Deepika Padukone’s ‘Padmavati’ has been banned by the censor board in India meanwhile Mahira Khan starrer ‘Verna’ has met the same fate here in Pakistan.
When asked of the Padmavati ban the Baajirao Mastaani starlet had the following to say in her recent interview with Pinkvila,
“It’s amusing actually sometimes when I look at it and I actually look at this as a moment for all of us to be celebrating this woman’s life. To celebrate everything she stood for, to celebrate everything that she believed in, to celebrate Rajput culture and heritage. This is a time for us to celebrate really.”
Speaking of bans when she was asked of her opinion on the ban Mahira Khan starrer ‘Verna’ is facing and how people are so quick to judge films she said,
“Yes, It’s sad that a small section of people don’t understand the power of cinema and what it can do to the world. It brings people together, it spreads love, it’s fascinating what cinema can do and it’s sad that a certain group of people choose to not recognise that.”
Both films are set to release this fall and what becomes of them is yet to be seen.

She also had advice for actresses who have become memes due to their bad English.
Deedar said that she has seen people try and speak in wrong English. One should then just speak in our own language Urdu and speak that properly instead of trying to say words in a foreign language and fumble.
Deedar aka Sonia Idrees is a very famous actress and dancer of Pakistan. She has worked in films and theatre and she has appeared in music videos. She is also a businesswoman and she runs her own beauty salon. The actress is very candid and often shares unknown stories about Lollywood. She was a guest on Suno To Sahi and made a very weird observation.
Deedar is the sister of actress Nargis who was already a superstar when Deedar made her debut. Rambo has worked a lot with Nargis and he has always praised how professional she was. Deedar said that she had to make her debut with Rambo but he refused to work with her. He said that I treat Deedar like a daughter. She is so young and used to sit on my lap. I cannot do romantic films with her.
They then worked together:
Deedar’s mother asked Rambo that who will work with her if he refused to star with her and this is why ultimately Rambo said Yes and Deedar came into the film industry. Rambo wore sunglasses in a song with her as he did not want to see her eyes while performing.
Deedar is a famous Pakistani actress known for her theatre and film performances. She initially gained fame as a dancer before switching to acting. Her most popular film to date is Choorian. She is the younger sister of ace actress Nargis. Deedar left the media industry soon after getting married and is currently away from the media, but she often makes headlines due to her explosive interviews. A few days ago, she called Resham toxic, saying she destroys others’ lives, which sparked a fight online between the two actresses.
Deedar and Resham’s catfight isn’t stopping, after which Uzma Bukhari had to intervene. She urged both not to use the demeaning language against each other and also urged Deedar to apologize.
Resham reshared her post, thanking Uzma Bukhari and saying friends like her are a blessing.
Deedar didn’t pay heed to whatever was happening on the internet and wrote, “Nobody can make me apologize forcefully.”
She further added, “So they don’t want to take my name, but there was a time they used to sit with me in the same dirt. They used to sleep here, eat breakfast here; their lunches and dinners were here with me. They used to call me anytime, sometimes even reaching my home before me. Today, we are dirt for them. If they think like that, it’s their thought. I can’t say anything—people will know her by themselves. Half of the people already know about her.” Here is the link to the video she shared on her Instagram story:
Deedar is one of the biggest names in Pakistani Punjabi theatre. She gained fame as a dancer and later moved into acting. Deedar has now left stage dancing and films and is pursuing her career as a stylist and beautician. The actress is happily married and has two sons. Recently, she made headlines after issuing fiery statements against film star Resham.
Unlike Resham, Deedar shares a very cordial relationship with film star Meera. She recently visited Meera’s production house, Red Lipstick, where she met her and extended love and support. Meera also thanked Deedar, showered praise on her, and paid tribute to her services to art and culture.
