Banned films of 2015

2015 has been a remarkable year for film business in Pakistan. Hollywood, Bollywood as well as local Pakistani films have earned quite well this year. While there were films which made headlines due to their subjects and business, there were plenty of films which were the lead stories when they were banned for one reason or the other.

This article is a compilation of all such films of 2015 comprising of Bollywood and local Pakistani films. Interestingly most of the Bollywood films banned in Pakistan also failed to earn big in India. Also the reason for ban on all the Indian Bollywood films was same i.e. their anti-Pakistan or anti-Islam content, still it has not impacted the business of other Bollywood films allowed screening in Pakistan.

Baby
Bollywood’s Baby was due to release on 23rd January 2015. The film has veteran Pakistani artist Rasheed Naaz as well as Mikaal Zulfiqar in the supporting roles. The film made headlines when it was denied the censor certificate by the Sindh Board for Films Certificate (SBFC). SBFC refused the censor certificate due to its allegedly anti-Pakistan subject and theme. After the refusal of SBFC, the film was not presented before the other two censor boards of Pakistan i.e. Central Borad for Films Certificate (CBFC) and Punjab Board for Films Certificate (PBFC).On social media Rasheed Naaz and Mikaal Zulfiqar both were criticized as well for working in this film.

Honour Killing
A British-Indian film Honour Killing was due to relase on 27th February 2015. Pakisani artists Zara Sheikh and Javed Sheikh played important roles in this film. Honour Killing was issued the censor certificate by SBFC, however it made headlines when presented before the CBFC. The CBFC refused to issue the censor certificate calling it an anti Pakistan film as well as revoked the censor certificate of SBFC.

Welcome to Karachi
A Bollywood film released in May 2015. The film created uproar when its trailer was released in April 2015. It also has Pakistani artists Ayub Khoso and Adnan Shah Tipu in the negative roles. The trailer of the film resulted in its negative image in Pakistan and eventually no Pakistani distributor bought this film for release in Pakistan.

Bangistan
Due to release on 7th August 2015, the CBFC issued a negative statement against the film after seeing its trailer on social media. Due to the statement made by CBFC, the distributors of the film cancelled their plans by not presenting it before the censor board.

Phantom
Based on the Mumbai attacks, Phantom was not intended to release in Pakistan. However it gained fame when Hafiz Saeed the leader of Jammatul Dawwa filed a pre-emtive petition in the Lahore High Court to halt its expected release. The petition of Hafiz Saeed (who is accused of Mumbai attacks by India) made headlines in Indian as well as Pakistani media and dragged many politicians in the debate too. Phantom was not presented before any censor board in Pakistan, but was banned by Lahore High Court on the petition of Hafiz Saeed.

Phantom was not the first film of Indian director Kabir Khan banned in Pakistan. Before Phantom, Kabir Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger in 2013 was also banned. Interestingly Bajrangi Bhaijan also directed by Kabir Khan is so far the highest earning Bollywood film of 2015 in Pakistan.

Abdullah The Final Witness
A local Urdu film produced in Quetta, Balochistan, this film is based on the Kharotabad event of 2011, in which five russian and tajik citizen were killed by a security agency. The film was screened at the Cannes Film Festival 2015. But when presented in CBFC in June 2015 to release in Pakistan, it was returned with many objections. The film is still stuck in CBFC despite few cuts made by the producer Hashim Nadeem. The CBFC has objection on the portrayal of a security agency in this film.

Swaarangi
Swaarangi was due to release on 29th August 2015, but it became a victim of the inconsistent censor policy of different censor boards of Pakistan. Swaarangi got censor certificates from SBFC and PBFC without any cuts, but stuck in CBFC. The CBFC termed Swaarangi as an effort to undermine Pakistan. Swaarangi was based on drug addiction and its consequences. In the end Swaarangi was released only in Sindh and Punjab on 11th September 2015.

Bajirao Mastani
Bollywood’s Bajirao Mastani is also another film which became a victim of the inconsisten censor policy of different censor boards. It was cleared by PBFC and SBFC without any major cut but was stuck in the CBFC. Eventually CBFC also issued the censor certificate after reviewing it multiple times. So Bajirao Mastani is released in the whole Pakistan on 18th December 2015. Though tt is not banned in Pakistan, but the late decision of the CBFC resulted in the rumors of its banning.

http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x2yzf7w_bajirao-mastani-official-teaser-trailer-ranveer-singh-deepika-padukone-priyanka-chopra_shortfilms

2015 is the year where perhaps the number of films banned or stuck temporarily in the censor boards is the highest. Though the three censor boards currently operating in Pakistan follow the same censor code, but their inconsistent decision making with respect to films like Honour Killing, Swaarangi and Bajirao Mastani raised many questions about the qualification of the members of various censor boards. A comparative study carried out by an English daily revealed that while the majority of the members of PBFC and SBFC are mostly former artists the majority of the members of CBFC consists of retired bureaucrats and army officers. The inconsistent decision making of these censor boards might attribute to their members, who belong to different walks of life and thus their approach towards issuing a censor certificate to a film varies to a huge extent.

Have a look at the video link:

Areej said that the supernatural activity happened on the very first day with her and Shuja. Shuja then told the whole incident, he said, “First day, when we both came on the set we faced a supernatural incident like we had a shelf attached with the wall, there was a pot with flowers and a few books over the shelf, me and Areej were just watching the shelf when the pot fell down on its own, the books also fell down, obviously, if we are doing the drama on supernatural existences so they will naturally shoe their existence to us”, Areej also said that she was super scary while doing shooting of her death scene in the drama and it gave her immense pressure while being on the set of horror drama. Ban on Indian Dramas lifted, Pakistanis not Happy!

After the Uri attacks on Oct 19, 2011 a ban was imposed on Indian Dramas from airing on Pakistani TV channels. It wasn’t well received by people who were addicted to dramas like “Tulsi” and “Parvati” but they soon got over it when they gave our local series a chance and found them out to be much better than the Indian. One of the major reasons our drama industry has flourished so much in the last decade is because of this.

All good things come to an end, and so has this ban.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has now lifted this ban declaring it null and void as the Federal government had no objections to the Indian content being shown in the country.

A petition to overturn PEMRA’s decision was held by M/s Leo Communications which is the parent company for Filmazia. They claimed that the government was indulging in “selective patriotism” due to Bollywood films allowed in cinemas but not on television.

