scene. Through this scene the writer reminded the viewers that Mehwish indeed did not even think about Danish for a second after she left. Also, had she not been abandoned in this manner, she would never have looked back!

Although Mehwish was shown crying and asking for forgiveness in this episode but the way she went about it made it look like she was doing all this because she had no place to go. The preview of the next episode and Hania’s scene with her sister suggested that Danish might consider marrying Hania after all. Danish is clearly scared of meeting Mehwish – fearful that he might not be able to stand his ground if he meets her in person. Danish might have switched to an English breakfast but deep inside he is still the same person he was before. Humayun Saeed has translated all the different aspects of Danish’s personality impeccably on screen.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode belonged to Humayun Saeed – Danish. Danish’s dialogues in this episode were written exceptionally well and Humayun Saeed did complete justice to them. Rumi was also the star of the show tonight. Shees Sajjad Gul is absolutely  adorable. Nadeem Baig once again made every scene count by making sure that the pauses and close ups came at the right moment. The use of the background music in this episode was superb as well. The preview of the next episode suggested that Mehwish will have an accident. Waiting to find out how this drama ends.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 18 Story Review – The Downfall

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho focused entirely on Shehwar and Mehwish’s downfall. Everything happened too quickly and there were times when I felt there was a need to slow down. It was definitely good to see Shehwar getting punished as well since most often in such situations men are forgiven. Some of the conversations tonight were confusing and disappointing. Maham’s conversation with Deewan sahab was the most confusing conversation in this episode. After the dhamakedar entry, watching Maham feel bad for Mehwish and wondering if there was need for her to intervene or not, made no sense. Maham’s dialogues overall were extremely disappointing, I was expecting much better from Khalil-ur-Rehman. The sequence of few of the events affected the overall impact of some of the developments. Am I the only one who feels that Danish and Mehwish might end up together after all? Even though tonight’s episode wasn’t intense enough but this was another episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho which left the viewers wondering what turn the story will take from here.

What is Danish Thinking?

The best part of this episode was the way Danish’s scenes were covered. The kind of confusion the writer willfully created by showing these scenes is going to be the number one reason why people will watch the next episode. The opening scene of tonight’s episode was perfect. All the flashback scenes were put together carefully. One of these scenes also showed the viewers a side of Mehwish’s character which most of us might have forgotten – there was a time when she was in love with Danish! These scenes summed up Danish and Mehwish’s relationship and its end so well. This scene also showed that although it looked like Danish had moved on but he was still reliving the good and the bad times which he had shared with Mehwish, every single day. Later on, when he was informed by the chauffeur that Mehwish had come to visit Rumi in the school, his reaction was cold.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 18 Story Review - The Downfall

When Rumi narrated the entire story, Danish still did not react at all. When Salman called and told him what had happened, even then he was not interested in finding out the details. Did Anoushey tell him everything already or was he emotionally numb? In this episode, Danish’s track was covered better than all the other tracks even though his instant success has been really hard to digest! Humayun Saeed continues to give a solid performance since he translated this change in Danish so well on screen.

Too Many Reality Checks

Mehwish and Shehwar’s track was unbelievably fast-paced. There wasn’t a single conversation which reflected Mehwish’s state of mind except for her meeting with Shehwar. She swung into action a little too quickly – asking Salman for a job. Why didn’t she ask Anoushey for a favor? Watching someone as selfish as Mehwish running to her kid before she turned to Shehwar to find out if there was a way out was not very convincing. Maham’s final dialogues to Mehwish were not impressive at all, which was actually quite unlike Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. I was expecting these final words to be more powerful but they were pretty much like the du takay ki aurat dialogues minus the impact.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 18 Story Review - The Downfall

Mehwish and Rumi’s scene was emotional but watching Mehwish change completely with in a few hours was difficult to relate to. Rumi in a way asked his father to take Mehwish back. Ayeza Khan acted well and actually made me feel for Mehwish since she had nowhere to go and no one to turn to. Adnan Siddiqui was equally convincing in this new ‘avatar’!