While extending her best wishes to Meera for her upcoming film Psycho, Deedar said, “I am here with Meera at her production house. I have just seen a few scenes and songs from the upcoming movie Psycho, which are phenomenal. I wish the film great success, especially with legends like Meera and Shaan in it. I will watch it multiple times. Actors like Meera and Shaan are assets.” Meera also acknowledged Deedar’s contributions as an artist. Here is the link to the video:
Deedar is one of the renowned names in the Pakistani Punjabi film industry and theatre. She initially gained fame as a dancer before switching to acting. Her most popular film to date is Choorian. Initially, Deedar did not want to become an actor but was forced to join the media industry by her elder sister Nargis; however, she later accepted her profession. Deedar left the media industry soon after getting married. She now has two adorable sons. A few days ago, she also made headlines for her alleged involvement in fraudulent activities alongside her husband.
Recently, Deedar appeared in an Eid special show, Suno To Sahi, hosted by Hina Niazi. In the show, Deedar accused Resham of destroying homes.
Talking about it, Deedar said, “Nargis is a great actor, but in a negative way, Resham is a very good actor. She is perfect at portraying negative stuff; she has destroyed many homes and lives. She is very negative in real life. I know about her cooking and charity stuff; I’m afraid that one day she might fall into the meals she cooks for others. I have a personal experience with Resham. She was first my friend for years, and I had a bitter experience, after which I am telling this and warning her current friends to beware of her—save yourselves.” Watch here:
Resham and Deedar are both old Lollywood actresses. They have successful careers and they have been working in the industry for three decades now. They have just brought the old school cat fights back as they are attacking each other on national television.
Deedar was a guest on a show where she said that Resham is a very negative person. She said that Resham always targets her own friends and nearly everyone has been the victim of her negativity in the industry and she is a person whom she will not like to become. She accused Resham of destroying lives. This is what Deedar had to say:
Resham also had to reply to this dig. In another interview, she spoke about Deedar and said that this woman is not famous herself. She is just known as someone’s sister and these people are just jealous of her due to her langar.
Ohkay so, as much as I want this drama to work, Deedan is turning into a bigger joke week by week. I always tune to it expecting something good out of it but it always disappoints. I still am unable to wrap my head around the fact that the entire cast & crew could come together to make this kind of drama which is poorly written & badly executed.
Caricatures:
Resham got married to Gulbaz & to see him romancing with her was cringe x infinity. The way Resham laughed when Gulbaz got hurt due to the earthquake was ridiculous. The way the characters have been designed makes it hard for me to feel anything for them. At this point, in stead of looking like normal people with some personality all of the characters are looking like caricatures. Resham pleads in front of her father, threatens like its nobody’s business but the next moment goes back to Gulbaz’s Khan to do all that she refused to in front of her father! What a strong woman wow! They are obviously showing that circumstances are turning a strong woman into a bechari but I don’t buy. Also, the writer has tried to give us a love story with a lot of twists & turns but it is not making an impact & is falling flat. The way Resham rebukes Zardab & the way Zardab confesses his love to her has become boring & monotonous now as there is absolutely no chemistry between them & it seems like a failed love affair between two weak individuals!
Zardab’s brother’s whining in front of his mother like a toddler suffering from terrible two was again ridiculous. He always supported Zardab but now suddenly flipped but oh I guess he was against Zardab’s feelings for Resham ever since she got married but then their conversations were just so boring that I never felt like paying heed. So yes, Zardab’s brother was now tired of chasing after Zardab, I mean zahir si baat hai because they are past the age of pakran pakrai!
Palwasha & Aalam Zeb’s track is so boring, bland & just so poorly done that I am unable to figure out its connection with the entire story. All there is to it is that Palwasha was once Resham’s friend & they have gone separate ways so? Aalam Zeb is obviously very cunning & Palwasha is the queen of naivety so? Whatelse? I am not sure where did the writer’s creativity go while writing down this track because there’s absolutely nothing new in it. Also, it seems Aalam Zeb is saving money for their own house because of which he didn’t let Palwasha help her friend Razia but on the other hand, they are living in such a huge villa that too on rent? RIP Bank Balance as well as Logic!!!
