Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan Support Pakistani Artists

0

After the recent moves by Indian extremist part Shiv Sena top actors like Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan think it is vital that they speak up against the extreme behaviour of the party. Shiv Sena recently declared that they will do every possible thing to ensure that Pakistanis do not get to work in India. They also threatened Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan who are both going to be seen in Bollywood films soon.

Shah Rukh Khan who usually tries to stay away from controversy thought that this was a time when he needed to take a stand for all Pakistanis working in India and for his co-star Mahira Khan in particular who is playing the role in his upcoming film Raees. While talking to the press Shah Rukh Khan said,

“It is so silly. What do creative people have to do with this? The politics of two countries can be handled by the politicians. How does this inter-culture exchange of artists between two countries [which was one country some years ago] change anything.”

shahrukh

He also said that Mahira Khan was part of his film which means she had the right to work in India. When asked if he was afraid people will criticize him for defending Pakistani artists he said,

“By what standard can I be unpatriotic? I’m an Indian movie star. I was born in India, I’m… Indian. To all saying go to Pakistan, and leave India I just say shut up.”

salman

Salman Khan also supported Pakistani content and Pakistani talent by saying,

“Now that everything is digital, Indians love to watch each and every entertainment show, including popular Pakistani shows . So, art and entertainment have no boundaries. Entertainment is evaluated by what common people want to watch.”

He also said,

“If someone wants a Pakistani actor who can portray a role better, nobody can put a constraint. Bollywood has a huge number of fans in Pakistan and earns a good share of income from the neighboring country.”

Diyar-e-Dil! <3

Ohkay so, it’s a Tuesday morning where I live & out of my habit of writing about Diyar-e-Dil on Tuesdays, I wanted to write my final article about it on the same day as well. Diyar-e-dil was like a journey for me which stirred my interest way back from its release as I read about it on reviewit.pk that soon enough we’ll be seeing a drama that will have Osman Khalid Butt & Maya Ali as a lead pair. That was the moment when I decided I wanted to review their drama because I enjoyed watching them together in Aunn Zara, so I was sure this drama would be special too, obviously being oblivious of the fact that it would become way more special than I ever imagined. :)

So, that was the first time I got to know about it & then came the promos that actually left me speechless. Back in my childhood & back in those PTV days, I saw an episode of travel guide where they explored the towns of Skardu & Gilgit & since then, it became a dream of mine to visit those places one day. So, to see my dream destinations in the promos of Diyar-e-Dil automatically drew my attention towards it & I knew already that I was in for a real treat. I guess ever since I have started watching Pakistani dramas with interest, this is the first time I saw a drama being shot in the territory of Baltistan. Yes, we do get to see a few dramas here & there that are shot in Murree or Abbottabad but this for me was the first & I couldn’t appreciate the creative team of Diyar-e-Dil enough to have taken such a huge step & that too in a very right direction where they effortlessly portrayed the beauty of Pakistan & allowed the viewers to fall in love with our very own northern areas. I must say the locations played a major part in making this drama a clear winner even before it started because it seemed promising, royal & very grand. It showed that the producers of Diyar-e-Dil paid utmost attention & wanted to make it a drama to remember. Honestly, in the last couple of years, we have come across a lot of dramas that were shot in USA, despite the fact that they were disastrous, they obviously promoted USA’s tourism, that is why, I loved Diyar-e-Dil for the fact that they took a chance & invested in promoting such such beautiful locations that belonged to Pakistan & opened a window for everyone to know the scenic beauty that Pakistan endorses.

Collage01

So, Diyar-e-Dil started & I got to know that it’s a novel which is now being dramatized & I had to make sure that I never got any spoiler alerts because I know a lot of people find it really hard to keep the story to themselves, some do it because they actually want to take away your charm & some do it unintentionally but honestly, I came across many such comments where people let me know that they were respecting my requests, which actually meant a lot to me. :)

I was new to the world of Diyar-e-Dil because I never had read the novel but the very first episode gave me an insight that it wasn’t going to be a one-dimensional drama in terms of story & we were in for a roller-coaster ride of emotions. The thing I loved the most about Diyar-e-Dil was that even though the story was pretty figurable, they still approached those situations with so much simplicity & depth of emotions that turned it into a beautiful journey. Before Diyar-e-Dil, I did review a few dramas where I actually craved to see a portrayal of human emotions, some insight into what was going through a character’s mind or what the character was feeling but that never happened & that is why I was actually ecstatic when I found out that Diyar-e-Dil was all about that, where it will deal with human emotions & their transitions throughout the journey.

I am so glad I got to watch a drama that was filled with such beautifully written characters that their struggles, their emotional moments & their journeys resonated with us & somehow we found ourselves in each one of them. That was the beauty of Diyar-e-Dil that they had such realistic situations that the characters went through, that made us relate to them on a very different level. I came across so many comments where people said the love Suhaib had for his elder brother Behroz reminded them of their siblings, Agha Jaan reminded them of their grandfathers, Ruhina during the initial part of the story reminded them of some unreasonable relatives they themselves had a bad experience with, Arjumand reminded them of their mothers who had to sacrifice so much for others to be happy & yes, Wali reminded them of all the qualities they wanted in their future husbands, hehe. :) Somehow, each & every character had a very realistic face to them that we all connected with them & understood them seamlessly.

Collage02

I loved Diyar-e-Dil for the fact that we somehow got a chance to grow alongside the clan of Agha Jaan. It was such a complete journey that covered the events of 25 years that Agha Jaan’s family experienced & may be that is why, we grew closer to them too, where we shed tears at Suhaib’s death, hated Ruhina for disrespecting Agha Jaan, loved Agha Jaan for his warmth & generosity, loved Wali for the way he took care of his family after the death of his father, felt for Behroz when he found himself all alone in his last days, respected Arjumand for how selfless she was, forgave Ruhina when she realized her mistakes & adored Faarah when she transitioned from an angry bird into a sensible young lady who wanted to be with her husband Wali. I must say, the drama-makers need to understand that the viewers still enjoy such dramas that have nothing to do with multiple marriages & we still love such dramas that are dramatized simply & beautifully, we still love such dramas that emphasize on the importance of blood relations & we still want to see more such dramas that highlight the fact that no matter how tough the circumstances may have been, a family can survive the toughest & be together in the end just because they come from a space of love & believe in forgiveness. After watching so many dramas that only had dusri biwi as an ultimate solution to all the problems, Diyar-e-Dil indeed came as a breath of fresh air because it had nothing to do with commercialized story-lines that are repackaged in order to grab the ratings. I really hope that the popularity of Diyar-e-Dil allows the drama-makers to see that viewers enjoy such decent dramas & compels the writers to come up with more such family-oriented stories as well.