Hania and Danish

Danish finally told Hania that the person she was advocating for was actually her! The change in Hania’s attitude after that was quite evident. She distanced herself from Rumi a little and kept her conversations with him short. When she made the decision to not answer any more phone calls from Danish, her sister said something which suggested that she owed it to her father to help Danish. Hania definitely likes Danish and she is scared of acknowledging her true feelings for him. Danish on the other hand has a really matter of fact attitude towards her. Overall too Danish has turned into a rather unemotional person – completely different from who he was before.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 18 Story Review - The Downfall

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode wasn’t perfect but yet again, this was another episode which left me with so many questions. The preview of the next episode was extremely enticing! Will Danish forgive Mehwish? Will he get married to Hania to get back at Mehwish? Do you want to see Mehwish and Danish back together? Does Mehwish deserve forgiveness? I must say that I want to see Danish happy more than anything else right now. Although, he is doing great financially but he is miserable otherwise which makes me feel for him even now. Not sure if Mehwish deserves sympathy but there were times tonight when I felt for her.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 17 Story Review – What a Surprise

Shehwar’s wife finally made an appearance in this episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho. The producers and the team have managed to set a new precedent by keeping the identity of one of the main characters secret for so many weeks. It must not have been easy keeping such a secret but they definitely did really well! All our guesses were proven wrong but I am so glad that Savera Nadeem will be playing this character. Maham’s entry served as a reality check like no other! I must say however that overall this wasn’t the best episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho. Rumi’s obsession with getting his father married got more screen time than necessary. When exactly did Shehwar decide to marry Mehwish? This development was somewhat abrupt. Shees Sajji Gul is extremely adorable but some of Rumi’s dialogue were once again a little too mature. The change in Danish’s character has been interesting. In tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho he actually seemed to be enjoying his new found wealth! Some of the developments tonight were a little too predictable. This episode mainly banked on the last scene and even though it wasn’t the best episode but once again Mere Pass Tum Ho most certainly gave the viewers a big reason to look forward to the next episode.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 17 Story Review - What a Surprise

Danish, Hania and Rumi

Tonight’s episode opened with Danish treating himself to some expensive food but he ended up leaving the restaurant without even tasting the food. I truly felt for him – he decided to go to an expensive place for the first time and Mehwish ruined that too ;) His scenes and conversations with Hania were quite interesting since he didn’t show any interest in her at all. It seemed like Hania was attracted towards him but she didn’t want to admit it. Hania’s dialogues tonight made her sound like a really judgmental person once again. Hania’s scenes revolved around Danish and Rumi both. Even the conversations she had with her sister were about Danish. The fact that Danish decided to leave after Mehwish and Shehwar came to the restaurant showed that he still had feelings for Mehwish. Later on, he also wished her well.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 17 Story Review - What a Surprise

Seems like Danish is not angry any more but at the same time he is working on his future. Whether he wants to take revenge or not, remains to be seen but for now he was shown enjoying his wealth. Danish in some way is a different person altogether – he is no longer afraid of making big decisions. He is like a man who has nothing to lose but at the same time there are certain aspects of his personality which are still the same. He is back to being the responsible and loving father. Rumi’s scenes with Danish were sweet but the conversations revolving around marriage were extremely repetitive. The way Danish’s status has changed overnight is quite filmi – the house, the car, the chef and a brand new attitude!

Rumi’s reaction when he found out that his father was now a rich man was cute. He couldn’t believe that they could afford to buy so many things and enjoyed everything like any kid would. I couldn’t help but wonder how happy Mehwish would have been if Danish acquired all this wealth while he was still married to her! Ironically, her decision to leave him was ultimately the driving force behind Danish acquiring all this wealth.