Closing Thoughts – Flop:
To be honest, I don’t think this drama is going to change or do better but I will give a couple of episodes a go & see if I want to continue watching it because so far it has only disappointed & hasn’t done anything else. It won’t be wrong to say that Deedan is a flop so far. Please share your thoughts about this hideous episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, this episode of Deedan was more like an elaboration of the preview that we get to see by the end of every single episode. Since there isn’t much that Deedan has to offer, watching a preview of it is more than enough. It is a shame that despite having such strong actors & such beautiful locations the story of this drama isn’t brilliant!
Same Old Situations:
Resham tried to retaliate but then no one came to her help. I must say, Zardab should get an award for being a naqaam ashiq because after one failed plan, he failed yet again. It is understandable that things have not been in Zardab & Resham’s favor but still, to see them failing in such petty ways is amusing where at first Resham’s father caught them & twisted the reality & this time around Zardab’s brother stopped him simply by putting a lock on the door? Funny. Also, if Zardab mustered up the courage to go to Resham’s house personally then what was he or even she waiting for? They could’ve eloped then & there but oh well!
Gul Makai’s role in bringing Gulbaz Khan & Resham together is funny. She only doesn’t want to let go of the housemaid that she has got in the form of Resham therefore she doesn’t mind sharing her husband who actually looks like her brother. As much the writer has tried to give these characters some personality, I don’t see it in them also there is zero intensity & the chemistry between the actors, which makes it a very bland experience watching Deedan.
Palwasha is getting groomed day by day & considering she has done only a few modelling projects so far, that seems a bit too much. Also, for someone like Palwasha who happens to be quite conscious of her surroundings, this entire makeover seems unrealistic & too forced. Despite the progress in her career, there’s nothing new or exciting in her track because all she does is doubt Aalam Zeb for a second, forgets about the next & calls Resham every other day. She might as well forget her accent too considering how she has changed everything about her
Closing Thoughts – Unimpressive:
So far Deedan’s story has not been impressive but I am still waiting to see if there’s more to it because I fail to accept that this entire team got together for such a mediocre drama? A part of me still believes (or want to believe) that they have a very interesting set of events in store for us which will impress us as a viewer, let’s see. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, the story of Deedan so far has been nothing short of a disappointment because watching Deedan is like watching stereotypical characters that have absolutely nothing new to offer. The writer has tried to create something but the final product has miserably failed to deliver!
Gulbaz & Resham – The New Couple:
Gulbaz has his sights on Resham but he was too afraid to say a word about it. That entire scenario where Resham opened the door without her veil that too with her golden locks on the loose was absolutely unconvincing because in an environment where Resham lives, it was unrealistic for her to casually open the door in that condition plus her friend Palwasha is in Karachi so she also wasn’t expecting a female at her door either? That scene was basically a perfect example of dramatic-situation-gone-wrong. Gulbaz obviously has started liking Resham & that is why he spoke to Shafiullah subliminally about the wedding without making it too obvious that he intended to marry Resham himself!
Gul Makai is keen on keeping Resham with her that is why she herself suggested Gulbaz to marry Resham. Gul Makai obviously has her reasons & Gulbaz is in a win win situation because he has gotten a green signal from Shafiullah as well as Gul Makai, his first wife. Resham obviously refuses to accept this decision of Gul Makai but then she isn’t left with a chance since her own father has made it very clear that he has nothing to do with her anymore!
The conversations between Zardab & his brother are monotonous & repetitive. It is like they have nothing else to talk about other than Resham. Both the brothers are in dire need of a life! Also, since Resham was never happy with Shehbaz & a considerable amount of time has passed after his death, then what is it that is stopping Resham from being with Zardab? They have shown Resham as an opinionated individual who has been forced to make her own decisions since Shafiullah has pretty much estranged her, then what is she waiting for?