According to Chief Justice Mansoor Ali Shah,

The world has become a global village

Ban on ‘Verna’ Infuriates Women’s Rights Groups

0

Shoaib Mansoor’s Verna has been talk of the town ever since it’s filming started and it’s in the headlines again but not for the reasons we’d like it to be for, the film was banned by The Censor Board a couple of days ago almost five days before it was set to release on November the 17th.

The fans are outraged and so are women’s rights groups including Pakistan Nari Tehreek which is a network of over one hundred grass roots women organisations, hence the organisation filed a petition against the ban.

Ban on 'Verna' Infuriates Women's Rights Groups

The petition reads,

“The incident in D I Khan of stripping a woman naked and frequent incidents of rape are alarming, and it is appalling to see such decisions being made regarding a film which addresses the ill of our society and the gaps in the system,”

It further said,

It is known to us that the Lahore and Karachi Censor Boards have passed it but still await the final decision from Islamabad. The full Film Censor Board is due to revisit and review the film and we hope the board members will realise the importance of Shoaib Mansoor’s work and the awareness he has created regarding the heinous crimes against women.”

Ban on 'Verna' Infuriates Women's Rights Groups

Moreover the petition adds,

“Verna is also pro-democracy and will take the society forward. As far as we are concerned, the film belongs to the women of Pakistan and it needs to be shown to all, inside and outside Pakistan.”

The petition was signed by representatives of the core members of Nari Tehreek including Mukhtaran Mai, Maliha Husain, Bushra Khaliq, Anbreen Ajaib, Aqeela Naz, Shad Begum, Gulalai Ismail, Aasia Mughal, Sidra Humayun, Shazia George, Irum Fatima, Sana Malik.

This isn’t the first time The Censor Board in Islamabad is being criticised for banning a feature film, it has quite a reputation for that.

Ban lifted on screening new Indian films in cinemas

After a ban of nearly two weeks, the federal government has reverted its decision and allowed screening of new indian films in local cinemas. While the matter is still subdues in court, commerce ministry has issued Non Objection Certificate (NOC) to four indian films namely ‘Hassi To Phassi’, ‘Ghunday’, ‘Highway’ and ‘Total Sayapa’ which has paved the way for release of these four films.

The ban on Indian films has severely affected the cinema owners who were running shows with empty halls. Cinema owners and film distributors have welcomed the decision by federal government.

Ban Doraemon demands PTI

In a rather startling move, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf on Wednesday submitted a first of its kind resolution in the Punjab Assembly calling for a ban on famous Japanese anime series Doraemon.

PTI legislator Malik Taimoor Masood urged Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) to impose a ban on Doraemon or limit its airtime as it contains explicit content which has a bad impact on children.

The legislator argued that 24-hour cartoon channels are adversely affecting the educational and physical growth of children. The resolution also claims the language used in cartoons run on channels is damaging societal norms. The resolution will be discussed in the next PA session.

Doraemon is a Japanese manga series and is dubbed in Hindi for viewers in Pakistan and India. The anime series revolves around a robotic cat named Doraemon and a young boy Nobita. It is aired on various cartoon channels.

Here’s how people reacted to the news:

DM

The move comes after Ashish Chaturvedi, the whistleblower of India’s biggest education scam, voiced concerns against two of the world’s most famous Japanese cartoon characters – Doraemon and Shin Chan. Chatuvardi feels the adverse psychological impacts of the two Hindi and English dubbed ‘violent’ cartoons are grappling a whole generation of kids across India and the world, according to the Times of India.

Chaturvedi is seeking a ban on the telecast of the two Japanese cartoons as he claims several medial reports highlight mental abuse and other serious adverse impact of these cartoons on kids.

Further, in 2014, Chinese newspapers cautioned their countrymen against Doraemon saying, Beware of this “blue fatty” — the Japanese are exporting their values through him. According to The New York Times, three major newspapers in Chengdu, the capital of Sichuan Province, fired accusations against Doraemon for its “political overtones” and being a tool of Japan’s “cultural invasion.”

Japan’s former foreign minister, Masahiko Komura, appointed Doraemon an “anime ambassador” in 2008 in the hope that the character would deepen the world’s understanding of the country.

Balu Mahi, first teaser is out

Balu Mahi (بلو ماہی) is an upcoming film scheduled to release on the Valentines Day weekend, Friday 10th February 2017.

It is the first film of the director Haissam Hussain who has many successful and acclaimed dramas to his name like Dastaan, Akbari Asghari, Aunn Zara,  Aik Nayee Cinderella, Durr-e-Shahwar. Haissam Hussain’s actual first film was Bin Roye (2015) which he left after filming few scenes due to the differenes with its producer. His name was not given as director on the film Bin Roye so Balu Mahi is the first official film of Haissam Hussain.

Balu Mahi is also the first film of Saadia Jabbar as a producer. Saadia has also produced some famous and acclaimed dramas like Mera Naam Yousaf Hai. Most of the dramas produced by Saadia are aired on APlus.

Balu Mahi stars Usman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jaffri and Sadaf Kanwal in the lead roles. Sadaf Kanwal the famous model is doing film debut. It is the second film of Ainy Jaffri after Mein Hoon Shahid Afridi in 2013. Usman Khalid Butt who earlier did a cameo in Janaan (2016) is also appearing in the leading role for the very first time.

The teaser of the film is released today, which is a song by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan also shot on him. So it is perhaps the first Pakistani film where Rahat Fateh Ali Khan has done a cameo.

The teaser of  ‘Balu Mahi’ was recently released and it opened to mixed reviews. Fans of the leads were quite excited watching the teaser since it had lots of elements to offer but the critics think Bollywood film seemed like an inspiration to the makers of Balu Mahi.

The teaser and the motion poster was said to be having resemblance with those of Sanjay Leela Bhansali Films. And much like most of the critics, we felt that too but the leads of the film thinks otherwise. According to the leads the movie is based on our culture and is miles apart from anything that exists in an Indian movie.

Talking to HIP, one of the most favorite actors, Osman Khalid Butt, felt that the comparison may have been complimentary but no imitation had been done.

“The comparison is a compliment, but this is the style of the director Haissam Hussain. He is a visionary and he has shot the movie using open frames. Pause the teaser anywhere and you will see that each frame looks like a painting. Maybe that’s how people drew comparisons,” Osman said.

Assuring HIP that Balu Mahi is unique in its own way, he explained,

“The story is for our society and has a message of women empowerment. It’s not influenced by Bollywood story wise.”

