A 33-year-old boxer from Pishin passed away on Sunday after being punched on face by a rival boxer during an event organized by Pakistan Boxing Council at a local club in Karachi. Mohammad Aslam, who was known as a kick-boxer, was contesting against Mohammad Wali in cruise weight category bout during “Fight Night Series” on Saturday. The boxer was knocked by a left hook during the bout. While he immediately fell unconscious. Some eye-witnesses mentioned that Aslam was immediately taken to a private hospital at stadium road where he was shifted to ICU. However, he passed away on Sunday afternoon.
The Pakistan Boxing Federation (PBF) has condemned the event and has disassociated itself from the organizers and termed the event as illegal. “We have no connection with this so-called professional boxing council; nothing is being done with our approval. We cannot compromise on safety of our boxers,” Col Nasir Tung, secretary general of Pakistan Boxing Federation told Geo Super.
The PBF has also formed a two-member committee, comprising Asghar Baloch and Younis Pathan, to find the details of the incident. Expressing his grief over the tragic episode, Pakistan’s top professional boxer Mohammad Waseem demanded that government should take immediate action against those responsible for this accident.

Amir Khan’s father Sajjad Khan and his wife Falak both rubbished claims by their daughter-in-law that they mental and physically abused her and said they treated her like their own daughter.
Sajjad Khan told GEO news: “Faryal was adopting a dress code which in the Islamic faith was not acceptable. I am a father to two daughters whom I have treated exactly the same way as I have treated Faryal.” Sajjad said he did not say anything to Faryal, but instead asked his son to address the issue with his wife .
“All this started with the issue of dressing. We kept asking Amir to tell her not to adopt such a dress code. And even if she had to wear such dresses, please don’t post it on social media,” he said.

He went on to say he did not know why Faryal decided to make the “false accusations” but they always “made efforts for reconciliation between Amir and Faryal,”

Since the coronavirus has affected the entire world and causes casulaties without differentiating in caste or color, people are becoming united against the pandemic to overcome it.
Pakistan too, is in its race to find a cure for coronavirus and save thousands of its affected population. To help Pakistan in its war against corona, boxer Amir Khan has pledged to donate Rs40 million. According to Amir Khan, the money will be used for the welfare of the poor during the lockdown in Pakistan because of the rapid spread of coronavirus.
Amir Khan Foundation will make sure to distribute ration and other necessary things among the poor in Pakistan.
And not only that, because of the shortage of quarantine centers in Pakistan, Amir has also offered to use his boxing academy in Islamabad as a centre.
“I want to help the government of Pakistan as they assist the patients affected by coronavirus,” he said stating,the gymnasium of his boxing academy could serve as perfect quarantine for corona infected patients.
Earlier, the 33 year old British-Pakistani boxer Amir offered his private property to Britain’s National Health Service to facilitate corona infected patients.

Following up with the Kardashian drama is easier than following up the Amir-Faryal drama. These two are quite a pair, to say the least. From the public break up to hopes of a patch up to a final goodbye to having a second baby on the way, they have kept everyone on their toes but honestly speaking, they just lost respect of themselves in the public eye because of it all. But the silver lining is that they did remind us the importance of private conversations, and privacy. His lawyers might argue that his cash is tied up in family businesses and investments but that will make no difference apart from to draw the process out.
He will be told to break-up any firms and sell any investments to make sure he can pay the money into court.
Furthermore, Amir could lose the custody of his daughter and the unborn child.
Amir Khan is a British Pakistani boxer whom we have seen performing his best in rights and has been a world champion in his career. He became famous after he won a medal in the 2004 Olympics and then had fights with all the heavy weights of the game in his career. Pakistanis have supported Amir’s career a lot and he has received a lot of love from them even after his retirement which he announced last year.
Amir Khan has taken retirement from the world of boxing but the athlete has now been banned from the sport for two years as he was positive on an anti-doping test during his last fight with Kell Brook.
Amir was found positive for taking ostarine, a substance which has similar effects as testosterone. Amir has thus been banned from boxing from April 2022 to April 2024.
The athlete has, however, clarified that he had taken the substance well before the fight and in a very small amount and thus it had no effect on his fight. He also said that he is retired and has no plans to make a comeback thus a ban is not really understandable. He said while talking to Sky Sports:
“I’ve never cheated. But I’ve got a two-year ban now, which is quite strange and funny because I’m already retired anyway. There’s no comeback planned at all. But I’ve never cheated and I never will. That’s just not something I would do.”

