Nadia shared that she had breast cancer and she had surgery before she went through 12 rounds of chemo. She revealed that most of her family could not be with her due to Covid. She also revealed that she got sepsis after one of the procedures and she was in a coma. She could not even walk after that but Allah blessed her and she became healthy again.

Hina Bayat just went through some very difficult times in her life as she lost her husband Haji Roger Dawood Bayat to cancer earlier this year. A very strong person, Haji Roger Dawood Bayat fought cancer for over a year after his diagnosis and left this mortal world with his mark on everyone he met.
Hina Bayat has been an inspiration for everyone who has lost a loved one as she has been super strong and even went to Syria and Turkey to help the earthquake victims after losing her husband. Hina Bayat was a guest on Nida Yasir’s show and shared some unknown facts about her husband.
She shared that years before she lost her husband, she got a spiritual message that she will go through something difficult as Allah wants her to love him the most. She said that at that point she had not understood the message but now she does.

Jhok Sarkar is a new Hum Television drama serial. The drama is written by Hashim Nadeem who wrote Parizaad and Khuda Aur Mohabbat. The drama is directed by Sang E Mar Mar famed Saifee Hassan. Momina Duraid is the producer of the show. The cast includes Farhan Saeed, Hiba Bukhari, Maham, Faiza Gillani, Asif Raza Mir and others. Farhan Saeed is playing the character of a police officer in the drama.
Today, the first episode of the drama Jhok Sarkar aired. Well, drama serial Jhok Sarkar is getting mixed public reviews. Fans are talking about the drama in detail. They are also critically analyzing the first episode of the drama. A lot of fans said that the drama is giving Badshah Begum vibes. A fan said that it is giving old PTV drama Sassi vibes. Another social media user compared drama with Ulloo Baraey Fatokht Nahi which was an old Hum TV serial. Few fans loved the cast but didn’t like the story, the others loved the story but said, ‘the cast is not as per the characters’. I must say that after watching the teasers and promos of Jhok Sarkar, I was looking forward to this one more than any other upcoming drama. In fact after watching the latest promo, I was wondering if Jhok Sarkar will be the next Parizaad! Yes, Parizaad set the bar really high because it was one of those rare dramas which are both meaningful and intriguing. It also proved that the right casting can completely change the final outcome. Did this first episode live up to my expectations? Unfortunately not! I am actually disappointed after watching this first episode because it was so ‘basic’. However, I have faith in the Jhok Sarkar team and I am hoping that the drama will pick up in the upcoming episode.
I can’t help but compare this first episode with that of Neem because I watched that one only yesterday. I ended up watching Neem twice after watching it when it aired and every time I found myself appreciating the well-written dialogues and the overall feel of the drama even more. Neem’s first episode won me over instantly. Whereas, Jhok Sarkar’s first episode was not as impressive perhaps because I was expecting the Punjab culture to be reflected in the same way as the Kashmiri dialectic was integrated into Neem’s first episode. Having said that, a first episode never determines how a drama would turn out to be in the long run. Some of the dramas start off strong but end up disappointing and there are others such as Ehd-e-Wafa which take off late but impress overall.
Circumstances In Jhok Sial
This first episode of Jhok Sarkar opened by introducing the part of the story which was set in a rural area. As the story progresses, it seems that this part of the story will be the focus of attention. The opening scene showed Sassi (Hiba Bukhari) and Noori (Mamia) having a conversation which revealed details about Noori’s track more than Sassi’s. Sassi came across as a simple girl who would never take the kind of step Noori was taking. Noori on the other hand had more guts even though she knew she was getting herself in grave danger. Saving herself and breaking free was the main theme in this conversation more than eloping for love alone. This opening scene highlighted the environment of control and the class divides.
I must say that the make-up of both these actresses in this scene proved to be a major distraction. Hiba Bukhari had a full face of make-up and her performance unfortunately remains the same irrespective of the role she plays in a drama. I hope Sassi’s character will be written well because Hiba does not bring much to the table. I was hoping Saife Hassan’s direction might make a difference but clearly Hiba Bukhari has a certain style of acting which remains the same in every drama. Am I the only one who feels that her expressions were confusing in this scene? While she was trying really hard to look fearful, she also had a smirk on her face. The accents of both actresses did not have the Punjabi touch as well. They sounded very ‘shehri’ from their accents.