Mehwish, Shehwar and Anoushey

Shehwar had no plans to marry Mehwish until last week but in this episode all of a sudden the date for the nikkah had been finalized. Until last week, Shehwar was too worried about his business to think about tying the knot with Mehwish. His wife had been calling as well last week which basically suggested that she knew that there was a woman living in her house. Shehwar knew that therefore it made absolutely no sense that a person who wanted Mehwish as a mehbooba was now willing to marry her. So many of the dialogues in the previous few episodes clearly suggested that Shehwar had no plans to marry Mehwish so if now he had changed his plans, the viewers should have been shown when and why he decided to get married to Mehwish.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 17 Story Review - What a Surprise

Mehwish’s scenes tonight were the best because through them the director showed so aptly just how confident Mehwish was. The viewers once again got to see the change in Mehwish’s personality through Anoushey’s eyes. The scene in Mehwish’s room when she was getting ready for the nikkah was superb. Ayeza Khan’s expressions showed how victorious Mehwish felt, Anoushey’s jealousy was crystal clear and the way Maham made her entry was a complete surprise! Did Anoushey call Maham? Did the housekeeper warn her? Or did she herself guess what Shehwar was up to? Mehwish’s conversation with Anoushey in the restaurant revealed that the business and the house belonged to Maham – that did not come as a surprise at all. Watching Anoushey defend Danish was amusing since when Mehwish was with Danish, she was constantly criticizing him!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 17 Story Review - What a Surprise

Final Remarks

Savera Nadeem’s entry was the highlight of this episode – a brilliant surprise, definitely worth the wait! This episode laid the foundations for what is coming ahead. Mehwish will definitely get a lot more reality checks in the upcoming weeks and there will be endless business opportunities for Danish. The tables have turned for sure! It remains to be seen where Mehwish will go once Shehwar leaves her. What does the future hold for Danish?

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 16 Story Review – Major Character Development

Mere Pass Tum Ho never fails to surprise and entice. The changes in different characters and the way these changes were received by those around them made this episode an interesting one. The most enjoyable part of this episode was the way Danish was completely in control – the last scene and his dialogues superseded everything else we have heard and seen in Mere Pass Tum Ho so far. This had to be one of the best scenes yet since it showed a major shift in personality and attitude. Humayun Saeed has been beyond exceptional as Danish! Now, it is easy to understand why he overdid the bongapan in the first few episodes. The timing of this scene and the direction too couldn’t have been better.

The camerawork in Mere Pass Tum Ho has been exceptional throughout. Mehwish’s baffling reactions and Shehwar’s changed personality was also interesting to watch! A lot has changed in one week but it has also been a gradual process. Everything has fallen in place for Danish and Mehwish’s life will take a turn for the worse soon. Reality checks and surprises made this episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho entertaining. Tonight’s episode could have been more fast-paced if some of Rumi’s dialogues were chopped down. Few of these dialogues like last week sounded a bit mature for a 6 year old kid and those conversations about shadi were not very interesting. Hira Mani’s saree in the first scene didn’t go well with her character at all – after all she is a responsible teacher ;)

Danish Is In Control

Danish is done crying and he is no longer scared of making big decisions. The changes in his character was pretty evident from the confrontation he had with Shehwar last week. Everything we saw tonight was a step forward. Danish doesn’t only want to be rich but he also wants to be a stakeholder in Shehwar’s business. The conversations at the restaurant helped him understand what was going on in the firm; this scene and scenario seemed like one from a Hollywood film. Danish’s confidence and focused approach stood out more than any other. His conversations with Rumi were cute but in this episode some of Rumi’s scenes did not add much to the story. This track of Rumi wanting his father to get married to his favorite teacher is definitely clichéd.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 16 Story Review - Major Character Development

Danish’s meeting with Salman (Furqan Qureshi) was interesting. Furqan Qureshi acted really well in these scenes, his dialogue delivery in particular was quite impressive considering that sometimes Khalil-ur-Rehman’s dialogues can be tricky. Humayun Saeed completely owns his character. The change in Danish’s personality had to be the most satisfying element of this episode. He even had the confidence to tell Salman why Mehwish left him! There were so many scenes tonight which were quite unlike Danish which clearly translated the changes in his character.