Oh well, Palwasha is pretty & Alam Zeb is shady. He is getting way too comfortable with Palwasha’s earnings but then as far as they both have a mutual understanding, trust & respect for each other then it is good. So far Alam Zeb has definitely presented himself as a supportive & understanding husband who is ready to be there for his wife without questioning her choices, so it is good but let’s see if their track will remain just as smooth as is it now. Also, the sudden shift & change in Palwasha’s overall styling was unconvincing too considering the kind of locality she lives in. It didn’t seem realistic enough that she groomed herself so much in such a short span of time that too without anyone’s guidance!
Closing Thoughts – Weak Storyline:
I can definitely give Deedan a perfect score for locations, camera work, direction & the actors’ special attention on delivering the accurate accent but when it comes to the story & the characters, Deedan has had absolutely nothing new to offer so far. I am not too sure if there’s something special in store for the viewers & I am just wondering what were those factors that convinced such an intelligent starcast to work in this project which has such a weak storyline? Please share your thoughts about these two episodes of Deedan.
Ohkay so, this episode of Deedan didn’t have anything new to offer. No matter how elaborate the cast is or how amazing the locations are, a drama needs a strong storyline to work & click with the audience which definitely is the main factor missing in Deedan. I will continue to give this drama a try in a hope that it will pick up a pace & have a lot more to offer.
Resham is Mentally & Emotionally Free:
Resham has become more like a captive after her marriage to Shehbaz Khan but Resham is relieved as she has found a roof over her head away from the shadow of her father who she hasn’t really forgiven till date. Resham’s parents in law only treat her as a house maid & she’s nothing more than that for them.
Shehbaz Khan passed away & it was too obvious that it had no effect on Resham because she was not at all emotionally attached to him. For Resham, Shehbaz Khan was a liability & now she was emotionally & mentally free. It does look like Gulbaz Khan might consider getting married to Resham because he couldn’t help noticing her which means she is not as free as she thinks she is.
Zardab came back only for Resham & his mother wasn’t happy at all. Palwasha & Alam Zeb’s track took a different turn. Aalam Zeb seemed a little too keen on the fact that Palwasha should do some job & earn some money. Palwasha also got convinced but it looks like the destiny had something else in store for her. It is obvious that Palwasha’s pictures will be a big hit with the client that the photograper clicked them for & it will open anoher domain for Palwasha. I really want things to work out between Aalam Zeb & Palwasha without him exploiting his wife in any way.
Closing Thoughts – Things Should Change:
Overall, this episode of Deedan didn’t have anything special to offer. I totally believe that things should move forward now & the story should show something substantial if it has any depth. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, this episode of Deedan was pretty basic. Till now the story of Deedan hasn’t given us anything new or what we have not seen before but it still is a decent drama to tune to & not to forget those beautiful locations that are definitely not to be missed because it is visually appeasing to watch Deedan.
Resham’s Sacrifices:
Resham is putting up with everything that her parents in law are directing towards her. It has been convincingly shown that when someone dies an emotional death within, nothing really matters to them anymore. Resham is not happy, but she is not sad either, she is just numb & aloof because she knows her worst nightmare has been materialized & there is nothing she can do about it. Resham knows that when her own father didn’t think about her happiness, then she can not also expect Shehbaz’s parents to be considerate of her happiness too. Resham’s only hope & happiness was Zardab so now when he is not there anymore, she has no emotions, no feelings left to hold onto.
It was good that Zardab cleared the misunderstanding between Resham & Palwasha. It was nice that before Palwasha left, Resham got to pour her heart out to her & said what she wanted to. Palwasha left for Karachi with her husband & got to meet this nosey neighbor of hers. I have a feeling she will be a bad influence on Palwasha, let’s see but for now it was nice to see a newly wedded couple having casual conversations where there was love & happiness between them.
Resham got to meet her father after a long time & she didn’t really say much as she knows she can not undo what has happened. I liked that Resham didn’t shy away from telling what she had on her mind to her father when she learnt from Zardab’s mother that Shafiullah tried to harm Zardab. Resham has a voice but she chooses not to use it as things have not been in her favor.