For me, Diyar-e-Dil came at such a perfect time because during its show-time, I got to visit my family & then it became a family affair where my we all used to watch this drama together. I must say, I found myself lucky to have gotten a chance to enjoy it with my family especially my mother because we would cry together, laugh together & discuss it after the episode ended. At times, my mother or my sister would suggest what I shall speak about in my reviews & would later ask about the comments on the latest episode. During my vacation I was on the run & honestly speaking, I made sure I kept myself free or didn’t travel on Tuesdays because Diyar-e-Dil; drama & its review was that important for me & honestly, the support & encouragement that I got from my readers kept my motivated. :)

I think most of my readers by now have gotten to know about the love that I have for Korean Dramas & I am talking about them because I have a perspective to share. I actually like watching Korean dramas because they promote their culture, their norms, their traditions & their values without making it too obvious & they unconsciously make you fall in love with their lifestyle & honestly every other drama takes you to the world of its own & when it ends, it leaves you with a feeling of emptiness. They always shoot their dramas in the prime locations of Seoul City mostly to promote tourism. Their direction is flawless, their stories are always refreshing but can be simple too & their acting is always spot-on, that is why when I saw Diyar-e-Dil, I found it to be in the exact same league as Korean dramas because Diyar-e-Dil for me was a Pakistani version of the entertainment that I always found in Korean dramas. Diyar-e-Dil was all about family values, our culture, our family structures where they highlighted the fact that how head of the family is supposed to be respected & followed, it was a simple story that was elaborated beautifully with the backing of phenomenal acting, it was shot at such a location that obviously will catch viewers attention & promote tourism & that is why, for me Diyar-e-Dil was a complete package just like any other Korean drama that I have watched till date & yes, it did take me to a beautiful world of its own too & now when it has ended, I still feel like something pivotal is missing from my life. So yes, I am so glad that after Malal, Diyar-e-Dil is another such drama that I can watch numerous times & never get bored again & I so wish that Diyar-e-Dil proves to be a game changer which forces every single drama-maker to step up their game & vision when it comes to drama-making & story-telling.

Collage03

I must say, I wasn’t too impressed with Farhat Ishtiyaq’s Humsafar & that is why when Diyar-e-Dil started, I didn’t keep my expectations high but honestly speaking, I am glad I was proven wrong because she convinced me this time & this definitely is my favorite work of hers. I think a huge shout out should be given to the casting directors for choosing such a brilliant cast that owned the characters they were portraying & perfected them in every aspect & I believe all because of their hard work, Diyar-e-Dil became such a treat for us all. I must say, I have seen quite a few dramas of Sir Abid Ali but this for me was his best performance so far. He actually made us fall in love with Agha Jaan’s character that is why for me, he was the backbone of this drama. Ali Rehman was perfect as Suhaib & I felt gutted when his bit ended too soon in the drama. Osman Khalid Butt improved heaps as the episodes progressed & by the end he seemed much more comfortable as Wali making it obvious that no other actor could’ve done justice to that character like he did. Honestly speaking, I was skeptical about Hareem Farooq when I saw her in the promos but right from the beginning & the very first scene of Arjumand, she showed such a brilliant performance that was unexpected & now when the drama has ended, she proved herself every step of the way because she portrayed all the shades of Arjumand’s character & all the age brackets phenomenally. Maya Ali was brilliant as Faarah & I think as the episodes progressed she also got comfortable in her role & we saw a massive improvement in her acting especially in the second phase of her journey in the Haveli. Ahmed Zeb made a great villain & I am sure he has a bright future ahead because he was very convincing as Moeez. I so wish this whole team gathers once again & gives us another brilliant drama that will stay close to our hearts just like Diyar-e-Dil & oh a special shout out should be given to the music composer of the OST because it added to the beauty of the drama as it was a very powerful song, but I wish it was used more throughout the drama.

In the 32 reviews that I wrote (not 33 because my dear friend Areeba covered for me once I was away on a mini-trip), I believe we have discussed each & everything related to the characters & the story, that is why I have made this article about my journey, my thoughts on it that I didn’t share before, how I enjoyed watching it, how it kept me linked with it & how it never escaped my priority list. I have made it a very personal sort of article just in order to hear your side of the story too. I want you guys to share how did it change your entertainment world & what was it about Diyar-e-Dil that hit home for you? I am sure I’ll be hearing so many interesting stories that I can’t wait already. Oh, just so you know, it’s already Tuesday night here, yes, I started writing this article in the morning but I actually dedicated the whole day to reminisce about Diyar-e-Dil as I wanted to imbibe the fact properly that it’s going to be my final say on it, so I took my time. :) So please do share the beautiful journey that you’ve experienced with Diyar-e-Dil as I’d love to hear you guys out. :)

Cheers,

Mikaal Zulfiqar Wants To Introduce Explosive Ideas To Pakistani Drama Industry

0

Mikaal Zulfiqar is very well known as a host, model and an actor but what many people do not know is that this talented young man also stepped into production with the plays Maan and Tum Mere Kya Ho. Both these dramas have nothing new to offer but Mikaal has plans to do something different in the future. This was his first production so he thought it was better to play it safe. While talking to Instep Magazine Mikaal said,

“I am grateful to my team who helped me complete two serials back-to-back as producer. Yes, the stories are run-of-the-mill but when you don’t know the art (of production), you have to start with something that is familiar to the audience. Trust me, I am going to bring some explosive ideas to the screen in the next few months because that’s what our drama industry lacks.”

mikaal1

Apart from working in his country Mikaal has also done films in India. These films were not very popular and some of them have been subject of controversy too. This is what Mikaal had to say about his Bollywood career so far,

“You can call me unlucky when it comes to Bollywood, “My first film, Godfather, was an Indo-Pak production in 2006 and I got to work with Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan and many other experienced actors. Afterwards, I was offered a role in Shoot on Sight where Om Puri sahib and Naseeruddin Shah sahib were my co-stars. The film did well at the box office but soon after, the Mumbai attacks happened and despite having a few offers, I was left in a lurch – I didn’t have an Indian visa, nor any work in Pakistan. It was then that I realized that this might continue to happen in the future so I put a stop to my Bollywood aspirations and began working in Pakistan. Thankfully my decision helped and that’s one of the reasons why I have stayed away from films – both in India and Pakistan.”

mikaal

Talking about how his character looked and acted when he aged Mikaal said,

“Yaar that’s television and we aren’t that well-versed in the makeup department in Pakistan. “Things might be a little better in films; we still have a long way to go in terms of television. Haseeb Hasan has done a wonderful job with Dayar-e-Dil but if the audience didn’t like the aging thing, all I can say is that we will try to work on it in the future.”

ded1

Talking about what he has planned for the future Mikaal said,

“I am happy with my work on TV here and would love to carry Pakistan forward if I can – as an actor, producer and model. This country has given us a lot and we must ensure that this debt is paid back by delivering quality products.”

Mol – Khatam Shud

After 20 very long weeks of Emaan’s pity party, Sheheryaar’s ”my lyf, my rulzz” dictum :P, twisted Dastaan-e-Lila-Chanesar references, Shahnaam Shahnaam ki rutt, Sajal’s inability to come to grips with the fact that Sheheryaar does NOT love her, Chalaak Chachi’s excruciatingly irritating dialogues, Sanober’s deafening tantrums and some very serious Sheheryaar vs. Emaan debates, Mol has finallyy come to an end. Phewww.

I seriously appeal to all the writers out there: stop degrading women like that. Just stop. What exactly was the purpose of Sajal’s life? She cried, she died, but she did leave her child behind (muhabbat ka suboot, as Emaan puts it) so that the guy she loves can have his happy ending with the woman HE loves! That, my fellows, sums up the life of a girl who was pretty, educated and could go places. OK, Sajal had no self respect whatsoever, she put herself through this mess, knowing well that Sheheryaar would never give her the love and respect she is entitled to, but I don’t think she deserved the ending she got. The way they just killed her off left me feeling really bad about the ending. If there’s anyone to blame, it’s her parents, Zareena in particular, who simply kept stressing the point that ‘ek dafa bacha hojaye, dekh lena Sheheryaar kia karega Emaan kay saath…’ Ab dekh lia? If there’s anyone to blame, it’s Emaan who knew perfectly well that getting Sajal and Sheheryaar married would be destroying two lives, but such was her selfishness that she coerced Sheheryaar into dusri shadi just so that she could have her happy ending with Shahnaam.