Shehwar Is Confused

The viewers got to see a completely different side of Shehwar’s character as well. The flashback scene clearly suggested that Shehwar was scared that Danish might reveal his ‘secret’. All of this is happening at a time when his company is also going in loss and he has intense pressure therefore he does not want more trouble. For the first time Shehwar was not in control and he was clearly worried. Mehwish showed her dark side yet again when she literally asked Shehwar to get Danish killed. Mehwish’s confusion was translated on screen so well by Ayeza Khan. She couldn’t believe that Shehwar was asking her to show flexibility. While Shehwar kept on telling her that he was being flexible because he was looking out for her – he was actually worried about his own reputation, future and perhaps his wife too! The phone calls from USA and the preview of the next episode clearly suggested that Shehwar’s wife will make an entry in the drama some time soon!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 16 Story Review - Major Character Development

Final Remarks

While Danish and Shehwar’s scenes were the highlight of this episode since they were written and acted-out so well, Hania’s scenes in this episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho were not interesting at all. Some of Rumi’s scenes could easily pass as filler scenes as well. The director Nadeem Baig deserves tons of praise for directing another episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho in the most appealing manner possible. The story has definitely moved to the next phase. Danish’s sufferings are clearly over, the tables have turned and the preview of the next episode suggested another major shift in the story. The story is more thrilling now then it ever was. Adnan Siddiqui was just as convincing as the confused and scared person tonight as he was when Shehwar was totally in control. Humayun Saeed fits this present side of Danish’s character just as much as he did when we watched him cry and beg Mehwish to stay. Looking forward to the next episode already!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 15 Story Review – The Tables Turn

This was a powerful, satisfying and emotional episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho, perfectly put together by the entire team. It had the sweetest (Rumi and Danish) and the most gratifying (Shahwar and Danish) scenes to its credit. The dialogue ‘Samjo tu yahan se ghr torne ke jurm ki saza shru hoti hei’ was the most meaningful dialogue tonight. Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho also showed that Danish’s weakness turned into his strength when Rumi made him realize that he was banking on him! No more Mr. nice guy would be the best way to explain the change in Danish’s personality tonight. His reactions, the dialogues and that one conversation with Rumi on the phone basically summed up everything Danish was till date and what he wanted to be now. The child star playing Rumi is absolutely adorable and the director Nadeem Baig deserves due credit for capturing his beautiful expressions. Even though some of the things Danish said to Rumi, made me wonder why he was sharing such details with such a young kid but Rumi’s innocence outshone everything else.

Rumi Makes a Decision

Tonight’s episode opened with a confident Mehwish asking the headmistress to see her son. She obviously did not expect such a reaction from Rumi. Rumi’s conversation with Hania was penned down so well since it showed that although he missed his mother, he was not willing to forgive her. Rumi’s anger was the perfect way of showing what this child must have gone through when his mother disappeared all of a sudden. All the scenes tonight covering Rumi’s state of mind were the highlight of this episode. Watching him cry at night but acting like he was really strong during the day basically showed this child had so much to deal with at such a young age. While he made up his mind that he was not going to forgive his mother, he was willing to go along with his father’s wishes as well. The smile on Rumi’s face when Danish told him he was going to fight for him was priceless.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 15 Story Review - The Tables Turn

Mehwish and Hania’s confrontation was interesting. Mehwish’s shock and shaken confidence was translated well on screen by Ayeza Khan. Hania isn’t that bold or fearless after all, she was clearly confused and slightly scared when Mehwish told her off. This side of her personality was actually interesting to watch. The headmistress stepping in, made this scene so realistic. Later on, Hania too in a way urged Danish to take a stand for his son.

Danish Is No Longer Scared

The most important question ‘why did Danish treat Shahwar with so much respect’ was answered in the most apt manner tonight. All this time, he was ‘scared’ of Shahwar because he was rich and powerful. For the longest time, the viewers watched Danish call Shahwar ‘sahab’ and he never told him off and the viewers wondered why. Well, we found out today that he was always terrified of the repercussions and he always thought about the consequences. While he was quick to give Monty a piece of his mind, he never had a similar confrontation with Shahwar until today. Danish has always been shown as the ‘nice guy’ – a man who would try his best to avoid conflict. The conversation at the place he usually has his food definitely added to the change in him. Was it that listening to people talk about his personal life like that made him see things differently? Was it because he got the hint that Shahwar never got married to Mehwish? Did it make him realize what a coward he had been? Or was it the fact that no longer ‘feared’ Shahwar after listening to his own employees talk about him in that manner? Or maybe it was just anger. Even though he already had that conversation with Rumi but the way he told the guard about the divorce and called Rumi immediately clearly showed that the scene at the restaurant was the turning point for him.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 15 Story Review - The Tables Turn

