Actor Irrfan Khan won the Filmfare Best Actor in Leading Role (Male) award for Hindi Medium while Vidya Balan bagged the Filmfare Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) Award for Tumhari Sulu at the 63rd Jio Filmfare Awards.

Rajkumar Rao bagged two awards. He won the Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male) for Bareilly Ki Barfi, and also Critics’ Award for Best Actor (Male) for Trapped.

China has a quota on the number of overseas movies that can be screened in the country each year. However, Indian films are finding increased presence there. Latest addition to the list is Saba Qamar and Irrfan Khan starrer ‘Hindi Medium’. This satire on education system is entirely content driven and deservingly so has already made $3.68 million on its opening day. Therefore, emerging as the second biggest Bollywood opener in the country after Aamir Khan’s Secret Superstar.

The film, backed by T-Series and Maddock Films, released in China on April, 4 2018. Producer Bhushan Kumar of T-Series also said in a statement,

“Hindi Medium is content-driven. There’s a unique twist in this tale.”

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted,

Having worked in dramas like Main Sitara and Besharam last year, which won her a lot of appreciation from her fans as well as critics, Saba is gearing up for Hindi Medium which is all set to release on May 19. “I was never desperate to work in Bollywood though I aspired to do a movie across the border but only if I was offered a strong character and a main lead. My plays are widely watched in India and are equally popular. Irrfan had also watched my serial on YouTube and he recommended me to the director,” she told The Express Tribune.

“At first when I received a call from Irrfan’s manager, I thought it was a prank call but later the casting director called and offered me the role. The director wanted someone to portray a role like Kareena Kapoor Khan did in Jab We Met.”

“So, I had faith in the entire team that they will make something good,” she added.

“I had the best time shooting for the movie. It was an amazing experience. Everybody from the hero to the director to spot boy was so humble and gave me the utmost respect. Even the designers would address me as ‘Ma’am’, unlike in Pakistan.”

“I was given royal treatment. I was protected and pampered so much that I was put in the best five stars hotels. My mini bar would never end. They would ask me my favourite dishes and drinks, and anything I needed was arranged for me,” she stated.

“I never felt strange or alien in India. I am not scared of death. If my fate is to die in India, I will die there. In fact Irrfan would always say ‘Saba tou cheeti hay, kissi say nahi darti’. I really hope the issues between the two countries are resolved because I would love to work in Bollywood for all the respect and honour that I have received there. Mein do do hath jaon gee phir say Bollywood, jo nakhray meray wahan uthaye gaye aur mujhey saatwein aasman pay bethaya, I’ve never felt that in my own country,” she said.

Talking about her chemistry with Irrfan, Saba shared, “He is a superstar. I was so nervous on my first day of shoot but after one hour all my nervousness went away because Irrfan made me so comfortable. He and I shared a very strong on screen chemistry and we would hardly do more than two takes. I am by nature very rebellious and I said to myself I will either do or die here. I had to prove myself. I often would ask Irrfan about my shots and he would say, ‘Why are you asking me, you know better, tum tou mujh say bhi aagay nikal rahi ho’ and I would say, ‘App meri kit laga rahein hain’.”

“Ever since I have had a Bollywood stamp, all the top brands are chasing me for endorsements. Where were all the brands before I went to India. No one has ever approached me for the last thirteen years that I have been working. But I have gotten immense support from my colleagues such as Ahsan Khan, Mahira Khan, Ayesha Omar, Jami and Sarmad Khoosat. They even gave me a shout out on Twitter for my film. Talking about marriage plans, Saba added, “I have not found anyone yet and I cannot get married just for the sake of marriage, it’s boring. Looks like a breath of fresh air is finally here as many channels are coming up with short series consisting of 5-6 episodes. We have seen Ek Thi Laila, Hum Dono nd Sar e Rah up till now and Sar e Rah went on to become a major hit among the masses.

Saba Qamar was the main lead in Sar e Rah and she hooked the audience with her strong screen presence. She is an international star and has a huge fan following which helped leverage the limited series. The star has now signed another short series and seems like this will again be a women-centric drama.

Saba Qamar will star alongside Rabia Butt and Juggun Kazim in a limited series called Gunnah. Gunnah will air on Express Entertainment after Eid. Express has already aired Ek Thi Laila and Hum Dono and this will be their third one with a very strong cast.

The story of the movie revolves around two characters, that is, Sabah Qamar’s and Imran’s. What   has been heard about the storyline is its resemblence to the poetic work of the Great Poet, Allama Iqbal and seems to adopt the theme of his poem ‘Shikwa’. ‘Shikwa’ is a a magnificent piece that reveals how a Muslim man complains to his Lord for being cruel to the Muslims and giving all the luxuries to the non-Muslims. The poet also wrote a reply to this poem of his, which became more popular as compared to the questionary poem.

It is expedcted that Saba’s fans would support her upcoming movie, Lets see how far the movie actually goes!

Only a week is left till Pakistan’s most celebrated Lux Style Awards 2017. However, the credibility of the show is always questioned due to the biased nominations. Recently, Imran Abbas expressed his feelings about the nominations and now it’s Saba Qamar who has decided to skip the show.

We all know that Saba is not just a talented actress but a very confident lady as well. “Although I am nominated for three different plays, I will not be attending the LSAs as a protest,” Qamar told The Express Tribune. “They never bothered to honour me during the past 12 years and now that I have the Bollywood stamp, everyone is acknowledging me all of a sudden.”

“I have been working in the Pakistani entertainment industry since 2004 and no brand or award show has ever approached me in all this time. Now that I have come back from India, every brand and every award show is running after me. It’s almost as if they just noticed my presence,” she stated.

Saba is all set to make her Bollywood debut with Hindi Medium opposite Irrfan Khan. The trailer of the film released recently and Saba was showered with lots of praises for her impressive performance and strong screen presence.

Saba Qamar has worked with the best directors and producers of the country. She has been part of many hit dramas and she has shown her versatility by playing different kinds of characters. This time after working with Dr. Younis Butt in “Hum Sub Umeed Se Hein” and Geo TV”s sitcom “Miss Fire” which aired in 2013 Saba Qamar will be seen playing the role of a strong woman who is not influenced by anyone in the sitcom “She”.

Saba Qamar will play the character of Baji Rao Mastani who is a police オンライン カジノ officer. According to the Geo TV website Saba”s character will be “Baji” for people who are good and she will be “Rao” for evil people and as a whole her personality will be that of a “Mastani”.

Saba Qamar talked about the fall she had on the ramp few months ago for the first time with Farah Sadia on her talk show. Farah Sadia went to her house to talk to her about different aspects of her life. Saba Qamar also cooked for the crew and shared details about her career as well as her personal likes and dislikes.

Saba Qamar talked about the time when she slipped on the ramp. She shared in detail how this fall happened. Saba also said that she was not surprised how this news was covered by the media since she is used to being in the limelight all the time.

Saba also said that in one of the videos she saw, she heard one of the camera man saying that she had fallen herself to get attention. He made it sound like, it was not an accident but something she did on purpose. Saba Qamar made it clear that she did not need to pull such stunts to get attention because she was blessed with tons of attention otherwise too. She also said that she was not an attention seeker.

Saba Qamar shared that when she slipped, she broke her ankle but that did not stop her from going to the Masala Awards. Saba said that she was very determined and strong so she did not let her injury shy away from her commitments.