About the oft-mentioned Dastaan-e-Lila-Chanesar, umm didn’t Lila end up empty handed and miserable? If we really are following the Dastaan here, Emaan and Sheheryaar’s happily ever after doesn’t make much of a sense – not that everything else makes sense but still! Considering how Emaan once mentioned that kisi aur ki biwi Sheheryaar ki maa nahe hosakti, I am not at all surprised that Rohail was under the impression that Emaan wants to marry him. And if it’s true that Emaan loved Sheheryaar too much to leave him, why do I remember that she once demanded a divorce?

Be it Emaan’s mother calling her badnaseeb, or Rohail telling his son, ‘’Beta tumharay naseeb mein maa nahe’’, or Emaan describing ‘’Aap ko pata hai Sheheryaaar, bachon kay itnay chotay chotay haath hotay hain aur un ki smile…’’, the dialogues were awful. “Muhabbat anmol hoti hai’’ didn’t leave much of an impact because it was said by three of the characters (Rohail, Sheheryaar AND Emaan, of course) in the last few minutes of the episode.

There are naqaabil-e-bardasht loag. Then there are some seriously naqaabil-e-bardasht loag. And then there’s Humayun Hassan and his family. Chalo, at least Emaan and Sheheryaar were interesting to watch in the initial episodes, but these people – they were a complete torture since day one! Humayun was more concerned about khandaani jora and zewar than the ladies of the house. About Muraad, let’s just say that he couldn’t act to save his life. And Zareena? Who was this woman? The dialogues she was given were so full of hate! I can’t even think of a single dialogue of hers that made sense or offered something positive. Please, take a moment to give yourself a pat on the back for putting up with this woman and her saazishain every week. On a scale of 0 to 10, the weirdness level of the family is 11!

There have been some unconvincing plot points to move the story forward (I am referring to Sajal reading Emaan’s fertility reports, Rohail’s sister reading Emaan’s diary etc) and in this episode, Sanober’s encounter with Zareena and Sajal seemed totally unrealistic.

It’s true that Mol was an engaging, intelligent play up to the 13th episode simply because till then, the story and the characters were simple and easy to relate. Emaan and Sheheryaar made an interesting couple, we found their conversations to be intelligent, and we looked forward to seeing how these two make it through despite the fact that they are polar opposites. The way Emaan’s parents were sidelined is one thing I didn’t quite understand. From the initial episodes, I could gather that Emaan is very close to her parents and that she shares almost everything with them. Even after her marriage to Sheheryaar, I remember how she used to discuss her problems with her mother and looked to her for advice, but ever since Shahnaam became an important part of her life, it was almost like she lost contact with her parents and all of a sudden, she wanted to be the one making all the decisions for herself without seeking her parents’ advice or approval. I agree, Sheheryaar didn’t like his parents’ interference but Emaan definitely was emotionally dependent on her parents. Considering her bonding with her parents, this is something I found incredibly unrealistic. Mol started off on a strong point, but it’s such a pity that I would always remember it as a drama where… everybody lost it!

In terms of performances, it should not go unacknowledged that Naveen Waqar and Faisal Qureshi were simply phenomenal as Emaan and Sheheryaar. They owned and understood their characters, they shared some great chemistry and were effortless. I can’t say much about Iqra Aziz because there wasn’t much she could do with the sort of character she was given, so I guess she was OK.

How many of you watched the last episode of Mol? Did you find Mol to be ‘a unique love story’? If you did, please share your views with me because I am afraid I didn’t. What are your thoughts on Sheheryaar and Emaan’s happily ever after?

Maryam Mehdi

P.S. In the end, I would like to thank all of my wonderful readers for reading the reviews and taking part in the discussions every week. You guys must’ve noticed that compared to the threads of the previous dramas I have reviewed, I was very late when it came to replying to your comments on Mol’s thread. I have been a little busy, but I am really sorry to have kept you all waiting. Thank you sooo much for bearing with me. Thank you so much for being so appreciative. This means the world to me! :D

Celebrities Show Their Support For Imran Khan

0

Celebrity divorces are always harder because they do not only have to get over the end of the relationship their own selves and face the family but they are made to feel like they are answerable to the public too. Everyone says what they want to without thinking how this could effect the couple and their families. Imran Khan and Reham Khan’s divorce has been the talk of the town but the celebrities of Pakistan whether they are related to showbiz or are news anchors have discouraged those who are in their field especially who are treating this divorce as a source of entertainment. It is encouraging to see this trend among celebrities.

Here are some of the tweets and statuses of different celebrities who have expressed their annoyance with the wrong attitude of media particularly and hence have shown their support for Imran Khan and Reham Khan.

Mohabbat Aag Si – Episode 26 – 29!

Ohkay so, these past 4 episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si were quite interesting & done nicely. I think it is commendable that even though so many episodes have gone by, they have still managed to keep the quotient of suspense till date. All the happenings that have taken place in story were things that I wasn’t expecting at all & I think it’s the unpredictability as well that makes me look forward to this drama the most.

Honestly, I was glad that Samia decided to do something unusual & decided to eavesdrop on Wajahat & Rukhsana. It was a high time she found out about what Rukhsana used to do to her & I must say, all the confrontations that followed were intense & perfectly tackled. I loved the way Samia showed Rukhsana her right place & openly told her off. Only Samia knows what she went through while she was waiting for her baby & to know that it was only because of Rukhsana that she had to wait for so long made her lose her mind. I loved the transition Samia showed, from being someone who would never doubt Apa Ji to someone who would never trust her again. I think it was very intelligent of Samia that she didn’t give Apa Ji a benefit of doubt & straight away believed what she heard from Wajahat because all of a sudden she picked up the pieces & everything started making sense to her. Saba always tried to make Samia understand that something was off about Rukhsana but now Samia clearly got Saba’s point.

Honestly, of all the people, I wanted Sharifa to find her happy ending because she deserved it the most. Sharifa for sure deserved to be set free from Rukhsana’s cage & trap. It was very sweet of Arshad Jr. to convince his mother for his & Sharifa’s wedding but unfortunately, he couldn’t save her. Rukhsana sent Sharifa away so that she could put the blame on her in the first place but she actually made me believe that she wanted to do something for her & wanted to pay her back for her years of commitment & loyalty to her but in stead her only plan was to use Sharifa’s absence in her favour. I think Sharifa, even after spending her whole life with Rukhsana couldn’t really understand what Rukhsana was made of & that is why she naively believed that Rukhsana would be happy to hear about the news of her marriage to Arshad Jr. It was very unfortunate that once again, in stead of thinking about her own happiness, Sharifa gave priority to Rukhsana’s word & chose to die because she couldn’t bring herself to say no to her beloved Apa Ji.

I must say, even though I know for a fact that Rukhsana is evil & she is dishonest, but she surprises me every single time with her diabolicalness because the way she used Sharifa’s death for her own benefit was something that I never expected & was shocked to see. Yes, I do understand that Rukhsana would do anything to save herself but to see her stooping so low to a point where she wouldn’t even care a dime about Sharifa & her life-long sincerity made me hate Rukhsana’s character even more. Rukhsana actually had the audacity to write a letter & read it out loud to her whole family. Like always, Sharafat fell for everything that he was told by his Apa Ji but at least, it was good to see that Samia didn’t buy anything that Rukhsana said & in fact she even discussed it with Saba because it is Samia who has seen the true face of Rukhsana as she herself admitted everything that too confidently in front of her, so Samia is now at a point where she knows that everything that Rukhsana has said, will say or will be saying would only be a lie & nothing else.