Meeral (Usman Javed) and the police officer’s scene was the next important scene in this episode which gave more information about the change in the system which might affect those who enjoy all the power and influence in Jhok Sial. This conversation highlighted who was running the show in Jhok Sial and how confident they were about continuing to do so. Meeral’s dialogues indicated he was a spoiled rich brat who knew he will never be held accountable for his actions. This was a well-acted out scene that reflected the complete reliance of the police force on these landlords.
The scenes from Peeral Saeein’s (Asif Raza Mir) haveli were quite surprisingly as thanday as some of the other scenes in this episode. I was really looking forward to watching Asif Raza Mir on-screen again but his character or its aura was not as impactful as I was hoping it would be. One thing common between Peeral and Meeral was their confidence. They knew they were going to continue to be in control irrespective of the circumstances. The scenes from the haveli also gave an insight into Peeral’s personal life. He has two wives, Zulekha (Faiza Gillani) is the younger one who was introduced as a controlling woman, and the other older one (Sakina Samo) looked more ‘polished’ but disturbed owing to her circumstances.
ASP Arsalan’s Track
In this episode, Arsalan’s (Farhan Saeed) track was shown completely separately because he just got the rank and is yet to be appointed in Jhok Sial. The scenes covering his track showed that Arsalan did not come from an affluent background. The success he had achieved was a huge deal for his family and they valued it greatly. He is the only son who is hardworking and self-made. His conversation with his fiancé/ love interest (Mahenur Haider) also showed that he believed in earning whatever he owned and was not interested in expensive gifts or luxuries. This track did not get a lot of screen time because the focus was primarily on the Noori/Shaukat track and everything that was happening in Jhok Sial. After watching all those powerful promos with those dhuwandar dialogues, the introduction to Arsalan’s character did not live up to the expectations.
Final Remarks
Surprisingly, this first episode was not impactful and even some of the most powerful actors such as Asif Raza Mir and Farhan Saeed lacked screen presence. I also felt that there was an excessive focus on Noori and Shaukat; screen time was not divided evenly among all the characters. Also, even though this episode covered a great deal, it was not engaging enough.

The episode highlighted the importance of education and people are loving the story. One more thing that people loved were the locations the drama has been shot in. People are generally loving the vibe of Neem as it brings something unique to the table.
The Pakistani drama industry is considered as one of the best despite producing some really bad scripts in the past few years. The fan following and viewership is massive and one can become a star overnight if their project clicks with the audience. Now-a days we are looking at the massive increase in the popularty of Wahaj Ali, an actor who has been working for many years now and he has given consistent performances throughout his career but Tere Bin is what did it for him. Similarly, Mohabbat Gumshua Meri is another drama that has gained good ratings and eyeballs and the whole young cast is being appreciated.

This first episode of Neem was actually much more promising than I was expecting it to be. The main female lead Zimal (Mawra Hocane) stood out more than any other character in this first episode. Zimal reminded me of Rohi from Mor Maharan. We need to see progressive female leads in dramas therefore I will be tuning into the next episode for Zimal more than any other character. The promos of the drama suggested that Neem was going to be another love story but after watching this episode, I am certain that the writer had a definite purpose in mind while penning this script. I just hope that he will be able to do justice to all the issues which he is aiming to raise in the drama.
I have been desperately waiting for a meaningful drama that is also entertaining. Most of dramas nowadays are either completely meaningless or are overdramatic. Some of the dramas such as Kuch Ankahi and Mere Ban Jao which started off strong turned into drag fests! There isn’t much worth watching on television at the moment therefore I have decided to watch every new drama that airs and review episodes that I feel are worth talking about.