Instead of playing it cool and thinking about things long before taking any action, Danish instantly decided to take things in his own hands after that. The thappar even then came as a complete surprise – definitely a pleasant one and Shahwar’s shocking expressions were extremely gratifying to watch. He deserved the slap and everything else. This scene obviously reminded me of their first meeting, when Shahwar made him wait and later on made him listen to that conversation! This time Danish was in no mood to wait or listen to what Shahwar had to say. It remains to be seen now how Shehwar will react. Everything happened so quickly and Danish’s entire body language was so confrontational that no one really got a chance to do anything. It was however strange that Shahwar did not even lift a finger, why? So far, we have seen a side of his personality which clearly showed that he does not take no for an answer and he knows how to get what he wants but why wouldn’t he hit Danish back in such a situation? Danish is no longer the heart broken and dejected lover but he is now a father who will do anything it takes to protect his son. This is going to be really interesting! Humayun Saeed and Adnan Siddiqui both gave outstanding performances once again tonight.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 15 Story Review - The Tables Turn

Final Remarks

Well, team Mere Pass Tum Ho sure knows how to keep the viewers completely hooked. Beautiful dialogues, superb performances coupled with Nadeem Baig’s phenomenal direction make every episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho a must watch. Although the change in Danish was the most important development tonight but little Rumi was the star of the show. His scenes were an absolute delight to watch. The preview of the next episode seemed interesting. Is Shahwar losing his grip? Will we see another side of his personality? What is next for Mehwish? Mehwish had so much faith that Shahwar will win this fight for him but it seems like he will probably not be too eager to pursue it. Is he scared of a scandal? Waiting to find out.

This episode had so many interesting conversations, many of which I mentioned in the review. Another one which definitely deserves a mention here was the one between Hania and her sister, the balaa dialogue was remarkable.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 14 Story Review – Going Strong

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho for the most part was convincing and this was definitely another interesting episode of a drama which continues to be engaging. This was the first episode in which Ayeza Khan completely stole the show with her brilliant performance. Ayeza Khan’s body language and expressions throughout covered her confidence as well as her insecurities perfectly well on screen. She is definitely not the same person she was before, Mehwish seemed to be more in control and interestingly enough looked a lot like Shahwar today! Having said that there were moments when she was seriously disturbed when things were not in her control. Spending 3 months with a man who is used to having his own way has molded Mehwish’s personality. At the same time the changes in Danish’s character were subtly visible too. Hania’s character tonight was much more likable. Apart from the confusion surrounding the mobiles in this episode and a timeline which continues to confuse, Mere Pass Tum Ho never fails to impress. The director Nadeem Baig deserves an award for paying great attention to detail and the camerawork in this drama has been beyond amazing.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 14 Story Review - Going Strong

Hania and Danish

Hania got to know a lot about Danish by reading her father’s diary and also because of the phone calls. While it was believable that Hania did not immediately realize that this wasn’t her father’s phone, it was hard to believe that Danish made a phone call without realizing that he wasn’t using his own phone. Mehwish’s chance telephonic conversation with Hania was the perfect way to introduce these characters to each other. This introduction was especially apt considering that Hania was also Rumi’s teacher and these two were bound to interact later on too. Hania was much more likable tonight and her conversation with Danish was covered convincingly. There were some light moments and emotional ones but when Hania commented on Mehwish, Danish completely ignored her comment. I am glad Danish did not open up and decided not to respond since he has never talked to anyone except Mateen sb about Mehwish or his personal life. This conversation showed how close Hania was to Rumi and after reading her father’s diary she was more keen than ever to help Rumi adjust in school. The chai comment was an emotional addition to this scene.