Ainy Jaffri, who was disappointed about her upcoming movie being called a copy, also explained that though the comparison is a huge compliment since millionaires fund a Bhansali film, Balu Mahi isn’t based on any other movie.

“We didn’t realize the posters were similar till people started pointing it out,” she revealed. “The fact is, we share the same history with India, our culture, music, and weddings are similar too. Hence, our movies end up appearing the same, and this is the first films in years that look as good as a Bollywood film aesthetically. Even if the song reminds you of Bhansali’s films, the rest of the story has nothing to do with his movies,” she stated.

Speaking on his character in the movie, Osman shared with HIP,

“Bilal is a man on a mission. He has come back from England and he is driven, that is until his world falls apart,” he explained, “When he meets Mahi, he is drawn to her exuberance and optimism. Because of her he begins to see life in a different way.”

Shedding light on her role, Ainy shared,

“Mahi is an independent, fierce and passionate girl of today. Her character resonates with a lot of young girls from Pakistan who want to carve their own future,” she explained.

According to her, Mahi will be a role model to many women and will motivate them to break out of the chains of society.

“She respects her traditions and culture but doesn’t just follow norms that she feels are not right, further revealed Ainy. “The movie is her journey of self discovery and brings her closer to the goals she wants to achieve,” she concluded.

When asked how the audience will react once the movie is released, both the lead actors remained nervous yet hopeful, and interestingly, not cocky at all. After all, it’s our down-to-earth stars that make us fall in love with them.

“I’m nervous since it’s my first movie and my character was quite challenging, hence I put in a lot of hard work to get the role right. I am grateful to be chosen for such a fresh film.” Like us, he also feels that Ainy Jaffri and her beauty in this movie will pull audiences towards the cinemas, “Ainy has done a magnificent job and people will go to the cinemas to watch her,” the actor stated.

Ainy Jaffri, who believes that her hard work must be reciprocated by fans also said,

“I can’t predict how they will react to the movie but I hope the audience recognizes our hard work and the movie ends up doing well. One thing I know for sure is, that people will go to watch this visually striking masterpiece. And there will be a lot of surprises and twists in store for them,” concluded Ainy Jaffri.

Balu Mahi Film Review

Dialogues: Saad Azhar
Produced By: Sadia Jabbar – Chaudhry M. Arshad
Cast: Osman Khalid Butt, Ainy Jaffri Rehman, Sadaf Kanwal, Mustafa Ali Khan, Asal Din Khan, Durdana Butt, Abid Kashmiri, Javed Sheikh, Shafqat Cheema, Khurram Pataras, Adeel Hashmi and others.

I am going to be honest, I did not expect anything grand from this film mainly because of the fact that it isn’t always easy making an exceptional film when there is nothing novel about the plot but after watching Balu Mahi I am not only pleasantly surprised but also in awe of how much the Balu Mahi team managed to achieve. Balu Mahi pleased the Lahori in me, yes Lahore has never looked better on screen and has probably never been captured so immaculately on the big screen. It also pleased the demanding cinemagoer in me because it proved be a thoroughly entertaining film right from the get-go. Balu Mahi also satisfied the aesthete in me because this film is exceptionally beautiful on so many levels. Most importantly it completely gratified the Pakistani in me; watching Pakistani cinema come this far is something to take pride in. This film goes to show that a visionary director with the right team can create magic on screen – literally!

Balu Mahi Film Review

Balu Mahi’s main plot might not be novel but the screenplay, dialogues and the scenes are definitely brand new. Also, it isn’t just a love story but a film which also has a strong message in the end which is put forward in a subtle yet impactful manner. Balu Mahi is filled with scenes which are shot so beautifully and faultlessly that they look like scenes from an enchanting animation. Each frame is detailed; the background, the lighting, the get up of the leads and their expressions make this film a visual treat. Some of these shots will actually stay with you long after you are done watching this film. Osman Khalid Butt and Ainy Jaffrey Rehman prove that they have what it takes to set the big screen on fire; they are bound to blow you away with their flawless, honest and impressive performances. The sizzling chemistry between the leads and their journey makes you root for them and you sit there waiting for the time when they will finally fall in love with each other.

The director Haissam Hussain succeeded completely in exploring Lahori life, its culture, its landmarks and Pakistan’s beauty in general to the maximum. The best thing about this film is that apart from being extremely enticing, it also has made in Pakistan and proud to be Pakistani written all over it. Balu Mahi is the kind of film which you can watch more than once even though it is slightly stretched in the end and has some toilet humor which wasn’t really needed but overall it is surely going to win you over. It is one of the best films I have watched in recent times. Go watch this film with your friends, it will make you laugh and it will make you cry. Balu Mahi will be just as entertaining even if you watch it alone because it is an absolute paisa wasool film which will keep you glued to your seats even during the intermission!

Balu Mahi Film Review

Osman Khalid Butt does not only have a definite screen presence as Balu but he emotes so well that you forget that he is acting. He makes his character even more attractive because of his faultless performance. Ainy Jaffrey looks beautiful and plays the playful, strong yet sensitive Mahi with precision. A big shout out and special thanks to the person in charge of make up who gave Osman Khalid Butt the perfect look and accentuated Ainy Jaffrey’s natural beauty without going overboard. Sadaf Kanwal wasn’t exactly impressive and she failed to bring out the best in her character. Durdana Butt proved once again that she is a great entertainer and so did Javaid Sheikh.

All the songs in the film are not just beautifully composed and sung but they have also been placed well and shot perfectly. Balu Mahi is a complete entertainer with some of the most endearing performances to its credit. It is the kind of romantic film you fall in love with instantly. I am looking forward to Osman Khalid Butt and Ainy Jaffri’s next film already – the silver screen loves them and so will you! Sadia Jabbar is another person to look out for, all her projects are always impressive. I can’t praise Haissam Hussain enough because at the end of the day it was his brain child and he nailed it!

Go watch Balu Mahi – right now ;)

Balochistan’s First Contemporary Film to hit Cinemas Soon!

Pakistan’s biggest province in terms of area is Balochistan. However, unfortunately it is the most behind in terms of development. The Balochistan film industry is the most neglected industry of all the provinces.

According to the producers the film “Sangat” will be the very first of its kind. It is an upcoming contemporary production of Baloch cinema. The producer Waheed Albushi, further said he and his team is looking forward to revive cinema in the province.

