His next delivery Border (1997) arose as a basic and business achievement, acquiring him the Filmfare Best Debut Award and a selection for Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. Akshaye Khanna is the second son of Hindi actor and politician Vinod Khanna and he is the younger brother of actor Rahul Khanna. He attended Bombay International School. He then did his junior college at St.Lawrence, Ooty. His mother, Geetanjali Taleyarkhan, was a Parsi.
Khanna rose to the list of prominent actors with a starring role in the melodic sentimental film Taal (1999), the comedy-drama movie Dil Chahta Hai (2001) which won him a Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor, the sentimental spine chiller movie Humraaz (2002) for which he was nominated in the Best Negative Role category, the romantic comedy film Hungama (2003) and Hulchul (2004), the murder mystery movie 36 China Town (2006), the action spine chiller film Race (2008) and the heist comedy movie Tees Maar Khan (2010), and he kept on attracting acclaim for his eminent performance in the 1999 romantic film Dahek, the 2002 psychological thriller movie Deewangee, the 2007 biographical drama Gandhi, My Father and the 2010 action thriller film Aakrosh.

Khanna’s first release of 1999 came opposite Aishwarya Rai in Rishi Kapoor’s directorial debut—the musical romance Aa Ab Laut Chalen. His next film appearance was in Shrikant Sharma’s romance Laawaris opposite Manisha Koirala. The film received positive reviews but it did not make good money at the box office.
Akshaye Khanna is not on any social media platform. He is not known to speak out or give many interviews, and he is also not seen at many social awards within Bollywood as well. All this is unusual for a film actor in the 21st century. But for Akshaye, it is a conscious call that he has taken in order to be, what he calls, a ‘low-profile movie star’.
While giving an interview to a well-known newspaper Akshaye Khanna says that his look in ‘Sab Kushal Mangal’ is being compared to his father Vinod Khanna’s looks from his early days.