Closing Thoughts – Real Conversations:
Overall, this episode of Deedan was decent but there wasn’t much progress in the story. Yes, one truth was revealed that Shahbaz was an orphan & Gulbaz adopted him. Resham is not bound to take care of Gulbaz & Gul Makai but still she is doing it on ethical & moral grounds. I must say what I like about Deedan is that they have kept the conversations simple & real that is why it is easy connecting with the characters & it all feels very effortless. All the actors have done a commendable job & Sanam Saeed has carried this whole attire very elegantly. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, it is a known fact by now that the story of Deedan is bad & the direction is even worse. Unfortunately, I have invested quite a lot of time in this drama, that is why I have continued to watch it this far & honestly speaking, every single week when I think that they can’t stoop any low, they surprise me by crossing one limit after another & it just baffles me that a renowned actress like Sanam Saeed chose to work in this drama!
Extra Marital Affair:
Resham has once again eloped with Zardab & since then, she has stayed safe with the help of Sara & Palwasha. First Sara was the one who provided shelter to both Resham & Zardab & now it is Palwasha who with the help of her loser husband brought Resham to her house.
The most sickening aspect of this story is that a married pregnant woman is having an extra marital affair & everyone seems to support her. Yes, she is the victim in this entire scenario but the fact remains that she is still legally married to Gulbaz. If Resham or anyone had filed for divorce straight away then it would’ve still seemed justified that she is involved with Zardab but it is disgusting to see that no one is even bothered about this issue. Resham hates that she got pregnant & she sees this child as her enemy because Zardab doubted her character & questioned her intentions because of this child. This is yet another gruesome scenario of this drama where an unborn child who is completely innocent already has so much of a baggage attached to it because his/her mother is in love with a man who has proved to be a good-for-nothing so far.
So far, Zardab has only eloped with Resham what, thrice? & he has only spoken of his love but he has done nothing to prove it. I am amazed that till now, no one has decided to hire a lawyer to get Resham a divorce from Gulbaz so that she can start a normal life with Zardab? The writer has really tried to evoke sympathy for Resham but for now, that seems to be out of question. Yes, Zardab did save her life but right now, all these people like Sara & even Palwasha have done nothing to turn Resham’s life in a different direction where she can stop living in fear.
To be honest, as much as they are trying to show Palwasha as another victim trapped in a crappy marriage, the entire sympathy goes out of the picture when I see her falling for Alam Zeb’s lies time & again. It is actually quite amusing that despite being an independent working woman, Palwasha lets Alam Zeb fool her & exploit her to no end. Palwasha has made up her mind that she doesn’t love Alam Zeb anymore but the fact that she gave him a chance thinking he let Resham stay with them because he loved Palwasha had to be the most stupid thing ever.
Closing Thoughts – What’s The Purpose?
So many episodes have gone by, but I still do not understand the purpose of this drama, this story? There are two women, in totally different setting that are similarly being exploited & mistreated? So? I still find it disgusting how they have glorified an extra marital affair & have shown the guilty as some superwoman who is fighting to be with the love of her life? Who by the way is also not such an ideal personality. I must say the guy playing the role of Alam Zeb is annoying to the core & his hideous shirts & that fake forced accent do not help either. This drama seems like a joke to me & it has seriously forced me to think that Sanam Saeed has lately started to sign such dramas which guarantee her paid travelling – first Dil Banjara which was another flop drama & now Deedan? Seriously? It is unfortunate how the direction of this drama is just so so so bad. Those random Pashto dialogues out of nowhere, trying to reinforce that they all are Pukhtoons is such a bad attempt. It is another disappointing & unforgivable aspect that they have literally made a joke out of Pukhtoon culture & Pukhtoon people. This is not justified. Anyways, please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, the story of Deedan leaves me disgusted. There was a time that I tuned to it all hopeful that things might start working & the story might kick-start but I was left disappointed every single time. I still am unable to wrap my head around the fact that so much effort was put into making ‘THIS’ kind of drama? Like really?