He rightly pointed out the development that is required by the Balochistan film Industry.

Though the Pakistani film industry is undergoing a revival of sorts, the Balochistan film industry has yet to develop as there is a dearth of the filmmakers here.

He further shared his grievances saying that the cinemas are being converted to shopping malls.

In the last few years, four out of the seven cinemas in Quetta have been closed down due to lack of productions.

The movie’s plot revolves around the story of five friends and involves a lot of drama and action sequences.

It was filmed in Oman, and was made with a budget of Rs 3 million.

Albulshi further added that plan to release the film nationwide as well as in Gulf states is under works, and that it will premiere in Balochistan in the “coming weeks”.

The director of the film, Sami Sarang , in an interview to a local news agency, said that he wants to portray a different side of Balochistan through this film. He also shared what he hopes to achieve with this film,

We are hoping to lay down a foundation and build a strong film industry so that the young Baloch talent has a platform to showcase their skills.

The trailer of the film was released last year, but due to some technical difficulties, the release date for delayed:

Another viral child sensation that has gripped the nation is Shiraz of the Shirazi Vlogs fame. Shiraz and Muskan, the brother-sister duo were also invited to Shan e Ramzan and became a part of several shows. Their entry was viral all over and many comments and opinions came forward.

Baloch Child Abu Bakar who is known as Baba Che on TikTok went viral yesterday. What happened was that the young kid was feeling down on not being invited to Shan e Ramzan and complained to Waseem Badami that why is he neglected when all other kids have gotten a chance to visit. Is it because he is from Balochistan, a province that has always been ignored. The emotional video went viral and people felt sad for him.

Balaa Last Episode Story Review – Lame

Opening Thoughts – Lame & Unconvincing Ending:

Ohkay so, last night Balaa came to an end. I did make up my mind that I’d watch the double episode in one go & review it right away but I dozed off in the middle & couldn’t keep my eyes open – shows the amount of patience & interest I was left with for Balaa. Anyways, just like everyone out there, I am also just so glad that it is over but talking about the last episode, to me it was lame & totally unconvincing & I have quite a lot of reasons which made me feel that way!

Reasons:

The drama lasted for 40 episodes & they dedicated 36 episodes to Nigar’s atrocities but when it came to having her taste her own medicine, only 4 episodes were kept for that? It just shows that the writer believed in doing everything that would generate ratings by pushing the negativity to whole new level week after week & when it was time for a proper closure, she made things unrealistically seamless & swift, which made me wonder why didn’t Taimoor display such wisdom & intelligence by cracking his wife’s agendas before? This is another reason which makes me feel that the ending of this drama was lame.

Nigar kept Taimoor occupied & tangled in her lies for so long & Taimoor allowed that to happen but when he made up his mind that he will now give it back to Nigar, everything was served to him in a golden platter. Everyone came one after another to confess their sins & Taimoor started finding out the truth which suggested that if everyone had kept their mouths shut, Taimoor would’ve never ever found out what actually happened & how Nigar was behind everything? Such an unconvincing way of showing the hero victorious by seeking revenge for his mother & sisters’ death whereas in reality, he didn’t do anything himself!

Taimoor made up his mind & started working on his plan of destroying Zafar & Nigar’s life. I was never a fan of Taimoor’s character because for me, he was a weak character who had no brains & no backbone & the last episode proved my point further. Whatever Nigar did with everyone & in the end Shama was in line with her character because she was shown to be a psychopath right from the beginning who had no conscience, no compassion & no regrets for what she used to do but Taimoor was raised by a God-fearing mother who instilled all that was good in him so to actually see him deriving satisfaction while Nigar cut her hair was actually disgusting. Is this what the writer was trying to show? That first you should keep your eyes closed to someone’s atrocities but when you start seeing everything, you should stoop to their level & do much worse than they did. My point is, Nigar was not mentally stable right from the beginning but Taimoor was so to me, he turned out to be a bigger culprit for pushing Nigar to that level where she lost her senses while he stood there like an amused spectator who was having a good time watching the entire circus. Taimoor was mentally stable so for him to see it all happening right in front of his eyes was disturbing. At first despite having brains, he didn’t really use them & when he did, it was only to destroy someone? So I guess it does prove his point that he himself was a Balaa like he said! No, I am not giving Nigar a clean chit at all & to be honest I expected much worse ending than she got but I wanted to see her punishing herself & not getting punished by Taimoor who in my opinion was in no place of doing that because he never once stopped her in the first place so he shouldn’t have been the one who pushed her to that limit in the end!

It is amusing that Taimoor will now get to live a luxurious life with his second wife only because his first wife Nigar loved him so much that she gave him everything that she had, be it her share in family business or her father’s home which was under her ownership too. I thought they’d show that Taimoor made Zafar go bankrupt but in the end they only showed that Zafar was made to leave the house? Zahir hai bhai, our writers can no go into technicalities & intricacies because they don’t have much intelligence as well as time to show all of that. Inhain bas burai aur negativity dikhani ati hai. It is funny that in a drama where the main character was a psychopath, she was never once taken to a psychiatrist. Why can’t our writers show proper solutions? Why is it either black or white? It is unfortunate that Nigar & Taimoor also had a baby together. Poor Saad!

Closing Thoughts – Sigh of Relief:

Well, I am glad that Balaa is over & I have never felt relieved this way before at the end of a drama. I think Fahad Mustafa should realize that apart from distributing bikes & doing Thakki Tikki Tha, he has more responsibilities as a producer & as someone who has a position in the industry to produce better dramas & not craps like these. Zanjabeel Asim Shah should take a break & stop spewing so much of negativity because it eventually comes to bite you back as well. I know it was just a drama but whatever she was trying to show didn’t really make it to our TV screens & just got lost like a lice in Nigar’s wig. Speaking of which, I now get why Ushna Shah was made to wear the wig, it was for this haircut scene in the last episode because other than that I just don’t see any justification behind such a hideous decision. Bilal Abbas Khan should start delivering dialogues properly & stop mumbling because almost in the entire episode he was inaudible & it was hard to understand what he was trying to say. Acting nikalne se pehle hi zubaan aur thook mai roll ho gai, lol. This is something that he should work on. Sajid Hassan’s acting was consistently good. Samina Peerzada was the only good thing about this drama, her persona & grace was mesmerizing in the initial episodes, too bad that Shama later died of a haircut, lol! Chalo, is se pehle ke I start giving it Mujhe Khuda Pe Yakeen Hai & Aahista Aahista treatment, I will end this review now by only saying that for me Balaa turned out to be a sick joke & I am glad it is over. Pour your heart out guys.