Hania comes across as a sensitive and intelligent young lady who is not afraid of speaking her mind. Apart from Mateen sb’s daughters, Danish is the only person most affected by his demise. Danish’s state of mind reminded me of the scenes in the first few episodes when he had just realized that Shahwar was taking interest in Mehwish. The deal of the apartment was slightly delayed because of this loss and therefore it remains to be seen how this plans goes forward from here on. Hira Mani’s dialogue delivery especially when she was talking to Danish was quite impressive. Humayun Saeed looked like someone who was going through hell and his acting was right on point, like always.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 14 Story Review - Going Strong

A whole month has passed since Danish met Rumi although it surely didn’t seem like it. The timeline in this drama has been confusing right from the beginning therefore sometimes it is difficult to relate to this time lapse.

Shahwar and Mehwish

Shahwar and Mehwish’s scenes were quite meaningful tonight. These scenes made it clear what Shahwar expected from Mehwish. The writer did a great job of utilizing each one of these scenes to show a different side of Shahwar’s personality. On the other hand he told Mehwish that she did not need to ask him before doing anything she wanted to do and on the other hand he told her he wanted her undivided attention. Shahwar is still as ‘fascinated’ by Mehwish as he was the first time he met her but he has no intention of marrying her. His dialogues tonight made it quite clear that Mehwish was his ‘mehbooba’ and he wanted things to stay that way. This obviously means that she will never be his wife and he won’t allow her to be Rumi’s mother. Adnan Siddiqui once again gave an outstanding performance throughout.

Mehwish and Shahwar’s first conversation on the breakfast table had some meaningful dialogues too. Mehwish actually defended Danish and assured Shahwar that he would never turn her son against her – this was really interesting! Shahwar did not get ‘jealous’ when he heard that, he found Mehwish’s remarks amusing and did not even stop Mehwish from meeting Danish, a development which showed he wasn’t the least bit insecure! It was funny hearing Shahwar call Danish ‘2 takay ke log’. Mehwish never asked Danish before stepping out of the house and whenever he tried to control her she used to get really annoyed but tonight she was continuously seen seeking Shahwar’s approval.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 14 Story Review - Going Strong

The scene covering the stock exchange rates was interesting and it made me wonder if Danish will take advantage of this opportunity. Although it is quite early for anything like that but you never know! The preview of the next episode suggested that Danish might be in a bargaining position after all. I absolutely loved Mehwish’s meeting with the principal, it was written and executed so realistically. Mehwish’s expressions when the principal refused to give her the permission to take Rumi with her showed just how offended she felt knowing she needed Danish’s permission. The guard knew perfectly well that Mehwish was waiting for Danish in the car yet he told Monty that it was some lady, this was one conversation which was difficult to relate to.

Final Remarks

Tonight’s episode of Mere Pass Tum Ho was definitely engaging and well-put-together. The performances never fail to impress since every actor completely owns the character he or she is playing. Nadeem Baig’s direction has been impeccable and Khalil-ur-Rehman’s script continues to be interesting. The preview of the next episode suggested that Rumi will push his father to be strong – looking forward to that!

I am wondering if Anoushey Abbasi will be playing Mehwish’s sister’s role!

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 13 Story Review – The Aftermath

Mere Pass Tum Ho’s screenplay and its direction is turning out to be the best element of this drama. Nadeem Baig deserves tons of credit for directing some of the scenes in this episode in such a manner that they had an element of suspense about them. This episode was not as emotional as the previous one but it showed character growth and had some important developments to its credit. I am certain most of the viewers like me were waiting to see Mehwish more than Danish since everyone must have been curious to find out how her life was after ‘marriage’! I mentioned this in my previous review as well that Mehwish did not for a second think about the fact that Shahwar never talked about marriage. It was actually quite apparent that he had no intention of marrying her but Mehwish was so keen on being with him that she never thought on these lines. Danish’s character completely changed in this episode and I must say that it was quite unsettling to watch him turn into a different person altogether.

Rumi and Danish

The scene between Rumi and Danish was one of the most meaningful scenes in this episode. Danish’s body language and his conversation with Rumi showed how much he had changed. This was the same father who treasured the time he spent with his son but now he did not even get up to hug him even though they were meeting after weeks or perhaps months. Danish’s conversation with Mateen sahib summed up how much Rumi had changed in these few months in the absence of his mother. I found this depiction close to reality since kids sometimes suffer more than anyone else when a marriage falls apart. In this case, Mehwish abandoned Rumi and Danish clearly was no longer emotionally available for him therefore like any other young kid his age, he decided to choose a path which would allow him to be away from people who obviously let him down.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 13 Story Review - The Aftermath

It was sad watching a father expect so much from a child who deserved nothing but love. If Mehwish failed as a mother then Danish too has not been able to play the role he should have played in Rumi’s life. This scene showed how much resentment Rumi felt and at the same time he did not want to disappoint his father. The dialogues regarding how he would prove to be the son Danish could take pride in were a bit hard to digest coming from a 7 year old. The child star playing Rumi acted exceptionally well in this scene.

Danish and Mateen sahib

Danish and Mateen sahib’s friendship was the highlight of this episode. Some of their conversations were a little bit long but in the end when Mateen sahib passed away these conversations made perfect sense since these were the last few interactions they were going to have together. Whatever Mateen sahib said to Danish sounded like all those questions and thoughts that would have been in the mind of the viewers watching the episode. Through their first conversation, the writer conveyed how things had changed in these past few months. I am glad the story started few months after Mehwish left because otherwise the pace of the drama would have slowed down.

Mere Pass Tum Ho Episode 13 Story Review - The Aftermath

Danish’s dialogue about how a man felt when the woman he loved was faithful to him and how he felt when that woman was no longer loyal to him has to be the best way to sum up the change in his character. Until the previous episode money meant nothing to Danish but now he is more than willing to sell his apartment and take risks in order to get rich. His bigger aim could be taking revenge from Shahwar. The viewers saw a completely different side of Danish, he wants to get rich but he is also being smart about it. He is not in a rush and is waiting to get the best price for his apartment.

Muhammad Ahmed acted exceptionally well in the scene covering Mateen sahib’s life story. I couldn’t help but wonder why he never mentioned that he had a daughter. It took him quite a while to reveal details about his personal life to Danish and when he did, he didn’t have time to tell more. The regret and the guilt he felt was apparent from this scene.

Enter Hania – Hira Mani

Many people had already predicted that Hania was going to be Rumi’s teacher and Mateeb sahib’s daughter therefore there were no surprises there. The introduction to this character was quite short and the manner in which Hania ‘judged’ Danish’s decision to put Rumi in boarding was confusing. Why have a boarding for kids Rumi’s age if you are going to judge their parents for putting them there?! Danish and Hania met outside the school in the end but not in the best circumstances. Waiting to see how these two interact in the upcoming episodes.

Shahwar and Mehwish

Mehwish and Shahwar were shown having a grand time. All these months they had been travelling and enjoying themselves. Their conversation revealed that they had not been married and Shahwar had no plans to get married either. His take on relationships didn’t come as a surprise since he never talked about marriage even before. It also wasn’t surprising that Mehwish was willing to go along with Shahwar’s decisions since she was completely smitten by Shahwar’s lifestyle and personality even before too and found it hard to say no! Mehwish has always come across as a naive woman. The only man she was ever with was Danish therefore she clearly has no clue that there are men who would shower a woman with praises and money but will not give her the kind of commitment she wants. Mehwish and Shahwar’s scene was short but it made their relationship status quite clear.

Final Remarks

I must say that this episode was not as powerful as some of the previous episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho but it laid down the foundations for what is coming ahead. The changes in Danish’s personality will change the course of his life and I am glad Rumi was given so much screen time. Although Danish’s main concern right now is making money but most of his conversations revolved around Rumi. Mateen sahib was an interesting character who helped Danish in his most difficult times by lending an ear, he will be missed. Muhammad Ahmed’s performance tonight was remarkable. Shamim Hilali also performed really well in this episode and made her presence felt.

I was watching the first few episodes of Mere Pass Tum Ho again this week and I must commend the actors for changing their looks in such a manner that you actually feel like they have ‘grown’. Especially the difficult times Danish has gone through show on his face, as if he has aged! Humayun Saeed looked completely different in the first few episodes with a clean shave and shorter hair. Ayeza Khan too has changed her looks with time.

The preview of the next episode was intense, looking forward to it.