Boxer Amir Khan and Faryal Makhdoom on Sunday met Aseefa and Bakhtawar, the daughters of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto in Dubai. Amir Khan shared some boxing tips and trained them as well.
Speaking to Geo Tv from Dubai, Amir was all praises for the sisters.
“I met Bakhtawar and Aseefa through my wife Faryal and they invited me to Lahore. We had some food with them and had a great time with them. They are really really nice people, [their] hospitality was amazing,” Amir said.
“We went to the gym; as Bakhtawar trains and she loves boxing so I trained her with the coach, helped her. We learnt boxing and everything. She did great. Honestly, she boxes very good. She is very strong. She is very committed and very focused.”
“Bakhtawar loves boxing and I trained with her in the gym,” he said, adding that she gifted him and his wife the autobiography of her mother, “Daughter of Destiny”.
Eid holidays are over now and reports of film business from various sources are publishing in papers. In Pakistan traditionally there is no concrete mechanism to know the exact earning of a film. In traditional single screen cinemas, tickets are issued manually so it is near impossible to estimate the total business generated form a film in such cinema. However with the arrival of multiplexes which maintain the records of tickets sold, now a near estimate of the film total business is easily established. Usually the owner of these multiplexes issue the business generated by a film in their chain of multiplexes, which sums up the total business of the film. This method is not fool proof. Surprisingly for some unknown reason film producers in Pakistan seldom release any statement about the total revenue their film.
This Eid many films were released including Hollywood, Bollywood, Urdu, Punjabi and Pashto.

Various papers (English and Urdu) have published the reports on films business. As per these reports three main films Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Wrong Number and Bin Roye are running full house in all major cities during the Eid Holidays as well on this weekend.
Like always leading the way is the Bollywood film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Bollywood films have always been the preferred choice of majority of the Pakistani cine goers in any circumstances, a fact proven once again on this Eid. Bollywood films always receive overwhelming reception in Multiplexes (located in posh areas) as well as traditional single screen cinemas (located in old/inner city areas), making them the unanimous choice of all sections of the society. As per press/net reports Bajrangi Bhaijaan is released on a total of 171 (approx.) screens nationwide. In many areas (mostly single screen cinemas) the demand was so high that cinema owners have cancelled the shows of Urdu films Bin Roye and Wrong Number and allotted the same time slot to Bajrangi Bhaijaan. In some multiplexes, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is allocated more shows in the upcoming week replacing the shows of Hollywood’s Antman. The trend is expected to continue on coming weekends until a new Bollywood film is screened to fill the appetite of Bollywood films. Like any other Bollywood film released in Pakistan, Bajrangi Bhaijaan is ahead in the race by a wide margin.
Following Bajrangi Bhaijaan after a big gap, are the two Urdu films Wrong Number and Bin Roye which are on second and third place respectively. Wrong Number is slightly ahead of Bin Roye in terms of number of screens and business. Wrong Number was released on 87 (approx.) screens while Bin Roye is released on 81 (approx.) screens nationwide. In comparison Bajrangi Bhaijaan is released on more screens (171) alone than the combined total (87 + 81 = 168) of the two Urdu films Wrong No. and Bin Roye indicating the massive appeal of the Bollywood films among Pakistani audience.
As per the English Daily The News, Bin Roye is leading in Islamabad, while in Karachi Wrong No. is ahead. An interesting general analysis is that men are loving Wrong Number and hating Bin Roye, women are loving Bin Roye and hating Wrong Number.
The healthy trend on this Eid is that the audience have also endorsed Pakistani Urdu films while supporting Bollywood film. Both the Urdu films Bin Roye and Wrong No, are running full house during the Eid holidays in whatever space and time is allotted to them. As per Nadeem Mandwiwala, the head of Mandwiwala Entertainment the success of Pakistani films is attributed to the aggressive marketing campaign rather than the content of these films.
The Punjabi films have done average business. Four out of the seven Pashto films released are declared hit while rest are doing average business.

Box office success for the trilogy of Eid films
Running House Full: Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Bin Roye and Wrong Number have all resonated well with Eid audiences.
Salman Khan has been forgiven his sins. He must have worried how his May conviction and sentencing to 5 years in prison for a 2002 hit-and-run homicide might have dampened the prospects for his movie. But like India’s courts, the country’s movie going audience gave the megastar a stay of appeal, supporting Bajrangi Bhaijaan with the biggest opening weekend ever for Khan and the 3rd biggest in Indian box office history. According to cinema owners in Pakistan, the film has resonated just as well with the Pakistani public, threatening Ant Man with an early exit. The good thing is, local releases Bin Roye and Wrong Number have been running just as successfully as Bajrangi Bhaijaan.
“An extraordinary audience turns up over Eid and all films are running full house,” Film producer, distributor and cinema owner (Atrium in Karachi and Centaurus in Islamabad) Nadim Mandviwalla shared with Instep. “Wrong Number is doing better in Karachi and Islamabad has shown a higher demand for Bin Roye. But this is a result of marketing hype not content. The Eid influence remains 9 days, which we see in advance booking, and we’ll see full effect of all films by Monday.”
An interesting general analysis is that men are loving Wrong Number and hating Bin Roye, women are loving Bin Roye and hating Wrong Number whereas Bajrangi Bhaijaan has shown universal appeal.