Balaa Episode 9 & 10 Story Review – Wedding Fixation

Opening Thoughts:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was alright. I will say that even though I know things & characters are being like this for a reason but I am not too happy about it because everything is a bit too typical & I am not liking the scenario. Yes, the story will progress this way only for Nigar’s real face to come through later & the writer is showcasing the reality with some people being too simple minded & others being too manipulative but still, I wasn’t too impressed with this episode of Balaa.

Developments:

So, Shama came to a conclusion that there was only one way Taimoor’s broken heart could be mended & that was marriage – that too with a girl who loved him. Yes, Shama’s perspective can be deemed right, she wants her son to move on & get distracted from what happened & she thinks Nigar is the right choice but to literally sacrifice her own daughter for that matter is ridiculous. Yes, Shama is simple-minded, she believes in seeing good in people but to literally ignore & forget about the nature & behaviour of people like Zafar is not innocence, it is stupidity. Shama can do all that she wants for Taimoor but to see her pushing the idea of Batool getting married to Junaid was upsetting to say the least. Shama can wish for happiness for Taimoor but she should be wise enough to know that Zafar is a very difficult person to be with so how can she put Batool in such a situation where she’d have to deal with Zafar on a daily basis. Yes, it is good that Shama wants to hold onto her relations & wants her children to do the same but I don’t think any mother is so blind to her children’s wish that she puts someone else’s happiness ahead of her own daughter’s.

Balaa Episode 9 & 10 Story Review - Wedding Fixation

Nigaar continued to weave trap around Shama & Taimoor quite tactfully. With Shama Nigar didn’t have to do much work but she kept on hovering around Taimoor trying to prove her love to him. To be honest, I kind of laughed when I heard Taimoor agreeing to get married to Nigar, like he couldn’t even stand her a few months back & now he acted like aik chai ki maar who just accepted Nigar seeing how keen she was to be a part of his life. Yes, Shama & Zafar’s brainwashing did work too but Taimoor accepted Nigar because he wanted to & because he liked the idea of being with someone who loved him more.

Balaa Episode 9 & 10 Story Review - Wedding Fixation

Junaid created a scene in front of everyone & I was amazed that a God-fearing woman like Shama didn’t deem it odd that Junaid was an alcoholic & in fact she still advocated Junaid in front of Batool saying that he will get over alcohol as its just a phase that he is going through by relying on it to forget about Zeba. Even Saleha thought Junaid’s proposal wasn’t bad & all of this was happening while everyone pretty much saw that Batool did not approve of this & she didn’t like Junaid to begin with. Taimoor did say that he will support Batool’s decision of not getting married to Junaid but I am sure he will succumb to Nigar’s pressures & even Batool will give in.

Closing Thoughts:

Overall, this episode of Balaa was just alright because I was not too impressed with Shama & her sensibility as a mother. As far as Shama’s concerns for Taimoor were concerned they were genuine but when it came to Batool it was too obvious that she was ready to sacrifice her daughter for the sake of Zafar & Junaid’s happiness by wanting Batool to mend his broken heart exactly the way Nigar would do for Taimoor. The acting of all the actors is definitely amazing & the actress playing the role of Batool stands out again. She is effortless & a fine actor. Balaa Episode 7 & 8 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was nice & took the story forward a great deal however I dread that things might start to get dragged from now on considering Nigar will get what she wants & she will continue to fool Taimoor’s too-good-to-be-true family. Things might get monotonous with Nigar winning every single time but I wish we get to see her real face coming through as soon as possible!

Developments:

Saba eloped & left everyone broken hearted, with Rashida to Shama to Taimoor & his sisters. The only two people happy with this entire scenario were Zafar & Nigar. The writer quite intelligently showed the ripple effect where Nigar’s selfishness literally ruined everyone’s life & one move of hers destroyed everything. Nigar stumbled upon Saba & Mateen that is when she devised a plan of helping them out & using Mateen to throw Zeba out of Junaid’s life too. Even though Zafar loves his daughter but his love is exactly the reason why Nigar has become so evil. Zafar’s love has brought out the worst in her & it is the worst a father can do for his child.

Nigar wanted Taimoor & because of one desire of hers, she went to such an extreme that people around her had to bear the consequences. Rashida died because she could not deal with what Saba did. Zeba died because of what Junaid did to her too & all this happened only because of Nigar. Taimoor was not himself anymore & I liked how it was shown that for the first time it was hard for the entire family of a guy to deal with what happened. I liked how the writer didn’t show that Taimoor moved on quickly forgetting what Saba did. Taimoor’s question to Rashida about knowing that Saba liked someone else was spot on, it was basically Rashida’s stubbornness that also pushed Saba to do something like this plus with Nigar’s generosity, both Saba & Mateen got the edge & the courage to run away!

CYMERA_20180925_003518

It was unfortunate that Zeba’s character made an exit just like that. I wish the writer had turned her into a strong independent woman who had later succeeded in unveiling Nigar’s reality in front of Junaid. The way Zeba left rather seemed like a convenient way that the writer chose to deal with her character because right from the beginning it was suggested that Zeba was a helpless soul!

Junaid on his own was dealing with depression as well. Junaid & Taimoor are both victims of Nigar’s desire, her evilness & her selfishness & what is upsetting is that she puts on this facade which makes her look so sweet. I will add though that Shama’s emotional dependence on Nigar seemed a bit out of the place though. It is nice that Shama only believes in seeing the good in people but then to ignore the perspective & look out of her own children isn’t justified either. Shama knows too well that Taimoor does not like Nigar so to hear her take Nigar’s name as Taimoor’s future wife was upsetting. Shama is committing the same mistake as Rashida & considering Rashida was her best friend, Shama should have learned from her mistakes. In Rashida’s case, Saba had a way out but in Shama’s case, Taimoor will only sulk because he won’t find a way out as he will eventually agree to his mother’s wish of marrying Nigar.

The story of Balaa so far has shown Nigar & Zafar winning & it has set the ground for them to play but I am intrigued to see how Nigar’s reality will surface & what will be the end of her? I wish the writer does not show that committing such crimes for your loved one is justified by forgiving Nigar’s character in the end. She should definitely face the brunt of ruining so many lives.