Marital Rape of a Habitual Runaway Bride:
Palwasha has totally understood the kind of guy Alam Zeb is & she even tried to teach him a lesson by leaving but then to see her apologizing to him only because she was pressured by her parents was off-putting. Yes, she could not make her parents understand as they have that kind of mindset where in a marriage, a husband can never be wrong & a wife has to do what it takes to make the marriage work but I guess it was Palwasha’s duty to inform them about all that Alam Zeb puts her through for them to understand or even realize that Alam Zeb was shady. Also, what did Palwasha actually do after going back? Yes, she did get to meet Resham but apart from that, she just showed off her straightened hair, her fancy shawls & her high heels where made me cringe so bad because that was one inappropriate footwear to carry in a hill station but they actually did suggest that Palwasha packed that impractical footwear in & took it with her when she left in haste? Lol! So many episodes have passed & there’s not even a single scenario that must have made me feel that this character or entire track was useful in this drama!
Resham finally found hope because she got to know that Zardab was alive. To be honest this entire exercise of Resham running away with Zardab & then getting captured back again & again is very amusing. I must say even though Resham has seen the worst but the zest that she has to spend her life with Zardab is amusingly commendable. All things aside, what they showed in this episode of Deedan was disgusting. Marital rape is not something to show just so casually but I am actually shocked to see that the writer had nothing positive for Resham therefore she made her go through this too? Gulbaz said he couldn’t stand Resham & that he wanted her to die but to see him backing out of his word was disgusting. It is actually quite upsetting that the writer has picked 2 female characters & she is scrutinizing them to no end, by showing them being destroyed & toyed around just so casually. Like I fail to believe that the writer actually didn’t have any other idea or story in her mind that she actually came up with this crap where she has shown hooligan men toying with their women & treating them with absolute worst? Really? Aliya Dawood couldn’t think of anything else? Shocking & disgusting. It is so obvious that Resham will now fall pregnant & then we’ll see where she’ll run off to again? Because this is what she is born to do. Sickening.
Closing Thoughts – Nonsensical:
The amount of screaming that happens in this drama is enough to deafen healthy ear-drums. Also, it is too obvious that the actors focused more on their looks & makeup in stead of the story or acting, they all look like bunch of caricatures that they actually make me laugh. Honestly speaking, to see such an empowered & independent actor like Sanam Saeed settling for a script like this leaves a bad taste. It is good to see our actresses being so vocal about women rights & empowerment, so it would be good to see them leading by example too by saying no to such kind of disgusting scripts which show that women have zero control over their lives. Please share your thoughts about this episode of Deedan.
Ohkay so, it is a done deal that Deedan is not only a bad drama but it is a flop too & no wonder why it didn’t garner any attention or popularity despite having a strong cast because the story & characters are a joke to put it in simple words. Week after week I actually waited for it to improve or kick-start but it continued to touch new lows every single time!
A Drama So Bad It Leaves You Baffled:
Palwasha is a gone case. Even though they have tried to show her as a damsel in distress who has a manipulative, controlling & shady husband but to honest, in stead of feeling anything for her, I feel annoyed at her stupidity. Alam Zeb has made it quite obvious to Palwsha that he is not someone who can be trusted so for her to fall for his lies again & again is pathetic. Also, Palwsha is an independent woman who makes a living for herself so why is it so hard for her to call her family or anyone in the village & ask them directly about whatever she wants to know about Resham or anything else for that matter? Alam Zeb keeps on stalling but Palwasha continues to wait for him thinking he will do what she asked him to? Palwasha’s helplessness is just forced & unconvincing. Plus what was the point of showing her touching the skies professionally when they just had to show that she is someone who can not take a stand for herself & conveniently allows her husband to fool her every single time!