The Characters and Main Theme
The story of the drama is based in a remote area of Kashmir where there is a huge class divide. Zimal represents hope as she actively wants to be an agent of change whereas Karamat Khan (Syed Jibran) is clearly shown as someone who wants things to stay as they are. These two characters in this first episode came across as black and white. However, this difference in thinking and their personalities was shown convincingly. I hope that we will get to see different layers of these characters as the story moves forward. There were several scenes in this episode that suggested that this would be a story of good vs. evil. It was pretty evident who is on which side after watching this first episode.
Zimal is engaged to Shazil (Arsalan Naseer) that is all the information that was given in this episode regarding these two. Their interaction however was cute; it also showed that Zimal’s relationships were quite different from the suffocating environment in Karamat’s house. Even though Zimal is an orphan, she has a brother who loves her, and baba jaan (Yousuf Bashir Qureshi) has a positive and progressive influence on her. Given the circumstances, it was rather odd that Ashhad (Ameer Gillani) even considered getting married to Zimal.
Teachers as Mentors
The opening scene of this first episode set the tone for what was coming ahead. I loved the parting lecture by Sir Mairaj (Manzar Sehbai). The interaction between Zimal and her teacher went to show how her life and vision changed because of the influence of this one teacher who set out to make a change. In a conversation with baba jaan later on, she also talked about why people should actually be opting for the teaching profession.
Dialogues and Screenplay
The dialogues and screenplay in this first episode were right on point. Right after Zimal uttered “agr kisi ki zindagi ki gaari ko ruka hua dekho tu thora dhaka lga du, shayad start ho jaie aur chal pare” dialogue, the viewers saw Asad (Shamil Khan) helping people out by giving them a ride in his jeep. The positive and negative nature of the characters was depicted intelligently through different scenes. After watching this episode there was no ambiguity regarding the thought process of all these characters. I just hope that the drama does not get too preachy because most of the conversations in this first episode had some meaning or the other. To be honest, after watching so many pointless dramas, I don’t mind the dialogues being preachy either as long as they are engaging. I also liked the use of the local dialectic in some of the scenes.
Final Remarks
I could relate to some of the scenes and scenarios in this episode on a personal level. I absolutely loved the way Kashif Anwar highlighted the true importance of educators in this episode. Those of us who are lucky enough have been blessed with teachers who acted as mentors and opened new avenues for us. Sometimes these teachers underestimate their own powers as an agent of change. This is especially relevant nowadays when education is fast turning into a business.
There were some scenes in which I felt there were continuity issues and the transition from one scene to the other was not too smooth. Overall, however, just like always Shahzad Kashmiri’s amazing direction did not fail to impress. He captured the beauty of the locations in the best manner possible. The television scene was well shot but it was rather strange to see that tiny television in such an affluent household. Zimal’s outfit when she was leaving for Lahore and her overall look was slightly outdated considering her background and overall personality. Also, I couldn’t help but wonder why
Mawra Hocane owned her character in this first episode. Her performance was both effortless and engaging. She made Zimal’s character extremely likable. Syed Jibran nails every character he plays and this is the kind of character he has played before as well. However, he has a definite screen presence and I liked his overall look for the role. He was convincing as the uncouth and entitled man who thinks he owns the world. It is also good to see Ameer Gillani experimenting even though he could easily have settled down for another typical role but he chose to do something different. His performance and outlook both were impressive for the most part. The actor playing Jamil’s role also played his part well. Yousuf Bashir Qureshi is such a pleasant addition to the drama industry. He is well-suited for the role he is playing in Neem. Shamil Khan’s character and his performance both were another likable aspect.
This first episode definitely had a lot going for it. The casting, writing, and direction for the most part were impressive. Did you watch it? Do share your views.

Pakistan drama industry is blessed with many talented actors who are one of the main reasons why Pakistani dramas have made their mark all around the world. Rabya Kulsoom is one such actress who started her acting journey in 2017. Even though Rabya’s mother Parveen Akbar is a well-established actress, she had to make her way through the industry on her own. Lately, with popular drama serials such as Fraud and Mujhe Pyaar Hua Tha to her credit, Rabya Kulsoom’s talent is being recognized by viewers more than it was in the past. Little or No Recognition from the Industry
You know that an actor is underrated when they are not being promoted by channels and producers. This is proof that these drama makers do not value the actor. Even though Rabya has the ability to turn an ordinary supporting role into one that is not only noticed but also appreciated by the public at large, she has never been recognized for that talent.