Closing Thoughts:

Overall this episode of Balaa was a decent watch. I liked how the writer covered the mindsets of Taimoor & Junaid – two people who lost everything in love – two people who are victims to someone else’s evil plans. Junaid however had the option of standing by his wife right till the end but he gave up because Zafar & Nigar didn’t let that happen but still, there was a chance which he lost. Taimoor however is a pure victim but let’s see if he will ever confront the evil in his life. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa.

Balaa Episode 5 & 6 Story Review – Good Progress

Opening Thoughts:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was well executed & quite interesting. I am glad that the story moved forward & there were a lot of developments to this episode’s credit. So far Balaa does have a story that has been seen before but the kind of execution that has been given to it as well as the characters makes it interesting enough to tune to every single week.

Developments:

Zafar & Nigar knew that if they will directly tell Junaid to divorce Zeba, he will never do that out of his love for her, that is why they started with their evil mind games only to further their agenda. Nigar wants Zeba out of Junaid’s life because after that Zafar will be able to push Shama to get Taimoor married to Nigar & Batool to Junaid. Even though Zafar & Nigar spent quite a lot of money as well as energy to malign Junaid’s heart against Zeba, it was unfortunate that it did not take a minute for Junaid to believe everything that was being presented in front of him.

CYMERA_20180918_151149

At times Junaid did try to reason with Zafar & he also defended Zeba but he couldn’t stay firm because Zafar was adamant & was making sure that he kept on brain feeding his son against his wife constantly. Junaid might be the victim here but then I will label him as a weak individual who could not stand by his decision of protecting his wife & most importantly trusting her.

I guessed it right, Nigar & Zafar hired Mateen, Saba’s boyfriend, for this task. Nigar obviously saw him with Saba & knew that he would do anything to get her so I am sure she gave him 10 lacs to do this job which was a decent amount for him to get his life started with Saba on his own. Mateen did what he was asked to without thinking about the consequences that he will have to face later but for now, things turned out to be exactly how Zafar & Nigar wanted. Junaid will never be able to unsee walking onto Zeba & Mateen in the same room. I so wish they show Nigar & Zafar paying a huge price for ruining someone’s life like that.

CYMERA_20180918_151013

On the other hand, Saba tried to talk to her mother once again but Rashida continued to praise her luck of scoring a damaad like Taimoor. I agree, anyone would want a damaad like Taimoor but it can not & should not be ignored if the girl who is being forced to marry someone is mentally ready for it or not? Saba did say rightly so that Taimoor might be nice but not necessarily meant to be an ideal for her but Rashida chose to overlook Saba’s wishes because she liked Taimoor more than Saba did. Whatever happened later was basically a result of Saba’s choices not being respected. If Rashida had allowed her daughter to be with the one she loved, this wouldn’t have happened!

Nigaar was lurking around only to showcase how nice & kind-hearted she is. Zafar didn’t want to be a part of Shama’s happiness but Nigar scored some brownie points by going against her father in front of Shama. Nigar is quite manipulative & it is sad that she is building up her relationship after destroying a couple of other relationships. Let’s see what price she will pay.

I feel Zeba should bounce back & show it to Junaid that she is better off without him. It was sad seeing her defeated & dejected already by saying again & again that she was nothing without him or his support. I am sure after their divorce the character of Zeba will make an exit from the story but I hope they keep her as a side track & do show her progress & how she works to become an independent strong woman only for Junaid to realize later that he was wrong about her. Let’s see if this happens.

Closing Thoughts:

Overall, this episode covered a lot of scenarios & details. I also like the filler scenes that Balaa has, it keeps things flowing nicely & help changing the scenario as well – like Taimoor & Saleha’s argument over different topics & Taimoor & Shama’s conversations, all of that makes it quite interesting. All of the actors are performing brilliantly but Sajid Hassan is fun to watch, Zafar’s mannerism is hilarious & the way he speaks, Sajid Hassan has really nailed this character. Balaa Episode 37 & 38 Story Review – Better Late Than Never

Opening Thoughts – One Sided Match Again:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was definitely on a better note after a long long time but then, it will once again turn into a one-sided match with Taimoor winning this time around. If they had started this two-way battle before, things would have been much more interesting but chalo better late than never.

Nigar Confessed & Taimoor Has A Plan:

Taimoor finally got hold of the missing piece of puzzle that he was looking for in order to make up his mind about Nigar as well as decide a punishment for her. Hamza’s mother did the honors of being the first one to spill the beans about Nigar’s evil plans & that started the entire conversation where Taimoor got to hear the series of confessions about what Nigar has done all this while but I am glad that while telling who the mastermind was, everyone owned their mistakes, crimes & wrongdoings too. Hamza’s mother was the first one to tell Taimoor about how she played with Batool’s feelings while still blaming herself for Batool’s death & yes, she is also responsible. Similarly, Zafar let Taimoor know about how he lied about Batool’s death & ruined Junaid’s life in order to support to Nigar & he also held himself responsible for everything that happened. Later Saba told Taimoor everything that Mateen did & how Zeba paid the price for it & yes, she was regretful too because she did not feel pity on anyone to be with Mateen in the past.

Nigar finally got to confess how she maligned Taimoor’s heart against Batool & to hear her confess all of her wrongdoings while still making herself look like a victim was quite interesting, that entire scene was written well & the writer showed how Nigar had no remorse over what she has done in the past. This is what sets her apart from everyone else who has supported her through the course of destroying everyone – they all have regrets, they all are trying to make amends, they all are looking for some sort of punishment in order to put their hearts to ease but then comes Nigar who still fails to see her fault & thinks she is the victim here, not only that, she tried to justify her wrongdoings by giving it a name of love that she has for Taimoor!

When Taimoor left his job, I was thinking how did it even matter but I was pleasantly surprised when Taimoor came back home with a plan in his mind & not only that, he made Saba challenge Nigar & then one thing lead to another. Nigar ended up giving him the authority over her share of the business & now Taimoor is going to use it as a playground to destroy Zafar & Nigar. It is good to see Taimoor using his brains & coming up with one plan after another while still maintaining composure in front of Nigar. He knows that Nigar only wants his love & attention, so he is giving it to her but on his own terms.