Resham got captured by Gulbaz & then the entire village decided a punishment of stoning her? What are they trying to promote or show here? As far as I know, our actors are very vocal about women empowerment & women liberation & progressiveness so what are they actually trying to portray it to the world by showing such kind of dramas? It is absolutely unacceptable that in such an attractive packaging they are just selling an outdated concept here. Gulbaz is one story but Gul Makai (read Huma Nawab) is intolerable. Also, are they going to show that Zardab didn’t die & that he will once again come back & rescue Resham? A woman who is already married to someone else again? Seeing the snippets of their love story was another cringey factor of this episode.
Closing Thoughts – Trainwreck:
It is actually quite shocking to see that the director could not extract the best acting out of all those actors who, in other dramas, perform brilliantly. I think the person responsible for turning Deedan into a train wreck is the director. Also, the writer forgot that just coming out with a concept is just not enough, scriptwriting is an extensive exercise which requires a lot of detailing & hard work. It is shocking to see how all the characters are coming across as caricatures because they have been performed by those actors who have a lot of experience in acting but looks like they couldn’t do much because the director failed big time. Please share your thoughts.
Ohkay so, it is amazing how this drama continues to disappoint week after week. The story of Deedan is not only poorly written but is quite bad. The characters have zero personalities & there’s nothing interesting about this drama. I tune to it every week in a hope that things might change but everything stays the same & they do not give me anything special to talk about. The lack of interesting scenarios & strong characters have made this drama a joke. I still am unable to understand why the drama makers wasted so much resources on a story like this.
Badly Written Scenarios & Characters:
Zardab & Resham ran away & the hell broke loose but what I am unable to understand is that they both especially Zardab was well aware of the consequences so why was he hiding with Resham in their hometown? Why didn’t he straight away take Resham to some other city where they would’ve stayed safe for the time being? Zardab did have a friend who helped him but I am not sure what was his brother Dilawar trying to achieve here? He knew that Zardab ran away with Resham so he should’ve just let them be. Why was he so keen on reaching out to Zardab? Even though the actors have tried really hard to stay true to the mannerism of Pukhtoons but their acting is quite bland because it is so obvious that they put all their energies into pronouncing the accurate accent which again seems meaningless because the story as well the characters are bad!
Palwasha made some decisions with the help of her friend Sara but she always falls weak in front of Alam Zeb as he knows how to control her & sway her emotions. Palwasha is simple minded but after being deceived by Alam Zeb time & again if she allows him to have a control over her then she is stupid. Alam Zeb has gotten used to the money that Palwsha makes as well as the luxurious lifestyle that they have that is why he makes sure has is in charge of all the wealth that Palwasha has. Again, this track is so so boring that I don’t see its importance in the story altogether!
It was cringe worthy seeing Resham & Zardab having cheesy conversations considering the fact that Resham was still someone’s wife. What happened with Zardab as well as Dilawar by the end of this latest episode didn’t really surprise me because both these brothers didn’t have basic common sense. In the setting that they belong, they knew really well that they’d easily get killed but still they chose to think of themselves as heroes which they weren’t. All those slow-mo scenes were cringe++ plus there was an absence of the thing known as acting. The director has actually tried really hard to make it all very theatrical & dramatic but he has failed actually. I wish they had used a better sound effect for punches because that’s the kind of sound that you get when you hit a fly with a flyswatter.
Closing Thoughts – Poor Editing:
Deedan has turned out to be a disappointment which was something that I just didn’t expect considering the kind of actors that have agreed to work in it. The editing of this drama is poor too & the story is worse because there’s nothing new or interesting that they’re showing. The director has relied heavily on the locations which definitely are easy on eyes but what can be done when the characters stick out as sore thumb & the story is bad. I wish Sanam Saeed hadn’t made Resham look so glamorous & made-up. In a drama like Sang e Marmar we all saw how the actors stayed true to their Pukhtoon characters by relying on no makeup & basic hairstyles but here it’s a totally different story. Resham’s hairstyles are a bit too well made for a girl who is on the run & her makeup doesn’t budge either which is why it is hard to feel for her character & she is the only one who doesn’t give an authentic Pukhtoon vibe & looks too modern despite trying hard. In one of the scenes where she was running, her joggers were in the frame too, lol. Editors should’ve done their job well. Also yes, Laila Zuberi has so much of experience at acting but it is actually amusing to see her how badly she has acted. Anyways, please share your thoughts about these episodes of Deedan.