Pakistani producers usually rely on strong main leads and these actors are promoted. Even though supporting actors play a pivotal role in making or breaking a project, their importance is always undermined by the production houses. Unless a producer wants to see an actor playing a leading role in one of their upcoming projects, he will not ‘invest’ in a supporting actor. Love Stories Based on Class Differences
It can be safely stated that the producers are convinced that people love stories based on class differences. We have watched innumerable dramas in the recent past showing a rich man falling for a girl from a poor background. We have also watched many dramas in which poor girls leave their husbands to marry affluent men. Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida gave a different spin to this concept by showing that a rich woman who fell in love with a man decided to strike a deal with his wife so that she could marry him. This drama serial was clearly a copy of the Bollywood film Judai. While Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida was criticized, it also got the ratings, that the producers were aiming for.
Ehraam e Junoon vs Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida
Since showing a rich young lady falling for a poor man was a new spin on an old story and it worked well for the producers, this idea was bound to be copied. Obviously, when production houses copy script ideas, they do not copy them altogether, they do make certain changes. Ehraam e Junoon producers did just that! They made certain changes in the storyline but the main plot of the drama is definitely the same as Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida. Since Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida showed such a ‘specific’ situation for the first time, there is no doubt that the producers of Ehraam e Junoon requested the writer to copy the story without making it too obvious!
Here are some of the most obvious similarities in the dramas which clearly show that the premise of the story and the main characters in Ehraam e Junoon has been copied from Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida.
Papa Ki Pari
Shafaq vs Shanzay
Is it a coincidence that the names of the leading ladies in both these dramas are similar? We think not! Not only are the names similar but the character traits are more or less the same too. Here is why:
Similarities:
1: Shafaq and Shanzay both have an abundance of wealth but crave love.
2: They are both papa ki paris. Even though Shafaq’s relationship with her father was more loving, Shanzay’s father may not be available like Shafaq’s but he will do anything required to please his princess.
3: Shafaq fell for Shahaan instantly and for no obvious reasons. Shanzay is no different. Even though Shani told her off so many times, her junoon lacks reasoning.
4: The attraction both these rich, educated women feel towards these men comes across as illogical and desperate. The only reasoning is that they are desperate for love and somehow they are convinced that only these men can give them this love.
5: Shafaq was Shahaan’s boss and Shanzay is Shani’s boss.
6: Both of them think there is more ‘sakoon’ in those underprivileged houses than in their grand mansions.
Differences
While Shafaq’s love for Shahaan was shown as ‘true love’ (even though it was unconvincing), Shanzay’s love for Shani can easily pass as madness. The more he insults her, the more she is convinced that he is “amazing”! Shahaan never insulted Shafaq or told her off the way Shani has right from the start therefore the attraction made ‘ a little’ sense.
The treatment given to both these characters is poles apart as well. While Shafaq was convincing as the rich woman who had it all, Shanzay’s character lacks class and is a little too over the top. Mansha Pasha added the kind of class which made Shafaq’s character likable even with all its flaws. Neelam Munir’s caked-up makeup and fake acting definitely promote madness more than class. Sometimes we find ourselves wondering ke naye naye ameer hui hein Shanzay baji.
Shafaq lost her mother, Shanzay’s mother is alive but not present in her life. Therefore, the reasons why both these women are lonely and desperate for love are completely different. Overall, although both these characters have their weaknesses, Shanzay is definitely more annoying than Shafaq maybe because of her khaa janay wali nazrein.

Ulfat vs Sajeela
Ulfat from Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida was an unforgettable character for many reasons. She had a presence and the overdramatic manner in which Sonya Hussyn translated this character on-screen made it the talk of the town. Also, the fact that many viewers felt Sonya Hussyn copied Sri Devi’s style from the Bollywood film Judai made it the topic of debate as well. Ulfat sold her husband for money and later on regretted her decision. Sajeela from Ehraam e Junoon is basically playing the same role as Ulfat in Shayan/Shani’s life.