Honestly, Rukhsana getting married to Arshad Sr. was the last thing I wanted to see because after spewing so many lies & manipulating so many people’s lives, she doesn’t deserve even an iota of happiness. Yes, I do understand that she still didn’t get Arshad completely even after getting married to him, but I guess that still isn’t enough of a punishment for someone as evil as her. At least, she got that satisfaction for a moment that she finally married the man of her dreams but she doesn’t even deserve that. I don’t think it is very wise of Fareeda to take a back seat like that & allow Rukhsana to rule her life so easily. The sacrifice Fareeda has given for her husband is already enough that now if she feel she has to leave everything at Rukhsana’s mercy is a bigger mistake.

Anyways, so far Mohabbat Aag Si has been very interesting & I want to see what end would Rukhsana meet. I actually fail to feel anything for her because even though everything that Bee Jee said about her was right, Rukhsana lost her credibility once she got involved in the chase of ownership, where she wanted to own her brothers because that way she forgot to give love to them. She has gone a bit too far to earn anyone’s forgiveness & for that I hope she pays a heavy price for it. I really hope the writer here isn’t trying to turn Rukhsana into a victim by reminding us again & again of all the things she has done for her brothers because that’s water under the bridge now. For me, the way she prevented Samia from getting pregnant, the game she played to separate Saba & Wajahat, the way she planned the death of Samia’s unborn child & now the way she turned Sharifa into the culprit after her death, are the things that define Rukhsana & for doing all of that, she is guilty & definitely not a victim of course. I must say everyone has acted brilliantly but in these few episodes, Uzma has definitely stood out the most. The way she has played the character of Samia & has translated her pain & anguish on screen is phenomenal. She actually gave a perfect face to all the feelings & emotions that Samia experienced once she learnt the truth about Rukhsana & her acting in those confrontational scenes was brilliant. Please share your thoughts about these episodes of Mohabbat Aag Si & from this week onward, you guys will be getting regular reviews as I am done with my vacations! :)

I can prove a good mother-in-law of Imran Khan says Shafqat Zehra

The breakup of Imran Khan and Reham Khan is making headlines today. Among all this Shafqat Zehra, mother of filmstar Meera has also expressed her stance saying she can be a good mother in law for Imran Khan.

As per Shafqat Zahra, all this can easily be avoided had Imran Khan married filmstar Meera. Meera is quite sensible and had easily adjusted with Imran Khan.

Meanwhile Meera has also confirmed her mother’s desire by saying that Marriage proposal to Imran Khan still stands

Last year in October Meera has expressed the desire to marry Imran Khan after he announced his plans to marry during dharna in Islamabad.

Farwa Ki ABC – Episode 13

Farwa Ki ABC is going towards a direction very different from what most of us anticipated and the mix of serious and comic scenes is making the drama more interesting. The characters and their motivations are easy to understand which makes the whole drama watching experience worthwhile. Gogi unfortunately is not much of a gentleman – this is of course not news but watching Gogi trying to woo the teacher but not admitting it goes to show that perhaps even he was unaware of the fact that he is not really in love with Farwa. He thinks that taking pictures of Silky and saying things to her which a student should most certainly not say to his teacher is all “time pass”! Farwa might be immature and careless and she even went ahead and got married to her teacher but she is not the sort of girl who will fall for every other man. Gogi on the other hand gets “distracted” a little too easily! Gogi’s character traits aside, his dialogues and the way the character has been translated on screen always put a smile on my face!

Surraya has turned out to be a major disappointed, she is the only bechari in the play who left the person who loved her for a richer man but now wants him back even though she knows he is married. And then saying things like men go after younger girls makes her character the least likeable character in the play. Until now I never realized that Sir Mustansar was actually no more in love with Surraya but at some point he fell in love with Farwa. Like he said, he never went out looking for Surraya and he does not want her back. The only thing he wants is that Farwa should realize that Gogi is not the man for her. When she realizes that Gogi was never sincere with her, she will value her husband. The story is moving towards that direction fast but you never know what will happen next.

frwa

It was sad to see that Asma has not changed a bit. She still thinks she needs to prove that she is better than Farwa although it is hard to believe that she would even think of Farwa as her competition! There was a time when I found Asma’s character interesting but the fact that there has been absolutely no character development since the first time we saw her on screen is actually making her scenes somewhat repetitive. Silky’s character is turning out to be one which also keeps you guessing, the girl is full of surprises and she knows what she needs to do to get what she wants.

I must say that Gogi’s character has been the most amusing character in the play right from the get-go and Sir Mustansar’s character is the most intriguing character in the play. It is impossible to gauge what his true intentions are but his plans always add some interesting twist to the story. I have no clue as to why Sir Mustansar asked Farwa to tell her parents about Surraya but I am waiting to find out where everything that he has planned leads to.

Which is your favorite character and why? Do share your thoughts about tonight’s episode.

Pakistani Media’s Insensitivity Towards Imran Khan’s Divorce

0

Dear Pakistani Media,

Imran Khan’s divorce is not headline news so don’t make it one!!

It hasn’t even been 24 hours since Reham Khan and Imran Khan announced that they have filed for a divorce and already Pakistani media is spending all its time and energy is searching for possible reasons for the divorce. Some are saying that it was for political reasons and others are saying that Reham Khan took a large amount of money from someone Imran Khan knew but did not inform him. It is the duty of the media to report everything but the insensitivity with which these reporters and anchor persons report the news is not something that sets out a good image of Pakistan.

All the news channels are covering the divorce like it will have some kind of an impact on the political, social or economic condition of the country although this is something completely personal which will only effect the two people who were in this relationship. Like Hyenas who feed on the dead bodies of animals, our media lives on negative news. They do not take into consideration how their attitude will effect the families involved.

3

Like always, the woman is being made the main focus of attention. The media is making sure that one by one they point out all the negative things that have ever surfaced about Reham Khan in order to malign her image. Does that mean that only bad people get divorced? Does anyone want to get divorced or plans to do so? It is common sense that when someone gets divorced it is a very unfortunate happening. People are free to talk about it as much as they want sitting with friends and family but media has a bigger responsibility because the parties involved and the whole world is watching them.

2

Imran Khan requested the media to not blow this incident out of proportion and to not speculate but Pakistani media is competing to dig dirt and every single channel has made it its mission to bring out all the possible speculations. The media also talked to the mufti who conducted the nikkah and his statement is being promoted on every page. Speculations have taken a crazy turn where some channels are getting “expert” opinion on whether Imran Khan will marry Jemima again now.

1

Some channels are busy finding out what the haq mehr was which is even more ridiculous. They are showing old interviews in which Reham and Imran both talked about divorce as a joke in public to rub it in! The memes and jokes circulating on social media are also very insensitive. Are we so deprived of entertainment and so ignorant that we think it is alright to laugh on people’s personal tragedies?

4

Political Parties however have taken a more mature approach. All the leading parties like PPP and PML (N) have told their workers to refrain from even commenting about the divorce. The media should take inspiration from these political leaders and refrain from making this time even more difficult for the parties involved because it is not just about the couple but their children and families are involved in this too. PTV is the only channel which is not treating this divorce as headline news. Here is why,

9

Once Reham Khan said in a interview, “The Pakistani media is like a wild child who has grown up on the streets without the benefits of achi tarbeyat !!” We could not agree with her more!

Imran Khan & Reham Khan Divorced

The rumors of problems between PTI’s leader Imran Khan and wife Reham Khan were there in the media for a few months now especially after Imran Khan declared that he did not want his wife to get involved in politics. The couple part ways through mutual consent and has made the news public. They were married for a period of ten months.

Previously Imran Khan refuted rumors of there being trouble between the couple saying, “I am shocked at a TV channel making slanderous statement about my marriage. I strongly urge the media to desist from such baseless statements.”

Dawn News reported that a source who was very close to Imran Khan revealed, “She wanted to get involved with politics and that is not what Khan wanted at all. She just did not want to sit at home.”