The last & final nail in the coffin was Taimoor’s interaction with the doctor. Well, I will say though that the entire scene was poorly done because Nigar & Taimoor took their child to the hospital, so for a gynaecologist to show up & then say she’ll send a paediatrician was illogical. Also, that doctor attended Saleha’s Nikkah, if not Nikkah but she did get to know about Saleha’s condition when she was in the hospital so it is highly unlikely that she hadn’t seen Saleha or recognized her before. The beginning of the entire conversation where the doctor was still unsure & ambiguous was unconvincing but I think they now just focused on getting the message across to Taimoor therefore they didn’t really put much thought to the technicalities. Well, this was yet another secret that was unveiled in front of Taimoor & he got another answer that he was looking for. Not sure if he will also find out about what Nigar did to Shama before she left the house because that is one more thing that he should know. Anyways, Taimoor posed to be all calm & collected in front of Nigar but deep inside he had this storm brewing in his mind & heart where he wanted to punish Nigar for all that she has done. I will once again say, better late than never.

Closing Thoughts – Is It Ending?

Well the preview of the next episode was basically a recap of the entire drama & this is something they usually do when the drama’s ending in the next episode so yes, I’d be glad if they end Balaa next week but I totally feel it will be rushed because dedicating 36 episodes to the negativity of one character & only 4 episodes (or even 6 for the sake of argument) to bring the character to punishment is not too convincing because we can see the imbalance in the ratio. Anyways, it is good that the door to Nigar’s destruction has finally opened & we’ll get to see her end. For the first time ever since the drama has begun, I found Bilal Abbas Khan’s acting convincing & strong. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa.

Balaa Episode 35 & 36 – Story Review

Opening Thoughts – Full of Negativity:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was again disturbing. I think the writer has crossed all the limits of showing negativity & I find it funny that she has made one character so powerful where she gets to decide who lives & who doesn’t. Again, Samina Peerzada’s phenomenal acting is one thing but I did not feel for Taimoor whatsoever. I think more than focusing on how negative Nigar is, people should focus on what’s happening to Taimoor & Co. only because of their stupidity. No wonder why a human being is blessed with a thing called brain & how it is given to us to be used so yes, those who do not use their brains get to face the dire consequences – at least this is the message that I will pick up from Balaa & reinforce!

Nigar Gets To Decide Who Lives & Who Dies:

Nigar cut Shama’s hair & alongside she cut her windpipe too because of which she stopped breathing & passed away, at least this is what the writer has shown so yes. When all of this was happening, I was just wondering about how unconvincing this entire scenario was where Taimoor left for Dubai. I mean after losing 2 sisters & seeing how his mother lost her senses, was it really THIS important for him to go to Dubai & leave his mother on the mercy of Nigar that too when he had already started suspecting that she was the one behind everything that was going wrong in his house. I think it was absolutely stupid of Taimoor to leave Shama with Nigar & on top of that expect that she will take care of her, that too when Nigar was full of excuses & had made it very very clear that she had a full time responsibility of their son Saad. Not only that Nigar even misbehaved with Shama in front of Taimoor so many times so what kind of royal treatment was he expecting that Nigar will give to Shama in his absence? Yes, on his own Taimoor did appoint Saba to take care of Shama but he could’ve moved Shama to Saba’s place, away from Nigar at least.

Nigar to koi supernatural being hai bhai, she gets to decide who lives & who doesn’t. She is the one wrecking people’s home on a whim. She is responsible for Saba Mateen’s divorce. She decided when Zeba, Saleha, Batool & Shama’s life should end. I think in stead of naming this drama Balaa, the writer should’ve named it as Baba because Nigar is this pohanchi hui cheez who has a full fledged control over people’s lives & deaths. I guess now Taimoor, Junaid, Zafar & Saba are left – 10 episodes more & all these guys will die too & then Nigar will be the last woman standing!!!

Taimoor hadn’t seen Shama, he had no idea where she was or what she looked like before she left the house but when he came to that hospital, he told the receptionist that Shama’s hairstyle was a little strange. Fail!

Zafar is left alone now that Junaid has gone to the police. Taimoor didn’t find out about it yet but looks like he will. Ohhh pata hai mai dar gai when Taimoor finally made up his mind that he will destroy Nigar & turn her into ibrat ka nishan. Matlab was he waiting for 3 women to die so that he could take this step? Why didn’t Batool’s death shake & wake him up. Bhai ye to self-imposed misery hai. Shama imposed Nigar on her entire family so nateeja ye nikla. Taimoor didn’t do anything that he was supposed to so he better not hold Nigar responsible for everything.

Closing Thoughts – Sick Joke:

Balaa has turned into a sick joke to be honest. I didn’t feel a thing because now the negativity has gone to some other level where it doesn’t even seem realistic. In stead of blaming Nigar, I will blame others as well for being too dumb-headed to not do anything the moment they started suspecting that Nigar’s intentions were evil. Too much hi ho gaya hai bhai. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa. I’m off to watch a light-hearted Korean Drama & I’d suggest you guys do the same in order to come out of this depression that you all must be feeling after watching such a disturbing episode.

Balaa Episode 33 & 34 Story Review – Change of Thought Process

Opening Thoughts – Some Change Finally:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa focused on the change that the characters were going through. It seems the characters who were stuck in a rut have finally evolved & are now approaching things with a different perspective which I admit was good to see as well as highly required!

Nigar Is Evil – We Know – What’s New?

Taimoor has now started to treat the way Nigar wants to be treated but from his side there’s a lot of tact involved. Taimoor knows that his mother is not in a condition to go through the scrutiny of Nigar that is why for a while he changed his attitude with his wife because he dreaded the time Shama will be left alone with Nigar once Taimoor will be gone. Taimoor has started to have a feeling that things went wrong after Nigar came into his life that is why he is in search of a clue that will help him solve this conundrum.

Junaid finally spoke up & I am glad he didn’t beat around the bush & clearly told his father that he has found out about what he has done. Asad Siddique’s acting in that scene was brilliant. Even though he has been a part of this drama right from the beginning but for the first time he made his presence felt in this episode. Junaid can see that his father is also struggling & is burdened with the guilt that is why he made it very clear to Zafar that he has lost his son. Junaid was already depressed but it was good to see him not losing his senses further after finding out the truth, rather he took it as an eye opener that forced him to do what was right like confessing his crime in order to do right by Batool’s family.