Similarities
1: Ulfat and Sajeela share a fascination for wealth. Both of them equate happiness with materialistic gain and luxuries.
2: Both of them are male leads’ cousins. Shahaan was Ulfat’s bachpan ka pyar and Sajeela is Shani’s.
Differences
While Ulfat’s love for Shahaan was more genuine and despite her materialistic nature, this character was not flat. It was a layered character with some degree of entertainment value and appeal. Sajeela on the other hand does not seem to love Shani at all and there is nothing likable about this character. She is more like Mehwish from Mere Pass Tum Ho. Also, Sonya Hussyn acted out her character impeccably, while Nimra Khan’s performance makes her character even more annoying.

Shahaan vs Shayan
The Shfactor continues as the names of the male leads are just as similar as the female leads in both dramas. There is much more that they have in common. Here is the proof:
Similarities
1: Both these men belong to the lower middle class and are constantly trying hard to make ends meet.
2: They are the sole breadwinners who are continuously under pressure to provide for their families.
3: Both of them are committed and deeply in love with their partners.
4: Shahaan and Shayan both are not attracted to wealth. The fact that their young, beautiful, rich female bosses are in love with them does not excite them!
Differences
While Shahaan from Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida was married, Shayan is only engaged. Shahaan was open about his marital status but Shayan is still hiding the truth from Shanzay. No matter how annoyed he is with her, he does not tell her that he is committed. Shahaan was a more playful, light-hearted character while Shayan is a serious man with rigid principles. Other than that everything else about these characters is pretty much the same.
Supporting Characters in Both Dramas
Some of the supporting characters in Ehraam e Junoon are also a little too similar to the ones we already saw in Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida. These were important supporting characters that helped change the direction of the story.

Sweet and Simple Mothers of The Male Leads
Not only are Shahaan and Shayan mailay mein bichray hue bhai but their mothers are also quite similar. Shahaan’s mother’s character always stood out because she was a gentle, loving, simple, and sensible single mother. Shayan’s mother is the same as well and we feel that Ismat Zaidi was specially directed to portray this character on screen, the same way Sajida Syed did in Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida.
Best Friend With No Story of His Own
Shahaan had Mansoor as that one friend who could see that the rich boss had fallen for his friend way before Shahaan had a clue. He was always there to put certain ideas in Shahaan’s mind and played an important role in the story. Usually, such supporting characters do not stand out but this one did only because Mansoor was a very important part of Shahaan’s life. The same is the case with Shayan, his friend is always there, he knows exactly what is going on and he keeps on reminding Shayan about the importance of Shanzay’s interest in him even though he has told him off repeatedly! Both these characters have no track or story of their own which is rather a peculiar similarity.
Final Thoughts
It is crystal clear that Ehraam e Junoon producers definitely copied the main plot of Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, which itself was not an original idea. Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida was over-dramatic as well but Ehraam e Mohabbat took this dramatic effect to the next level by making all the characters look like ghosts because of the white foundations and heavy make-up coupled with filters. Not only this, the writer of Ehraam e Mohabbat did not even try to make the characters appealing. Even with all its illogical situations Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida’s characters were grey and there was something likable about each one of the leading characters.
If you are watching Ehraam e Junoon and have not watched Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida, we would suggest you give it a go because it is ‘better’ than the copy. Although, the storyline of both dramas does not deserve appreciation Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida is better executed and far more entertaining. Ehraam e Junoon is already banking on flashback scenes. Also, the makeovers and performances of the actors in Ehraam e Junoon come across as fake and you just cannot take the drama seriously. Even some of the best actors are acting like they don’t know the craft in Ehraam e Junoon. It also has the worst supporting cast.
It remains to be seen whether Ehraam e Junoon will take the same route as Mohabbat Tujhe Alvida in the upcoming week. Will Shanzay try to take her own life like Shafaq and that will turn out to be the determining factor? Will Sajeela also ‘sell’ her fiance off like Ulfat? It seems highly likely that all of this could happen in the next few weeks!
We hope that there will be no more copies of this storyline because there is enough toxicity in our dramas as it is!