Imran Khan has askes the media to deal with this situation in a sensitive manner. He does not want speculations surrounding his divorce.

Reham Khan hasn’t talked to media yet but she revealed that the couple had filed for a divorce in a tweet.

There is news that Reham Khan has left for London and will talk to the media there.

Ushna Shah Looks Young & Innocent In Her New Look

0

Ushna Shah has undergone a lot of changes in the past few months. There was a time when this outspoken actress did not think much before sharing her views on different topics but now she has stopped doing that. She is more careful about what she says.

ushna5

Ushna Shah has also lost a great deal of weight which has given her face a new look. After losing weight many other actresses have revamped their looks with a brand new hairstyle and Ushna Shah has followed the same pattern too. Ushna has grown her hair a little and got herself a new cut which really suits her. It gives her a younger look. Ushna Shah does not look anything like the slightly chubby, short haired girl we saw in drama serial Dua.

Osman Khalid Butt Discusses His Future Plans

0

Osman Khalid Butt has always done work that made him stand out in the crowd but his latest hit drama serial Diyar-e-Dil has won him fame that is unmatched. When an actor works in a drama that is such a super hit then the fans start expecting even more from him. Osman Khalid Butt talked to HIP about his upcoming projects and the dramas he has signed right now.

Osman Khalid Butt talked about the film “Jannan” which will be his second venture as a writer after the film “Siyaah”. He said,

“Janaan is a frothy romantic comedy that celebrates a proud Pukhtun culture in escapist fashion. Think of all the movies that have come out recently (barring a couple): there’s a very stereotypical representation of Pathans; this film is an antithesis of sorts. The film brings forward an unseen glamour, beauty, laughter, and romance associated with the region, along with some sharp social commentary. It’s essentially about a quirky family with many colorful characters.”

1

Talking about his future projects he informed HIP,

“You know how it goes, mum’s the word till things finalize, but InSha’Allah there might be a film project in the coming year. I’m writing for a film as well, so there’s that. As far as dramas are concerned, there’s Haseeb Hasan’s next after Tera Gham Aur Hum, titled Sanam, written by Mona Haseeb. Haven’t signed anything else yet, but am reading a couple of interesting projects.”

2

The actor feels honored because he got to work with stars like Abid Ali. He says that he learned a lot from him and he was constantly trying to match his performance in the play.

Ayeza Khan Excited About Her Comeback Play

0

Ayeza Khan’s fans have been missing watching her in dramas after she mesmerized the viewers with her performance in Pyare Afzal. Ayeza did not inform her fans why she was taking a break from showbiz so her fans were disappointed and were not sure if they would get to watch her again in dramas. After the birth of her baby Hoorian the fans also found out why Ayeza Khan had been missing from the television screen. Ayeza Khan did not take long to make her comeback and now she will be seen playing a lead role opposite Imran Abbas in upcoming drama serial “Tum Kon Piya.”

tum kon piya

Ayeza Khan has been promoting her play on the social media because she wants her fans to know that she is making a comeback. The drama is based on Maha Malik’s novel like many other dramas nowadays which are inspired from famous novels. The shooting of the play has not started yet but everyone involved in the project is doing whatever they can to promote it.

Sangat – Episode 11

The latest developments in the story were not according to the wishes of many of the viewers and I also did not want the story to take this turn. Having said that I must say that the latest developments were shown in a very convincing manner yet again – the whole scenario was not over-dramatized and Adnan’s reaction to the results of the DNA report was spot-on. While the doctor broke the worst news possible, Adnan was more worried about how Ayesha would have felt if she was there to hear the news of these fake reports. While this turn in the story will make Ayesha an even bigger victim, it also goes to show that something like rape cannot be swept under the carpet. How could someone like Ayesha’s mother who is so practical not take any steps to ensure that her daughter did not conceive after she was raped – that was the first thought that ran through my head when I heard what the doctor had to say to Adnan.

sngt

The results of the DNA report added another ugly twist to the story which will only make matters worse and that too at a time when Ayesha has clearly moved on. She no longer wants to dwell in the past but she wants to look towards the future and do whatever she can to make sure that Sangat lives a cancer-free life. There was a time when Ayesha wasn’t sure if Sangat was Adnan’s daughter but now that she is certain that this really is Adnan and Ayesha’s Sangat, this ugly truth will change everything. It was touching to see a father willing to sacrifice everything for his only daughter. Adnan’s love for Ayesha and Sangat both is something we rarely see on television but this latest twist in the story will be the real test of Adnan’s love for his wife in particular.

The best part of this episode had to be Ayesha’s visit to her mother and the way she requested her for help and the response she got. For the first time we saw that Ayesha’s mother will do whatever it takes to make her daughter happy without asking a lot of questions or giving it too much thought. Ayesha’s mother unlike Adnan’s mother did not accuse her of being selfish although she is a widow too which was in line with her practical nature.

sngt1

While I do not agree with the way Adnan’s mother reacted, I could not help but feel that this time around Farah took it a little too far. Parents do get attached to their house in their old age especially after they lose their spouses and such a reaction from her was although anything but ideal but it was too soon to judge her like that. I wish for once we saw Farah understand why her mother felt the way she did and made her understand things in a polite way. No one wants to see their mother leave their own house like that and when a situation like that does arise you console your mother and treat her with love. Later on we saw Farah blaming her mother for the DNA test’s results too, which was unfair. Although their mother is not flawless but she is a caring woman who loves her son in her own way, if Farah is so bright why can she not see that! Yes! for the first time I felt like Farah was being unfair.

I am gradually coming to the point where I see myself wishing that Shahwez was completely out of the picture and this story was more about Adnan and Ayesha. It would have been good if the focus was on how they cope with the aftermath of this tragedy as opposed to showing how Shahwez is dealing with the entire situation. To be honest, now I couldn’t care less what is going through his head and I only want to see him being punished for what he has done.

I must give the director full credit for bringing out the best in every actor and bringing out the best in the script. Saba Qamar stole the show yet again tonight with her brilliant performance. The preview of the next episode was enticing as usual, I am waiting to find out if Adnan will stand by his wife and Sangat’s side even after knowing the truth.

Do share your thoughts about this latest installment.

Farhat Ishtiaq Says Goodbye To Diyar-e-Dil

When a writer is writing the script for a drama they have no idea how the outcome will be because it is not only the script of a drama that is important but how the director, actors and producers deal with this script is also very important. Diyar-e-Dil ended yesterday, it was one of the most hit serials of this year. It got an overwhelming response from viewers and critics.

5 Instagram Posts That Show Mehwish Hayat Feels Like A Princess

0

Mehwish Hayat’s looks have undergone some big changes ever since she entered the industry. She has done everything that the stars nowadays do to make the necessary changes in their looks to make themselves look more appealing. It all started with Mehwish Hayat getting some plastic surgeries. This is an open secret. Mehwish Hayat also starting working out to shape up her body and then she got a haircut for a different look. Mehwish Hayat also looks more fair in all her pictures now, unlike before when she used to go with a less fair look.

We hardly see Mehwish Hayat wearing Eastern outfits now. She is totally Western in her looks and it is something she loves. It isn’t very often that celebrities show their happiness with their new looks the way Mehwish Hayat does. Being an expressive person Mehwish Hayat puts everything down loud and clear in her instagram posts sometimes as a statement and at other times in the form of hash tags.

mehwish old and new

Here are some instagram posts of Mehwish Hayat that show how much Mehwish Hayat is in love with her looks. She does not hide her feelings about how fantastic she looks and how confident she feels because of these looks. In every other post Mehwish has mentioned that she feels like a princess.