Ohkay so, the production of 9th Degree Entertainment, direction of Amin Iqbal & writing of Atiya Daood; Deedan is a drama airing on A Plus Entertainment from last 3 weeks. It is a love story set in the North of Pakistan where the love that Zardab & Resham have for each other is tested & they go through thick & thin.
Characters & Dynamics:
Resham (Sanam Saeed), the only daughter of Shafi Ullah (Rasheed Naz) is in love with Zardab (Mohib Mirza) but her father does not approve. Zardab does not have enough money to hand it over to Resham’s father in order to ask for the proposal but he is definitely trying hard to save the amount Shafi Ullah demands. Resham & Zardab are hopelessly in love with each other & have some dreams where they picture themselves together in the future but unfortunately, the luck is not on their side.
Resham has a best friend Palwasha (Minsa Malik) & she is the only support Resham has as she wants to see Resham & Zardab happy together. Things get complicated when Gulbaz Khan (Ajab Gul) asks for Resham’s hand for his son Shehbaz Khan (Hassan Noman) & not only that, both the father & son duo promise to pay Shafi Ullah the amount he demands. That is when Shafi Ullah accepts their proposal & tells Resham that she has to get married to Shehbaz Khan.
Resham tries to elope with Zardab as that’s the only option they deem right but unfortunately, Shafi Ullah doesn’t let that happen. He not only isolates Resham but also lies to her that he killed Zardab & because Shafi Ullah had shot Zardab before, Resham doesn’t find it hard to believe that her father could actually kill him. Zardab does send his brother Dilawar Khan (Tipu Sharif) to ask for Resham’s proposal but Shafi Ullah rejects for his own selfish reasons.
Shebaz Khan is the only son of his parents who works hard in Dubai to support them. His mother Gul Makai (Huma Nawab) always asks her husband to get her son married so that his wife takes care of the household chores. Unfortunately, Resham gets married to Shebaz Khan & even before he leaves, Resham gets to know that she has only come to this house as a care-taker of his parents & there’s nothing more to it. Gul Makai acts like a typical mother in law who now has found a maid in the form of her daughter in law. Shafi Ullah tries to maintain a healthy relationship with Resham but she refuses to do that as she hasn’t been able to forgive her father for what he has done.
Resham’s hardships are far from being over & her patience will be tested again & again but unfortunately, she won’t have anyone to come to her rescue. Resham also misunderstands her best friend Palwasha & thinks that she told her father about Zardab & without even letting her explain, she cut ties with her. Resham only had one friend who actually sympathized with her but Resham’s impulsive attitude pushes her away as well. Palwasha on the other hand gets a proposal of her childhood friend Aalam Zaib (Sarfaraz Ashraf) & looks like she will leave for Karachi, leaving Resham all alone.
Closing Thoughts – Visual Treat:
So far, Deedan has had a decent start & there isn’t anything new to the story or characters but it is a done deal that the dynamics are about to change with the twist of Shehbaz Khan’s death in the next episode. If not for anything else, Deedan should definitely be watched for the phenomenal camera work that the director has relied on in order to do justice to the beauty of scenic locations that this drama is set in. Deedan surely is well directed visual treat with equally amazing acting done by all the actors. It is commendable how all of them have paid special attention to their accents, it definitely shows the amount of effort that everyone has put into the portrayal of their characters. So far not much focus has been given to the personalities of all these characters & because of that it seems I have started watching this drama mid-way but I hope we get to see more shades in the future episodes. The OST is really nice & I love the opening title & graphics too. Definitely interested to see how the rest of the story will unfold. I certainly had a great time watching these episodes as they have been executed brilliantly. Please share your thoughts about these first 3 episodes of Deedan.