Taimoor left but before that he made sure Shama was well taken care of & for that he gave that responsibility to Saba. Saba is trying to pick up the pieces therefore she takes it as an opportunity to compensate for the pain she had caused to Taimoor & his family plus it will evolve into a relationship later on. Everything else is fine but can someone please comb Saba’s hair & tie them in a braid or a bun? That entire hair situation of Saba’s seems to be messy & problematic. Saba claims to have made Shama’s hair so I wish she had used the same comb/brush for herself too.

There seems to be no limits for Nigar that is why she even assaulted Shama but honestly speaking, I didn’t feel much while watching that scene because the writer has shown us so much negativity from her side that I feel desensitized towards anything that Nigar puts other through. Apparently Nigar can literally kill people without batting an eyelid so for her to give her mother in a law a beating is not a big deal. Taimoor thinks he did something huge by catching Nigar’s lie about changing Shama’s clothes. They have been showing this laughter of Taimoor in the precaps since last 2 weeks so I assumed it would be something big but this is what he was laughing about? I think its time for us viewers to laugh now!!!

Taimoor has once again pledged that he will punish Nigar which made me roll my eyes because again, this was coming from someone who decided to believe that his sister was cheating after marriage only because his wifey said so!!! Taimoor in my opinion is a failed character also I am sure he won’t be the one finding out the truth – Junaid’s confession will do the actual work & in the end Taimoor will take the crown for everything because he happens to be the actual hero of the drama!?!

Closing Thoughts – Disturbing Preview & One Dimensional Characters:

The preview of the next episode was disturbing. I think the writer has shown us enough so there’s no need to push it further & beyond. They have pretty well established the fact that Nigar is evil so I guess that’s enough. Looks like next episode will again contain a lot of empty threats by Taimoor to Nigar but I am wondering when will he actually take action & walk the talk? So far he has only come up with one excuse after another, his time his excuse was his posting to Dubai as if us se pehle he was working like a detective trying to solve the mystery. Zafar is also a failed character, 34 episodes & for the half of it he kept on saying he wanted to do something for Junaid but in the end, Junaid was the one who helped himself & did what he deem right. I feel the writer focused so much on creating this evil Balaa that she forget to focus on the rest of the characters & kept them pretty one-dimensional, I mean look at Taimoor – zero growth. Look at Saleha, poor girl was so simple that she didn’t even know she should seek medical help for her aches. Look at Zafar, he’s got so much money but he couldn’t find a doctor for Junaid for so long!!! Anyways, Asad Siddique’s acting in this episode was top notch & the rest of the actors have performed well. Ushna Shah’s acting in the scene where Balaa hits Shama was awkward, I am sure as an actor it must’ve been hard for her to enact that scene where she has to assault a senior actor – it was too obvious. I just can’t wait for this negative chewing gum to end. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa.

Balaa Episode 31 & 32 Story Review – Slow Progress

Opening Thoughts – Slow Progress:

Ohkay so, this episode of Balaa was again disturbing with not much progress to its credit. I say not much progress because the main culprit has still not been caught & no one knows much about her so far whereas the preview last week did engage me but this episode was a disappointment in that regard. Since in the previous episode, quite a lot happened so they focused on the aftermath but still, the pace of Balaa has been really slow & I am glad they air double episodes otherwise it would’ve been a huge task tuning to it (not that it isn’t still).

Nigar Hasn’t Been Caught Yet:

As far as Nigar was concerned, things were pretty normal for her which I found a little odd. Taimoor was cold & distant but still things were fine between them. In the meantime Nigar had a baby boy & Taimoor got a promotion which he wasn’t too keen about because he knew that Shama needed him the most. Shama lost her senses, obviously with so much that has happened recently, it was imperative that she lost her sensibilities but then Nigar also kept on pushing all the wrong buttons. Honestly, to hear Nigar speak so casually about Saleha & Batool was absolutely disgusting. I really wish the writer has kept a very grave ending for this character because she has really crossed all the limits!

Well, Saba came back after Mateen left her. I really wish they had shown us a bit more of their side of the story to justify how they couldn’t progress & lead a happy life after ruining Zeba’s life. Even though Mateen got a huge amount to lead a comfortable life but it was a done deal that they won’t be happy together so yes, a little more detailing in regards to their track would’ve been better. Well, Junaid also met Mateen by chance & found out the truth that Zeba was innocent & his father was the one who planned all of that. At first, I thought Junaid would give up but it was a good surprise that he didn’t jump off that building & chose to sit there introspecting over why his life turned out this way. I so wish Junaid happens to be the one who triggers Nigar’s undoing because she has put him through a lot too. Also, so much time has passed but Zafar is still stuck on how he should help Junaid or what he should do? He knows that Nigar will never help him still he is waiting for her to arrange a doctor for Junaid? Unconvincing!

Taimoor met Hamza & they both were unable to come to terms with what the other person was saying. Hamza could sense that something was not right whereas Taimoor was still siding with his wife’s version of the story that is why Hamza’s clear stance on how he was not in contact with Batool, couldn’t shake Taimoor up to suspect Nigar at least once. Well, they did show that Taimoor got a call from someone so let’s see if it was from Hamza or someone else. It looks like they will bring Saba & Taimoor together in the end which is something that I am not too keen about because after so much has happened, I want to see Nigar’s end more rather than rooting for a happy ending for a character like Taimoor who did nothing good & didn’t even live upto his relation with Batool, of being her brother, her protector, her savior! Also, in one of the scenes Nigar crossed the line with Shama by calling her ‘kaisi aurat hai ye etc’ & by the end of the episode Taimoor was flirting with Nigar trying to prove a point to Saba, like seriously, what was the writer or the director thinking? Taimoor wants Nigar to take care of Shama but when she misbehaved with her right in front of him, he didn’t utter a word!?! The characters in Balaa have been poorly written. It is too obvious that the writer focused all of her energies on Nigar’s character, that is why she was unable to pay attention to the rest of the characters or their situations.

Closing Thoughts – Disconnected Cast & Crew:

In this episode in particular, I felt the direction was a little off. The actors also seemed a little disconnected from their characters. I am sure bringing such a storyline to life wouldn’t have been easier for the actors’ themselves, may be that is why it looked like they have had enough too. Samina Peerzada’s performance was outstanding though, but then what else can be expected from an actor of her calibre. I hope they give us a detailed ending of Nigar’s character, a rushed ending wouldn’t be enough because they have put us through her torture for so long, so they need to give us a detailed end too showing her miserable, lonely & paying for her crimes. Let’s see when does it happen. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Balaa.