Diyar-e-Dil – The End! <3

Awwwwww, it was such a sweet journey that came to an end today. I felt like procrastinating the review because I just didn’t want to admit that Diyar-e-Dil has ended & this was the last time we got to see our favorite characters together. :(

Finally, this episode was as sweet as Gajjar Ka Halwa but I still feel I didn’t get enough of Wali & Faarah. They both deserved more screen-time but going by what they have given us, their scenes together were amazing. It was actually quite interesting to see how Faarah decided to share her feelings with Agha Jaan – she developed a strong bonding with him in a very short span of time that is why, just how she used to be candid with Behroz, she was now telling her inner most feelings to Agha Jaan as he became a perfect father figure to her. The way Agha Jaan pleaded Faarah’s case in front of Wali with so much concern showed that he didn’t want Faarah to feel any pain. Wali knew that out of all the people, only Agha Jaan would understand what Faarah put him up with all these years, so now it was his time to test her patience & extract some fun out of it. Wali knew exactly that his decision of being with Faarah will not only make her happy but it will mean the world to every single family member, that is why he was keen on making it the most special moment for everyone.

Faarah obviously didn’t have the courage to hear Wali out as the burden was overbearing & she was certain that Wali would call off their Nikkah in front of everyone but if only she had waited, she could’ve heard what Wali wanted to say. The way Wali looked at Faarah when he found her in his room told a beautiful tale of how much he loved her. Wali perfectly understood that all this suspense was hard on her & she had no courage to face it, that is why, she chose to put herself to sleep in order to ease her aching heart & that is why when Wali could see how defeated Faarah was, without wasting any time, he decided to let her know what he actually felt for her after hearing Faarah’s side of the story. Faarah knew that Wali deserved that confession & acknowledgment & that is why, she didn’t hold back & told him that she loved him & yes, her confession was heartfelt, honest & perfect. All those tears that Faarah shed highlighted the honesty that was in her confession. Yes, Faarah had no idea about what was running through Wali’s mind & without even giving it a thought that her deceleration would change things for good, she let the secret out of how much she wanted to be with him. Obviously, all the things that followed were exactly opposite of what she had expected & imagined but just then, she knew that everything was going to be alright & Wali will stay by her side for the rest of her life. :)

I absolutely loved the honesty that their confession embodied as it came after a very long, dark & rough patch, but they both knew they had to let each other know what was in their hearts. Faarah for the first time got to know that Wali had loved her ever since he was a kid & probably didn’t even know the meaning of true love, that is why, he didn’t give up on her when she gave him a tough time. Faarah then understood that if only a few months of harsh behavior of Wali could cause her so much pain, how much of her rude behavior for so many years would have hurt him. The way Wali assured her of how much trust he had on her gave her enough confidence to admit that she always lied when she said she hated him. Faarah was never taught to hate anyone but it was just her immaturity that didn’t allow her to see what a gem of a person Wali was. I loved the way Wali spoke about all the weaknesses that Faarah had again & again, because it showed that he accepted her the way she was & he also acknowledged the efforts she made to change herself for him. Wali actually loved her truly & that is why he was never taken aback by the differences their personalities had. Faarah did change herself because she knew that a perfect man like Wali deserved nothing but the best. I loved their confessions & the sweet bickering they enacted in front of Agha Jaan. I somehow loved the way they ended the episode with Agha Jaan in the picture because his presence completed the whole scenario as he was the backbone of this family & the reason why everyone was together under one roof. What a perfect way to end such a beautiful journey!!! :)

I must say, Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt, both stood out in this episode & gave their 100% to make the ending so impactful & memorable. I loved their chemistry & the ease with which they both performed the ending scenes of their beautiful conversations. They both were perfect & proved my point once again that there is no need of relying on any sort of closeness when the words are powerful & the expressions perfectly tell the story in literal sense. This drama was special & indeed it will stay with me for a very very long time. I already am feeling a void because Diyar-e-Dil has ended. The way they made us all relate & connect to all the characters was phenomenal & it doesn’t happen that easily where you understand each & every character; its struggles, its transition, its feeling with that much perfection but Diyar-e-Dil’s script & direction made it very easy for us to do that.

I will thank the director Haseeb Hassan especially for directing Diyar-e-Dil so beautifully & with so much detailing because it added another level of depth in the story. I will thank Farhat Ishtiyaq for writing such a beautiful script that depicted human emotions perfectly. Diyar-e-Dil has given us so many things to ponder upon like the importance of the head of the family, respecting the blood relations & giving priority to your family members. Without getting preachy ever, Diyar-e-Dil elaborated the embedded lessons so effortlessly & I will thank the writer for writing down the character of Agha Jaan because his insight & his wisdom made things right in the end. The way the emphasis was made on letting go of the past & working together in making the future right & better was what I loved the most about Diyar-e-Dil. The transition of each & every character, their personal battles between their minds & hearts, with their hearts winning in the end & then to see their wisdom guiding them through the course of their journey was absolutely brilliant. A journey of the whole family together that went through so much & stood by each other in the end is what makes Diyar-e-Dil perfect in every single aspect. :)

I will thank Abid Ali, Mikaal Zulfikar, Ali Rehman, Behroz Sabzwari, Hareem Farooq, Sanam Saeed, Ahmed Zeb, Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt for giving such phenomenal performances but indeed, Sir Abid Ali, Maya Ali, Ahmed Zeb, Hareem Farooq, Ali Rehman & Osman Khalid Butt stood out the most & gave their best shot which always made me say that this has been their best performance so far. The makeup & costume designers did an amazing job too & I will especially thank the whole team for choosing such a beautiful location for shooting Diyar-e-Dil, it just elevated the pleasure of viewing this drama & made it a visual treat. I have loved the OST & also loved the lighting through out the drama. The attention to detail that we all noticed was another aspect that made this drama a complete package. I must say, I am thoroughly impressed by the growth that Maya Ali & Osman Khalid Butt have shown in this drama, they sure have come a long long way also. I also feel that a special mention should go to both Ali Rehman & Hareem Farooq for doing justice to their characters & giving life to them because they actually made us fall in love with the characters of Suhaib & Arjumand. Abid Ali was phenomenal as Agha Jaan & it won’t be an overstatement when I say that he has become one of my favorite characters of all times. :) I actually feel lucky that I got a chance to view & review such a perfect drama like Diyar-e-Dil that gave me so much to remember & yes, I feel Diyar-e-Dil deserves every single award in every single category of Hum TV Awards because all the actors & the whole drama-making team has been phenomenal so they deserve that much recognition & acknowledgement for sure. :)

In the end, special thanks to all the beautiful readers out there who supported me & my efforts, who also stood by me whenever I told them I was busy & caught up due to personal reasons. I will be missing our discussions over Diyar-e-Dil & yes, our Tuesdays won’t be the same anymore but let’s rejoice over the beautiful journey that we all lived through together. Please share your beautiful thoughts about the absolutely beautiful Diyar-e-Dil. :)

Keep Supporting,
Cheers,
Zahra Mirza.

Yaaram – Novel Review

0

The  name of the novel ‘Yaraam’ by Sumaira Hameed, means a beloved or a lover. When you first encounter such name it gives a feeling of a typical ,mourning and tragic love story with bits of conspiracies and a lot of disappointment ,But I object  it is not just a love story with all these aspects but contains a lot more gems of wisdom put together in a beautiful, engaging ,and exciting events. It triggers almost a wide range of emotions and enforces our brain to think  and ponder over the situation and feel in depth for every character. You laugh with them, enjoy their silly jokes, pranks and feel very light. In literature, the most common elements of romanticism are moon, night and stars .On contrary, Sumaira Hameed takes a different way and starts a novel with an imagery  of ‘Sarma ki Dhoop’

‘’Amar Prem ka agr koi lad ka naam hota tou wo sarma ki dhoop hota’’

This Imagery takes us to the introduction of our heroine’ Amraha’ before diving in the characters of this novel let’s just introduce you with the main theme of this novel.

MAIN THEME

Although highly condensed with love story, it unfolds in a very interesting way. It is a journey of change and transformation for some characters and their influential past which molded them into their present form. Amraha applies for the University of Manchester as she wants to get rid of the environment she was brought up and was tagged as ‘Manhoos’ and was accepted by an emotional and more appropriately self-pitying mail of her .The fun and interesting part begins when the description of the University and its environment is sketched. It is here when different people get to know one other and learn what life is! The Manchester University Motto is very interesting‘’There is no time to cry and just smile’’. In my opinion, the main theme of the novel is harkat main barkat,  to overcome fear, be confident, learn from your past; take hold of your life, ignore foolish myths and unnecessary objections and be strong. Life is about facing the harsh realities of life, surviving through them and being thankful for what we have. I must appreciate the efforts of the writer in bringing all these lessons into light through a love story.

VARIETY OF CHARACTERS

Apart from Amraha, every main character in this novel is influential in one way or the other. There is depth in every character and everyone has a story, which unfolds to describe the beauty of their character and the source of their strength. Why Amraha wasn’t much influential in the beginning , the reason behind it was that, this character was shown to learn that it’s not only her there are many people who lose so much in life but still are trying to live happily.

Amraha: The perfect example of a roti dhoti, sensitive and weak heroine. I felt for her at the beginning because of the stupid and irrational myths that degraded her personality and destroyed her self-esteem. She is a submissive personality, but her grandfather supported her and tried to restore her self-esteem. The writer grasped the attention here by adding these lines ” for every person there will be someone who will love them even if the whole world hates him/her’’.

Her grandfather was the support system for her and she manages to get admitted in the University of Manchester. She enters a whole new world and learns a lot. It is hilarious, enjoyable and adventurous and I believe Manchester World is fun. By the end of the encounter and love part of the novel, She couldn’t accept the proposal because there was a big’’ because ‘’and at that time it seemed that Amraha is so selfish, harsh, brutal and self-absorbed girl. I think Amraha was way too rude even when the writer made us understand why it was the way it was, Still it was harsh. I want you to read it and figure it out.

Aliyan: The hero of this novel and already a heart-throb of the University  is a handsome, attractive and wise personality. He has a disturbing past and that was the reason he didn’t like Asians. He behaves nicely with Amraha and fall for her when he and his friends planned a bomb blast prank .After the confession Aliyan doesn’t remain the same person and his friend Carl (The Manhoos Mara) tries to bring him back. Aliyan is intelligent and smart and he beautifully described about the colours of flowers and the pre-conceived notions about them.

Carl ( The Manhoos Mara) : Why Carl is manhoos Mara, this is epecially shown by his naughty , hilarious and scary pranks, he is  such a treat to read. Always up to something scary and adventurous, a bit too scary but is a breath of fresh .He is Aliyan’s friend which actually is hard to believe because they shared a unique chemistry. The pranks were hilarious and I enjoyed it a lot.

Veera: A girl from Russia, She is energetic, bold, adventurous, strong and beautiful. She is a nice character and I was impressed by her take on Amraha that she was selfish and did wrong with Aliyan, this depicted her smartness. I enjoyed her strong character, especially when she challenges or accepts the challenges of ‘’ the manhoos mara’’. At one point, I felt for her but she moved on because this was the essence of her personality.

Sai : This is another unique character and is trustworthy. He has a habit of wearing a sign board named ‘’Talk to me’’ if I am not mistaken. The purpose is to listen to people’s stories, their fears, their dreams, and relationships and this behaviour was in response to his past. When Nobody listened to him, he felt devastated so he started this weird activity to console others.

There was an interesting activity called ‘’Tweet’’. Tweet was kind of a debt treat, you ask from someone as ‘’Tweet Me’’ and he would give you something to eat and whenever he would ask for ‘’ Tweet Me back’’ you had to pay it back. The exam-phobia was such a delight to read and is very funny.

WEAK ASPECT: The negative or weak aspect of the novel is after the separation and a bit  re-union part it becomes a bit slow as the writer was giving time to every emotion to be explained  with unnecessary details that I had to skip a few pages and reach the end.

A good novel to read and invest time on, it was enjoyable and lesson-oriented but is only for one time reading, you can’t read it over and over again.

Leaving you with this lesson

‘’There are never any winners or any losers, participation is. Remember that and enjoy the challenge of each moment so it arises now’’.

Zahid Ahmed Does Not Give A Damn About Bollywood

0

Zahid Ahmed did not enter the television industry in his teens like most of our stars who have become very famous. He struggled a lot before getting where he is today. Zahid Ahmed has been appreciated by many people because of some superb performances he gave in different drama. Zahid Ahmed gave his fans on facebook a chance to ask him questions which he replied to instantly. The question answer session led to Zahid Ahmed sharing some interesting details about his future plans.

There is good news for all those who are weary of watching this talented actor play negative roles in dramas. Zahid Ahmed told his fans that in his next project his role will be,

“Leading and very romantic.”

His fans also want to see him working in Bollywood. So, is Zahid Ahmed going to work in Bollywood anytime soon? His reply was,

Another interesting plan which Zahid Ahmed has in store for the future is that he plans to give acting classes soon. Zahid Ahmed’s voice is considered one of his most valuable assets along with his talent. Talking about his voice he said,

“it puts the babies to sleep and keeps the ladies up!!”

Zahid Ahmed was very candid with his fans. Talking about his own personality he said,

“I am not serious at all… In fact my family often has to beg me to be serious.”

Talking about actors who work extra hard to look good Zahid Ahmed said,

“No one asked them to make six packs or whiten their skin… This is silly bollywood mentality… Audience maangti hai performance… Wohi yaad rehti hai..”

We won’t be seeing Zahid Ahmed play a comic role because he thinks,

“I looooooove comedy… But I think all my female fans wouldn’t want to see me doing comedy anytime soon… It breaks the charm of an intense actor.”

Asia’s Singing Superstar on Geo Tv

Indian media whether private or state owned is known for its hate speech and venomous propaganda targeted towards Pakistan. Perhaps in India such content is in demand and brings high ratings. Contrary to this in Pakistan the situation is totally different, our privately owned satellite news as well as entertainment channels follow the policy of “one-sided love affair (یکطرفہ محبت)” with India. The prime example of this “unrequited love affair” is the priority coverage of Bollywood and its artists in our news bulletins.

Geo News is a trendsetter in this regard, which laid the foundation of this policy by taking the initiative of  Aman Ki Aasha (also known as Aman Ka Tamasha). Like Geo News, its entertainment channel Geo Tv and Geo Kahani also follows the same policy, by regularly airing Indian content comprising of films, dramas, reality shows, award shows, Hollywood films dubbed in Hindi.

In past Geo Tv has also collaborated with Indian media houses to produce music contest shows with some cliched motives like “peace”, “bridging the gap”, “bringing both countries closer”, “mend relations” to name a few. Such shows are recorded in UAE. The last such show was Surkeshetra. It is really difficult to comment whether such shows really bring both countries together or not, but definitely such shows surely get lot of mainstream media attention. Interestingly contrary to the claims of bringing peace, the publicity campaign of Geo Tv also present such shows as a battle between two countries.

Following its own tradition of this “one-sided love affair“, now Geo Tv is coming with another show named Asia’s Singing Superstar. The show will be hosted by Ahsan Khan and Shafqat Amanat Ali. Shafqat Amanat Ali is already conducting auditions in UAE to select the contestants from India and Pakistan. The show will be aired next year on Geo Tv, har pal haseen hai har pal geo.

Though the name of the show is also a bit misleading hinting it to be an Asian wide show, which off course is wrong as it will only have the participants from two countries of South Asia i.e. India and Pakistan.

Indian Celebrities Show Their Support For Pakistani Artists

0

At a time when Shiv Sena is dead against Pakistani artists working in India there are Indian celebrities who want to see these artists working in India. Famous directors and actors spoke up against Shiv Sena’s latest threats to Pakistani artists.

Mahesh Bhatt has been encouraging Pakistani talent to work in India for a very long time now. He is the one who invited Mohsin Khan to work in India but even then he was forced to leave the country because of his nationality. Talking about this latest step by Shiv Sena Mahesh Bhatt said,

“If Fawad Khan is in the country, it is because the people of India have loved him. If Rahat Fateh Ali Khan and Atif Aslam are big draws in the country, it is because they are a hit with the citizens in the country, which is why they are a part of the popular mainstream culture today. I have dared to bring talent from across the border because we as an industry only look inwards.”

mahesh bhatt

He also said,

“When I made the film Saathi (which released in 1991), Pakistani cricketer-turned-actor Mohsin Khan was a part of the movie, but he was asked to leave because of his nationality. Haven’t we moved an inch since then? Are we stuck in history? I think we as an industry must search for answers.”

Bhatt told IANS in an interview,

“It kind of ridicules our constitution, it shames the police, and it debunks our claim of being a democracy. And when you tamper with a god-given gift in men of free thought and free speech, to create fear is not good for any individual, nor for society.”

Shyam Benegal, the filmmaker also spoke against this move by Shiv Sena. He said,

“We have diplomatic relations with the country and we are not at war with them. We are a cultured nation and we can’t be reducing ourselves to play the game of tit for tat. They are not doing it in a rational sense, is it a mere political advantage (that they are vying for)?”

Karan Anshuman who is a director and a film critic also did not agree with what Shiv Sena is attempting to do. He said,

“I disagree with the Shiv Sena. What sort of picture are they trying to portray? On one hand, we have the film fraternity culminating the message of peace with films like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and on the other hand we have parties like these who will go down to any extent to stay relevant. ”

saif

Saif Ali Khan whose films were recently banned in Pakistan because of his objectionable statements against Pakistani also does not support Shiv Sena. While talking to the media he said,

“I remember the time when I said that I was disappointed in Pakistan and everyone lost their s***, and here they are throwing ink all over the place.”

He asked Shiv Sena to,

“rein it in or else Pakistan will ban more of our movies. For the love of Bollywood, stop before it’s too late!”

Sangat – Episode 10

This episode was somewhat predictable as compared to all the episodes we have seen so far but like all other episodes the developments in tonight’s episodes gave me a few good reasons to tune into Sangat next week. I hope there is a good reason why Ayesha’s mother and Shahwez are getting so much screen time. I would have liked to see a few more conversations between Adnan and Ayesha as opposed to the ones between Ayesha’s mother and Shahwez. The circumstances that led to Ayesha asking Shahwez to donate his blood were shown in a very convincing manner like always. The second Sangat was fine Ayesha could not stand to look at that man and she asked Adnan to make sure that such a situation never arose again.

I have no idea what is the relevance of Salma’s track to the entire story but something tells me that Salma is being given so much importance for a reason. I am waiting to find out what that is. The conversations surrounding Shahwez seemed out of place at a time when Sangat should have been the sole concern of everyone associated with Ayesha or Sangat. Ayesha’s mother’s curiosity regarding Ayesha’s attitude towards Shahwez and everything Adnan had to say about Shahwez did not quite fit in the entire situation. It would have been much better if these conversations took place when Sangat was home. Ayesha’s mother’s conversation with Shahwez in the hospital was very meaningful. She feels that Shahwez was miraculously sent in her life as a savior, she has no clue that this man entered her life again for all the wrong reasons.

sngt

A DNA test was a development we were all expecting. The fact that Ayesha did not try to stop this whole process goes to show that right now she does not care about anything else except her daughter. However, Ayesha could not muster up the courage to tell Adnan the truth even when the opportunity presented itself. Adnan shared how he could indirectly be responsible for what was going on with his daughter but Ayesha could not share what happened to her. I wonder why Ayesha thinks that this was her “gunnah”, perhaps because she did not tell her husband the truth. It was disappointing to see Ayesha blaming herself for something like this. She is the victim and even if she did not have the courage to share what happened with her husband it does not mean that she betrayed anyone in any way.

It was good to see a real baby playing the role of Sangat, it is definitely something that helps the viewers look at the baby as a real person! Shahwez is back with Ayesha’s mother but I hope that he makes at least one more attempt to leave the house since a person like him won’t stay back only to make someone happy. He entered Ayesha’s mother’s life to make up for what he had done and now that Ayesha has spelled out what she wants from him nothing should stop him! All the actors gave top-notch performances which makes this drama stand out in the crowd. I am however getting tired of Ayesha’s mother’s obsession with Shahwez and her repetitive dialogues when she is talking to Ayesha regarding Shahwez. It would have been nice to see Ayesha’s mother and Ayesha in particular compromising on her looks when Sangat was in the hospital. On the first day they were coming from a function but on the second day there was no reason to look so dressed up.

The preview of the next episode showed that there will be some interesting developments in the next episode as well. What are the predictions for the upcoming episodes? Please share your thoughts.

“I have been in love too many times” – Ushna Shah

0

Ushna Shah has always been known for being blunt. People criticize her because of her outspoken nature but as Ushna Shah puts it,

” I am a bit too honest with everything, I just cannot be fake – perhaps I need a filter.”

ushna shah

The actress who has worked with some very famous actors and directors in a short period of time does not believe in hiding her feelings. She disclosed while talking to MAG Weekly that she had some very nasty and ugly breakups in the past. She thinks falling in love isn’t all sunshine and roses. She said,

” I have been in love too many times and it’s a problem, to be honest.”

Ushna Shah has been in a relationship lately too but she does not want to disclose who the person is. Talking about her future plans she said,

“I’ll settle down when my career is at a certain point and when I, and my significant other are ready for it.”

ushna

Ushna Shah also talked about the rumours about her and Hamayun Saeed,

“What I really want to touch down upon is that a lot of respectable media outlets published a rumour without citing sources, doing their background checks or confirming it, which was extremely irresponsible, and if it was someone else other than me, she could’ve hurt herself.”

Ushna Shah would love to be a part of a Bollywood film if,

“I get a good role, then why not! And whoever says they don’t want to, is lying!”

Mahira Khan & Fawad Khan Shiv Sena’s Next Target

Indian extremist group Shiv Sena which is well known for its hatred for Pakistanis has made it impossible for the Pakistani artists to showcase their talent there. They did everything they could to stop Ghulam Ali from performing in India. Waseem Akram and Shoaib Akhtar had to cut short their visit in India because of threats from the party. They also attacked the BCCI headquarters in an attempt to hinder the Pakistan-India cricket series.

mahirafawad

Shiv Sena has now threatened Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan. They are not going to allow these two artists to promote their upcoming Bollywood films in Maharashtra  where the party has a strong hold. Raees is going to be Mahira Khan’s first film in India and Fawad Khan will be seen playing a role in Karan Johar’s film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

One of Shiv Sena’s top leaders has been quoted as saying,

“We have taken a stand not to allow any Pakistani actor, cricketer or performer to step on Maharashtra soil.”

Shaan Shahid who has always been against Pakistanis working in India also had something to say about the issue:
